I have driven by MGM countless times. I made it a point to stop by today and I am mad at myself for waiting so long. We ordered breakfast and really enjoyed it. The ham is amazing and freshly cooked. The pancakes and waffles were so soft and tasty. The potatoes were well seasoned and delicious. Only thing that would make it better is if they had mimosas. They have beer so fingers crossed many one day.

First time visiting MGM Roast Beef for breakfast. Wow, I came hungry and had a big plate. It was that, a big plate split in two different boxes. $11.99 for the most expensive breakfast choice and I had to take some home. I recommend that you choose French toast as our group preferred it over the waffle but I do want to come back for some blueberry pancakes. The service for dine in is counter order, get a buzzer and a short wait for some fresh food. P.S. don’t sleep on breakfast it ends at 10:30…but don’t worry Lunch goes 10:30-3pm and it deserves another visit and I’ll drop a review for that soon too!

Had the French Dip and it was top-shelf! Wish I had a little salt, but really great roast beef (ALL their meats looked terrifically moist). Was nervous when I saw the thick slices, but its super tender. Came off in easy bites. Didn't have to wrestle with it, you know? Au Jus tasted meaty. Really good sandwich with awesome boardwalk-quality fries. Oh, and everybody working at MGM seemed really happy to be there. Thank you! Will definitely come again!!!!

I walked in with high expectations. just couldn't decide what to get. I didn't have much time on my lunch break so I asked for a large order of fries, topped with bacon, cheese, and gravy. Similar to Poutine but with the MGM twist. It was Amazing!. Had all my coworkers try it. Even though it's not on the menu, get you some MGM fries with bacon cheese and gravy! 10/10 highly recommend 👌

Real Talk this is hands-down the best Brisket spot in DC. I’ve been coming here for about 5 years or so. The service has always been outstanding! When ordering any sandwich but in my case specifically a brisket sandwich, there never stingy or skimpy on the meat they always go above and beyond and actually Bless you with so much meat. They have been closed down for a few months for repairs but just went by today and I’m so glad that there back in business!!!! It looks like they’ve might’ve added some new options on the menu, we tried the Burger and it was on Point! I will definitely be ordering one of those next time I come bye. But I will never fake on my brisket sandwich

Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in the city! Because it's tucked off, you don't get as much traffic in there so it's usually chill and the service is great. Portions are plentiful, food is delicious and it's reasonably priced! They also do really great sandwiches for lunch if you miss breakfast. You can't go wrong with anything you order, trust me!

I've visited this place twice and the food was on point both times. I'd definitely be a more frequent customer if I lived in the area.

My 1st point, if you want quality this place is the💣. The meats are cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful! The veggie toppings are fresh. Now my second point. This place is extremely pricey. My sandwich was $15 and less than the length of a subway foot long. The meat was definitely skimped as well. I mean $15, I should've atleast had meat covering every 8' of the bread. The price of a whole Turkey basically. I also wanted to add bacon $2 but because I got a signature Cajun Turkey $11 there was no option for add on and I was charged $3 for a side of bacon instead. This wasn't mentioned before the order was executed. When I received my sandwich there was literally 2 pieces of bacon on it! (C'mon really for $3) I did make a respectful complaint/concern and went back and was given 3 more pieces. But imagine if I had driven off before checking my food😡 Also if it was a add on instead I'm certain it would've been those same 2 pieces for $2 instead of $3. I am extremely disappointed. My last point the head cashier has RBF (resting bish face) she comes off a little rude and rushes you through your order.

I have passed MGM several times but today decided to give it a try after going to the post office. MGM is the real deal for fresh and delicious deli style sandwiches. I got the Thanksgiving Dinner, served open-faced style. The turkey is tender and moist, a combo of white and dark meat. The stuffing, the gravy, even the roll is excellent. The cranberry chutney is fresh and seems homemade, adding a tart sweetness to all the savoryness of the brown gravy. AND THERES SO MUCH! I could only eat half and now I have a second meal for later - all for $11.50! I cant wait to try MGMs other offerings

Ordered on May 23rd for an office and event and the food was spectacular. Best potato salad in D.C. and only 2nd to my Grandmother's. The delivery driver was prompt and even assisted me with bringing the items up to my office. Toothpicks were placed in the sandwiches with a guide, so everyone knew what they were eating (we had a few vegans) which was not expected, but very much appreciated. I will be ordering again soon and MGM, please keep up the great work. Thank you for an awesome experience.

One of the best sandwich shops in the United States. We are blessed to have it here in Washington DC. High quality meats, generous portions with the freshest ingredients and a staff that are well managed and professional make this my preference for sandwiches in the DMV. Try some of their other options like soup and salads. You will be surprised how good they are. Also their baked goods are sinfully amazing treats. Don’t over do it.

I'm having a hard time remembering a better sandwich I've had in DC than the brisket sandwich I had at MGM. Brisket, coleslaw, cranberry chutney, with sauteed onions and pepper on a poppy seed bun was incredible! It's a perfect lunch spot--old school decor and lunch counter with friendly staff. I'm mad that it's taken me 2.5 years to learn about this place. I'll definitely be coming here more often--I just wish it was closer to my neighborhood!

If you are looking for some fresh, locally source, the best of the best in terms of quality produce. We serve nothing but the best ingredients, both for breakfast and lunch, where our eggs are from freecage chickens, waffles made in house as well as the french toast, and that's just an example of a couple of delicious items they serve in the morning for breakfast. At the same time for lunch they offer their delicious signature sandwiches, from our own style of grilled Reuben sandwich, to a down south which is the delicious tender brisket with coleslaw and BBQ sauce. Also offer the option to build your own sandwich, from choosing your bread and meat, to cheese and condiments. But if just don't want any bread, they also offer salad bowls you can build with anything you want on it. This place definitely has something for everyone. If you ever around the area, and haven't try it. Well is a must.

We got catering from MGM for our small covid friendly wedding ceremony. It was 10x better than we expected. We ordered a mix of 4 of their classic sandwiches, the roast beef, brisket, ham, and turkey. All 4 were amazing. They came cut in half so it was easy to mix and match. The toppings came on the side in their own platter so you can build your own. The assorted chips were all name brand bags and they had a great selection. All utensils and plates were included. The delivery was a bit early and he was happy to wait because we weren't quite ready. Overall, a wonderful experience and MGM has certainly earned our continued business for catering.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I have been coming since 2009. The service is EXCEPTIONAL. Hand carved meat DELICIOUS. Atmosphere PERFECT. The only downfall is that parking can be tough but the food is worth it!!! Server, Iris, is the best she is always happy and smiling. Pretty much know what I am going to order. I love this place to eat feels homie and relax environment the brisket is my favorite majority of the time it's awesome. Love the fries. Salad are great..love the ice tea black and sweet. Lunch menu: Love the chef salad, it's a meal within itself topped with plenty of beef and turkey. The Brentwood sandwich is good also with plenty of beef and choice of bread. Wish they'd stay open later in the afternoon until 5 or 6, would love some of their sandwiches and salads for dinner take-out.

Great place for an amazing sandwich. Meats sliced from the carving stations. I personally recommend the brisket. Another one of those hidden gems in D.C. very limited parking, but worth the trip. Boardwalk fries with your sandwich makes it complete. They pile up the meat on your sandwich, so bring your appetite. Old school ordering, build your own sandwich which requires you to check off what you want on a paper checklist, or you can get a pre- defined sandwich. Nothing fancy, big round bar and some tables on the upper level. Service is great. Be a little patient since they are building your sandwich per your order. They close at 6pm, so get there before then. Been going there for years and have not been disappointed yet. This isn't cold cut sandwiches or kids meals. Be hungry when you get there! Enjoy.

There are few places in the district that are truly authentic diner-like experiences. MGM delivers! and at hole-in-the-wall diner prices as well. We love their stacked egg + cheese breakfast sandwiches and huge portion breakfast specials, complete with grits, pancakes, and their famous sliced meats. It's on a busy street that is hard to access without a car, but it's worth it.

I've heard about MGM Roast Beef for years and finally stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my Monday night dinner friend. Here are our thoughts: 1) The location- If this place was on U Street, it wouldn't stick out, but the fact that a highly rated roast beef place exists off of New York Ave is a plus in its favor. It's unique, brings the neighborhood together, and has character. 2) The set up- You can get your sandwich to go or you can sit at the bar or sitting area. 3) The service- Everyone is very friendly and efficient at making sure you are served quick and on time. 4) The food- My buddy got the brisket and enjoyed it. I got the French Dip and was a little disappointed only because there were a lot of fat on it. I assume that's a sign of quality meat, but as a former vegetarian, it freaked me out a bit so ended up picking off 2/3 of the meat. If you love meat, definitely stop here and see another part of town.

Worth every penny. After working in DC for 2 years and hearing nothing but great reviews from many about their experience at MGM roast beef, I finally decided to give it a try. ***Please note that every great review I received warned me of how expensive it would be, so I was prepared and refused to let that hurdle impact my experience*** to put it in perspective, I took a co worker there and we both had a similar white turkey sandwich, fries and drink. I've included a few photos of my sandwich, in total for both of us it came to $39.06. Slightly more expensive then feeding a family of 4 at Chick-fil-A, and a thousand times better tasting then anything at Chick-fil-A. Highly recommend.

On various visits over a span of years, never fails. The hand sliced top round (rare), brisket, turkey... haven't tried the ham, but it looks good. The buns are top notch, the trimmings are fitting. The prices are competitive. The slaw is sweet-sour creamy and crunchy; just so you know. A basic slaw, solid.

The ONLY reason for a three stars review here is I had anticipated to pay a little less. However, the fact that the meat for my delicious sandwich was cut off a large slab right in front of me, makes up for a lot. Service is very polite and you can see right away they care about the product. If you have an idea of a small sandwich being enough to satisfy you'll need to come back when you'd do with a feast. My Supervisor put me on with this spot during my2nd weekend the job. I've been back once since then(2 weeks later) but contemplate going every damn day 😂. I work in DC but live in Baltimore and plan on taking a ride up here with my girl one weekend its that good. I've had the Brisket and the Famous Roast beef. Both were great ! If you plan on eating here during the week I recommend you get there early because they sometimes run out of certain meats. Roast beef was all gone on my 1st visit.

Must have sandwiches all fresh. Owner is really friendly and will walk you though all the items on the menu if it's not too crowded. Breakfast is great too. Service during breakfast can be slow if they are busy, but it's worth and the best in the area.

Good carved roast beef sandwich, stacked high, but, cost is high for a sandwich lunch combo meal. Cost can be explained by high customer service levels. Understanding that good carved roast beef takes time to prepare before the customer even has thought about lunch, and the prep cooking to assemble the sandwiches per order, gives you a great tasting meal, worth the cost.

Been going there roughly monthly for about 18 months. The sandwiches are fantastic with hand carved meats and quality ingredients. The onion roll is worth the extra few cents. Fries are some of the best around. My sandwich recommendation is onion roll, brisket, cheddar, lettuce, pickle, raw onion, fresh horseradish and spicy mustard with fries and iced tea. The fry portion is large so you'll probably have leftover fries. Service is solid, competent and usually fast. Don't let Iris's demeanor fool you. She is simply too busy keeping things going to be all smiles and chatty. While the lunch sandwiches are the reason to come the breakfast is also solid, if basic diner fare. It's become a nice place for a quick Saturday breakfast, but get there before the auction place next door opens or you'll find seats full and service a bit slower. My three negatives are minor. First, there is little vegetarian fare, but the place is a deli with a roast beef speciality, so one shouldn't expect much in that regard. Second, the coffee is often not up to par. Hopefully the management will take advantage of the number of local roasters we have in the area. I'd pay an extra 50 cents or so for better coffee. Third is the price. For the location and the menu the prices seem high, but the quality and quantity of the food puts it on par for the DC market. Still it's the cost of those sandwiches that keep me from being there weekly; something I'm sure my doctor appreciates.

My husband and I had the pleasure of once again dining here today for lunch (Aug 7, 2014) as we often do. I remain incredibly disappointed that this establishment some time ago for whatever silly reason decided to change from my favorite Coca Cola to yucky Pepsi. A major mistake in my view. We both had roast beef (rare) sandwiches and two orders of the most fabulous fresh home cooked French fries ever. I specifically requested them cooked fresh rather than the fries that have been cooked and sitting there and what a difference to get them nice and hot - straight out of the fryer. Awesome fries. A tad disappointed in the sandwiches, however. First of all the carver on duty today seemed unusually on the slow side of town. Longest wait for sandwiches ever in all our visits. The mighty good meat was indeed mighty good but certainly not as plentiful as prior visits. Pepsi was horrible and tasted on the flat side of town. Might possibly be the unfiltered water for the ice machine. Certainly worth checking out and considering Ryan Z. Superb background music and really enjoyed checking out the Nats game on the flat-screen. I ordered a salad to take home but they ran out of white meat turkey so I cancelled that order. How does a sandwich shop run out of white meat turkey at 1:00pm? That's a good one to ponder. Hubby ordered two ham sandwiches to go for his fishing trip tomorrow. The ham here is truly sensational and the pickles are delicious. Happy to convey that for me the absolute greatest thing of all at MGM (Mighty Good Meat) is the phenomenal employee named IRIS. She always makes our dining experience most enjoyable. She is superior at her job and somehow manages to do six things at one time in dealing with the MGM patrons. It is amazing to witness her in action! She treats every single customer with such kindness and is always most eager to please the diners and her genuine great attitude is a pleasure to witness. I swear - amazingly that lady never misses a beat. MGM is so lucky to have her as part of their team. Unfortunately employees such as IRIS are just like my sandwich today====R A R E! There's a large lunch menu, but there's no need to depart from the standard made-to-order sandwiches. Try to get there before mid-afternoon, as they sometimes run out of certain meats. Breakfast is good, too, although it's nothing elaborate. Street parking is generally bad, but there are usually a few spots if you go past the location on Brentwood and turn left onto T.

Update 7/21: Known for red meat, but they have turkey, chicken and serious breakfast w eggs/pancakes etc. Current closing is 3PM. DC eaters are glad they made it through fire and covid. These guys work hard to make non-vegan, craveworthy but not inexpensive big meat sandwiches. And breakfast til like 1030. Industrial area but inside is calm, fairly comfortable and a good place to wait out NYAve jams.

MGM and their staff are a beautiful oasis amongst a desert of fast and processed food restaurants. Their in-house, slow cooked meats and fresh vegetables work together for a beautiful dance on the taste buds. The best part (other than the fact that they cut the meat right in front of your watering mouth?) is that they offer "build your own" sandwiches and salads. Ewwwwweeey and on Fridays they have a MD Blue Crab sand which they must have plucked from the heavens!
