This would be an amazing place to bring kids, host events, lay out and relax, but, unfortunately, the upkeep is not up to par. Luckily, there's an abundance of natural beauty and the relatively close location near downtown gives this place some outstanding views of the city!! There's an est mile walk track, a baseball/soccer field, skatepark, kids park, pool, pier and community center. As stated before, mad potential, just needs some TLC 💪🏾

My family and I visited this park last night, around 8 or so. It's definitely very spacious and mainly well kept! They offer a rec center, a playground, a skate park, a basketball court, a swimming pool and various water activities, and even a canopy type place by the water with benches. We hung out for about an hour or so that way our daughter could tire herself out. We sat under the canopy and watched the lightning in the distance - lighting up the night sky. We took a brisk walk on the trail and then let our girl play on the playground while we listened to the group of guys play a game of basketball. My husband grew up in the area and would frequent often. We will definitely be going again. :)

football camp,basketball,ramps for skateboards, have also playpark with seats and grills.have a good walk around the middle of tampa or try the swimmingpool with mckay bay view.....if you have never seen this park...try it you will be satisfied

Desoto Park is so family oriented. There's always space for a picnic, swimming, skateboarding, skating, walking your dog, walking, spending time with your significant other. It's the perfect place for a birthday party in the park with big shady trees. I highly recommend it.

Visit this place while on lunch hour. Love being near the water and also having some shade on a hot day and this place has it all. Homeless hang out on the walkout area and picnic tables but also lots of business people walking as well. Really enjoyed it

It's a nice park to go and hang out with friends has 2 basket ball courts has a playground and swings for kids and has a big open field to either play Baseball, Football, or Soccer. I tend to always go here to have a get together with family and friends. Definitely recommend.

Handled situation N ladies room; all us Seniors over 55 years old (bladder Control problems) I don't know how much Disinfection/Bleach they had, believe me they USED. I did a small POLL [NOT A 1 attendee has anything NEG 2 report/NO signs/symptoms COVID19. I wanna hold my 61st Birthday Celebration N this Park.

Well this park seems to have it all. A skate park, soccer goals, a playground, walking paths, basketball court, and a pool. I can tell this park is a local Hotspot. So many activities for each age group.

Quite a nice park on the edge of a lower rent neighborhood. Great big pool and very clean community center. Playground and tennis courts are well maintained too. Nice waterfront sidewalk and a pavilion out on a point of land.

Fishing was ok saw alot of fish jumping over 20 fish clean out of the water decent size, couldn't land one of the jumpers but got 6 huge catfish not my favorite fish to catch but great fight with 2 of them they where 18 inchers I recommend ballast point 15 min drive from desoto

Pool is only.open during the summer. But i was able to catch it on the last day, beautifully shady and the best 3rd birthday party for my little one. They have grills, and . A park as well

This is a sizable park right near Mckay Bay. It has outdoor exercise equipment arranged for circuit training, a large playset for kids, a pool, multiple basketball courts, and a skate park with half pipes, etc... The basketball court is the busiest. Always people there shooting hoops. Skate park is less busy,. But there are usually kids there skating. The playground (for kids under 8) is never really busy. You might have to share it with 3-4 other kids, but there's plenty to go around. The circuit training equipment is always available. There is a pier also, which juts out into the bay, complete with gazebo and benches. Great place to watch the sunset.

Worst experience ever. Lot of trash and a lot of hoodlum smoking weed. I fell in the water and was attacked by horseshoe crabs. I later got eczema and and found out that I was not the biological father of my son. Enter at your own risk.

It's a great park but it needs some love. There is old concrete on the flat (dangerous if not looking). Small layer missing in the half pipe, avoidable as is the concrete. Loved it though!

Beautiful park! Very clean, kid-friendly! Pool is big and fun, has an area that extends into the bay for fishing or cook-outs. Perfect place for outdoor birthday parties. Clean bathrooms, supervised & safely monitored children's after-school programs areas. Perfect for running, has a sakte park park soccer field. Full basketball court means never a shortage of folks to play with! Awesome track around the park! Great view into the bay, I see dolphins all the time!

It's a gorgeous park right by the bay, although there is no beach or good water access. The playground is very nice, there's a fairly long walk/run trail and some exercise apparatuses, and the pool is good for families, especially with kiddy slides and splash pad. The park overall is very quiet and very wooded, with beautiful, large trees everywhere. Great place to unwind and relax!

My family and I visited this park last night, around 8 or so. It's definitely very spacious and mainly well kept! They offer a rec center, a playground, a skate park, a basketball court, a swimming pool and various water activities, and even a canopy type place by the water with benches. We hung out for about an hour or so that way our daughter could tire herself out. We sat under the canopy and watched the lightning in the distance - lighting up the night sky. Beautiful old growth tree canopy and views of the bay. Nice playground and basketball courts that are well used. It’s a bummer to see the pool closed, but hopefully that will change soon. Definitely would recommend as a nice place to have a picnic lunch or for an afternoon walk.

We happen to run across this park while driving looking for water to relax for a couple hours. We were able to sit at the picnic tables at an end of a pier and enjoy spending time with my wife. It was super clean and lots of people fishing. we are already planning on going back next weekend because it was very relaxing.

It was a nice park!! I'm not giving 5 stars because of all the garbage in the water. I know it's hard to clean up in some areas but by the walls its nothing a net couldn't handle. It was just sad seeing the fish and wildlife having to swim in it. Kind of made my skin crawl.

Although the pool isn't open to the public yet there was plenty of shade at the picnic area. The playground isn't really all ghatbtoddler equipped but still a great place to come with the whole family. Did I mention the skateboard park across from the playground!

I come to this location at night, as a place to just clear my mind after a long day or even week. The view is beautiful, and the neighborhood is quiet. This is perfect for a quiet night or a somewhat secluded ocean vibe, without having to drive 100miles to the nearest beach.

Awesome spot to relax with family or friends. You can fish and bbq and there are swings for kids. Never to crowded so that's a plus. The only downside is the lack of cold water for drinking. There is a water fountain but the water is warm. Public restrooms are available as well.

Great place for a family with a variety of options from Basketball courts, skateboarding park - including a half pipe. That is in addition to a pool with kiddie slides (I dont think the pool is open due to COVID-19), walking path and soccer field. I was very impressed with this park and plan to return.

It's actually a really great spot for the area, but there is always so much garbage in the water. Its why it's a 3. It's in an industrial area. But there are fish and dolphins you can often see. There are basketball hoops and there's a rec center. If only there was more ability to clean up the area.

Desoto park was a clean and family friendly park. There is ample space to run and play, and a very nice playground. The pool looked clean and I saw employees checking the water. The river nearby is fun to watch and sit by. I can see however at night how the area can be sketchy. There are also amble Pokémon go stops and gyms in this area.

Great for the whole family! They have basketball courts, swings, a big playground, volleyball net, and a trail by the water for walking. In the summer there's access to the recreational pool. You can bring your pets as well!

I love this park, I make it a point to walk around it every day. Between the skate park, basketball court, pool and the beautiful view of the ocean; also, (for those who play) there's tons of Pokemon Go stops and gyms. If you get bored of the park there's McKay Bay, a beautiful nature reserve, right down the road. If you plan on staying past dark and enjoy the night life, Ybor City is just a few minutes away. There's also plenty of delicious eats around the area. Awesome place to bring family/friends or just to hang alone. I highly recommend it.

Love the Dog Park here especially since it’s so vast of an area for my dog to walk and play. Great bike trails and very clean for swimming. You may want to call about a reservation for a Picnic table however there are a few open ones that are on a first come basis. Another treat there is the Ferry ride to Egmont Key. You will need to make a reservation for the Ferry which will take you to see The Ft Desoto Ruins!

I grew up at this park. Going to DeSoto elementary School in the 80s we played there for PE, also went to summer camps there. Once I got older it was the chill spot. As an adult it is a great park to take my own kids, as now they have added so much more like the skate park, a swimming pool, etc. The pier is the best, nice breeze from the water, beautiful view, plenty of picnic tables, basketball courts, playground equipment, walk/bike trail, lots of shade tree and ample parking.

Playground needs swings and playground equipment is a little old. Only 5 to ten year olds are permit to play on playground equipment because it could be dangerous to anyone younger.

The park is amazing... Public pool but it's not free but fair priced... Skatepark... Full basketball court... Swings for big and little kids... Plenty of parking... No handicap equipment at this park... Water front so you can enjoy the view or fish... It would be nice for people to do there dirt somewhere else... Quite a few people there that shouldn't be... Great super quaint quiet old old south of Ybor neighborhood that sits on the Bay and just next to the Port of Tampa. I exercise here in the afternoons after work. They have good solid jungle gym equipment for you old schoolers who like to sweat outside and plenty of good safe lanes to run/jog/walk. And a bathroom . Quiet quaint place on the water tucked away.

Hmm, just trying to smoke some reefer in peace, and of course, like always, the K-9 unit shows up. So they search the car, my person, and my bag (at this point I done ate the blunt) and you won't believe how relieved I was to find out I only had two unopened four lokos left in the car... I tell you what, that dog was going berserk! And all they found was two sealed cans of malt liquor! This is one of the many reasons I believe in God! ....I also did get brought in for paraphernalia, but at least I didn't have anything felony-worthy... So... It was a good night... I usually have at least 9 felonies on me at a time..... So yeah
