Reviews of Lime Rock Nature Preserve
Mike Longenbaker
Lime Rock preserve is a quiet, easy walking environment that's right in the middle of urban development in Lincoln RI. Extremely convenient for and interesting walk in the woods. The main trail follows an old trolley track (southern New England used to have a lot of trolleys that went from town to town) and it adds interest to the hike/walk. We were there in the middle of October which makes this a great place for leaf peeping. One trail leads to a beautiful lake.

Nice easy walk around a lake. Trail is about 1.3 miles. Hill trail is about 1 mile. Limited parking at trail head. Trails are not well marked, but area is small so missing a turn us no big deal. Not very busy. Trail is not paved and somewhat rough. Sturdy waking shoes are a good idea. Also the trail can be quite wet and muddy.

One of the nicest places to hike. I take my hound off leash and there are a lot of lovely dog people who hike there too. Really quick hike if you're looking to recharge your batteries and unwind. The only negative thing is check yourself and your dogs if you do decide to hike here, lots of ticks! Loads of horse flies in the summer too, I got bit through 2 layers of clothing despite my bug spray.
Pimmy Leary
This place is so peaceful! Nice little hiking paths to the pond.
Kris K
Nice place to hike through as the trails seemed well maintained. It goes around a large pond that is the real attraction to the preserve. It was a pleasant 3 mile trail but bring bug spray or you'll be so sorry.
I doubt many people know this place exists so it is also a quiet place as a result. There's also very limited parking...maybe 4 spots. You can try to park on the road but I don't think I would try that. The neighborhood is upper middle class and I'm willing to wager if anyone parks on the road a call to the police won't take more than a minute or two.

Beautiful hiking/walking trails in a very convenient location! This is a wonderful place to decompress and enjoy a good walk. We went here on a hot July afternoon to get a little relief from the heat. The trails here are well-marked with fresh blazes, and there is a trail map with your location labeled at every major intersection. Lots of chipmunks, too! Overall, we did about 2.5 miles in a little over an hour, covering the majority of the trails. Great place to bring the kids, too!

So gorgeous! It was bug free since it’s October and the falling leaves and the trees changing colors were such a beautiful backdrop to our hike.
This is a mostly flat (with some uphill) hike that isn’t super rocky. It’s mostly dirt a path. The little lake is beautiful too.

Sign also says Aust family preserve. I love this trail. May not be the best for weak ankles, terrain may have rocks or roots. Not a long walk to loop around a pond. Trail is marked and easy-to-follow.

I stumbled upon this preserve by accident, but could not be happier that I decided to take a look. On the quiet and peaceful trails you'll discover the natural beauty of Rhode Island. Hidden within are old stone walls that slither amongst the trees and stones hills that were built long ago by the hands of our forefathers. Walk across a dam, alongside a ravine, pass by rock ledges, hike up hill past big rocks, see wild flowers and mushrooms, and discover the beauty of Manton pond.
Thomas Judd
Pleasant enough hike, if unremarkable. Some stone wall and outcroppings of marble - this at one point was an advertised feature but you get the sense that they stopped either because of confusion (the ledges aren't much to look at) or because something nicer looking was mined. The highlight of the preserve is the area around the pond, though this is somewhat spoiled by the line of homes running along one edge of the forest.

The trail was nice, lot’s of bugs so I’d say spray yourself before going but it was really calm and peaceful. Excellent scenery and I brought my dog Ace along which he enjoyed thoroughly. I followed the blue trail. It was pretty short but a nice little workout
Donna “JrsNonna” Birs
Walked the Blue marker path yesterday with a good friend of mine. We enjoyed the walk! It was such a Beautiful day, the walk was peaceful, we heard a couple of Birds singing!
Jan Galkowski
Parking is very limited. Nice walk about. While Poison Ivy isn't everywhere, it's common enough -- and rare enough -- that brushing up against it is likely if not careful. Walks off the trail are not recommended, and are not a good idea anyway.
I was looking for mosses, but they are disappointingly rare. There are some liverworts.
Carol Cotoia
Nice walk through well marked paths and around a pond. Take care to watch for embedded rocks in the ground that could trip you. Moderate climbing with stairs in those areas. Some fallen trees to walk over.
Pedro Bonilla
Nice short trails but limited parking spots on a nice sunny day
D M Duffy Folmar
So beautiful and peaceful! It was a little muddy but that's to be expected with all the rain we've had! I will definitely go back.
Michael Cummings

Karl Orrall

Sasikkumar Sigamani
Family friendly hiking for a short 1 to 2 hour visit... It's cool and safe as well... Would recommend this to all ppl staying within 10-20 miles distance, if you are looking for a small hiking place for about a couple of hours
Julia Jolin
Beautiful trail. An easy and enjoyable walk.
scout lee
Beautiful area! Quite large, offering a few beautiful trails around a nice big lake. Has a few parking spaces and map at entrance; pretty impossible to get lost as it's basically a big circle. Very well maintained trails. Excellent for dog walking, hiking, and bird watching.
Jayne Ritz
Great nature hike that took about one hour to complete the yellow and long blue side. Marked well with a nice walk around Manton pond!
Use bug spray! Great for kids to climb on rocks and trees fallen across the path!
Paul Boucher
Our family enjoys this hidden gem. It is a quiet oasis of nature with views of a small lake. We have visited in fall, spring and summer. Summertime does get buggy, but the cool temperature under the green canopy is well worth the annoyance.
MegaMatt C
Great place to take your dog for a walk/swim
Ryan Hart
It was quiet and beautiful with very large trees that cast shade throughout the whole clear but narrow trail. It makes you feel like you're in a tunnel carved into the forest i highly recommend this Trail.
Katterine Herra
Well kept, short and easy local hike. I usually come here on Sundays when I don't feel like driving an hour to a more challenging hike. Takes me about 45 mins to an hour to complete the whole thing so I do it twice! It's actually two trails in one but there are posts with maps so you won't get lost. There are a few dead ends that are easy to stumble upon, but you won't go too far in before you realize it's a dead end or private property.
I like that there is a small designated parking area at the trailhead even though it's in a residential, so you don't have to park in front of anyones property.
Matt T.
Elevation changes, boulder formations, and beautiful views of the pond from many angles. Footing may be challenging for some.
Angel F
The trails are nicely maintained nothing spectacular for views. The dam was disappointing since you can't get down to it. Yellow loop pretty easy. Blue mostly uphill. No breeze today so a bit stuffy there.
Louisa Anne
Beautiful, quiet woods with a lovely view of the reservoir. Paths are narrow but well kept. Lots of shade and small brooks running alongside the path, so bring bug spray.
Paul Brunelle
A beautiful nature walk with rare plant species.
T Baker
Will be making this my weekly trail spot!!!!
Susan Parrillo
Nice easy hike.
jason spooner
Great place to hike but beware of your pets cause I pulled 8 ticks off my dog thru the course of this hike. Luckily I have a tan short haired dog so I could see the ticks as they got on him and pulled them immediately.
Josh Hyman
Excellent nature home for kids, dogs and adults
Andrew DeWolfe
130 Acre Nature Conservancy property with 3 miles of hiking trails through woodland with 30 species of rare plants. This place is beautiful with few visitors. No dogs allowed.
Patrick Laverty
Nice, quiet, well marked trails.
Rebeca Cavalieri
Beautiful and scenic. Not a complete flat ground some climbing is expected but overall an easy trail.
Lotus Blossom
Nice trails through here. Some changes of elevation but very minor. Parking is limited to probably 4 cars.

Nice short hike for kids depending on which trail you pick. I did the one with a two year old with no problems.
Loosenut Behindwheel
I give it 3.5- 4 stars. If you live in the area, it is worth checking out. Lots of ferns but you might want to spray yourself with bug spray before.
The Seeker
Really cool place to hike. Easy hike, well marked and lots to see. Has off street parking.
