After 2 months of pain I was referred to Dr. Lou Jacobs by my daughter. It was the best referral I was ever given. Dr. Lou and his fantastic staff are the best. They take the time to go over your body and then print out the results for the Dr, and patient to go over. The treatments that I have had have given me such positive results. I do the exercises daily and they are a big part of the healing process. Always greeted with a smile upon entering the facility with the kindness and caring they give. I would highly recommend Dr. Lou Jacobs!

When my lower back shot up with unexpected pain I needed to find someone unfamiliar to me to offer assistance in adjusting my back. Problem was I'm new to Portland. After a friend offer a referral to Jacob's Chiropractic center I jumped on it not knowing if this would be a good fit or if they can even see me on short notice. I was delighted that they were able to see me the next day. Dr. Lou was fabulous. He got right to the core of my issue and surprisingly after my treatment I felt much better and am on the mend now. Having never been to a chiropractor before, I was optimistic but unsure what to expect going in for my first adjustment. My hope was to get some relief from discomfort in my neck and upper back. I'm still in chiropractic care of Dr. Lou and team. They are great! They know just how to treat you and how to help you get better. I came to them in the summer having suffered from a shoulder impingement for a new months and having gone through PT with no success. They did an assessment, prescribed some exercises and now I'm feeling much much better. My shoulder is much stronger, not much pain anymore and I'm sleeping better. You do need to do the prescribed exercises to stay healthy and strong, not just go to the chiropractic visits. The team is great, nice and know their stuff!

Short Review - Dr Lou and his team are professional & personable. The Environment is lovely and always warm and welcoming. The team maintain safe standards and practices. The adjustments work, and I credit this team for getting my body back in allignment! Longish Review - After dealing with Sacrum pain , Sciatic pain and issues in my lower lumbar that at age 30 were debilitating me I found myself attempting homeopathic stress relievers and adaptogens. I needed more. My doctor recommended I go see a urologist and a rheumatologist and suggested that I am have the beginning stages of Rheumatoid arthritis , after a two MRIs It was determined that my lower back was consistent with sacroilitis , often associated with Ankylosing Spondlyitis. The treatment NSAID and Physical Therapy. This conclusion was provided 10.29.21. After doing some google searches and finding the right chiropractor Jacobs Chiropractor I scheduled a round of 12 adjustments. After the first several adjustments I began to not experience or feel pain in my sacrum & lower back.Words cannot begin to describe as a yoga teacher in training the gratitude I feel to not feel pain and be present in my body. The ability to hinge at the hips or wake up refreshed and ready makes every day to day duties and tasks manageable. With all studies and thoughts on the practice of chiropractic work, I suggest you go in for a consult and explore your owns body anatomic composition and chemical makeup. Our bodies are all different and for me chiropractic adjustments have improved the quality of my life. I highly recommend this office of exuberant professionals ! Ps. The sauce is fire ! :)

First time ever leaving a review, just could not continue a happy life without doing so. It is the right thing to do, having as much appreciation as I do for Dr. Lou’s office. My experience has been wonderful, from paperwork to scans to Dr. Lou’s adjustments – each person is genuinely happy to see you and tremendously competent to facilitate your treatment. So the boxes are checked regarding attitude and professionalism. But what I found this office does the best is listening - the care and concern found in laser-focused feedback for addressing the pain. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the environment is most chill, very laid back. Am 67 and was most hesitant to begin 3 trips a week to a doctor’s place during a pandemic, but after my initial visit those concerns faded fast.

Last year in December, I developed a lower back problem that was so severe that I couldn't stand up straight or walk small distances without breaking into tears. I needed help desperately. I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Lou within 24 hours. Dr. Lou has an amazing bedside manner, and you can tell that he has a passion for properly caring for each of his patients. The office staff is also extremely friendly, and address you by first name as soon as you come into the office (this is always a nice personal touch to any interaction). Not only was he able to resolve the issue with my back (after a few months of visiting three times per week), but he has recently helped me significantly, with acupuncture, for severe nausea during my first trimester of pregnancy. I don't have anything bad to say about my experiences with this practice - and would recommend the office to anyone that I know who is experiencing any issues that would benefit from his care. You do not only visit the office to feel better, but you also have access to many, many resources there that can help you to better understand the purpose of Chiropractic care and its overall benefits for both, the body and general well-being. There are a lot of chiropractors and acupuncturists out there that do not know what they are doing, and I have unfortunately been to many of these providers with no relief. I am happy to say in this review that Dr. Lou is the "real deal" - and you will not be disappointed if you have the opportunity to become one of his patients! : )

I have been an athlete my whole life and was a fitness instructor and personal trainer for over 10 years. I first decided to try chiropractic when I was unable to turn my head side to side after working on a laptop at the office every day vs. a work station. Dr. Lou is the best! He has saved me with two pregnancies now and I can’t recommend him highly enough. With my first pregnancy I came to his office in so much pain that it hurt to walk, and after my first visit I felt immediate relief. I continued to see him through the end of my pregnancy. Story time!!! Do you want to know if Dr. Lou's office is worth it? I came across his website when in Maine this summer (i'm originally from Europe, more precisely Romania). While surfing the web, I learned that Dr. Lou Jacobs happens to spend a few months out of the year in Romania in order to help patients over there (my country does NOT have any doctors specialized in chiropractic, which is crazy). At first, I said to myself "these customer service bots must be trying to sell me something, it's too much of a coincidence!", but since the office was not far from where I worked through this university program that placed me in the state of Maine for the summer, I thought "why not email them?"; in the back of my head, I had doubts that they even had room for me, so I figured I had nothing to lose if I tried. Crystal, from the office, she contacted me within no longer than 2 business days, she patiently answered all of my silly questions, and then helped me book an appointment for later that month; it was also my last month out of the five months that I spent in the United States with the respective program, so the timing was perfect! On the day of the appointment, I discovered this cute, extra clean, well-equipped office with friendly and knowledgeable staff! I was taken to the scanning area where various parts of my body were scanned, and then each and every informative sheet that came out was explained to me in detail by Dr. Lou, who added that in just one session, one cannot typically fix everything, but in spite of this, I felt like he tried his best to at least find out about the majority of my issues so that he could give me guidelines even after I'd leave the office. We had a rigorous dialogue that involved NO rambling, he was very prompt, we navigated all the way back in my childhood so that he could find out where the majority of my pain was coming from. Afterwards, he took me to the adjustments table where he adjusted my bones while paying great attention to reading my emotions, how I felt, what I said, etc. providing me with a sense of safety, which, to me, was a big deal! PRICE-WISE, I'd say that the office is VERY REASONABLE! I didn't feel like I was robbed, I didn't feel like I was fooled, I felt like I was in good hands, so these people, that do their job with passion and care, quickly gained a special place in my heart! At the checkout, I was delighted to find out that the newcomers usually receive a generous jar of Marinara Sauce (branded Dr. Lou Jacobs), and a T-shirt (you get to choose the color); after collecting my gifts, I was on my merry way back home, feeling very flexible and healthy! I cannot wait to see Dr. Lou Jacobs in Romania as well! RECOMMEND 10/10!

After 10 years without chiropractic care, a coworker suggested I look up Dr. Lou and team. After meeting the friendly office staff and going through the initial setup and scans, I was presented with more information and answers than I thought I would ever get about anything! They set up a treatment plan, showed me where I was experiencing pain and tension (which matched exactly where I was feeling it), and know from experience exactly which areas to adjust whether I point it out or not. It's always intimidating going to "another new doctor's office", but this is a different experience. Everyone involved wants you to feel healthy and pain-free; they work in an open, stress-free environment that makes communication and treatment a very easy process. The information I've received as a result of my personalized treatment plan has helped change things for the better. One of my favorite things is the way I feel lighter and taller once I see Dr. Lou after a hard day. I have an extremely demanding, physical job that really wears on my musculoskeletal system, so finding Dr. Lou has been the best thing ever. Obviously having a physician is a great idea, but I highly suggest thinking twice about what kind of pain you're having, and seeking chiropractic help first, even if it's just for one visit - I guarantee you'll be amazed with the results.

I started seeing Dr. Lou when I was 34 weeks pregnant with my second daughter. She was breech and my midwives suggested the Webster method of chiropractic as a potential remedy for the issue. This review is long overdue. But just the other day I realized I'm having a great Summer and I realized that it is because of Dr. Jacobs! I severely threw my back out in December, just before Christmas. I couldn't walk, couldn't sleep, couldn't even get dressed without assistance. I had seen Dr. Jacobs (Dr. Lou) a few years earlier for my sciatica, and decided to see if he could, at least, shore me up for the holidays. Lou is more than just a Chiropractor. He addresses the body, mind and lifestyle of his patients. I was amazed that he offered to see me the day that I called. They scanned my spine and took time to learn exactly what I was doing when my back was injured. Lou manipulated (adjusted?) my back and used an automated table to help loosen up some of the muscles. He had me back on my feet after the first visit. I was functional after one more visit (just in time for Christmas!) and after a few more visits I was practically pain free. 6 Months later and I'm still 100%. Lou gave me advice on how to work out the muscles and exercise my back to help with the healing and to prevent future injuries. I love their holistic and natural approach to healing. It's not just about the time spent on the table, they really help you to take charge of your own health and well being. I'm enjoying my Summer and the pain is a distant memory. Dr Lou and his team are incredible. I just wish I found him sooner. After having my daughter, I began to develop pelvic pain. My Doctor diagnosed me with pubic symphysis and recommended physical therapy. When I was pregnant with my second daughter, the pain worsened. I went to physical therapy and did all the recommended excercises and stretches at home, too. I started maternity leave a week early as I could not manage the pain any longer. Upon the birth of my second daughter I felt immediate relief having the added weight off my pelvis. However, I was on so much pain medication for normal postpartum healing that I didn’t feel much. Once I stopped the meds, reality struck. I could barely walk. It hurt to stand from a seated position, let alone doing it holding a newborn. The chronic pain was unbearable and it wasn’t “normal” and “time” wasn’t going to help. It also continued to get worse as I overcompensated when I walked. The meds didn’t even help anymore. I knew that PT alone wasn’t going to resolve my issue. Dr Lou was recommended to me by a dear friend. He took the time to listen and understand me. He determined that I was dealing with Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction. He began working with me immediately. I was committed to feeling better and he was committed to helping me. Within two weeks I could walk again with minimal pain. I feel great now and am finally able to enjoy my little ones without pain. I continue to see him for maintenance care and my quality of life is the best it’s been in years. Sydney and Erin in the office are amazing as well. They are professional and make scheduling and insurance easy as they are flexible and understanding. Everyone is so nice. Erin even looked after both my girls while I was being adjusted. Came to Dr. Lou at the recommendation of my wife, as I’d been experiencing some troubling headaches for a few weeks straight. Simple tasks like bending down or standing up were causing my head to throb, and I could feel it down the back of my neck into my shoulders. Dr. Lou confirmed that these were tension headaches and prescribed a series of simple exercises to help in the corrective process. After a few discussions I was much more aware of my posture while sitting at my desk, standing, and even sleeping. The combination of the exercises, treatments, and my conscious effort to focus on improving my posture helped reduce the frequency of my headaches. When I first came in they were every day; after a week it was only here and there; and after another week or so the headaches were gone. Hello, I have a neurostimulator, it’s a pacemaker that stimulates a deep part of my brain in order to control tremors. I have a signal generator under the skin in my abdomen and the cables, one for each hemisphere of the brain, run up my chest, up my neck behind my ear, over my head, and into my skull. As part of the warning package from the stimulator manufacturers they warn of any sudden movement of the neck, like that that may be caused from a chiropractic adjustment. But still, I needed an adjustment. I let Dr. Lou know all the concerns and he developed a program that allowed me adjujstments yet placed no undue stress upon my cables. I am a mom, Violist, hobby farmer, painter, seamstress, yogi—basically a lifetime enthusiast of overusing my hands! I began seeing Lou 2 years ago(?!) for acupuncture about 8 months after a carpal (wrist) and cubital (elbow) tunnel surgery releases. I had terrible post surgery recovery. So much pain for sooo long. In the years before surgery I had tried so many other options-massage, yoga, stretching, OT, ibuprofen, other acupuncturists....I only wish I had found Dr. Lou BEFORE I finally tried surgery. I decided to give acupuncture another try and proceeded to try 3 new (to me) different acupuncturists. Lou’s method of treatment was the least painful (no pain) with the most thorough approach and execution of plan. It felt miraculous to finally achieve no pain—for longer and longer periods of time. A few weeks, then several months, and finally it was almost a year before I started symptoms again. I made the time-the hardest part!—and got back in for 1 session and the pain dissipated again. Anyone trying acupuncture should know that after every treatment for 12-15 hours I’ve always felt tender and a bit weak in the areas where the acupuncture was applied. I accept that there’s a “healing time” and I need to be patient with my body. No push ups that day:) I am enormously grateful to know I only need to schedule an appointment for when and if I have pain, numbness, aching, anything in my hands, arms, body. Thank you Dr. Lou:)

In the 3rd trimester, he was able to relieve the pressure on my spine, allowing me to sleep better and bounce back to my previous level of activity very quickly after having my daughter. I came to Dr. Lou with what he said was essentially “desk jockey” syndrome — in constant pain and could no longer stand up straight. It took some months and a nightly ten minutes of exercise, but was well worth it. The pain is gone and I can stand straight up again. I would highly recommend these guys to any parents out there that has littles suffering from chronic ear infections. My little guy had been suffering for months and the doctors where talking about putting tubes in but I wanted to try everything else before surgery! We went every week for five weeks while Bentley was trying to fight off a cold that would have normally turned into a double ear infection. We finished the five weeks with no ear infection, and he was able to get healthy all on his own with no antibiotics!
