I bought an '18 Chevy Volt from CarMax. It took about 4 weeks to deliver to Wisco from Cali. The delivered it right to my driveway, which was pretty awesome. When it arrived it had a cracked windshield, dent, and
a big scratch on the door. Carmax repaired it all for free, and gave me a rental for free while the work was being done. Then I got an inspection done at a Chevy dealer. The vehicle needed new front strut assembly for both tires. CarMax paid bill in full.
I was super upset with CarMax at the start, but they certainly won me over. I would definitely buy from them again. Thank you Kurt!

After selecting my vehicle, I was approved for purchase, went into Milwaukee location and met a wonderful salesman, Damien C. who walked me through the process of signing my documents and drove off an awesome vehicle. The sales rep person was awesome Very down-to-earth and knew his business about cars. I don't have any problems finding somebody who can finance my vehicle. Dre offered me to keep the vehicle overnight which made me feel more comfortable. The next day the closing went smooth and easy not like it used to be, I think we close within 45 minutes to an hour.

This was by far the best car selling experience I have ever had. The online assessment was easy and smooth. The appointment process was seamless. Very friendly staff. Nate was phenomenal with the wrap up of all the paperwork. If you want easy car selling I highly suggest Carmax. Lot was stocked with cars so I'm sure buying is equally as efficient.

It started a little rocky with my title not being there when I first arrived, not entirely anyone's fault. I arrived early, FedEx guy was a little late, but they were willing to top me off with gas for the trouble and just as I was getting ready to leave the FedEx truck pulled in. The rest of the test drive and purchasing was easy and hassle free. And everyday I walk up to my 2020 Honda Civic ST I still can't believe it's mine. I'm so in love with it!

I bought my last car with CarMax in December 2020, right after a terrible car accident that someone hit me in my driver's side at 66 mph, and totaled my Honda SI. I was scared to even drive again and the thought of buying a car was not exciting at all, from previous experiences, but they were wonderful and I did everything online, credit, down-payment, purchase and all.
This time I'm trading my car in and finally getting my Subaru WRX STI Limited!!!
I have nothing bad to say about this company or their customer service; which isn't always easy to do!

Purchased a vehicle from CarMax a few months ago. This'll now be the 2nd time I have purchased a vehicle from CarMax. Each time, they have gone above and beyond to ensure my purchase experience was a good one and if not, took the right steps to make it right. I purchased a vehicle from CarMax a few months ago and had a few concerns regarding the vehicle. The sales rep assured me that they can take care of it post-purchase so I went thru with the purchase. Weeks later, I tried following up with the sales rep, and all of a sudden, all agreements made before the purchase were off the table (it seemed) and the sales rep didn't want to follow thru with their end of the deal/agreement and told me to reach out to the manager if I wasn't happy. A little upset and annoyed, I reached out to the manager and explained what was agreed and the manager then went on to reassure me that it will be taken care of, going ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure the agreement was upheld and followed thru with everything without delay or dragging their feet. A few weeks later, my concern was addressed I am extremely grateful and appreciate Carmax and especially, that manager (Justin K.). This definitely will not be the last time I purchase from CarMax and Carmax will be my top choice to choose from when buying a new car.

My husband and I moved here in July and our beautiful 2008 Chevy Cobalt died proudly in our new city. It was meant to be and so I had the idea to take advantage of this wonderful business and so I did. The process of getting a car was so easy because of these wonderful people who attend to you so closely and so well the moment you step into the building.
I met Melissa Marie as she was our sales lady for our now beautiful 2013 Ford Focus. She was so very laid-back and was very knowledgeable of everything that we needed to do that day. This is just a great dealership that really pays attention to their customers. She kept us informed all the way and never stopped even after the purchase.
Unfortunately, I had to take the car back to the car service at CarMax, five days after the purchase. The car was just acting not quite right and I was a little tense at this point because the Chevy, which gave us 6 great years, was just a problem vehicle from day one. Anyway, my tension was immediately erased from my system from when I met, Kurt. He is a fantastic mechanic and stayed with me the entire time the car was in the shop. It took about 2 weeks but that was because he was severely booked but he didn't keep me out of the loop at all. He even took the car to Ford because of some electric issues and they were able to replace what was needed. Kurt deserves an award for being so kind to a crazy, irrational, white lady who was crying and swearing at her husband the day that she came in. I was never treated as such because Kurt and the others in there, kept me cool, calm, and collected. We have our 2013 Ford Focus back and it drives better then ever. I'm so very grateful toward Kurt. If you want someone who will have your back and stand by your side the entire way, ask for Kurt. He is your man.

The few clerks that dealt with the paperwork were backed up. It took over an hour from the time I was presented with a price, until someone came out to complete the transfer.

Great experience overall. I brought my vehicle down to get appraised to sell to them. Appraisal took about an hour, which was a bit long, but it was very busy. Offer was within market range, and a bank draft check was offered on site. Returned the following day and sold the vehicle, took about 30 mins.

i was really pleasantly surprised by my entire carmax "experience". test drove several different models to figure out which car fit me and my family best, all with zero pressure from anyone at carmax. figured out which car we liked, but was unable to find inventory with the trim package we wanted, so i didn't end up buying from carmax. i did sell my current car through them, and it was also a fantastic experience - the online quote was no problem, and they actually ended up buying the car for the quoted offer, for a much more fair value VS what the dealerships were offering. highly recommend carmax.

2nd time I've purchased a car at this location. I worked with the same sales rep. I didn't like that she skipped a few steps a long the way. But in the end I understood why. Getting into the business office to sign your documents can often be the longest part of the process. I'd complete financing online and had my insurance locked and loaded. So with an appointment right at open, she was pushing me through to be the first in the business office so I wouldn't have to be there for hours. And it worked. From the time I walked in the door to the time I drove off the lot I was only there about 45 to 55 minutes. And with a 30 day return policy, I can take it back if I don't like it. So needless to say I was very please with my experience in this trip.

Both the appraisal process for our old vehicle and the test drive and purchase of our new vehicle was the smoothest process for buying a car I have ever experienced. We received a surprisingly high offer for our old 07, $500 more than the dealership offered us. The associates were helpful and quick. The next day, we received a phone call saying we had to come in and re-sign some paperwork that was lost/deleted. They were very flexible on when, and offered us both a tank of gas and 100 towards their service center for their mistake. Good customer service saved the 5 star review, despite the mix up.
Week later edit: we had to return and re-sign everything because they deleted our e-signed paperwork. We came back in, signed everything by hand being told "sign here, sign here..." they gave us a tank of gas and some service coupons and we were on our way. On the way home, they called my wife and blamed a missed signature on me, when I was told exactly where to sign. They are fast, but not careful enough.

Was told they sell a car every 2 min so why bother offering any new car incentives. I appreciate the ease of purchasing a car but a little dignity would be nice.
The service department never returned my call about some scratches and malfunctioning on my vehicle. Will be trying to follow up for the third time today.

I've bought 2 cars from Carmax, great place to buy. I went to purchase another about 2 weeks ago and every time I was about to sign for the car the price kept going up. I told them the monthly payment budget I wanted, by the time we were done, the price was $177 over my max budget. I felt like he wasn't even listening to me, I ended up leaving without the car. I may go back in the future, but for now I will keep looking. Nice cars, service could be better and don't let them talk you into something you can't afford.

The 5 stars this time is specially for this white gentleman in the repair shop. I believe he was husky build.. Others didn't check the enclave as they Said but he made sure to do a quick drive of the vehicle and went out of his way to go get the part and fix it within an hour or so. Extra great customer service in the repair area also from The regional manager; he tried to accommodate us also... to make things right for us...Think his name was Justin. I was told by my new car lease salesperson that I could sell my older car at the end of that lease. I was unaware that I could do that. I thought I just had to turn it in. I did an appraisal check with CarMax and Carvana. CarMax was higher so I took my car to them in Milwaukee, WI. They were very cordial and professional and efficient. I found that VW Credit would charge CarMax about $10,000 more than the residual amount owning at the end of the lease. This does not seem legal - I am an attorney and it think that should be challenged in court sometime by a lessee or CarMax. So, I paid the residual amount off myself and then sold the car myself to CarMax. I would recommend CarMax to everyone wishing to sell a car hassle-free or to buy a car. The experience with CarMax was very rewarding and easier than dealing with a car dealership. Thank you!

Tiffani was super helpful at the location near Good Hope. I originally purchased a car from the Tinley Park location. There were many obstacles that I had to navigate through at that location, but Tiffani helped me by calling and straightening things out. I had to return that vehicle because of all the issues it had. She was extremely accommodating and was able to help me return it to the MKE store and not the Tinley location. She and Dave helped me get a loner car until I was able to find the one I wanted.
The overall culture of the store is professional, patient, and accommodating. I would highly recommend this location.

The transfer of the vehicle process was HORRIBLE, never got a tracking number, and the check in quality check took a whole week (when each rep told me it’ll take a day or 2) - once the vehicle was cleared to go the salesperson and process was great. They didn’t overcome the issues that I had but I have no problems with how they treated me from that point on.

After seeing all the commercials, you’d never expect to have the experience depicted...but they are true. This was an amazing and true uplifting experience. I’ve never found an easier process selling my vehicle, was provided a solid and reasonable offer to sell the vehicle, and was fully supported and walked through the process by staff members. 100% satisfaction! The CarMax car lots always have a wide variety of cars and trucks, with fair prices that can fit just about any budget. Next time I’m in market for used car, I know exactly how and where to go. They are still in my opinion the best place to buy great new use car this my second vehicle I bought thru them the first purchase was 4yr. ago totally satisfied the first time around I'm good this time around except for I only received 1 key fob when it should have been two the replacement are $400 plus dollars hopefully they will take care of it or I'll return the car within the 7 day period you have to return the car no question ask, my salesman better get on his job and make it right. It's on my salesman that it's not 5 stars.

The reason for only 4 stars is because I believe they need a better system in place for financing. I had my car over 2 weeks before they called me and said that the finance company didn’t want to finance me. That is extremely inconvenient to a customer. I had to go back in and redo my credit app (29 hard inquires btw) and had to put even more money down to keep my car. That whole process is inconvenient to a good customer and is discouraging to do further business. Other than that, I love my car and the sales people are amazing. But something needs to be done about the financing process.

Carmax really makes the car buying process easier. They shipped the cars I was interested in for free and didn’t guilt me when I didn’t like one. The one I did like had a few scratches and they were quick to take care of it and make it look brand new for me free of charge. My sales associate Pakou was a life saver, she was very easy to communicate with via text or phone and she answered all our questions. At first, we were assigned to someone else who left us waiting 45 minutes and never showed up. However, when I asked Pakou by chance if she knew where that other employee was, she immediately said she’ll help us instead and we are so glad that happened. Overall great experience.

I was disappointed in how they handled my appointment. The person I was supposed to meet with had a family matter come up the morning of my appointment & could not be there, which is completely understandable. However, I was not notified she would be unavailable, nor did they transfer my appointment to another associate. Instead, I showed up on time for my pre-scheduled test drive and had to sit and wait in the lobby for 45 minutes before I was finally handed the keys because I initiated my second conversation with the front desk. Additionally once inside the vehicle, it appeared to not have been cleaned since the use of the previous owner with make-up marks on the ceiling, glitter on the steering wheel, & crumbs in the center counsel & back seat. You would think with COVID they would try to do a better job. I was test driving the vehicle with almost certainty of purchase because I paid to have it shipped here from out of state. So when I came inside to return the keys I stated I would like a purchase contract so I could find my own financing. The first purchase contract did not include all the fees (pointed out to me by my loan agent) so I had to request a revised one that included all the required information. At that time they told me the title to the vehicle was LOST & they wouldn't be able to make an new contract until it was FOUND. Almost a week later I finally got the purchase contract & was able to complete financing on my end. When I went in for the purchase everything finally went quickly & I was able to buy the car no problem. The woman I worked with was very nice & easy to work with. If it weren't for her there would be less stars.

I must say my experience with CarMax purchasing a vehicle was super sweet. I had to replace my battery within the second week but it still was hassle free. I actually took my vehicle to Autozone to have the battery replace but CarMax refunded my money. I hadn’t had my car an entire 30 days and it’s currently in CarMax care because all power went out. I was told they will have to keep it for 2 weeks which is a huge inconvenience to me however; I was put into a loner vehicle until then. I have waited to post a review until I knew for certain that CarMax was really going to be what they said they were. THEY ARE. We bought an expensive 6-year old SUV from them in July 2017 as well as an extended warranty (definitely get one of those). Within one week, both of our catalytic converters went out! They cost about $2,500 EACH to fix. CarMax approved our auto repair place to do it and paid for the whole thing since it was within 30 days!! Awesome!
Recently, we had two things go haywire. With fingers crossed, we asked about our extended warranty. No problem! They fixed both things there with absolutely no problem. We only paid the deductible.
I wish that life were always this easy. No one knows what a vehicle has been through before it gets to you. These people really back up their promises and make sure they stand behind what they sell. I recommend them completely.

I went in to get an appraisal for sale for my car. I had an appointment set for 1:00 p.m. I checked in at desk at 12:55. Nobody asked what I needed until 1:30. I was then interviewed and then told to wait for an appraiser to check my vehicle. I waited another 15 minutes for the appraiser to look at my vehicle. He did for about 10 minutes. I then had to wait another 15 minutes to get the actual quote. I brought my car in to be sold 2 days later and that side of the transaction went much faster.

The car buying experience was perfect but i had minor issues that needed to be fixed on the car before my 30day warranty expired. Id have to say this time around i had the worst customer service experience and i was always the one calling for any updates for my car. Toward the end i did tell a supervisor and he was able to make the experience alittle better. All in all a great place to buy a car but the workers, i feel need alittle more training on customer service and getting back to customers at a timely manner.

I still own my car I purchased through Carmax(2014 Chrysler 300)and am still extremely happy with it. Although Chrysler has some active recalls on it(Takada airbags anyone?) I can say I am very impressed on the condition after 3 years of my wife, son, and myself driving the car. There have been no major mechanical issues other than brake replacement which I thought came a bit early, but it was previously a lease, and I have since refinanced as Carmax was a bit high(almost 14%) but all in all very very happy with my purchase.
This was my second dealer purchase EVER as I don't trust car salesman at all(got robbed as a young man on a car deal) and I am 44 y/o. The first sales person was nice the first day but never answered calls after that and I thought....here we go again. Then I got a hold of Mike Holmes. He apologized for the other salesgirl and was very eager to help me and didn't have that high pressure/shark attitude other car salespeople have. He assisted in transferring not 1 but 2 cars from IL to Milwaukee for me to look at for free! Both were in really good shape but needed a bit of detailing(both cars had less than 30k). I had many questions because I researched these cars a LOT, and he had all the answers I needed. I ended up buying the second but, I did not buy the extended warranty and at no time did that change his attitude to which I was very surprised.
Carmax sets its prices a bit high to blue book, but they also don't sell as-is cars. I had a worn tire on the car I wanted to buy, and he switched it out to the exact same tire(brand new) and aligned the car before I made the actual purchase. The warranty for only 30 days is okay but a bit short. People get nervous they may get a lemon, 60-90 days wouldn't kill the company. I did like the 5 day no questions asked return policy though.
All in all it was a fairly painless experience(although my financing was a bit on the high side as I have little credit history) and so far I am VERY happy with my car.

I went to CarMax Milwaukee on the strong recommendation of a friend who had just purchased a vehicle there. I enjoyed the online search capabilities and found a good variety of vehicles, and it seemed like it was going to be a relatively pleasant, painless experience.
However, once I started working with a salesperson, I was less than pleased. He found a car he thought I would like at another location, which I was willing to look at, but I felt like he then pressured me to consider that one even when I came up with other options. Between the time we first communicated and when we met in person, I found a vehicle that was exactly what I wanted at another location. I texted him and asked him to put a hold on it for me right away. It was a Sunday, so I wasn’t surprised when he didn’t get back to me, but I followed up on Monday morning to make sure he saw the message. He responded and said he had put the transfer request in for the vehicle right then. We met later that day and got all the paperwork, financing, etc., finished for that vehicle, and I left anticipating receiving my new vehicle in a couple of days. Less than an hour after I left, he texted me to say that someone else had put a hold on the vehicle two minutes before he did, so I lost the vehicle.
Needless to say, I was angry and upset. I understand that mistakes happen, but this was negligence on his part, not a simple fluke of timing, because he hadn’t put the hold on Monday morning like he said he did - he waited until several hours later when I was sitting there with him. He never apologized or took responsibility for the situation. I found an almost identical vehicle at a further location and asked him to cover the transfer cost - he claimed he asked his manager and the manager said no, but I doubt he actually did.
I still needed a vehicle, so I called the manager, explained the situation, and asked to work with a different salesperson. He connected me with Mark Kolp, who was fantastic to work with. He made the process as smooth and painless as possible and apologized profusely for the other guy’s actions.
Just to add to the adventure, there was a mistake on the paperwork that I didn’t catch until after I took the vehicle home. Mark was very diligent about finding out what caused the mistake, and he facilitated the process so it was pretty quick when I went back to redo the paperwork. He apologized many times, gave me a tank of gas and a car wash when I went back, and provided me with gift certificates for oil changes - all just for the inconvenience of me having to come back and sign the paperwork again. That’s the proper way to handle a mistake (even someone else’s)!

Know what you want and research, of couse I checked locally first nothing then I checked CarMax I put in my options and many vehicles choices came into play. I took into account the year and mileage, and the options, of course you must pay the transportation fee up front but thats ok if you want it you pay for it, same as ordering online, except no refund so ask questions before you make final decision.

Donnecia, I believe that's how you spell her name, IF YOU'RE READING THIS I'M SORRY IF IT'S WRONG, but she put me into a beautiful 2016 Corolla. SHE is the only reason this place gets 3 stars. She is a 5 star lady. The facility themselves, however, no. When signing the documents, I was told they could send it to an alternate address. I wrote it down for them and all. They still sent it to the address on my license. I work out of town for months at a time and luckily the people at the address held onto it for me because it looked important. Carmax told me everything I needed would be in the envelope. I took it to the tag center and showed them everything I had and Carmax didn't list a Lein Holder. I told them not to forget to list them and they showed me where that slot on my paperwork was empty. So to the best of my knowledge I gave them the information I had. So they sent the title for the car back to the location I purchased the car from. Then Carmax contacts me and says I did it wrong and they need me to sign the title back over to them to correct it. As I have said before, I work out of town for months on end and I work night shift so I am barely ever awake during the day. The address I needed them to send it to is also in the emails from where they harassed me to get the tags done even though I was out of town for work because I didn't have the envelope of information on account of them sending it to the wrong place. If I was unable to have it sent to the correct address, they should have said so instead of taking my information. They can still send me the title transfer paper work if they took the time to look at the address I sent in the emails multiple times but even the lady who assisted me at the tag office told me the mishap in paperwork wasn't my fault and that honestly I didn't have to send It back. Now I know why they were so on my butt about me getting everything done, almost as if they knew they messed up.

Went to russ darrow honda first and they gave me a quote for my trade in on their website of 4300 to 6300. They offered me 4000 till I said something. And then offered me 4300. The car only had one key and they refused to give two keys because they said they worked with me enough by giving me 4300 instead of 4000 even though thats what their quoted trade in was too get you in the door but then originally offered less. Went to carmax and worked with Matt Gardner (excellent guy) they paid me 6000 for my car said it was in excellent condition and clean. Bought the exact same car there with 7000 less miles. It was a thousand dollars more at car max but made up the difference plus some with what they paid for my car and got a car with less miles. Oh and get this and you can call them russ darrow, CAR MAX GUARANTEES TWO KEYS WITH EVERY CAR!!! Will pass the word in the county I work for. Excellent experience at Car Max.

I will never shop anywhere but Carmax again. No haggling, you know what you're getting, and they stand behind their vehicles. We are still within 30 days and we are having an issue with the bolt so they are giving us a loaner car for free until it is fixed .. For free! They reimbursed us for a realignment we had to get done. Jeep would not help us at all even though we are well within the manufacturer warranty. Jeep tried to sell us a vehicle we did not want for 3 hours and said the vehicle we wanted at Carmax had did not exist. Carmax washed our car for free while we were there and has bent over backwards every time we go. I genuinely love the customer service loyalty they provide. Don't waste your time anywhere else.
