When I first got to progressive cicero, there was a lot wrong with the school.But Leading up to me leaving, they’ve improved so much in many different departments. They listened to the students suggestions on how to improve and this has helped the students with receiving the proper training. The instructors go above and beyond for us even staying after school to give additional training to those struggling, (much love to Mr.Lopez). And Marta stretches herself thin to make sure everyone is taken care of (thank you Marta). Each instructor is dedicated to helping us reach our goal and is very knowledgeable in their craft. They even fixed the parking lot full of pot holes do we aren’t tearing up our cars driving through there anymore. There’s still improvements needed, like better organization, more patience and understanding from some of the instructors and staff with the students, and more lanes needed for training on skills, but i believe with time, this school will improve even more and can be one of the top schools in illinois again. Thank you to all staff and instructors for going out of your way to ensure i reach my goal.

Just got my CDL with Progressive and took about 3 months. Alot of it is on you but they give you the resources you need to prep you for the state exam. Instructor Gabriel and Lopez were very knowledgeable when it came to this industry and helped out alot.

Overall I have feelings of ambivalence regarding my experiences here. I admit it was ultimately a matter of convenience given my circumstances at that time, which is why I decided to come here. With the exception of a select few, a number of the instructors/staff lacked leadership qualities and were unprofessional, abusive even. The overall environment could be hostile, even toxic at times, it seemed as if the staff/instructors tried to create a hostile environment for those they were looking to weed out. Also aside from pushing certain trucking companies as far as career opportunities, you were on your own in deciding what was best for you. But again, these were my experiences, I know that everyone's experience is different. Personally I would recommend doing your research in deciding where to go as far as getting your CDL, I'm sure that there are better places out there and certain staff/instructors definitely deserved better as far as what they were given to work with. On a related note, from what I was reading anyway Illinois in general has a reputation for being hostile to CDL applicants.

This school is in need of improvement. Luckily there are some great instructors who spend extra time to get students ready and learning somethings we'll actually need when driving. Dennis and Lopez really went above and beyond staying late and coming in on Saturdays to get us ready. You really need to be a self starter and push to get your time in the trucks. Too often the trucks were broken down. Unfortunately they don't want to spend money on fixing trucks but are happy to take your money which the price keeps going up. Some of these problems are not the fault of staff but upper management.

Since i have been attending, the school changed instructors to those that are very knowledgeable and hands on. Tom and Mack are great additions to the program. All the instructors have their own way of teaching, but if you take a little from all, you will be find. I highly recommend joining Progressive, you will not be disappointed.

Happy I went here. Overall decent school but Needs improvement(instructors/trucks). Some Trucks needs major improvement at the very least, mechanically. There are a couple of instructors that are very good on the road such as Dennis which is patient and knowledgeable on how to teach which is important when you’re instructing students. He’s not the only one. So I thank him and the others that take the time to actually instruct.

Facility is clean, personnel is friendly. If you get nauseous with the cigarettes smell just be advice some instructors do smoke while training you. Also it is up to you how long you take to graduate. It took me roughly two months to graduate. Make sure you find your self a crew of people who want to graduate and push each other. Do not stand around and just talk and have fun or you’ll be here up to you a year

They offer support in all aspects to ensure that the students are being treated with respect. This was pretty good school. Some of the instructors sucked, but majority of them were really good. Would recommend to future students. Just watch out there are some heavy smoking instructors when driving the trucks.

Overall experience was overwhelming the first 2 weeks but after getting to know the instructors and staff they made things much easier and hard at times but luckily they give u the time to show and tell what u need to know to get out there and drive those trucks. Progressive is a great school to get your CDL. As long as you listen to all your instructors and put in your part, you will succeed. I appreciate Mark the road instructor for always motivating me and giving me great advice on what to do in the road. Shout out to Tom the pre trip instructor for always teaching the pre trip well and shows you why doing the pre trip plays an important role in trucking. Tom is the big reason why I understand the pre trip properly and he makes sure you succeed in pre trip.

Listen to the instructors and you will be just fine. Also loved the fact that you could come in on a Saturday and practice on whatever you need help with. They also have a variety of inventory trucks new ones and old ones so you will learn how to drive and both of them.

He has an effective way of teaching students how to navigate the truck. Mark is a very good road skills instructor. He has helped me with my shifting so much. The instructors are there to help you. One thing I learned here beside learning how to drive a semi is that everyone has different ways to teach you here and are not robots. They will break down everything you need to know about the truck you will drive in the near future. Some instructors do tend to smoke inside of the tractor but besides that this school really is good. Sometimes they might not have you on schedule to drive but that’s more time to get in and do your pre trip.

My experience with Progressive was great. They have really good driving instructors like Mr. Luis acosta who helped me a lot and the class room instructor. The only thing I didn't like was that I pretty much learn how to perform my skills by my self and other students and one instructor who is not in charge of skills. I was very disappointed in that aspect. I wish the instructor had made the effort to teach me instead of getting food and disappearing for long periods of time. Other than that my experience was really good.

Good instructors at this school- Jerry the driving instructor was very safety focused and I’ll remember his words about the “oh shit” moments I’ll have working. López was my skills guy and he helped me nail that part of the testing which I was worried about. The trucks were pretty beat up though

The experience I had at this place was amazing. Although I feel it can be a little bit better in captivity size. The staff is excellent here as well as the utilities they allow you to use. Majority of everything is hands on activities. So therefore I highly recommend Progressive Driving School.

Progressive school overall is a good school. If you come everyday or when you’re scheduled to come you’ll do just fine. Mind you nothing or no one is perfect but even this school but as long as you pay attention to the instructors and listen to what they have to tell you, all will go well! It’s NOT easy and you may not pass your test in the first try but that’s okay it took me twice for skills and road and as if today I’m DONE... COMPLETE!!!! Cdl driver here I come!

by far the best school in the city. they have great instructors that will push you. to be honest more like drill instructors. when I first stared I was so terrified of driving the big semi, but now it's nothing at all. i considered other schools but this school is by far the best. the staff in the office are a bunch of great humans. they are friendly and willing to help. the upper management is great along with the owner.. this school is run almost like a military camp. that what worked for me.

Good place to get your CDL class A. Location could use a few more new trucks. The driving instructors are very knowledgeable and patient in teaching you the basics. The pre-trip study could use an improvement. However, all-in-all, it is up to the individual how dedicated and determined you are to understand and finish on time. I will most definitely say that this is a very very good school. Instructors were great, overall staff members were very professional with the exception of Ana whom at times was rude to students. There were times where she forgot to inform us of things and tried to put the blame on us the students. My classroom instructor Ricardo was unbelievably great at teaching us pre-trip day in and day out. Reggie the skills instructor did a great job at helping me perfect my skills and parking. My driving instructors, Larry and Lee helped me out in so many ways. I had zero experience and they helped me get to where I am today. The only reason I didn't rate this 5 full stars is due to the owner. I really hope she sees this review, her lack of respect for her staff members was both unprofessional and disappointing. I am only hoping she changes her rude ways as I was close to leaving this school. She makes threats to fire people if they don't play by her childish rules and expel students for minor offenses. Example: no cell phone policy. She flat out told one classmate while outside the facility that "cell phone not permitted on premises, I don't care if it's an emergency." Everyone would appreciate if we were treated as adults. She does not appreciate the hard work all instructors put into this school or the staff members that help run it.

Overall pretty good school I have nothing to complain about it really saw nothing wrong, you'll find things that really don't agree with but it all will make sense as you go. If you have questions or concerns just ask a member of the staff there really friendly and will guide you through it. If I were to start over and choose a school again, I would choose progressive Truck diving school.

Also, the office administrators keep you updated, informed of your progress and expectations to acquire your CDL. I recommend going the the Cicero location, you will be in great hands. Look for Ricardo he is the Class instructor, great teacher with a great personality. Regi over on skills knows all the tricks, listen to the man trust me. Like Mr. Ricardo always says "In this business you have to be willing to suffer". Anyway he has taught me that in order for me to be successful I have to be the 007 in everything that I do.

If you want a CDL-A, Progressive is the school to train at. I did the 200 hr program, graduated on time, and already had a job waiting for me as soon as i passed my test. Great instructors, nice staff, and they all work together to help you get your CDL-A.

Although there were some times I would get tired and bored, but that's only cuz I would finish early and had nothing to do but sit in the classroom. Great school for adults that are serious about getting a CDL. Ms. Francine is the best on getting you ready for pre trip. Peyton is really good too. Terrell and Reggy are great on showing you skills. My favorite on the road teachers are Lee, Dennis, Luis and Peyton. I was treated very well and learned a lot. If I needed help I asked and always got it. I got my CDL in 6 weeks and spent 240 hours there. I do recommend at least 200 hours. Anything less is a gamble since it is very diffulct to learn so much so quickly.

In 8 weeks, I went from knowing nothing about trucks to being able to name every part of a TRUCK, FRONT to BACK, WHAT IT DOES, WHAT DEFECTS TO LOOK FOR, HOW TO DRIVE, SHIFT UP AND DOWN, PARK, BACK UP, STOP, WHAT IS DANGEROUS, WHAT IS LEGAL, AND WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A TRUCKER IN RESPECT TO THE OPERATIONAL SAFETY OF MY TRUCK. CLYDE's humor makes learning easy. His lessons stick in such a way that I think he'd be an excellent SCHOOL TEACHER AS WELL. He and ROCKY aren't beyond going over a suspension or break test with you PERSONALLY and both want to see you succeed. They are easy to ask questions to and will work with you until you get it all down. My PRE TRIP test was a breeze thanks to these two. My SKILLS INSTRUCTORS MARCO, LUIS, AND LARRY will likely be the most memorable for me. Marco is very helpful and his warm smile makes learning to PARALLEL PARK a TRUCK seem almost simple. He smiles like a proud papa when you finally get it. LUIS is the stern one who's just as warm as he is passionate about your learning. You come to adore his rants because you realize he only wants you to do well and he gets so excited when you do. They only make you WANT to get better. LARRY is calm cool and collected with a sense of humor that helps you see a mistake is NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. He helps you to NOT GET DISCOURAGED during the learning process and will do all he can to help, when asked. My ROAD INSTRUCTOR, LEON (LEE) has been amazing. His sterness can seem harsh but watch his face when you make it back to the school WITHOUT STALLING OUT THE TRUCK. That smile is worth every correction. And when you pass all your test, they ALL are like PROUD PARENTS saying to you "I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT. YOU HAD ME AS YOUR INSTRUCTOR" I can't say I have one negative word to say about ANY of my instructors. The office staff isn't to be forgotten either. Anna and Aghata are like the BIG SISTERS of the school. Theirs is by far the hardest job. They are the sounding boards, schedulers, problem solvers, organizers and overseers as well as many other jobs they perform on a daily basis. Yet, they will make time to discuss your concerns and do what they can to help. The door is always open, just knock first. It's no easy task to keep track of 100s of students paperwork. BOB the employment guy (for lack of a better word) will make sure you KNOW your options. If Bob gives you a company to call...CALL THEM. They honor BOB. LOL. which brings me to GINA The BOSS. While some may think Gina is hard to approach, I understand her position. Running a business is a very DEMANDING JOB, However, the pride that she displays when her students graduate can't be denied or matched by anything. She has absolutely no problem in telling you how proud she is of you. There are a few more staff who I didn't spend as much time with but, when I got my CDL they ALL wore the same badge of success. I'm going to miss EVERYONE that helped me to this point. And while Progressive isn't perfect, they were perfect for me. Education is tricky. They can give you the blue print. But you must build the structure. I would recommend this school with this advice, Progressive will TEACH you but, it's up to you to learn the lesson being taught. Thank you Progressive for helping me along the way.
