Dr. Powell-Shiau is a wonderful chiropractor helping my neck/back/shoulder pain through absolutely amazing adjustments, acupuncture, and other therapies. He is very knowledgeable and gives great recommendations. He is also the first chiropractor I’ve seen and he explained everything wonderfully for a first timer. I highly recommend his services and have seen great improvements for the past few weeks.

My visit with Dr. Shiau was excellent. I had a spinal fusion for severe scoliosis a year and a half ago and Dr. Shiau has been amazing at alleviating some pain I’ve had above and below the fusion. Dr. Shiau has performed a combination of chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, electrical muscle stimulation, and soft tissue work to alleviate my pain. He is great at finding the location of pain and treating it in a holistic and pain free way. Dr. Shiau puts together a treatment plan for each patient to ensure the best road to recovery. Dr. Shiau is extremely friendly and truly wants to know his patients and treat them to the best of his ability.

I had a great experience with Dr. Shiau! I was traveling through DC for a week with a persistent knee injury. Dr. Shiau kindly made room for me as a new patient with 3 successive sessions of acupuncture. This was my first time trying acupuncture but I even after session number one, my injured knee started feeling immediately better. Dr. Shiau gave me some physio exercises to do at home and I can truly say the treatment plan is working and my knee feels like it’s healing so much faster than if I hadn’t been to see him. All the staff (including Orlando the Corgi!) are very welcoming and friendly in the office so it’s a very relaxed atmosphere. Can’t recommend highly enough.

I had never been to a chiropractor before so I was a little hesitant to try it out. I woke up one morning with such severe neck pain I couldn’t turn my head and needed to figure out a solution. I saw great reviews for Dr. Powell Shiau so I decided to try it out. He has been nothing short of a miracle worker for my neck pain. I have been seeing him twice a week for a little over a month now and I feel better than ever. Everyone in the office is so kind and welcoming and I have never spent more than two minutes in the waiting area before being taken to a room. Dr. Shiau always takes his time and explains everything he is doing and how it will help you to heal. I have never met a doctor as willing to listen. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Shiau and this office.

Dr. Shiau is knowledgeable, fast & very kind! I highly recommend going to him for your chiropractic needs. I’ve had 3 visits so far and my pain is gone! I was definitely skeptical of visiting a chiropractor at first, but Dr. Shiau does a great job communicating during adjustments and explaining what exercises I should be doing at home between sessions to make my adjustments more impactful. The office is really relaxed and I’ve come away with more flexibility in my lower back and less pain. I highly recommend DISC especially for those who are new to chiropractic adjustments!

First time at Dr. Shiau’s office today. Everyone was very professional. When I first walked in, the receptionist greeted me with a warm smile. Then Dr. Shiau came and directed me to the treatment room. I am a tennis player and I work out quite often so it was good to have somebody adjust my back and shoulder blades because those are the spots where I needed treatment the most. Thank you again. With so much wrong with the U.S. healthcare system and doctors who nickel and dime you and who will never even cure your problems, Dr. Shiau and his staff are a bright light and a model for other providers. Simply put you will enjoy going to the District Injury & Spine Center. Unfortunately, I had already spent over $1000 in unnecessary MRIs before reaching out to Dr. Shiau for tingling arm/back pain that had lasted for over a month. Within 3 super affordable sessions over the course of a month I was back to normal while learning super helpful tips / stretches to maintain for good preventive health. From now on DISC will be my first call for a variety of health issues.

As a Palmer Chiropractic student myself, I wanted to come back from break and have the chance to shadow doctors and further educate myself even out of school. Out of all of the chiropractors i contacted, Dr. Shiau was the only one to respond. He welcomed me to his clinic with open arms and when i tell you that he is the best chiropractor i have shadowed, i really mean it. He is a man of many wonders and is incredibly knowledgeable and descriptive about his technique and work. A lot of patients go to clinics/practices and don't feel like they're at home, like they're being shown the door as soon as possible so the next patient can be seen. But not with Dr. Shiau, one thing i really noticed with him is that he makes his patients feel like they're at home, and that he's is going to do his best to figure out what the problem is. He talks to his patients, gets to know them and makes the environment as comfortable as possible. He explains exactly what he's going to do and why he's doing it in a way that is very understandable to the patient. Most importantly, he is very fluent with his technique, you can tell that out of work he does what is needed to perfect his craft. He performs with great timing, gentleness and even finesse. Every patient that was seen left the practice with a smile on their face. In conclusion, Dr. Shiau is the type of chiropractor that i strive to be one day, i would 100% recommend going to see him.

Amazing. Absolutely incredible! Dr. Shiau is a darn good Chiropractic Physician. I had inflammation in my shoulder and sought his help. Very shortly after he worked his magic, the inflammation was gone! I sprained my ankle a few months ago and I was debilitated; I couldn't walk without immense pain and I was limping everywhere. I owe it to him for initiating the recovery process. Dr. Shiau is professional, personable, and dedicated to his patients. He is helpful, open, and transparent and he addressed my questions and eased my concerns. Additionally, he is very knowledgeable on treatment styles and sources of pain since he treats the whole body. If you have a chance to see Dr. Shiau, just do it! His work speaks for itself!

I have been to many doctors for my chronic neck/ back pain and sciatica. Dr. Shiau is the BEST one, he helped me feel better after a few session. Unlike other doctors, he took the time to listen to all my complaints and did a very thorough exam. He was honest with my diagnosis and gave me treatment options.
