This is a review that's way overdue! I took a trip to Arizona last year to go on a golf excursion. Such beautiful golf courses in Arizona. Definitely will be back. Dobson ranch was the most unique with the way they had it's driving range setup with the simulators. Late night fun but also good practice before the round of golf. I actually played golf twice here and really enjoyed it. Course was in great shape. The manager on hand Andrew Frazier and the rest of his staff were top notch. Highly recommend going there!

My go to golf course for everyday fun. I grew up playing at this course and at a couple others but loved Dobson the most because of the fun layout. The course has some severe doglegs and the greens are very challenging with a lot of slope on most of them. Water comes into play on hole 8 for me but most of the other holes it isn't close to the landing areas or greens. I love the range. It has synthetic turf and Toptracer but of you want a more traditional hitting experience with great grass you can pay a small fee and go to the back of the range. The restaurant had been recently upgraded with a great bar and pool tables. The outdoor sitting area is right off the putting green. The staff is the best around. Kudos to the team as they really understand service.

Dobson will forever hold a special place in my heart. The first venue to give Random Golf Club’s Phoenix Chapter a chance and boy did it pay off. 70+ people enjoying and loving the game. We closed down the front 9 late on a Saturday afternoon and it’s a day many of us will remember for a long time. Good conversation. Hearty laughs. And great shots. Enjoyed on a great course in pure conditions. Go for the great range and the fun course layout. Stay for the awesome people. Tell them RGC sent you! 👌

Great experience here at this course. Golf carts have nice jbl Bluetooth speakers. Staff are on top of making your day awesome every time. Cart girls with food, well maintained greens and hole layouts. Overall happy every time I play 9 or 18

I started playing golf on this course back in the late 90's. Have not been back for almost 25 years and wow! They added the new driving range with games on the TV & it's shaded!!! I just got started again after a +20 years of not golfing at all. I have been going there every week now to practice on the range. It feels like Top Golf but cheaper.

Course is a fine public course. The Ranch range is investing more money in virtual golf at the range vs just enjoying a bucket of balls. 25 hitting pads are covered and reserved for ExTrA $. Only a dozen pads for normal hitting. Trying to be the next top golf. Not a fan.

Range, chipping and putting area on site. Range has Top Tracer bays. No netting to surround the range so on hole 10, there’s about 75 balls on the fairway. Aim right or you’ll never find your ball (or use a ball with color). The distance markers at the tee box are off by sometimes 50+ yards. Huge speakers blaring teen music all around the main club area which is annoying when trying to warm up at 8am. I get they are going for the party atmosphere but maybe hold off on the loud music until lunch time. Overall a good value, but I wouldn’t return for the 18. Great place to party, drink and play top tracer though.

Awesome driving range! Good environment and great staff. Huge shoutout to Matt with the cool, long hair, very nice guy. Came to check on us every couple of minutes to see if we needed anything. And even gave me some pointers on my Iron swing since I am a beginner at golf. Will definitely be going back because of Matt with the cool hair.

If you are looking for a fun experience, Dobson Ranch is the golf course for you! The staff is genuine, friendly and helpful. The course features some of the largest trees of any course in the Phoenix area. There are some hard dog-legs that make it challenging but the greens are definitely where the course bites! Make sure you miss it on the right side of the green and stay below the hole. There is water on several holes but there is only one forced carry on hole #18 - which is only about 175 yards or so. Be sure to stop inside after your round to grab a drink and some food - again, super friendly and affordable - they have pool tables, large tvs and golden tee inside the recently remodeled restaurant. There are about 10 seats at the bar and they are popular but I recommend sitting on the patio and enjoying the Arizona weather. They have ping pong and cornhole just off the patio. All in all, this is a great golf experience. I took all the photos - and yes, the Breakfast Burrito and Hamburger are both delicious.

5 for the staff! 3 for the course. You are over booking. We couldn’t finish in 4.5 hours. You had maintenance staff on almost every hold filling in divots to the point where we could not hit on many holes. I’ve never seen that before so was super disappointed. The staff was fantastic however and made our trip worth it. The practice area looks great too .

If you're looking for a go-to, home course. This could be it. It has everything I was looking for in a golf course and then some. Definitely worth a visit. The course itself is in great shape. Challenging greens, covered driving range, decent golf shop, and the Ranch Card which offers a bunch of discounts.

Visiting from Colorado and I couldn't have asked for better weather and course conditions in December! Friendly staff and a well managed course, much better than your typical municipal course. Green fees were reasonable, and I would definitely return to play another round on my next visit. Also, it's located close to many great Korean restaurants. Thanks to Jeremy at the Pro shop for the recommendation!

For me being here is the best $25-$30 I could spent, I find the range a great stress reliever and just flat out fun. So glad I came across this faciltiy, plus they're open to 10pm and even open on Sunday! Thank you!

Great conditions, pace of play was good, and the course is pretty forgiving making it a great course to learn on and improve your short game. Played back 9 only for an afternoon round I was really impressed with the starter controlling the start time for other groups. Paid $25 for 9 holes (twilight round). Not a bad price at all for this time of the year.

Im 2 weeks new to arizona. Gotta say this place was a lot of fun. Very helpful at the pro shop. Great facility. Good prices. Great bar/restaurant. Friendly staff. Nothing bad I can say about this place. I'll definitely be back and recommend to anyone who comes to town.

Best municipal course in East Valley. Greens are true and fairways kept. Mature trees are mixed with recently planted new ones. Sand traps are fluffed and raked. Front 9 par 37. Back-9 par 35. Back-9 more scenic. Driving range is being upgraded with overhead shade. Ball tracking technology available. Staff is friendly. Need to increase drink cart frequency.

Went to driving range for the first time. It was a great experience. Played the virtual games available. Food and beverages available. Chicken wrap was pretty good. It was fairly inexpensive compared to other places I've been to. Workers were friendly, attentive & professional. Overall, great experience!

Course conditions are pretty solid, 7/10. Customer service is 10/10. Played on 4th of July with my wife and a friend and his wife. My wife only plays a few times a year and my friends wife had never played before (which I didn’t know). We started really slow. Ranger let us know after 2 we were about a hole behind and kindly asked us to pick up the pace since we were an early tee time. We picked it up and caught up to the next group in 2 holes and kept up with them. As a thank you, the ranger gave us free lunch or drink on the club after our round. They also came around offering Otter Pops. Love this course.

The staff is outstanding! Everyone is happy that you're there and really friendly. The management company continues to make improvements to the course, practice facilities and atmosphere. The course is challenging yet fair and is in really good shape. Sometimes the pace of play can be a little slow but with the amount of rounds it sees and the great price, that is to be expected from time to time.

I LOVE this course! It’s in great condition and it’s beautiful. The staff are friendly and so professional. It’s a very busy course, but the Starters, (thank you Edward!), do such a great job of spacing golfers far enough apart that I’ve never felt held up or rushed. Today, (8/20/21), was no exception, busy, but spaced well enough apart that everyone was moving along at a good pace and having a great time. . . and then a little more than halfway through our game, an incident occurred that was serious enough to call a Ranger out to deal with it. What happened isn’t as important as how it was handled by Dobson Ranch staff members, Paul and Colton. They were so professional in the way they took control and diffused the situation and my friend and I are very grateful. Thank you both so much! Oh and they have great food too! The only thing you could have done better was adjust the weather! The course was in good condition for the middle of summer in Arizona! At one point we were advised to keep up with the group in front of us however we had to wait for them a couple times so felt we were playing at the right speed. Your staff throughout the course is always top-notch! The service all around was great! Never had to wait for the drink cart and the ability to order food and get it at the turn was perfect. And good tasting!

Awesome golf course and driving range and even better staff, shout out to the Matts and Mark they have been outstanding and have gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome here. I’m from Alaska and spent 3 weeks in Az visiting family and played 10 other courses since I’ve been here, I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a good time, it was honestly the best experience I’ve had during my visit. They have too tracer technology on the driving range, speakers built into the golf carts, a cool club house and shop. I came back 3 days in a row and my only regret is that I wish found this place at the beginning of my trip!

As a newfound lover and learner of golf, it can be pretty intimidating to start. However, all of those fears and worries are washed away by the incredibly warm and helpful staff here. Not only is it a beautiful range that is well kept, but upon arrival you are always made to feel welcome. Matt, specifically, is a superstar. His resting face is a smile and he is always more than happy to offer tips and say what's up. There is not a single day that I have been here that I haven't seen Matt here. Whether he's working or not working, he's always an absolute gem of a human. He is definitely a huge part of the reason me and my partner keep coming back. Been using the driving range at Dobson ranch ever since I started golfing about a month and a half ago. Range attendants Matt and Tim are super friendly and helpful alongside with the staff in general. Great place to golf especially with the top tracer bays that give great shot info.

Very fun and laid back atmosphere. A rather forgiving course but in good condition including the greens. Excellent customer service, from starter to beverage cart, to post-round beverages at the bar & grill! Stick around and shoot the free-throw for a super cheap beer!

Started to get back into golf after 25 years and prices really reflect it too...right now $56 weekdays and $59 weekends to play. Different deals for different times of play, like after 1pm and walking or taking a cart can be cheaper. $8 for medium size bucket of balls (50), the place really looks like they went Corporate like everything else in Sports, more amenities but you pay for it. Didn't actually play but the driving range and putting greens, chipping greens were in great shape.

This is a good public course . Most of the challenge are the mature trees and how they place the holes on the hilly greens. Just expect a full day of golf. Many days you will feel lucky for it to be 4.5 hour round...couple times it can go well over 5 hours.. the new management is much friendlier and organized then the past group.. there are a number of bathrooms and fountain water spots which is great in the heat with the shade

After finishing my round of golf at Dobson Ranch, I felt compelled to write a short review about my experience. I have lived in the valley for the better part of Forty years and have struggled to find good summer golf. I think after their latest improvements, Dobson Ranch now can now boast they have the best practice facility in the valley. The golf course was in great shape for the summer heat and the greens were in very good condition and had a good speed. Jayson and all the staff were very helpful and courteous. Just had a good time and think you will do the same.

Amazing! Carts have Bluetooth so you can jam out. The drink ladies are fun and happy not to mention adorable! Greens were great and well maintained. My only comment would be to separate the groups slightly more. We had a group of very agitated men trailing behind. I'm no tiger woods and I don't always land on the green. It doesn't help with Mr. Tiger Woods behind me with his range finder and tactical ball carrier play any better. Still I will be returning for future trips to the course.

This course is in fantastic shape! They have redesigned EVERY par 3 teeing ground to make them level and they are a lush green grass. The greens are rolling very true and are also well maintained. You can definitely see the work that has been going on around the facility with excellent improvements done to the practice facilities and surrounding areas. A new fleet of comfortable golf carts complete with Bluetooth speakers has been deployed as well. The staff remains super friendly and welcoming. Great job Dosbon Ranch!

First time playing this course. I am from Los Angeles area and here visiting my sister. I am a 18 index golfer. Played in late July. Play early. Staff is great and for a public course the greens are well maintained. Best 30 dollar with cart course I have ever played.

First off let me tell you the new staff and management have taken this course head on and it is safe to say we are all happy to see their progress! The course and amenities are great! The renovations and remodeling are turning out fantastic! The range and putting area are in good shape and the range specials are always a good deal. Young staff and friendly faces every where you look. This is our most frequented course because of its competitive pricing all year round and great deals. My go to’s are Jacquelyn, Drew and Chris. They will take care of you, ask about your day, and most of all remember you when you come back in. Yes, the course is slow pace of play however it is like that everywhere. It is busy because it’s good. Enjoy your round and make the most of it. You are playing golf ! Nothing negative to say about how hard these people work to provide us golfers with a good experience while at the ranch! I’d say i’m coming back, but I have been doing so for quite a while!

I play alot and across the country, if you're looking for pristine, country club, plush tee to green, maybe you wouldn't rate 5 stars, but if you are looking for modern day golf experience that begins with the staff, to the amazing, fun, family inviting range this is your spot! The greens and aprons were perfect down to the meticulous care, conditions and challenging with many undulations. Play this course and take it in from golfers eyes, layout, playable and just overall enjoyable.

Working on the Dell Intell microchip plant in Chandler. Crazy hours. But if I'm not working or sleeping, I'm at Dobson Ranch. Hitting balls in their shot tracer driving range, or putting or chipping, or playing the course. Took a lesson from local PGA pro Patrick Swisher. Money well spent. Love this place and have a great lunch and some drinks afterwards.

Our group played this course for the first time. We've heard frequent good comments. Quite a nice complex with driving range, chipping area and putting green. Course is not long (6700 yards from back tees), but there are some longer and more challenging holes. Fairways were in good shape. Bunker sand was generally soft, although there was the odd one where the ground was quite firm. Greens were in great shape, are sloping and they were quite fast. If you are above the hold, be prepared for a 3 or 4 putt. Despite the frost delay and the number of players on the course, we finished in 4.5 hours. The only negative about this course is that, because there are few trees, you see golfers all over the place. On a number of holes (number 1/9 and 10/18 in particular), they are definitely in the line of fire although we never heard anyone yell fore. 10 is right beside the driving range. We enjoyed the course and would certainly play again. We did not have a coupon nor were we Mesa residents, so we paid the rack rate of $55 pp. Good value.

Super fun, AWESOME staff! Rudy and Mark with cart help are top notch guys. They even let u shoot a basketball shot for a $.01 drink after the round, and I actually made it! Great vibe here, highly recommend! Oh, and there's billiards, ping pong, good music, and corn hole. Good times.

The staff was awesome from the golf shop staff to the starter. The course was great, greens faster than normal but made it more of a challenge. Was so impressed I played another 18 holes. Looking forward to getting back out and playing more.

Great place to practice and play. The driving range is open til 9 with lights. Two putting greens, two chipping areas, and bunker for practice. Fun place to play, wont hurt you too bad if you have a slice. The staff is very nice - good people.

Golf course was in very good shape, especially when considering the low green fees and the amount of players that go through here. Also, the staff was really helpful, loaning me a towel and then finding my original towel and returning it to me after the round. Whoever is running the show here is doing an excellent job. Course isn’t in great shape and they don’t space out tee times so a lot of waiting between shots. Layout is decent but nothing worth mentioning. Traps were raked earlier so kudos on that but leaves everywhere. We lost 3 balls in the fairway due to leaves. We scored a deal through Golf Now so the price made it worth 3 stars.

Very well done tournament today 09/21/19. The greens are a perfect challenge with slopes and little hills at the right places. Nice big shade trees. Bathrooms were clean. Great weather today too.

On a whim I took a tee time not knowing what to expect. I’m from out of town. Wow, you can see why this place gets a lot of business. Challenging, fun course. Awesome greens. The place is very well managed and taken care of with a very upbeat vibe. Carts have built in Bluetooth speakers for your music, cornhole, music at the big patio, food truck, cool targets on the practice range. Definitely not stuffy, boring, uptight joint like many places around Phoenix

Went to the driving range at 6:30pm on a Thursday. Was pretty busy, had to wait 10-15 minutes for a tee box to open up. They’re sort of closer together with no dividers, but it’s nice and has a fun atmosphere.

Beautiful parkland course that offers challenges and requires some course management. Extremely hard to muscle out shot lines or cut corners. Play this parkland safe. The bunker sand was reddish, loosely packed and simply delightful, the greens were in superb shape, everything was perfect. .

I've played at Dobson Ranch a dozen times and have yet, yet, to have had a bad experience, bad rounds of golf yes, but never regarding the experience. For the amount of traffic this golf course gets the course is always in great shape; and I used to work at a golf course so I am impressed. I am thankful for the manner in which the staff keeps people moving, always it seems groups are on the first tee even before they're called to the tee box. I like their efficiency. I just hope they can continue to manage the golf course in the same manner as the last four years, the same number of years I've been playing there. I play a rotation of about ten courses, mainly resort courses, and the condition of the course even exceeds those of some of the resort courses which theoretically should not be the case.

first time back to this course in over 20 years. The course is very nice mature trees forgiving yet challenging. Stopped golfing hete because of crowds in the winter expect a round of 18 to take close to 6 hours. Hurry up hit then wait over and over, not as bad this time but still waited at almost every hole if they had a Marshall to keep golfers moving I would rate 5 stars.

For a public Muni course it's in really good shape. Tea boxes look nice very good greens are a little bumpy but they're going to be this time of the year because they're a little soft there's not a ton of graphic grass on them. The overseeding did go well. The only bad thing about the experience was the Pro Shop staff wasn't the best at their job.

For the cost and condition of this course you cannot beat it. The fairways, greens, and bunkers are always in good shape and in the winter the greens become very pure. Even for the traffic this course gets on a weekly basis they maintain it and continue to invest in making the course better. It's also one of the few lit ranges in the valley and they actually take care of the range balls by constantly changing them out for new ones. I would highly recommend it.

Dobson Ranch is a great public golf course located outside of Phoenix in Mesa Arizona. Great layout, challenging when need be and in great condition. There is an excellent driving range with lighting for night time practice. I'd also like to mention that the staff, club pro, dining staff and everyone that seemed to work at this course was very friendly and accommodating. This is a great alternative to the higher priced golf courses in the area.

Just coming out of over seed...fairways are shaggy and a bit wet so it plays long. The greens are also still a bit shaggy but rolling true, just a little slow. All in all, very playable and it looks nice and green. It looks very promising for when everything settles and they can mow everything shorter. Should be choice in a month. As for the track, I never get tired of Dobson.

They have a large grass driving range which is nice, but they should back fill the hitting areas with sand when the tee boxes are moved forward so you don't feel like you're standing in a bomb crater. Also yardage markers would be nice.

Dobson Ranch is a good municipal golf course with a good practice facility. This course's rating of 3 stars is just the caliber of course itself. With very affordable green fees and good conditions, I would recommend this course to a casual or beginner golfer. Dobson Ranch also has a full restaurant and proshop if you need food or equipment. Definitely one the better municipal courses in the Phoenix area.

As a local and DR resident, Dobson Ranch has always been great track but the new management is doing everything it can to push people away. They were running a special in July 1/2 off range balls from certain times, problem is they kept it a secret and half the people working at the counter had no idea they were even running the special. Range balls now have a tax so instead of paying $10 for a large bucket it’s now $10.83. Everywhere else in the world a bucket is a dollar amount not a dollar and change. Furthermore the driving range grass used to be one of the best manicured for a public course. It is now shaggy and no where near what it used to be. The course itself seems to still be kept up but the way everything else is going we shall see if that continues. Way too many courses in area for them not to do better.

Great course layout and the best golf value in the valley. Dobson Ranch GC is second only to Papago for city owned golf and I've played EVERY public course in the valley over the last 25 years. Dobson Ranch is always $20-$40 less than Papago and has 5 star practice facilities. There are 2 huge practice putting greens, a practice chipping green, a separate sand bunker green and a massive driving range large enough to move the practice tees frequently, so you are always hitting balls off of new grass not sand or dirt.The course plays long from the tips and has large greens in surprisingly good condition considering how much any they see. I've played the course about a dozen times over the last year and consistently finish in 4 hours to 4 hours 15 minutes. Twilight rates start early enough to play 18 holes and the pro shop and restaurant staff are friendly and professional.

They told range we were driving carts to close to greens but the guy I golf with just had a heart attack and has cellulitis in his knee's so I take him as close as I can and they complained and range came and asked us not to upon explanation he said they have 1 man carts. Booked a tee time online based on time I thought we'd be there. Great price via Active Golf which came up on Dobson Ranch site. Called day of play to see if we could play earlier since we were in the area early. Ken in pro shop said "only if you pay more than already paid since we got such a deal", even though multiple open times were available. We got to course early and spent half hour practicing. We then sat in a cart for over an hour without one group being called to the tee box. We arrived at 11:30 and finally were allowed to tee of at 12:45. The 3 "lumps" in the pro shop just sat behind the counter and made no effort to provide any customer service. We will not be driving to Mesa from Peoria to play this course again.
