Makefield Highlands is a fantastic golf course. The greens and fairways are gorgeous. They were more than accommodating for a golf benefit. The staff is professional and helpful. I’ll definitely be returning. I also enjoyed the scenery.

A links-style course! A newer one at that making it a must play. Back tees and back back tees make it a course that can host championships. Facilities are top-notch with a nice enough clubhouse-grill and patio to bring in non-golfing locals for dinner. The course itself can seem easy on some days and hard on others, as wide fairways and large greens smear your depth perception. Staying on course (shortest distance to the green) is an important strategy as those fairways do a good job leading you away from the hole and you use a longer club for your approach. The 15th hole is certainly a challenge as you stare at a sliver of a green on the other side of a boggy-swamp. Do you hate trees because you always seem to hit them? Me too! Luckily, there are few trees on Makefield. However, fairways tend to lie low in a gully making the wind a stealthy foe if it is anywhere over 15 mph. Greens are super interesting with lots of opportunities to putt from off the green as the grass is very well manicured and the sandy soil makes it flatter. The course can be more difficult at times if fescue rough is allowed to grow into tall. Makefield is probably one of the very best public courses in the area, up there with Broad Run and potentially better. It is an absolute must play and should be high-up on your list of courses to visit.

Even with the winter weather the course is in great shape. Greens started out fast around 9am when they were still frozen but then slowed down a ton once it warmed up. Love the layout and will definitely come back once spring hits. Really nice ranger and guy in the pro shop. Keep it up this is a class course.

Definitely the nicest course I have played in the N. Pa/S. NJ area. The front nine is links-style and the back nine has more trees. The course is wide so lost balls is less of a problem and the staff is great. Pace of play midweek is great too. I highly recommend.

Great course and layout. Very challenging. Greens in great condition. Fairways had some beat up areas as a result of this year's weather but all areas playable. This round was on 9/25/22.

Just ok. Food portions small. Only the salmon was tasty. The chicken was tough. Salad was mostly shredded red onions. Pasta with squash was just blah.Poor service they have a lack of help. Won't ever go back.

Fantastic course, always well maintained. Perfect combination of risk reward holes. One of the best courses in the Bucks County area. Reasonable prices, great bar and grille area. Outstanding staff, all very friendly and helpful. Great pro shop as well. Play a round and finish the day with a great meal and a drink on the deck overlooking the course. Highly recommend. Very well run golf course and facility.

It’s always refreshing when a business actually lives up to their mission statement. Makefield Highlands advertises that they want to redefine public golf and they definitely deliver on that. Great service, great facilities, and most importantly a really fun and well maintained golf course. I drove 50 minutes to get there and it was well worth it. I will definitely be back.

We were only able to play 5 holes due to thunder storms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The tee boxes were in pretty tough shape and the greens were covered with in-repaired ball marks. I can imagine how difficult it must be to get players to repair their marks, with a transient crowd but unfortunately, it leaves a less than desirable green for others to use. The holes we played were well laid out and fun to play, except for the above notes challenges.

always a fun course to play. Good layout and forgiving wide fairways. The sandtraps need sand and the trap on the 15th fairway is all dirt and weeds. The carts often run out of battery power before the round is over. Aside for lack of sand and the cart issues a very playable course.

Was at Makefield Public House for happy hour. Sat outside. Service was very slow for raw bar even though we say next to the raw bar. Food came without silverware or napkins. Had to get up and look for server to get those items. Drinks ok. Music was very good. Probably won't go back.

Updated July 2020. Course I'd just not ready for play this year. Has seen better seasons. Fairways are browned out and some greens and fringe are bare. I would give 5 stars if only the prices were not so wallet-unfriendly. Greens fees top out at $80 for peak times and even expensive Mon-Thurs which is unfortunate (usually $55 with cart). Forces me to play afternoons and weekdays to enjoy this really well designed and kept course. You can tell that a lot of thought and creativity went into design here. Every hole is unique and offers risk-reward challenges. I think the various tees offer a wide range of challenge for all handicaps and the links style layout makes it very accessible and fun for all. The most impressive part is how well it is maintained and i believe that is what youre mainly paying for. Each hole is kept up very well from tee to green. Very meticulous

It looks like a nice course but I never played it. I drove there specifically for grass driving ranges and they had mats. The counter guy was friendly and helpful and the course looks nice but the mats was a letdown.

Well designed and fun course. Not the longest course in the world, but definitely a fun round where you need to hit every shot in your bag. Good practice facilities, though the range fills up with people during peak times.

This is the BEST course in bucks county. Incredible layout and difficulty. Water coolers every few holes. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Fantastic tap selection, full bar, and an impressive food menu. Even if you're just looking for a hot dog at the turn...they are killer. Special shout to Greg the food and service manager, always 5 star service. An absolute must if you are golfing in the tri-county area.

My favorite public course in the suburbs north/east of Philly. It's a little pricey but it's a great course and it's kept in great condition always. It's also the ideal course for beginners or amateurs since it's open and there's not many trees. The openness makes it beautiful too. Highly recommend this course to those who haven't been !

A hidden gem for sure! Course was in pristine condition and the greens were fantastic. The course made you think on every shot requiring you to use a variety of clubs off the tee and on your approach. Can’t wait to play it again!

For the price, this is the best maintained course in the area. Having hosted a U.S. Open qualifier a couple of years ago, the course still feels and plays like a Championship course. Best fairways in the region, and the greens are always pure, and putts run true every time. Rough (when I played) was as expected...U.S. Open rough. So keep it in the short grass, and this course won't disappoint. My favorite course of the area.

My entire family loves playing golf at Makefield Highlands. It's a great course for all levels of play and we enjoy having dinner on the scenic deck when the round is over. If you're looking to improve your game, I highly recommend reaching out to Golf Pro Dave Smith. He came highly recommended and my game has never been better since I started lessons with Dave!

Surprisingly crowded for a Monday. Course in great shape. Greens slightly slower but understand with the recent heat. Only thing we were not informed we had to be off by 5pm for an 18 league. If they are going to give 12:30 tee time then they have to monitor pace of play. We waited from 2nd hole on. All in all. Good experience

I don’t normally write reviews but just have to say what kind of experience I had. For $80 a round I was expecting the greens to be in better shape. Very bumpy, tons of unrepaired ball marks that you could tell were from previous day. Fairways were a little dry in some areas which is surprising with the amount of rain we have had. Finally I must say that although the course rangers were not rude but we were asked to hurry up by four different rangers. Although our group finished within the time that was rated by the scoring card. Almost lost a club because I was so concerned to speed up. I will say I do like the course design and it was a good challenge but I drove an hour away to check this place out and sadly I will not return or recommend.

I played the course TODAY with 3 friends. Don't know how anyone could have a negative comment about the condition of the course or the staff..... BOTH WERE GREAT. I only played this course one other time in the end of June 2016. I waited to see if my GREAT experience was not normal. I and all the others in our foursome think the place is GREAT. Some people just have to complain..... PERIOD Play it you will like it and the staff.

My 6 yr old son and I were trying to get out and play a few holes during twilight hours for weeks and had a terrible time at all the local courses in the Newtown area. Joe the assistant pro and junior golf coordinator went out of his way to make room for my son and I! Makefield is an absolute top shelf place to play with family and friends.

Great course but, rangers were aggressive and impolite as the attempted to improve pace of play. Plus it was very disheartening for our group of 20 some golfers to finish our round and find that kitchen was closed on a Saturday due to a non golf related event. A course more in touch with its business may of told us ahead of time that the kitchen would be closed. We could have booked a different date.

My husband & I have been playing this course for five years. We have noticed a dramatic change in the course maintenance, condition of the greens, tee boxes ,and fairwayt digits not being filled. There used to be a rewards program related to money spent for food and golf fees last year. However, there is none this year, the fees have been increased for golf and the course conditions are worse than previous years.

Great golf course and experience. Really open but the fairways have a lot of movement so you dont often get an easy shot. Pace of play was pretty solid besides a little backup on the back 9 with a short par 4 followed by a par 3, but besides that we werent waiting to shoot at all. If your in the philly area I reccomend checking this course out.

We played at Makefield Highlands for the first time this week and we are looking forward to our next visit as soon as possible. The course was beautiful! The staff in the Pro Shop was great. We had a drink and a few appetizers at Makefield’s Public House, all of which were very good. A great experience!

Hosted a bridal shower in the tent. Everything was perfect! Alex was so wonderful and accommodating as we planned the event. Couldn't have asked for a better day!!! An extra bonus was the guys were able to golf during the shower.

Nice track to play with a nice mix of hole difficulty. A little forgiving as duck hooks and slices are easy to find in the next fairway. This leads to slow play on occasion. Course management is nice and strive to keep play going. Fairways and greens services the winter wahoo!

We're not golfers but we decided to try the Public House restaurant on the grounds. They have potential: there a decent lunch menu, offering a Philly style roast pork sandwich. It's not up to Dinic's at the Reading Market, but it's good. A selection of beers included Stella, Goose Island IPAand more. They say they have small sharing plates after 4pm. The setting is peaceful, being right in the middle of the golf course, with plenty of parking. Worth a try.

Makefield Highlands is provably the best public golf course in the Bucks / Montgomery County Area. The course is a real challenge from the Blue Tees, and a blast to play from the Whites. The course has a couple short Par 4s that invite risky drives, as well as a monster Par 5 stretching nearly 600 yards. The Par 3s are all challenging and take serious focus to avoid making bogey or worse. This is a great, links style course that everyone in the area should enjoy!
