Peaceful. Whenever I go there is a lack of people and an abundance of nature. The restrooms are well maintained and parking is easy. ✨ very accessible for my special needs child. With an easy natural slope, walking to the beach was easy for him. Lots of open space for him to be him, without even disturbing the birds. Life jackets stations are a plus.✨

It was a nice park, plenty of picnic areas, restrooms were clean, the shower stalls roomy and free. They also had water jugs for drinking outside of the restrooms. The rangers were very welcoming and helpful. We camped over but there was day use areas. The river was a short walk away perfect for floating and paddle boarding.

The best river beach I've been to in the Portland area. Very busy on the weekends, but enough parking that we were able to find a space, and more than enough beach and nice shade. Beautiful water, good for a swim! I'll be back as often as I can.

Plenty of room to roam around and explore the woods and river. We went for a brief visit, and got a surprise sleet storm, so didn't get to explore as much as we wanted, but will definitely be coming back soon with the fly rods and to do some hiking.

Great park! Easy access and lots of parking. You can hike or hang out on the water. Last time I went they even had a water dispenser right before we went down to the river. Stay hydrated!!

The boat launch area is a great place for both kids & adults . Minimal shade. Close parking , free life jackets , restrooms are clean . Highly recommend!

Love this peaceful and very clean park. The fact that there is no cell service is actually a plus. Getaway from busy life and enjoy nature as well as swimming and hiking. Has playground and the deer are not shy to say hello. Bathrooms are clean and the rangers super friendly.

The park was beautiful surrounded by big trees all around. Very helpful staff and well maintained throughout. Was surprised to see deers roaming within the park. We camped for two days and we enjoyed every bit of our stay. Showers and flushing toilets are available for campers. The river is easily accessible for simple water activities. Pro tip: for a decent mobile network with lte/5g, you need to drive outside the park for 5 miles.

This is a huge awesome park. Close in to Portland just outside Troutdale. Hike, kayak, paddleboard, bike, picnic what have you. You can kayak from Oxbow to Lewis and Clark rec area easily (mind the rapids).

Nice four-season hiking close to town. The bigger loops have a little elevation gain but nothing really steep. The trails get very close to the park roads, so the off-season is a good time to walk here if you want to minimize noise and crowds.

There is a $5 entry fee. Great open area that is clean. Good for picnics BBQ and swimming. Along the river you will find sandy area to lay down. Plenty of shade but might want to bring umbrella. Water level is pretty shallow at first but can drop off suddenly. The water temp was on the cold side but still swimmable. Could be hard to get a parking spot. This visit was taken on Tuesday June 1st 2021

One of the most beautiful scenic campground/state park I've ever been to, lots of trails, day spots with grills and benches , multiple play areas for the kids all along a nice stretch of accessible river front. Support your state parks, oxbow is wonderful and my kids come here all the time.

Awesome place when not bombarded by other people. If you're looking for quiet place this ain't it. Folks will park on your bumper and encroach upon your personal space. If you are a people person, come here! You'll love it! $5 pass and no animals.

Happy Creek day use area and the boat launch both put you right on the river for easy access and pleasant sitting. Good fishing, and you can wade right in. The Ancient Forest is a glorious hike. It's a perfect day use park.

This place looks fantastic. We couldn't do much the first visit because of the heavy rains and the Sandy river was running very fast. Looking forward to some winter Steelhead fishing and hopefully getting on a couple of the trails there for picture opportunities. The air was clean, crisp and pine scented- my kind of area. The park looks very well managed and maintained. Will update this post and put some pictures up soon. Update: We finally got to spend some time here. Set our camper up, was able to get water for the campefrom one of the hose bids available for public use. Purchased fire wood from host and it was under our picnic table when we got to our site. The crew (Metro) keep this facility and camp grounds amazing maintained, the entire staff are friendly and informative of the area and the river. Though it was a little earlier for the winter run still a beautiful area. Eagles are present, deer in the area as well as other wildlife. This is definitely a highly recommended stop on my list from now on. We are planning another trip already for our son's sixteenth birthday.

This is a great park to visit and camp at - it's far enough away from Portland to allow for peace and beautiful stars at night, yet close enough to be a quick trip back to civilization. I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Portland. I found this to be the closest campground to Portland that wasn't specifically for RV's. I stayed on a Thurs & Fri night in September and it wasn't crowded at all - most sites were empty. The bathrooms here are really clean and warm, they have showers with hot water, and best of all - security at night! The park gate closes at 8pm and a security guard is on duty for the night. This level of security offers a real peace of mind. There is no service available here, allowing for true un-plugging. They also have life jackets hanging near entries to water which I found to be a nice amenity. The park itself is nice enough but my 5-star rating is really for the camping - I would certainly recommend this campground for anyone looking to camp close to Portland.

Park has variety of recreational opportunities including open and covered picnic areas, campgrounds, play structures, trails for hiking, bicycling or horseback riding, beaches for fishing, and a boat launch. Restrooms with pit or flush toilets are available in various locations. Those we looked in were clean and well maintained. Parking appeared to be mostly gravel. Fee is $5 per car. There is a self pay machine at the entrance station. It is supposed to take cash or credit card. It crumbled and returned the two bills I tried to insert several times. A credit card took about 6 attempts with "unable to read". The person before me took 3 attempts with a credit card. A receipt is issued to put on your dash board. Free brochures for day use and camping are available at the entrance station. Trails are dirt or gravel. Trails are unmarked. There are maps posted at some of the trailheads. No signs at trail intersections indicating name of trail, destination or distance. Some trails are not on the map. Single letter trail marker signs are in several locations that can help find your location in conjunction with the map. Some trails are not open to horses or bicycles. Pets are not allowed. Cell service is spotty. A few emergency phones are provided. There were a lot of water spigots around, some in odd places. Some worked, some did not. Campgrounds and picnic areas had bbq's and a table. The trail on the south side of the road passes through forests covered in moss. The trail north of the road has great views of the Sandy River.

Amazing place to hike near and far, do some fishing, have lunch, or just hang out and enjoy nature. Parking is plentiful with the roads, markers, and trails kept up nicely and with care. This is a great spot to come with the kids for the afternoon that isn't too far of a drive out of town. Parking is $5/car and $7/bus, with card or exact cash taken at the machine. Visit Metro's website for free parking days throughout the year or to get a $40 yearly parking pass, which is what we are planning on after just one afternoon spent here with the kids.

Park gate is locked every evening at 8pm. This is inconvenint for those that like exploring the area. While they have rangers on duty until 11pm, they don't "guarantee" you'll be able to enter after the gate is locked. Also, the road to the campground is very long. There's over 2.5mi between the gate and the first camp sites.

A true hidden gem! Not too far away from "town" makes it an easy get away The staff were all friendly and helpful. The only negative for us was the maintenance man using a leaf blower Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning. We went for peace and quiet. Wasn't enough to keep us away but a bit disappointing.

Great place for a day trip for the whole family. It has multiple playgrounds and play structures, nature trails, and access to the Sandy River. They have a 'no pets' policy to protect the multitude of plant and animal wildlife in the area. No alcohol is also the rule and they do patrol for this. Campgrounds are well maintained but be aware some sites are smaller than others and only have room for one or two tents. If you are a light sleeper be sure to bring earplugs as airplanes fly over frequently due to proximity to the Portland International Airport. For large groups there are reservable sheltered day use areas and also group camp areas. If conditions are good you may see salmon in the water, even the occasional sturgeon. Water is cold, deep and swift in areas so be careful. Cell signal is spotty thoughout the park, but why would you need that when you have nature all around? Enjoy!

Serene, lush green and chilly in April for camping. But, a beautiful spot, well worth an overnight stay or day trip. Plenty of picnic spots and hiking trails. Next to the river, birds all around, definitely worth taking your binoculars!

Used to love this place. Sadly the river has washed away alot of trails over the years. They do try to rebuild new trails just to have them wash away too. They built a welcoming center. It's a joke. Mostly office space. Not really anything to see.

I ride my horse here. Sandy river access, beautiful views, huge trees, rain forest appeal. Deer are all over, bald eagles, & beavers. Horses are NOT allowed in the main park, camping areas, or some trails. You do not turn left & head into main park as you do for camping. The horse trail head is at end of rd straight from Division st. Limited parking in private neighborhood. Please pick up manure left on the residents street.

Absolutely love this place- quiet, clean, 3 diff playground to go to, one good spot is safe shallow area for little kids to swim with water shoes. Lots of Deers 🦌, woodpeckers & squirrels. This campground feels like a complete immersion in the wilderness, but it's a short drive from the city, you can almost get here by city bus. Great trails, fabulous river with good floating for hot days

Park was beautiful as always... used the Eagle day use facility.... this is a great spot if you have a smaller group with kids... bring you beach buckets and shovels for the awesome sand feature next to the reserved area..

A great place to take your children. It is quiet beautiful and adventurous. The river that runs through the park is great just to lay out and listen to the water do a little bit of fishing or little bit of swimming. You can go kayaking canoeing Oar rafting. The first four or five camping sites are mainly for RV or camper not really for tent. Doesn't have much covering if any. They have over 70 Campsites. The forest has some small sequoias and a lot of other evergreens with deer Moss with A lot of ferns. It's a pretty whimsical Park .

We parked by the boat ramp and set up our spot on the sandy beach. It was a lovely day even if the water is still a little cold. Bathrooms with soap for washing hands and at the top of the hill. One (!?) picnic table in the shade but plenty of sunny open areas for fun. My phone had no service at Oxbow, my carrier is t-mobile.

Clean, blue water. Ample swimming spots both up and downstream make this a destination for families, kayakers and anglers. The $5 dollar entrance fee is a small price when you consider the amenities. This is one of the best kept parks in Oregon. They have clean bathrooms, life jackets for all ages (free) and even encourage guests to use their trash bags to keep the area clean. And clean it is.

Great place to walk rain or sunshine. Usually see a deer or two somewhere along the trail. There is a $5 charge. There are a lot of fun trails to explore and some great potential picnic/lunch spots. Restrooms are closed, but there are porta potties around. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sandy River is beautiful. Blessed to live in pac nw.

We had a great time at Oxbow with two littles. I do wish trails for beach access were marked on the maps they hand out when you pay for parking. Otherwise, it was beautiful and relaxing.

This park is huge, set alongside the Sandy River. Multiple hiking paths, as well as some biking paths can keep one busy all day! Of course, there's the river. I especially appreciate the park having multiple life jackets on hand for water safety.

We stayed here 8 nights over the past two weeks and I will say this place is a gem, clean quiet and beautiful natural setting with good hiking trails and of course the Sandy River. Things that we feel could be improved on: trim trees along roadway into camping area as it can be tight for a bigger motorhome, change your gate closure times or provide pass code to campers for later arrivals after 6:00pm. We found the gate closure policy to very limiting and quite honestly this is the first place out of all the campgrounds (state,federal,private) we’ve stayed at across the country that regulates access so stringently, hence the 3 stars.

We had a nice day on the river, did a bit of fishing, but mostly hanging out. There were lots of people there, but we still found some space where we could hang out without people around. It looked that under the right conditions this would be a good place for fishing. There was lots for kids to do there, and for them to stay entertained. Lots of kids had built some rock bridges using the flat river rocks, and my kids helped with this construction. lots of other people were on floats on the river, going down the mild rapids, floating into the deep water, then back again.

I won’t even take off a star for the fact they don’t allow dogs. This is a wild and beautiful park you might think came out of a Miyazaki movie. There is space for half of Portland to be here, one would think. Room to exist; room to gather; room for solitude. Hiking; fishing; disc golf; no cell service.

Facilities are only partially open but it's hard to tell why they haven't opened completely. It looks like they're low on staff. The place is still lovely - family friendly, quiet, a lot of wildlife and access to the Sandy river. Camping includes parking - the parking pass is the receipt clipped to the site. Currently a burn ban. No problems with mosquitos! Parking is tight on the weekends in the park.

Hard to believe how BIG this park is! Lots of great swim spots all throughout and the best part is that there are loaner life jackets hanging on posts at many of the parking areas. Looking forward to checking out the camping area soon!

Absolutely beautiful. Exactly the kind of escape my family needed from the busy day to day. The trails were easy enough that my 15 month old could walk with minimal need to be carried. Do not recommend bringing a stroller. Plenty of access areas to the river. Quiet and peaceful

Great park. Wish the playgrounds were open. If bars and restaurants and schools can be open then there's no reason but laziness to leave them closed. The CDC has stated clearly that it isn't spread from surfaces. Outdoor areas are safe with a little distance and masks. Open the damn playgrounds. Turn the water back on.

A nice trail to hike for all, sandy river flowing on the side, abundant parking space. You can do fishing, swimming or kayaking too if you are into it or stay for camping. 5$ fee for parking so I'd say it's a good place to go for some fun and leisure time.

Fun family beach with no cell phone distractions. Clean and easily accessible. Great nature discovery park for the kids in addition to the playground. Wish there was a life guard on duty at the boat ramp, very scary to see people in the water not wearing life jackets with the drop off and swift currant, especially after having multiple drownings.

Came here to let kids play on playground. Paid the 5$ and drove to the playgrounds to find they are closed and blocked off still. Drove back out and left my ticket I purchased minutes before for someone else to use.. All other park playgrounds in the area are open. We then went to dodge Park and eagle fern park. Their playgrounds are open and clean. Besides the bummer of no playground use, the park is pretty.

Very clean, quiet park. More family centered than for young, single adults. A little bit strict on their rules: no alcohol, no pets, quiet time strictly enforced at 10pm, and the park is patrolled every hour. They only accept card payments for firewood purchases; first time that I have ever run into that situation. Overall, though, a nice park with quick access to the river.

I loved oxbow. Beautiful scenery. We walked a trail. We camped there and really enjoyed it. Our campsite came with a grill and a fire pit. They have bathrooms some with bathrooms and some without. They also have life jackets available. Please be aware that the current at the same Sandy River is pretty strong and several people have drowned. Be cautious! Great place to visit! Going again next year

Lovely place! The boat ramp has a good area to swim and my littles had a nice and safe area to wade in the Sandy river. We just went for the day, and didn't camp so I can't speak to their camping. They are very strict about their "no dogs allowed" policy, so don't bring your pup! That was a plus for us because we didn't have to worry about little feet stepping in dog poop.

Great place near Portland for either a day trip or camping. The river is slow moving in several spots and they've got plenty of life jackets, so it's a great spot to take the kids for swimming. The water access areas do get a bit crowded, so choose your spot carefully (especially now, during COVID-19). Lots of shaded hiking trails to take in the first, as well. I'd recommend bringing along mosquito repellent for those, at they're pretty shady with some wet areas.

Campground was really nice and had a lot of sites. The showers were a plus and everything was well kept and clean. They do close the gates around 8pm so make sure you take everything with you because the gates don't reopen until the morning. Quiet hours start at 10pm so not great if you plan on bringing a large group. Great access to the river and there is a camping fee and day fee you had to pay for around $25 for one day

There is so much to this place! Must go back. Also, I should've worn water shoes for the rocky bottom in the river. Beautiful afternoon in the water and on the shoreline! We found a pulloff, parked, and followed a jungle path to the water. I brought my tube and floated through mini rapids. Can't wait to return and enjoy the rest of the park.

A great place to take your family to camp, especially for "beginners". Very clean restrooms and camp sites, lots of access to water, and free showers! Firewood is available on site for a nominal five dollars. The only downside was no cell phone service despite it's close proximity to Gresham, and some air traffic noise. I'd take my family here again, no question. Be aware of the gate closure times if camping overnight. And on weekdays firewood is available upon special request only (park rangers are friendly and patrol often throughout the day, so this isn't a problem).

This city park offers easy trails for hiking, camping, picnic areas, and small beaches to enjoy the Sandy River. It's usually packed on summer weekends due to its proximity to Portland and Gresham, so if you go during hot days, you'll be joining dozens of families. There are some smaller pull-outs that don't have so much room for big parties of children so explore a little if you want some privacy! Oh and no dogs, I believe.

Lovely trails, good fishing, and a nice little beach at Happy Creek in the summer (it's currently under several feet of water after all the rain over the last few weeks). I enjoy quiet time spent here, and though I love animals, it's nice not to have to deal with doggy doo on the park grounds. I'm not native to the area, so I was overjoyed to find Oxbow last year. But it's a well-known spot and can get quite crowded when the weather's nice.

This was an amazing camping area. Right as my friends and I pulled into a campground, 3 deer came up to us out of nowhere. It was a really nice experience. The views here are amazing and being fairly close to the river means there is some really nice ambient noise. The river is beautiful and the surrounding area of the campgrounds was just as nice. I will definitely be coming back to explore the area more.

Great place, feels remote but convenient and accessible. Be prepared for the narrow winding up and down road along the river, and to the campground! There are showers and restrooms with running water, but the park map does not differentiate between these and the more common vault toilets. Salmon still run in this river, and fishing is limited in spawning grounds.

Absolutely gorgeous park. Rules for camping are a little more strict than I'm used to though. I was supposed to have my wedding here in September, but the Eagle Creek wildfire forced the park to close the day before my wedding. The rangers were incredibly helpful in finding us an alternative location(Scouters Mountain Nature Park-which they also run), and making sure we had all the accommodations we needed with little stress. Oxbow Is beautifully maintained and close enough to the city for day trips to the river!!

Beautiful park, nice staff, close to town, but the rules for camping are too strict and limiting. Everyone who is staying must be there by dusk, or they lock the gate. Anyone not staying overnight (but maybe hung out that day and is having dinner at the campsite) must leave by dusk. Only two cars per campsite with no real work around; if a third is parked in an interior lot overnight, they'll get a $60 ticket. No pets and no alcohol.

Beautiful park, well maintained! My only complaint is the equestrian parking. It’s at the end of a pothole, hilly road with a turnaround at the end and the park wants you to park with your truck & trailer on a hill. Which then you end up unloading, tying, and tacking your horse up on the road with cars driving by and a water ditch on one side. If you have a reactive horse this is an unsafe situation. I cannot guarantee my horse(s) will be quiet 100% of the time, they are flight animals after all. There should be an exception for trailers to park on the roundabout where it’s flat. A car still has PLENTY of room to turn around if the driver knows how big/long their car is.

Fantastic State Park nestled in the bend of a river. The camping facilities are quite good - coin operated hot showers, and the Ranger Station offers a Junior Ranger program, which was the first time we had come across it (our daughter loved it). Deer wandered through our campsite one morning and I saw river otters playing in the river on a small hike. Quite a beautiful little spot.

I would say that on the price side, this place is okish. The drive isn't the best to there because there are many curvy roads. So if you have children that get easily car sick, you may want to try a different place. This park in general is very spread out. The smell from the toilets could be very strong depending where actually you sit in the park. During the summer months and when it's very hot, this place is popular for kayakers. However, I do want to mention that when it started to rain, they told us the park was closed at 5pm even though it states it closes at 9pm. So not sure why they said that to us. Would I recommend this place? Yes Would I go here again? Yes

Oxbow is a really nice, well-maintained park. The rules may seem a little strict (no dogs, no alcohol, quiet hours, gate closed at sundown) but it has a really peaceful atmosphere because of it. The forest is beautiful and deer and other wildlife will pass by your campsite throughout the day. Tent sites are spaced comfortably apart and have fire pits, charcoal grills, lantern hooks, picnic tables, and access to restrooms and free showers. The rangers are very friendly and will sell you cheap firewood. I camped here four days and didn't have a single complaint.

I love taking my kids here (I wish I could take my dog, but no dogs except service animals booooo). The new nature play area is super neat. The trails are neat, well maintained and short enough for little legs to enjoy, but still very pleasant and scenic. This is a Very Developed camp ground, so in a way, uber family friendly, or good for camping beginners or casual camping. They sell firewood on site (that's a pretty good deal). Have working showers and plentiful potties. Dont forget to talk to a ranger so your little one can earn their junior ranger badge.

We visited Oxbow Park to fo some fishing, got there around 6:00pm. Found out yhey are closing at 7:00pm due to Covid-19. Spoke with a ranger, very nice and helpful. Drove us to the spot we were looking for and we fished for about half hour. Everyone we encountered were so friendly. We will be back for sure. Looked like some great swimming holes as well.

I had not camped here since 1994 or visited since 2004. The park has been improved a lot from what I remember. Still the same narrow winding road, but enough room to get our 32ft travel trailer down to a pull thru site for a weekend geta way. (No hookups, or dump station). There is a nice group site down by the river. That would be perfect for a group of tent campers willing to walk a little.

I take my children here every year right before school starts, it's our "last hurrah" before summer ends and the daily routines of the school year begin. They love building "rock people" on the beach and hiking the seemingly endless trails through ancient, moss-covered forest. This park never fails to remind me of why our beautiful state is such a special place. Oxbow Park is a great place to walk around and relax if you are looking for something close to Portland. There is a $5 charge to drive in but in my opinion it is well worth it. You can either walk right along the Sandy River or take any other of the numerous trails in the park. It is also a good place to do some fishing. Lots of open space for casting if you are in the right areas. The only thing I do not like is parking can be kind of limited on busy days

Oxbow is such an amazing place, so close into the city. There are great opportunities for fishing, hiking, camping, and all kinds of other activities. I've been going to Oxbow since I was just a small child. It is truly a gem of the area, and a must see for anyone visiting from out of town. There are also ample opportunities to see wildlife. I myself have seen deer, woodpeckers, owls, bald eagles, osprey, chinook salmon, coho salmon, and steelhead.

Good area except when it's crowded, which is the case in many parks. The people complaining about the no-dogs rule could easily learn why instead of claiming it's unfair. Dogs can run off and chase wildlife, and thuggish pit bulls (and their owners) are too common in any event. Many "strict" rules in various parks are due to too many people and too many of them behaving selfishly. They see themselves as the only visitors somehow.

Beautiful park filled with moss covered trees, super lush foliage and vegetation, and a nice little river flowing through it. The camp grounds are well placed, near the river so you can hear the water flowing at night from your tent/camper. Big disclaimer for all campers - the gate closes at sunset and the campsite is about 40 minutes from Portland so you will definitely not be able to go out at night in the city if you are staying here. Each spot comes with a table and a fire pit. There is one main bathroom with four shower rooms and four toilets with running water. While we were camping, two of the shower rooms were closed and one of the remaining two only had cold water and the pressure wasn't great. If you are out on the edge of the campsite then you most likely won't want to walk to the main bathroom at night so there are port-a-potty toilets closer by that you can use. The early closing time and the less than amazing bathroom situation are why this super beautiful park only get three stars from me.

We are both Disabled my wife's Service animal was recently put to rest due to Cancer we had a pup that was in training with us (they did allow the in training service animal in the park) what I found strange is the complete ban of dogs in the park we were from the other side of the country and never saw a State park with a complete ban on pets! This is a beautiful park we had deer walk up to us! This could be a bad thing since they are too comfortable with people they walk up to you to be hand feed? The moral of the story is Pets are not ok but domesticated wildlife (pets) are ok??? The prioritys are mixed up deer can be dangerous especially to small children they should always fear humans! And those Reviewers that obviously hate dogs! Dogs (the lack of) are not the reason the wildlife come up to you! And dogs don't harm the "delicate ecosystem!' do you realize there are Coyotes and Wolves in the woods??? Dogs are very closely related to the Wolf!!! People are the biggest threat to nature! We gather enmass in places like this pretend it's not hurting anything and blame something else like Dogs!?!? I had lived on the West coast in PDX, Eugene, Medford, Klamath falls and have seen the tree hugger additude is still strong out there but it's just a excuse to blame something else for what we Humans are doing to the world it's a mass delusion! Get over yourself

Gorgeous park, friendly staff, clean bathrooms and hot showers with great pressure. I'll definitely be back in the future. My Gf and I were looking for a place to stay so we checked out Ainsworth campground but it was full! We did some research and found oxbow only 30 minutes away. We called around 7:30pm to make sure they still had sites available. Jenna had answered and assured us there were sites available. When we arrived she went over the process with us with a welcoming smile :). We stayed at campground 29 next to the restrooms and showers. The next morning we decided we would stay another night so we asked if site 29 was still available and it was so we requested it again. After we had finished exploring Portland we decided to head back to camp. When we arrived to site 29 someone had taken it over. Lol someone straight up took our campsite over. They didn't even pay or check in at the office. When I went to the office I explained to jenna about what had happened and she radioed in to a ranger to check out why those people are on site 29. As my gf and I were waiting we drove by site 29 and the people had left to go swimming or something but all their camp gear and tent were still setup. We saw the rangers there looking for them but they couldn't really do anything until the showed up back to camp. It was getting late and we were hungry so we just decided to get another campsite. Jenna apologized for everything and checked us in to a different site and even gave us our money back for the inconvenience. I'm truly happy with the customer service this facility has and the staff that works here are friendly and great! Jenna is awesome! The only cons I have is gates glose at sunset so that means if you're not back by sunset you're locked out. Until 7am next morning. No alcohol allowed either. Other than that great park and I'll definitely be back! So glad we found this place!

Campground is well maintained! Flush toilet restrooms, and showers, get muddy, as you have to walk through dirt/mud to get to them. However, camp staff clean, and restock, daily, as well as driving thru often, to keep things in check. They also drive through, daily, selling firewood, so you never have to run out! Bring bug repellant and your own water (their water is "safe," but I am overcautious). They do have outhouse, as well, so choose your site accordingly.

Located not far from downtown Portland, Oxbow is a temperate rain forest wonderland. Oxbow has great beach access to the Sandy River, and even hosts annual events. Though extremely beautiful year-round, it is remarkably stunning in autumn. Look out for the dozens of deer here. Parents of little ones should be cautious though, for the Sandy is notorious for sweeping people away.

We have fallen in love with this place. Beautiful sites and they have lanterns I've never seen those before. no animals but they let us take our Boston terrier cuz he is a therapy dog for my husbands PTSD. All around wonderful grounds. Keep in mind wildlife. The deer will walk right into ur camp to sneak food. And the river is REALLY DANGEROUS. A boy had drowned the day before we got there. So LIFEJACKETS LIFEJACKETS LIFEJACKETS. PLEASE

This is a massive park. Bad cell phone reception so plan ahead. It can be hard to find people in this park if you are meeting up with a group. But if you have time to explore or know where you are going, this is a very beautiful park.

Oxbow is always great but today there was a lot of people headed to the river to beat the heat. 7/27/2020 Because of the pandemic there is no one at the booth, so took extra long, 40 min., as everyone had to get out of the car and use machine.

Oxbow is a NorCal river beach, minus the empty Monster cans and Rainbow flip-flops. The sand is as wide as the river and perfectly flat, meaning prime sprawl area for your floating gear or if you plan to spend the day on the beach, where dogs are outlawed but kids run free. While "Sandy River" is an abbreviation of Lewis and Clark's ominous name, "Quicksand River," the winding waterway is docile here, where you can wade halfway across before getting your armpits wet.
