Let me start by saying, in all my 51 years of life, I have been told how bad getting a root canal is. Recently, I ended up with an infected tooth and needed a root canal. I chose Dr. Townsend based on all the wonderful and positive reviews about him and the staff. I'm very glad I did. I was nervous for nothing. About 3/4's the way through, I asked him when the pain was going to start. He stated he was about finished. I have never had a dentist or other "tooth professional" care so much about my comfort. This was an extremely positive experience! In fact, a friend of ours just found out today that she needs a root canal. We are strongly recommending Doctor Townsend and staff to her! Thank you!!!

I went to Dr. Townsend for a root canal that needed to be re-done properly. The first impression was Excellent: Beautiful and clean office, and the staff was very welcoming, courteous, friendly, and helped me by requesting an estimated coverage of the cost to my insurance. During the first visit to Dr. Townsend, he discovered another problem on the adjacent tooth. He explained everything extensively to me and my wife--very personable and warm doctor. The secretary was able to arrange an earlier appointment for the procedure on both teeth due to a cancellation. One would think that having two root canals on the same day would be a nightmare. But as a matter of fact, I had no discomfort or pain whatsoever. I watched on TV an Asian cooking show the whole time and if it wasn't for the fact that I had to keep my mouth open, I would say that it would have been a truly pleasant experience. Dr. Townsend and his assistant were checking on me every now and then to make sure that I was not in pain. At the end of the procedure, I was given a detailed explanation on what to expect, together with a prescription for mild pain killers. None of this turned out to be needed, since I had no discomfort or pain at all in the days following the procedure. Dr. Townsend even called me on my cellphone on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to make sure that I was fine. To conclude, Dr. Townsend is an Exceptional Doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone who requires an endodontist. -- Giovanni S.

I’ll start with the basics 1) The front office was quick to respond to my referral and scheduling was a breeze. I felt like a priority. Filling out the paperwork prior to my visit, made checking in to my appointment extremely simple. I greeted by name promptly upon walking into the office. 2) The clinical staff was extremely knowledgeable and personable. They were gentle and their demeanor created a very calm yet upbeat environment. 3) Dr Townsend and his assistant worked so seamlessly together. The synchronicity was truly impressive. It’s also quite reassuring to the more apprehensive patient. 3) I. FELT. NOTHING. The most important stuff… 1) I was amongst the large percentage of people who found dental visits to be one of the less pleasurable health care necessities. Although snow in July isn’t entirely out of the question in our vicinity, I did assume that the probability of enjoying a dental procedure has similar odds to such a phenomena. I was wrong. I am changed. 2) If you need to refresh your dad joke Rolodex, you just might be in the right place. The positive and popular reputation of professionalism and humor that precedes Dr Townsend, was underplayed. It did not give due justice, the improv comedic remarks. 3) The post-op X-Ray revealed a work of artistry, he had even been given the WORST canvas…a nearly unreachable wisdom tooth. What some see as a challenge, was viewed as nothing more than an opportunity to demonstrate efficacy and skill set. 4) I. FELT. NOTHING. Although I’m not particularly set out to have another root canal done, I don’t imagine myself disappointed to find myself a repeat patient. Given my seeming inability to lower my unhealthy sugar intake, to a reasonable level, I think it’s safe to say that the odds are not in my favor. I would absolutely choose Dr Townsend for any root canals in my future.

I went into my root canal procedure with an understandable amount of trepidation, but I needn't have worried. Dr Townsend was optimistic, extremely efficient, thorough and explained everything he was doing beforehand. His hygienist was upbeat, calming, and gentle as well. They both went out of their way to make me feel safe, calm, and in good hands. Plus, I got to watch an episode of Monk on the ceiling TV-- a very wise, clever and appreciated distraction!

Dr. Townsend is one of the BEST dentists I've ever gone to. My anxiety is out of this world when it comes to dental work. Normally my face is half numb, and I'm automatically hooked up to nitrous for anything in the chair. He did a root canal for me, and I didn't even need the nitrous!! It was the fastest and least amount of pain I've ever experienced before. He was so gentle and receptive to my concerns, not to mention he has the BEST sense of humor! Also his staff is incredible, they make you feel so comfortable. Highly, highly recommended!! (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s from this dental work scaredy-cat)

Dr. Townsend and the staff of Great Northern Endodontics are 100% first class professionals. Yesterday was the second time I have had the privilege of having Dr. Townsend work on my teeth. The first time he repaired a faulty root canal that was performed by a dentist in another State. Yesterday it was to extract a cracked tooth that couldn’t be saved . Both times the good Dr. performed the necessary repairs in a painless, professional, and workmanlike manner of which I am most grateful. Dr. Townsend made me watch La Brea, which was far more painful than my procedure. I am truly grateful to him, I was extremely nervous, and I had literally zero pain! I don't know what magic he weaves, but even the shots to numb me didn't hurt. He was extremely focused on making sure I wasn't in pain, checked in with me constantly, and paid attention to if I tensed up in case he hurt me. Having a root canal wasn't my favorite, don't recommend it, but if you have to have one go to Dr. Townsend!

Root canal was relatively painless. I really couldn't tell when he gave me the injections on the outside of the gums. Felt it a little on the roof of my mouth and then one final one - which he told me was going to sting for 3 seconds. He counted it out and it was only 3 seconds. Root canal itself went well. I got to watch Netflix during the procedure, which helps distract you. He asked many times if he was hurting me - and he wasn't. He answered my questions and concerns both before and after the procedure. While I still wouldn't want another root canal, I would highly recommend him and go back to him again should the need arise.

Like most other people I do not like going for any kind of dental work but I've found the he & his staff are extremely good at what they do. In the summer of 2019 one of my front teeth went from feeling normal to extremely painful and sensitive in a matter of days. Although Great Northern Endo was booked out quite a ways, they were able to get me in quickly, within just 3 days! They were great & very friendly and made a horrible situation much better. Still feels great after 8 months! 100% would recommend to anyone who has the need of a root canal.
