A fantastic experience from start to finish. I would definitely recommend Edison Electric to anyone in need of electrical work. They were awesome to work with -- from John in customer service to service professionals Sam & Brandon -- who were both amazing. Responsive, courteous, professional, friendly, and expert service. I had a fairly large project scheduled for three days worth of work but they finished in two and significantly under the original estimate -- saving me $ and unnecessary inconvenience. They were very thorough and conscientious as well. My only regret is being limited to 5 stars, because it was definitely a 10-star experience!

My experience with Edison was great - from scheduling the appointment through finish of service. I appreciate how they operate - work can be started the day of your appointment, once you review & accept the estimate. No waiting weeks for a work appointment after you accept the estimate. Ryan was courteous, professional and thorough. He took the time to explain the what and why of the repairs we needed, including replacing our Zinsco panel. He & his apprentice did a fantastic job. Replacing a panel is never cheap but I found their pricing to be reasonable & similar to the other companies I received estimates from. Really happy with the work & would not hesitate to call on Edison again in the future!

Loved meeting Sam today! Sam and Brandon called ahead to let me know they would arrive within 25 minutes. We reviewed the plan to install 3 new ceiling fans, connecting my light switches to them, so I could finally have lights in my bedrooms! They were able to get all three done in one day. Sam and his apprentice were professional, friendly, and respectful, and I was very comfortable having them in my home as a single women. They explained everything clearly without being condescending and answered a host of questions. They were able to get me in faster than originally thought by about two weeks. Sam and Brandon quickly fixed the problem I had (non-working receptacle due to broken wire in the wall) and fixed another thing (non-functional three-way switches because the hot and neutral were switched in the light fixture) while they were there. They even did a walk-through inspection, which I would recommend to any homeowner as a matter of safety. I was very happy with the total bill, which was under $200- they asked before doing extra work that increased the bill above the $79 trip charge. They gave me a list of safety issues but didn't pressure me to hire them to fix them, which I appreciated, and even gave me some guidance for when I'm doing my own minor projects. I'm a big proponent of DIY electrical, but I know when I've met my limit, and it was very worth it to have Sam out to fix the things beyond my skill level and help me identify the next projects that need to be done. My home is safer and more functional now!!!

Jake and Scott did a fantastic job installing light boxes and pendants in the kitchen and moving my stove outlet so the new stove sat flush against the wall. They were very conscientious while installing and cleaned up well when they were done. They provided clear explanation of the work and a fair estimate of cost before proceeding. Gave estimates on other things that could be repaired but was not pushy about it. tl;dr: Edison is fantastic. Ryan, our electrician from Edison, is fantastic. His crew - Brandon and Chris, are fantastic. Everything you'd ever want from an electrician: Knowledgeable, personable, kind and courteous, efficient, and most importantly, THOROUGH(!!). Consummate professional. 6 stars. Absolute king. The long version: We knew our house was in need of some extensive electrical work, but we had more-or-less made our peace with the oddly byzantine wiring scheme, dimly lit basement, and kitchen lights flickering to the beat of the washing machine. When we started getting shocked by the faucet handle in the shower, we knew we couldn't put it off any longer. We called a few electricians for assessments and estimates; Ryan from Edison Electric distinguished himself immediately. "The other guys" spent about 30 minutes looking around before giving an estimate and leaving. Ryan, on the other hand, spent nearly 4 hours crawling around with a multimeter, testing circuits, asking questions, and taking notes. Ryan explained everything in detail, gave us a few options, and made himself available for further questions as needed. It was beyond obvious that he was the guy for the job. We hired Ryan/Edison to rewire every circuit which was still using the original cloth insulated wiring - which was most of the house. We also got a new panel, updated and repaired the outside connection, new light fixtures in the kitchen and basement, and additional outlets in the basement workshop. Everything is working beautifully. His suggestions for lighting in the basement were spot on - he really knows his stuff, and the whole space is so much more usable. Through all of it, Ryan, Brandon, and Chris were friendly, communicative, patient, timely, and thorough. They fixed every single one of our issues and much, much more. The finished product is impeccably clean and solid, and came in not a penny over their estimated budget. Couldn't have asked for a better contractor - I'm not sure a better contractor even exists. Oh, and the shower isn't trying to kill us anymore. Thank you!

Ryan Anderson has been so helpful for our many electrical issues with the vintage house we just purchased. On the most recent trip he was able to squeeze us in when an outlet started kicking a new appliance off. Quality of life was severely diminished without this appliance, so he and Edison Electric were able to find us a spot on short notice. He came up with several solutions, and fortunately the first try was the trick, and explained the entire process to me along the way. My high school lessons in circuits have faded, but Ryan and his team are patient and explain the electrical situation clearly. Dec 14, 2022 follow-up. Jake came out to do some emergency warranty work on my new backup generator that died out. There was a chance power lines would freeze & break & I have $8000.00 of meds in my refrig & med equip. John had Jake come out that day & worked hard to finally fig it out. As usual like other Edison employees, he was very kind. Tx you again Edison. They installed a whole house backup generator for power outages because I had med equip & expensive meds in the refrig. It was a difficult area to run power to & generator companies wouldn't even come & look at it. Dyle was in charge, worked with Joe & did a fantastic job org everything. Worked with the city & even coordinating with the comp who was installing the gas line. John at the office was great! He ret my ph calls & email right away. At one time they had 4 guys to get it done right & by the number of days they promised. At the end of the day they cleaned up & when the job was completed, they cleaned up so good it looked like no one was even here, both inside & out. 1 guy even framed the bottom with Cedar & made it look like the deck & fence. The whole project was a lot of work & it looks perfect!!! At the end they took the time to explain how everything worked on the generator until I understood it. He was at the house for about an hour and a half and before he left, he emailed me 4 different estimates and talked me through each one in an unrushed and non pushy way answering all of my questions. I called the office back later that afternoon and scheduled the biggest project to be done first. It involved adding a sub panel in the basement and rewiring and adding back porch outlets and light/light switch. The job was done quickly, neatly and professionally and the cost didn't exceed the estimate. I'm really happy with the work Edison (Ryan) did and will continue to use them for all future projects.

We were blown away by the service of this company, and specifically the work that Ryan Anderson and Jake completed at our home. After calling to set up an appointment there was a 6 week wait (but the company was rated high on BBB with no complaints so we were happy to wait) and in that time I found many more issues around our relatively newly purchased home that I was hoping they would address. Ryan and Jake showed up exactly on time and with a call, text, and email alert ahead that they were on their way. They graciously wore masks all day (and they were here from 8am-5pm) as we have young unvaccinated children in the house. We discussed in length the primary issue we called about (a circuit tripping when we used our toaster oven and microwave at the same time), and then went through the other items on our list- changing a light fixture, diagnosing a florescent hanging light fixture that wasn't working, and shortening a hanging light fixture. After discussing our list, Ryan and Jake did a complimentary walk around of our entire house checking outlets and identifying any potential issues. They were thorough and thoughtful in describing the different ways we could solve the two problems we had. They worked in a consistent fashion; they were neat, efficient, cleaned up after themselves (even took the garbage from the newly installed light fixture and took the old fixture which we didn't want anymore), and most importantly, they remained consultative & communicative throughout the day. To say Ryan and Jake (and by default Edison Electric, Inc.) exceeded our expectations is a huge understatement. We will absolutely use this company again.

When Edison heard my issue described they made sure to get in to see me within 48 hours to make sure there were no safety concerns. Ryan arrived early within the arrival window and did a very thorough job of talking me through each part of the inspections and repairs. Communication was great and setting up an appointment was simple. Due to some weather they received a large volume of emergency calls and clearly communicated there would be a delay in my appointment time, but they were actually still able to arrive towards the end of the window originally provided. Once at my home, it was clear that Ryan understand my needs and he was able to call in backup to complete the work in the time frame I requested. I felt as though they were knowledgeable and respectful throughout the entire process and did a great job of explaining my options and diagnosing my issues. I can't comment on pricing as I didn't get a quote from another company. I would suspect they may be on the high end, but you get what you pay for.

We had Joe from Edison come out to install a breaker for our new electric dryer. He arrived on time and was pleasant and professional. In addition to installing a new breaker as requested, Joe found some issues with the dryer cord, dryer hookup and installation. After explaining the issue to me, Joe went ahead and fixed the cord/installation issue without charge. Other electricians may have not even looked at the dryer cord or would not inform the homeowner of the issue or would charge additional for the issue. Joe went above and beyond. We would hire Edison again and recommend them to a friend. The only change I would recommend is that Edison apply the initial service fee to any work performed.

I had lights in two rooms (formerly one room) that would both turn on or off no matter which room’s switch was used. Now that the room has been divided in two, I needed each to have its own switch. Two different outfits looked at it and said it couldn’t be done at all or that I’d need to have the ceiling come down and the project would take days. Edison used a special tool and got the job done in an hour or so without making a single hole! They also did a bunch of fixture changes in other rooms and added a GFCI. The price was incredible and the technician was awesome. I’d never consider using a different outfit for my electrical needs after this experience.

Good experience. I initially called for an unknown issue with dim lights which turned out to be a non-issue (I didn't know there was a dimmer.) However, I also needed a circuit run for our sump pump and a gfci outlet put in. They had scheduled me for a week out, but they had a cancellation and were able to fit in my job earlier than expected. The electrician did a really quick job on that even though it required fishing a wire through a ceiling between some joists. He found a way to route the wire that was a little easier than he had initially thought and dropped the price down from the initial estimate. He also made some recommendations regarding the valued member plan which saved me some money. I felt that the price was fair for the work and he did the work quickly, efficiently and yet carefully. I'm not an electrician but the workmanship looked good and he explained to me how it was supposed to function and how I could tell if there were issues. I was pleased with the service and I would recommend Edison Electric to other people in their service area.

From the initial call, they seemed more knowledgeable than any other service provider I called. They sent two guys to quote, they gave a courtesy call and arrived timely. There's much more to popping in a few outlets than one would think, but we clearly understood the value and services we're getting. Edison Electric hit a home run for me on their repair service for me. I have a rental property that needed a few things checked out and fixed. I spoke to Michelle who was very polite and professional on the phone. I called on a Monday and she moved a few things around and dispatched one of her electricians to my home on Wednesday. She even moved things around to accommodate. I was unable to be on site but my tenants where home. The electrician called me 30min prior to arrival for a briefing on the situation. Dyle exhibited terrific electrical and people skills. he was very attentive to our project list and concerns and provided a detailed itemized estimate. Ryan arrived to help work on the items selected for completion and carefully checked that the new light fixture was straight and aligned well in the kitchen. both electricians attended to my questions skillfully. they also provided a thorough safety check of remaining switches and receptacles and provided a detailed recommend list. all items on our list plus a recommended safety item were completed in two consecutive days. as they completed each project, they cleaned up and left the areas in neat tidy condition. the next day one of our fluorescent tube fixtures would not come on. Dyle was very responsive. it ended up coming back on, perhaps the fixture will need to be replaced soon. when that happens, or for any future electric projects, i will call Edison Electric.

You definitely get what you pay for. I had cat6 and fiber cable run in my house by Edison Electric. I worked with Dyle and Joe. They were both incredibly professional- Dyle was prompt, gave me a courtesy call 30 minutes ahead of time, was able to complete the work in the same day. To made sure he got the work done in the same day, he called another guy, Joe, to help him to complete the job. They were both very friendly and answered all of my questions while they were doing the work. They also installed my network rack for me as well, and ran all of the cables to it. Then they professionally tested all of the cables with commercial testing equipment, as well as providing a document with all of the test results. Highly recommend! Edison Electric knows customer service! We moved into our new home and after looking at the way the garbage disposal wasn't put into the kitchen we knew it was a must to get an electrician out to wire the new switch. After arriving the tech took plenty of time to listen to what we wanted completed and he made sure to survey the problem himself. What he found is that the wattage to the line that we had wanted to use wasn't sufficient so he told us he'd have to run another line. Now I know what your thinking... he's just trying to upsell....I thought the same thing until I realized he was dead on after looking at what the rating was on the switch down in the basement. Long story short, we added a new line to the kitchen and he labeled and installed everything very professionally. Not only did he complete the install quickly but he cleaned up his work and mentioned to my wife that should we need anything in the future to call becuase we signed up for the membership program. These guys are pros. If you are looking for someone who can do the job RIGHT (not jimmy rigged) then call Edison. If you want something done on the cheap that may or may not light your house on fire... go with someone else. I know what I choose!

I put out a question on Facebook about finding an electrician. Edison was one of three that came back. They were the third ones to come to my 1915 home. I wanted to run a 220/240V line to the second floor. Ryan, a master electrician, came out, reviewed the project and gave me a bid. I appreciated his thoroughness in understanding what I wanted and needed. He called for some help because it was 2nd floor on the exterior, and I wanted it done today if possible. I'm currently in a wheelchair and not very mobile. To circumvent this issue he took pictures on his cell to make certain "we were on the same page." After finishing the job, he again took photos to show me. They are very impeccable about how clean they leave the job. Not only was the job expertly done, but it only took about 3 hours. I will have them back to fix a ceiling fan, and will surely recommend them to anyone who asks. I will put a note up on Facebook as well. The guys at Edison Electric really know their stuff!! First of all, the positives. I am by no means an electrician, but I'm comfortable doing some of my own repairs around the house. After taking off some old light fixtures, I realized I should probably have an expert look things over because I wasn't sure what I was doing. Edison was pretty easy to book (an online booking feature would be great) and had availability the same week, which was great as I was tired of looking at holes in my ceiling. The two guys who came by were friendly, arrived on time and called beforehand to let me know when they'd be there, and it was clear that they were extremely competent and knew what to do almost immediately after a 5 minute inspection. I think they did a fantastic job and I'd be more than happy to have them back for my future needs. Now, the things I will consider next time. I have never needed to hire an electrician, so this was a new world. I contacted a number of companies, but none of them were willing to quote a ballpark price range for me. That makes sense, given the fact that they need to get on-site to see what they are working with before being able to put an accurate quote together. However, in the day of $50-80 trip fees just to come take a look, you really kind of get stuck with whatever they determine when they get there. I called for a ceiling fan installation and a light fixture replacement. While I want to reiterate again that I was very happy with the quality of the work and the interaction with the company, I am still recovering from the trauma that was the price quote and final bill. I absolutely could not (still can't really) believe the price for these services. I won't say how much it was because my situation was probably unique, as is everyone's, but suffice it to say that having a ceiling fan and light fixture installed cost the equivalent of half of my mortgage, or a week-long trip to Mexico. Knowing what I know now, I would have probably invested another 8-10 hours of my own time trying to figure the job out before calling someone. Like I said above, the nature of the business necessarily prohibits price shopping and making informed decisions when it comes to value. It is very possible that every company in the twin cities would have charged this same price, or possibly more. If that is the case, then I believe Edison is a definite front-runner in terms of quality alone. However, I am unable to know that, and instead I only know my experience, which under the totality of the circumstances, was a little shocking to say the least. So, everything being equal, I will probably look elsewhere to try another company in the future, but I would come back to Edison if I find out this is the trend. I cannot comfortably continue to blindly pay what I equated to about $250-300 an hour without having firsthand knowledge that other companies charge the same. However, and this is important, I have nothing but full confidence that my job was done right, and that it was done by two employees who were very good to work with. So, the short and the long of it is this: Hire Edison if you have a need for an electrician and you want friendly, knowledgeable electricians who will work like heck to get your job done in a timely and professional manner. BUT, beware that it could cost you, and by the time that you see an estimate, it's probably too late to justify calling anyone else.

UPDATE: Edison contacted me in response to the review below. They were apologetic about my poor experience, and provided a refund for the work items with which I was dissatisfied. I am impressed by their efforts to remedy an unfortunate experience and have increased my rating from two to three stars in response. There is likely more than one electrician working at Edison (you'll get a dispatcher when you call), but we got the same guy twice, and were disappointed twice. He seemed to lack basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills. He skipped one of the line items he billed us for, and he broke something else while he was working, which we only discovered later. While he did poor work on the two jobs we hired him for, he was thorough in documenting all the other issues we could pay him to fix. We obviously passed on Edison for our next project and went with Luminous. They completed the project along with another that the Edison guy said wasn't possible, did a great job on both, and came in at half the Edison estimate.
