Reviews of Joe Fassi Sausage and Sandwich Factory

We absolutely LOVED dining in ay this cute little shop, found it randomly on Google while in the Lou for a doctors app.
We had the cold number 1 and hot 17 I think and they were AMAZING, literally not sure if I've ever had a better sandwhich.
The workers were nice and seemed like they had been there years and knew everything there was to know.Had a great time and will be back foraure.See ya in three months when her next appointment comes around!

If you havent been to Joe Fassi's, your missing out.
Meatball sandwitch was the BEST we have had on the hill.
The beef and gravy was good as expected.
The Salsiccia with red peppersand onions was once agian the BEST salsiccia on the hill.
Thank you guys for sharing.
Tom Flynn
I had the meatball sandwich and wife had the sausage sandwich, WOW, they were the best we've had. We found this shop totally by accident. We were just driving through St.Louis around lunch time so we just did a search for sandwich shops nearby. Excellent find great food and easy to find.
Mac Truck
What a fun little place with an awesome owner and delicious sandwhiches! I had the meatball sub and it was honestly the best sub I have ever had. The meatballs are so delicious, the sauce is awesome and not too acidic and the cheese bread was perfect. All the way around I would highly recommend giving Joes a try!
Aileen
So much to choose from and ended getting 5 different sandwiches, it did not disappoint us all was good especially the #17 Grandma Rosie's Hot Rocket. It's the bomb 💣.
Sue B
Great little deli in a nice neighborhood. We had the Joe Fassi Pranzo salad and the Poor Boy sandwich. Both were very good and good portions. Service was very great, friendly. We will definitely go back.
Libby Bennett
I am fortunate that I live on the Hill. I am in walking distance to all of St Louis' great Italian restaurants. Closest to me - which is a mixed blessing because of how yummy and close it is - is Joe Fassi's. I say "mixed" because I want to eat there every day! And I have come close a couple of times! It's not a far enough walk to balance the calories!
What can I say....their sandwiches are So. Good. Love the poor boy, the hot salami, the meatball, and so many others. So. Good.
Last week, I changed things up and ordered some pasta with Italian sausage and....wow. I have been missing out. I would put this pasta up against any of the fancy Italian restaurants on the Hill. Just tangy and delicious. Now it will be even harder to stay away!!
Love Joe Fassi's!
Kayla Hultz
So incredibly happy with the food, service, and the food. Haha. A good hot Italian sandwich is exactly what I wanted this morning when I woke up and they delivered that and then some. If I could give 10 stars I would. JOE FASSI WILL NEVER DISAPPOINT. 🧡 …

We have been regulars of Joe Fassi’s for at least 15 years. It is our preferred place for subs and salads/pasta combo. Among our favorite subs are the salsiccia, meatballs and the Roman torpedo. We usually dine in. In the summer is our go-to place for Picnic pick up for any Forest Park events. You cannot go wrong on aplace that has been in business almost 100 years!
Stan Durbin
I love this place! Fast friendly service and the sandwiches and salad are delish! Today I had Grandma Rosie's rocket and house salad, both fantastic! I picked up some meatballs and salsiccia to bring home. If you're on The Hill, it's worth your time to check them out!

You need to visit and eat at Joe Fassi Sausage & Sandwich Factory on The Hill. This 70-year-old business is a great place for lunch and dinner. Orders are prepared quickly and cheerfully by the staff. I stopped in for lunch (the #12 Sheriff Murphy’s Irish Sling) and also ordered a Meatball Sandwich and Pasta with Italian Sausage to take home. Sandwich meats are sliced to order, and you have a choice of breads – white, garlic cheese or wheat. My sandwich had thinly sliced corned beef with melted pepper and swiss cheese, thin sliced onions, pepperoncini, pickles and yellow mustard. A delight for the mouth. The hot sandwiches arrive at your table toasted and hot. Not microwave heated! They have a cozy seating area and outdoor seating is also available. The walls are filled with photos history showing the history of Joe’s and The Hill. Open every day except for select holidays.

Definitely has a neighborhood sandwich shop kind of feel. I really enjoyed the #1 Joe Fassi combo sandwich but at $11.11 for the sandwich, chips, and a drink I wouldn't call it a bargain. Unfortunately, I think it's par for the sandwich business and I'd rather support the local guys than a faceless Corp. Give them a try! Also, the guy that made my sandwich called me bubbles when he handed me my order! I don't know if it's a term of endearment or an insult to outsiders, either way it made me smile 😁
Mitchel Reuter
Definitely a hole-in-the-wall Italian sandwhich restaurant. Fair prices, friendly staff and delicious sandwhiches. Does not offer free water but was not a big deal. Highly recommended!
Yung Star
Smells really good when you enter. Ordered the #1 and it was incredible. They have a nice variety. Hot and cold sandwiches.
Byron Conley
Fresh, flavorful meats. Plenty of options. Friendly staff. Cool historic quality. Truthfully, sorta on the pricey side for sandwiches but worth it all the same. Looking for an easy lunch? Try it out.
Jason Farley
I was not impressed. It was decent, but nowhere near the quality for the price. I know prices are high right now, and everyone is struggling. I ordered the hot salami, which appeared to be the same sausage as my wife's Aunt Jennie Salsiccia. There was an undisclosed upcharge for the bread. My wife didn't want chips, so the person behind the counter said, "do you want a small pasta salad instead?" Yes, I would! 5 dollar charge for basically a bowl of dressing. My "hot salami" sandwich had more onions and yellow mustard than meat. I would say, no more than 3oz of meat per sandwich. $45.85 for a light lunch. No need to go back. I'll stick with Gioia's. That is if I can ever afford to eat out again! Thanks for the inflation, capitalist pigs!
A M
This place makes the best sandwiches I've ever had. not only in St. Louis, but anywhere on earth. I made the mistake of getting it on Uber eats, and now I cannot stop ordering it over and over. I've never been there in person, but the food is amazing.
Chris Just
Great place for a lunch and great sandwiches to boot! Service was fast and everything was tasty. Just wished they did 12 inch subs rather than doing only 9 inch.
R G
If you have denied your tastebuds the privilege of having a sub from Joe Fassi, then you are sorely missing out. Dude seriously knows his way around a good sub and the prices are just right. For $13 you get a sub, soda, chips, and two cookies. Hear me now and believe me later...treat yourself and then thank yourself for having done so. I personally love the Fassi combo but plan to try them all!
James Tosches
Meatballs are the best I’ve ever had. Me and the wife are stationed about 100 miles away but I’ll be making the drive whenever I can. Please do yourself a favor and eat here.
Spencer Hanning
Ordered a garlic sausage sammich n got a roast beef with gravy instead. The sandwich was fire though.
Lauren Altman
The best sandwich I have ever had. Its the #1. Great service!!! Very friendly people!
Matt Weaver
Nice little sandwich shop in STL. Very good sandwiches and nice little place. They have outdoor seating as well. We will definitely be back. I would recommend this place.
Elizabeth Ray
Kids enjoyed it too! Great food and atmosphere! Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. We had the #1 and a meatball sandwich so good.
Lynnette Vinson
The authentic Italian folk, super awesome Italian sausage, bread, marinara sauce, All magical. "The Hill" is the place for Italian in The Louie! SORRY the pictures were before we were served our food! Then forget pictures! It's was time to throw down! Next time!!!
Rooster Cogburn
Amazing food and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. If you're in The Hill definitely stop by and give them some love!
Alex Fischer
Delicious food and an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Being on the Hill, you have your choice of sandwich shops to visit. I like Joe Fassi's because they're quick and reasonable with the prices. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu.
Craig Sindel
Anyone looking to get warm on the below zero days go get the Yogi Berra dog! I like it with the garlic bread!
Alexander Vigil
Small and authentic. Strong menu and excellent quality. The staff was outstanding and very sweet.
Shay
Sandwiches are okay. We got a #2, #7, and #27. The 7 was good. All of the sandwiches seemed to be drippy and soggy. I love that they are a local, family owned business. I wish the sandwiches were better.
Kurtis White
Come on this place is excellent, sallcissia flavorful with perfect texture, sweet tangy tomato sauce on a soft crisp roll. Stl it up with melted provel. Pair this with the house salad and a few dads cookies you will not regret it.
Christopher LaRose
Very good sandwiches! They have homemade soup on the menu but most of the time the only "soup" available is Chili
Barb Brandt
Great place to eat! Lots of History on the walls!
N King
Fantastic Italian sandwich joint. Every meal was great! Recommend #29.
Travis S
The friendliest sandwich shop on The Hill! Great looking building inside and out, the owners were super nice, the service was quick, and they sell their meatballs and sausage frozen to take home too! The meatball sandwich was great, and I've never had better pasta salad - honestly. I usually hate olives, and somehow they made them tasty!? Will 100% be back, and I look forward to dining in for lunch sometime - a lot to look at on the walls. Tons of history!
Lisa Gutterman
Very clean. Quaint little place. You can tell the owner works very hard at what he does, family owned. Outside seating available. Homemade sausage and meatballs are available for good price to take home and prepare. I thought the prices were high $40 But probably a result of covid Lots of people are raising their prices just to stay afloat.. 2 guests, 2 sandwiches, salad and bowl of chili. The sandwich bread was very good. I would return.
Ryan Buell
Meatball sub is like 2x as expensive as Subway but 4x as tasty 🤷🏼♂️
Grace Liz
Great food, owner is really cool, nice vibe. I really liked this restaurant.
Lynn M
I love Joe Fassi's! My opinion this is the best sandwich shop around! There quick with there service and always kind on the phone and in person! Everytime I've ordered from here the bread has always tasted fresh and the sandwiches are awesome! I would highly recommend Joe Fassi to anyone looking for a tasty, filling sandwich!
Ashley Jennings
Delicious! We ordered through Door Dash and had Joe Fassi’s for the first time. I had the best meatball sandwich and opted to have it with garlic cheese bread for the bread part of my sandwich. My husband loves Cuban sandwiches and he had the Sheriff Murphy’s Irish Sling and he loved it! We added the famous St. Louis Dad’s Cookies and they were the perfect addition. We highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back again for sure! Thank you.
Emese Mattingly
Delicious!! I got a 1/2 hot salami sandwich and house salad, and the “1/2” was still huge! The salad had the right amount of tangy dressing, olives, artichokes, pimentos….so good.
Bryon Silinsky
We found this place by chance. The first place we stopped, a regular shop that we love, only had outdoor seating and it was about to rain. So we quickly looked for an alternative. The name was enough to get my attention. After arriving we were skeptical by the "no frills" store front. Don't let this fool you. Once inside you can instantly tell that they mean business. Large menu with hot and cold subs to be topped of with Salads, soup and pastas. After asking for the popular choices, we ordered. What we didn't know was that the orders were missed and we got sandwich that we didn't order. (Likely our fault for not being clear) thankfully this happened because we got a sandwich that we probably wouldn't have ordered and WOW was it amazing. We ate it so quickly that it wasn't until the end that we realized it wasn't what we actually ordered. One of my favorite sandwiches ever. "#13 Vince Fassi Salsiccia Slam" What a tasty treat. We were so thrilled that we went back up and ordered another sandwich to split. This time the meatball. Another fantastic sandwich. You can see the family's heart on the walls. A family tradition of making people happy. It was enjoyable to read the history of the Fassi's and awesome to have eaten there. A must try for Saint Louis.
Craig Zander
This is what a sandwich place should be ! Had the house made sausage sandwich # 10 . Really good sausage , wonderful red sauce on it . Nice people running . A 10 in my book
Casey Hahn
Fastest delivery in the area, with some of the best options to feed a group. Sandwiches are always filled to the brim with ingredients, and the chili mac is delicious (old school chili with large chunks of tomato and onion). We order from here regularly, and will certainly continue to.
Matt Young
My wife and I just had Joe Fassi for the first time and we fell in LOVE! My new favorite sandwich shop. Can't wait till we go back so I can try something else. My wife had the Carl Fassi and I had the Joe Fassi and we both loved it! See you guys real soon!
Lori C.
Great sandwiches and salads... awesome to go service and super nice guy behind the counter! Try a sandwich on garlic bread! Yum!
Ryan Chappell
I got a subnini to split with my girlfriend and the only bad part was that I didnt get my own.
Every time we go here it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten.
Dakota Cane
I typically always order the meat ball sub which is great but I wanted to try something different today and I went with the Emil Fassi American Bite and it is one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in my life. The fassi special sauce is unbelievable.
Jan and Mark Wiener
The best. A foodies dream. The hill. Do I need to keep going? Lol. Enjoy the experience. Blessings always.
Madelyn Puhl
Amazing food!!! The crew working were super friendly and awesome!! They even gave me a few slices of their roast beef for my pup for being a good boy in the car. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in STL.
John Smart
Homemade sausage rules! Tried #20 today (hot sausage sandwich) and my sister got the #7 (American cold sandwich) and they were excellent. Super friendly staff and owner. We'll be back!!
Radena Clark
It's a but costly, but #18 is 😋 delicious
I will be back.
Will T. (Crane422)
most underrated place on the Hill. Sandwiches are fresh and fantastic.
Anthony Casalone
Really good spot for lunch. First time going and enjoyed it. As soon as we walked in and looked around said "I can already tell I'm going to like this place." Has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant that you've been going to for years. Food was fantastic. I should have stopped eating long before I did, but couldn't help myself. This is a great quick lunch option if you are on The Hill.
Erin Caughlan
Small restaurant that is great for lunch. The sausages are homemade and delicious. I really like their house salad as well. I get that it's an Italian place, but I am not a fan of olives and a lot of their dishes include them. Not a big deal but the first time I ate here they forgot to remove olives from my salad. They did remember the second time I went though but I had to pull out at least 30 olives.
Kristen “Duracell” Fortune
EAT HERE! Great quality and a big menu for everyone. The workers were on top of it and hard working. The only suggestion would be a kids menu. We stopped here for lunch when traveling through and were not disappointed.
Deep Chatterjee
I'm not an Italian, so don't know about authenticity, but sandwiches were very good. And for the first time I loved eating an olive salad. Will go back.
Christopher Nuckolls
Great sandwiches and a lot of history.
Shiloh Terrell
Fantastic little Italian place, nearby to a stellar air bnb we stayed at. Very clean and full of character. They had a "pasta of the day" and their food was excellent.
K
They were really polite, friendly, sandwiches was delicious! Will be back soon.
Matt Higgins
We ordered a #1, an artichoke salad, and a package of 'Red wine and Garlic' sausages, all for my girlfriend. The sandwich and salad will last her 3 meals and she'll do something special with the sausage at a later date.
Everything at Joe's is top notch and homemade.
Melissa L
Yum. Red sauce makes my stomach feel like it's on fire. But I will eat joe fassi's meatball sandwich and pay the consequences. It's that good and worth it.
Jason Aldridge
Outstanding representation of what The Hill has to offer. If you have never been, make sure you don't skip the sausage. Melts in your mouth. Fantastic and can't wait to go back for more. Staff is amazing as always.
Dennis Borgman
First visit...been wanting to go for years
...super sandwiches with so many choices both cold and hot...salad is great and choices of salads too. Looking foward to trying pasta salad, meat balls, spaghetti and soups. Very unique and nostalgic neighborhood shop..wonderful atmosphere in an historic neighborhood.
Frank Ledferd
This is a nice little shop with a great atmosphere and awesome staff! Have eaten here twice and the food here is some of the best Italian food I have ever had. Fresh ingredients and fast service. This place is a must try.
Gabe Heydenreich
Amazing atmosphere and quality along with one of the nicest gentleman to not only run the register but build the sandwiches himself. Definitely recommend!
Vivian Tse
Best sub I have EVER had. The staff here makes your experience one of a kind and the history of the restaurant is truly inspiring. I am huge foodie, so I have been to many restaurants and Joe Fassi was a 10/10
Jason Granger
Amazing little sandwich shop that makes all of their sausages in house by hand. The sandwiches are on fresh bread baked locally on the hill and the sauce is an old family recipe handed down. Try their amazing olive salad and you can buy it by the pound to go.
Support your local sausage factory!
Ryan Buell
Gotta love the food. Sometimes very basic, but they know what's important when it comes to a good sandwich. Free Wifi. I love all the posters and family history on the walls. Kinda crowded seating....but I am always finding myself wanting to stay there a long time anyways. The staff is very laid back and friendly. I highly recommend Joe Fassi's to anybody that wants to try some of The Hill's best lunch places.
kristen malone
Great sandwiches. They also sell salsiccia and meatballs to take home. The meatballs are delicious!
David Ellet
Simply amazing sandwiches and salads. When you think of what a sandwich could be, custom made, hand made with awesome Italian taste, this is it! It doesn't feel like you are a customer, but more like a guest. It's an amazing feeling that you won't find at any place but Joe's!
Happy Wanderer
I feel awful that for over a decade I have been stuffing myself with subs from Joe Fassi’s and never left a review. This is THE hidden gem of the Hill. Everything is fresh, the amount of choices is spectacular and they have something for everyone.
Andrea Bruemmer
Love this long- time neighborhood sandwhich shop, with so much more than just sandwiches! For instance, the salad we had wad such a quintessential St. Louis salad and dressed perfectly. But of course, we went with the sandwhich, upon the owners recommendation ordered the meatball sub on garlic bread, a little tip: add the giardiniera, it's delicious😋 Obviously, we'r loved everything, but a great proponent of going here with bre the atmosphere, it's a small neighborhood shop with excellent service😀 Thanx for a great lunch!
Amanda Snyder
The Sicilian Surge sandwich is out of this world!!!!
Sandwich Club STL
We had a last minute change to our Sandwich Club Meeting and had to pick another Deli due to a street party at our chosen location.Joe Fassi Sandwich Factory was next on our list so we went here. What can I say that everyone else hasn't already said. Joe Fassi Sandwich Factory is a hidden gem that makes excellent sandwiches with great service. These guys know what they are doing. The decor has a real vintage charm with Sandwich menus on the wall. They also have a handy take home paper menu as well.Take the time to look around and read the memorabilia mounted on the wall while waiting for your sandwich to be handmade.Lots of history here. We Highly recommend The Meatball,Sheriff Murphy's Irish Sling & the Joe Fassi Combo. We Will be back. sandwichclubstl
David Behrmann
Historic little family owned Italian restaurant right next to where Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola played baseball as kids. The food was very authentic and the hosts are very friendly and happy to talk about the area. The restaurant walls pay homage to their Hall of Fame home boys. Read "Baseball is a Funny Game" and then come out and see this authentic old school Italian neighborhood commemorated in the Joe Garagiolas book where he and Yogi grew up across the street from one another around the corner on Elizabeith Avenue!
Kyle Cunningham
Ordered the Emil fassi American bite sandwich. Ordered it with extra meat and extra cheese..that was a mistake because it was nearly too big to eat..great sandwich guys!!
Victoria Smith
