This review is long overdue as we got married a year ago. Spencer choreographed a two song wedding dance for our beautiful wedding. He was professional, patient, and extremely fun to learn from. We were quite a challenge as neither of us had any dance experience. Our wedding dance came out absolutely stunning and I still watch the video of it every day. Thank you Spencer! 18 steps to pure joy!! As a physician, I needed to balance my clinical obligations with something that was fun and exciting. I found it!! I have been a ballroom dance student since 1984 when I first enrolled at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Since then, I have been a student at Arthur Murray, The Stardust Dance Studio in Oradell, Batista Dance Studio and finally Rogers Dance Studio in Hackensack (which closed). I was feeling a little despondent after COVID-19 decimated most of the studios around me and I looked for a "pick me up" ballroom dance studio. There were many dance studios in Bergen County to choose from (including 'Dance With Me' dance studio in Fort Lee owned by "Dancing with the Stars" Maksim and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, so I did my homework and research. The other studios are a salesforce for expensive lessons. Actually, because they are franchises, your dance fees are extravagant due to the pyramid structure of these places. However, when I finally decided on Spencer Nyemchek, I read that his entire family were dance champions. I wanted to learn the West Coast Swing. Mr. Nyemchek was very cordial and accommodating over the phone. So, I made an appointment and climbed up those 18 steps to his studio. Well, let me tell you, it was as if the heavens had opened up and rays of sunshine bathed my entire body. It was a joyous experience!! Spencer is knowledgeable, professional and such a great teacher (believe me, I have had many). Don't let the grey hair fool you. He is a "Silver Fox". His dance biomechanics are second to none and his classical teaching style is enviable and without equal. Plus, the cost of his lessons are very reasonable and he is not trying to sell you packages, or competition entries or extracurricular events that are equal to a second mortgage. Anyway, I have only the highest praise for this eponymous small, intimate studio in the middle of Bergenfield. It is a gem. If you want to feel great, have fun and enjoy your day——start dancing at Spencer Nyemchek DanceSport School of Ballroom Dancing.

I love this little dance studio. Everyone friendly. I go to the Saturday night socials. John Nymchek's dance lesson at the start of each social is exceptional. I wish I would be available to take some of his weekday classes. They also play excellent music and offer a very nice refreshment table, with coffee.

Every time I go to Spencer’s class, I feel so uplifted by everyone in the class! My mom has been a part of their dance team for a few years now. It’s so much fun and there is so many types of classes to take. Even if you are a beginner, I highly recommend! My first time there, I was welcomed with open arms. It’s a pleasure to see people of similar interests coming together as one. Feels like a family! Also, thanks for always encouraging my mom to continue her passion of dance!

Came to this dance studio with no prior experience dancing and ill say I am so glad I chose this studio! Spencer is such an amazing teach and really helps you understand how to move. The rest of the students are also so welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend doing privates also!! One on one time with Spencer makes such a big difference in my dancing and I really could not recommend it anymore that privates are the way to go ! Overall I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone of any age new or experienced!

I’ve know Mr. Nyemchek, his wife Elena & kids for years way back when my youngest son used to go to their ballroom classes. Spencer’s professionalism & his strong drive for quality & perfection always prevail. For every competitions especially for Tri-State competition, Spencer & Elena is always there for the kids professional & moral support. Elena’s their ballroom Mom especially for the girls. They’re so good on dealing with their students from young kids to adults. I recently reconnected with them & nothing have changed. The warm accommodation remains the same. They make you feel you’re Home again. The class price be it group class or private class is very reasonable. One thing that stands the most is that you’re having fun while learning & you easily feel you’re one of the gang immediately. My daughter has been dancing at Spencer Nyemchek dancesport for almost 2 years and has loved every minute! The kids class is great and we have had a great time at competitions. Wonderful family atmosphere with lots of encouragement but with an eye toward competition- great balance. Many older and adult students give the little ones something to strive for.

My son attends classes here for the last 2 years now and he loves it!! The staff is absolutely fabulous, they are warm and make you feel like one of the family. If you are in need of a great school for ballroom I highly recommend Spencer Nyemchek Dancesport School of Ballroom Dancing. They are accommodating to all ages both young and young at heart!

My daughter’s ages 15 & 16 and I went to the studio to take a private lesson and a salsa group class with Kiki. We had a great time! My daughters have been ballroom dancing for over 6 years and we went for a special coaching session. Spencer, Kiki and family were very friendly, professional and welcoming. Before the group class started there was a social hour. You can tell that the studio promoted a type of atmosphere that makes you feel like apart of their family. For the evening class a lot of the regulars were there a well as walk ins. We traveled from out of state to attend and would definitely make another trip back.

Love this place. I came to this school on a recommendation of a family friend. I've been coming here with my boyfriend for private lessons for about a year now. They've worked amazingly with our crazy schedule and meet you at your learning level and what you want with your goals. Some lessons we want to waltz other lessons we want to change it up to swing. I love the flexibility and the challenge of it. We have also attended the group lessons as well. Group lessons are a great fun time too! They're a lot more affordable and if you're a beginner, you can definitely keep up with the class. I highly recommend this school.

I started with Spencer when I was 9 years old and I absolutely fell in love with ballroom. Now, I'm proud to say, I am able send my daughter here for lessons as well. Spencer and family are very caring and friendly people, they make you feel right at home. The dances and music are super fun and the toddler class teaches both rhythm and basic moves. I was blown away with how easily my 5 year old picked up on the steps from her first lesson! For adults and kids, this is the place to learn ballroom. :)
