I finally got in there to eat today after hearing so much about this place and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The Philli cheese steak fries where amazing. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend trying this 0lace out if you haven't before.

For what it is, a counter service urban Philly sandwich shop, this place is great. Food good and appropriately salty. Soft drink machine with some issues. Nice lunch. House music is loud and explicit. Employees and family nice.

You have to try the Philly Cheesesteak on your first visit, but Everything is Great! The Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are “Life Changing” and the Burgers (I get the Bacon Cheddar Burger and Spicy Bacon Chicken Burger) are Awesome!

I love T-Bones, this is one of the best Philly Style Cheesesteak sandwich places around. It's simple, and delicious. The real down home atmosphere is great and the prices are excellent. Highly recommended. Just be aware that if you arrive at lunchtime prepare to wait a bit. Know this though, the wait is totally worth it. 6/4/22. Excellent 👍

I am from Philadelphia and grew up on cheesesteaks. T-Bone makes a very authentic tasting Philly cheesesteak. However, it falls short in two areas - Not enough meat. I ordered the large because I thought it was going to be large but it wasn’t. It was a regular size cheesesteak without much meat in it. I could have eaten two of them. I was just home last September and got a regular size cheesesteak that was bigger than this one. Also, the cheesesteak suffered from what I call a ‘southern’ thing, in that it was not really hot. It’s not a ‘Philly’ cheesesteak if it isn’t really hot. I do want to go back and try again. Maybe next time I’ll be able to change my review.

T-bone's makes a fantastic cheesesteak. I don't know what they put in their cheesesteaks, but they are seriously magical. I've been multiple times, always had a great experience. Service is friendly and helpful, it can be a bit slow at lunch if you don't call ahead, but the food is well worth the wait. I'm a fan of the famous on shrooms, but every steak I've had has been great. The salads are also amazing, huge with lots of veggies. And spicy fries are my jam. They are available on various delivery services (I use Waitr). They will deliver to my house, which is dangerous and amazing. Seriously, do yourself a favor and check it out!

This place was awsome. I loved my pizza philly cheese steak! It was huge with lots of steak and mushrooms. The fries were cooked just right. Crispy and soft on the inside. We planned on coming here sooner but never got the chance. Today is our last night in Birmingham and I'm so glad we stopped by. Demarius was behind the counter. He was very nice and all the staff had good attitudes.😁😁

Place my order at 11:03 am said 45 minutes to pick up. Ok great right. NOT! It’s now 12:39 pm and still no food. I try to support all businesses but this is just insane. Waiting a hour +for take out is unacceptable when you only have an hour for lunch. Will not be patronizing here in the future. Just got it and this is what they produced. NEVA AGAIN

As a South Jersey transplant I have had many good cheesesteaks, T-Bones hits the spot in Birmingham. Service was a little slow but was totally made up for in flavor. Fries cooked extra crispy and finished with salt and pepper. The downside they don’t have diet drinks and only 20oz fountain Pepsi products. Totally worth a trip to south side Alabama to get a good cheese steak!

Ok so im from Philly. Just moved to Bham a few weeks ago. I saw others posts on here about how good it is and that it's authentic. So i decided to try it for myself. I'm telling you right now. This is some of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. Better than most that ive had in Philly. If you don't try this place than you are an idiot. Will definitely return with friends here! Also, as good as the philly is...it’d be pretty hard to say the owner n whole team there aren’t EVEN BETTER than that lol. No joke. All the staff are super friendly and the food is great. I've eaten their a few times, my favorite thing to get is their cheese fries; tons of cheese and a really nice spice blend on top. Their cheese stakes are pretty solid too, only wish they caramelized their onions a tiny bit more otherwise its perfect. Atmosphere is unique, I love how they incorporated graffiti and maps of Philly in the decore. It can get a bit loud from time to time but overall a wonderful experience

Came from Shelby County after hearing about how great this place was. I was not disappointed. I was stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours getting back home. As soon as I got in my son and I tasted our sandwiches (without heating up) and the flavor was on point, tenderness was crazy soft and after 2 hours of waiting to taste this sandwich i had zero complaints! Let me tell you, this philly cheesesteak was the BEST DAMN SANDWICH I ever had. It was seasoned to perfection, the cheese was melted with meat so good. The bell peppers, the lettuce, the tomatoes were excellent. This is definitely my top spot in the Bham area as of now. The area has no parking so keep that in mind, however there's paid public parking around the corner. If you're in downtown drinking or partying you definitely want this sandwich.

This place is unique, but the food is just like the deliciously greasy delicacies found in the tri-state area of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. I absolutely loved the Amoroso roll-sheathed cheesy meaty goodness that is the Famous Philly Cheesesteak... it's prepared perfectly on a flat grill. I loved it. You will, too. If you don't, hey, it's a free country; you can be wrong. I'm definitely going to be back and looking forward to trying one of their hoagies and maybe the Cheesesteak fries.

This is the only Philly place that I have found to best Fat Sams old joint. The cheesesteaks are melty with generous amounts of meat, cheese, peppers, and mushrooms. The sandwiches are so packed that the contents literally spew out when you unwrap it. Everything is made fresh to order and never frozen. This means you may wait for a while but it is worth it. The bread is buttered and crisp, not stale and not too soft but just right. The atmosphere is also great. Upbeat music plays in the background and comic posters adorn the walls. The menu is also an electronic menu. You can tell that the owners have really taken the time to make every aspect of their restaurant stand out.

I really enjoyed my visit here. The food was fantastic. The girl at the register was so nice and made suggestions and small talk. We got our food quickly and man it was to die for. I think it was the best philly I've ever had. The fries were so good! I will definitely go back anytime I'm around Birmingham. I also will always support a business that defends themselves. Ever since Covid people feel like they can just belittle and degrade anyone in the service industry. Everyone was working so hard and I appreciate them just being open. I didn't have to cook my own food for lunch that day and I'm thankful.

The meat is tasty and the bread is nice and soft. It is 12” but the sandwich was skinny so it’s not a big sandwich but for a steak sandwich of this quality the price is very fair. I ordered a steak and spicy fries. The sandwich itself is an easy 4 star. The fries I don’t know because I never got them because they ran out. That’s perfectly fine as things happen. Where I think I was pretty generous with the overall rating was the end result of service. I looked at my receipt and placed the order at 7:49. I ended up getting my sandwich at about 8:50. Only reason my rating isn’t a 2 star is because it looked like the work crew put in good effort. Not sure if this is typical wait time. I know it’s tough in the food industry now with labor but if it takes one hour to make a cheesesteak the owner and/or manager need to find a way to fix it or disclose approximate wait time when people walk in. There are TV’s with advertisements along with the menu that they could use or buy a digital display clock with approximate wait time. Will I give the place another whirl…, maybe months down the road. The cheesesteak is solid but from my experience it’s not worth the wait.

Hit the place at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and ordered: small Tony Montana, Cheese/Ranch fries, and a bacon/Cheddar burger. The line in front of us caused a wait but almost 30 mins for the above was a bit much as evidenced by a couple who ordered well before us complaining about the time for 4 cold sandwiches; Next time I'll call an order for pickup. The hoagie was good and presented quite well. The burger, I was told, was a sure bet for a return trip, the fries were cheesy (throughout not just on top) and the special seasoning dropped on the fries was delicious.

I ordered lunch yesterday and came back tonight for dinner.!!! T-Bone's is SOOOOOO yummy. I placed my order online both times and the food was ready when it said it would be. I lived in philly for a few years and am down in AL for work. T-Bone's definitely taste like I got it in a Bodega in philly. I got the philly egg rolls and the famous philly. The best Philly sandwich HANDS DOWN!..... in the worst possible establishment I've ever entered. Absolutely NO ONE talks to you, but you do get yelled at for no mask. There is zero communication and zero customer service, but the sandwich is the best ever. Like, I've been to Philadelphia. This sandwich is better, but you're gonna have to deal with the horrible lobby situation first.

My husband and I love the food. Everything we try is delicious. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because it's nearly impossible to place anorder over the phone. We have to drive nearly 45 minutes to enjoy the food, so we would prefer to call in our order, but it's always hit or miss. My husband and I decided to try t-bones after I was craving a cheese steak and turned to google. Because of covid we have seen more and more small businesses close and because of this we have tried to support local businesses as much as possible. We were thrilled to find out this is a one of a kind and black owned business. The atmosphere is super unique and the staff was efficient and friendly. We were impressed to see how busy they were even at 2:30pm. They are currently not allowing dine in but we waited inside for our order. Not only do they require masks but the staff were all very vigilant about enforcing this policy which we very much appreciated. We traveled the 20 minutes home to enjoy our food in the comfort of our kitchen. The fries were a little soggy but that’s to be expected when you do not eat them right away. This is not at all their fault but more of a product of circumstance. The flavor was AMAZING! My sandwich was pretty darn perfect (likely the best we’ve ever had and my husband doesn’t generally like cheese steaks). Overall the was an excellent culinary experience and we cannot wait to be able to enjoy their spectacular food in their establishment someday in the future. Well done T-bones so happy to see a great business thriving during these trying times.

Oh my goodness! This is a must go to restaurant if you’re anywhere near Downtown Birmingham. We don’t live close, maybe 20 minutes away, but we made the drive for dinner take out. It was completely worth it!!! We will definitely do it again. The food was outstanding! Even after driving 20 minutes home. My husband even took his leftovers to work that night and said it was just as good as it was when we ate it earlier that night. There are not any restaurants in the Birmingham area that can even compare to T-Bone’s Philly Cheesesteaks sandwiches. Not a single one!

Best Philly cheese steaks ever period! When I first ate here in 06 or 07 I became hooked, and I've been eating here for since. If someone asks what's my favorite restaurant I always answer with T-bones. His food food is way better than anything I've ever had at subway, firehouse, or Quiznos. It's cheaper than theirs, got more meat than theirs, and a hell of a lot more delicious! So in conclusion try it out, fall in love, and help make this a franchise. The world would be a better a place.

Never bought food here that I didn't absolutely love but the excessive wait though. Still the food delivers! Would five star as usual but it's getting old to have to stand in the "forever" wait line. Went to T BONES to take home.. they only allow take out still. They get A+ from me. Everyone HAS to wear a mask and if not they have them there for $1. Someone cAme in without a mask and was told their policy.. so he bought one!! Food was delicious too

Food: Got a chicken philly with onions/peppers/cheese. Yummy and moist. The large was enough for my husband and I to split. Staff: Didn't have a lot of personality. They were focused on getting the food out not engaging the customers. When we realized a minute in that we forgot to specify chicken, they immediately corrected it. Location: Parking was a bit of a challenge. - as I guess it is for all businesses downtown. The restaurant had a dingy/greasy vibe. Bathroom was stocked with just one roll of tp at a time...but that's not the only place on our trip that had just 1 small roll...didn't know we were still having a shortage.

First of all, I wanna say this is the BEST Philly place you are going to find in Alabama. It is completely authentic. The guys behind the counter were extremely polite and provided prompt service. The food was great. My boyfriend got the large Pizza philly and it was large enough to pacify him. I enjoyed my philly as well. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the seating area. It was a little sticky feeling like the tables needed a good wipe down. It wasn’t bothersome for us, as we ordered it togo. With the COVID pandemic, not many people are dining in. When things ease up, I would suggest making sure dining area was cleaned up a little bit better. But regardless of that, the food was tasty and promptly cooked. The service was great. We love a polite person behind the counter! Would definitely come here again the next time visiting Birmingham.

Wow! How have I not been here before. I have been looking for a cheese steak place for years that could rival a real Philly cheese steak. The hoagies are amazing matched with the best seasoned fries. The counter staff is super friendly, which you won't find at real Philadelphia steak shop. The seating area was clean and has a good view of the goings on out the window. I will be back!

Do NOT go during lunch time. You would think that with a big grill and 7 people working the grill, the fryer and putting together plates that things would go rather quickly. And you would be wrong. One guy there told me he had been waiting 45 minutes. I waited 30...for a 6 inch "famous" (which is just a regular cheesesteak) and fries. It was good, but not worth waiting 30-45 minutes for.

Amazing! Okay, I'll be honest if they hadn't been right next to my hotel I probably wouldn't have stopped in. There were fries outside scattered on ground. There seats were very worn and need to be reupholstered. Now if you are willing to look part that and actually try it you will be in for a delight. The food was well beyond what was anticipated. It actually seemed to melt in your mouth leaving you to look down at your empty box going where is more! After reading about T-Bone's online, we knew it was a place we needed to check out. It certainly did not disappoint. I had an original Philly Cheesesteak, my wife had the T-Bone steak cheesesteak and my daughter had the cheesesteak fries w chipotle aioli sauce. We also got a side of fries w cheese and ranch. It was all absolutely delicious, made right in front of us so it was nice and hot and fresh. We both ordered the 6" sandwich and it was more then enough. I highly recommend stopping in and getting yourself something delicious from T-Bone's. There is currently no dining in allowed so either call ahead or just stop in like we did, order some food and take it to a park or like we did, up to Vulcan Park and eat there. We will definitely be back, so many different delicious items on the menu, it was hard to just choose one!

First of all, let me go ahead and note that this is a business of a certain type that often has some of the problems I'm going to mention. If you don't know what that means and what tends to come along with that and/or are unbothered by it, let me just go ahead and say that this review is 5 stars. If food was all that mattered, then T-Bone's is some of the best eating you can get in the area. Definitely the best Philly Cheesesteak to be had within a good 250 mile radius as far as I'm aware, and I tend to look for places to grab one when I travel around. For that matter I'll go ahead and say that they're probably the best in the state. So then why 3 stars? Let me explain. First and foremost, the business hours listed? Ignore them. They mean nothing. Whenever the workers feel like it's time to stop taking orders and close, is when they're going to stop taking orders and close. Listed closing time for a weekday? 10pm. What time will they actually close? Typically somewhere between 8:30p - 9:45p. Depending on how the workers feel on any given day. If you pull up at 9:30 while 6 or 7 people are already inside placing orders and they've decided to close, they will literally leave you outside and occasionally look at your like you're crazy. For that matter, hypothetically, even if you wanted to try to be courteous about the disregard for listed business hours, you can't. Issue number two? Somewhere within that 8:30p-9:45p window, and sometimes before, they wholely cannot be bothered to answer the phone. There might only be a whole two people inside waiting on orders with nothing else really happening, but if they don't feel like answering the phone, they won't. Even if they do answer it, there's no guarantee they'll take your order. Just for experimentation purposes once, I tried to call in an order around 8pm just because it was one of the rare days where I'm not still at work at that hour. Surprisingly, someone answered. Unsurprisingly, I was put on hold. Somewhere between surprisingly and unsurprisingly, I was put on hold for 45 minutes - about the length of time it took me to just drive there - and of course when I got there, outside of the one other order being worked on, there was a whole lot of nothing going on. Surprising actually because T-Bone's tends to stay busy. Once again, the food is great. That said, as has been hinted at already, issue number 3 is that the service can be pretty bad. At least at the hours I most often go. Go there when T-Bone himself is there and you'll have a fine time. I've been lucky enough to go a couple of times and talk to and see the master himself at work, and it's a whole different operation when I see him out front. Most of the time when I go though I don't see him, and it's a complete roll of the dice what it is that I'm walking into. Most of the time I'd say it's decent enough. Not particularly friendly, not particularly rude. Just... gets it done. That said, there's often an air of "I'm sick of working for the day and ready to go home" that is fairly easy to assess just from attempting basic conversation, so at this point I do somewhat tend to just leave my pleases, thank-yous, and how-are-you's at the door. On the rare occasion I get someone using a friendly tone or that acts as if they won't feel attacked if I ask them how they are or "how's it going," I'll make the effort, but it generally doesn't happen often. With that said, this review is long enough. There are some other fairly common occurrences that I could break down, but I think the point has been made. So here's the TL;DR of the matter. Go. Go at least once. Order half the menu and realize that it's probably some of the best food you're gonna have in a lifetime. Discover what a gem of a place T-Bones is. If you're not saddled with non-typical work hours like I am, you might not have to deal with all of the issues that often come with the last few hours of service. I don't go as often as I want to because I don't want to deal with the hassle most of the time, but the food is always worth it when I do.

This place really gives off a down home vibe, from the atmosphere to the interactions. I ordered A T-Bone Cheesesteak and Cheddar Ranch fries. I Really like the fries they did not become soggy like most fries become when you add toppings. I like the bread it was soft but still had so pull to it. If you order a sandwich and fries the drink is free. The food is made to order so you do have a wait depending on when you go. They have a delivery service they use. Overall it is a nice spot with character.

I'm in here every other week grabbing a sandwich when I have a time gap in my schedule. This place is the hole in wall for philly's in Birmingham. The food is on point and the service is quick. Only gripe is that the one booth is the only comfortable place to sit, you're better off getting your food to go or standing at a table then trying to sit at one. Pretty small complaint in the grand scheme though. Best wishes to the crew until I find myself back in there grabbing another sandwich and fries.

Ordered through DoorDash. Food was really good, or I expect it was when it made about an hour before we received it. Fries were obviously cold and the sandwich had soaked the bread, which was also cold. I went in with my boyfriend planning on not eating, because I am a vegan. When the cashier asked for my order, I declined and explained my veganism. The cook in the back overheard and said he'd make a sandwich special for me, and he did not disappoint! Also, the Spicy Fries are some of the best french fries I have ever eaten in my life. We moved from the Philly area to the Bham area in 2018, and have been searching for a cheeststeak ever since. We were told about T-Bone's by my cousin, who was visiting from out of town, and she said it was great. COVID put a damper on us going out to eat for months, but we finally ventured up to the city specifically to satisfy our cheesesteak craving. We were not disappointed! This place is fantastic! 5 stars isn't enough! We chatted a bit with the owner, and found out he was originally from Philly, which is why he knows how to make the perfect cheesesteak. I even tried to talk him into branching out a little farther south, maybe somewhere between Bessemer and Vance, exit 100 or 97 would be perfect! I can guarantee we'd be there every week for our cheesesteak fix. Now, if only he could get some Turkey Hill iced tea (the original flavor with the dark yellow lid), it would be the perfect meal. :D We will definitely be back as often as we can (it's a 45 minute drive with no traffic, so a bit too far to go frequently), and we'll make sure to try everything on the menu. This place is a little taste of "home" for us. Thank you for putting a smile on our face to match our full bellies.

I really wanted to love this place. The owner was so attentive and polite. They asked how we were several times. I just wasn't a fan of the food. We got 2 original cheese steaks and I'm used to provolone up north so I wasn't pleased with the white American and it's sharpness. I grew up in South Jersey and spent a lot of time in Philadelphia so I definitely know my way around a Philly Cheesesteak. In addition to the fact that the food is outstanding, the staff is awesome too. We called in an order like 20 minutes prior to closing which, as people who worked in the restaurant business, we know that’s basically a “no no.” I know the kitchen is trying to close down for the night, but the guys didn’t skip a beat and our food was ready to go and delicious. I've been looking for a great Philly cheese steak in Birmingham ever since Eddie's closed in Inverness quite a while ago. Well, big news...the search is over! It's not quite Eddie's but not far...and close enough to head to Five Points when you're in the mood. As with all good Philly steaks, it starts with good meat cooked well, which T-Bone's has. Next, the right bread is a must...good texture, not thick and heavy. Finally, melted white American cheese slices (not Cheez Whiz!) finishes the core ingredients. Top it off with grilled onions and/or bell peppers and you're ready to go! The only reason I'd give T-Bone's a 4 rather than 5 rating is the atmosphere in the restaurant. It's a tired, worn interior with no ambience or charm. Just a grungy dive with great food staffed by a group of workers who seem glad to be there and committed to delivering good food and service.

One word: correct. Have had cheesesteaks in many cities including Philly, and places recommended by people from Philly. This place has everything right. Let's start with the fact they use Amoroso rolls, then the amount of meat is not stingy, finally they use white American cheese! A 6 inch philly with some spicy fries really gets it done for lunch sometimes. The bread is always very soft and the cheese and meat always has the right melts consistency. I have been trying to find a true Philly cheese steak since I returned from my visit there. Tbone's is the real deal. I drive 40 minutes to get there and it was worth it. They make the meat to order so it isn't fast food. If you are in a rush then call it in. It is worth the wait. I got the naked with shrooms and the famous Philly to go. I asked for extra meat (because Charley cheese steak in the mall goes light on meat) but T-bone's was very generous so the extra meat was almost too much, but I didn't mind at all. The meat and cheese blend perfectly and holds everything together so it doesn't fall apart. They don't do the cheap chezWiz sauce so it is much better. The bread is exactly what you get from Philly and is perfect. There is a perfect blend of spices that captures the real Philadelphia experience.

Closest thing I’ve head to food from New Jersey/Philly since moving back south. Tony was super friendly and the staff was getting after it. Had lunch and dinner here over the weekend. I had the Vitto, a perfect Italian hoagie. The Phillies were all great (we had the regular and green pepper). No need for any Whiz!!!!! We also had the jerk chicken salad, full of flavor. To finished we had Philadelphia Italian water ice, it was money. The atmosphere was fun. Classic music playing in the back, you can see the line work being done, people flowing in and out the entire time. Very happy we had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy this gem in BHM.

Hands down the best Philly Cheese in Birmingham. Been visiting them for years, from when they were at the Highland, then out in Trussville, and now so tantalizingly close in 5 Points. Only came in here to feed a homeless man. When I walked in, all the people there were really friendly, and they were playing Rage Against the Machine(a favorite of mine). Usually people are really mean to homeless people, but the guys were very polite to him and treated him like a regular paying customer. This is a small, unassuming restaurant in Five Points South is basically 30 covers & the grill – almost everyone gets take-out. Of course I ordered the Original Famous Philly with Shrooms, sautéed Onions, White American Cheese and Mayo. The Hoagie Bun is soft and fresh. And the sandwich is perfectly balanced with the cheese mixed through and quite exceptional. T-bone (Anthony) himself is at the cash register making sure everything is perfect. Next time I definitely want to try "Disco Fries" - also T-bone thanks for the recommendation on the hotel next-door (stay on the 7th Floor).
