Dr. Tieken is an amazing human being. Having him for my dentist for the past 30 years has been such a great experience. It’s generational in my family. My children grew up coming here and now my grandkids. He stays so relevant to his clients because he takes the time to be current in his field and he truly knows his patients and their stories. He consistently gives to his patients and his community because that is his heart. I highly recommend him.

Just finished up the last of my 🦷 plan with Dr. Tieken and his team. I will be honest I was not looking forward to it. But to my surprise I got the most Amazing dental assistant. Her name is Felicia. Yes you can remember her with “Bye Felicia”. She made me feel at ease as she worked on my teeth. She did everything to perfection without having to re-do it several times. Dr. Tieken has always been Extremely welcoming and has always made me feel very comfortable in his office. I have no doubt you will have the same experience once you visit them!

I have been going to Dr. Tieken since 2017 so when my son's dentist retired a few months back it was a no-brainer to bring him over to the Tieken family. Today was my son's first appointment. As usual the staff was wonderful and made him very comfortable. From the awesome ladies at the front desk to Dr. Tieken it was a great experience for him. Of course Lauren had to be the one to do his first cleaning because she is my favorite!! Dr. Tieken and his staff definitely deserve a 5 star review!!!

Tieken Smiles is easily the best dentist I've ever been to. The staff really cares about each patient and makes sure to accommodate for any concerns you may have regarding treatment. Lauren is usually my hygienist and she is such a sweet and genuine human being that it immediately calms my nerves about being in the dentist's office. Dr. Tieken is a consummate professional and I always know that my treatment is on the right track when he comes to check in on my progress. A year ago, I looked like a completely different person. I used to cover my face when laughing so that no one would see how crooked my smile was. My face has completely changed thanks to the Tieken smiles team and I'm happy to say that I can now laugh, smile, and speak without being tempted to hide my mouth. This is a team that will give you a new smile and a new level of confidence. I can't possibly recommend Tieken smiles and their clear correct program enough. They're truly miracle workers.

As someone with a ton of allergies (metals, latex and foods) it was hard for me to find a dentist office that I felt - worried about my wellbeing/safety... as much as I have to. The entire staff at Tieken Smiles Dentistry has been so friendly, welcoming and have gone out of their way to make sure that I am always safe while under their care. I am constantly amazed with the new top of the line technology (tools and gadgets) used at this office. I would highly recommend this office to anyone, even if you are not shopping for a new dentist!

The entire staff is amazing here. Ever since I left my pediatric dentist, I have MAJOR dentist anxiety. But Dr. Rutherford and his team always go out of their way to make me feel absolutely comfortable with what they’re doing and explain everything well enough so I understand exactly what’s going on. I cannot express more how I recommend going here. Lauren and Chelsea have been fantastic at their jobs and I cannot thank them enough for their comfort and understanding for my situation. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a better dental experience than I did at Tieken Smiles Dentistry. When I arrived, I was given a tour of the facility and introduced to staff. The dental hygienist interviewed me and asked key questions regarding my health and comfort level. Then, the dentist came in and provided a number of options for my treatment. I was looking at cosmetic treatment, so it’s being delayed for a few months. They also gave me a cute welcome gift and a breakdown of pricing in my customer packet.

My wife and I loved our time as patients here. Unfortunately, they are no longer “in network” for us. But they clearly put a strong emphasis on customer service and we never were in the waiting room for longer than 5 or so minutes. They have very nice offices and lots of cool monthly giveaways. I'm writing an early review thus far and have not had anything done. When I walked in, I had tears in my eyes and embarrassment over my dental health. I needed some exposure to this phobia of dentists from multiple past traumatic experiences in my teens and early 20's. The staff seemed to not just acknowledge me, but they seemed empathetic. Daisy showed me around and I even met Dr. Rutherford. We talked about our similar hobbies which helped me feel a personal connection. When I say I have a phobia, it's extreme. And from previous comments, I feel I'm not the only one. I hope the next few visits will help me achieve my goals and alleviate this phobia so I can move on to my next challenge in life. It won't be easy for me at first, but I actually do trust I'm in good hands. I felt everything was sincere in nature. I left still nervous, but not as bad. I felt like maybe I'm overthinking with negative thoughts and feel I'll have no choices. Maybe I will have choices and maybe my teeth and my perception is not as doom and gloom as I feel. The personal connection and for me to feel I trust someone is pretty major. But I feel I won't have any pain or unpleasantness with them.

Today was another dental hygienist visit. I do this 3 times a year because digestion begins in the mouth, and it makes good horse sense to have frequent cleanings, as it curbs the growth of bacteria which can leak into your bloodstream and ultimately impact your heart. I love my 8+mile walks in Galveston and hope to continue them! As I have mentioned in previous reviews, the quality of service here is just wow-great, and why I continue to visit. I may pay a little more than some other places charge, but the peace-of-mind and assurance of being attended to by some of the best in this business would be enough for most people. It is priceless to me. Highly recommended.

Great team who really care about giving everyone individualized treatments. My husband and I recommend this office to everyone. They treat you like family. Update: Chelsea (Dental Assistant) and Dr. Rutherford recently helped me through the process to get a dental implant. I was extremely nervous about the procedure, and they were great about making every step comfortable and making sure that I was informed about the process the whole way. I'm very grateful to have their help in bringing back my smile. I would definitely recommend this team to anyone in the area, especially if you're nervous at the Dentist. This is the team that will change your mind about going to the dentist.

As someone with a handful of teeth problems, I've unfortunately been to a lot of dentists in my life. When I moved to the area and was looking for a new dental office to go to, I must admit, I was at first skeptical that Tieken Smiles had only 5 star reviews- I thought to myself, how is that possible? But after my first visit with them this afternoon, I can say without a doubt they are by far the nicest dental office I have ever, and probably will ever, go to. They had top of the line technology and dental equipment (they take a swab of your mouth and show you all the bacteria hanging out in there- how cool!), the entire office was extremely clean, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming that I didn't want to leave! Dr. Rutherford, Darby, Ashley and everyone else I met during my visit were all super kind, engaging, and informative. And while I don't think most people necessarily "enjoy" going to the dentist- I had an extremely pleasant time. Tiffany was also super helpful when it came to figuring out insurance at the end of my visit. She was extremely knowledgeable and had all the answers to what felt like my endless questions. I am very happy to have found Tieken Smiles and am looking forward to going back! :)

I am so fearful of the dentist, and teeth stuff in general. The staff, from walking in until I left, were the absolute kindest and did everything humanly possible to make sure I was comfortable and in control. They told me and showed me the state of my teeth and helped me understand my options. They did not try to oversell me, they didn't try to push anything, and they didn't make me feel like I had no choices. This is absolutely how all dentist experiences should be, I will never be able to go anywhere else but here.

Honestly, the best dentist I’ve ever been to!🤩 I went earlier in the week & Darby did a great job with my cleaning & x-rays. She was so kind & informative. Today I had to get some new filings as well as some old ones replaced… Dr. Rutherford & Penny took AMAZING care of me. I felt like royalty. They made me as comfortable as possible, we did everything at my pace, & everything that was being done was communicated so well. He cared. He was gentle. He didn’t want anything he was doing to hurt. I mean Penny rubbed on my shoulder while I was getting the numbing shots!! What?! Like wow. I felt like a princess. I honestly don’t have one single complaint. I have another appointment next week & I’m not anxious in the tiniest bit. That’s a lot coming from someone with high anxiety & horrible past experiences with dentist. Y’all keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing phenomenal!! I appreciate y’all. So thankful I am a patient at yalls office. Truly. P.S. Forgive me, because I forgot yalls names but the lady at the front desk is precious & super sweet. The lady who gave me a tour is beautiful & just a doll. The lady (Carol I think) who scheduled my next appointments was just great & so funny. We hit it off immediately & we’re laughing together. This was my first appointment with Tieken Smiles Dentistry and I will definitely be back! Everyone from the front desk receptionist to the X-ray tech to the Hygienist to Dr. Rutherford were all very engaging, kind, and professional. They all made me feel comfortable and listened to my concerns. Dr. Rutherford was honest about what he felt were my best options for a couple of concerns I had and I never felt like he was pressuring me to do one procedure over the other - although he did give me his opinion he didn’t make me feel like that was what I had to do if I didn’t feel comfortable with it. I have a game plan for the care I need for my mouth that I feel comfortable with starting. Would definitely recommend them. And Lauren, my Hygienist, did a great job and was very gentle!

I’ve got a secret… I haven’t been to the dentist since the Rona locked everything down. 😬 My teeth have started falling apart (literally) so I finally decided to switch dental practices and called Tieken Smiles. I’m so glad I did! They were able to fit me in right away to assess the situation and work out a treatment plan. Everyone I met was very friendly (while still professional) and Chelsea was so sweet when I broke down in tears over how bad my teeth have gotten. The lobby is large and comfortable. If a dentist’s office/lobby is unkempt and rundown, I’m unlikely to want to go back so the fact that it all looks new or at least well taken care of, makes me want to return here. Dr. Tieken seemed very warm and caring and I feel confident that he will get my dental health back on track.

Had never undergone teeth whitening treatment before in my 40something years so was a bit skeptical about the KoR Whitening procedure. But it was on sale and I have always been happy about my dental care at Tieken. I was surprised by how much better my teeth looked after the treatment. Am including a pic. It’s a bit of a $ investment and does involve a bit of discomfort since it involves putting peroxide on your teeth over 14 days + a long visit in the office - but I was used to discomfort what with my recent stint with braces. But boy the difference! Plus the Tieken politeness, helpfulness + immaculately clean office + the extras like lavender-scented heated wash towels (and/or a warm blanket and/or headphone)!

I'm pleased to write this review. Having ptsd from many previous dental experiences, I am the typical white knuckle patient. My pain was about a 7, & I had to be sure it was not an infection. They were able to squeeze me into their schedule next day. The office is extremely clean, relaxing & inviting, not like the days of old dental offices. Tracy was amazing at communicating to this big baby. She was gentle enough that I didn't tense my whole body & hold my breath as usual. It's been ages since my last cleaning, because it gives me anxiety, but this was surprisingly a pleasant experience. The dentist was informative, calm & friendly explaining the most critical needs and my options. I've already scheduled my next visit. Thank you so much to all!!

While it was a lot to take in on a first visit, this was probably the greatest place I’ve ever had to go for an appointment across the board. It was a very clean and roomy environment, with very well utilized space. The staff were all hands down perfect which lead to a truly relaxing experience. I went to Dr. Tieken due to a periodontal issue which needed to be corrected with a veneer. Dr. Tieken had no problem consulting with my periodontist and went above and beyond to make sure the veneer was made exactly as needed to help resolve my issue. My periodontist was very happy with Dr. Tieken's work and highly impressed with his credentials and dentistry background. I also had the pleasure of meeting and having Dr. Rutherford do some bonding, in a couple of areas, that I was extremely pleased with. I've always recieved quality care with the staff at Tieken Smiles Dentistry. Its hard to find a good quality dentist facility in town. My hygienist, Lindsay has been so nice and informative with my about my dental health as well and recommending preventative care for slowly developing issues I have with the pictures they document for progression and history. There isn't any pressure or push to "sell" to you as your health and needs come first. I was allowed to be given time and awareness of any residing problems to be aware of and I could plan accordingly. Worth the drive if you don't have a good dentist!

Update:3/17/2021 I have been on a dental journey with Dr. Tieken and his staff for over a year now and am slowly getting a handle on my dental health! Everyone is so kind and caring and Dr. Tieken is the BEST! Don’t be afraid! Dr. Tieken and his staff are so wonderful! I’ve had the best experience with their office! Update: Although a millimeter may seem relatively small to most people, however, it can be a big thing to another individual. I have never had a nice, symmetrical smile. So, when my implant crown came from the lab slightly shorter and a different shape, I was a little disappointed. My disappointment was met with patience and understanding from Dr. Tieken and Felicia. I had 5 veneers placed, and 1 implant crown. The veneers are beautiful and I’m completely happy with them! We’ve already discussed the changes to the implant crown and Dr. Tieken is helping me achieve my dream of a more symmetrical smile. This office is truly wonderful and I appreciate their dedication to their patients. Update: I received my temporaries today! This has been a long process because my case is complicated. (Genetically missing permanent teeth, needed an implant, among other things) I had looked at photographs and Dr. Tieken had shown me a model of a case similar to mine, but I didn’t fully comprehend what it would be like until I looked in the mirror and saw my smile. It’s truly amazing! ...and these are only the temporaries! Dr. Tieken and Felicia made me feel at ease through the whole process and even sent me home with a smoothie after! Love this office! My family has been going through some unusual times needing to move several times due to mold health issues. This office has been so supportive and caring. Dr. Tieken and Lindsey did extra scanning on my tongue to ensure scar tissue was not anything to be concerned about. I am going to need a crown which is never something I want to hear, however, I know they will take care of me which puts me at ease. Dr. Tieken's office is awesome. So I found Dr. Tieken online and reading reviews. I would like to say that I have had such an amazing experience with them I wish I could not only recommend all my friends and family here, but force them to switch to this practice just because of how important I felt they valued their patients alone. I set up a consultation about my interest in Lumineers with Dr. Tieken and the whole process has been so easy and comforting. After my first visit for the consult, which was free, they gifted me goodie bag with a soft blanket, a little dental kit, and a thank you note just for coming in, this was before I had even committed to them for my dental work. Dr. Tieken answered all my questions, was super patient with me, went over all possible options, and even explained to me cheaper options and things I could even work on at home that could help me achieve the smile I wanted. After I shopped around and did more research I truly felt Tieken Smiles Dentistry was the best choice for me and for once I couldn’t be more right! I worked with Carol Kling throughout the finance side of it and she was so helpful and kind. Laid out all possible paths for me for payment options I could take. She broke everything down to the penny for you to see exactly what you are paying for and no hidden fees. I never once felt they were being pushy or just in it to get more money from me (I was doing a cosmetic procedure for those who don’t know what Lumineers are so I was paying out of pocket) Dr. Tieken even offered a military discount for me and a new retainer once my new teeth were in for zero cost. ( Since previously I had braces and was concerned about the possibility of my teeth shifting and my old retainer being unable to fit the shape of my new teeth.) Due to COVID my appointments were canceled and pushed back a few times, understandably, but the staff kept it a priority to stay connected in keeping me and I’m sure all their patients updated and in the loop consistently with efforts to maintain patient/customer satisfaction through out these difficult times. Once office was able to open again they promptly got me an appointment in with Dr. Tieken. Let me tell you I thought this place was super nice and cleanly already but they have defiantly taken measures above and beyond expectation to ensure not only the best comfort and safety for the patients and their staff. I could go on and on about how amazing I truly think this office and ALL it’s employees are, from front desk warm welcome greetings every time to every person walking in or calling the office, to the dental assistants and hygienist, Carol in the finance department, and Dr. Tieken and Penny (DA who I love having in there she makes me feel very at ease and a very fun bubbly person to be around to where I don’t even feel I’m at the dentist) who have been working on my case are absolutely awesome. When I heard from Dr. Tieken’s office he was going to need a root canal I panicked. Dr. Tieken and Dr. Donnell put all my fears to rest. My son’s experience was excellent. He came out of the root canal experience unscathed and his tooth Dr. Donnell sculpted turned out perfect. She took her time to make sure he was comfortable with the process and with making sure his tooth was spot on. She and even called us later that night to check in on him. When I was doing research for a dentist in my area, one of the major details I was looking for was the accreditation American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Dr. Tieken's office kept making the "filter" cut. From the moment you walk in, you realize the "dentist phobia" you had growing up is a thing of the past. A beautiful facility trimmed out in fun colors and current decor, state of the art technology, a professional yet friendly and eager staff, and Dr. Tieken's involvement with not only his patients but the community made me feel I was at the right place. I never felt rushed and the staff is well educated and informative. In my experience, his rates from cosmetic dental work to routine teeth cleaning are very competitive and I never get "up-sold" to pad the bill. I have been a Tieken patient for about 3 years now and can't imagine going anywhere else. It sounds crazy but it really is a fun place to go! I actually look forward to my dental appointments. Another plus I need to mention is I always have the same hygienist (Lindsay) to do the routine cleaning. I think this is brilliant in building relationships and improving overall oral health care.
