Reviews of Mill Ruins Park
Quinn Kelley
Mill Ruins Park is super cool and unique I love it! The history of the mill district is so interesting and I like how they have boards placed along the path that have old pictures and information about the mills and the surrounding area from when it was in its heyday. The natural springs still flow through the actual mill ruins and it almost feels like you're in a completely different place down there it's surreal. The parking can be a bit of a pain but it's worth it. This park is right next to a ton of other attractions and parks that are within walking distance so no need to move your vehicle unless you want to!
BourbonJohnson
. The park and museum are of historic and architectural interest. A visit to the Ruins can be a quick stop or a full afternoon of walking the trails and enjoying the museum.
The preservation of the ruins was a welcome change to that area of downtown
Greg Zillgitt
This is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of Minneapolis. Plenty of interpretiive signs. Great location for photography, in fact there was some professional shooting showing on during my visit today.
Ganesh B
5⭐️ for the place and its significance. Must visit if you have 30 min in downtown Minneapolis.
Dropped a star for
1) lack of public restrooms (and misguided information about their alternatives)
2) difficulty of access to the designated parking lot due to closures of roads around it.
brandon louis
Right in the middle of downtown it's really beautiful. The trees line the river and the dam. Nice and safe area to walk and enjoy the summer days
Steve Wall
This used to be a collection of shuttered buildings surrounded by parking lots... now it is a testament to Minneapolis' economic history and international reputation for architecture and design. Come see urban renewal and nature-sensitive restoration done right. ... perfect place for a morning jog or evening stroll... bring a loved one and get to know them and the city a little better 😁!
Darwin Barnes
Nice historical area, we tried to visit the museum but it was closed temporarily the sign said.
Nice to see the old mill from the outside, what is left of it anyway.
So took the paths over to the park area down by the river.
Nice paved trail but up and down hill in a couple of areas but not too bad. The old stone railroad bridge is cool, and there is parts of the old NSP power plant by the river.
Jerome Dinh IFBB Pro
Mill Ruins Park is right between Stone Arch Bridge and Gold Medal Park. Down by the water are some beautiful old Ruins where many people do photography at as well as explore. It's a great little area for walking and enjoy company
Jesse Deol
Great view..poor maintenance..but unique setting if you appreciate the old and new ...not sure if the city realizes how powerful this park can be if maintained properly and revitalized with more flower beds, picnic benches and observation stations..seems like a trivial expense compared to the waste I see in Minnehaha Falls or Boom Island..which are also priceless
Nick Jensen
Followed the heritage trail around the park and had a great walk while enjoying the atmosphere of the ruins, the river, and the city. I wish the informational signs along the way were in better condition. Many of them are faded beyond readability.
Kim Orris
Very pretty in the winter, I imagine it's even better in the warmer months! Cannot wait to visit when the construction is done.
Jennifer Brindley
A great spot for a long walk, refreshing and interesting sights. ❤️ a creative celebration of history.
patrick cannon
What a cool place to hike or jog!! It's a nice "green space" on the banks of the Mississippi below the old Pillsbury mill. The old architecture in combination with the natural wooded areas make this place both scenic and fascinating!
Priscilla Cofresi
Beautiful historic spot to learn a little, walk around and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Christopher Z
Lots to see ! Great place to take pictures and go for a lil hike 🙂 …
Michael Egerton
Pretty cool spot to get out stretch take a walk , dogs , bikes , etc. My luck bridge was under construction so not picture worthy but you can still get great shots of other things/views.
Vennela Oruganti
It's having good walking trail and beautiful view. Water falls from Stone arch bridge is so so beautiful. It's near to Glode Madel Park also
Christine Cartwright
Quiet walkway next to the river. Right now there is a wall of wooden signs that people have written on telling why they love Minneapolis. My favorite part of that wall is that no one has destroyed it, it is left to be enjoyed. So many great messages.
Stefan Herzog
Pretty unique place as far as city skylines and parks are concerned. I live in Kent Washington now but when I come back to Minnesota I always come through this area and admire the stone arch bridge and Minneapolis skyline at night.
R Churches
Decent little park for running or cycling. Dog friendly. About half the people wear masks and half don’t. Lots of ways to get down to the actual river front and a lot of decent food and beverage trucks sitting around and doing business. And yes, true to the name, there are plenty of ruined mills to take photos of.
Jordan Petersen
Scenic, and fun place to spot dogs! The area was also surprisingly clean.
Kay Jay
Nice place to visit. It was snow all around and the wind was cold. Wanted to stay here a little more but wasn't ready for the weather. Next time....
Wade Brinton
A must see park in downtown Minneapolis! I am pretty sure if IT didn’t live in Derry, Maine then IT would for sure live beneath the ruins here. Worth a good stroll in the morning or if you can a good run out on the bridge and around the park.
Christine DeVose-Cowans
The park was just ok. Perhaps I went during the wrong season, Fall. All the plants/trees were bare and not much to see here. Nice stop if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. There are information bulletin posted throughout what good information about the history of the area.
Michelle Krueger
Very cool little park in downtown Minneapolis! Easy to park and walk down to and well worth it to see some of the historic ruins from the city. I highly recommend it for anyone, both visitors and locals alike. You can hit this up itself or in addition to walking the bridge to catch some cool views of the city.
Louis Kiwes09
What a great place to visit. It’s a beautiful place to have a relaxing walk with fam and friends
Meron Demissie
Great experience to run or bike. They have a lot of paved trails that makes it easy to run and bike. It can get busy at times but for the most part unless there is a special event it is not too crowded. Great view of the river!
Terri Bailey
The city has some of the park blocked off and under construction. It also seems like they maybe need to get a crew in to clean up the grounds a little. But overall it's a pretty cool place. Decent signage to tell you what you're looking at and the history of it all. Nothing major "to do" and kids probably wouldn't be interested unless they like history. Paved/metal boardwalk parhways. Near the lock and dam and a stone archway bridge.
D. Graff
Beautiful clean park, amazing scenery right in the heart of the city, especially so in the Fall with the changing leaves.
Epsilon Peters
A great hangout spot. There is free parking once you drive underneath the bridge.
Richard Pederson
Situated on the Mississippi river the park offers views of "Saint Anthony Falls" & historical mills from the "flour milling" days of Minneapolis! There are multiple walking paths & interpretive signs explaining those earlier days of Minneapolis!
Serraya Brautigam
This park is really cool and unique. The remains of the old mills are well preserved and there's a lot of signage explaining the history of the area. It's easily accessible, well maintained, and has a large parking lot (you have to pay for parking though). The park is also very close to many other attractions in the area such as the lock and dam, Gold Medal Park, the Mill City Meausum, First Bridge Park, and of course the Stone Arch Bridge. Glad I checked this place out!
Naofumi Kobayashi
Good historic place. Mixture of the new and the old.
Anna Burnham
I love this place! I'm a photographer and this has a ton of different areas with cool backgrounds to take photos of clients. It's also just a fun place to walk around and be outside. There are plenty of parking areas available and it is pretty easy to get to.
Kiara Pederson
Such a cool opportunity! Rich history along the mighty Mississippi.
Susan O
Great walk. Will return with the right shoes.
Dan Nelson
The mill ruins Park was rather informative. We went there just to kill time... My wife informs me that she had planned to go there I did not know that. My daughter says what else are we supposed to do all day. We took the tour that takes you up and down an elevator and tells you about the story bell flower tower. Afterwards we saw a 20-minute film on Minneapolis. Dot-dot-dot the history of Minneapolis. They also had a small Cafe where you could have lunch beer and wine yo. However my family would not let me stop and have beer or wine. They wanted to go have some ice cream at Izzy's Ice Cream Parlor
Benny Guajardo
TARGET FIREWORKS DISPLAY NIGHT… MINNESOTA IS OUT HERE TONIGHT GREAT ATMOSPHERE MN NICEEEEE
Joane Gerken
Awesome park for biking or walking. Some really fun places to visit and learn about the mill ruins. Plenty of historical markers with photos to read and look at.
Lisa Williams
Beautiful and unique. I absolutely loved coming here, even as a Minneapolis native. I would highly recommend you come and check it out, especially when the weather is good!
Laughing Lady
Amazing! I think this is part of or close to the beginning of where the Mississippi river begins and has a Mills history. In the snow it was all breathtaking. I loved it. Beautiful!
Charan Chitirala
You get a really good view of the reservoir and trial is beautiful with the views of the river. You can see many different landmarks. The place is perfect for cycling, walking and exploring nearby restaurants.
Jeni O'Malley
The Mill ruins park is beautiful. Great views of the water, other walkers, and the amazing Mill City Museam. Great for a walk or a picnic
Jessica Torrez-Jerkovich
It's a nice walk around and over the river. They have plaques that give the history and some photos of how
Review Qween
I highly recommend visiting this park! It took us back in time. Absolute breath taking views.
Mike Martin
Nice views of the Mississippi, and the locks.
Reuben L Correa
Really fascinating and informative place. Perfect for getting exercise and enjoying the great outdoors and seeing the beauty of the river.
Stephen Cunningham
I can't put into words how stunning this park is from a designer's perspective. The preservation of all the historical aspects of this park is beautifully done. This is a must see for any first time visitor of Minneapolis!
Moe Graphy
Energetic place and good view trail. They have upper and lower trails as well, both are worth to see. It will take approximately total 1.5hrs to complete the sight scene if you are slow walkers. +$2/hr parking.
Jake Hansen
Beautiful scenic walking/bike trail, historic architecture, access to parks, sculptures
There is limited parking, but my family enjoyed parking on Nicolette Island and walking along the Mississippi River trail to the park.
Dustin Nelson
A beautiful part of downtown!
Abby Lantzer
Not your average walk in a park! The delicate, "fragile" mill ruins make for a great contrast with the harsh, territorial crowd. If you have to be stuck outside walking in the cold dead of Winter 4.4 in the Great state of the Lakes and the "Nice"ness, there should could be a heck of a lot worse. Seems to be partially wheelchair accessible as well.
Word of Advice :
Bring your smiles,
And a knife!
SRUTHI SASIDHARAN
Beautiful view and perfect contrast. Icy rivers and a bridge. Well maintained too
Frank Topar
It was AWESOME to see a portion of 'old' Minneapolis. Sites we've not seen in the 20+ yrs we've lived here.
queenalicia2010
Great weather! Great family outing, today! 🙏🏾🎄💜💋 Tis' the season! …

If you are in Minneapolis downtown you must take a walk in this park. Mill ruins are impressive and also Minnesota rover area all around is nice. Mill has its own museum, but Sunday opened too late for me.
Elisa Cortes
It's very nice and relax. Perfect for visit in family
Jearise M. Havenga
What a beautiful walking area! The piano is in tune and you can actually play it. I felt like I was part of a romance movie and the leading man would start playing it any minute.
Mariam A
Loved this place! First time coming here and every corner was beautiful.
Eric Schultz
Even know we're not in a pandemic still, I'm pretty sure that OVERCROWDING of these beautiful area's that are free to the public in all people need to NOT pack the open area to the point where your not even able to stay at a decent distance from one another. Sorry but DONT TOUCH ME PLEASE PEOPLE!
Jirsa Paints
One of my favorite pitstops in Minneapolis for a skate along the river. Gorgeous views and shady trails make for a lovely adventure and fun exploration in the heart of the city.
Houston Ward
Super cool area. Great for a lazy afternoon stroll, or an early morning run. Plenty of good eats in the area too!
Emmanuel Mate-Kodjo

The stone bridge is an eye catcher, looks good for a lazy walk, run etc, I didn't have time to walk down the ruins, you can have a good look from the bridge as well

Michael Calhoun
Great place to get outdoors downtown. Walking, biking or running it's a cool park where Minneapolis all started.
D Gralik
I liked this stop very much. It was my first time visiting the Stone Arch Bridge and Mill Ruins Park and it would have helped to have better directional signs. I came for the Bridge and found the park as a bonus! I wasn't really sure where to walk at first from the parking area. The meter did not work properly so i had trouble to pay at the kiosk. It was a rainy day but that didn't stop people from running, walking and riding bikes. I did walk across the bridge, over the river and dam area and around (?) Father's park area also... with construction on the bridges I didn't do the full walk around as seen on some of the guides maps. Over all a reccomendation to stop and explore and maybe see the mill Museum nearby. I didn't have enough time but would consider stopping again on a nice day... there are lots of interesting things to check out on a walk.
Tommy Dyson
Cool place to take a walk and check out the old mill site and ruins. Take a walk across the stonearch bridge too.
Ashley Youngs
Beautiful views, food trucks, historical sites, walking, running and biking lanes, public bathrooms, parking and activities all summer long. Head on down.

Great little park on the Mississippi. Getting there was pretty easy and parking was good, though the lot is small. Wonderful walk across the river to more park and opportunity to visit the ruins of the cities historic mills.

Best part was the lock and dam visitors center. Gives you a cool view of the lock (which is now closed (sense 2015)) and alot of cool history about it too
nandish bellad
It's very good park near a downtown, which will feel we are out of downtown area due to river and a trekking track. The stone arch bridge is next to this park.
Elena Budilovsky
Nice historical place with pretty views on old mills, Guthrie theater and Mississippi river

Why a 5 star? The night scenery is amazing here. A simple walk but worth it if close by.

Enjoyable place for a walk.
See the mill, the hydroelectric dam, and city skyline. Stop for lunch along St. Anthony Main. Walk into Guthrie to grab some photos from the yellow room. Get lots of pictures by the bridge. :)

Lizaveta Bobrovnikov

Nicholas Reichl
Great fun place!! Lots to look at an enjoy!
Randall Thurman
They are doing what looks to be a major face lift to the bridge. A road closures caused a detour off the great river drive which can throw your navigation program off. I probably would have skipped this. However if you're really into the history of this bridge and the river walk you may enjoy it more.
Chris Ross
Quintessential Minneapolis view from another Landmark- The Stone Arch Bridge. When you first see the Ruins you see building damage but it's kinda a mind trick cause actually the buildings have been strengthened and revitalized.
M C

I'm a big fan of this spot and have been going here for years. Perfect for a date, a walk, run, a place to clear your head or to just take in the city. The ruins are interesting and well taken care of. Parking is tough at times and it is not free but what can you do? Makes me love the city
Thomas Jones
Great city park, fireworks during annual Aquentennial Celebration.
Stephen Paulson
I love this park. Great for walking around and uncovering some Minneapolis history.
Lori Koppie
Very nice place to walk through on a weekend afternoon
Jayde Moon
This park is a must for visitors. Located in the center of the downtown it is close to most hotels in the area. The walk across the Stone arch bridge is self takes roughly 25 minutes, with viewing platforms along the path for visitors to stop and take in the view of the city's skyline at your leisure. There are bike and scooter rental stations on either side of the river and no matter which side you access the bridge from you won't have trouble finding near by local vendors with great snacks or entire menus. The dam that no longer operates is now open between memorial and labor day in the warm months for tours. During those months you can find DNR officers standing to answer any question a person might have about the dam before during and after its operation. The sound of the falls, the sight of the rebuilt highwya 35w bridge light up and the cool warm breeze make this spot a great place for a summer evening visit!!
Rebecca E.

One of my favorite places, but where did all the vendors go? I haven't seen the donut truck or been able to buy a water or lemonade. The vendors added something special and now it's just missing.

elizabeth nyambura
Took family pictures.. very scenic
Ron Pink
Amazing new, restored and reimagined neighborhood. I wish I could afford to live here
Isaac L
Interesting and unique. It's not large at all (very much a small downtown park.) Basically, it is much like the other riverside parks along the pedestrian trail that follows the river, except for the mill. Still, because of the mill, it's very scenic - a neat spot to stop by if you're in the area.
Rasna Kc
Beautiful place. love walking around here
Quinn Line
I love walking here. Probably the best part of downtown! The Stone Arch Bridge and these ruins give the area a great vibe.

This is a great place to walk, people watch, and walk/pet your/other people's dogs. The bridge goes over to the other side of the park, and there are restaurants and coffee shops to go on a cute little city date with your significant other. Fun to ride your bike on, as well.
gadamsetty sneha
Mill Ruins Park is a cute park which is one side of the Stone Arch Bridge. The name says it all. It is in a location which has a lot of history. The place is nice for a walk or jog or even to hang out with family. It is also close to the university area. Summer is good time and it gets a bit chilly towards Fall.
Cari Hanson
It is a very nice place to walk.
Emeril Rusinyak
Absolutely beautiful.
Such a peaceful place.
Day or night, simply perfect.
Michael Struffert (TheJallie)
Did some photography and video it's a great place with history. Flood waters are starting so water is flowing well at the dam. Recommend coming mid to late April or May as that is when the green starts to come in.

A nice place along the river banks. Many things to do in the area and bridge crossings to connect you to the north side of the river for even more options of activities and dining. Plus some great views of the city and the old ruins that make a large part of the cities history.

Beautiful place any time of the year
Duane Bauer II
Fun place to go, a nice west bank park off the Mississippi river. The best part is the lock and dam. The staff and volunteers are wonderful and insightful. Very knowledgeable in their respective fields. The only drawback was the young adult or older kids raising a ruckus around the park for attention.
Mark Esslinger
This is a crossroads of both bike and walking paths but also for the city (downtown) and U of M (across the river. Good food nearby, sometimes there are events and live music. Great views of St Anthony falls and the Missippi river. Overall vibrant place to hang out.
Jeannie Nikolaisen
Went on a walking tour and learned about the area. Really cool to see, but even better to have someone tell the history of it. There are signs along the bridge and way that have historical information as well
Mariana Ferguson
Great view! Nice place to take your family or pets for a walk or just to relax!!
benjamin bryan
Historically this place blew up because flour dust ignited and caused a explosion strong enough to completely destroy a building and bend all the metal outwards..... it's very awe inspiring to think about that while walking around the ruins of a old flour mill. Great place for a evening walk....
Irina Fedorova
A very cool place where you can walk past the ruins whole being in the city. You are discouraged from climbing on them. Worth seeing. Right under the stone arch bridge as well if you're interested in a longer walk.
Carl Erhart
Great place to walk around and enjoy the scenery.
Bruce Blacketter, Jr
Loved it. Was there for the Aquetennial fireworks, so I can't speak to the normal traffic. The energy was great and the park was a wonderful backdrop for a great night.
Tivoli Sharp
Beautiful views, pleasant walk
NAT NEYUGN
A good time with family and friends
Stewart Ramsay
Beautiful and historic. If you like the river, history, ruins, or seeing feats of engineering from another era you will enjoy this. Kid friendly lots of walking paths and a visitor center. Great views of the river and locks.
Jessica Wolff
Super cool place! Really good views of the city and its an easy walk. Definitely a highlight of our visit!
Tia Zoelle
A beautiful mix of city, ruins, and nature. Well kept and clean. Bring your, dog, family, and friends. You can see the dam from halfway on the stone arch bridge so you can come from either direction. Mill ruins is on the south end and often has a tea or summer treat truck.
Milton Lopez
Beautiful walks with my family.
Luke Dulgar
Love this park for walks after the Guthrie or dinner, sunny days out. Lots of folks out just for exercise, a trip across the Stone Arch Bridge into NE or along the river. Great views and photo ops of lights, downtown and 35W bridge at dusk.
Sandra Presley-Patterson
Great place to explore the historical areas of the Mill Ruins Park and the Mississippi River.
Brian S
It's a very nice park that is excellent for a short walk with gorgeous views of three Mississippi river. The lights from the nearby 35W bridge at night are a great touch. There's easy bicycle access to the river parkway trails and plenty of parking.
srinivas Ashokkumar
Nice place for a sunny walk
steve grand
Interesting history, stone arch bridge is great
Douglas Eisenlohr
So pretty and stone arch bridge is beautiful to walk out. While your there go to gold medal park and walk to the top of the hill for one of the best views in the city
Michael Green
Stone arch bridge and mill ruins park are a great option for tourists and visitors. Excellent sightseeing and photo-op opportunities.
Michael Gauer
Ugly tie 5k! Fun run!
Rowan Forrester
A walk or bike ride along the old rail boards behind the mills of historic Minneapolis/St. Paul. Beautiful curves bridge built in a curve - an engineering feat at the time. The park is lined on the other side of the walk by such attractions as the Mill City Museum, built in the ruins of one of the old mill buildings; the Sea Change restaurant, and the fabulous Guthrie Theatre - one of the very best outside of NYC. Great place for a stroll with an afternoon dateheading, heading in to see a show in the evening, or just feeling like something refreshing with the feel of a smaller city in a time when 'urban' wasn't yet synonymous with 'hassle.'
Grace Wilsmann
Beautiful park, not a lot of people at around 4:00pm when we went. There are some nice pathways around there as well as a diverse skyline with all different kinds of architecture. It really shows Minnesota culture in a nutshell.
Daniel Drechsel
A staple of the Minneapolis experience. The atmosphere does change quite a bit at night however so be aware of your surroundings.
Rebecca Miniscalco
Great historic park along the scenic river! There are some pay lots, but you can also find free parking if you are willing to walk to the park (which it totally worth the views along the river).
Stacey Carpenter
History is great, but the train and tracks inside the building are cool. Has a nice cafe that's kind of hidden, and nice little gift shop with Minnesota/Minneapolis local types of interesting finds. Also near the farmers market!
Bobbe Wright
A feast for the eyes as you walk, bike or drive by.
Kristie Carter
This is a small, slightly hidden park between the Stone Arch Bridge and the Guthrie. If you are in downtown for a day, here's what you do. Go to the Mill City Museum (ride the Flour Tower, it's fantastic), and then go down to the Mill Ruins Park. There are some lovely ruins with greenery all spread about, and you can take some beautiful photos and read interesting things about Minneapolis' past. You'll spend 20 or so minutes here. Then, turn around and walk up the Stone Arch Bridge (it is right there). You can see the Mississippi under you, and it is gorgeous. Walk across the river to St. Anthony Main, which has some more lovely walks, as well as bars and cafes. Grab some food. Walk back over and see a show at the Guthrie Theater. You can't have a better day than that.
SightseeingSally
Cool ruins of old abandoned flour mill have been incorporated into a nice green space in Minneapolis. A must stop if you enjoy seeing old relics, architecture, or historical sites. No entrance fees, the park is free.
Megan Kors
Great place for taking photos! Highly recommend going on a beautiful sunny day to get a topnotch experience of the beautiful rushing water. Also there are plenty of other place to check out while you are in the area like the market on Saturday!
Claire Gover
Good bit of history but lacks seating and shade.
Joel Coffino
It was a pleasant day to be in the area. We did not get a chance to walk the stone arch bridge this time. Which is a great part of the area.
Stacy Wosika
It has some history why it's called mill ruins? You can see some building destroyed by Mill exploded.
Steven Xiong
Glamourous river-side & magnificent buildings lighting views with lots of biking & walking paths. Lots of different angles for viewing on the Mississppi River. Great place to take a troll with a date in any time of the day and/or night. Requires Parking Lot Fee with is payable @ the on-site pay booth.
Christopher Wright
This is a sensational bike ride—12 miles one way from Hopkins. Bike trails all the way. Great spots(Aster, Day Block, Wilde cafe and lots more Nearby Washington Av with more great stops from the West Bank to the North Loop. . Pack lunch or bring takeout. Poke around the ruins of the mill’s waterworks and Father Hennepin park across the river.
MY Mulla
A must see when on MN. You can take a peaceful loop walk along the Hennepin bridge for a good Vista about 3.5 miles. Trail is next to Mississippi River. Also go down next to the river for a small nice hike.
Simon White
Nice place to go and relax. Could read your book without any kind of interruptions. Want a nice place to sit and visit, or whatever you want to do, visit here.
Taylor Kleppen
This park is one of the most unique in the area!
Joseph White
We enjoyed the view from the balcony of the theater
Thom Lofquist
I am a long time resident and have never taken the time to explore the area. You can walk a long way or a short way walking across the Mississippi River on the Stone Arch Bridge. The skyline views are pretty much the best Mpls. has to offer. It's great during the day and it seems safe at night. Once across take it all in from a perfect spot at one of the many pubs and restaurants at St. Anthony Main.
Scott Wozniak
We enjoyed walking on the paths and boardwalks, looking at the ruins and informational signs. We even saw some wildlife in the water!
Jordon Fiske
One of my favorite parks around the cities. Just a fun place to explore and check out some history
Sridhar Iyer
Nice views of the city and good history on the development of Minneapolis from a city that was the last army camp on the northern frontier to a megapolis.
Nic Lang
Very clean very safe wonderful place to go for a walk with your family or four-legged friend. A lot of history in this place. Great spots for photography. Lots of beautiful areas to stop at.
Neu Drewski
Interesting walk & checked out the remains of the old mill, crossed the stone arch bridge. Lots of signa on the bridge describing the history.
Manoj Gahiwal
Short and sweet. Add on to stone bridge
Cheryln Gibbs
Mills Ruin Park has great walking trail along the Mississippi River with a beautiful view of historic landmarks. We toured "The Locks" and enjoyed learning the history. This was my first time to Minneapolis and I fell in love with the city.
Mac Broadway
As you stroll through the park you see restored walls of older mills that once fed the mouths of Minnesota. To power the mills they dug many tunnels & channels through the cliff sides, for H₂0 to grind wheat to flour. Some channels are still accessible. Many have been collapsed or covered over, but their remains are still visible in the park.
💦 A fascinating place for an historical stroll even on a hot summer day.
Maricely Vega
Nice place to walk. It needs a kiosk or a fast food to drink water, coffee or a coke. Bring your bottle of water and if you want to stay more time, bring your basket and a throw for a picnic
Muamer Husnic
Wonderful walk bridge to cross. Viewing sunsets here are extraordinary. Amazing place for pictures. Downtown skyline viewable from here as well as many other attractions.
Shawn Fahrmann
This is during the draw down. Old tail races I believe.
Kimberly Hartman
Beautiful area to walk or bike ride also to take pictures nice views of the river and city!
Lydia Dobberstein
Many historical things to learn and see while walking around.
William Tomczyk
Here's the million dollar question. Does Walmart encourage people to not wear masks or is it the kind of people who shop there are anti mask? I haven't been to any other large retail store that even comes close to non mask wearers. Hmmmm. I wonder. Either way if you want to shop without a mask this is the store for you. Plus you can play a game with the kids. Counting non mask wearers. Fun for the whole family!
Heather Purrington
It's like being in a whole different city as you feel detached from the city and brought back I time.
Ha.Pe03 Ymail
There is a protected bike lane covering the entire loop. Seeing the history of the flour milling industry and how it shaped the city of Minneapolis and the Mississippi River is pretty cool. The signage for pillsbury and gold medal flour is maintained and lights up at night. If this is your first trip to the twin cities I'd recommend the loop in warmer weather or bundle up. The paths are well maintained and there are informational plaques the entire way.
Chad S
Great site on the river just east of downtown Minneapolis. Interesting pieces of mills about and still mostly standing as well. Walk along the river and visit the locks (seasonally). Parking is charge, but public areas are free.
iTravel
Came here yesterday for the Target Fireworks. One of the best in our nation. Perfect location to be in Mill Ruins Park. On normal day, it's a nice area to walk around, watch the river or just simply admiring Minneapolis.
Cristian Arias
Nice ruins
Well kept
Sue Leibert
NPS volunteers at the lock and dam site added so much to the visit. Great job and fun stop on the Heritage Trail
Sean Olstad
A nice quiet place in the middle of Minneapolis!
Camrin Hatchett
Beautiful scenery and walkways. Nice to be up close to Minneapolis history alongside the Mississippi River. Best time is to go in the mornings when it more mellow; not a lot of people out yet.
Jane Tomczak
It very cool ruin mill to check out, nice river near. Have long walking, biking, jogging, running trail. There have a lot park for you to parking. Have museum also. Nice view !
Heather Friedli
I love the view from the Stone Arch Bridge! You can feel the breeze off the falls! My only complaint is how busy the foot traffic gets across the bridge.
Kevin Chad Montrelle
Beautiful view from the park. Very interesting historical and hidden gems!
Patrick Villacorta
Honestly, I wasn't paying much attention to Mill Ruins Park. I went there to mostly get good views of Stone Arch Bridge. There is more to see though with interpretive signs, trails and the ruins themselves. A good view of the ruins is from the Stone Arch Bridge, which I sadly missed.
Jeanine ZP
It's a nice stroll. But there is nothing to eat or drink anywhere close to the area. There are a few expensive restaurants a few blocks away and a trailer offering over priced smoothies. If you have kids bring drinks and snacks.
Benjamin Gipson
When it comes to a downtown River City scape, this place has one of the most unique and beautiful views. With old architecture remodeled with new features, every building has the tales of history while bringing life to a great city.
Tina Gibson
Wow! If you like walking, jogging, biking, site see this is great area to enjoy outdoor time along the river.
Frank Wiles
I like history and this place most definitely provided a little of that. Interesting how two powerful flour companies were on opposite sides of the river.
Sue Raherimanjato
Beautiful area with the water restaurants bridges to walk on
Jennalee Farrow
Seen the fireworks the other night was amazing
alec schuller
I love to come here and see the sites and be alone but it's also a place to go with friends. Really the best part of Minneapolis.
Tim Weinberg
A great big city park. You can walk around the ruins and stone Arch bridge. Always something going on around the park, either the farmers market during the summer or it's right next the Guthrie theater. Parking is the only downfall, not much if there is something going on in downtown Minneapolis on the side of the city. A nice starting spot for a walk, run or bike. A must stop in the summer
Mark Mehr
It's really nice that the city made it a park with some history behind it.
Sir Carl G. Hensel, II
Love walking my dogs in this area! Beautiful sites and sounds - view the Stone Arch Bridge and the ruins of The Mill District Downtown Minneapolis. Plenty to enjoy!
Rachel Rosebrook
Great little park in the heart of Minneapolis. Sitting on the West bank of the Mississippi river, Mills Ruins Park offers views of the falls, easy access to the pedestrian arch bridge and a neat dose of history. But, aside from patches of grass, a couple of concrete blocks to rest upon, and some infrographics, there isn't much else available in the park. Head over to the other side of the bridge for some great picnicking.
Gabriella Israel Grinberg
Incredibly beautiful and historical part of the Twin Cities. Great place to just walk and enjoy the view, or take pictures for a wedding or other family milestone. One of my favorite spots in downtown Minneapolis!
Daniel Woldorff
So quaint and cute. All these bikers and walkers biking and walking along the river. Cars stopping to let me cross the street. Everything is just so nice. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Daniel Anzanello
Great place to enjoy city views and cute doggies
Dawn Capistrant
It's so much fun to walk across this Stone Bridge across the Mississippi River. And it's good to learn that this bridge is the second oldest Stone Bridge on the whole Mississippi River and that it was funded by James J Hill around 1880 as a railroad bridge.
Henry Stafford
Nice place to walk around, and plenty of interesting signs that tell the history of the area.
Iris Stohl
One day I got bored and decided to find places in Minneapolis to see the Minneapolis skyline at night since my husband loves the skyline. I saw the stone arch bridge on Google and decided to go. When I got I told him to dress warm we are going out. I told him in the car where we were going. We went Friday evening and I must say I enjoyed our walk around the park and across the river. There is information all around and learn alittle bit of history. I enjoyed our stroll and looking at the old buildings and what they used to be before. We went again for mothers day and I never get tired of being there.
Reggie Merchant
Amazing view and vibe excellent place to hang out, bike ride, take a walk or jog. Strongly recommend
Christian Mancia
Amazing park for senior pictures :)
SANDRA BESTLAND
Mill Ruins Park is an urban treasure with historic buildings and structures at every turn. Whether you walk, bike, blade, or Segway along the urban trails, the Mississippi River is in view along the way. The most spectacular view is of the falls while crossing over the historic Stone Arch Bridge. When you need a break, there are many eateries on either side of the river within walking distance. Want to see a play or a movie? Walk to the iconic ultra-modern Guthrie Theater or an old-style movie theater, which are on opposite sides of the river.
Jessica Miller
I am in love with the Mississippi river! This area of the national park is fun because of all the restorations and the neat history I learned from Park Rangers at Saint Anthony Falls visitor center.

By far one of the coolest places in Minneapolis. Great for walks and site seeing. If you are in Minneapolis for one day make this area a priority.
Andrew Sean
Mills Ruins park is a historic, intriguing staple of downtown Minneapolis that helps to provide a visual example of how the architecture of the city had evolved over time and the beauty of preserved structures. The nearby bridge is also a lovely walk, and there are plenty of nearby attractions to make for an engaging day out.
Jake Lehmann
This is one of the best parks in downtown Minneapolis. There is a band shell where live music events are occasionally held, a parking lot, drinking fountain, outhouses and lots of walking trails. Not to mention one of Minneapolis's best attractions, the Stone Arch Bridge.
This is a popular place for dogs, cycling, and hammocking.

We love the Gold medal bread flour as the baking results are always consistently good. Travel thousands of miles from Malaysia to visit Mill Ruins Park to see how the St. Anthony Falls Mill structures still beautifully maintained is really an amazing experience.

Mill Ruins Park is at the hart of historic Minneapolis. It used to be the industrial hub based on the falls here on the Mississippi River which gave this community national relevance. Now, due to the diversification of the economy and modern building this is now right at the center of the culture of Minneapolis. Many of the most relevant Minnesota landmarks are right here making this a must visit part of town.
Tim Pakonen
great place to walk with the family
