I camped here with my dog. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. Small but nice. Definitely a good campground for families. The sites are big. Some are paved. There’s a nice nature trail with both new and old growth. There’s a nice bench and a bridge to cross the creek. It ends at a nice picnic area. There is a beach, playground, camp store, cabins, and bathroom facilities. They do sell firewood but they do not deliver to your site. They offer wheel barrows for you to use though. The only thing I didn’t care for was there was no way for anyone not dumping to get around the line of those dumping. I would recommend camping here and I will most definitely camp here again.

This is one of our family's new favorite getaways. Where has this little gem been hiding? The campground is clean, spacious, friendly workers, and had several amenities to offer. The fishing has been top notch as well. The office has everything you'll need to have a successful trip. We highly recommend this campground.

One of my favorite campgrounds. Lots to do but relaxing. Nice hook ups for RVs, though we used them just for tenting just fine. Sunrise was AWESOME.

Very well maintained campground and the sites are huge. They have an upper level with full hookups, and a lower level near the water thats rustic. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The beach area looks great for kids. It does seem like this waterfront is a little swampy, but the sectioned off area is sand bottom and groomed. So close tp grand rapids, will def come back.

Wabasis campground was a great place to stay, has some pretty spectacular views and a great atmosphere. Although this is one of our first RVing adventure spots, I'm confident that we will be back from how much we enjoyed our stay this time. The park was very clean, The spots are very large and still have plenty of trees to break things up a bit. The fire pits are very nice and well maintained and the clean out facilities on the way out are an added bonus. Quick access to the lake and several playgrounds makes this a perfect spot for families who are active and enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for a wonderful weekend and we'll see you soon Wabasis campground!

We camped midweek because there were spaces available. The park is very well maintained and has lots of options from tent camping to trailers to cabins to a full cottage. The swimming beach is small but very well maintained and is great for day use. There are venues for events like weddings and reunions. It was very quiet during our stay and gave us a very relaxed and beautiful time.

Nice quiet campground. We had full hook-up on a paved pad. The park is pet friendly. The staff were very helpful.

Great little county park. Even the primitive sites have access to running water to some extent and ready access to port-a-pottys. Very clean sandy beach that looks to be combed daily. The water isn't the cleanest due to the proximity to boat access, but there are no rocks or undergrowth. The beach has a very nice playground on it when the kids get tired of playing in the surf and sand (does this ever happen?). There is a boat/equipment rental booth onsite as well, of you're into kayaking and the like. On site party store is available if you need anything quickly, though Meijer and Walmart are 15 min away. Firewood is available onsite for exorbitant process, though some locals sell it for ½ the price.

Typically we camp annually at a different park but this year we decided to change it up. I am so glad we did! Wabasis was beautiful and far more family friendly than the campground we have gone to for 20 years. No inconsiderate loud music and parties. Just families and friends enjoying nature and each other's company. Huge grassy campsites; rustic, electric & water, and full service; affordable prices; beautiful beach and childrens areas; and even a camp store that has everything a camper could need. We will definitely be back!

Clean, beautiful, nice staff, affordable. Will definitely be back. The weekend I spent here was our Honeymoon. We got married the morning of the day we arrived. It rained but it was a lovely weekend anyway. I just made reservations for our anniversary weekend.

We really enjoyed the day hear at the beach. It's a nice sized sand beach with easy parking and nice facilities. We launched the sea doo at the boat ramp and played all day at the beach. Plenty of room to spread out and have a great day! The lake is big enough to have fun on but not too big and there is plenty of room for skiing or tubing.

Great place to fish. Very scenic and beautiful. Good boat launch with 4 docks to load and unload your boat. Picnic area too. Also has a camp ground with a beach..i haven't used thou. Love this place!

This was a very nice Beach but unfortunately due to this time of year you weren't allowed to go swimming because of a bacterial algae that makes you itch for whatever reason. But other than that I got a chance to glance and watch the water and look at boats cruise along the coastline. They even had a little picnic area where you could grill and bring you on lunch if you wanted to.

Wabasis is a great place to visit. The sires have been set up with distance and intelligence when it comes to layout. The playground and beach area is very nice, along with the facilities. The beach is usually busy during summer hours and the lake is always very busy with many boats. Wabasis is an all sports lake, so expect that when visiting as it may not always be the peace and quiet some would hope for. The rangers do an OK job of regulated noise and obnoxious campers.

I was born in 1977 on 11 mile road - just a few minutes to walk down my dirt road to Chief Wabasis Park. My dad worked there and I just about lived there. Catching fish, turtles, frogs, salamanders, snakes and bugs. Imagining great stories of Indians living in the limestone cave on the overlook trail and scouring the woods for arrowheads that I KNEW must be there. I remember using my finger to write my name in the cement base of the basketball hoop so many decades ago when it was being poured.....and I can still find the faded letters. Now I bring my children to swim, fish, hike and explore. I've spent countless thousands of hours scouring every square inch of this park and it has played a role in shaping who I am today.

Wonderful campground ,beautiful in the fall , especially In the morning. The mist off lake wabasis is incredible along with some unbelievably ancient Willow trees. Clean bathrooms and showers. Friendly staff with kayak rentals a Sandy Beach and hiking trails.

We stayed in the cabin, it was rustic but very clean and spacious. Rental kayaks were easy and fun, and the beach is a blast for the kids with a playground right on the beach.

Our 2nd trip up from Ohio, just as wonderful as our 1st. Our granddaughter loved fishing & swimming..even enjoyed playing in a summer show. If I could make 1 suggestion, replace the shower nozzles for more flow and pressure. Site # 3 full evening shade.

We spent 6 days here for vacation. We’re not beach people, so we didn’t take advantage of the water while here. We didn’t use the bathhouse as we were on a full hookup site. Speed bumps throughout are very large. Campground is on a hill, so many sites are not flat. But, sites are large and grassy. Camp store has a little bit of everything, so it’s very convenient if you forgot something.

This is a really nice park to go to in the Summer and Winter. They have great walking/hiking trails and the lake is beautiful. A perfect place to take your kids for some summer fun!

Great little campground with walk in rustic all the way to full hook up. A public boat launch and lake make it the perfect getaway. There are cabins you can rent, boats and kayaks for rent and a nice camp store for anything you might forget.

Quiet (we were literally the only ones there, late April) Lots of playgrounds. Near a park, great for a walk. The layout was a little funny, may not be great for big rigs when the campground is totally full.

I came to attend a wedding and I also explored some of the campground. There were some trails that were very steep and had what looked like poison ivy. There was also a small beach at the lake and many families were there.

really nice place to park a RV. plan to take your family camping alot if grassy sites to let kids play outside, or walk the dog. rent a cabin, and enjoy hiking the area or just kick back in your chair and relax for a few days hope to be a camper come the fall. we have alot more to explore the area. If you have never been here. you need to visit real soon!

The park is great! Ample parking, well maintained areas. It has a kayak rental, campers store, play areas, picnic area and fields. It might be a bit of a drive for some, but its worth it.

Great for young kids. Playground on the beach with nice challenging climbing elements as well as some lower and step up activities. Clean sandy beach, shallow sandy shoreline, good shade on the sides. A nice pic nic area just off the sides of the beach. Not far from the beach is the bath house which was very clean and featured one side with spacious private changing rooms and another side with bathroom amenities. A very nice boat launch with four lanes and good docks, not too steep, easy in and out with parking right there, which is not too far around the lake from the beach. A good camp store, covered pic nic area, playing fields, ok one hoop fenced court, additional playground, great trails, beautiful hills, woods, lakes. We didn't camp here but probably will! I understand it has different types of camping including cabin rental to drive in tent camping. All looked very clean and maintained. Families, kids riding bikes, real community feel. We'll definitely go back, it was a great family day.

Large grassy sites, but many are not level (even the paved ones!) so make sure you bring blocks to raise one side of your rig. Relatively small campground but has nice bathrooms, playground, and convenient access to the lake. One downside for boaters is not enough dock space during busy season.

Great campgrounds with store, bathrooms, showers. Electric, sewer & water hookups too. All very clean & well maintained. We were a little packed in & heard babies crying in the night but otherwise loved it. A turtle walked thru camp & the kids had a great time watching it.

Nice campground. We stayed 3 days, starting October 12, 2021. We had rain for half the stay. Only a few campers so it was very quiet. Have Verizon. WiFi was spotty. Walked away from camp site, in middle of the road, to connect, at night. Heard coyotes. Decided I didn’t need WiFi any longer. Lol! Watched Netflix. Buffers a bit but we survived. Couple docks on one end. Caught little fish which was great for our 3 year old. Other side has a large area with play equipment, on the beach. Sandy, no rocks. The campgrounds are low so with the rain, it is very wet and muddy, everywhere. We needed more shoes. Shower and bath house is clean, however, the showers are terrible. One room had a removable shower head which is decent. Sadly, it didn’t work but one night. The other rooms have fixed shower heads, up pretty high. Very bad water pressure and they don’t flow nice. Water squirts in all directions. If you have a child or are shorter than 5’10”, or you have hair, good luck. They are push button but stay on for a long time. Hot water is great. We had full hookup on our site. There are areas where you share the water hook up so you fill your tank and unhook so your neighbor can do the same. Secluded area. You don’t know you’re so close to a big city. Felt very safe. There is a camp store but it didn’t offer much (probably because it was mid October). I would stay again.

Fun local campground that has a quiet lake and nice walking trails. There are rustic sites right on the lake that have great views as well as cabins available. The beach is small but sandy!

A pretty good campground that could use some finishing details to be a great campground. The grass could stand to irrigated more other than rain, trees near the road need more trimming and better signage for the roadway (ie one way, direction of travel, etc.) The staff was great and restrooms were kept clean. Overall not a bad place for a week's stay, one of the better publicly run (Kent County parks) campgrounds.

Super biased opinion here because I grew up camping here but I love this campground. Big open lots, plenty of mature trees for shade, beach is pretty nice with awesome play area for kids. They could keep up better on the channel coming in for the boats to dock in but really nice campground for kids, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking.

It's ok for a quick trip but they need to transplant more trees. There wasn't adequate shade. The beach was nice and clean and the updated playground is great. Love to launch the boat here because there are multiple accesses but they should expand the parking lot.

It was a very nice campground. Bathrooms were very clean. Did not seen any critters at night. I tent camped. Couldn't speak to rv's. Only issue, when leaving, exit layout can create a backup. But overall, verynice site

Really pretty and diverse campground. We stayed in one of the plots in the woods in a tent. There are many trailer spots and bathrooms nearby. A short walk away is a beach with a playground. The camp store had anything you may need and ice cream too! Staff was welcoming and friendly and answered all of our questions. Definitely recommend!

Very nice clean newer campground run by Kent county. Quiet, very nice sites. Not many sites with shade however as most of the trees are young and small. Very nice beach, large swimming area, sandy. Reasonable rates for the sites, many of which are paved and level.

Wabasis is a great place to recreate. Whether swimming or fishing, boating, hiking, riding bikes, picnics and parties, or just camping and relaxing you can't go wrong. Last time I was there the bugs weren't bad. Check out the natural springs.

They have an awesome playground for kids and the beach is amazing. They seem to rake it on a daily basis. The water has always been relatively clean and warm when we've visited. It's our favorite beach to go to in the summer.

Great for travel trailers and fifth wheels but leaves much to be desired for tent camping. The primitive sites are mostly free of trees and dont provide any privacy from other sites. On the flip side, park staff/management is FANTASTIC! The firewood sold at the camp store is mostly hardwood and reasonably priced, as well as the ice. I was very impressed with the showers, for many campgrounds fail in this realm. The beach area is very well maintained. Boat rental is very reasonably priced.

Nice little lake. It was my first time being there for the lake part..of the park. Enjoyed myself with some friends and their children. Lake was still cold but hoping to go back soon and also enjoy the water as well.. as the beach area.. all in all had a nice outing with friends at a nice place to go hang out in the summer time..the people there seemed friendly, and I think there was some kind of boating rentals there for the public.. again i think. Didnt check that part part out completely..sorry

This park has a variety of camping "tiers", from full RV hookups to rustic woodland tent camping. The lake is beautiful, the beach is small but nice, and their facilities are cleaned daily. I couldn't ask much more from a campsite.

This is my family's favorite campground for too many reasons to list, #1 being it's size, which is not huge...but it has great views and an excellent lake. The accomodations are nice, and it's never too busy. Lots of wildlife, and my little son had plenty of kids to play with. There is also a nice Beach and a 4 lane boat launch on a Motorsports friendly lake. Highly recommended

Loved the size of each campsite, loved the lake and nature trail, very affordable kayaking for camp ground users, sweet and helpful staff. BUT no security on site at night. Five nights we were next to people who were yelling, cursing, chopping wood and arguing from 9pm to 8am. A little scary, thought they might shoot. The Sheriff came one night. No one to call to report this. No third shift. Very little sleep. Did not want to approach them for concerns of retaliation. Will return though, since we loved the Campground otherwise. Also bathrooms were not secure, men and women used the same showers, both restrooms open with not much privacy. Saw man taking his daughter into the women's bathroom. He used it too.

Very nice campground. The staff was helpful and friendly. Everyone waved and smiled and greeted us as they went by. Excellent small town atmosphere among the campers and "quiet hours" were respected by the campers around us. I have a big travel trailer and if not for the lot across from me being open, am not sure I would have gotten into the space I had reserved (or out this morning for that matter). The layout is good but for people with large setups it can be challenging. I would recommend this to anyone, we liked the biking, beach, trails, and the shady campsites. One note: depending on your take on electronics on vacation, cell service was spotty for data and there was no wifi.

This place is beautiful. We had our wedding In The covered shelter which was just the right size for our 150 guest list. The staff works with you and the view is unbeatable. You can cater and bring alcohol in. Parking is a little limited but wasn't an issue for us. You may want additional lighting for photos.

Always love Wabasis Beach. Smaller beach area, well groomed sand and well maintained play area. Great fishing area away from swimmers. However, my son got swimmer's itch from fishing near the weeds. Lots of geese on the lake right now.

Great park for the family. There is a boat launch on the lake and you can quick drive over to the swim area to pick up your family. Lake and beach are both clean. It can get busy on a nice day.

Their beach was a little dirty, and the water was a bit grimy in places, but they do have an impressive swing set and jungle gym for older children, though it's not geared for littles. With that said, you can rent a variety of kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards.

Has primitive or full hook up for tents or rvs. Nice clean grounds, clean large beach area with a park right on the beach for kids, plus a secondary park near the full hook up sites located just outside the showers. Boat launch and docks for shore fishing. 3 cabins & 1 cottage (cottage comes with privately docked row boat). Boat rentals & little store that has a lot of camping needs. Shelter house they rent out, pavilions with picnic tables near check in store. Firewood sold on site for $5 for 8 pcs. Has been a quiet place for the past 3 nights (Fri-sun). Would definitely recommend to out of towers as well as a nice close to home little Vaca for us locals.

I love Wabasis Lake. Nice beach area for the kids to swim. Huge lake for boating with a very nicely maintained launch. Decent fishing both summer and winter. The leaves in the fall have to be seen!

Hadn't been here in years! There have been so many improvements.... beautiful playground, nice bathrooms and changing rooms, picnic areas, water activities rentals. The beach was newly combed. What a terrific place to bring the family!

Stayed here on a bike trip through Michigan. The walk in sites are very quiet and private. It stayed cool and dry under the trees. No mosquitos and the showers were nice and clean. I loved this place.

I went on a weekday morning and it was lovely. There was a nice amount of people there, but not too crowded. The playgrounds are well cared for and shaded. The beach was clean.

Found this gorgeous area by mistake. We had just moved in our new house and I was stressed. I took a drive down country roads and found it. The water by the beach area is clear. The sand is clean and there is a playground right on the beach. It is the my 2nd favorite smaller lake. Lake Michigan always wins over every lake but I am glad I found this little gem.
