The dentists and staff here are so terrific! Caring, skilled, and knowledgeable. I had extensive gum surgery with Dr Shuman 2 years ago and everyone was so kind and concerned. Made a awful procedure much better. I recently saw them to determine if a tooth was infected or cracked and would need to be extracted. A previous tooth extraction elsewhere was disastrous and I was so happy to learn that there was now a dental surgeon working with Dr Shuman who could do the needed extraction, so I did not have to go to another, new to me practice. The Dr (sorry name is too long to type!) did such a great job on a difficult tooth. I cannot recommend them enough!

Great periodontists and dental cleanings! Never enjoyed a dental cleaning before, and now I regularly do. I found AIP when I was having an issue 10years ago that other dentists couldn't solve, and they helped resolve the issue, and I've been going to them ever since. Highly recommend!

We asked to switch to Associates from another periodontist’s office because we did not feel comfortable with the environment of the other office. Associates was a marked improvement, with the staff being more friendly and the general environment being less off-putting. The dental assistants were knowledgeable and nice, and the periodontist who worked on me was quite professional. My only critique would be that I felt that as he worked, he focused his communication on his assistant rather than me — he worked very quickly, rattling off series’ of numbers without explaining what they meant, and changing tools to examine my teeth and gums without letting me know he was changing or what the next set of tools did. I am not unhappy at all with my visit. I only wished that the periodontist would have involved me a bit more in understanding what he was doing.

From the moment you walk into the office, the quality of care is evident. This is a practice where the staff conveys professionalism and kindness in equal measure. At the beginning of COVID, I experienced a problem and although the office was closed due to the pandemic, Dr. Schuman called me at home to follow up with me. Above and beyond. Literally. Now, back in the office, there is great care taken to protect every patient with excellent ventilation, hygiene, patient flow, etc. The staff and I mean ALL the staff, reception, tech, scheduling and finance are equally kind and professional. You can actually feel that they are really committed to taking care of their patients and you sense they are kind to one another as well. I have recommended this practice to people in the past and will continue to do so. Also, I have back issues and really enjoy the massage dentist chairs. Thank you Dr. Schuman and staff.

Not to mention a very well trained staff that I enjoyed hanging out with even though they were drilling into my skull! Everything was clearly explained and they took a lot of time for my never ending list of questions. I would imagine most people who end up here, in the insanely comfortable message chair, have not been the best at taking care of their teeth, yet I didn't feel shamed and ended up leaving with a solid plan not to be a toothless old man!! In April 2021, I had gum surgery to repair receding gums. I was extremely nervous about having the procedure as they were repairing the gums over 7 teeth including my 2 front top teeth. Dr. Seggal was very patient with me and explained the procedure and even offered to postpone the procedure if I didn’t feel comfortable going forward that day. I got my anxiety under control and opted to have the procedure that day. Dr. Seggal did an awesome job! My gums look soooo much better!! My mouth was uncomfortable for the first two days, but nothing Advil couldn’t relieve. And no further discomfort! I am no longer self conscious about my smile. Thank you to Dr. Seggal and his staff you all rock!!!

He and his staff taught me how to address my problem with self-care at home, leading to improvements that made further intervention unnecessary. Dr. Shuman helped me recover completely from the problems I had been having with my gums. He is a thorough professional who truly cares for his patients. I first met him when he operated on my lower left gum to repair an area that had greatly deteriorated and was of concern as it indicated potential for loss of a tooth in that part of my jaw. Not only did he do an excellent job with the repair, he called me at home on his own time that evening to see how everything was progressing and to ask how I was feeling. I was amazed that he had gone out of his way to follow up as I had never had that type of experience before. Everything healed well and my tooth is now secure. Since that time some years ago, I have continued annual periodontal visits with Dr. Shuman. He is always professional, kind, and caring. Under his care, I have actually regained gum tissue in several areas of my mouth. (I understand that this is a rare phenomenon.) Under his care, my mouth is now very healthy and free of gum disease. I highly recommend this dedicated practitioner and encourage others seeking treatment to be confident that Dr. Shuman will apply all his knowledge and skill to whatever periodontal problem you may have.

The location of the office makes it easy to park. The entrance is handicapped accessible with a n elevator to the second floor where they are located. I have been a patient of this practice for years! My recent appointment was the first since the pandemic controlled how we behave. The practice has retrofitted their physical surroundings to make it a very safe place to be. The staff are very sensitive to the patient’s needs. They take time to explain why changes in cleaning procedures are necessary. This is a practice that continues to upgrade equipment and procedures to make patient’s healthier and happier.

The whole practice seems to be committed to intensely thorough, scientifically based safety measures both for patients and staff. It is immediately obvious and made me feel grateful and as safe as possible. The waiting area in any practice can be dicey and therefore the least comfortable. I was the most uneasy there, sitting with 5 other people. We were physically distanced, but the sheer number of people was more than I have been in one room with since the pandemic began. Some practices are having people remain in their car until they can go directly to the treatment room. Is that possible here? Overall, I applaud the thoughtful changes, and extremely high level of competence I encountered on my visit, as usual.

There is no finer place to go for periodontal care. And I know as I have had treatment by the "best" in Boston. I did not want to go to see a periodontist and my dentist practically guaranteed me that I would have a positive experience. And he was spot on. Don't look any further. They have all the right tools including computer x-rays and lasers and explain all of your options and risks so you can make a decision that works for you. And they are really really nice! My grandfather started going there as well now.

From the first consultation I had, Dr. Shuman was able to allay my fears in a kind, compassionate and respectful manner. He communicates in a manner that diffuses the stress and builds trust. I walked out knowing that he was the dentist for me. When I went in for my procedure, all of his assistants were professional and competent, but they were also gentle and considerate. AIP is the best. It starts with the positive attitude and energy exuded by every member of the staff. It keeps getting better as the visit continues and you take a seat in one of their massaging dental chairs. At that point you begin to realize that they have thought about you, your comfort, and your state of mind before you even open your mouth for them to have a look. In addition to the deep cleaning and perio work done by Dr Shuman, he's done two implants for me. BTW he guarantees his work. Then, when my sleep doctor recommended an oral appliance for sleep apnea, I learned that Dr Shuman had been certified there as well. His personal experience with an oral appliance gave me tremendous confidence in him. The results for me were immediate and far, far more convenient than a CPAP. Hands down, Dr Shuman is the best dentist I have ever been to and he manages and leads his team as a true professional. The best.
