Everyone was SUPER friendly, from reception to the technicians and the dentist, the whole visit was just ridiculously pleasant, like all the employees are happy to be alive and even happier to be working there. I had a lot of questions as an uninsured, dentist shy, habitual anti-flosser and everybody was helpful and patient. Dr. Sass's staff are all professionals and made me feel quite comfortable after losing my dentist of 14 year to retirement. I didn't think he could be replaced. Truly a family practice! My family of 4 all go to WLFD and recently my 2 girls had their cleanings done. They are currently 2yrs and 5 yrs. My older child tends to have anxiety in medical/dental situations, but our hygienist was so patient and happily explained all the steps of the process in a child friendly way, so she knew just what to expect. She even had X-rays done for the first time, which she was nervous about. My 2 yr old watched her older sister’s visit and couldn’t wait to climb in the chair and have her turn! Both girls left with big smiles, proudly holding their new toothbrushes. Every member of the team at this practice seems to genuinely love what they do and I highly recommend it for patients of any age!

My husband and I both go to West Lakes and we love it! We joke that if he never makes a good decision ever again, he at least made the right one by choosing West Lakes to be our dentist. Dr. Frette and her team Sherri, Amy and Sarah stepped up this week for me. I had a terrible toothache. Dr. Sass was not available. I went to West Lakes ( I started there and transferred to Carlisle, closer to home) Even though I was not her patient, Dr. Frette never made me feel bad or rushed or anything. As it was, I needed a root canal. Since they had a cancellation I was able to get it done right away. I needed a last minute appointment, and even though they were fully booked for the day, they managed to squeeze me in just to get me some antibiotics and schedule a time to fix my tooth. It was 30 minutes before they closed and you'd think they'd be worn out and ready to go home. But everyone was so upbeat, cheery and singing to the radio! The staff treated me like family. I have been there twice, once for a cleaning and once for a cavity. When I went for my cleaning, I was extremely nervous because I had previously only had my teeth cleaned by my own family run dentistry, who closed after my Uncle retired many years ago. Although I was hesitant, West Lakes Family Dentistry made me feel at ease, and were very friendly and reassuring. I came back due to one cavity that needed to be filled and once again, they went above and beyond to make sure that I felt welcomed and comfortable. I saw Dr Aubrey Frette and her team and they absolutely amazing! I have the worst anxiety with dentist and I actually was able to stay calm and I didn’t feel a thing and she did a very good job! I have so many good things to say about this place. They have been my dentist for two years now. They run on-time. I do not think I have ever spent longer than five minutes in the waiting room. The staff is not only friendly but also flexible. When a recent appointment coincided with a snow storm they fit me in two hours earlier. They are also straight forward with their recommendations. I have never felt like they were trying to sell me on something I didn't need. All in all I recommend them highly.

Dr. Sass and his staff are the best! I have been going to West Lakes Family Dentistry for close to 15 years and I would highly recommend them for any adult or pediatric dental work. My son broke part of his tooth after hours and Dr. Sass called me back within five minutes and met us at the office within 30 minutes. His expertise and calmness immediately put me and my son at ease. We got back in the next day and Dr. Sass had a new plan after doing more research that would be better suited for my son’s dental development. Would give more stars if I could!! My daughter was in an hoverboard accident and needed emergency dental care at 10pm on Friday night. She isn't even a regular patient, but Dr Sass didn't hesitate to help! Fantastic dentist and Truly a blessing!

I had a complication caused by another dentist. Dr. Sass and staff got me in immediately. They made sure I was no longer in pain and got me in touch with a specialist. Who they made sure got me in quickly for a root canal. Dr. Sass than gave me a crown and I haven't had a problem since. If I had been coming to Dr. Sass initially this problem would have been avoided completely as he insulates fillings close to exposed tooth pulp. I'll never be seeing another dentist! My kids 2 & 4 love coming to the dentist. They are fantastic about preventive care. The staff is fantastic with young children and accommodating families. They are direct about pricing and what is and isn't covered by insurance. I highly recommend coming to this office after seeing quite a few since moving to the Des Moines area from DC two years ago.

My appointment on Thursday, June 25, 2020 was for cleaning only. The best thing that I can say is that it was totally without any problems! My hygienist was quick and thorough in what she did! She is always the best that way. My only complaint is that I couldn't always understand what she was saying through all of the sanitary equipment she was wearing!! But that, in itself, is a compliment because I did not have any fear of being infected with Covid-19. All staff members were careful to make sure that my visit resulted in a negative contact with the virus.

Dr. Sass and the staff are both thorough and accommodating. I cracked a tooth while out of town on business, but only back on weekends for a three week stretch. West lakes office is not open on weekends so I was concerned and a little panicked with how I was going to get this resolved. Dr. Sass knew my circumstances and opened the office just for me on a Saturday morning. Relationship and service still matter to some practices. This truly was above and beyond and greatly appreciated. Great staff....Great office !

The dentist office. NOT my favorite place to go! But since I married Sheri (she works there) I’ve never been to the dentist more in my life. Anj cleaned my teeth, sang to me we laughed and I forgot I was at “the dentist”. Everyone there is so nice and they genuinely care for each individual’s needs. They don’t make you feel like just a patient. I need a tooth extracted and bone graft......I’m not petrified because I know Dr. Sass is great and the “shot” won’t be wicked. The people who work here are very down to earth and relaxed and easy going. They laugh at my dad jokes and have really cool art on display from local West Des Moines Artists. After cleaning my teeth, they explained my situation and dumbed it down so I could understand, lol. They also offer to contact my insurance company to wrangle out the best deal for me. Some places are too impersonal and professional or seem totally disinterested in the customer and more interested in their cell phone. But Not here. They do all that nonsense outside of work, haha.
