Introduced by my best friend who lives locally. Ordered pretty much almost everything I saw, didn't quite finish everything but I was able to pack it in one container flew it back home and ate it and it was still delicious. Ever since then, everytime I visit, it's always a must to stop by and grab food in this hole in the wall joint. Great service and friendly staff. It's a small spot but the food always hits the spots, it never disappoint. 🤙🏾😋👍🏾

Everytime I'm back on the aina this is a must stop. This would be my first stop if only the hours of operation were a bit longer. Regardless I will always make it a point to stop in. Mitsu-Ken bento is my go to and garlic chicken musubi. With that said, there is only take out no seating (what your car is for). If you are walking there is a nice little wall by Bank of Hawaii you can sit and watch the cars go by. Lol

Great place to pickup a bento for a trip to the beach. If you’re in the mood for an okazuya, then you’ve found this gem in Kalihi. However, you need to go early or risk having items sold out. They were out of shrimp and vegetable tempura and chow fun when we visited around 11:30 a.m. I would’ve given 5 stars if they still had tempura and chow fun. The Mitsu-Ken and fried saimin bentos were reasonably priced ($8.50). The service was fast. Bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards. I visited again and got a mini bento for $7.00 the price of a larger bento is now $9.00.

Food was well prepared. The harlic chicken was the best, but the fried rice was average. The price point is hard to beat and the food is delivered quickly. If you're in a rush, then come here.

I only come here for the garlic chicken bentos or plates. So good!! They take card now too, but they will let you know that paying in cash gives you a discount. My only complaints are that they have changed their hours of operation to only be 4 days out of the week and also open later at 7am now. They still have their mask upon entry signs, but they do not enforce it. They should just take those signs down. I walked back to my car and lost my place in line to grab a mask when I didn't need it.

Got the mini bento here to go before heading to the other side of the island. It traveled well and was more than filling for the people in our group. We were glad we called our order in the day before so it was quick when we got to the front of the line. You stand in the same line regardless of whether you ordered ahead or not. They do take credit cards now but will give you a bit of a discount for paying with cash.

One of, if not THE, first meal I ask for when I get off the plane from being gone. Amazing prices, and absolutely to die for garlic chicken. Take all my friends here, always ask the family if they want when I’m in the area. Been coming here since they were in their old spot- probably been eating their garlic chicken over 20 years hahaha Chicken and rice is good enough for me, but a deluxe breakfast plate is a good fix for the hungry one! Or split between 2 or 3...side order chicken is so cheap, can just cook rice on your own, too!

Tasty, convenient, and my new favorite breakfast to-go! I came here with my niece and we both ordered the Breakfast Deluxe Combo. It contains the breakfast special which has (2) Scoops Fried Rice, (2) any style of Eggs, (2) Strips of Bacon + (3) pieces of Garlic Chicken. Most filling and definitely worth their prices. I also love that you can order additional Okazuya types of food like the Veggie Pancake. Super delicious!

They moved to a larger location since our last visit. The portions are larger too! The garlic chicken was on point! But the Mac salad recipe has changed a little and was not as good as I remember.

Doing a large office order is always difficult but Mitsu-Ken was great about it. Called in the order a day before; be patient if they don't pick up... leave a message and they'll call back to confirm. I arrived a few minutes early and paid. They were still making our order so it's great to know that they try to make the order as close to your pick up time so the food just wouldn't be sitting there. Everything was packed nicely and labelled. As for the food itself, delicious as always. Their breakfast is worth it... I can never finish it so I always end up saving half for another meal. Their garlic chicken is one of the best on the island so always pick some of that up!

The food is always fresh and ono.. counter staff super nice and the line.which is normal moves pretty fast. Pre covid menue's off the hook.. glad they are still open and have a limited menue..love the new additions ..specials are great.. parking is never an issue . Prices are very reasonable..Highly recommend take out restaurant.. its my favorite !! ..it be a 6 star if they had outside seating..😊 Made another visit and it was as good as before.. consistency is what its all about ! Good people making great food !

I remember this being slightly better. Got this right before we flew home. I remember the chicken in the bento boxes being slightly more crispy and the patties in the loco moco having a little more flavor. I literally compared every loco moco to this place. It had been about 5 years and maybe my memory of this place is slightly off... but it just seems like it’s not quite the same. Will definitely go back though next time I’m visiting.

Garlic chicken has sooo much flavor! Fried rice was pretty bomb too and it's pretty fast service. Why it's 4 stars and not 5, tight space with lunch rush, u cannot swap/mix and match meats and their hours of operation a bit random so kept going on the wrong days, they'd be closed

This is just High School Nostalgia right here. The set up might be a little different from the little hole in the wall on School Street but the Garlic Chicken is still just as good. Nothing beat running down the hill with some friends or getting there very early for the breakfast special with Garlic Chicken.

Crowded parking. Cash only. Crowds are very friendly and fun, but the people working behind the counter are little less so. They're stressed, I get it. Nowhere to eat. The counter is super tight. If you have a stroller, you are not going to fit in the door if there is a line. And there is usually a line. There is no ticket pull system. You just got to ask the people around there if they're the last in line. Do not try to cut in line. Because Kalihi. They do not answer their phone. There is no website. There is no email. This is pretty much as old-school as it gets. I am kind of amazed they even have a telephone there. The garlic chicken yes, is good. The meatloaf and gravy less so. Overall, catering is great & their breakfast specials and value are very good, but the knife fight to get there and the poor customer service and meager options when you order leave much to be desired. I like the food, hate the quest to get there. Meh.

Great local food!! Busy almost all of the time! So that tells you how good the food is! Props to them for turning out the orders rather quickly even as busy as they usually are. Prices are great too! Make sure to bring cash tho. That's the only form of payment they take!

Delicious garlic chicken! I think Mac salad is always kind of up to the person and their's was just okay and not my thing. Everything else was on point though. Plenty of parking, no line when I showed up for lunch. Now i'm sitting here full off chicken and wanting to take a nap.

Their signature dish is Garlic Chicken in a plate, mini plate, bento, musubi or side order. There are other items on their plate menu and okazuya section that are also good. I haven’t tried it, but they do take phone orders. This is a To-Go eatery; there’re no tables to sit and eat. Bring cash because they do not take credit/debit cards.

Mitsu-ken is famous for garlic chicken -- fried, with a garlicky sauce. This is not my favorite local-Hawaiian way to prepare chicken (I prefer chicken katsu or mochiko chicken), but my wife and son love garlic chicken, and they love Mitsu-ken' s version above all others. This restaurant used to be on School Street, not far from Damian high school, but they moved to North King Street, across from New City Nissan and not far from Love's Bakery.

This place is a must when in O'ahu. Go for breakfast and get their mitsu-ken bento that has garlic chicken, spam, and sweet egg! Their garlic chicken is amazing -- I could probably finish off a plate of just the chicken. The breakfast deluxe was also really good (Portuguese sausage, two eggs in style of your choice, bacon). I LOVE Hawaii's Portuguese sausage; it's not the same on the mainland!

This place serves some of the biggest bentos on Oahu. When a place constantly has a line out the door in Hawaii, you can safely assume that they serve some good grindz there. Both the breakfast and lunch bentos are a great value, and you most likely won't be able to finish it off in one sitting.

Love the food, there is a unique consumer culture going on, all food is take out, not much room on the inside so you need to be sensitive as to what is your place when you arrive, some people are waiting to order and some people are waiting for their order, it is best to ask someone if they have ordered already so you can ascertain where the order line is and where the end of the line is, just be considerate of others and your experience will be fine
