Reviews of Clayton Park Golf Course
Devin Oakes
This is a great course for those who want to work on their game in an affordable and low-stress setting. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. There is a nice chipping/putting practice area. They don’t do tee times, so you can go at your own pace, play solo, or join up with others if you want. Don’t come here expecting a championship PGA course and you’ll have a fun round. Things to know: there are no water hazards or bunkers in play, but there are enough challenging shots navigating hills and trees to keep things interesting. Most of your shots will be up or down hill. Although most of the holes are fairly short par 3, holes 1, 8, and 9 are long enough (250-300 yards) to warrant bringing a driver. The greens are not in the best shape as of August 2022 (4 holes had “temporary greens” which were spray painted circles on the fairway), but it’s certainly better than other $13 courses I’ve played. The layout isn’t the most intuitive and some additional signage near the greens pointing to the next tees would be helpful; my group encountered two other groups who had accidentally skipped holes. The course is very hilly and there are no carts or cart paths, so this course may not be ideal for total beginners or anyone who has trouble walking up and down grassy inclines. You can bring or rent a push cart, or get some extra exercise by carrying your bag. My phone pedometer calculated about 12,000 steps (roughly 5 miles) and 25 flights of stairs to play 18. I will definitely play here again and look forward to seeing the greens in better shape in the fall.

For the price, this is a decent course to get in some practice. The course is pretty hilly and consists primarily of short par 3's. It is walking only, but you can rent a bag cart to pull around if your bag is too heavy. Keep your expectations in line with the greens fees; they are cheap and the course isn't perfect.
Jeffrey Jenkins
I love playing/practicing golf at CP. It has the nicest fairways for an inexpensive course! Where else can you play golf for the price of a driving range session?
Josh Miller
I like this course for several reasons: 1) I get to walk the course...no golf carts allowed. 2) The cost is quite reasonable and 3) the greens are so slow I can putt the ball hard without putting it past the hole ten feet!
Bridget Corry Morse
Beautiful hilly country course - walking only - nice man in the pro shop- road construction and the humble golf house makes the entrance easy to miss
Shamus McBolder
Clayton National Park....where do I truly start? Is it the well-kept greens? Is it the majestic views of the power lines and route 322? Or is it the fact that these 9 holes resemble the back 9 of Pebble Beach better than any other golf course in the Western Hemisphere. This course bleeds true greatness. With legends like John Daly, Arnold Palmer, Louis Oosthuizen, and of course the great American war hero Jim Brown, starting their careers off at this prestigious course, it has grown to be a golf factory for the up and coming young talent. Professionals have gone on the record saying the second hole is the hardest hole in golf, quite possibly across the whole world. After the second hole, it certainly doesn't get easier. The grueling north south wind spanning across the never-ending 7th hole makes you kiss your chances of par goodbye! Not only is this a Delco staple, it is a stable for athletics everywhere.
Joel Rickards
Great place for everyone starting to advanced golfers. You have to walk it but it’s fun
Jon Heller
Dollar for dollar, the best course in delco. 9 holes is $11, only 2 dollars more to play 18. Walking or push carts only. Greens were in solid shape. Took me about an hour to play the 9 holes as a single. Great course for beginners or those who want to practice on the cheap.
Shannon Harrell
Nine hole course but ground is maintained nicely. Good greens n fairways. First 5 holes hilly and last 4 holes minimum grade. Good cardio as well
Michael Simons
Not the fanciest course but best value for money. Perfect if you want to play a last minute round or looking to improve on your game.
Ethan Kang
Decent course with slow greens and short fairways, but relatively well maintained. A lot of Gnats in the summer; bring bug spray if you can.
Joseph Gesualdi
Clayton is a very unique golf course. Before going there, you need to be aware that it's a small, entry level type course. Bang for your buck, it's a great place to go play. It's relatively casual, and the short distances make it the ideal course for guys who are just learning how to golf, or if you just wanna spend some time goofing off with your family or friends. My dad hit his first hole-in-one off the 3rd tee box. All of that being said, please be courteous. It's casual, but it's still a golf course.
Dale Plummer
A nice little 9 hole course. Nothing fancy but several holes are indeed challenging. No tee times available.

Cant wait for the nice weather to arrive so I can play here a few days a week. I wish they had a season pass, but great rates either way. Wonderful course to come out with a Sunday Bag and practice your iron and wedge game.
Bob Collins
If your new to golf or haven't played in years, like me, this is the place for you! It's a short, fairly open course. Par is 30. Nice tee boxes and fairways. Grasses are always nicely cut and clean. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star are the greens. A little bumpy from weeds and bald patches. But it's still decent. No riding carts, only pull carts that you can rent for a dollar (at least I think it's a buck, maybe 2) or just carry your bag. Since I have my own, it only costs $11 to play the 9 holes! No sand or water hazards. So if your new or rusty, this is a great place to get some practice in cheap!
Brian Skuzinski
This is a great little public golf course located off of route 322 in Delaware county. Over the years the conditions of the golf course have improved tremendously. Golfing here is very inexpensive. This is a 9-hole course with free parking, however, the parking lot is not that big. It is far enough away from route 322 that you don't have to worry about hitting any cars as you got off as well. Bring your walking shoes as there are no carts and there are plenty of hills.
Amanda Reichert
I wish I would have read the reviews before golfing here. No golf carts and lots of walking. My husband and I finished 6 of 9 holes before calling it quits. The gentleman behind the desk was kind enough to waive our walking carts so thank you to him for at least trying to make it a bit easier.
Theresa Gawbill
I love this course. I get the opportunity to work on my game and improve using various clubs. If you play during the week, it's not so crowded, and you get to hit 2 or 3 shots on a hole without holding up the next player. And, best of all, the course is well taken care of, and the price is right.
Daniel A.
The best golf course on the east coast. Where else can you find such quality and consistent putting greens, perfectly manicured fairways and a beautiful overlook view of route 322 - the worlds most efficient highway design? All for 11 dollars a round! I love this course.
Cory Salmon
Decent 9 hole, good price
Julio Vega
Staff was friendly, grounds were will kept. The course is a starter/beginner course and the dress code is not formal. Only issue was grumpy older golfers but that can't be controlled by the grounds. Will definitely back.
Steven Gove
You get what you pay for! Greens are barely distinguishable from the fairways and the fairways depend on rain. Still, it is a fun layout (a dogleg par 3?!) very challenging and hilly. Can't beat the greens fee ($6.00 for 62 & over)!
Matt Harnett
First of all let me tell you how delish and Smokey the greeting is upon arrival. Even wearing my Covid mask , it stood no chance against the cigarettes. Billy bob joe was working the counter and hollered “where yous from”. And as any intelligent non-chimpanzee responds: Delco. That one dollar make you Holler discount has golfers traveling all the way from Canada to play this prestige course. Tiger Woods stayed in Playboy magazine that even he has never hit a par at Clayton park. I also loved the aesthetic. Swinging my second shot after duffing the first , I hear a yelping billy bob joe “this ain’t the driving range, hit one ball!” I never felt more at home. Lastly, the bugs life museum on the 8th hole aside the green. What a fantastic presentation. Golf and a free “pet the buhs” show! Thank you Clayton , I enjoy your well maintained park!
Jeffry Albertson
Have played the course many a time. Never has it failed to disappoint with the excellent sand bunkers littered throughout the greens. Really makes for some interesting putting. The 3rd tee box is exceptional as it’s completely made of muddy concrete which helps to add to the overall character of the course. The rest of the holes are pretty decent except the 2nd and 7th greens have been under construction for decades, natuarally they did the logical thing to solve this promblem which was to put a flag pin and cup in the middle of the fairway. I’ve also began to notice after playing there a few times that if you tend to shank left this is not the course for you. There’s a blind field that lines the 7th fairway and it was deemed “The Field O’ Death” by patrons at this course because if your ball goes over there you must as well just tee up another one, cause that suckers gone. After the round they have a excellent restaurant in the club house which features 3 state of the art vending machines we’re you can find just about any brand of candy bar and a bag of chips(on a good day). Overall the reason for the 5 stars was due to the sheer enjoyment I got out of watching the patrons there walk off the course in disarray from the conditions of the greens and tee boxes. Highly recommend if your looking for a good time.
Silvana D'Alessandro
Played my first golf game here. Nine holes...we walked it, great cardio up and down hills.
Inexpensive municipal course, well kept.
Jimmy Tarrant
Love this place. Such a bargain for a quick game. Course is in adequate condition, I've seen so much worse for similar style courses. Hasn'tbusy at all on the weeknights I've played
Tobias Funke
I'm not reviewing the course, but I will give 5 stars to both Shamus McBolder and Matt Hartnett for their excellent reviews!

Pieter Bezuidenhout

John Dukes
Worth every penny. Not bad for $6 a round.
Tony Mangabat
Don't expect a country club, but if you're from Delco, it's the jawn. I love just smacking the ball around that track. I hope it never changes.
Vincent “License Guy” DiAngelus
A little tight and tee boxes were hard. Otherwise a nice place for a quick 1/2 round.
David Taylor
My opening round of the year to get warmed up.Not too bad of shape.

Worth the $11 fee. Work on your game. Better than going to range and hitting the mat

This is where I learned, this is where my son is learning, this will probably be where his son learns.
