Reviews of Cabana - Seattle Campervan Rental
Burton Miller
Incredible trip to Vashon Island! First time in a van, and it was amazing. Hot showers, private toilet (that I did not have to empty), and easy to drive. It really was like a mobile hotel room. My wife has to drag me out in to nature, and we had a blast. We will do another trip in a Cabana soon!

I have spent a lot of time thinking about this review and I can truly say that Cabana in Ballard deserves 5 full stars for the experience we had. I read some scary reviews before we left but I think our experience was top notch despite a few hiccups. I think a PROs and CONs list is the best way to explain our experience:
Our itinerary: 5 Days (Seattle, WA to Bandon, OR then up the Oregon Coast for 5 Days)
Night 1: Bullards Beach State Park (Bandon)
Night 2: Port of Siuslaw Campground and Marina (Florence)
Night 3: Hart's Camp (Pacific City - best one!)
Night 4: Wright's for Camping (Cannon Beach)
Night 5: SeaQuest State Park (near Mt. St. Helens)
PROs:
1) Customer Service: We didn't realize until our second night of the trip that our stove was broken and couldn't be used. Since we already purchased groceries, Cabana reimbursed us for them and gave us a partial refund on our nightly rate. It was easy to get in touch with them and they were very helpful.
2) Convenience: I like that we rented this van through a company. The app and included guide was very easy to use for first time RVers like us. I think our experience would have been difficult had we just picked a random RV from Outdoorsy.
3) Bed: The bed in this van is so comfortable! Some morning it was hard to get up and get going because we were so comfortable in bed.
4) Storage: We had no trouble using the storage units in our Model B van. It was really easy to store all of our clothes and food for the week in this space.
5) Gas mileage: Although it was expensive to fill up, this gas tank lasted a long time in between trips to the pump. We drove almost 1000 miles and only need to get gas 3 times.
CONs:
1) Hot water: As others have said, the water in the shower never really warmed up and we ended up using the showers at campsites during our trip. Ours was a Model B. I am not sure if newer vans are better in this department.
2) Drivability: Our Model B van was a 2020 but had ~75k miles on it. The steering was a little misaligned and this van is large enough that navigating through small streets can be tough.
3) iSeries/monitor system: While filling and emptying the water tank was pretty easy, the gauges never told us that the black or gray water tanks were full. We dumped once and it was clear that they were almost overflowing.
All in all, this was a great experience from a great company. they still seem fairly small so I am sure the experience will get better with time. I think this is the best way to see the PNW and would recommend it to any young couple!

Excellent choice for a van getaway. Well designed and compact for highway and city driving (and parking). Pull-out kitchen is a nice amenity. Shower and toilet functioned well and black/grey water dumping was easy enough. Optional mosquito net system might be nice. We carried our own net for the bed.

Decided to try four nights using Cabana for a road trip out of Seattle on hwy 20 through the North Cascades.
Pro:
1. Great customer service and very responsive throughout the trip. Very helpful in resolving problems during the trip and trying to find solutions when faced with a hiccup.
2. Excellent interior set up. Easy to maneuver, comfortable, and convenient. The bed was also more comfortable then expected.
3. Easy check in process using the app.
Cons:
1. When first checking in the front tires had some issues with extremely low tread, small pieces of metal sticking out on the edges, and a large chunk missing from the front tires. Luckily the issue was quickly resolved by the company as the front tires were replaced, got refunded for the first night, and we did receive a complimentary night at the hotel near the van pick up. Downside was that this process postponed our trip by a day and ultimately required us to reroute our original plan.
2. Cooking set up did not match the pictures online and in other reviews. I understand that every model is different but our cooking area consisted of a basic coleman grill. The adapter to attach the propane tank was also missing. Meals were prepared using the water from the hot water heater or over a campfire.
3. Car registration stickers on the license plate was expired. Traveled during the early/middle of July of 2022. Tags on license plate expired December of 2021. This wasn’t noticed until the end of our trip.
Overall, we had a great trip and enjoyed using the van despite some of the complications we encountered.

My favorite parts about my Cabana trip:
1. not having to get up in the middle of the night in the cold to use a public restroom!!! It’s such a surprising luxury to not have to deal with bathroom stops and campsite latrines.
2. Cooking with a view!! I literally ate a “homecooked” meal on the beach in Santa Barbara and a full scramble & hash brown breakfast with a view of Yosemite Falls! It’s absolutely the coolest experience
Thank you Cabana ❤️

We've taken the vans out a couple times now. The most recent trip was to the tulip festival in Washington. It is so nice to have everything you need in the vehicle so you can focus on enjoying the day.

We were heading to a small town in Washington for a friends wedding where some of the guests would be camping by the venue. We normally don’t enjoy camping but we figured this would be the perfect time to test out a service like cabana. We really enjoyed our experience! They were quick to respond to any of our questions/feedback, the bed was comfortable, the features/space were really cool. Would definitely try them again when they start in SF!

Absolutely great experience with this company! Fun excursion with a camper van that gives you total freedom to explore the country on your terms. Imagine just pulling up at the nearest rest area to sleep and keep going at first light? That’s the option with these well designed vans that sleep 2 very comfortably. Enjoyed almost every minute of it (ok you do need to get used to very close quarters with your partner - which is fun but you can desire space after a couple of weeks)

Took a Cabana van for a couple of weeks working our way down 101 in Oregon, PCH in California to San Diego then Palm Springs and up 395 and back to Seattle... was such an incredible trip, the van was so convenient and comfortable for my husband and I, plus our dog. We did use the chains a few times, the vehicle being rear wheel drive and we did get stuck in some desert sand and had to get towed in a hipcamp spot but Cabana was really helpful and even refunded us a night for our troubles. Overall being able to boondock and not have to plan much was really (especially during COVID times), we didn't even stay at RV parks and were able to find great secluded spots ourselves via various apps and recommendations. The layout of the van was great and having a hot shower on board was awesome post hiking! We brought our own table/camp stove so we could have extra storage for our longer trip and it worked great!

We had a wonderful experience with our hotel room on wheels. The Ford chassis got about 18 MPG which is impressive considering the weight. No problems with braking, acceleration or shifting through all the mountains we traveled in the Canadian Rockies. Very easy to drive.
The amenities provided were really great. Especially the onboard WiFi and streaming content as we fell asleep on the comfy bed.
We are excited to rent one of the new Mercedes-Benz vans on our next trip.
Susan
The technology in the van is amazing and it had everything I needed. Perfect way for 1-2 people to travel virus-free. The van systems are largely user-friendly and the support people are great, but you should have an adventurous spirit to really enjoy the journey.

We are currently using the cabana as I’m writing this review. Overall the cabana, mobile hotel is a great concept and we had high hopes for this van, considering the photos and how they advertised it on the website. The customer service is okay, but there were too many hiccups with the van itself. The tank system monitor does not work properly. It states that the tank is completely 100% full and grey water is at 0%. This can’t be true, since we have been using the water consistently and frequently. Wifi did not work -and we tried contacting customer service, but they were nice enough to give us a small partial refund. We used our T-Mobile hotspot instead to try to get the tv working. Kitchen items were missing, and most of them were not cleaned. It would be ideal to make sure all cabanas have consistent dish ware. It doesn’t make sense why we have a small pot while the photos advertises a large one. Customer service told us that they don’t provide seasoning packets and cooking oil, but the website clearly states that they do provide them. Some of the cabinets were broken, so they fling out while driving. Shower water leaks out through the door, so I wished they provided more towels to mop up. We even had a man from the ferry toll booth explaining to us about their tragic experience with cabana. Apparently no one checked to refresh the toilet tank.
I don’t mind trying out cabana again as long as they try to improve the quality of their branding and van. The concept is great, but execution can be better. Perhaps it was just our cabana that had a lot of issues. I’m sure others have had more positive experiences. We did have several people come to us during our trip to ask about the cabana and we gave them positive reviews in hopes that they can give it a try, but I wished the cabana experience for myself was better.

Rented a van in Seattle for a road trip to all of the national parks in WA. Fantastic customer service, fantastic bed, simple to use wet bath (rest room+ shower are the same room), with kitchen and water. I am so excited to rent again with Cabana!
Nick Hoonan
Had a great trip to snowy Leavenworth. It was really nice being so mobile and not have to worry about setting up for camping or getting settled at a hotel. The cabin is super roomy for a couple and a large sized dog. The bed is very comfy and amenities are definitely a plus. Who doesn't love a hot shower and Netflix on the road? We used the kitchenette which was cool to able to make our meals in the beautiful outdoors plus a secondary sink for easy dish cleaning! If you haven't booked with Cabana, I would highly recommend it!

I can’t say enough great things about the van rentals here and the company. I booked a camper van last minute and the whole process from the contactless pick up to the contactless drop off was so smooth. I have rented other camper vans before and the water and waste tanks on this one are so large (makes a big difference so you’re not having to fill up the water tank every day or empty the waste tanks every other day). I used the van for a week and took showers every day, used/flushed the toilet throughout the day, cleaned dishes every day, and still my fresh water tank was at 50% and the waste tanks about at 70%. One con to the van I will say is limited functional storage space. There’s these odd pull out drawers that were designed to stow suitcases but it’s hard/not practical or functional to use them for other purposes. Another minor con is the outdoor pull out burner stove. Generally it’s great to cook outside and not get your van smelling like food, but in rainy weather it would be great to have some sort of option to cook inside the van. I would recommend bringing a camp stove perhaps if the weather is less than ideal during your trip, or else you may just be either eating out or eating a dinner that only requires boiled water (hello ramen).
The van is equipped with everything you will need- dish soap, hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, bedding/comforter, tons of pillows, plenty of bath and kitchen towels, several tp rolls, trash bags, waste tank powder deodorizer, electrical plug ins, water hose, propane tank, tire chains for winter, propane portable heater, camp chairs, camp table, ice scraper, dust pan and brush, emergency supplies (spark plugs, etc), even this cute little portable fold out corn hole game. And lots of other nice touches to the van. The water is actually hot when you shower (let it heat up 15-20 minutes first) and the van heater is very efficient and effective.
Great experience! 100% would rent from this company again, and look forward to it.

A great (probably the best) way to introduce yourself to camping! My wife and I loved the 4-day rental cabana as we could experience most aspects of camping from the comfort of a hotel room, especially during Covid. The van guide videos on YouTube are excellent. And their customer reps were quite responsive and helped us with queries.
Paulina Osinska
I just went out on my first trip with Cabana. They found me a great camping spot outside of Index, WA. The site was amazing. The van was everything I was hoping for: super comfortable bed, shower, and toilet. Everything I needed to relax and enjoy our trip!
Matt Houser
We had a great experience with Cabana. The front seats are really comfortable for a long trip, bed was very cozy, towels were nicer than a boutique hotel, and everything worked really well. Our Cabana Van made our trip to Yosemite epic. I would definitely rent again
Maxwell Kolden
Cabana vans are absolutely worth the expense! They provide a level of flexibility and comfort that is impossible with traditional camping. We drove them from Los Angeles to Yosemite and it's hard to imagine car camping again without them! Would definitely recommend and look forward to the next trip.
Kevin Witt
What a great experience driving the Pacific Coast Highway and visiting Big Sur! The bed was cozy, the kitchen and bathroom worked great. The Cabana itself is incredibly easy to drive and has so much storage for luggage and gear.

Cannot say enough how wonderful our experience was with Cabana out of Los Angeles. Mom and teenage daughter trip, everything was amazing. The bed super comfy, easy to drive and navigate, radio awesome! Super easy to pickup and check in, bring plates and silverware if u don't get kitchen. Customer service amazing and a live human to answer questions. A lasting memory with my daughter all due to Cabana!! Thank you and cannot wait for our next adventure.

We borrowed a van from Ballard, Seattle for a long weekend. Pick-up was quick and easy, using the app to unlock our van. Van was clean, tank was full and ready to go! The van was easy to drive - if you can drive a full-size pickup or SUV, you can drive this van.
We spent the first night on a farm outside Seattle, second night visiting friends in Portland, and third night at Seaquest state park near Mt St Helens. Bed was super comfy, water was hot, the battery stayed almost 100% full for the whole trip, and the grey and black water tanks still had plenty of capacity (so we didn't have to empty them).
We were 1/2 hour late returning, but that was no problem at all. 100% would do again!

Pleasantly surprised with our Cabana rental! Rented a van for two weeks for a socially distanced trip and took advantage of our private bedroom/bathroom on wheels. The vehicle was well organized, plenty of space to cook and hang out, and Cabana provided great customer service whenever we needed help. I was considering buying a van, but will just rent from Cabana in the future.

Cabana exceeded my expectations when looking for an RV. It was my first time renting one and they made it super easy to figure out - also they planned the entire trip for me! How cool. I highly recommend this company! A huge thank you to the Cabana team for your service!
Kyle Hoch
100% Cabana. I’ve rented and used several different camper vans out there. Hands down Cabana is the best camper van company. Vans are comfortable with superior design with the best customer service team.
Thanks for the forever memories!!

Wonderful experience cruising around Olympic National Park! The van was top notch, with all the needed amenities. Highly recommend and cannot wait for our next adventure with Cabana!

My girlfriend and I got to stay in a Cabana for a few days and had such a blast! We stayed locally in Seattle for one evening and it was amazing to be able to park near the beach, have local fish and wine for dinner, watch Netflix before bed and then wake up the next morning for a jog and then shower all in our rental vehicle!
The next day we drove up to Deception Pass and found a spot to sleep on one of the many beautiful islands west of Seattle. The final day, we rode the ferry back to the city, gathered our things and locked the van to end our trip. It was a seamless experience and couldn't recommend it more for people wanting a hybrid urban / camping experience.

Generally pretty cool concept, but had a couple of hiccups:
1) Had some issues during the check in process but it was resolved very quickly through customer support
2) Not 4-wheel drive, which makes it more difficult to do some of the destinations they recommend given how terrible some of the roads are!
3) the hot water did not work at all. it would last 30 seconds no matter how long I waited for the water to heat up :(
Travis Apling
Great company! I love how they are constantly striving to set the bar of excellence. If you are ever on the fence or want to ask questions the professionals that work at Cabana Vans are the way to go.

I recently took a trip with the Cabana Van to Ocean Shores for a weekend and it really is a hotel on wheels. It was easy to drive and is the perfect size. Inside the bed is comfortable, tv with Netflix, wifi, shower & toilet, sink, small fridge, storage...what more do you need? Access to a cooking top, sink, more storage in the back of the van. Would recommend and definitely do it again! Thank you Local Lens Seattle and Cabana Van!!!
Edward “Ed” Azemas
The camper van was perfect! Compact and efficient! I love that I can choose when it's an rv or not. No parking available but there was parking in the rv part. I was a rv then. Road sign stated, " no rv", then I was a van! I had to return home for an emergency. Cabana life gave me a credit for my next reservation. They didn't have to do that! I appreciate this generosity. Can't wait for my next adventure with Cabana Life!

UPDATE: Levi, the head of product at Cabana, contacted us the day after, gave us a wanted sincere apology. Promised they would work hard to fix the issue. He also offered a coordinated trip to us if we could give it another chance. The conversation with him did restore our faith in Cabana. So, we will see and might update the review again if we decide to try it out again.
Absolutely TERRIBLE experience with Cabana van. Our reservation was booked for Jun 2 to Jun 5, 2021. On Jun 2 we had friends drop us off at the pick up location, took out our luggage and waters, saw there were two vans parked in the lot and located the one with matching plates as the one shown in the app’s check in page. After numerous attempts at clicking the begin check-in process button the app was still on that same page, so we thought maybe the app was frozen then we proceed to call Cabana’s customer service for help. From there everything went down the hill. Someone named Justin answered our call. We explained that we were having trouble checking-in, Justin asked us if we made the reservation the night before, we said yes, he then replies by saying Cabana don’t take reservations that are within 24-hour window. Then he proceeds by stating that he emailed in the morning saying that he sees that we have a booking request starting today and IF we still want to take a van out today; since we did not reply he had to give the van to someone else.
We are pretty sure we made the reservation the night before and completed the booking process according to Cabana, we have a booking confirmation number, downloaded the app, registered, and within minutes our booked itinerary came up in the app showing us the location we were supposed to pick-up the van; and by 3PM the app even showed license plate of the van we were supposed to pick-up. Now, are we at fault for believing that we had a van waiting for us when all the evidence points to it? As I tried to explain the situation to Justin, sure he said he apologizes for the confusion, but I do not feel any sincerity since his attitude was that this is all our fault because we did not reply his email, especially when he said “I shouldn’t have to remind you to check your email” something along those lines. If the merchant has a problem it should be the merchant’s responsibility to get in touch with the customer, just one email does not justify since the merchant could have reached out in other ways such as calling or texting, which in reality would lead to a more prompt response as required in this situation. By this point we were very upset and furious, we explained that we had already booked and paid for accommodations because we were meeting up with friends during this trip, so that money is down the drain because of this situation; Justin again apologizes and then says our reservation was not valid because our card was not charged, and at that point no other van is available and there is NOTHING he could do for us. First of all, if you don’t take reservations within 24 hours, you should have made that clear in the beginning or don’t make date shown as available when someone is trying to make such a reservation. On a side note, if you don’t take reservations within 24 hours why would you give our booked reservation to some else. Second thing, we were led to believe that everything was in order because the online booking process was completed and we were given a confirmation number, when we proceeded to the app accordingly everything was fine as well, since our booked itinerary was shown in the app and everything after we registered and submitted the asked documents. If you have a request and approve process, you should have made that clear to the customers and not mislead customers to believe that everything is set. Just because Justin sent a single email telling us that he sees we have a request and asked us if we still wanted to do that, does not make us the customers responsible for this messed-up situation because the company lead us believe that we completed the booking and was all set.

Stayed in West Seattle and then traveled to Deception Pass for a wonderful mix of staycation and getaway!

This company was unbelievably accommodating during our experience. We took the van down all along the west coast and everything operated efficiently. I would recommend Cabana to everyone!

Great peeps! Vans are cool too.

Especially love the unlimited mileage

Awesome experience, excellent bed and pillows.

Their van has everything I need, did a 1 week trip and love it. Their app is great and their customer service is awesome. I highly recommend.
Alex Crosson
Excellent trip. Rented for 5 days and did 2k miles, it was damn cold outside and the van was more than comfortable. While not always the easiest to drive in adverse weather, the ride and accessibility features were excellent and made the drive a lot more tolerable. Bed was great. Bathroom was convenient. Power was clutch. 10/10 recommend over most Airbnb’s
