Reviews of Cheeky Sandwiches

We were hungry and wanted to grab a bite, picked a restaurant and were heading there but half-way realized that nearby there is this cheap sandwich place with extremely good reviews. We decided to give it a chance and it was the right choice!
It took a moment to find the place because there is no banner or sign, also the entrance looks somewhat abandoned - broken windows and pale color. It took some courage to come in, but it was worth it. The place is very casual and relaxed, the atmosphere inside is great: music, wall paintings, friendly staff.
We ordered two sandwiches: beef and grass (goat cheese), paid totally 17 usd. They both were freshly prepared and tasted very good but the beef one was simply amazing 😻. We also got a complementary donut-like sweet snack.
We were eating inside at their only table, but they also have seats at the bar. The staff was very nice and polite.
Overall, I can absolute recommend this place, the food is great, as well as the atmosphere.

A little hard to find but well worth the search. The service was fast and pleasant. You can tell the owners/workers take pride in what they are doing. I got the chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint. The biscuits are top notch and the flavor on the chicken is really good. So often you get chicken sandwiches that are dressed up with all kinds of things that disguise the lack of flavor in the chicken itself. The toppings complimented the chicken, leaving it front and center. Can you get a better chicken sandwich in the city? I’m sure you can find a few somewhere. Can you get a better chicken sandwich for under $7? Absolutely not. A new LES staple

A wonderful hidden gem. It’s so easy to miss the door to the shop. I think I walked by twice before I was able to find it. The service is great. The woman at the counter was so friendly and nice. I had the shrimp po boy sandwich and it was so damn tasty and fresh. The French bread was nice hot and soft. The shrimp had great flavors and the veggies were all fresh. She also gave me a beignet to try and it was delicious. They have bar seating and one table on the inside. Definitely coming back to try the chicken biscuit sandwich.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! This is your local hole-in-the-wall sandwich joint. There’s no signage and it’s covered in graffiti and looks abandoned. I walked right past it 4 times before I finally found it and it was well worth the hunt. Not to be hyperbolic, but this was probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I had the short rib, but the pork sandwich sounded amazing too, so I’ll definitely be back to try that. There was no wait and I was in and out for under $10 - almost unheard of in NYC. I just can’t say enough good things.

I can’t even describe how much I loved this place. Was a bit hard to find (passed it twice), but so glad I didn’t give up. A hole in the wall, but with some seating, I had one of the best sandwich/biscuit combos in my life. Growing up in the south, the biscuits, gravy, and chicken were all on point and reminded me of my aunt’s cooking. Give. This. Place. A. Try.
Leon Lin
Good taste, average portions, price seemed average for that neighborhood in NYC.
Tried the shrimp sandwich, which seemed like it was prepared to order. Lots of flavour, think mostly from the sauces used. Wouldn't mind trying the other sandwiches if in the area.
Fady Kerko
Some of the best sandwiches I have had. Fried shrimp is one of the best. Nicely hidden and chill. Great comfort food. So many options. Hard workers and top customer service.
Alyssa
A New Orleans style sandwich in NYC! I had the fried chicken which was nestled into a buttermilk biscuit with gravy inside and purple slaw! The guy also snuck a free mini beignet in my bag! Yay! I can’t wait to try some of their other ones next time I’m in the LES. That whole area overwhelms me with so many food options, but this one is worth a try. Yum!
M I
Super delicious sandwiches and very affordable. Great options for everyone - veggie, breakfast, or chicken/beef/pork.
The space is small, but they do have one table and bar seating. Service is excellent.

Whoa. The chicken sandwich I had was well worth the bike ride my boyfriend talked me into (haha!). We grabbed some citi bikes and headed to cheekys on a Sunday morning. He has nothing but great things to say about this place so I just had to try it. Wasn’t disappointed.
I ordered the fried chicken sandwich that came on a savory biscuit and had gravy dripping over the sides. One word, delicious. I had a coffee which they use Cafe Dumont since the owner is from Louisiana. I also tried the ginger tea. Everything was so good! We also had a small order of beignets which tasted like small powdered balls of the amazing things in life. Please don’t pass those up. Make your visit count!
It’s a very small hole in wall type of spot but was clean and staff was friendly. I can’t wait to go back and bring a friend.
AMC
Amazing amazing amazing, my cousin had the beef short rib top of the top. My lady and I split the chicken sandwich definitely coming back
Harmeet Singh
One of the best breakfast fried chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. It’s a literal hole in the wall that produces some absolute heat. If you’re near Chinatown, hit it up quick!
Michele Guttermuth
Super small hole in the wall that looks closed but delicious sand which if you love chicken. The service is super quick and completely worth it. Definitely a must
Judith Mariona
This place lives up to to the hype! And better!!!! The chicken sandwich is to die for but the half and half on french bread is 10/10 breakfast sandwich was just ahhhh !!! Please check them out! P.s. also VERY budge friendly! All three were only $22 ENJOY!
Vivianne Barretto
The place is good for a quick bite. The space is small but very cute. I had the Chicken Biscuit with gravy and cole slaw and it was okay. The prices are good and so is the service. You can always get the food to go and enjoy it at Seward Park which is close by.
I might go back and try their shrimp po'boy and their beignets.
Renee Charles
This spot is well worth the walk. This fried chicken sandwich is from the GODS . Janelle and Dean are amazing. Everything is made fresh. I can't wait to go back.
John Donner
Vibe is great. Owners are super chill. And the food is very good comfort food.
I’m the last few years I’ve gone more clean and healthy in my taste, and tend to be disappointed by comfort foods, but Cheeky’s delivers. Every individual ingredient is packed with flavor and the combinations are expertly made.
Highly recommend the breakfast + salmon if you’re into fluffy eggs and smoked salmon.
Freddi
Excellent service and a great tasting sandwich! I had the shrimp and osyster poboy and I'd certainly order it again. I'd recommend giving this little spot a try.

Cheeky Sandwiches is a New Orleans-styled sandwich joint that serves a variety of sandos. the interior is a welcoming, worn-in, and has a quirky charm to it. there's one small table toward the front and a bunch of seats along the lunch counter. the space works well for solos, couples, and small groups. need a larger space for a bigger group? there are plenty of public seating options within walking distance. the menu is mostly sandwiches (the are some vegetarian options) as well as a couple of desserts choices. just soft drinks, no adult beverages...it's all about comfort food calories! despite being somewhat of a 'hole-in-the wall"--don't judge this book by its cover bc you will miss out on that NOLA experience in NYC.
got the half and half po' boy--1/2 fried oysters + 1/2 fried shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo (maybe remoulade), and hot sauce. this seafood po' boy definitely has the crunch of the fried seafood and crispy veggies. it is a nice mice of flavors from the seafood to the kick of the hot sauce. the french roll is nice and airy on the inside, soaking up the other flavors (though it is missing that crispy outside that most po' boys traditionally have). the po' boy is really small. wish Cheeky's used a wide and bigger french roll (size does matter, sometimes! lol) and stuffed it accordingly with more shrimp and oysters as this sandwich is gone before you know it. i would definitely pay more if they made it much bigger as it is a tasty, flavorful rendition of a NOLA po' boy. it costs $8.50 + tax + tip.
the service is superfriendly and chill. the people who work here definitely have a nice vibe that resonates through this no-frill eatery.
Christopher Doty
The Cheeky Sandwiches is a bit hard to find but well worth the search. It’s a small restaurant that serves up incredible foods, all with their own spin on southern cuisine. From chicken sandwiches to pork to beignets, wow, this place is incredible. To make it even better, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Thank you! Greetings from Norway!
Sarah Robinson
My Chicken Biscuit sandwich was straight fire... especially because I got a side of hot sauce that was hot hot hot! Yummy!!! Recommendations did not steer me wrong when it came to this place. Also is a taste of New Orleans with a fresh beignet with every order!!
Josh Zignego
The chicken and the half shrimp half oyster sandwiches were both very good.
Ari Sklar
Wow. Amazing Hole-in-the-Wall place with amazing quality food for ridiculously low prices. The Crispy Chicken Buttermilk sandwich is one of the most genuine dishes I’ve had in a while. Service is good but there isn’t much place to sit except on the bar and 1 table in the corner. Great Beignets too!
Jordan Carter
Don't be intimidated when you walk in cause the food and service are off the chian worth it. Me and my bestie ordered 3 different sandwiches to share and they were ALL beyond delicious!! A definite 10 out 10!! You have to go!!
Sarah Velez
Not what I expected. The chicken sandwich isn't all that. I also had the shrimp sandwich, that tasted a little better. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the service was good.
Chris Gregory
Cheap and very high quality. Got the chicken (fried chicken biscuit sandwich). It was pretty small so I'd get two things.
Beignets are awesome. Bread pudding is very good but a bit small & it was only partially heated up.
DAVESH SHINGARI
Ordered fried chicken with biscuit, gravy and coleslaw. Chicken was fresh and really flavorful. Little more oily as per my liking but no complaints on flavor. It is really small place and you need to pay attention to find the entrance door. Chilled out atmosphere with nice people. Would recommend this place.
Ven Sprecher
Love the chicken sandwich the most, but you can't go wrong here. Also great desserts and ginger tea.
Rishi Patel
One of the best spots in New York City! Southern style sandwiches in a locally ran place. This may be the most messiest meal you eat, but so worth it. place looks very basic and simple but it felt really authentic and unique. The walls have poems and posters to read whilst you wait. Do note that there is no clear sign outside the restaurant and we walked past it a few times looking for it. What is strange is that they had no soft drinks other than their ginger ale. They gave complimentary beignets after we are freshly made that were warm and soft!!! Vegetarian option available which sounds great!!
A K (NYCPerformanceTennis)
Tremendous sandwiches in a cool vibe setting! A few tables and counter-top service! Great prices, great food, great service! Can't say anything bad about this joint, probably one of the few hidden gems in the city! Plus, don't forget their breakfast sandwich!!
Eric Ho
This place is still open and definitely needed to check them out. The chicken biscuit sandwich is super bomb, you won’t want to try Popeyes after going here. The gravy is what ties everything together!
Lisa G.
Customer service n food was good! It was 5 of us including 2 kids an everyone loved it...will be going back. Small chill spot to grab a bite. The chicken sandwich 🥪 was a hit 😋 n the ben-yays!! …
Kevin Lovingood
Awesome, small bite place. Inside is intimate, so prepare to just get the sandwich to-go. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich for a decent price. The buttermilk biscuit and coleslaw and fried chicken complimented each other better than I expected. It's also a messy sandwich. They have several other options I'm willing to go back and try, like pork and po' boy sandwiches.
Vicki Mitchell
This place is literally " a hole in the wall". Saw the Chef/Owner on Chopped and had to visit. The sandwiches and "ben-yays"were yummy and the staff were friendly.
Mark Shehata
These sandwiches... wow... overwhelmingly good and they gave us complimentary treats since we pretty much ordered every sandwiches on the menu (pic posted below). Friendly guys and they sometimes have games on the side like Cards Against Humanity... worry the visit!
Ben Clark
Amazing breakfast sandwich and the biscuit was incredible. We kind of stumbled into this place when we were unexpectedly in the neighborhood and would definitely go again. Interesting vibe, friendly staff, excellent food. The cook has to be some kind of body builder, he's huge.
Moontachier Taseen
This place was undeniably fire, my friends and I heard about the place and had an interesting experience trying to find the place. The place looks a little odd from the outside and that was distintcly why we couldn't find it for a good minute. Regardless, step in and find a great staff and environment to just relax with your friends and eat good food. The food was something I have never had before and to be honest its the BEST SANDWICH I'VE CONSUMED. On top of that the accomodations they had for my friends and I just put it over the top for me, for the amazing experience I've had in this establishment.
Joseph Ferguson
I love little dive places like this. I got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The biscuit is grilled slightly brown and not dry at all. Looking forward to stopping in late at night for the chicken sandwich.
Meghan Tschanz
Incredible chicken biscuits. Incredible service. 5 stars.
Viraj Patel
Decent sandwich. Had the half and half po bow. I enjoyed the shrimp side much more than the oyster side. I wouldn't get the oyster again, they tasted a bit off. Also the interior is dark and run down. I'd only get take out or eat outside here.
Patty Greer
woke up this morning with a need for a quality biscuit and boy did cheeky delivery. The chicken biscuit & grass sandwich are a must must must. Incredible vibes from the staff, great atmosphere an absolute LES go to.
Seamus Thompson
The definition of a "hidden gem" a bit hard to find but everytime I make it here in the morning for a chicken & biscuits is a good morning. So happy this place is still open!
Ella Wade
Delicious Short Rib (Beef) sandwich that tasted so fresh and full of flavor. Ordered on UberEats and still arrived hot. Paired with a biscuit and the honey included was so tasty. Can’t wait to order again!
Carney Anderson
I love this place. They only make a handful of things, but everything they make is fantastic. The service was quick, the vibe was welcoming, and most importantly the food was delicious!
Emily Chaney
This is the best New Orleans style food I have had in the city!! And I am from the south. The shrimp po’boys are incredible and the bread pudding is the best I have ever had. It’s also very affordable!
Duane Brown
Decent biscuit and jam. Nothing special though.
T
These sandwiches are so fun, great taste and amazing prices! I ordered the chicken which is a classic & the grass sandwich with the fried goat cheese. Now that’s a banging veg sandwich!
Julia Enthoven
Best value food in all of Manhattan. Quick, cheap, and extremely delicious. I like the staff here and felt very welcome indoors. Apparently they have a great breakfast sando.
maggie lalowski
My partner and I were doing a food crawl through the Lower East Side, this was by far my favorite place. We shared the chicken sandwich without slaw. The chicken was juicy, crispy. The biscuit was flaky but held together until the end. I will definitely be back. The service was amazing. They noticed that we were sharing the sandwich and even offered to cut it in half for us after we were served. For our "wait" not even five minutes they gave us beignets for free.
Rafael
This place is just amazing. Incredible sandwiches. Incredible service (friendliest guy who gave us a free beignet!). Great area. Cool vibe inside. Definitely add this to your trip if you’re visiting New York
Henry Cheng
If you a regular you would recognize and know how to order on the sandwiches shown 😉😍🤤😋 …
Kenji
One of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city! Definitely the best at that price point. The po'boys are also excellent here!
mike mike
Food was good staff was friendly. Wish they added some more options on the menu like frys but the sandwiches were really good
Semhal TA
A little taste of NOLA in NYC!
I heard about Cheeky some time ago but thought it had closed. Was so very excited to find that it was open again via Infatuation.
The first sip of chicory coffee took me back to New Orleans!
I had the chicken sandwich which is smothered in gravy. I thought that one may not be enough but it was plenty. The sandwich is delicious - a crisp and flaky buttermilk biscuit, perfectly seasoned large piece of chicken and just the right amount of slaw.
We enjoyed the tasty bite-sized Ben-Yaye (aka Beignets). They have a good selection of Zapp’s chips.
This is a calorie rich meal so it’s not a daily occurrence in our household but definitely becoming a weekly treat!
Head over to Cheeky and support a great Black-owned restaurant that turns out a delectable meal!
Josiah Chapman
The best sandwich shop I’ve ever been to! I currently live in Austin, Texas, and I still think about how delicious Cheeky’s is. The fried chicken and homemade biscuit is an instant classic. In the sandwich world, Cheeky’s stands out by offering only 9 sandwich’s, each worthy of paragraphs of praise. The attention to detail is second to none, the quality is notable, and the hole-in-the-wall aesthetic complements the experience seamlessly. When I first visited, I literally stumbled on the place—a little white door on the edge of china town, in the heart of the east side, two steps down into a one room restaurant with newspaper wallpaper and bottled sodas and hand pressed sandwiches amongst an array of quirky kitchen tools and machines and ingredients. The space is cozy almost to a fault, forcing the owners to squeeze everything in. But that’s half the charm. When I stumbled in, I instantly loved the laid back, casual feel. Even still, I was skeptical. Could such a small, cramped little artsy sandwich shop produce a quality product? After my first bite, I was in love. Cheeky’s is unlike any other restaurant you’ll ever visit. Truly one of a kind.
Jade D
Awesome spot for a quick, affordable bite in the LES area! Hole in the wall with a sick vibe, and even better sandwiches!! The beef short rib sandwich is insane. Can’t wait to come back to try the other items!!
Quintin Velazquez
If you don't know, you might miss it. I was only able to find it because I heard they had a C rating and noticed that before any signage. You walk in and it's about a wing span width theres bar style seating and maybe one table and chair. But let's get to the food. Whoa! That chicken and gravy biscuit is something to behold. Juicy chicken breast on a bed of slaw covered in thick gravy on a biscuit that I'm still thinking about. The wife had the shrimp po boy that was equally delightful and normally I'm all over those but I was too engaged in the chicken. Eating at the counter and taking it all in there's a rustic, NYC 80s punk vibe... In all honesty there aren't many places like this and I was so glad we stumbled upon this place. Go if you dare, dont be scared. (There were some older uppity women debating and peering in, they ultimately didnt go in... their loss).
Amanda Rivkin
Get the egg n cheese on a biscuit it’s soooooo good!! Well seasoned eggs with melty muenster cheese mmmm. New orleans inspired joint that has an alternative punk sorta lower east side feel to it. Super cool. Very easy to miss on the street! Really chill staff with southern hospitality. Will definitely come back soon!
Kelly Brown
This is my favorite restaurant ever, the food was fantastic and the portions were perfect and the people that worked there were some of the nicest people I have ever met, I really hope they get the recognition they deserve.
Caroline C
Simply awesome: good and cheap food with amazing service. I had the ben-yays and fried chicken biscuit sandwich! Yummy yummy!
Jessica Coelho
Cool, hip and young yet unpretentious. Tremendous food! Order the buttermilk biscuit with fried chicken and don’t you dare leave without beignets - they’re only $1!!
Andy
really good sandwiches, the meat is tender and flavorful. My only tip is ask for no horseradish.
Charlie Diebolt
This place is absolutely fire, everything is so effing delicious and cheap. There’s magic in this little spot and you can feel the essence of New Orleans in everything.
Please gatekeep this joint enough to keep it away from tourists but patronize enough to make it successful.
I’ll be a customer forever
anton smith
A little hidden but well worth it, great sandwich, kind staff
Ibrahim Mimou
Classic hole in the wall joint where you sit on the countertop and watch them cook. It’s classic, it’s tasty, it’s made in front of your eyes as you smell everything right before you eat. Classic fried chicken with gravy on top of a biscuit, tater tots, Italian cola, and there’s more too!
Lisa F
What a great place! Delicious food and incredible service. We'll definitely be going back!
Max Steele
Great place to eat
Thanks Kin you are the best
The owner puts in a lot of great work 👏👏

Half Fried Oyster + Fried Shrimp Po' boy and Bread Pudding
Raymond Knudsen
Great taste, portion size and price. They even gave me a free beignet, which was very sweet. Chicken sandwich was delicious.
Richard Taylor
This place is just amazing. As someone who misses the familiar tastes of Louisiana this scratches that itch perfectly. The vibe and the atmosphere is great and the food is phenomenal. I ordered the beef sandwich, ginger ale, Zapps Voodoo Chips, and some "ben-yays". A more than reasonable price for a quality of food that honestly was a surprise. The challah bread was soaked with the juice from the beef and the fresh vegetables helped cut down on the salty taste. The beignets weren't like the traditional style and much closer to a little ball of sugar covered dough; i couldn't have been happier. I ate outside with a friend and enjoyed the quiet street.
Harrison
Love this place, especially when im longing for New Orleans. Staff is incredibly friendly.
Luke Gibson
we had breakfast sandwiches, which were amazing. i hadn’t had a real biscuit in my life until i came here. the guy running the place was just so cool and kind, he noticed our water bottles and offered to refill them, and he even slipped a couple of free beignets in our bag. wish i could come here all the time!
Matteo Hernandez
Place always looks closed and when you walk in it’s always full, amazing sandwiches
David Zhang
You can spend a lifetime searching for a better fried chicken biscuit sandwich and may never find one that comes close.
Gabe
I think this is the best fried chicken sandwich in the city, especially for the price. They are cheap enough that you can try one of their other great sandwiches too but the chicken one shouldn’t be missed.
giovanni escalera
Delicious sandwiches made lo locals. Very Lower East side 80s vibe. Not for tourists.
Jessica
Every sandwich hits the spot from the fried chicken sandwich to the breakfast wich to the shortrib to the poboys to the veggie/grass.
Minhal Faiz
I thought this was one of those places that just has good reviews but doesn’t live up to the hype. But I was proven wrong. The buttermilk chicken sandwich was easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in quite a while. The biscuit and chicken itself were flavorful and soft. The gravy complimented the sandwich as well. Definitely worth the trip to the city.
Frederick B
Best oyster Poe boy I ever had, and I have lived in Charleston South Carolina for the past 20+ years. Spectacular food. Little spot, you may miss it walking by, you will be glad to go in a try. Planing on going back and trying some other items again very soon.
Vincent DoVale
The beef sandwich was so tasty, and the staff is so laid back and cool. Definitely a go to spot. All for a more than fair price.
Olivier Miller
Amazing food and really reasonably priced! Had the fried chicken sandwich and a beignet! This place really deserves more attention!
Brook Kristofer
One of the best sandwiches I have ever had in the city.
Ryan James
Very good Sandwiches, the prices are fair but the sizes leave me wanted to buy 2 sandwiches each time I visit this place. The chicken biscuit was the #1 pick for me. Beef was good but not as nice as the chicken Biscuit.
Keynan Parker
this is a restaurant that has such good atmosphere for its small size. the fried chicken sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit was delicious. if you’d like that extra kick, ask for a side of hot sauce and you’ll be set.
Erin Bernard
My boyfriend and I were wandering down Orchard street on foot around 2pm on a Wednesday and we barely noticed Cheeky Sandwiches - a true hole-in-the-wall eatery - but thank goodness we did. We ordered the "chicken" and "grass" sandwiches and got blood orange sparkling fruit fruices, and we're not sure which one of us chose better. Both of them were packed with flavor, texture, and enough substance to leave us feeling full with our hunger satiated, but not bloated.
The co-owners who served us were efficient as well as friendly and made pleasant conversation, and even gave us extra complimentary beignets.
We stayed longer than we normally do when we're just going for a quick bite to eat, and it was a welcome break in our afternoon!
Tldr; Don't miss your chance if you're in the area!
Ps: I'm definitely adding your guys' place to the Secret Society of Sandwich Enthusiasts Facebook page (a northeast-based guide to the best sandwich eateries) .🥪 Oh shoot, I let the secret out.👀
dima lahlouh
Love this place. Amazing chicken sandwich! We've ordered the beef but the chicken sandwich stands out. Tender chicken breast topped with a delicious gravy and Cole slaw . Set on a delicious biscuit. You cannot go wrong. Take it to go since the place is small and not the prettiest setting. But the sandwich is worth it. A gem in China town!
Drew Waller
The chicken biscuit here is insanely good. It’s fried perfectly and the coleslaw went so perfectly with it. I’ve never been one to like the white gravy but it really was a perfect sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re from the south and you just want a good chicken biscuit.... Magnificent.
Raquel
Small but delicious sandwiches! I really liked the fried chicken one.
Matti Leppänen
Excellent sandwiches and biscuits in a cool, unpretentious space. Amazing value for money.
Jackson Slaughter
Very slow. Ordered online and was told the food was ready, but I had to wait 30 minutes when I got there. Fried chicken was great though.
Peter Bakker
Good sandwiches and a very reasonable price point. The entranceway is a bit unassuming so keep an eye out for the sign above the door
Jonathan S
Excellent! Tried the chicken sandwich and it was perfect. Service for a sit down casual place was great also, honestly better than some sit down restaurants.
Jackson Guthrie
A cool, low key spot with a small menu of phenomenal sandwiches. Get the beef brisket for your first time.
Earth Goddess
Had my first sandwich the other day and I chose the Chicken Sandwich on a biscuit. It was really amazing! Not a fan of cole slaw but they definitely know how to execute it. Great hole in the wall spot. Customer service was great. Will be visiting again soon ❤️
Gena Merritt
Their Biscuits and Gravy is the best o have ever eaten!
R H
I’ve been here twice and the chicken biscuits are AMAZING! Made perfectly every time. I ordered 4 in total, two for me and two to bring home to my family. They were that good. The biscuits were so warm and buttery and the chicken was fried perfectly. The gravy and cole slaw on top was soooo good too.
Polly Anywhere
Finally made it to this little heaven; and it does not disappoint. This is going to be the weekly ritual. Yummmmmm
Sam Miller
Best sandwich in NYC. Nope, screw it - best sandwich on planet Earth. Short Rib, Horseradish, Tomatoes, Arugula on Ciabatta Bread - I don’t know who dreamed this up, but I wanna find their parents & thank them for their service.
ALSO - prices are insane. I almost wanted them to charge me more, so it felt fair. The sandwiches are so affordable, you can try everything on the menu - I know I did. The Chicken Sandwich is also an all-timer (again, gravy & coffee slaw on a biscuit??? where is the virtuoso genius behind all of this???), & the Shrimp Po-Boy dressed woulda been worth the trip on its own.
Truly cannot recommend this place more - if you’re only visiting NYC, go early in your trip, so you have time to come back several times.
Maya Bisram
Great and affordable sandwiches! But please put less horseradish in the beef sandwich!!! It’s a plea.
Christopher Westendorf
I split the chicken and the beef. I had the chicken based on the recommendation from my friend who sent me to this place and oh my god it is delicious. The biscuit is perfect!. I also had the beef based on the chef/owners recommendation and it was outstanding. I was so glad he recommended it because I didn't even consider it when I was looking over the menu. In addition to the delicious food the decor was on point, great personality to it and the murals were very tasteful.
Joshua
very friendly staff and such yummy food! im not much of a sandwich person so i got the chicken strips instead. wasn't expecting much since their specialty is sandwiches, but they were delicious!

Nice surprise! Great sandwiches! Had the seared pork and the fried chicken sandwiches! While eating at the counter, there was a steady stream of regulars. Definitely recommend!!
Derrick Juarez
I took chance on this little spot, walked about 20 minutes for it and I did not regret it. I only got chicken sandwiches but it was so so good. Definitely going back and highly recommend. Not to mention the staff was really friendly.
Shubhom B
Cheeky's is a hidden gem of LES, highly recommend for anyone who loves Southern/Cajun food. Especially great for breakfast chicken sandwiches or po boys, and they have a really good chicory coffee as well.
Lego Frogo
The store is nothing to write home about. But despite its simplicity, it makes up for it with personality.
The sandwiches are amazing. I tried a goat cheese sandwich and didnt disappoint. Last I checked, I believe they moved to around the corner.
Oh and the prices are very reasonable for the quality.
Amy Arensberg
We ordered the chicken, beef and pork sandwiches. The pork was very good and the flavor reminded me of the balsamic marinade I make for my tenderloin. The beef was even better, and not sweet like the pork. The best one, though, was the chicken. In not a big fan of biscuits nor slaw, and I really don't like gravy; but somehow this sandwich was delicious. The biscuit wasn't too heavy and the gravy was light and peppery. The purple slaw was a nice complement to the overall flavor. The prices were very good, especially considering the quality, and the portion size was just right.
Wyatt Moore
One of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had, and a great price. Tight on space inside, but really nice owners making great food
johanfy fermin
awesome sandwich spot! would give more than 5 stars if possible. funny story, went in looking for chopped cheese sandwiches (misguided by some random list online) but sadly they didn't have them on the menu. after a few laughs and jokes the man attending us offered to make us his version of the sandwich. the sandwich was out of this world, and he even threw in a couple treats on the house for our trouble. great service, highly recommend. will definitely return again to try their other sandwiches (that are on the menu).
Sophia Christian-Holliday
I got the chicken biscuit with gravy and my husband got the pork chop with onions and apples. I loved my sandwich, but felt my husband's sandwich was a little too vinegary for me. The portions were good for the price. The service was friendly and quick. We will be back!
Davud Tule
Great chicken sandwiches and super friendly staff!
John Tao
Best fried chicken with gravy biscuit sandwich in NY hands down. The chicken is super crunchy, slaw is tart, gravy is crazy and the biscuit is buttery soft. The chef and cashier were cool and there's good music playing. The menu is simple, and everything is good. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the restaurant just seems a little "seasoned".
Griffin Jennings
I grew up in nyc and every now and then a new sandwich shop arrives, some of them stick around and some of them disappear, but this is one of the best. Legit New Orleans cooking- the chicken biscuit is kind of unbelievable
Daniel Phelps
One of the best chicken and biscuit sandwiches I have ever had. I really enjoyed the simple and delicious menu. The service was also incredible here, especially for the price. I would recommend trying this place at least once. My only caution is that it is hard to find, and you might walk by it like I did. Look for a white door. It may be a small place, but the vibes and food are awesome.
Connie Hu
I love this spot! You really can’t beat the prices and the quality of the sandwiches. I’ve had the fried chicken sandwich, ben-yays, and bread pudding - all great. I can’t wait to try the other sandwiches. Definitely a fave of mine in the city!
Emaad Paracha
A great little gem in NYC. I had to walk up and down twice to find it, it is very very small, but the food is great. Their sandwiches are great, especially to take along with you to wherever you’re going. You could sit and eat there too but it might feel a bit too cramped. Amazing place though and great service as well!
Reese Costis
Staff were so awesome, and the sandwiches were crazy good, albeit on the small side. Cool vibe and good music while we ate at their only table.
Adam Buffery
The fried chicken sandwich makes Cheeky one of the best spots in NYC
Jayjay Eveins
The sandwiches here are bomb! Whenever I have someone from outta town visiting this is my go to spot. Super chill vibe and a hidden gem in Chinatown
Gabriel Majoulet
That’s a fried chicken sandwich in a biscuit you could never eat anywhere else! Awesome.
Pawel
I tried beef and vegan sandwich, grreat flavour, good price and kind service. Absolutely recommended to stop here!
Jonathan Sabin
Sandwiches took a while but came out very hot and delicious! There's not much place to sit so if you have more than 3 people I wouldn't recommend this place, but it has AC and is fine for a small group. What i like the most are the writings on the wall and the art, great vibe.
Artit Jirapatnakul
Very good food at a reasonable price. They do tend to run out of their oyster po'boys later in the day, so get there early if you want one. I tried some of the beef, pork, and chicken sandwiches and I thought they were all pretty good. The service is also good though the same people taking orders are also making them. Overall I'd recommend.
Neil Cavendish
Omg, yes it's a little expensive for the portion size. But dam do they make a good sandwich! We actually tried 3 different ones while there and each one was perfect! So try not to flinch at the price and get yourself a cheeky little sandwich you won't regret it!
Peter Flanagan
Guys there are friendly and gave us beignets. Also nice that they take credit cards. Have had everything on the menu at this point and it is all awesome (besides the Po Boy, which is just okay). They’re known for their chicken sandwich but you can’t go wrong with anything else.
Ruslan Klezmer
Absolute gem for the neighborhood, most amazing sandwiches I had in long long while
Wish I didn't have to travel to the city from Brooklyn for these mouth watering creations
Gotta try the bread pudding for dessert, reminds me of grandma's home made bread pudding. Will make your taste buds rocket to the moon after 1 bite I swear
RacheL Colon
Found them after doing a search for the beat chicken sandwiches in nyc. They came up and we went over. The service was amazing! The chicken sandwich was delish! My son super picky said “I ain’t going to lie, but this is the best chicken sandwich I’ve had hands down!” The service was phenomenal! Highly recommend!!!
Lyn R.
This is small place but the food is very yummy especially the chicken biscuit sandwich❣.
I went there to celebrate my anniversary with my hubby. Thier hospitality was so nice and kind.
Most definitely will go again.
Thank You.
Justin Paul Ware
I've been coming here on and off for years, and I cannot begin to express how highly I regard this fine establishment. Not only is the food delicious, but the hospitality and service offered by the staff is some of the best I've experienced. Period. The staff is ALWAYS incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in their customers and the experience of every patron. I have so much respect for a place that keeps their menu simple and just offers consistently high quality food. I'm very fond of both the Chicken and the Beef sandwiches. If you're going with others, I recommend ordering a few to share so that you can try at least those two. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality. And if you're lucky, they're very generous with their delicious beignets, which I've had the pleasure of sampling on multiple occasions. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I brought my sandwich back to my office today and found two beignets tucked away in my bag, and it's personal touches like that that will keep me coming back over and over again. I HIGHLY recommend.
Leo Rudberg
Delicious and super impressive sandwiches and very friendly service! The old school lunch counter is a nice touch too. I even got an extra beignet 😋
Tyler Lund
Cheeky has been described as the best sandwiches in NYC, and though they don’t necessarily live up to that high bar, they are quite good. Service is pleasant though a little slow, but at least you know your sandwich is being made fresh. The space inside is tiny with one small table and some bar seats, so you’re likely looking at takeout. The fried chicken sandwich is delicious with a superb biscuit bread and crispy but moist chicken inside. The slaw is also delicious which is why it’s disappointing that you get so little. The short rib sandwich was also great, especially the awesome Challah bread. Again the horseradish was tasty, but I could have used a little more to balance the bread.
Brian L
This is a small but pretty hip sandwich shop with wall art and home made looking furniture. It wasn't busy when I went, but I was surprised it was only managed by only one guy. The sandwiches came out delicious and we didn't have to wait very long. Only problem was that the food was done within a few bites. I wished the portions would be bigger because I loved it and wanted more! I ordered the beef sandwich and it was delicious, there was horseradish sauce in the sandwich (I'm not really a fan of horseradish) but it didn't over power the sandwhich too much. I wonder if there will be a substitute sauce for the sandwich? I also tried a bite of the chicken sandwich and it was amazing. The fried chicken and biscuit was so delicious, it was just a small sandwich though, so you might need two of them to be more satisfied. This was a very taste satisfying meal!
marvin n
It is a small space and the service is very personal. When I went on a Saturday night it was not crowded but it was also raining. The chicken sandwich was delicious, this was my second time trying it. I got a drink and the guy forgot to give it to me when the food was ready, he gave us some extra food for it which he didn't have to. It is not on a busy street and surrounded by Chinese businesses , it is in east Chinatown after all .
You should make the effort to try it out, it is worth it!
J Liu
Great little shop and very friendly staff! Limited seating inside and a bench outside.
The beignets are heavenly when they are straight out of the fryers. Love the slaw on their chicken biscuit, it's on the small side but it is sure filling!
Foodlover Girl
This is where you can get some authentic New Orleans style sandwiches. The storefront was simple, but cozy and welcoming. The inside was narrow and small, with some counter seating and one table seating.
We were there for breakfast, pretty early, so it was not busy yet. I ordered their Chicken Sandwich, and was very happy to see the sandwich when it came out hot out the oven! Looked great! And it tasted even better than it looked. It had delicious gravy, perfectly fried chicken, and the biscuit…oh my, it was awesome!
My hubby ordered the Sea Sandwich. The great thing about this one is that you could also do 1/2 and 1/2! Of course, we picked that option and got 1/2 Shrimp po’boy and 1/2 oyster po’boy. Fried shrimp one was spicy! Had a really nice kick to it, which I enjoyed. The fried oyster was super crispy! I loved that, no soggy part, and really fresh too.
Another awesome thing about Cheeky Sandwich is that with the order of sandwiches, you get complimentary mini beignets!!! And even better, they understand some people might not know how to pronunciation it, so, they named it “Ben-Yay’s” on their menu!
The staffs were very welcoming from the moment we walked in. We had a really nice breakfast, we and our tummy were happy!
Joe Hoffmann
Hidden gem in Chinatown. My sandwich was superb
Larry Cosentino
Great little gem of the neighborhood. Small but cozy. The guys are super friendly. Interesting and intriguing menu - I'm excited about trying more of it on my future trips.
Wayne Lee
Stepped into their sorry excuse for a bathroom and thought this would be a 3 star place, max. But then their fried chicken sandwich blew me away.
Martin Murphy
They’re amazing. Get the beef and don't forget your napkins.
Steven Jacob
po boy and the veg one were great!
Yang-Chieh Lee
Went here to get a quick bite for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! Would definitely go back a second time! It was a little hard to find the entrance but wel worth the time to look for it!
Sana Rahman
So good! A taste of NOLA in NYC - will def be back!
Michael Buckingham
Love this place. Super friendly and welcoming with great food. A local experience not to be missed.
The vegetable sandwich popped with flavor.
Chris Lee
Love the food, love the name! I've heard about this place from a coworker and read about their sandwiches on food blogs. I finally checked them out not too long ago and I'm so glad I did. I almost missed the spot because it looks like such a hole in the wall dingy place but the sandwiches are amazing! Definitely try the po boy sandwich. Ugh, I need to go back ASAP!
Matthew Tung
Got the beef and half & half, both were really good. Really like the use of horseradish in the sandwiches. They also gave us a benyay each fer free. Would go again fer sure
Mark Lee
Never had such amazing sandwich. The chicken melted in my mouth!
Ashley Levine
Beef short rib sandwich and chicken biscuit was so good!! Great customer service! Thank you Marvin!
Morgan Williams
I was craving a po boy. This was a good place to go to. Be warned online prices are not the same as in-store prices. The oysters were delicious and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Bread wasn't spectacular and it's definitely key for a good sammich. The beignets... Overrated. Food came quickly. Small little joint. Friendly staff. It's not close to me so I may not return but I'd recommend if you're in the area. Close to the Grand Street B/Q
karl burkart
One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Everything made from scratch including the buttery biscuit. I'd ask for light on the gravy.. it's delicious but almost interferes with the perfection of the fried chicken.
Bob Lou
The sandwiches are a bit small, just like the space, but they make up for it with creativity and taste. Everything tastes freshly made. I tried their chicken on a biscuit and beef short rib on challah, both were excellent sandwiches.
Nicholas Feitel
Remarkably cheap New Orleans po’ boys. Staff is extremely nice. When i went once they were out of beer so they let me BYOB and gave us recommendations of where to get ice cream in the neighborhood. Plus the chicken biscuit is dank. Highly recommend.
Benjamin Lee
Oh my. Chicken sandwich was next level. Definitely check this spot out!
W A
Service was great. Nice little place which you can miss pretty easily walking by it. Different options to choose from. Sandwich can be a bit messy when eating but it's definitely worth it. Very tasty food. The staff is very friendly.
Kareem Glover
A little off the beaten path but soo well worth it. Don't let the outdoor appearance fool you.. The oyster / shrimp on French bread was delicious with the underpending New Orleans flavor coming through. Great spot to have on your go-to list.
Eva Kerner
The service was great. We had a very complicated time choosing what to order b/c everything looked so good! We went with two Sea Po'Boys (half fried oysters, half shrimp) & a bread pudding. Din, who runs this place, was incredible. I inhaled my sandwich and ordered another one! People in line didn't know what to get & Din just pointed at me & said 'she liked the po boy...!' Suffice to say, I'm coming back here.
Andy Lochan
I've never had a bad experience here, the food is really tasty. The price is very fair, the drinks are good, and the people behind the counter are really nice to talk to. The vibe is really chill and they got a neat bathroom lol. Go later in the afternoon for free street parking, or use the 2 hours meters. The Po Boy is my fav, and the Beignets are great for the $$.
litha bacon
The sandwiches are quirky. The venue is "interesting" if you like alleyways with corrugated roofs...
Priscilla Yuen
I bet you'll never find Cheeky Sandwiches on your own. This place is small and it is really easy to walk right past it. This little hole-in-the-wall is located on the far edge of Chinatown. Their menu is written on a board on the right side as you walk in. They have shrimp and oyster po'boys and sandwiches with chicken, beef, pork, or veggies.
I went with the popular fried chicken on buttermilk biscuit with gravy. It was huge and delicious. The chicken wasn't too dry and the biscuit was great! It was an awesome cheat day meal!
The guy behind the counter kept checking if I needed more napkins and gave me beignets (or Ben-Yays, as they call it) to try since it was my first time there. They have seven stools at the counter, plus one small table.
Patrick Daniels
Spectacular! What am amazing experience! The fried chicken sandwich layered with gravy and coffee slaw on a buttermilk biscuit was divine.
The beignets were dense and better than in NO.
Ryan Cabrera
I tried every sandwich on their menu except the seafood one. Omg the chicken and the breakfast are a must have.... That biscuit they make is on another level of heaven.
Benjamin Freesmeyer
My wife and I were celebrating or honeymoon in the big apple and saw the good reviews. They Do Not Disappoint! Delicious chicken sandwich and po boys. They even gave us a free order of dumplings (which were also delicious)
Definitely would like to come back in the near future!
My Duyen Coleman
Cute little sandwich shop in the Lower East Side. The Chicken Biscuit sandwich is the best. The biscuit is perfectly crumbly with the right amount of red cabbage slaw. They fry the chicken right in front of you and the store is usually manned by a charming guy. Definitely a place to check out if you are looking for a quirky spot to grab a bite.
Keith Baumwald
I'm a big fan of Cheeky - the fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit is great as is there Po'boy. This is a little LES hipster joint with interesting people coming through that all look like they work at the influx of surrounding art galleries in the area. Sandwiches are a bit on the small side for the price but they are super tasty.
July
These sandwiches are amazing. The overall environment is also great, it's sort of a small spot but definitely worth it. The service was impeccable. Be sure to get the doughnut holes for dessert!!!
Joseph Wendt
I first want to say that the place is a bit of a mystery to find, which if you've been to New Orleans, seems like part of the appeal since many of the best spots in Nawlins' are tucked away with no indication on the outside that there's anything going on inside. SO, initially, I thought the place had gone out of business since it didn't look like there was a business at the address. Anyways, the food was delicious but it really was the staff that made the visit so memorable. They were so friendly and welcoming. As I was the first one in that day, they were still firing up the stove. They made sure that I knew how much time it was going to take to make my sandwich and beignets. I had the Shrimp Po Boy, which was superb. It's very close to the kind of Po Boy you would get at a shop in New Orleans. The beignets were delicious, probably the best ones I've had outside of Cafe Du Monde. They also gave me an extra batch of beignets since it took "longer" than usual (again, probably because I literally came in 5 minutes after they opened so totally not their fault, but I appreciated the thoughtful gesture). I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
Kathy Nga Ting Ho
Friendliest service, memorable eats, opened at early hours, and the best vibe. The chicken biscuit was sooooo flavourful and amazing. Coleslaw and gravy, sandwiched by two buttermilk biscuits. Absolutely delicious!!!! The Ben-Yays are 3 for $1, served warm.
Justin H
I'm cajun and a friend of mine showed me this spot. Good food with a taste of home. The beef sandwich was on point!
Ken
Little hole in the wall place. Pretty decent food at decent price for the city. Tried a half shrimp half oyster po boy. I never had an authentic po boy from New Orleans so I can't compare. It was definitely tasty though. I liked the shrimp better than the oyster. Oyster felt a bit dry and chewy from being fried too much. The beignets and chicory coffee were ok too.
Melissa Augusto
Pretty good breakfast sandwich and chicken sandwich, kinda bummed they have a D food rating(it not that hard to get an A rating, you can have like 20+ violations and Still make the cut)Makes me wonder... Hopefully they get their food rating up and I’ll feel more comfortable going again.
Sean Greenberg
Super cool little spot, careful you don't miss it. Sandwiches are excellent, chicken biscuit is best I've had. Whoever is working the counter is likely to chat with you about anything if you like. Prices are good.
Andrew
A hole in the wall. Super friendly staff. The closest authentic Po-boy I've had since I've been to NOLA . Crunchy on the outside like cotton candy on the inside. Fried shrimp and oysters that are crispy but not greasy.
Charlotte Lau
Delicious
Herrick & Masha
The chicken sandwich with the gravy on the biscuit is great. I didn't expect it but the bread pudding was amazing, very moist with a slightly caramelized crumble top! Yum
Joel Kasparian
Sweet Mary and Joseph the food here is good
Jvon Alexander
Having great food is one thing but the vibe and service is top notch. Always feel good after leaving this restaurant. Did I mention how good the chicken sandwiches are. 5 stars all around.
Tony Moh
Amazing hidden gem in the neighborhood! Their seafood sandwich was delicious, and came with a free beignet; Will be sure to stop by again.
Ajani Oloye
Solid sandwiches, decent prices, and friendly employees. Over the course of two visits, I had the chicken sandwich, and egg sandwich, beignets, and coffee. Everything tasted good to me and I had nothing but pleasant surprise experiences on my visits.
Michelle Kaewchandee
Fulfilling sandwiches! Tried the chicken & pork, would definitely come back to try them all. Absolutely friendly staff. My girlfriend & I were treated to a dessert on the house. Coming back real soon.
Marshall Shaffer
Tasty biscuit with chicken and gravy, although the slaw was left on after I explicitly asked for it not to be. Leaves a lot to be desired on cleanliness if that’s something of concern for you — no visible trash can, and the restaurant boasts a C sanitation rating.
Joanna Wong
Delicious sandwiches for low prices, all around $7-$10. Fries chicken biscuit sandwich is a must-have! Only downside is service is a bit slow at times, especially with a large group.
Bryan Glover
Love this little spot. Visited for the first time today and had the chicken sandwich and the ben-Yays. Both were delicious. Loved the peppery gravy. Can't wait to go back and try the Grass sandwich (and more ben-yays, of course).
Abby Huston
I’m a vegitarian and their veggie sandwich is so delicious and well priced. It’s like a banh mi loaded grilled cheese for 7 bucks. Also the guys who worked there were so charming in a respectful way, I wanted a date after ordering XoX
John Doe
I like this place. But it doesnt taste the same when certain people are making it. It was good first three times I went then started tasting ehh
Alisha Aguasanta
The PoBoys here are amazing and the vibe is laid back. The place is very easy to miss because it's basically a hole in the wall. Luckily every time I visit there is space for me and a friend. Bathroom is gross so go elsewhere. LIterally 4 stars only because of how yummy the food is.
Hannah Schiller
Amazing little hole-in-the-wall w New Orleans vibe. Delicious yeasty beingets. Great sammies. Kind staff. Chicory coffee is hard to find in the city, so that was nice (if a bit weak).
Sharon Kapitula
This is my favorite biscuit in New York. Cheeky’s is a tiny hole-in-the-wall storefront, but completely worth the wait. They have a delicious selection of southern breakfast sandwiches, I would hop off the F train to grab them on my way to work in DUMBO. Best in the summer where you can take the sandwich to enjoy on the tables in the little park between Forsyth and Chrystie streets. Be warned, it’s extremely tight. If crowded, it’s easier to wait outside to avoid jacket smelling like open kitchen.
Humza Ahmed
Had the chicken sandwich and oyester/shrimp mix poboy, Both were delicious.
Great atmosphere as well, felt the friendly southern atmosphere
Brent Samaha
Born & raised in South Louisiana and now I live in the lower East side. If I crave to taste home, I come here. Their poboys and breakfast sandwiches are great.
Wendy Carter
The sandwiches here are really good and the service is always great. I would recommend you try them out if you want something really good to eat.
Kurama Cat
Wow! Amazing sandwiches and the staff was so friendly. Small but they do a lot with the space. Cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
brany bernal
"I love my sandwiches. No matter where I am, I am always on the lookout for a great sandwich shop, at an affordable price. Try the chicken sandwich, it is to DIE for! I love how affordable this place is compared to other places, but they don't skimp out on taste. Their buttermilk biscuits are so warm, and tasty, and soft! I feel like they make them fresh daily.
I like that this place is one of those hole in the wall gems that you normally wouldn't think is great, but it is!
Definitely one of my top sandwich spots to check out when you are visiting.
Don't pass this place up, it is definitely worth trying out! Give it a shot! You will not be dissappointed!"
Clayton Root
Quickly became one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Incredibly delicious sandwiches and extremely kind staff.
John Wellington
Superb chicken sandwich at great value! It's the biscuit (cheese scone type thing) that makes it. The guy who served me was really friendly too.
Arron McCrory
This tiny shop has BIG flavor! I'm glad I ate dinner here. The fried chicken bisket sandwich was so fantastic, it was worth walking in the rain to get.
Jeff Yablon
Perhaps the single ugliest food serving space I've ever seen, so much so that you might wonder how a board of health inspector wouldn't be predisposed to shut them down. IGNORE THAT. A really tasty sandwich at a great price, along with really friendly people. Yum!
Eve Hu
Nice hole in the wall (we were hunting for it and still nearly missed it) sandwich shop -- really enjoyed the fried chicken biscuit gravy sandwich bomb. Saw the chef/owner on Chopped a few weeks later!
Graham M
Super tasty sandwiches. Chicken biscuit is fried to order. The brisket sandwich is amazing. Don't try and split these sandwiches they are best enjoyed whole!
Ruipeng Li
Pretty decent chicken sandwich, slightly pricey. About the service, the cook was nice. The dude at the counter was rude. Maybe some people think it's a good "vibe" but a hard no for me.
Jay M
This place is one of a kind. Probably the best and most unique chicken sandwich I've ever had. Also, the staff is fantastically friendly. Great stuff
Stephanie Yung
Our first time here, we got the beef and the pork sandwiches. The pork was a thick slab of chop put between two thick slices of bread. Not much except slivers of cooked onions and apples but it had a lot of good flavor in it.
The beef was big in comparison with huge slices of challah bread. The piled up shredded beef was tasty but the horseradish sauce definitely shone through.
Their benyays were interesting, hard/crunhy outside, soft bready insides with almost an alcoholic/almond taste?
You get a nice big thick slab of bread pudding. It's super dense. The outside edges and too is hard yet gooey, the best part imho. The middle is softer and very tasty. FYI no raisins in this bread pudding... disappointing for some, delight for people that hate raisins.
I enjoyed everything i ate and will love to try the other sandwiches!
Update: their chicken sandwich is pretty bomb. The chicken had a nice spiced outer crust, tender mear inside. The biscuit is big, soft and buttery. They're super generous with that gravy; it's so thick i'd have mistaken it for mashed potatoes, yum. The tang from the crunchy slaw inside gives it a nice balance in flavor and texture.
Lisa
HOOOOOLYYYY SHIZZZZZZ.
Having come back from NOLA, I felt the flavors of LA slacking. Things needed more salt, more spice, more BAM! Upon my NY vacation, I walked into this gem. I love how low key everything is... With the ability of being able to walk in and walk out without a fuss.
There are vegan options but the star is the chicken sandwich. It is simple. Unassuming. But oh so bomb. Imagine the crisp fried texture sandwiched in between flaky Biscuit layers. The best part was the Cole slaw as it offered a contrast to the heavy flavors.
And yes, do get the beignets. And if you've never had nawlins coffee, try some here or at Blue Bottle. I personally grew up with Cafe Du Monde coffee so I didn't get it. I want to go back!!
Phillip Van Nostrand
Great food, obviously! Interior and exterior are totally grungy, and that's probably intentional. It's a no frills lower east side establishment. Real deal with the sandwiches. Super tasty
Barred FromLife
Offerings are good for a quick breakfast or lunch. Lines are pretty crazy here as this is a hole in the wall kind of establishment. Would have been better if the price was just a tad bit lower but overall still a good sandwich.
Eve Chou
This gem is great. The fried chicken and biscuit sandwich is amazing. The chicken is tender and has great flavor. The biscuit is flaky and buttery. It looks small but it is filling.
Karen S.
It was like I was on a scavenger hunt for the perfect N'awlins sandwich. All the way to Chinatown with its nondescript storefront.
First off, I didn't know what to choose. All the sandwiches sounded great. But as I usually do, I hadn't eaten all day, so I needed something beefy. Braised Short Rib, spicy horseradish sauce, arugula, cherry tomatoes, on buttered & toasted challah bread.
AWWWW SOOKIE! Guy behind the counter asked me if I was from New Orleans. For a second, I thought I was. That sandwich almost had me speaking in tongues.
Of course I couldn't leave without trying the Chicken Biscuit. That I took to-go with an order of Ben-Yays... the teeny tiny babies of beignets.
Okay, I'm going to be honest even though it'll make me look like a complete pig. That Chicken Biscuit didn't even make it home. So good. Spicy, perfectly deep fried chicken breast with crispy slaw. *Groan* Good food is always accompanied by sex noises.
The location is out of the way and there isn't much desirable seating (oh there are benches aplenty, but more decorative than useful). But I will make the effort to return. The guys behind the counter are just too friendly not to see them again.
Wesley Morales
Amazing sandwiches, excellent vibes
Alex Sassoon Coby
Very well camouflaged from the street, but worth the hunt.
Look for the logo in the small glass pane above the door, then order the beef sandwich. Could have done with more horseradish for my tastes, but still delicious.
John Bingham
Delicious, amazing customer service, will definitely return
Michael Mishler
ridiculously good. best sandwiches i’ve had hands down. and the cashier gave us free deserts, thanks dude.
Taylor Pasquariello
I love a good neighborhood spot where the staff makes you feel welcome - food was delicious too! Please open up for late night soon!!! :)
Anthony Rodriguez
New Orleans inspired food. Po’boys and chicken biscuits etc. Very easy to miss this place if it's your first time. Great food, but seating is cramped and limited.
Raffi Asdourian
One of the most laid back and hip sandwich spots in LES, this unassuming cafe offers some food made with love that harken back to New Orleans street food. Reason alone to venture out to this spot is their unbelievably delicious fried chicken, covered in gravy and coleslaw sandwiched inside a moist, fluffy buttermilk biscuit (shames Empire Biscuit). Their beef sandwich which consists of braised shortrib, horseradish sauce on cherry tomato challah bread is an equally tasty counterpunch to their chicken. Add to that fresh beignets costing...hold your breath...3 for 1 dollar and you have one of the best value meals in the city. Also the guy who runs the shop might just be the nicest guy on the planet so be sure to tip generously as its clear he pours his heart and soul into his business.
Bottom Line: This is a well kept secret for residents in LES but it's so good that it's worth a trip out there just to try their chicken!
Casey Fahey
This little hole in the wall punches way above its weight class. The Chicken is simply off the hook and the Beef is a perennial fav. The bomb.
As we say in Hawaii: "Broke da mouth!"
Patrick Reno
Just like everyone else said. Excellent chicken sandwiches. Service friendly and on point. Can't beat the price. Definitely coming back often.
Siobhan Gregg
Such a random little sandwich place. Has a really cool, funky vibe. Had the fried chicken, and it was so delicious!!!!
Can't wait to go back.
Jennifer Wen Ma
Amazing sandwiches, sweet and friendly staff, and shabby-chic decor, just the best for the neighborhood. My favs are "grass" and "chicken" sandwiches. And the bread pudding is to die for.
Henry Begler
real chill dudes. i've gotten free beignets 2/3 times i've been here. the chicken sandwich is good but the shrimp/oyster po boys are the bomb.
Becky Markovitz
Friendly staff, fast service, and AMAZING sandwiches! I tried the beef and the sea and I highly recommend the beef! It was tender and juicy with the right amount of kick from the horseradish. Mmmm!
Maria del Pilar Chacin

Neighborhood tip: It’s easier to eat with a fork and a knife

EXCELLENT customer service. Uber delayed pick up. So Cheeky Sandwiches proactively reached out to deliver it themselves.
Food was amazing too.
Karen Ruhleder
This place was a lucky find. I had a delicious vegetarian sandwich with roasted beets, butternut squash, and goat cheese. You do have to look carefully to find the door.
Thach Ho (Taco)
Small, hidden sandwich shop. tiny menu, but great food! Sandwiches are served on a honey biscuit and all the ingredients are of high quality. Very yummy.

Location was a little hard to find. There wasn't a visible sign, had to look down and see that it said cheeky sandwiches in front of the door. Food, expecially the biscuits, were very delicious.
Mikolaj Kegler
Glorious chicken biscuit. For only 6.5$ you get wonderful biscuit filled with juicy chicken, gravy and red slav. This is definitely one of the best deals out there!

Sandwiches are small but great taste and you don't feel like you've ate an elephant… I also unexpectedly got a serving of fresh beignets — which was, of course, awesome.
CD Torre
Great small comfort food in really (really) small digs. Staff was incredibly friendly. The restroom (shanty-style outhouse) takes a little getting use to.
bobby goins
Limited menu but everything is good. Great spot off the beaten path. The owner made my sandwich personally. Highly recommend!!!
Jessica Strand
Friend chicken sandwich was bomb! I had to take the cabbage off because it tasted and smelled like it had started to spoil. Otherwise it was so good

A quirky spot, which I always stop at when I'm in the area. The chicken sandwich here is fantastic and priced reasonably. I love the funky decor and the energizing rap playing over the speakers.

We love this place!! Fantastic sammiches and warm service. Our go to almost every Wednesday!
O Diana
This tucked away, incognito shop serves only about a handful of items, all of which involves fried-something with out-of-oven-freshly-made-biscuit. Def come here to try their signature sandwich, which only has a few ingredients, and be sure to leave an hour to two afterwards to get over food coma, but sure is worth it!
Carlos Vans
Best sandwich I had in town. Definitely coming back when I'm in town again.
