I’m thankful for Dr. Clendenin lll. He is very compassionate about his job. It was refreshing to see a doctor who was not in a hurry to get you out, he took the time to explain everything and answer any questions I had. Best beside manner by far. The test I had was not the easiest and I had to have it done on my upper extremities and lower extremities. Dr. and staff were so thoughtful and split it up so I wouldn’t have to do it all in one visit. They truly care about their patients and made me feel really comfortable so the tests were a breeze. I would recommend Dr. Clendenin and staff to everyone.

October 13, 2020 Exceptional care! I arrived (my mistake) for my appointment a week early and they worked me in. I waited no more than 15 minutes before Dr. Shell saw me. This appointment was to be only a follow-up to recent surgery. I mentioned that I had swelling in my knee. Dr. Shell examined it and suggested that he drain fluid from it. After he removed quite a bit, he followed by injecting cortisone into the joint. All this was done quickly and with little discomfort. As a result, my knee pain is all but gone. HORRIBLE ORGANIZATION. We checked in at our appointment time, and were left sitting, with no explanation, for 30 minutes. At that point, we overheard the staff tell another patient that Dr. Karpos was running 45 minutes behind, meaning we’d be waiting another 20-30 minutes. The patient went downstairs to smoke, since there was a delay. They immediately called him back, so I phoned downstairs—he hadn’t even gotten to the door yet. Nurse said she’d return in two minutes to retrieve him. We waited ANOTHER 20-30 minutes. We like the physician fine, but we already had to reschedule once, because of these delays! Ridiculous.

I had meniscus repair surgery done on my right knee in 2017; my wife had the same surgery done in 2019. Dr. McGehee was our surgeon in both instances-we have both had tremendous recoveries and getting back to nearly normal lifestyles. My left knee now requires the same-I got an appointment with Dr. McGehee within 6 hours of calling TOA!!! His demeanor, professionalism, compassion, knowledge, along with his nurse Sarah, make a seemingly unpleasant situation not only bearable, but actually as pleasurable as is possible!!!

I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Todd, whom I’ve seem several times for back pain. He clearly explained each procedure for managing my pain and the expected outcome. I found my experience at TOA and with Dr Corn very satisfying. I never had to wait longer than eight minutes after checking in before Dr Corn’s nurse Kim would take me back for X-rays and then to an exam room to see Dr Corn. Dr Corn was very prompt and took time to explain the procedure to me and what I could expect from my bunion ectomy. The procedure went exactly as explained to me. After filling out paperwork in a comfortable waiting room, my appointment began exactly on time. First, x-rays (no waiting) were quickly and painlessly completed. Following a time of waiting in a typical exam room (during which Dr. Greenburg viewed the x-rays and my history), he warmly welcomed me and my wife. He examined my knee manually and asked pertinent questions. Next, he put us at ease by telling us that my knee was mechanically in good shape. The pain was caused by some arthritis between my knee cap and the knee joint. He recommended I continue with an anti-inflammatory my primary care physician had prescribed and that he give me a cortisone shot. Then he sprayed my knee with a very cold spray which numed me so that I did not feel the needle (no pain), only a slight pressure as the medicine was injected. He told me that the medicine would soon begin to take effect and would reach its full efficacy in 4-5 days. He told me to return if this did not fix my problem or if at some future point I needed another injection. It was a GREAT experience and my knee started feeling better within hours. I don't know how this experience could have been much better.

I had a very nice experience with my appointment with Dr. Karpos. He discussed with me all the information that he saw on my X-ray of left and right knees and left hip. There is one bit of information that I wanted to tell him and I forgot to mention it to him. I contacted the shingles back in Dec. of 2018 and they settled in my replaced knee. I had terrible pain and was prescribed hydrocodone and Gabapentin by a Dr. here. I was on them about 2 months. Had an X-ray done and it showed no damage to my knee. I had meant to discuss this with Dr. Karpos at my visit on Friday but as I said I forgot it. Please see that he gets this info in case he wants it in my file.

I liked him, Dr Christian, I think/hope he did a good job w my knee, it is healing quite well and he is super nice but...some things could have been done better. First of all, I was told I could likely get my surgery in before the end of the year, and I thought I did everything right, I did not wait til the last minute and followed directions,. but then I was told later by the scheduler there was no way/wasn’t possible before the end of year, in part it was likely Cigna’s fault also, I am not naive to that possibility...then post surgery I was given minimal pain meds and I am a solid 215lbs. 5 mg of percocet did nothing and I suffered big time the first 2-3 days. I should have been given 10mg initially but had to call them back and ask, and it was difficult to fill from the start(that’s on the pharmacy). After a week and half to 2 weeks following the meds schedule, I needed a refill of just 5mg, only PRN, for emergencies or after PT and they said they could not send it in to the pharmacy, that I would have to pick it up in person downtown...on crutches. Um no, not smart, and I had no one to pick it up for me so I waited days until my next dr appt in MJ, but thought that was all so unnecessary and difficult. I also think I should have been explained more thoroughly how the surgery went/what he did in detail, but I mainly got confusing pics and generic aftercare protocol, and ensured it “went well”. So as far as his personality and hopefully the actual surgery: I rate him high, as far as the rest and the pain care, there is room for improvement. Hope this helps someone else. I did think the front desk lady was extra nice btw.

I had a good experience with TOA, Saint Thomas West location. The team was very helpful, as was Dr. Corn. I was able to get all my questions answered, and Dr. Corn was very polite. The only issue was finding the location - the link shared with me in a confirmation email concerning the location takes you to Harding Place, and not Harding Pike where the hospital is actually located. Also, there aren’t any signs once you arrive at the hospital campus to guide you TOA’s location - I had to guess which building it was in. Overall, after I arrived at the correct location, I was pleased with my visit. I would definitely recommend TOA!

I was brought to the emergency room by a co-worker after an accident doing tree work .Upon signing in I met Dr. Corn .I was concerned that I was going to have my foot amputated and he immediately put my mind at ease .He said No. I was in surgery shortly thereafter and when I awoke in recovery Dr. Corn came in and told me that with the help of some hardware everything went fine and about a month later I still don.t feel much pain .I don.t know if anyone else could.ve done a better job than Dr Corn but I am very grateful he was in the hospital that day .As for the follow up appointments I go to everyone at TOA seem to like their jobs very much and I think they are all professionals at what they do .
