Honestly had a great time working with Micheal!! he was so helpful and didn't give up on me. the car I originally wanted to look at sold so he showed me the model up that I thought was outta my price range, but after talking number and thanks to the GM I got into my GTI that I've dream of being in at such an amazing deal. If you're looking to get into a brand new car and have a trade in definitely go see Micheal at Honolulu VW! I loved working with them and thank them for getting me into the car I wanted at an amazing Deal!

I had a fairly good experience. The people were nice and not pushy. But, before the purchasing the vehicle, I was offered little for my trade-in, which I turned down. This meant that, when I picked up the new vehicle, I had 2 cars to get back to my home. I was told by the sales agent that he or someone else at the dealership would be able to help drive one of the vehicles back to my house. The next day, an hour before I was meant to drive down to the dealership, I was told by the sales agent that neither he (nor anyone else at the dealership) could help me because they were "short staffed." This meant that I had to cancel my plans to drive down to the dealership. Instead, I had to catch the bus on a Sunday. In fact, to get to the dealership, I had to catch 2 separate buses and walk a mile plus to get to the dealership. This was particularly disappointing, especially given that I was purchasing an expensive vehicle. This is why I cannot give a better review.

Wen was great she brought me in and showed me a vehicle that was perfect and she did all the paperwork quickly and promptly. When I was filling out the paperwork she also kept my 5 year old occupied. I am great I satisfied. The financial management was very easy going as well was in and out in 1 day with my new car.

Last year I needed to sale a vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of the transaction. Nick was friendly and professional. We discussed my options and all the documents needed and to finalize the sale. We made an appointment and everything was handled promptly. A few days ago, I had to contact the dealership for a document. Nick answered the call and he remembered me. He requested and sent me the document quickly. I was very impressed. Thank you Nick.

Overall service was almost painless, from online scheduling to intake at the dealership, to notification that vehicle's recall service was completed and was ready for pickup, to pickup and having it washed - pleasant surprise! Also most important, Tiguan's transmission seems to be working a lot smoother - don't know if anything was done for it. Will be back for Tiguan's care, especially during the specials! MY FAVORITE DEALERSHIP! Ej is an amazing salesman ... I wouldn't even give him that title because he didn't "sale" my husband and I anything. He simply showed us the vehicles we wanted to view and lets the cars speak for themselves. He was very relatable, he made great conversation, and he assisted my husband and I to purchase our first family car! We even received a VW baby bib and Yeti! Ever since Honda introduced the Energy Green color, I've coveted a Civic in the unmissable shade. But 99 percent of cars brought into Hawaii are white, gray, silver or black, and I'd only rarely catch a glimpse of one, like my white whale. But when one turned up at Honolulu Volkswagen, I knew it had to be mine. And I would have gone to any dealer to capture this car. Fortunately, Honolulu Volkswagen turned out to be a surprisingly good car dealer experience, even though nobody really savors the car sales experience... especially the used car sales experience. But the operation seems well run, and part of a large and growing national corporate family that included several of Honolulu's larger car lots, including Honolulu Ford. I worked with EJ Sales (yes, that's his real last name), and almost entirely online for the first several interactions, from email to text message. I was able to get the car to the very edge of being sold entirely online, but of course I wanted to see and drive it first. EJ marked it as "sold" on the lot to hold it a day, for peace of mind.. even though I'm not sure there will ever be a line of people waiting to buy an Energy Green anything. The car turned out to be in spectacular shape, imported from Indiana by a military couple that had gotten pregnant and had to trade it in for a SUV. And the price was significantly less than a Civic that was a year older with more miles. Now, working with the "finance guy" is basically the boss level when it comes to buying a car. Don't get me wrong, it was not a short meeting. But Eric Mak was very transparent and patient and had the assured manner of someone who actually liked what he did. He got me a financing rate considerably lower than my own bank's offer, making the monthly payment low enough to tack on the extended maintenance plan. And I NEVER get the extended maintenance plan. As an added bonus, EJ said he felt the passenger seat could be cleaned better, and gave me a certificate for a (second) detailing, at my leisure. Now that I'd be going to Honolulu VW for regular maintenance, I was especially glad to see such attention to detail. Buying a car can be a nightmare. It wasn't exactly a light daydream at Honolulu VW, but it far exceeded my expectations.

Update to my review: still 5 stars, if I could give 10 I would, I went in to trade my Jetta and Brandon was more than happy to help me and get the exact vehicle I needed. Our family is getting bigger and Brandon helped me get a Tiguan for the perfect price. This place is amazing.

EJ provided an instrumental analysis on which year we should get for helped help us to decide on our new car. When it came to price negotiation, EJ was very respectful. He understood we were not rushing to get a new vehicle; we would get a new one only if the price were right. Before I received my offer, I told EJ I wouldn't get a car today. He was very professional, not showing any disappointment. Instead, he determined to try one last time to get the deal we were asking for. Also, he was very thoughtful to make a following up call after a week of purchase. I would recommend my friend to see him if they are looking for VW.

Josh, the sales manager, was very helpful and did what he could to give us the best deal possible before we even showed up to the lot. Gina, the sales representative, was very friendly, very helpful, and patient with us as we took a bit to find what best fit our needs and price range. Erik, the finance guy, was super friendly and even allowed me to bring our dog inside so she didn’t have to wait outside the dealership. Erik was able to get our APR rate lower than what we previously expected and that was incredible. All together it was a great experience, I will definitely recommend any family/friends/people who ask about my experience with VW of Honolulu to go to them and purchase a vehicle. We walked out of there with a used but practically brand new car still under manufacturers warranty, with super affordable monthly payments, and a APR rate that is in the single digits. I will definitely go back to them when another vehicle is needed.

My appointment made in advance was for 7:15 am, the first available slot of the day. My car did not go into a service bay until about 40 minutes after check-in; given that this wasn't a walk-in shouldn't the first appointment of the day be given prompt service, within 10 minutes of checking in? Other than that the work was performed in a reasonable amount of time.

FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE & FAIR!!! Honolulu VW - VW Atlas recent lease on 1-APR-20 EJ and Jeff made my recent lease transaction my best experience by far! My wife and I trade vehicle approximately every two years. I mention that because it means we visit dealership often. It's a pleasure when you find a dealership that doesn't mark up prices and play the typical dealership games of going back and forth trying to milk you for everything that can. My transaction literally went like this: -I called and spoke with EJ. -I asked for the numbers (payment and details) for vehicle a VW Atlas I saw on their website -Filled out credit app online -Gave me an approximate value of my trade -I came to the store, filled out the contract on an iPad and left in a new car 20 minutes later. Can't make this up. Highly impressed. I've leased an M4 from BMW (off-island) and tried to be in and out the door and it still took two hours. I don't want to set unrealistic expectations if you're a possible customer. I already knew what I wanted. I don't go on multiple test drives I just do research before contacting a dealer. If you don't know what you want, the staff seems extremely knowledgeable and can help you figure out your needs. I simply wanted straight forwardness and they conformed and provided the customer service that was required of my needs. Great leadership/management in this store. Felt very welcomed and their friendly personality was the cherry on top... more importantly, not getting the "runaround" and low balled was most important - because after all, this is a large transaction that most don't take lightly. Come to this location if you want to deal with good people, some aloha, a large selection of vehicles and fair pricing! ****FYI, I would not recommend Tony VW in Mililani - read my review to see why.

The attentiveness of EJ & Eric were exceptional. Eric remembered our first VW purchase in detail and made the difficult task of completing finance paperwork feel like a breeze. EJ is extremely knowledgeable about his brand and cars in general. He had us 200% sold by his genuine care for our family's safety and comfort. One word sums up my experience at the Volkswagen dealership in Honolulu, INCREDIBLE. The customer service, pricing, and everything in between was great. We bought a used BMW and our sales person, Livingston, was awesome. He was patient, knowledgeable, and really made us feel that he had our best interest in mind. I'm very picky when it comes to cars, but Livingston answered all my questions and if he didn't know the answer he would find it out. We were at the dealership for over 6 hrs and way after store closing but the whole time Livingston had a smile on his face. I'm a hard negotiator and Livingston and his manager Jeff were awesome. They worked with our budget and even though I did not get my ideal price, they definitely made an attempt and got it as close as possible, and in the end we were very happy with the purchase. Usually car dealerships have bad reputations for hard sales tactics, but I feel the Volkswagen dealership, especially Livingston and Jeff just genuinely wanted to make an honest and fair sale. They were very transparent, explained everything, and just made us feel that we could trust them. Every issues I had, and I definitely had a lot of issues, they took care of it. For example, the rear lights were not lighting up, I wanted a second key, etc, they were happy to accommodate. I definitely give them full marks for customer service, accommodating customer needs, car selection, and pricing. I definitely recommend the dealership and look for Livingston! He has a warm genuine smile that makes you feel that he's really there to help you.

Very good experience since the beginning. Brandon reached out regarding my online inquiry. He is very responsive but never pushy. He is very knowledgeable about the inventory when I was communicating through text message with him. During the test drive, he introduced all relevant features of the car and honest about the things that he needs to double check. We ended up getting the car we tested. Great experience overall. Nice amenities while you wait and for kids too. Clean show room and relatively fast when you talk numbers with them. Again, Brandon has been super helpful during this entire process. We live very close to the Tony Group VW and actually scheduled a test drive there first. But the experience was terrible... I would recommend this one over the Tony one a million times.

He is absolutely nothing like the typical "salesperson" you'd expect when going to a dealership. In addition, the finance manager, Erik Mak, was direct and patient while providing me with all of my financing options. I was in contact with Jeffrey for about a year after deciding to buy a Volkswagen Golf R but he said they were still waiting on one to come in. He kept in contact with me throughout the year. When a new shipment of very limited Golf Rs came in, Jeffrey notified me, but I had already changed my mind about getting one. About 6 months later, I was browsing online and noticed a nice used gray 2015 Golf R was listed on their site. I contacted Honolulu VW and Jeffrey got back to me right away. He also kept me updated on the progress of my car as they detailed it. Everything went smoothly and was painless for my first time buying my own car. Had a follow up appointment today with a much higher level of satisfaction so updating based on todays visit. - First of all, everyone I encountered was very friendly. Checking in for the appointment was seamless, easy, and very positive. In addition the a ‘check light’ and engine issue, I was also in for two recalls. I dropped the car off around 720 or so, then about 7 hours later got a text that my car was ready to be picked up. Considering that there was some diagnostics that needed to happen to figure out what was causing my issue, I thought for sure I would get a call to discuss options, but I didn’t. When I came in around 415 to get the car, it took about 15 minutes for them to find my paperwork, which is a super minor inconvenience, but I was surprised to learn during check out that one of the big issues I came in for wasn’t really addressed, I was under the assumption that it would get repaired. The issue was diagnosed though, and the advisor read to me, out loud, what the issue was, but because she had read so quickly (and also due to her face mask and the plexiglass) I have no idea what she said. I had to interrupt the check out process to express to her that I thought since it’s one of the primary issues I came in for that it would be fixed, but her response was that the ‘gas cap’ is out of stock (the bigger issue seemed to be the N80 purge valve needing to be replaced). In addition to the above, when I got home and was able to thoroughly review the paperwork I was given, I noticed the results of the Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection which seems to have some significant findings and recommendations – none of which were explained to me or even pointed out to me during check out. There are no estimates associated with the recommendations and since I’m not a mechanic I don’t know what most of it means and they all seem pretty serious. I pre-ordered a part (gas cap) so that it can be replaced when the N80 is also replaced but honestly I’m hesitant to come back. Though the staff I interacted with were both very friendly, the checkout process seemed rushed and dismissive with no communication between the time the car was dropped off and the time I got a text that the car was ready to be picked up. Also, the day after my service we called for a price quote on replacing the tires and getting an alignment. After a couple of calls the individual said they would call back with an estimate. More than 24 hours later I've still not received a price quote (or a return a call)

I went in for a safety check on my vehicle that was shipped from the mainland. It was easy, breezy, and comfortable. While I waited, I was able to watch TV in the lobby, with the option of even having control over the remote to change the channel. There was also coffee and water for guests. Solid experience in comparison to a previous dealership I visited the week before. James contacted me right as soon as I sent in an inquiry. He was determined to give me as much information possible first before suggesting to come down to the dealership, which was totally opposite from previous experiences where I felt pushed to come down even if I was not totally interested yet. At the dealership I had the same response. Didn't feel pushy at all like previous dealerships and I felt James was trying to give me the best information for me to make the best decision for myself. I was even allowed to leave and come back on a different date, unlike other dealerships where they basically made me think I'm regretting walking out the door. I have had nothing but outstanding service from Honolulu Volkswagen over the past 2 1/2 years that I’ve owned my Golf. My battery needed to be replaced recently. As part of their multi-point check, the technicians identified a slight problem with the ignition assembly and replaced it as a warranty item. I was not aware that it was a problem and was grateful that it was identified while it was still under warranty. This could have been easily overlooked as it was not the issue that I came in for. The service department is thorough and really cares about the owner. I had to have my car towed in. They were able to take care of the problem within hours. That is great service. Service agent Jessica Balles is a real gem. She is professional, efficient, personable and treats you like family. She updated me with what was happening with my car through the day. I feel that service doesn’t get better than this.

Everything went smoothly, I actually went in thinking I was going to get financed through my credit union but the manager I spoke to (I believe his name was Eric) was able to offer me a better rate so I ended up going with theirs. I had been looking for a car for some time now and I found a 2014 VW Jetta online on the Honolulu VW website that I really liked, so I inquired about it and was almost immediately contacted. We were able to set up an appointment and they helped me with any questions I had about the car. When I was going to the appointment I thought that I would just be looking and not going home that day with a car, because, well, this would be my first time buying a car. When I got there I was literally immediately greeted (like as I pulled up to the front) and helped by Livingston who turned out to be my salesman too. I was nervous but he walked me though everything and was very helpful, answered every question I had and even threw in some floor mats for me (yay). He turned out to be such a good salesman that I ended up going home with the car that same day. Everyone was extremely nice and friendly and I had an amazing experience there. After buying the car I found two bags of beef jerky and a pad in the glove box, absolutely comical. I love my car and so far it's going great. The only thing I hate is that there are roaches in the car (yikes) but that's solvable so I guess it's okay. All in all I'm happy with my car and I'm glad I went with Honolulu VW :)

The entire staff from the front desk to the service dept gave me excellent customer service, even thought I was interested in a used vehicle that was not even a VW. I looked at their used car inventory online and called to make an appt to visit the showroom. I spoke with Jeff, the sales mgr, and he had me meet with Emma, in sales. From the moment I got there, I felt welcomed By Jeff and Emma. Very nice and clean showroom too! Waiting area with ample seating and water/coffee. Emma brought the car up front for me to look at. After I looked over the car, I had some mechanical questions, so Emma brought over the service mgr. He was very straightforward and went over the inspections they do on all the used vehicles and went over items that might be of concern. And at no time did Emma or Jeff ever pressure my to buy. When it was time to make a deal, sat down with Jeff, and he offered a very fair price. I made a fair offer myself and we closed the deal. First thing I can say is that this place is honest. We were helped by Livingston, and we originally went in to look at cars we had saved online. Only one was still available, but he found another car listed incorrectly on their site and suggested it as a great deal. Even with my skepticism I gave it a shot and he was right, the car was great and even below the lowest kbb value. Overall good experience. Bought a 2012 GTI pretty easy process. They made sure I understood everything. They told my I should sell my old car myself even though it didn't benefit them. There was a lot of waiting for paperwork and what not. Then at the end. The sales man drove my old car home for me. Great experience. Would recommend.

The quotes I was initially given for several repairs, however, were outrageous. Absolutely was too high. Almost insulting. After a long day of already bad experiences, he was calm and let us lead our buying process. That alone set the tone for the entire night. He had no issue with us taking the time to look at the lot and looking inside each car that we were interested in. There was never a moment of pressure to do anything we didn’t want to, which relived so much stress from our shoulders. We admired his consistent patience and kindness. We had a quick and easy awesome deal for a GREAT car. Everything throughout our process with Kyle and the other people of that location was just so positive! Kyle alone went above and beyond to make sure we had the exact car that we wanted. He even went as far as to bring in a specific car for us. The location alone is cleaner than any of the 6 dealerships we visited. On top of that it felt like we were at a coffee shop hanging out with a friend. The ONLY take away from this experience was the slight lack of care from the detailing department. The outside was washed and buffed but the inside was just lightly picked up. The carpets weren’t vacuumed in the back and the tires still had grime all over them. More than a days worth of driving could cause. But that was all stuff we can just fix up on our own and wasn’t a big deal. Overall 5 out of 5

The car detail (cleaning, waxing, etc.) took awhile but the car looked immaculate when it was ready and they gave us both some free merchandise too. Thank you!

We wanted the lowest trim of GTI, and it was arriving off the boat late that day. We had to come back later for it, but it was washed and ready for us to close as we had already test driven and just wanted to drive this one to check it quickly. No other fancier models available, but this one had everything we wanted in a GTI: nice styling and design, great acceleration, nice mats, good leg space in front and rear seat, decent space in trunk, small. We had a Prius for 11 years, so it was hard not to go with another Prius, but the 2018 designs were so hideous, it made it hard to ignore when getting a new car. The 54-58 mpg of the new Prius outpaced most cars except for electric ones, and the great gas mileage almost made it possible to overlook the ugly Prius interior design, digital panel and lame interface. But in the end, we decided to go for a gas engine and German design. Since VW has a 6-year/72K warranty, it addressed my main concern of repair costs and what-if-it's-a-lemon. Again, buying a Prius (on the mainland), Servco would not honor our warranty when we shipped it here, which was frustrating. (VW's warranty goes with the car, even if the owner transfers.) When we arrived at VW's dealership, someone quickly found Livingston (sales), and he was easy to work with as other Yelp and Google reviews noted. He helped us trade-in our old car, as well as do whatever he could to keep the price at bay. He wasn't heavy on sales pitches, but he did figure out we were going to buy and tried to smooth the way for that. Erik Mak in Finance got us through payment quickly because of his expertise. It would have helped if he had talked us through a fast summary of each paragraph that we were signing. That would be my only critique. Otherwise, he was also easy to work with, efficient, clear, and not pushy about products or other offers. I really liked that, and how he was all business since it was late. Livingston has continued to help follow up with a number of small details, and he greets me any time we come in to VW or call for some help. I can't say I like to be at a dealership, to buy a car, or to deal with salespeople, but this was about as pleasant an experience as I could have hoped for. Many thanks to Livingston and to Erik!

So this is my first time trying to buy a car and I've been doing my research on other SUV brands such as: GMC, Buick, Cadillac and Acura but I always had my eye on Volkswagen. I mean their advertising is everywhere and they are very personable on reaching out to customers about what promos, incentives and rebates that were going on every month. So I thought, "why not, just take that first step." I test drove the RDX, XT4, Encore, Terrain but I didn't like the feel or look of them. Plus the deal specials were not all that special. As soon as I stepped into VW I felt that fun, family-like atmosphere. So welcoming and everyone had smiles on their faces like they truly enjoyed being there. I was welcomed by Sage and Justus. They were very friendly and I ended up working with Sage. Who I thought was THE best salesperson. So informative and helpful throughout the entire process. I got to have a chat with the GSM, Mark Sherlock, and GM, Angela, of VW which hardly ever happens when you are trying to buy a car. Mark really hooked me up with an awesome deal that I couldn't refuse especially because the trim level I desired, was an SEL Premium with 4Motion, only had one color in stock. Red. Which I truly did not want but now it has grown on me. Eric Mak in finance was great, made the entire finance process so easy and simple. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience at VW. I have been a customer of Honolulu Volkswagen for about three years or so. I came to Oahu with a 2015 Golf GTI that I was very fond of. Honolulu VW did a good job taking care of the 20K and 30K maintenance and a couple of recall items on the car. Some dealerships throw in random fees to your service charges, and unfortunately my experience with Honolulu Volkswagen wasn't any different. I think it's just part of the business, so be sure you read your quotes before and after your maintenance and question anything that doesn't make sense. Every charge should be able to be fully explained as far as what you are actually paying for. In my case, after some questioning, the random fee was dropped. The service department also replaced a headlight that had malfunctioned but since it was under warranty, it was of no cost to me. My only complaint was that I waited 8 hours at the dealership because I kept being told that they were almost done fixing it when in reality they weren't. While this was a frustrating experience, it put me in touch with one of their salesmen, Jeremy who helped me pass the time by letting me test drive a used Audi A5 they had sitting on the lot and chatting when he wasn't busy. It's easy enough to order through their parts department. I've ordered a set of monster mats, a custom dash cover, and 4 new tires from them. However, I had an issue when it became time to install the tires. I was contacted that my tires had arrived and I scheduled an appointment to have them installed. The day of my appointment, I received a voicemail saying that they had realized one of my tires did not match the other three and that I would have to reschedule. It should go without saying that I was frustrated. It was good that I became aquaintances with Jeremy, because when it came time to find a car more suitable for my growing family, he was able to help. He and another salesman Corey hooked me up with a new Tiguan. Sales: 5 Stars Parts: 3 Stars Service: 3 Stars Average: 4 Stars (Rounded up)

My experience with Honolulu Volkswagen has been nothing short of an exceptional blessing. If I could leave several 5 star reviews I would and my reasonings for doing so would make this review extremely long so I will try to keep it brief. First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to EJ. I recently separated from the military and, due to circumstances, needed to trade in my vehicle and leave island the same day. He worked exhaustingly with Jeff to make it possible for me to accomplish both. A part of that work was volunteering to handle my vehicle drop-off so that it could be shipped to the mainland. I was very stressed that day and did not know how I’d be able to make the drop-off in time so this was a huge relief. However, we were not prepared for the obstacles that would come. I needed to get more paperwork because of technicalities with ownership of the vehicle. That took a while. When EJ first attempted to drop off the vehicle he was told we needed more paperwork. That took some more time. Due to COVID-19, additional delays held up his attempt to drop the vehicle off. Another attempt, he was told, in error, that he needed additional paperwork. Finally, after more than a month later, EJ was able to complete the entire process which saved me an out-of-pocket expense trip back to Honolulu. I thank him very much for taken on this burden and truly felt like a family member because of his compassion for my situation. Without EJ, I would have had to accrue expenses during a time where work and travel is slow and unpromising. He saved me from doing so and has my gratitude. Thank you very much, EJ! I do appreciate it. But it is to no surprise that EJ went above and beyond. For years, beginning with trading in my first used Volkswagen, I had to come into Honolulu Volkswagen for maintenance and repairs and each time I was warmly greeted and graciously taken care of by Alyssa. She always remembered who I was, what issues I had been dealing with before, and gave me the best selection of options to take when I had to make financial decisions regarding the vehicle. We all have had experiences at dealerships where the staff may be cold or tone deaf to you as a person and it was never my experience with Alyssa. My recent Jeep purchase was my very first time buying a vehicle through a dealership. I had heard that dealerships spring lots of fees on people, especially when buying used cars, and that one had to be super careful not to get ripped off or pressured into a vehicle that they didn’t want. So, despite doing a ton of research, I was more than a little nervous when I headed to Honolulu Volkswagen. I stopped at another dealership along the way and there was such a sketchy vibe at that place that I didn’t even stay to test drive a vehicle. Honolulu Volkswagen had none of that- no sketchy vibe, no high-pressure sales, no hidden fees or markups. Instead, there was a friendly, laid-back, no pressure atmosphere. EJ, the super awesome sales person whom helped me out, was quite knowledgeable, answered all my questions thoroughly, and didn’t rush me at all as I spent a good deal of time looking over the Jeep that I then decided to purchase. Price negotiations went better than I could have imagined. EJ showed me the CarFax report (which matched with what I had pulled online for the vehicle) and offered a price that was more than fair (again, matched with what I had pulled online as a very good price for the make, model, and mileage) with no unexpected fees. Volkswagen even gave me a warranty, something I was definitely NOT expecting when purchasing a six-year-old vehicle. The entire process took somewhere around 2 hours, including the loan paperwork, which I was able to do through my credit union but completely at the dealership (full disclosure, I probably could have been out of there even faster, but I’m one of those weird people whom reads every line of the loan paperwork and asked questions on it, so that added some time for sure, but the finance person didn’t rush me at all). In short, I could not be more pleased with how it went, or more impressed with EJ and everyone at Honolulu Volkswagen. My family plans to purchase all of future vehicles through them. It been about a month and a half since my purchase and my Jeep is running great- I love it and have received so many compliments on it. So glad I went to Honolulu Volkswagen. I cannot recommend EJ and Honolulu Volkswagen enough.

They were very relaxed I was able to go get food half way through the sales process and didn't get a million phone calls asking if I was still coming back the car wasn't as clean as I'd expect after buying and it was missing two tire stem caps but Brian quickly fixed the cap situation. I bought my VW second hand, still in warranty, so I take it here for service. I have worked with both Vanessa and Alissa in the customer service department, and they are both excellent. I'll give you an example. I took my car in for its 20k mile service, and the tech discovered an oil leak and a coolant leak. Alissa made sure my car's warranty covered the gasket replacement as well as the water pump, thermostat and coolant and all the labor that went with it. Didn't cost me a dime. A week later, a coolant union fails. I called at the end of the day and Alissa told me to bring it in the next morning. The repairs were going to take longer than estimated so they gave me a sweet loaner car, as well as detailed my car and filled the tank for the inconvenience. If I have a VW, I will take it here as long as they work here--they are fantastic assets to Lithia, and to the VW brand.

How often do you walk up to the front door of a car dealership get greeted by a salesman (saleswoman in my case) and buy the car of your dreams in an hour? Never? It happened to me. I did most of my consideration while driving the roads of highway, scoping out what I wanted. I had narrowed it down to two manufacturers and VW was the second one I went to. I test drove a big SUV and there was no inventory so while the saleswoman looked up when new units were scheduled to arrive, I browsed the showroom. I came across a fire engine red Golf and got in (why not, I was on hold for the moment). Much to my surprise, it fit like a glove and was seemed state of the art for me, a 56 year old lady. When she returned, I ask her if I could drive one. I did and loved it, bought it and I am so thrilled with this car. I've bought about 15 new cars in my life including a V-6 5-speed Jetta years ago. This car is perfect for me and they got the deal done so fast which is the part I hate most. I hate getting trapped while the sales people fun back and forth trying to put the deal together but that didn't happen here thankfully! I even met the GM while I was there and she was also, no pressure and couldn't have been more friendly (that happened before I ever drove the Golf)! This dealership is fantastic top to bottom as far as I'm concerned.

I am not one to write reviews, however I felt compelled because I had a great experience buying a car here. I have bought many cars before and like many others I have had several unpleasant experiences. From shady salespeople to greedy finance managers, the industry as a whole has created what can be a very combative and intimidating experience. I had done my research and knew the vehicle I wanted as well as the price I was willing to pay. I then walked into Honolulu Volkswagen with my "game face" on expecting to go to battle. However I am pleased to say I never had to battle. My salesperson Darien was helpful and at no time did I feel pressured. We sat down with the gentleman who is responsible for financing and everything was clearly laid out including the money factor. The pricing was fair and there was no ridiculous markup above the MSRP that some dealers like to tack on. Finalizing the deal with the finance manager was simple, quick and painless, just as it should be. To top things off I received a box of VW branded swag as part of a holiday promotion. Consider me stoked! Lastly, I would like to mention the General Manger Angela who was most welcoming and very helpful in addressing a problem with the vehicle I had traded in. I realize I can be a difficult, demanding customer as we all should be but kudos to Darien, Angela and the rest of the team for a smooth, painless transaction. The sales and leasing consultant (Mr. Edin Begic) treated us with honesty and respect and answered all of our questions. The model we wanted was not in stock and they ordered it for us without any argument, chicanery or severe bait-and-switch ploys. The car drove and handled nicely, better than comparable models for other brands that we test drove recently. We feel satisfied with this experience, which we found to be quite refreshing and pleasant compared to most of the other dealerships we have visited recently -- there was no sleaze at Honolulu VW!

I’m delighted to tell you that the three individuals who assisted us – Ivan Felix, Jeremy Fontes, and Erik Mak – truly provided an unexpectedly spectacular experience. Indeed, as someone who spent ten years with the number-one volume Audi dealership in America, my expectations of a far lesser experience were quickly dispelled. During my initial investigatory visit, I was warmly greeted by Ivan Felix. After the perfunctory exchange of basic information, Ivan diligently listened to my stated needs and then professionally responded. During our test drive, he confidently answered my questions and endeavored to further pique my interest with each reply. After we returned to the showroom, Ivan asked Jeremy Fontes to help clarify several pertinent matters which were then still somewhat disconcerting to me. Jeremy immediately established a great rapport, and skillfully offered far more than superficial-yet-perfunctory input. I came back the next day with my wife, and she too commented on how surprised she was with the high level of professionalism and “warmth” shown by everyone in the store. Once again, Ivan made sure my wife was comfortable in every respect, and Jeremy deftly handled my myriad requests regarding the lease parameters. Our experience was consistently furthered during our time with Erik Mak, their finance person. Although I knew what to expect during this portion of the sales process, my wife had many questions and concerns – Erik patiently explained each step, and gracefully weathered my texting one of my contacts at Audi Financial Services when I wanted some “behind the curtain” information. I must say that although the numbers (and facilities) are markedly different, our experience with leasing a vehicle from Honolulu VW rivals any we’ve had at Audi, Jaguar, or Mercedes dealerships on the mainland. OUTSTANDING SERVICE @ HONOLULU VW, WAYNE WEISENFLUH, Service Advisor. Puts that other dealership's Service Advisor to shame. My family and I lease a few VWs through the other dealership, but they can thank the incompetence/ongoing arrogance of their Service Advisor, "D", for this poor review of their service department and for us no longer willing to do business with them. Note: Because my sales person at the other dealership did exceed expectations, I was willing to accept prior negative experiences with "D", but this was the final straw. Long story short: If it was not for WAYNE WEISENFLUH, Service Advisor @ Honolulu VW, I may have believed the outright lie "D" told me about the condition of my coolant and would have been out several hundred dollars and then some. 6/2015: Took my leased VW for service check to that other dealership. Upon pick-up, was handed the invoice, along with Multipoint Inspection List. Wasn't offered any explanation, by "D"/anyone, so I assumed all was well. In scanning the list, I saw the yellow box next to "Coolant Reservoir" checked, meaning "May Require Attention"; under "Comments": "COOLANT RESERVOIR CONTAMINATED WITH INCORRECT COOLANT." Went to "D", asked him what it meant. Prior experience typically meant walking on eggshells when you had a question. Phrased my question accordingly. Said he had to check. ??? Returns. Informs me I or someone I permitted to work on the car contaminated the coolant. ??? I lease the car, I tell him, precisely for the reason that I do not know anything about cars!!! -- and WHY would I actually go somewhere to PAY for someone else to monkey with my coolant when leasing means having the convenience of that dealership's service department?? Still, he shows me the cloudy coolant - yes, it IS murky but I didn't do it, I tell him AGAIN. The debate escalated. Utterly frustrated, I start to give in ... my word against his - he wins, since his technician supports him. I ask how do I fix this? And what happens if I can't afford the repair right now? Then what?? "D" in his infinite smugness: "If you don't get it fixed, you'll do damage that will run a few hundred dollars more than it costs to fix it now - a few hundred dollars now will save you that money down the road." (His words etched in my memory.) AND ALL would be out-of-pocket costs because "I" or someone "I permitted" caused the situation. I left beyond frustrated because I KNEW NO ONE besides THIS Service Advisor's dealership had EVER touched my car. 1/2016: I live outside of town but thought I would give Honolulu VW a try. Justification: Nothing could be worse than dealing with "D" at the other dealership. And that's when I met WAYNE WEISENFLUH, their Service Advisor. Immediately a most pleasant exchange. Actually LISTENED to what I had to say. Told him what "D" had told me - to either pay out-of-pocket now to fix the coolant situation, since it was my fault, or wait and have to pay even more out-of-pocket because of further damage that would be sure to follow. WAYNE WEISENFLUH didn't buy it. He said they'd see what was going on. And LO and BEHOLD ->>>> a 100% different story from what "D" fed me!!! >>>>>> What was causing the coolant to look contaminated/murky was NOT my fault INSTEAD, it was caused by an INTERNAL LEAK!!! AND ultimately EVERYTHING related to that leak was completely replaced/repaired WITHOUT 1 CENT COST TO ME - ALL covered under VW warranty and ALL thanks to WAYNE WEISENFLUH. And so my experience went -- he listened to everything I had questions about -- addressed each and every one, and then some -- explained the befores and the afters -- and did so graciously and knowledgeably. Perfect combination. One that will keep my family and me going back to HONOLULU VW. Needless to say: Trust factor - WAYNE WEISENFLUH, Service Advisor, Honolulu VW - 100%. Thank you, WAYNE! Trust factor -- "D", Service Advisor, other dealership -- Zero. A shame 1 bad apple has the power to produce reviews like this and ruin it for the dealership he represents.
