Today I had the privilege and pleasure to meet and listen to Dr Miles. He is a fountain of useful information and anecdotes and when he summarizes his mini lectures with key takeaway points it leaves you smiling. Dr. Cone and his team are THE BEST! My experience at Nuance Dental Specialists was the most enjoyable dental experience I've ever had! The office is exceptionally clean, very comfortable, and Dr. Cone is so personable, it doesn't feel like you're even at the dentist in the best way! I am the reigning Miss Vermont USA, and I received a whitening treatment and a cleaning. Nuance made sure my smile is "pageant white"! I used to occasionally use whitening filters on my photos- not anymore!! And the cleaning was a comfortable process! Choose Nuance Dental Specialists! Definitely won't regret it!

I first went to Nuance Dental to get some information about teeth whitening. Not only did I get whiter teeth, but I now have a new dentist that I want to visit and I feel like I have also made new friends! From the first moment I was greeted at the door, I felt like I was a long lost friend! Dr Cone (he prefers to be called Miles!), and his lovely wife and business partner Cornelia, are warm and inviting and made me feel so comfortable - just visiting good friends, not going to the dentist! But they are 100% professional, answered all of my questions, and provided me with the information I needed to make good decisions about my dental health and needs. They have protocols in place to make you feel safe in their environment as we all struggle with coronavirus, including only 1 patient in the office at a time (this was extremely important to me). After a lengthy consultation, we decided on Zoom whitening. I was very anxious about the treatment, so Miles stayed in the room with me for the entire 45 minute treatment, just to make sure I was comfortable and if I needed anything he was right by my side. And the results are amazing! My teeth are white! Not the dingy gray and yellow they were when I first walked into their offices. Thank you Miles and Cornelia! I am thrilled with the results and look forward to coming to see you for my regular visits! Like old friends...

Hands down the best dentistry in terms of professionalism, ethics, and transparency. I use it for all my dental needs and would recommend to all who can afford high quality dental care (they first charge you and then insurance covers some of that, so be ready to cover the whole bill after treatment). I've been going to Dr. Cone since I moved to Portland two years ago, and he's the only dentist I've ever had who makes me feel relaxed and not nervous or anxious. He's also the most careful dentist I've ever had when it comes to not inflicting pain. His office is beautifully relaxing, his staff are great, and his chairside manner is perfect. (Driving hours to meet with his ceramist to make sure the crowns are a perfect color match, working weekends and over time, you name it). I had dental implants done in Costa Rica that later got infected and needed to be removed. The experience left me with several missing teeth, made eating certain foods difficult and made me feel socially awkward when talking. When I first met Dr. Cone, I was right away impressed with his professionalism. He understood my concerns, made me feel comfortable and took the time to explain each step of the process. In my opinion Dr. Cone is a perfectionist who gives his patients the best smiles. I am very glad Dr. Cone worked on my case and made it possible for me to enjoy my favorite foods and to be an outgoing person again. I felt totally comfortable with him. Dr. Cone and Cornelia were great to work with, they are amazing. From my first meeting with them both, they were easy to work with and very focused on getting the results that I wanted. Dr. Cone is a perfectionist, which I loved, because he completed two crowns for me, one of which was on a front tooth. I had needed a crown for several years, but other dental professionals I had talked to about it, wanted to put a crown on both front teeth because they didn't want to just do one front tooth and I never liked that approach. Dr. Cone never suggested that, he was totally comfortable to crown just the one front tooth. Now my teeth look totally amazing and totally natural, you would never know that two are crowned. I cannot recommend Dr. Cone and Cornelia enough!

Dr.Miles is the best dentist I have seen. I get very nervous going to the dentist. Dr.Cone made me feel at easy which is very important for me. He takes his time and explain every step of the procedure while being very witty and approachable. I went to Nuance Dental Specialists for a cleaning and Zoom! whitening treatment. Dr. Cone is an excellent dentist, with genuine chair side manner and an eye for detail. His office is clean, relaxing, and has great style, music and décor. His office is equipped with the most advance dental technologies. I had such a great experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better teeth cleaning and whitening! Dr. Cone was incredibly patient and understanding with me, listening to my concerns about the aesthetic of my teeth and oral health. I was pretty nervous about the pain and sensitivity during the treatment but staff was attentive, constantly checking in to make sure I was feeling ok and if I needed anything. My Zoom whitening session was a great success, my teeth have never looked so amazing! I am thrilled to have found this office and will absolutely be back in 6 months for another whitening treatment and cleaning.

My visit to Nuance Dental Specialists was the best I’ve had by far! To start off, it is located in downtown Portland which can be very convenient. When I first walked into this dentist office I felt calm and relaxed. The atmosphere is peaceful. I have known Miles Cone since he began working at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. I have also shadowed him at a private office. His quality of work and attention to detail is invaluable to his patients and the students he teaches. He does great work with anterior crowns and works with a ceramist to achieve the most realistic result. I have seen dentures that he has done that look so realistic that I wouldn't know they were dentures. He listens to his patients, whether they are looking for straight, white teeth or something that matches the characteristics/ natural flaws of the existing teeth. He photographs many of his cases and his work is featured with the American College of Prosthodontics. He is always willing to discuss cases with his students and talk about treatment options. I would trust Dr. Cone to work on my teeth.

I have been afraid of going to the dentist for years and my teeth showed it. After one visit with Miles I felt comfortable enough to allow him to do multiple fillings, an implant, and a crown. He did my girlfriend's veneers and they came out beautifully. All in all he is the best dentist in Maine and if you are going somewhere else you are making a huge mistake. There is literally nobody else in Maine that takes the art of dentistry (and it is an art) more seriously. I called in late in the afternoon because of a braces emergency. It was the most amazing dental experience ever! At 8:00 pm I got my braces emergency fixed in a matter of seconds. You'd be hard pressed to find a more professional, talented, capable, diligent, and accommodating dentist than Dr. Miles Cone. For the past ten years or so, I've been reluctant to smile in photos due to an average looking front crown. After my first initial appointment with Nuance, I knew I had come to the right place. My concerns were listened to, my questions answered, and options given. Dr. Cone wouldn't promise the moon, but I'm here to say that after my crown was replaced, he delivered an entire galaxy. The process and work he did was A+ all the way through. He walked me through the different stages, kept me updated on what was happening, and delivered top-tier service from start to finish. I challenge anyone to try and figure out what tooth he did, its that flawless and seamless. I'm smiling now. Big, goofy smiles. I'm no longer self-conscious. I don't mind my photo being taken. I was Dr. Miles Cone’s full mouth restoration patient when he was a resident in the Army’s Prosthodontics training program at Fort Gordon, GA. I was accepted into the program because I had worn down my teeth due to excessive grinding of my teeth (bruxism). I have 20 crowns, 5 in-lays/on-lays that Dr. Cone I did and still do chew through night guards, however the crowns and bridge Dr. Cone made and inserted have done very well and have not cracked or failed. Dr. Cone was meticulous in evaluating, modelling, and preparing my teeth to receive the crowns, bridge and in-lays/on-lays. His attention to detail is excellent. Dr. Cone asks pertinent questions and listens to the answers to his questions. He communicates and explains the course of treatment in terms a patient understands. One of Dr. Cone’s major strengths is his artistic ability. In our discussions about how I wanted my teeth to look led us to choose a natural look versus white chiclets. I was over the age of 40 when we were doing my restoration, teeth age with use and he captured the natural look of teeth for every crown and the bridge for someone my age. The bridge is something very special. My bridge looks like individual teeth that slightly overlap laterally and it looks like natural teeth. Dr. Cone is an innovator who gives a lot of thought to the treatment of his patients. He is always learning and ask questions to expand his knowledge of dentistry and prosthodontics. During my three years of treatment I noted that he would consult colleagues and mentors to insure he was using the best technique to provide the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. Despite my excessive teeth grinding (bruxism) my ceramic crowns have not experienced any deterioration. I wear my night guard every night. If you experience bruxism you must wear your night guard every night, religiously or you will damage your teeth, whether they are your natural teeth or ceramic crowns. Dentists that I have seen since completing my restoration and retiring from the Army have all noted the margins of my crowns and the bridge. They are impressed by the margins of the crowns and they all said that they could not duplicate Dr. Cone’s work. These dentists marvel at the structure of my bridge. They all agree that my teeth look natural and don’t know about the bridge, until they probe the gum line at the bridge. This speaks to the look of the teeth that Dr. Cone crafted. I had an opportunity to see a Prosthodontist where I live now and it just happened that she was on Dr. Cone’s board. She remembered his presentation of my case and was excited to get a chance to examine my restoration work. Dr. Cone’s presentation to her and the board had occurred over five years before, that she remembered my case and Dr. Cone’s work is impressive and speaks volumes regarding Dr. Cone’s abilities. I highly recommend Dr. Miles Cone as a Dentist and Prosthodontist. You will be seeing a Prosthodontist who is highly technically proficient, artistically talented, with an excellent chair side manner. He is personable and explains the course of treatment without sounding aloof. He is always looking for and thinking about the best way to perform a procedure or course of treatment.

I honestly couldn't have had a better experience! First of all, the building is gorgeous and I was impressed from the time I got in the elevator. When I arrived at the 3rd floor I was greeted by a man who introduced himself as Miles and he reached out and gave me a great handshake. After filling out some "paperwork" aka they have great technology and all I had to do was enter info on an iPad, I was escorted to the treatment room where I had an appointment for a cleaning and a whitening treatment. I was very impressed by the fact that Miles himself did my cleaning because he said "he would rather see the cleaning process himself" so he knows what is actually happening and knows what is going on. This impressed me because I've never been for a cleaning before where a "hygienist " did the cleaning and then the actual Doctor came in after for inspection. I chose to get the whitening treatment and was appropriately educated beforehand. The entire time I was there I felt attended to; one of the great things about this place is they don't overbook. I really can't speak higher of this place!!

Dr. Cone did my crowns in the front. The old ones I had were big and bulky. I didn't even know until Dr. Cone re did them, that the old ones looked bad. Dr. Cone did all ceramic crowns. He was meticulous about matching the color with my other teeth, and made them look natural. You can't even tell that they are crowns. Great experience.
