This is a great campground. We like going here because it’s an alcohol free campground. No late night loud parties. This is a clean place. They have camping for tents and RV hook ups. The bathrooms and showers are well kept. There are places to fish around the campgrounds, and parks for the kids throughout. There are dumpsters for trash, you bring your own trash bags and utilize the dumpsters. It’s a beautiful quiet campground. Handicap accessible.

Secluded, clean, peaceful place! Large sites for groups. Bathhouse was clean. A volunteer puts reservation cards on posts, we didn’t have one. He showed up on day 2 with it. Snuck up behind me and frightened me. Other than that episode it was a wonderful time.

🤔 So, they fail to mention the standard electric plug on site 8 is blocked and doesn't work, yet charge $22 per night. It's a gorgeous spot though, not worth $22 if you're staying in a tent like we are. I wish we would've swung out and checked it sooner. Probably a mix up on my part! Keep this in mind. 🙃 …

Nice secluded area to camp. Possibly the cleanest restrooms ever for a public place. They have outlets in them which is a plus!

Well maintained tent camping sites. Beautiful place to stay!
Only down side was one of our campsite neighbors (3 tents on 1 site, 6+ ppl) did not get the memo about NO alcohol and what quiet hours mean. They were up all night being very loud even after we asked them to be quiet. We were there with our children and our other campsite neighbors also had many children trying to sleep.
Someone needs to be going around at quiet hour time and making sure all campers are following the rules because campsite #87 defiantly was not!!! We didnt get sleep till 3am! We chose this campsite because it was suppose to be family friendly, no alcohol and no ruckus after a certain time.

Very clean bathrooms and shower house. Well maintained grounds and paved roads and parking (better than gravel). Inexpensive. Camp hosts are friendly. I've stayed long periods of time here and was comfortable. Close to grocery stores and gas.

Overall, the campsite was clean and roomy. Definitely a primo campfire spot for one night. Oh, and the wildlife is plentiful. So much so that my buddies breakfast burrito was straight up snatched right off our picnic table after turning our backs for only a moment (RIP). Then, after dark, sitting at our fire, we heard rustling in the bushes about 10ft away. All of a sudden, we were surrounded by multiple overly confident Raccoons. Casually walking right towards us while we are snacking. We flashed lights at them and shooed them away but they kept coming back, in larger numbers. Soon, we knew we would be out numbered. So we put all snacks away for the night. They stayed to enjoy the fire anyways. Kind of cool, kind of sketchy.
So my buddy and I decided that after 1 tick, 3 spiders and about a million raccoons we can only give this campsite a 4/5. Not even boundary water raccoons are THAT crazy. 😂
(Unfortunately, no photos of the raccoons.)

Great alcohol-free park. Tent sites are spread out in wooded hollows. 3 nice bath houses well maintained & cleaned frequently. Some camper sites have concrete pads. Lots of volunteers and corp workers maintain well. Must reserve spot

Beautiful campground and well maintained! Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Nice campground even though they made us take down our little kiddie pool that my kids were enjoying because it’s a liability if left unattended. I guess we will just over look the GIANT pond right next to several of the sites??

First time camping at this campground—Overall I was very impressed with it! It was very pretty with the fall colors. Each campsite was labeled well, had a picnic table had plenty of parking nearby, and fire pit with a cooking grate attached to it. Our site wasn’t the flattest, but it looked like the majority of sites in the camp were. The grass and campground were kept up really well. The showers and bathroom were also in great condition. Plenty of trees to hang a hammock from too. Giving 4 stars because I wish we would’ve had lake access from our campsite and the campsites were kind of close to each other, but I’d definitely go back and camp here again. Watch out for the raccoons at night—they’re big, noisy and will definitely try to get in your totes/coolers if you leave them out.

Well foe alcohol free it was ok. Good place for little kids or older people. Early teens not so much.

Great place for families !! Lots if space between sites for kids. We loved it & will be back. One thing... Supposed to be a discount for seniors. Theres NOTHING online about it. Always stuck paying full price at Saylorville when we reserve online , multiple times now... Probably so many times that we should have a FREE night owed to us. Other than that , it was a fun time.

We had a lot of fun there and they're not too expensive

Huge camp sites for tents - we probably could have fit at least six tents on our one site. I would've liked if there were individual water pumps at each camp site so we didn't have to walk so far to get water.
Tommy Russell
Very nice campground. Good price, quiet, and shady lots. Only 30 sites but all reservable. Clean shower house. *****

Have been coming here for years and love this campground. The bathrooms are super clean and nice. The campsites are wooded and many are private. Most are available to reserve.

It’s a beautiful campsite just 25 minutes from my work downtown Des Moines which allows me to camp throughout the week. The showers have great water pressure and they are kept clean as well! I have been ranting and raving to everyone about checking this quaint little gem out!

It is hard to rate this facility. It is a small park that is not really connected to the lake. It doesn't seem that there are enough showers for a busy weekend. There was some loud music late at night, maybe from nearby bars or oversized boats. BUT, there is plenty of space to spread out, compared to the usual campsites in Iowa. It is close to bike trails. And best of all, no alcohol is allowed, so there aren't noisy partiers that keep you awake all night.
Cheryl Newman
Very quiet, clean, well taken care of!

Nice Campground with good facilities and free showers. The tent sites are all down hill from the parking lot, so don't stay here if it's going to rain, the water will flow through your campsite. Other than that, nice location.

Relativity small campground compared to some of the other campgrounds around saylorville lake, but it is nice and quiet if you can get a camping spot. This is one of the only non-reservable saylorville campgrounds. Great playground for the kiddos. Sites have electric hook-up only. There are community frost free water hose bibs available and a sewer dumping station at the exit to the campground. We have enjoyed our stays at this campground.

This is a great get away, but it is still close to home, so our time isn't wasted driving. There is plenty to do and the public facilities and areas are kept clean. Acorn Valley is a go to for Scouting events!
They have cleared up since the Derecho of August 2020, and are mindful in accommodations for Covid-19.

Nice quite place. Large spaces although 23 is very unlevel.
Patti Raithel
The place had pretty generous campsites with fire rings. My one complaint is the bathrooms need a serious remodel and could of least been cleaned , the shower was pretty yucky and just had to skip my shower😰 …
Sonja Hersom
Hidden campground on the East side of the lake. No reservations taken so get there by Thursday if you want a weekend spot. Good for tent camping as limited electric sites.
Ben Crawford
Very nice place to camp with very spacious sites and all sites have 20A,30A,and50Amp electric!! I would definitely camp there again!!

Great campground, very peaceful and quiet. Watch out for the racoons, they are not afraid of the people unless you fart accidentally and scare them away.
Chrissy Raskie-Jessen
Loved this place. Staff was welcoming and friendly. I felt safe. The spots were clean. You could choose between an open area or a more secluded spot.

Quieter than some of the other campgrounds around Saylorville, perhaps because no alcohol is allowed.
