Combo large sub - half pepper beef, half pastrami / 5 🌟! Giamela's is the place to go if you want a huge, tasty sub that is 85% meat. They have been around for a long time and I've been enjoying them every few months since I landed in Los Feliz over 2 years ago. I recommend eating it fresh. I ate in the restaurant and there is so much juicy meat that the sub bun was already getting soggy. I ate this masterpiece of a sub after a 12 mile hike and it was perfection.

I'm a fan! The pepper steak sub is the way to go here. If you never had it make sure you try it! All the others subs are good too but the pepper steak has so much flavor and it's loaded with melted cheese and diced pickles and onions. My friend and I also tried the pastrami pizza which we both agreed was bangin'. If you come here make sure you're hungry and ready to eat. Make sure to call in your order or go with plenty of time since it gets busy during the lunch rush.

Giamela's is a childhood favorite of mine. My mom used to bring my sister and I here all the time. I pretty much love everything on their menu. Their pizza is so good. Tonight I got a 6 inch meatball sandwich with extra c peheese. It was very delicious. The meatballs are seasoned perfectly . the tomatoe sauce and cheese go together and make the sandwich complete. If you haven't tried Giamela's . You definitely should .

This place is great for sandwiches and also for pasta I've never tried to pizza but I wonder is good as well I've been to this one and to the one in Burbank. The customer service is great the food is great the difference between the one Los Felix is that they take cash of credit and the one in Burbank is just cash but they're both places are great and the one in the Felix have more priority than the one in Burbank other than that great place to have lunch or dinner or pick up if you want to eat somewhere at home or anywhere the only thing I have to say when you're outside and you park in The Lodges be careful cuz there's a lot of like homeless people that try to see what they could get but other than that is is great great place to have lunch

I can honestly say that giamela's makes the best sandwiches. A great sandwich starts with great bread. And I have not tasted better. I am Italian and tell you that the spaghetti and lasagna are better than most Italian restaurants that cost double giamela's prices. Been going there over 10 years and never had a bad food experience.

I love Giamela's and stop by when I'm in the area, which isn't very often. The Pepper Steak Sandwiches are the best Hot options. I also enjoy their Sausage and peppers and meatball subs. The cold subs are high quality as well. The sandwiches come in medium and large and the difference is usually 1 dollar and some change. If you get the large, you'd be able to save half for another meal. The Pizza is good, not the greatest, but good enough that I've come by to get it again. The Pizza is decently priced and isn't too saucy. They sell it by the slice or whole. All food is subjective; my wife usually doesn't like the places I tell her are good. ... She LOVED the pepper steak and cheese (Ask for extra cheese)... Sooo many onions. As for the pizza, she said it was good, but if (STRONG WHEN) she were to visit again, it's all about the pepper steak sandwiches.

Giamela's on Los Feliz never disappoints. My go to is the pepper steak, always delicious! Take a long bike ride on the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk if you're feeling guilty about the calories.

Good subz and pizza. Not a fan of the way they cook their pepper steak. They add water while cooking, so you don't get any char on the meat. It's more like boiled meat. Update: They did some remodeling. Most of it is exterior.

I am not a fan of their pizza only because the dough isn't very good but I like their spaghetti and ravioli which are accompanied by garlic bread (like the pizza, the bread isn't great either) and soup or salad which are both very good.

I've been coming here for more than twenty years! I can't believe that for the longest time, they did not take credit card...really! That drove me nuts! But, at least for the last 10 years, they've been taking card, making it much easier to order from them. I always the pastrami on a soft hoagie with mustard, onions and pickles. I love how they cut dice the pickles and onions. I always dig how they add carrots to the side. The pizza is really good too. I really like the 50's feel and look to it too.

No frills, down to earth Italian deli restaurant. The star of the show is definitely the pepper steak sandwich, but even the veggie sandwich is surprisingly good for a place that leans 96% meat based. You really can't go wrong with anything here. Unless...unless you decide to go big or go home and order a half pepper steak, half pastrami pizza. It's too big, go home. Can food be camp? This pizza would like to make a case for it.

it was my first time dining at giamela's today and i ordered a large italian cold cuts sandwich. in my opinion, it wasn't worth the price ($11.95). the salami and mortadella was only 3 slices thick throughout the sandwich. my meal was mostly bread, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. this will be my first and last cold cuts sandwich from here. my friends each ordered a pepper steak sandwich and got about five-times more meat on their subs. at only 30 cents more than a cold cuts sub, go with the pepper steak. that's what i'm ordering the next time i'm here. such is life

Staff is friendly. Food portion is great for college students. Ordered the lasagna and a pepper steak sandwich. The lasagna is a tad bit salty for my tasting but that might just be me. Soup that comes with lasagna is very hearty. The pepper steak sandwich was great.

I ordered something unknowing which image is what and thought that the pepper steak was the one pictures on their website since they aren't labeled as to what we are looking at. Thus in my mind I thought they had gotten a little bit cheap since I expected chunks of steak that was chopped to fit the sub and not thinly sliced beef. I can't even tell it it's got pepper on it like the picture showed. But due to the lack of knowledge of this place and not ever eating there my expectations that were given to me by word of mouth and the website now mixed with my personal experience of it. I suggest that you aren't ordinary from the restaurant and not over the phone using their website as a reference since none of the pictures are labeled with what they actually are. But next time I do order anything from them it's definitely not going to be the peppered steak. It's I suppose the cheese steak sub for something. But I wish eateries would label the images or post a post on them as to what we are looking at. Because as tasty as the sub still was, I would love to know the actual sub's name instead of thinking the pepper steak looks like the cheese steak.

Giamela's is probably the best place for subs in Los Angeles. I have been coming here since I was a kid and while there are a few less locations, the subs haven't changed. The pepper steak is their signature sub along with their meatball and pastrami. Giamela's offers other varieties (hot and cold) and also has pizza and pasta in addition to their sandwiches. Their subs are piled high with meat and their hand chopped relish of pickles, onions and tomatoes. The interior has seating, but isn't particularly inviting. The vibe is definitely basic. Service on the other hand is always friendly and cheery. Prices have been updated to the 2020s (they aren't selling $6 subs anymore) 😂😂 ...so yeah, prices are moderate now...but worth it.

There is a reason this place is always packed at lunchtime with the great people of LA, firefighters, cops, electricians or utility workers on a break. Just great subs and pizza. Love the sub toppings. And you can conveniently stop here on your way to the Dodger game, or the LA Zoo!

One of my favorite local sandwiches! For less than $15 & a 3 minute walk, I can get one of the best turkey sandwiches I’ve ever had. I know that may sound kind of boring, but the basil pesto mayo is my FAVORITE! I’m giving myself a break from meat right now and the main thing I’m craving is that sandwich. I kept seeing super epic-looking pictures of food from this place on Yelp and Reddit, so I finally did a pickup order one day and honestly, I didn't get all the hype ... the sandwiches were just OK. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but the sandwich I had was nothing like what the photos led me to believe I'd be eating. Service was also mildly sassy for no good reason. For the price, I don't think it lives up to its online reputation.

If I could give this experience of exploding flavors and savory pepper steak 10 stars I would. They cook the steak with red bell peppers in this amazing flavor of juices and top it with pickles, tomatoes, and onion's. I don't like raw onions so I don't get them. I've tried all three locations, Burbank, Sunland and Los Feliz and the Los Feliz Giamela's has the bomb pepper steak sandwich. The other locations are very good too so if your close to one of them do stop by and visit. Giamela's has a veriety of sandwiches and pizza and Italian dishes. I also tried the pastrami sandwich and it was very delicious too. My family fell in love with the pepper steak as did I and I will definitely go back to order many more. Thank you for the hard work and the amazing experience of your delicious food 😁

I haven't been to Giamela's since the covid 19 outbreak so I was thrilled to indulge my long strong craving for the Mr. G's !! The best sub EVER! Plus I got 2 meatballs w/o sauce for my pup! Their meatballs are made w/o onions so they are doggie safe! I will have the meatball sub next time! I have always loved getting Giamelas subs and pizzas to catch the direct bus to the Hollywood Bowl. Or.. Yummy goodies to take to the L.A. Zoo or enjoy anywhere in Griffith Park. 5 stars outta 5!

Had the Pepper Steak sandwich and it was giant! Could have used a bit more seasoning other than pepper as the presence of a ton of beef didn't translate to a ton of flavor. Also ordered the giant slice of cheese pizza and could easily tell it had been sitting for quite a while. I would still try them again to try other sandwiches because the menu had some tasty options

Average sub sandwiches. The bread/roll is almost gummy and the oregano in the vinaigrette sandwich dressing is annoying and not wanted (by me; maybe it's your thing...). The chopped-up-into-dice tomatoes tend to fall out of the sandwich. They also have some pizzas and pastas but I haven't tried them yet. Free parking lot.

Been going here for 14 years. They need some fresh offerings. Nothing ever changes. Consistent quality. I usually order the Italian Sub or Meatball Sub, or get their spaghetti and meatballs. They don't offer classic Italian deli sandwich sides for the sandwiches, just bagged chips. They're kind of pricey, but not outrageous. The best deal is a side of meatballs for $2.20. They don't know how to make decent garlic bread, and it's often stale bread they can't use for sandwiches. Overall very consistent however.

This place is delicious. We made an out of the way stop for this highly recommended place and it was well worth it. The sandwiches are huge. We got 1 regular meatball and 2 pepper cheesesteaks and they were enough to feed 4. The only suggestion I have is to make sure you get your sandwich with extra cheese, as I feel as though there isn't enough on these enormous sandwiches.

Italian cold cut with a bag of chips and one single slice serving of pizza. Cannot go wrong at this OG LA staple. Sandwiches are $10. Just make sure not to put the cold sandwich on top of the hot box of pizza. Enjoy!!!

People in my area race about the pizza. The crust was fluffy and chewey. The cheese quality was good. The pepperoni was not bad a bit salty but it's pepperoni or I'm getting older and my tolerance for salt is at a low. The pizza sauce was aweful to my taste buds. I bought a medium pizza. I ate two slices and gave the rest to my coworkers. No complaints there. The staff was pleasant. There is alot of traffic in and out which is a good sight. This place is a popular spot in the neighborhood.

Being a longtime Los Feliz resident I can’t count the number of times I have driven by Giamela’s and thinking I should try it. I finally did and I must say I will definitely be going back. Their Pepper Steak Pizza is one of the best pies I have ever had. Piled high with generous portions of meat on each slice, the large size easily satisfied three of us. Very fair price too. A quick glance at the menu board with a variety of hot and cold sandwiches also gives me the reason to go back. So glad I finally gave Giamela’s a try—I will definitely be back.

A cozy Italian restaurant in Los Feliz/Glendale area near shopping and Griffith Park. Family owned with multiple locations. It is clean, service is quick and the food is fresh and tasty. I was in the mood for a deli sandwich on my visit, but as I waited for my food, was able to see orders of spaghetti, pizza and salads delivered to surrounding tables. The portions for those items ate quite generous, the meatballs large. The roast beef and pastrami sandwiches were definitely Italian-style! The open faced sandwich was topped with pickles, tomato, lettuce and seasoned with Italian dressing, a side of peppers and carrot sticks. You may order sub sandwiches with cheese and onions, additionally, you can substitute mayonnaise and mustard with Red Bell Pepper Mayo or Pesto Mayo. The result is an interesting flavor sensation. Good place for a quick bite to eat and conversation.

Great mom and pop feeling sub shop. I always stop by when I'm in the area. It's located conveniently right off of the freeway. The sandwiches are Chuck full of delicious grilled beef and peppers. Then the melted cheese in the middle hits your taste buds. It's usually at this point that I remove the sandwich long enough to bite into a yellow chili. Then wash it all down with an ice cold Coke. Do yourself a favor and check this place out ASAP.

Great local spot for submarine sandwiches. They also have pizzas that are good and good at soaking up any alcohol. Side dishes are good as well but sandwiches and pizza are the hits. Seating available inside, but only a handful of tables. Also parking is scarce but business moves fast so usually in and out as far as that goes. Prices are a little on the high side but for Italian style food in the area is about average. Fountain drinks and variety of chips also available.

Peppers steak pizza is awesome, just tell them easy onions or you'll be scooping many off. All the pizza is pretty good.. Sandwiches are average my favorite is the meatball with no veggies. They pile chopped pickles on it! Have them 3 stars because they always take longer than they say. I've phone ordered a few pizzas before and arriving fifteen minutes later, they still hadn't put them in the oven.

Each handmade pasta and ravioli variety is worth trying. The owners are very sweet and you can tell that they put care into their product. I recommend the portobello ravioli, squid ink pasta and vodka sauce. You can freeze fresh pasta if you don't plan on cooking it right away.

Best Pastrami. I'm sure the rest of their menu is top notch, but I've never had call to try it. The pastrami sandwiches are so good. Order it with everything except cheese- don't like my pastrami with that. Place is a lil shabby and the counter lady takes call ins and manages the register. So the wait can be a bit long but the sandwich is so worth the wait!

They are known for their sandwiches though. Be warned a large sandwiches around 14 in and enough for two people for maybe two days. Skip Subway go here

This place is an Atwater Village must... the pastrami sandwiches are the best... pesto mayo turkey is also delicious...however... i do not recommend the meat lasagna it tasted like dog food without exaggerating... and it was expensive... can't believe they serve that because their sandwiches are good

Giamela's has been around since 1964! Whaaat! Service was fast and the portions were large. Prices were reasonable and chances are, you're going to have leftovers. That about sums it up. The food is okay. Lots of choices. Mmm...spaghetti and meatballs. Sounds better than what it actually was -- Two large meatballs in meat sauce over a generous plate of perfectly cooked pasta. Yep, the pasta was the best part. The sauce could've used some flavor. Everyone swears by their subs though. The large turkey and roast beef looked great and actually deserves to be called a sandwich. It was a considerable size and was packed with fresh meat and vegetables (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions) along with mustard and mayonnaise. Very tasty. Plenty of Italian options. Along with pasta and subs, there's also pizza. The place is on the smaller side and was crowded during lunch so come just before or after the mealtime crowd to find decent seating.
