So this was my very first ever experience in a gym, dance class with instructor. Always the type to just do my workouts at home while casting on the tv. I am so so happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and did a group flirty party with close friends. Never once felt uncomfortable or anything. With breaking down the dance moves and muscle movements made it a lot easier to understand. Truly grateful for TJ Lady Phoenix ! Had a great time. 10/10 experience and plan on returning !!!!

My friend and i were traveling through Louisville. We decided to take a pole dancing class here and it was so fun! TJ was so good at explaining the moves! I was injured and she was very understanding and gave me different options to work through all the moves while still getting the most out of the class. HIGHLY recommend taking pole dancing classes here!!

Loved the pole dancing class!! I was just in town for a couple days with a friend and we decided to come here. Absolutely do not regret it! Our instructor, TJ, was so nice and helpful! Whenever I come back in town I will definitely come back! TJ is goals!

I have been attending classes at Freestyle Fitness for quite a while now, and what started off as a one-time adventure of taking a pole class turned into an entire lifestyle change and a loss of 40 lbs! I now thoroughly enjoy dancing, pole, weight training, and power lifting, things I would have NEVER in a million years thought I would come to love. The trainers and instructors are helpful, patient, and meet you where you are. I truly believe that what makes this place so great and different from other fitness studios is that the staff teach how to love the body you *have*, and won't let you feel shame or inadequate in your size or skillset, which allows you to be comfortable to improve. Whether you are brand new to moving your body or an experienced athlete, Freestyle has always made me feel at home.

I recently decided to try classes here at Fitness Freestyle, after having never tried pole before. Here is why I love the studio and decided to sign up as a full member (this is long, but worth it):
-Clarity, communication and transparency: long before I decided to take up a class, I really appreciated how much description was on the website about everything: classes, what you need to wear/bring, easily accessible scheduling and, crucially, pricing. I really appreciated the full transparency of (what are very reasonable) membership prices, and the ease of signing up for drop in classes first to see what I was getting into. I had a couple of questions before I signed up (what counted as a week when it came to the number of classes, how to cancel the membership, and so forth), and all of them were answered by the owner before I signed up.
-The facility: it is really clean (yay!) and well-cared for. The studio area is great - it has 8 poles so every person in a class can work individually. The gym is not why I signed up because I have one at home (I’m mostly going to pole classes - more on that below), but it is a really good gym that I have used a couple of times, and although I’m a full member, it would be worth purchasing the (very reasonably price) gym-only membership, speaking as someone who has lifted for years.
-Pole classes: Like I said before, I had zero experience with pole before coming here, except for some embarrassing moments at parties where I was lucky not to hurt myself. It’s been a couple of two months, but I’ve been going to beginner classes once to twice a week, and I’m shocked by where I’ve started versus where I’ve gotten to already, which I entirely credit to Tabitha, who is an excellent instructor. She will take the time to explain things very well with extremely useful analogies so you can understand the technique, and also the physics behind the move, without making you feel embarrassed if and when you try the move and don’t execute it perfectly the first (or fifth) time, which is pretty much all of us when we are starting something new. I was not in tip top athletic condition when I started, and I also had no gymnastics like experience or anything that would have made me used to suspension or otherwise being off the ground, so all of this was truly brand new to me, but I can already see where I’ve gotten stronger in certain places, like my core, gotten more comfortable with being off the ground, and improve on technique, and TJ is really good about getting into the specifics of what to improve for moves, giving you feedback even while balancing the needs of other students, helping you understand which muscles should and shouldn’t be engaged for your safety, and so forth. Speaking of which, TJ is more concerned about your safety than anything else, and we should all be so grateful for such instructors, because pole can be dangerous if one is reckless and attempting things they aren’t ready for. For this reason, there are strict rules about being on time for class to not miss warm ups, and so forth, but that’s exactly the type of attitude I’d expect from Coach Mack or Calipari if I were training on a team, so there you go. I also go to some of the other classes, but I wanted to shout out Rikki, who teaches the flex and flow class, which I attend pretty regularly. Flexibility is something I tend to be lazy about in my own workouts, even though I know better, but going to that class has been great for recovery and protecting against injuries. I also discovered in a recent class that I’m pretty close to being able to do the splits, something I wasn’t even training for and haven’t been able to do in well over 10 years, and I’m sure I have pole and flex to thank for that.

I have been attending classes with Freestyle Fitness for four months now. I have no dance background and have been welcomed with open arms to all of the classes that I attend. I love the inclusivity and how all fitness levels and abilities are welcomed. I regularly attend Pole, Flex and Flow, Twerkout and Burlesque for Beginners. The instructors are not only friendly but they are also patient and very encouraging. I recommend this place 100%.

I have been training here for over two years, and I’m 100% delighted with every aspect of the place. TJ is a skilled and compassionate coach and trainer, who actively pays attention to their clients’ goals and limitations.
TJ deserves the utmost respect for their professionalism, empathy and sense of humor. On a personal level, I credit TJ with helping to save my life; I have tried other gym and fitness facilities, and never developed a sense of connection to the place or to a trainer.
TJ helped me change how I view fitness and exercise, and how I view myself. I’m healthier now than I have ever been, and Freestyle Fitness was the decisive factor.
Thanks, TJ!

I seriously can't say enough great things about this awesome fitness mecca in Louisville! Rikki Little is the best Pole Fitness teacher I've ever had. And her Acro-Chair class is amazing. Tabitha Johnson's workshops and classes are always fun, original and exciting. Both these ladies are the ultimate professionals you want on your fitness team!

They have amazing professional classes with wonderful teachers. The instructors are very helpful and are encouraging to everyone that attends their classes. If you are a beginner or a pro they have various classes at various levels for all to get what they want out of their fitness and to have fun doing it.

My review is based off of a private group intro to pole class, I do not attend this gym regularly. I am also going to keep descriptions of the contents of the class to a minimum.
The gym was clean and the instructor was strict in enforcing COVID guidelines. The music selection was really nice and was able to help us break out of our shell. We did ultimately have a good time.
I considered that it is still COVID, considered that our party was tardy, considered that I wasn’t present when the class was booked, and wanted to avoid comparing my experience with the class to other classes I have taken prior to writing this review.
1)To begin, the policy on recording and photos was extremely unclear. Before beginning the class, we received a “brief” containing rules for the class/studio. Recording and photography was not mentioned at all during that time. During the class we weren’t sure if we were allowed to take photos and videos and the instructor told us we could, even gave us a way to mount our phones. At some point in the class she was demonstrating a move and got upset at one of us for recording her. That was never made clear prior to that moment and the manner of correction was less than tactful or professional. Following that, we weren’t sure if we were still allowed to record or take photos. I think that could have been added to the initial speech at the beginning of class. I even looked over the waiver to see if it was mentioned in that. This was really the bulk of my negative review and points as it made us feel tense following the incident.
2) There are 3 mounted poles and 1 unmounted pole that the instructor demonstrates on but allowed us to use. The group of us consisted of 8 people. It was a bit odd I think, having a group of that size with only 3 mounted poles. With her not having her own pole to return to when she “released us” to try the moves out, it was hard to get some of the moves down.
3) I’ve considered this to be chalked up to the fact that it was COVID, but it was not a hands on class. I think for the amount of time spent on talking about safety, there was rarely any corrections done. It was hard to get questions answered on whether or not we were doing something right or not. There were a few unanswered attempts to get her attention and then we just asked each other. The answers we did get were sometimes not clear.
4) I was disappointed with what we ultimately got showed. I can’t help but think if we came early and used the entire 1.5 hours, I would’ve still been disappointed. I chalk it back up to it being COVID, and the moves being selected so that the class can be more hands off. If that’s the case, I would’ve preferred to know that when booking so we could have booked a different type of class. Again, I don’t want to compare this to other intro to pole classes I took (both pre COVID and during) but it’s hard not to. My assumption is that this class was to be taught as the other pole classes are taught, I would’ve been very disappointed to pay money for what little we went over.

The highlight of this gym/dance studio is the personal training experience by Tabitha Johnson. From private, total health guidance, to her small-number bootcamps, Tabitha provides a personal health training experience tailored to anyone who walks through the door.
The gym also features several dance classes. The pole dance classes are taught by Rikki Little, a local professional/celebrity in the performance arts scene and great, thorough, meticulous instructor. There is a belly dance class taught by Romana Bereneth that covers all topics from classic Oriantale dance, folkloric dances of Egpyt, American Cabaret and Tribal Fusion. Freestyle Fitness is also home for a local capoeira club full of really cool, friendly people.
