Reviews of Toups Meatery

Everything we tasted was astronomically delicious in our mouths. We had the unlimited mimosas and trust me they just kept coming, It was great!! Our waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was on point. This place is very casual and laid back. Us girls from California and Utah loved you guys!

An amazing brunch location in NOLA with a large selection of food that will make your taste buds go crazy. It is a very sophisticated play on Cajun food, something that Chef Toups really specializes in. If you are in NOLA, visit this wonderful establishment for sure!
There were four of us and we shared a variety of dishes - crab claws, fore gras, fried rice and many more. I was so full at the end and very satisfied.
I was also surprised to meet Chef Toups, who was just hanging out at the bar. He is just as nice and funny as you see in the Munchies and Eater videos.

Great service. Our waiter gave great advice on what to order and how to eat things together. I’ve never had such an amazing chicken liver mouse. It tasted like sweat meat butter. Amazing. Put it on the cracklins (which are the meaty kind!! 🤤🤤) it was awesome. Highly recommend this place. …

Hiya. I had the joy of having dinner at Toups this past weekend. We had a party of 10 with reservations for 8pm and we were seated almost immediately. Service right off the bat was great. They're attentive, friendly, and able to take a joke.
We started off with some cracklin and a pickled plate of some sort. All tasted great, no issues there. As for our entrees, nothing disappointed. I ordered the venison which was a delight.
All in all, place was lovely, servers and staff were great, food tasted good. No complaints here!

This place is amazing with its small menu that they do very well. We experienced the best Gulf shrimp we've had. The redfish sandwich was so crisp and fresh, truly top fish sandwich ever. Our mixoligist was a quick with the drinks and presented professional drinks. The wait staff was extremely engaged and we have a very pleasant experience. We will be back.

Everything was outstanding. The service was so friendly and welcoming. We loved the meatery board (especially the chicken liver mousse!). Our entrées of Lamb neck and seared duck were both delicious. We even got to meet the chef and he was so wonderful and funny! We loved our experience!

Fantastic food!! Went as a Top Chef fangirl and was not disappointed! The pickle plate and fois Gras starter were amazing!! Such interesting flavors, a real workout for your palate. The fried chicken sandwich was so crispy and juicy with just the right amount of spice. Cocktails were all fantastic; only comment is that there was a lack of garnish. Highly recommend the food and drinks at this top tier establishment!

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Wine selection was disappointing, especially the quality and selection of reds. The smoked duck appetizer was very nice. The roasted duck entree was overdone, dry and bland. Asked for the crabmeat appetizer to be served with the entree, it came out as an appetizer..

Finally had a chance to visit this restaurant since seeing Chef Toups make gumbo on vice, it was not a let down. Started out with a Meatery board and was blown away, great selection of meats and pickle, my favorite was the hog head cheese and cracklins, pretty much crack, a must try. We had the cucumber salad which was a bit sesame oil forward, not my favorite thing, but my wife devoured the whole bowl. Last of the meal was the lamb neck, which was incredible, so tender, so full of flavor, a great combo with the black eyed peas. It was great meal, in a great atmosphere, with great service.

*Make a reservation* Caution, long review
For me, and me of the biggest differentiators between 4 and 5 stars with nice restaurants is service. And in that, Toups clearly delivered. I'm sad i don't have the name of our server cause guy was awesome. Also, shout out to the bartender who was exceptional.
We showed up a few minutes early (late dinner) and our table was ready. They allowed us to go right to it. The servers were super attentive. A few groups had showed up right after us and were seated/served concurrently.
Our server made several recommendations, from drinks to food and all of them hit perfectly. I know because part of our group took his advice and part didn't. Those that heeded 'won' and those that didn't 'lost'.
Look, all the food and drinks are exceptional, and if you trust your server they will give you that extra bit of guidance to the promised land. It's going to confirm what you had in mind one way or another.
Ok, the food, we all took turns ordering different things, was excellent. Shareables andains... Didn't matter. It all broke expectations.
Even When it came to alcohol, the server was great. I asked for a specific scotch. He immediately said, we don't have that. I said, i saw it on the bar. He immediately apologized, then brought a menu and asked me to point it out. Took it to the bartender. I had that drink just a min or two later. No fuss.

If you love meat, go directly to Toups Meatery. Creative and exotic, Toups provides a wealth of delicious choices to satisfy the most ravenous carnivore. The elk was delicious, and meat board with house-made sausage and pate and bacon was great for two or more to share. A cold beer with their pork cracklings is recommended.
Taylor Wall
The food was great. I had the lamb neck which is not something I've ever even seen at a restaurant, and it was some of the most tender meat I've eaten. Unfortunately, we had a fairly sour experience with a server and the managers response to it was less than helpful. But, despite that, they did continue to treat us fairly decent after that hiccup which I appreciated.
Raven Childers
The food was absolutely divine. The drinks were unique and very flavorful. All of the meat, pickles and vegetables were prepared thoughtfully and with lots of flavor.
Cayla Madaris
Just ridiculous, honestly. A really sophisticated play on cajun, really unique and a cool experience. We originally had dinner reservations but travel plans changed so we switched to lunch. We were definitely not disappointed. The boudin, burger and beer special is top notch. My husband said it was the juiciest burger he's ever had. Friendly folks, cool vibes inside and out. Highly recommend!
Sara Gleasman
This place is great! Staff are very friendly and attentive.
They have incredible food and drinks.
A must if you’re visiting Nola. Definitely book a table before going, they’re quite busy.
Claire Mahon
A bit underwhelmed after seeing the chef on Top Chef and reading reviews, so maybe we came on an abnormal night. Service wasn’t super attentive to the outdoor tables and there’s street noise, but the heat lamps work great. The vibe is a little weird - $30+ entrees but also a TV broadcasting the basketball game and a large bar. Meatery board was a good way to try a bunch of options, although I wish it came with more bread. Pickled veggies were the star for me. For entrees, thought my duck breast was a touch over cooked, but again veggie sides were great. Cocktails weren’t anything special.
Omar Leos
Well this place was an amazing find!! When you go, and yes you should, please order the fried Turkey necks: fall off the bone delish!!! We will be back ten times!! Make reservations!!
Ms. Tran
If you like meat protein, this is your jam. House cured/house made cured meats and sausages beautifully presented with a nice variety of accompaniments. The sides are generous and delicious as well. The crackling and cornbread were especially good! The gulf shrimp was just okay; although the sauce was very good, gulf shrimp is mushy and grainy in its consistency, so be aware of that before ordering.
Service is low key, but nice and attentive.
Richard Roy
My wife and I have had this place on our wish list for a while now. Not disappointed. Gabe, our server, was attentive and informative and quite pleasant. He also was incredibly speedy. While we were there he was keeping up with 10+ tables at once. I've waited tables before and this is very hard to do while keeping everyone happy. By the way, the couvillion in the picture is only half a serving, my wife has the other half.
Great food, great atmosphere and I'm already looking for a reason to get back to New Orleans. Thank you Isaac Toups for sharing your culinary gifts with the rest of us.
William Lo
One of our stops of our Top Chef Tour! Food, service, drinks were excellent. Meats and flavor were all top notch!!
Aiden Keller
I never want to eat anywhere else. This food is amazing! Everything is so well priced for the fantastic quality you receive.
K S
Excellent place to try local flavors cooked by a James Beard award finalist for best chef.
The marinated crab claws were delicious and our plate had more than 20-22 claws. I also loved the pickled pineapple in this plate.
Our next appetizer, the Roasted Gulf Shrimp, was also very tasty. The shrimps were big and perfecty cooked and the garlic-vinegar-green olive sauce was very well balanced.
Also, there cacklings, which is actually deep fried lol belly is very meaty. That dish would probably require a sauce with acidity and herbs to add complexity. A cilantro crema could make this side more fresh and transform it into a small plate for sharing.
My braised lamb neck was one of the best prepared lamb dishes I ever had. It was so tender it was falling apart. The handmade pasta that came with it was a bit thicker for my taste but I can't really complain.
Their portion sizes are huge and my advice is to share one and then order a second if needed.
There is a lot of complexity and love for food in this place combined with proper technique.
I would gladly visit again.

It's been 12 years since I last said a restaurant is possibly my new favorite restaurant in the world. I'm saying it now, here! Everything from the pork chops & applesauce cocktail, to the Rillons, the Veal Schnitzel, the Confit Chicken Thighs, everything was spectacular. And the place is lovely, and the service is amazing!
Debra White
First time there, it was my son's birthday and he chose the restaurant. I was blown away by the charcuterie board, I could have eaten it by myself. I ordered the crab salad which was my only disappointment, very little crab ffg or a meal salad. But all the other items were delicious. The lamb necks, sooo tender and juicy, the schnitzel was huge and wonderful, the couvilion was probably my favorite. We had a side of dirty rice, cornbread and the beignet grit bowl. These were awesome. I forgot to take pictures of the small plates and sides
Maresia Johnson
Pariche she is Amazing. My Sister and I had the best dining experience with equally wonderful food. Pariche greeted us with the true down home New Orleans make you feel like you are at home and never want to leave. I recommend this is a must and ask for Pariche to be your server. We love ❤️ her.
M St. Julien
Excellent burger and the cracklin was really good! Enjoyed everything except the fact that when we sat at the bar, we were not acknowledged for at least 15 minutes even though there were several folks behind the bar talking to other patrons. I'm giving the food the 4-stars but not the service we received.
Alex Sabetta
Loved this place, absolutely recommend the meatery board, gives you a great tasting of menu.. the polarity of the plate was remarkable.. super rich paired with super acidic really left you satisfied. Def will be back!
Per Sveen
The service was great and our was very good. Cracklins we’re delicious and the lamb neck was super tender and flavorful
Santiago Rueda
Great place to have a charcuterie board. Everything was made in place and delicious. The pork cracklins were on point. We were a little bit rushed by the waitress but overall a great experience.
Amber Magee
The food is great; Toups knows its way around an animal. We loved the snout to tail approach to butchery and the menu. If you appreciate offal, get the Meatery Board, it's filled with yummy standouts like the headcheese.
Would have given five stars on just the food alone, but the service was poor. It took a long time between ordering drinks and receiving them and trying to get the bill took longer than getting our food.
mary vu
Enjoyed Happy Hr! Nice atmosphere & helpful staff. Didn't rush us at all! It's been since before Pandemic that I was able to catch up with my friend, so glad we were not rushed. Only thing was turkey neck batter was still runny, but really small mistake ( the meat was so tender). Will try to make happy hr again! I really loved the drinks, omg the creole tomatoes, pork belly dish. The cheese board was tasty. The boudin was full of liver & flavorful!
Mary Polatty
Such a fun experience! My niece tried everything and ordered the most adventurous meal of the three of us.
Jim Dupuy
Great food and creative menu. It’s a little small, so make a reservation. Excellent cocktails options also.
Reid Johnson
As a huge Top Chef fan I had been looking forward to trying Issac's restaurant for a long time and it did not disappoint. Every bite of food was amazing, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It is easily one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had in my life and I can't wait to come back on my next trip to New Orleans.
Sam McDonald
We had a rehearsal dinner for about 35 folks at Toups last week, and WOW! Without a doubt the most decadent meal of my life. Service was prompt, and the staff were all very polite and attentive. Will be dreaming about that meal for a long time…
Serenity Lithae
The chicken fried quail was amazing. So far the best food I've had in New Orleans.
Oldair Da Silva
What a great experience, Adam was simply amazing and made our visit memorable.
We started with the Boudin Balls which were cooked to perfection and quite flavorful. Our server Adam then surprised us with a sampling of the chicken liver pate (aka mousse) which was served with pickled onions and a sweet jam, outstanding. My daughter and I shared the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich with collard greens which was fantastic as well. The flavors of the food all outstanding and the portions were spot on.
My only disappointment was that Chef Toups was not around and I really wanted to meet him but we will most definitely be back. This place is a carnivore’s dream and next time we will most definitely get the Meatery Board which has a little bit of everything.
Thanks again Adam for the great service!

I get that it’s a meat oriented restaurant, but there’s literally one vegetable dish on the menu, mains don’t seem to include any foods with color. The food was decent, boudin balls were particularly good, everything else on the small plates section pretty lacklustre. Service was poor, demanded our group
Order apps and mains together which is totally understandable, but couldn’t be bothered to use seat numbers or try to deliver food/drinks to the right end of the table.

Toups' Meatery is a unique restaurant with a cajun-ish spin on things, although it appears to be more southern dishes with some twists on them to me. The environment is one which welcomes any occasion for dining.
This restaurant has been on my bucketlist for a few months, as the exterior stood out to me with its social outdoor seating filled with plants, and my my quest for another great burger.
I ordered the crispy turkey necks and the coolinary week special which included a glass of wine, beef sticks for the appetizer, gulf fish for the main course, and vanilla pana cotta for dessert.
The crispy turkey necks were fried like nothing I've ever had. I love turkey necks and this was a great spin on them. I'd omit the peanuts, though. The beef sticks were a cross between the snack beef sticks and sausage. The Dijon mustard, cabbage, and pickles, paired well with it when eaten together. The gulf fish with squash was salty and seemed to miss something with it. The vanilla pana cotta was simple and sweet.
My friend purchased the wagyu steak with crispy potatoes and a side of cornbread. I tried her steak and potatoes and felt it was among the top two best steaks I've consumed. The potatoes were among the best styled with a steak I've had before. She equally enjoyed it. We both agreed that though the cornbread was sweetened, thank goodness, it was really dry, unfortunately.
I also ordered a to-go plate of the confit chicken thighs for my mom. She stated the greens had a strong vinegar flavor. Possible from the mustard.
I feel that the food is a bit expensive. Then again, I suppose it is fair due to the selection of meats served. Though I was only wowed by the steak.
The staff was pretty engaged and extremely busy. But they made it work.
Toups' is one of the restaurants I'd suggest to try once. But not one I can recommend and see myself visiting several times. Although my main reason for visiting was the burger, which I'll be back for.
Jessica Demaree
Came here for lunch and knew immediately that I would need to come back to eat more! I had the confit chicken thighs and coffee cake for dessert. **Chef's kiss**
Ryan Marshmam
If you come to New Orleans this is a must you should eat at. It's pricey but well worth every penny. Please stop by! They have a patio for you to eat outside. The night scene is awesome as well
The menu is very exquisite and small from veal, to lamb neck to pork chops. I can go on and on about this place. The tangerine beer on draft was super good as well. The pork chop with dirty rice does take 45minites to prepare due to the super large cut. The seafood couvillion has great flavor and the portion is large.
Derra Santos
From start to finish, everything was heavenly! We had the Gulf Shrimp, the Meatery Board, and the Venison - all were perfectly seasoned and balanced. You can taste the care and delicate precision of the ingredients with every bite. On top of that, the service is impeccable. Absolutely recommended!
Jesse Scanga
Food was excellent and seriously portioned. The meat board gives you a great variety of sides and delicious house cured meats. Staff was attentive and kind. The man himself was kind enough to take a selfie with me which is much appreciated. Definitely come here if you want an outlandishly amazing dining experience.
Saif Al-Alawi
It's good, highly rated and recommended. However, my buttermilk chicken wasn't as mouth watering as I was hoping. It just wasn't. If I could go back in time I'd get the lunch special but I trusted the servers recommendation. Also the path to the bathroom is slippery AF so watch your step. Toups may need to address that to avoid a lawsuit for a slip and fall.
Julian Holloway
What a nice find! Toup's has excellent, fresh food, and some great Cajun dishes. These wizards did some sort of magic on the pork chop special, the boudin is really tasty, and the shrimp was particularly on point. Not typically a fan of open kitchens, but these guys do it without the chaos most show. Cool joint, great food, good experience.
Brad Sims
Fantastic from start to finish. Great food, excellent service, you will never t be disappointed. We had the Meat Board and the Burrata, and I couldn't recommend either highly enough. Enjoy.
Simon Mcrowdy
Food is very tasty. House sausage was great. Also got the cracklings, see photo below. If anyone can eat a whole plate of these I would love to meet you, it would be impressive. Then I assume you would die from a heart attack.
Robert Moran
Had the lamb neck. Falling off the bone good. The Meatery board is great for first timers. Gave us a real sense of what they are about. Also make sure you try pork chop and applesauce cocktail!!!
Audrey Cheung
Worth leaving the french quarter for dinner at Toup’s. Come with your friends and enjoy creative cocktails and fabulous food and service. We were with a group of 16 and highlights were turkey necks so smokey and crispy at the same time, lamb neck so tender it fell off the bone, the lamb ribs, liver mousse with cornbread and save room for the Jack Daniels ice cream.
Brinny Gatewood
Toups is always good! I am not very big on boudin but they have my favorite in the city so far! Their meat is delicious everything on the menu is extremely salty though. Went recently and the friend got the pork chop which was probably like 10 lb and most of it was fat. There was a very little meat on a ginormous bone. I think the service could be good if they weren't so agregiously understaffed. Our guy was great but she was busting her asssss! Loved her. I hope he gets some help soon!
As a side note despite not having them the last time I went the cracklins are delicious from my recollection and you should definitely get them. I would also highly recommend making a reservation for this place despite it being on the more casual side
Lee Lastovica
Dining with a few friends tonight, so grabbed a few different things. We had the meat board, cheese board, poutine, cracklins, pickle plate, cucumber salad as well as the lamb neck. There aren’t enough words in the English language to describe how great of a meal this was. It just goes to show how much better your food is when the chef uses fresh and unique ingredients. I have never liked blue cheese nor beets, but loved them here at Toups. I’m not sure what I would eat here if I dined alone, but this menu is perfect for sharing.
Morgan Troost
Went for Dinner on Christmas Eve, our waiter was fantastic, patient, friendly, and put up with the awkwardness of an aging parent with a smile. He was fantastic and i wish i could remember his name.
Get the Meat board. No questions here. Its worth it.
The Wagyu Steak was fantastic as you might expect it to be, and the vegetarian option Roasted carrots over what i think was roasted red pepper puree was mind blowing.
The Seafood Courtbouillon let me down but probably more because its a different style than I make at home than being done wrong.
Its tastes a lot like the sea, fishbroth maybe? And the sauce is thin an souplike with no visible trinity and the addition of crawfish never really make these dishes better IMO. My mistake I should have asked about that or just ordered Meat at the Meatery.
Phil Bergman
Crazy good food. Had crab claws (oh my!!) and pickle plate for table. The charred and pickled pineapple is to die for. Then had chicken sandwich which is simply amazing 👏
D Romo
This was a dining experience, my pallet was shocked multiple times. Fortunate are the locals to experience the culinary greatness, and extraordinary team of employees!
One can taste pride in each recipe and crafted cocktail!
Justin Gee
I’ve been waiting to come here since I discovered Chef Toups. I’ve been making a bunch of his recipes at home for a few years now - so glad to finally try it out.
Wish I ate a lighter lunch so I could’ve eaten more here for dinner. Get the meat board and ask questions later. I’d take a bath in the roasted gulf shrimp sauce
Rana B
I am still dreaming of the rack of elk and the coffee rubbed lamb ribs. The meat just fell off the bones and was packed with so much flavor. Everything we had from the corn bread to the house sodas was amazing and the service was also so quick and efficient. Will definitely be back!
Candace
UPDATE: Just enjoyed my THIRD visit. Keep it comin' Toup! Pics of the delicious chicken liver appy and the Seafood Couvillion don't do these dishes justice. Just come eat here. My second visit was as delicious as the first. I grazed on small plates of Dirty Rice, A House Pickles Plate, Chicken Liver Mousse, a Shrimp dish that alone requires another visit, and a cucumber salad that's fresh and crunchy. I love this place. Always great service and a great time!
Morgan Smith
First the very good Burger and Cracklins were delicious. The house made chips served with the sandwiches were tasty. For the not so good- onion rings were very salty. The service was awful. So slow but the staff was pleasant. Waters were only refilled as we were wrapping up the meal. Waited a lifetime to get the food. Clearly under staffed on the floor. Finally it was freezing in the restaurant. Air was on blast and all 4 ceiling fans were going.
Alex Sobey
Probably my favorite establishment in Nola, at the moment. Meatery board contains most of the delicious sides. I would highly recommend just getting starters here. They are better than the mains.
Angel Nieves
Toups Meatery was everything and then some. The chef has incredible taste and it shows in his menu but the real stars of the show is the staff. Despite being busy still attended to me and gave spectacular service. Thanks, ladies.
Darryl Johnson
Hands down best meal I have had all year. I can't even begin to describe the taste and texture of the Double cut pork chop. This place made my day
Martin Blumenfeld
Amazing food and I even got to meet the man himself! The corn dogs, cucumber salad, pickles, boudin balls, rillons and turkey necks were awesome. The cracklin was epic and so meaty. The drinks were darn delicious too. Highly recommended. Hello from Canada.
Michael Hong
We had brunch here, and shared all the goodness from boudin balls to chicken liver pâté, and it was scrumptious. Thank you for the unforgettable experience and service! Just amazing!
Rich Chatat
Fantastic food, drinks and atmosphere. My wife and I just ate here and it was amazing. The elk and lamb were perfect and the cornbread was the best thing ever.
Fatima Leitao
It was nice but looking inside the kitchen left me a bit worried.. can't say it looked very clean 😞. But no doubt food was tasty and service was nice.
Will Stephens
Fantastic meal, great service. Price was as expected for the quality of food. We went for dinner and had the cracklins, crab claws, couvillion, and wagyu steak. Being huge fans of Top Chef, we had to try Toup’s before we moved and it didn’t disappoint at all.
Production Apostle
This place is excellent if you like meat... staff was helpful and polite. They have the largest Whiskey Rye Bourbon and Scotch list I have seen. Our waiter Randy was great and really knew his stuff. Our food came out fast too. Have no complaints and will definitely be back. To many Whiskeys not enough time. Thanks yall.
Elvi
We ordered vegetable plate, foi gras, cracklings, fried turkey neck, venison, and panna cotta. Everything was great.
Have to mention the panna cotta; it was surprisingly good!
Andrew Lawrence
Fantastic place! I have been itching to try out Toups food ever since I found his instructional videos on how to cook Cajun food the proper way. Chef Toups hits a wonderful middle ground of decadence and comfort with his food. His Meatery Board is perfect for a beefsteak, and I cannot wait to go back!
Jason Giaccone
Wonderful Saturday afternoon for my wife's birthday!!
Such an amazing meal. Started with some drinks, boudin, cheese plate, and a lamb corn dog!! We finished with the special fig salad, the Chef's Burger and a special moment with Chef Toups.
Thank you Toups Meatery for an amazing experience as always!!

Food is good. Third time going within the past 6 months and some days shined more than others. Same with the service. On our last visit, the server was not bad but not good. Felt like we were an inconvenience even though we didn’t ask for much. That will be my last visit for a while.
Joseph Lennon
Amazing atmosphere, amazing food, amazing service. I took my girlfriend for her birthday. We had the best time while eating our way through the menu. The drinks were also great and the service was on point all night. Helping us eat just the right amount.
Jeremy Henley
Always good. Great cocktails. The meat board is huge! Never had a bad meal here.
George Kinter
Pricey, but the food is excellent. We didn't have a reservation, but I recommend you make one if you plan to visit, particularly with more than two in your party. I had the lamb neck, and it takes some time to prepare. When it did arrive, it was delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked even though it was a giant portion. Very tender and falling off the bone. My wife had the duck. I swear it tasted like a choice piece of steak. My kids had the meat and cheese plates, which turned out to be a great way to try new things. The beer selection on tap, though small, features some good local brews.
bre morgan
The food and the service is amazing here. We didn't have a reservation so we sat at the bar and it was a lot of fun. I ordered the Bone Marrow special and the Ribeye Special both were delicious! Definitely going back. Also, get the shot of Whiskey with the Bone Marrow-it's definitely worth it.

Enjoyed watching chef/owner of this place on Top Chef and decided to Uber over and check it out during our last trip. He actually came in during our lunch to oversee things. We shared the Meatery Board which is a selection of house-made fresh and cured meats and condiments and thought it was great. This is definitely on our list of places to try again on our next visit to sample more of their offerings. Atmosphere and service was good. Tucked away in a pretty neighborhood.
Edward Giles
Absolutely stunning cajun fair, food was cooked beautifully, staff were very helpful and service was excellent, we had the venison dish and the gulf seafood couvillion all where perfect. Chef toups really has something to be proud of! <3
Leticia Quezada
This was my second time at Toups and unfortunately it was not quite as amazing this time around. The staff was a bit rude and chaotic, although ultimately efficient. Meatery board was delicious but unfortunately our entrees were just okay.
jflo
Went for the 3 finger pork chop but not available on the weekend brunch menu, boo!! Regardless sat down n e way to eat and had a great experience. Great service and good atmosphere.
Annaleise Porta
LOVED our experience here. The food was amazing and our waiter was so kind and helpful. We will likely return next time we visit.
El S.
Freaking love this place! Great HH specials, fantastic service and food was amazing! Outdoor seating area is great.
Brandi Garza
My husband and I came to NOLA for his 30th birthday, and to Toups for his birthday dinner. The staff was SO nice, our waitress and others who brought us anything were all awesome. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks were delicious, and the food was wonderful! The pork chop was out of this world according to my husband! Prices were expected for the kind of place it was. Cool and trendy little restaurant, thank you for having us!
Jayme Taylor
This place is one of a kind. Loved the Meatery board. Order the rillons. Absolutely amazing flavor.
Kathryn Seeling
Been dying to try this place since watching top chef. On a recent visit we finally got the chance and it lived up to our expectations. We had the crab claws, lamb neck, the gulf seafood couvillion, ta ta bouille and the doberge cake. The crab claws were very good, they could have used a little more flavor but overall easy to eat (no cracking or peeling) the slight grilled pineapple on the bottom had a spicy edge to it. I thought you got a good size portion for the price. The lamb neck was delicious! Disclaimer, you must love lamb. It had a strong lamb flavor. It was so tender and perfectly cooked. It was served over flawlessly cooked bucatini. I thought this was a best pasta to sever with this dish. A nice thick round noodle that really sucked up the sauce. It was exactly what I had in mind when I read the menu. The couvillion was spicy, but in a flavorful way. It did give you a little sweat while eating it. The fish was a black drum and it was moist and tender. The shrimp were large and well seasoned. This dish could have been swimming in sauce but it wasn't. It was the right amount for this dish. The star of the show was the crab fat rice. OMG! So awesome. I could have eaten a whole plate of just that. The bouille and doberge were our dessert and they both were unique and tasty. My two cents: get the meatery board as a meal or to share with maybe a small plate. It looked fantastic. Also it would have been great to have some bread to sop up the gravy from both our dishes.
Side note: the wait staff was very eclectic which I think added to the charm of the place. Our waitress was very helpful. Sometimes I think people take eclectic for rudeness. This place is funky, with funky food. I think the wait staff added to the fun of the place.

Absolutely amazing! Visiting NOLA with my fiancé, and we've been huge fans of Isaac for years. We were absolutely delighted to not only get some of his food, but to meet him. We enjoyed the Meatery Board, as well as the catfish benedict, and the Toupes burger, and will definitely be back in the future

Excellent meal at Toups starting with the boudin balls and the foie gras torchon (excellent) and a shrimp dish. Then on to a chicken thigh confit and a fish couvillon. Everything was delicious. Our server seemed a bit distracted- never asked us if we wanted coffee or dessert and set the check on the table. Then she went and poured another table some wine to apologize for the kitchen being late on their food. Just a bit off but she was nice. We sat outside - works in late April probably not as great later in the year but it was a nice patio
Dustin Webster
Toups was exceptional. The service, food, and drinks are all very very good. It is not cheap here, but you get what you pay for as far as quality and experience goes. It is very worth it. As the name would imply, it is a meat heavy menu. Our only critique is that while everything was delicious, overall we found the meal to just be extremely heavy. To be fair, my wife and I don't regularly eat a great deal of meat, so this was unique for us. We will for sure be back, but maybe for drinks and small plates at the bar instead of a full meal. Great spot!

The food, service, and atmosphere made this a 5 star experience. You can tell the folks working here are happy and passionate about the food the serve. The meat board is a definite recommendation, with some uncommon eats you’ll be sure to enjoy. The mimosas are “25:1”; Bottomless was worth the price of admission. The menu is seasonal, but everything was prepared to perfection with local flavors elevated with class. Most definitely will be coming back next time we find ourselves in New Orleans.
Beverly Toups
The best damn Cajun cooking with a sophisticated culinary twist you’ll ever find! If you’re not eating here, you’re sleeping. Incredible staff, best mixologist, and fantastic hospitality! Don’t thing, just GEAUX!
Nick Pollock
A great experience! The ambience and vibe were great…. little upscale but relaxed and casual. I went by myself and was welcomed by the waitress and even had a great conversation with a couple next to me. The food was phenomenal! Gulf shrimp appetizer was ridiculously tasty as was the seafood dish I had for an entree. I really wanted to check this place out for my first New Orleans visit and was not let down.
Sasha Campbell
The restaurant has potential I didn't like the fact that you had to make reservations before going and that's not currently posted on the website. I had the meatry board which was OK but I've better for less. The cracklin and pickled veggies that came with it were the highlight of the board.
Lorie Beasley
The food was AMAZING ! The staff was very very friendly and the chef even came out and explained everything that was on our meat board . We sat out on the patio and was glad we did . Love the mural on the building ! GO !!! Thank you all so much !
Brett Scheuber
It was amazing food selection and meats in general! The meat platter was a good sharer
Kristin T
Excellent charcuterie platter!! Everything was homemade and simply delicious. Very creative local inspired cocktails.
Jacob Rumpf
Oh my God. Go here. The tasting plate was amazing and was well described by the server and the special: bone marrow with demi, crostinis with chicken liver paté and Stilton was close to the best thing I have ever tasted, and then washed down with Jameson poured into the bone. Heavenly.
Sy Na
Excellent meat plate. Excellent chicken thighs confit. Perfectly juicy and flavorful. The duck was also most excellent as the fat was rendered perfectly. The seafood couvillion is skippable.
E S
Food was excellent. We had the Cheese board, spicy chicken livers and pork cracklin to start.👍👍 Drinks were on point. 👍 Main was Pork Chop and Lump Crab Salad. 👍👍 …

Food was 5 stars. I will go ahead and get that out of the way right now. Had the Confit Lamb Belly, the Charcuterie Board, and the Wagyu Steak, all great. We made a reservation for 2 and got there on time. After being sat it was 15 minutes before we were greeted for the first time. We completed our first face to face in less than 20 seconds giving our complete order with two cocktails, two apps, and an entree all to be done family style which we let the waiter know. About 15 minutes later all of our dishes came out at the same time, then after they hit the table, our 2 cocktails we ordered finally hit the table, it seems like they had been dying a while in the window. As everything arrived all at once rather than coursing the entree as we had hoped, we did dig in and really enjoy a tasty meal. We finally got a check in from someone after we had finished and were ready to pay. At no point did any of the servers give us eye contact when speaking to us except for the bartender with a great beard who ran our food and went over the meat board with us thoroughly and very knowledgeable. Normally I only write good 5 star reviews but as being a server in the industry I am sure Isaac Toups expects more from his staff. The place was only about half full, not extremely busy, and no one working (with the exception of the bartender) seemed to be moving with any gumption, more of a sense of apathy.
Brad Shrum
I don't typically do reviews, but this place was just so good that I recommend it to anybody in the area. The service was great. The food was spectacular. I could rave on and on about how good this was. I recommend it. They even let you buy a round for the kitchen staff if you feel that they did well.
Ian Atwater
A phenomenal sit down experience! Staff was attentive and friendly, giving us intimate recommendations on food and drink to match our interests. Cozy atmosphere, would absolutely return to when back in the state.
Tiffanie Lynn (Bella)
This place is hands down the best dishes that our group of 4 has ever had!! It was amazinggggg!! A MUST TRY!! I cannot WAIT to go back!! Also, Be sure to make a reservation, just in case!! A++

Pretty good restaurant with okay service. Our waiter was so distracted that day. The portion was good and the flavour was pretty interesting.
Andrew Whitney (Anz)
Definitely get the Meatery Board, which included a whole bunch of really interesting and delicious house-cured meats. We also got the crab claws, which were excellent and an impressively large portion compared to what I expected. The cocktails were very good (looks like the menu changes frequently, but I recommend whatever they've got with fat-washed spirits), though slight pet peeve that too many of them are served on the rocks that really should be served up or as a highball. We were there for a late-ish brunch - the restaurant was pretty empty, we sat at the bar, and the atmosphere chatting with the staff was pleasantly convivial.
Diallo Jones-Brown
All dishes were expertly prepared and tasty. The goat chiliquiles were especially nice.
Bonnie Berkley
Lots of meaty options that were all tasty. We got a platter-esk option for appetizers and the venison as a main to split. The portions were a good size and everything was good…. But nothing was great. Also, the hallway and bathroom smelled atrocious which was quite a turn off. I would try it again before making a final decision on the place.
Chris Foreman
Venture out of the French Quarter and you will be pleasantly surprised. I was there the week after Mardis Gras so the place was quiet on a Monday. The drinks are unique, the one I had used whiskey infused with with pork fat that is slow cooked behind the bar, it was amazing. I ordered the charcuterie board as my whole meal and everything was perfect. Every item was made in house, it was a perfect sampling of their expertise, and it was a lot of food. The pork belly cracklin candy was mind blowingly good.
Sylvia Looney
Lovely, cafe style, eatery in Mid-City, New Orleans! Indoor/ outdoor dining is available. Staff is accommodating and the drinks are soooo good!!! Delightful!
Steve Acosta
Service was very good, but the food was great. Boudin balls for appetizer was delicious and the duck for the entree was amazing! Highly recommend!!
Mahyar Sadri
Excellent food! If you are a carnivore this is the place for you. The best pork crackling I have ever had and the mains were on point. The double cut pork chop was a highlight and was cooked perfectly.
B K
Not a single dish on the menu is bad. Service far exceeds expectations. The quail was one of the best meals I've had this year. Starter was a pork belly corn dog. Next time I'm in New Orleans, this is my first stop!
Lee Coursey
I am a fan of Issac Toups, so getting to come to New Orleans and eat at his restaurant was awesome. We had the Meat Board and Pickle Board plus the confit chicken and the pork chop (holy moly, you didnt know what a pork chop could be!). All of it was delicious, and the environment was cozy. Staff was warm and welcoming.
Lou Brownlee
The food was ok, but the bartender was very polite and helpful. I'll have to try them again before I cast judgement.
Iris Guzman
Food was good overall except for 2 things. They should really warn people about how spicy the fried quail is. It was so spicy to the point of being inedible. Also, we sat at the bar before a group of folks showed up and were attended to AFTER them and there were only two of us. We had the Boudin Balls which were flavorful and not greasy on the outside at all. We also ordered the shrimp that was made well and the sauce was perfect to dip the slightly tough piece of bread it came with (we did arrive around 9:30pm in their defense). I had the quail and shared it with my husband who has a very high tolerance for spice. Neither one of us could get through it, so we just picked at it. The final item we had was the pork chop. Definitely worth the 40 min+ wait, but not at 10pm at night. This place is really meant for a special occasion and not a late night meal drop in. Make reservations ahead of time if you want good service.
THOMAS SWEARINGEN
Food was okay, had some questions about menu items, server just kinda blew us off. Hard to believe she was so disrespectful, bill was over $150.00.
Mouton In Motion
First indoor luncheon since the pandemic. My sister & I both had this restuarant at the top of our "want to go" list and in no way did they disappoint. Quick/courteous reservations, followed by a genuinely friendly welcome upon arrival. It was not crowded which was perfectly fine. Our gentleman server was relatable, funny and just a real nice guy. The food was exceptional. EXCEPTIONAL. We sacrificed every morsel😁. The Crispy Fried Turkey Neck were huge, lightly battered with a sweet and savory flavor and the meat super tender. It was kind of hard to eat and look cute but who cares when it taste SO good. My sis had the pickle platter and discovered a whole new palate. I followed up with the Lump Crab Salad which did not cheat on one ingredient. I had enough crab meat from start to finish and the beautiful boiled quail eggs, tangy non-consuming dressing, black sesame seeds, tomatoes, etc., combinations were delicious. Some may consider this establishment pricey yet we got our money's worth & then some. We took home an order of seasoned cracklin which is not to be missed & you will not want to share...
Visitors and locals should make every effort to discover this food gem.

Better than average food, interesting dishes such as Turkey necks. Good cocktails, Staff and service below average, rushed and cold
Will choose another place next time
Lindsey Costello
The food was a little fatty/greasy for my taste, but others may love it. Everyone was nice and the place had a laid back vibe, but it just wasn't my jam.
Greg Blair
Had the elk chops and endless mimosas. Outstanding! Ambiance was great as was the wait staff. Mimosas ..oh my!
Justin Stymacks
This place is awesome! Passing through the area and so glad I stopped. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, really nice menu options that change monthly. Definitely going again if I'm in the area. Bryson, if you read these, try chocolate bitters in that drink we talked about!
David Litrenta
Look, this is a review that could go either way.
That being said, it's going to go positive, because despite an appetizer mix-up and a very long wait, everything was spectacular
The beer and wine selection was through and amazing. The menu was accurate, and the tartare special was balanced, clean, and delicious. Even the app mixup was immediately fixed and hassle free, and we got to try the incredible artichokes without ordering them😉.
The entrees did take quite a while to arrive, but it looked like the FOH staff was just stretched too thin and seated all over the place. That's not their fault, that's FOH Management's fault. So we can look past all that, and an apparent kitchen mix-up, to our entrees arriving.
The double cut chop was well worth the price, fat rendered perfectly with a hint of char, and the incredible succulent flavor of a top shelf cut of pork, for an insanely reasonable price.
The seafood couvillion was spectacular as well, from the butter and savory crab fat rice to the fresh head on shrimp that just melted away in my mouth, to the well seasoned and flaky delicious fish.
Thank you to the crew there for your best efforts, and a wonderful dinner
Kim Bieder
Best Artichoke I have ever had! All around great place but that dish I’ll remember for a long time. Unique sauce and perfectly tender. Delicious!
David Adcock
Delicious! We had roasted gulf shrimp as a appetizer great flavor. My wife had LA jumbo lump crab meat chop salad and she said that it must have had a pound of crab meat in it. I had the Reuben sandwich and it was fantastic! We got to see chef Isaac toups and he signed a cook book for us! We will definitely be eating there again asap.
Armando Cardona
It was everything we hoped it would be! We ordered cracklins and crab claws to start... Stellar!!! Just the right heat and the right crunch. The crab claws.... Just wow!!! My wife ordered gulf coast couvillion and I had confit chicken thighs. My plate was one of the best dinners I've ever had... Chicken thighs had a wonderful sauce, coupled with the greens (bacon pieces were meaty and wonderful)... Magnificent! We flew in just for the weekend and made a point to stop in. We even caught a glimpse of Chef Isaac! The staff was great and service was excellent.
Oh, the cocktails were fantastic, especially the pork chops and applesauce.
David Fischer
Really a very good restaurant outside of the downtown area. Although the food is very good, flavors are not that strong and service is sometimes lacking. I was seated facing out the window, and it was really dirty. I wish I could give the restaurant 4.5 stars, because it's really good, but there are some small items that need to be buttoned up.
Diana Macku
Actually didn't get to experience it...yet. Went there for Happy Hour only to find it was closed. Hopefully I will get to bring my son there before he has to return home!
Matthew Clemmons-Mitchell
FANTASTIC!!! STAFF WAS WARM AND FRIENDLY & THE FOOD AND DRINK WAS BUSSIN!!! Well Done Toups... DELICIOUS 😁😁😁
Sophie Collett
A tasty modern take on Cajun food. Delicious pork and seafood dishes. Everything was very rich and portions are very generous - we definitely over ordered and rolled out of there! The waiting staff were so wonderful - very attentive and shared lots of local advice. We also met Chef Toups and got a personalized signed book. Great visit.
Helen Teeples
The meat and cheese boards were a hard disappointment. Our waitress had so much personality I loved it BUT she kept forgetting about us. And when she would false hopes of water. Nice area and great building. I picked to eat inside but was seated outside and stuff kept falling in my drink and food. The main dishes were tasty but not worth the price, time and frustration. Also I asked for the pickles and the waitress said plenty on the boards it only had pineapples and zucchini/squash.
Crosby Ritter
TOUUUUPS! Amazing. The wagyu and porch chops were out of this world!! Skip the lamb ribs.
Mary Cabarles
Fantastic meat board. Double pork chop was huge. Great for sharing. Tasty beers. Come early to be seated right away. Or make reservations.
Christopher Madsen
One of the best meals of my life, everything we had was phenomenal and delicious. Simple atmosphere with decent cocktails and frankly amazing food. If you are a meat eater this place will make you happy!
Adam Yoho
Went for happy hour, everything was great. Beautiful afternoon sitting on the patio
Ryan Ireland
I would give this four stars if the prices had been a little lower. But for what you pay, the value deserves three stars. Don't get me wrong—the food is quite good, but not good enough that I would need to go back. The service was fine (our food was timed all wrong and we both watched each other eat and the drinks came out separately, so nothing was really paired well. Again, not a huge deal, except the price felt like more attention should be paid to the dining experience).
Blake Young
A great Mid City creole establishment. We swung thru for their new Sunday brunch and the bottomless mimosas. The food was creative and very well prepared. Bonus is Pandora’s Snowballs is directly next door for dessert!
wesley lee
Service was excellent. Came for lunch and had the lunch special (boudin, burger, beer). Boudin cooked excellently, a bit meaty but the sauce matched it perfectly. Burger was juicy, well seasoned patty, and paired nicely with crisp buns, yellow radish, and bacon. Definitely a hefty and satisfying lunch! Highly recommend
Richard Hages
Vegetarians beware, this place is awesome, it will make you a carnivore . Rillions (candied pork belly) is amazing.
Bennett Joseph
Great food, location, friendly staff. I had venison for the first time and enjoyed it immensely.
Patricia Hale
Delicious food with generous portions. Food leans on the salty side, which I loved but I know is an acquired taste. I would recommend getting the meat board and sharing an entree. I would definitely go again.
Marcos Ruiz
Excellent experience from beginning to end. Great environment and atmosphere. Would definitely hace to make this a stop every time I come back to New Orleans. If you looking for a recommendation; if it's on the menu it's delicious so get it.
David Nguyen
Great food. Got the steak and it was excellent. They also do a lot for the community so I am glad to do my part to help them out as well. Highly recommend.
Tee Ayyy
Toups is great! Love the restaurant, our dinner was absolutely to die for. These people are great owners who go to bat for their community.
Matt Pelto
One of my favorites! I've been coming here for years and it's always a great experience.
traci vw
Yum! I was a craving a beautiful piece of meat and that's exactly what I got. The wagyu steak was tender and flavorful and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. My partner is smoked duck cassoulet was amazing also. Service was good, sitting at the bar was perfect. One app we ordered didn't come out, there was some mix up I guess. Oh and the pickle plate was freaking delicious if you're into that sort of thing! And we were
Michael Dalton
Great staff super friendly and helpful, unbelievable huge portion meat so tender
JAN BULLOCK
Great food and folks. Always our go to spot in NOLA.
Hunter Knighton
This place is awesome. Small kitchen so it takes a little long to get food but it’s worth it.
For dessert get the bacon doberge.... you’re welcome
Lisa Murphy
While the servers and staff were not great... the food was exceptional and a great value for what we got! I tried foods that I was sure I would dislike, and I LOVED them. Highly refined.
Radaja Williams
Really great flavors and great dishes. Great whiskey selection. Definitely a gem!
Christopher Tran
Nice chill spot to eat well, sip some libations and catch up with old friends. Small plates and large. Pics not shown but the boudin balls, cornbread and rillons were all excellent!
justin carter
They got us a Seay quick even though they were busy. The food was so good and prices were also great
Alicia Johnson (Lei)
Food was great (once we got our burger fixed). Our server was wonderful.
Starasia Starr
Best cornbread I ever had. Get the small plates. The fried turkey necks were to die for. Don’t be afraid to get down and dirty with them and slurp out all that good stuff. The chicken liver mousse was heaven, served with carmelized onions, pickled cabbage, and bread. But I enjoyed the delicate flavor without any accoutrements whatsoever. Great service and nice atmosphere.
Vaughn Leatherwood
They have the best happy hour. The cracklins are fresh made and absolutely wonderful. They are hot, spicy and meaty and worth the trip. The pork ruillons are spicy and the homemade ricotta adds just the right flavor to the dish. The boudin balls have a terrific mustard sauce and pickled squash (an old family recipe) that I could have eaten a bowl of. Chef Toups was in the restaurant when we were there and was extremely personable and was happy to to talk to us about his time on top chef. It was a very enjoyable experience and we will be back.
Evan P
One of the best experiences we have had in the city in awhile. Great food, bourbon and service. Love visiting Toup's.
Nana Angie
Had brunch on a Sunday. The weather was perfect so we sat outside, great service from all four employees we had contact with. I had the redfish Benny, perfectly poached egg, perfectly fried fish, an amazing hollandaise and lacquered collard greens. We also tried the shrimp fried rice and boudin balls. Everything was delicious and served quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed the brunch.
Josh Leto
Great food and large portions to account for the pricey menu. Definitely will come back.
Adam Russell Haas
Food was absolutely amazing, but service not so much. When waiting to be seated we were met by a hostess who was neither warm nor inviting . When asking questions about the menu we just got short one word answers and were made to kind of feel like they just didn't want us there. We came and went pretty quickly due to the tense atmosphere. Food 5 stars, service 3.
Mike Caldarera
As soon as we walked in, the hostess was joking with us & totally fun. After seated, our server, Zack, was also super awesome & a great time. And, let’s not forget, the food was amazing! We ordered cracklins, chicken liver mousse, turkey necks, a salad, and the wagyu steak with potatoes & it was all SO FRIGGIN’ GOOD! Unique dishes with fantastic flavor. Can’t wait to come back again next time we’re in town.
Chelsea Tanous
Amazing food! Charismatic service! There was a bit of a delay getting started (we sat for about 45m in a mostly empty room before being able to order drinks), but after that it was smooth sailing.
Brian Watson
A short trip on the street cars from the French Quarter, this place is a must for the meat lovers out there. Outstanding meals and sampler boards for those unable to choose exactly what they want.
Andrea Heming
I've been dining here for years. I love the vibe, the food is EXCELLENT, and the whiskey selection will blow your mind compared to most. The family that runs it treats everyone like family and I always leave smiling.
Michael Hays
Boudin was excellent, as was the Reuben. Took a bit to get our food, 30 minutes, but with the way of current shortages, I think that is just gonna be the norm, so account for that if expecting a quick lunch. But overall, very much enjoyed it
Nubs
The charcuterie board, boudin balls, crab lump salad, and chicken thighs were all great.
Jim McGehee
Came into Toups Sunday for Brunch. Didn't have a reservation, but were given the options of seating outside or at the bar as walk-ins. We sat at the bar and immediately noticed how friendly the staff was to each other and to the guests. Our bartender/server was Jess and she was fantastic!
On to the food.....WOW! Easily some of the best Boudin Balls I've had. I hope these make it to Beer, Bourbon & Boudin because they're great. I had the chicken and greens sandwich and my wife had the burger. Both were also top tier.
This place cares about it's menu, and cares about the guest experience. The staff got along very well and were engaging to themselves and to those around them. Good food and a fun place to eat. Definitely recommend!!
Moe Dingo
Toup burger and redfish wasn't all that great. Idk about other menu items. Server was great tho.
Becca Carneiro
My bf and I are in love with this place! Absolutely everything we had was delicious, great relaxed atmosphere, super friendly staff. Can't think of a single thing we'd want different other than the ability to stop ordering more food. We left so full, but happy! We split the smoked duck, meatery board, and small plates of boudin balls and cracklins and it was more than enough food...But we had to try the coffee cake with French press coffee and I'm so glad we did. We both got cocktails as well and thought they were beautifully made and presented. Our server was so attentive and friendly. We have already made a mental note to come back the next time we're in NOLA.
Hayes Weggeman
Great food. It is a bit on the pricey side but as everybody knows ingredients and meats have all gone up. Dined outside to keep distance. They were out of double cut pork chop which is what I wanted so went for the Wagyu beef. It was good. Will have to return when they get the pork chops in. They use local suppliers and the hurricane has impacted some of them.
Colin Marley
I had one goal when visiting NOLA and it was to eat at least one meal here and tonight I made it happen. I had the wagyu steak and it was the most delicious and flavorful meal i've had in my life. The potatoes that were served with it blew my mind. I will have to come back when the NCAA fans haven't gone through all of their beer already haha but this was the best meal I've ever had and I can't wait to get to try more of the menu.
Philip Maranto
Our meals were Amazing! The manager Molly was absolutely awesome! She explained each of the entrees we chose and even helped us pick some great starters. My girlfriend and I will definitely be regulars there!! Thank you Molly for the great experience! We’ll be back!
Cameron Kouns
Very friendly staff. Great service. Delicious food.
Braden Lemon
Excellent service, everyone is very friendly. The food selection is amazing!
Kayla Latham
Super awesome mimosas! As I drank my breakfast, I was very pleased. My companions absolutely loved their meals!
Brett Dubois
Loved this place for brunch. I got the Redfish Benny and my Fiance got the wagyu steak an eggs. Both were excellent. I wanted to start with The Meatery Board, but felt it would have been to much for the two of us. Will definitely have to come back and try it. We eneded up starting with some of the best Cracklins I've ever had instead. Our server Sean was also gracious enough to throw together a cocktail (ol' Stoagie) that was no longer on the menu for me. Chef Toups, if you're reading this and care to send me the recipe for the potatoes that come with the steak and eggs so I don't have to drive from Baton Rouge to get my fix every weekend that would be great lol
John Schwam
Toups is one of those places that is so good you don't know if you should tell everyone to go there or keep it's secret so to the tourists don't mess it up. But you won't, Chef Toups is a master. You won't know what you're getting into but you'll love it. And don't forget Kenny's cocktails.
Derek Pipher
Double thick pork chop!
Maysa Alavi
Chicken thighs were huge and delicious--great value. Veal was also excellent. Pickle appetizer was so unique and great! Drinks were tasty. dessert was nice not overly sweet. Music one of the nights we went didn't fit the space or vibe so much, other night was a bit better music,, but still, Highly recommend.
Shawn McAfee
I will admit, I was a fan of Chef Toups after watching his videos online and am happy to say that visiting his restaurant exceeded my expectations. We had a group of four and we ordered the Pork Chops, Rabbit and Dumplings and the Confit Chicken Thighs. For Appetizers we ordered the Boudin Balls, the Sausage and Louisiana Seafood Gratin. It was a lot of food; it was excellent.
The Pork Chops were cooked perfectly, the Boudin was delightful and the Sausage platter was delicious.
We are visitors to New Orleans and have eaten at quite a few tourist traps; this was not one of them, Toups Meatery was a delight.
To top off the evening, Chef Toups came out(after finding out I was a fan) and signed my book capping off a fantastic evening. We will coming back again.
Melissa Bennett Simeon
Boudin balls are delectable, cracklins are just right and the burgers are juicy. Great atmosphere and knowledgeable service! Would have topped the burger differently but was still an excellent dish cooked to perfection.
Lance L.
Fantastic food, easy parking on street. The Wagyu steak was excellent and the potatoes as well. Also had the spicy shrimp which were awesomely flavored.
Lots of the ingredients are locally sourced which is a rare occurrence.
Great overall.
Corey Wenzel
Absolutely worth the trip. Food is amazing. Meats and pickled veg are fantastic. Take the time to get out of the French Quarter and visit MidCity
dino vaxine
Awesome experience! Marrow and chicken hearts all the way!
Will Monson
You like salads? They got it. You like meats and windows? They got it. You like whiskey and telling your friends that you're into chartreuse? They will make your friends feel like uncivilized dummies.
Shogun
The food here is absolutely amazing everything was cooked beautifully and packed with Cajun flavor.
When we arrived at the restaurant it looked like organized chaos we did not have high hopes for our experience here... Boy were we wrong our waiter (Shaun) was beyond incredible we were blown away by his friendliness and ability to seemingly be everywhere at once. He even took the time to introduce us to the wonderful Issac Toups (big fans)
Could not have had a better time, better food or been around better people. We will be stopping here every time we are in Nola!
Stephen Walker
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our waiter was great and we enjoyed Chef Isaac Toups visiting with us at our table.
Victor Cedeño
As we arrived, the waiter told us that they were fully booked even when tables were empty, I checked OpenTable and there were reservations open at the time I was there… the waiter told us it was impossible, even when we could see our name on the dashboard… not the service you’d are expecting from New Orleans
R. B.
Loved him on Top Chef so was looking forward to trying his restaurant. Ended up getting his Meatery Board and nothing else because it happened to be enough for two people to leave quite full.
It was interesting to say the least. If you're not an adventurous diner I would not recommend. We liked it but definitely agreed next time to opt for something else.
Also he has a Pork & Applesauce cocktail which was recommended. I have to disagree.
Darrin Churchwell
Very fresh ingredients, progressive atmosphere, old school rap softly playing in the background. The food was amazing, and so was our waitress!! We had a great time. We will give them a try the next time we are in New Orleans.... oh and my wife said that the pork chops and apple sauce cocktail 🥃 was delicious …
Jeffrey Martin
Great drinks, outstanding sandwiches and appetizers and helpful friendly wait staff. Best salad in New Orleans!
Courtney Luckhardt
Definitely try the head cheese! Seriously great place that takes already great local ingredients to the next level
Roy Martin
Always an excellent meal here. Dirty rice may be the best thing I've ever eaten. Definitely worth a trip whenever you are in New Orleans.
Aj Vicknair
Great food. We enjoyed the meatery board, the cheese board and the Boudin balls... The food is inexplicably delicious. The only complaint that I have, if I have to have one, is that I would have liked a chef recommended pairing. You get all these great items but my server had no idea which ones to pair or even to offer suggestions. I will definitely be back many times in the future.
Saleemah O
So glad I was finally about to eat here! We had reservations on a particularly cold night when they weren't prepared to provide the heating lamps on the patio. Thinking I would be dining inside, I didn't bring my jacket. Our waiter tried to accommodate as best he could, but unfortunately we had to eat and go, and couldn't enjoy the ambiance because I was so cold! Wagyu steak was amazing and the venison was beautifully done. The crab claws were the star tho - that marinade!!!Make time to stop here to enjoy Chef Toups' creations.

Had an awesome dinner here! Service and food was great! They have daily specials that are not always on the menu ! I highly suggest you try one of those ! You won't be disappointed!
Wouter de Bie
We had a lovely dinner here! Tours has a wide selection of meats, from beef to pork to poultry, rabbit and fish. All delicious. Also, the cocktails are creative and tasty. Highly recommended for meat lovers That want something else than BBQ.
Faryl Seabaugh
Best restaurant we've been to in a long time!
Kirsten Heintz
Best dining experience I've had all year! I highly recommend the Meatery Board and the crab claws and the cocktails are wonderful too! Lots of outdoor seating, and if you need an other encouragement, Chef Isaac and his wife Amanda have been helping feed the community throughout the pandemic!
Alexis Bertoldo
I was staying at an air bnb down the street visiting the city and decided to have dinner there. The bartender, Jennifer, was amazing! She suggested the sour tangerine beer and the Wagyu steak and both were amazing. I even ran into her at a restaurant in town the day after and she suggested my girlfriends and I do brunch there... so we did. And it was just as amazing! I highly recommend.

SERVICE: 5/5
FOOD: 5/5
VIBE: 5/5
Wow, this place was tasty. We ordered the Meatery Board, and I had the Venison. I enjoyed trying many things for the first time on the board: hog’s head cheese, rillons, boudin balls, cracklins, chicken liver mousse (although I wasn’t particularly fond of this one). Honestly I didn’t need the venison dish because the board was so filling (and awesome), but I’m still glad I got it because it was delicious and just as enjoyable! We sat outside for dinner, and it was such a cute, relaxing place at night with the vibrant mural and little lights. We took our server up on all the suggestions they made, including drinks, and not a single thing disappointed. You will not regret coming here, and when you do, bring a large appetite and try as much as possible!

Make sure you go see Kat! She bartends on Sundays; she is wicked kind and super smart. The food is freaking amazing! I had the boudin balls. I loved them!!
The shrimp fried rice was made with crab fat butter. This joint is so underrated; check them out of you're visiting Nola!
Jon Tipton
Excellent food, perfect drinks, and incredible service.
Tessa Jean
Boudin balls: delicious
Pork: done to perfection
Dirty rice: flavorful
Carrot cake: best I have ever had
The chef deserves 10/10.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Short ride on the Street car from canal street. Stops right in front of the restaurant.

Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was super chill. We had the lamb neck and we were glad that we split it amongst two people. No way I could've finished that. The sauce was a tad salty but no other comments about that. The meat board was the highlight for us as it gave us a broad range of what the restaurant had to offer in terms of flavors and options. The cracklins were amazing!
Sarah Bates
My fiancé is a hardcore fan boy of Chef Isaac's. Our trip to NOLA would not have been comet without a visit to Toups. The food was absolutely amazing. Our group ordered individually and shared our meals and there was nothing that we didn't like. The flavor combinations were 🔥. …
Herb Vandenberg
Really great food and the portions sizes are great.
Sam Drogin
Excellent food. Unique menu. Wait staff was friendly and responsive. Must try the cracklings.
frank miller
Had a great time. The menu is pretty unique, don't be afraid to try some different items. The meat board is worth a try, everything was good and some things really stood out. Cracklin and cornbread are must tries.
Phillip Lounphom
Great staff and amazing food. The fried chicken sandwich was the perfect little meal.
Kassandra Lopez
They easily had the best boudin I’ve ever had! The duck was amazing so tender and flavorful! My friend had the venison and she said it’s the best she’s ever had. We’ve been so excited to go and we were not let down! I would’ve loved for them to have a combination cheese and meat charcuterie board instead of two separate ones.
We will be be back!

Toups Meatery was amazing. We heard about the restaurant and asked a few locals and they raved about it. It was everything we could have wanted! Superb drinks and as a bourbon guy, such a great selection! The Meatery board was a great appetizer for the table and then we split two entrees between 4 people.
Ryan Brohman
We had an excellent meal here. The crab claws, venison and chicken thighs were all great. Really extensive drink menu including a lot of good bourbon choices. Service was quick, attentive and friendly and our server knew about all the dishes on the menu. Highly recommended spot.
Morgan Campbell
We made a reservation at Toups-plenty of time availability we had even changed our reservation time to a later time. We got our table quickly Sunday at 630pm. We sat outside, nice evening. Service was adequate. We got the Pickle plate-was ok; Cheese board-good; Corn bread-awesome; Sausage of the day- good; Chicken thigh confeit-was ok mustard sauce was odd greens on plate were best part; Duck-very good, sauce did not make sense; Wagyu steak-not great, chewy, sauce did not make sense, it was a skirt steak but was not indicated on menu very misleading, the greens were really good; peanut butter cookies-warm but not great kind of dry. At the end of the day the sauces did not make sense and the greens with each meal were great! We had high hopes but would not return.
calise patterson
Just had the most amazing dinner at Toups again! We started with the cheese and the meat board, must try. All of our entrees were wonderful. I had the Couvillion and my boyfriend had the pork chop, the special salad was also super fresh. The service and drinks were excellent. Can't wait to go back!
Kevin Byrne
Hole in the wall feel and look, mainly because it is - more importantly, fantastic stuff! The meats board was incredible, especially the Hogs Head cheese which was unlike anything I had before. All 10 of us were exceptionally happy ....and full, after having brunch there. Great staff and wonderful bar. Highly recommended
Raymond Sweet
It was great. The cornbread was a bit dry. The dirty rice was a bit wet, but had a great taste. The sausage was really nice. I think the staff needs more Black people. You're in a 60% black city. Your staff should reflect the same.
Wyatt Gage
This restaurant is the primary reason I wanted to come to NOLA for a long weekend trip. I had previously followed one of Mr. Toups advice when making gumbo for a party and had loved it. Coming here I had high expectations and they were completely blown out of the water. We started with the special of roasted bone marrow with chicken hearts as well as the accompanying Jameson luge through the bone. For main courses we had the Wagyu, Variety Meat Plate, as well as the Rabbit. I quite literally went feral, foregoing forks and knives and choosing my fingers to eat the rabbit and navigate the bones. If you are coming to New Orleans you have to include this on your trip. There are flavors and textures i have never experienced before in my life here.
Phil Wingo
Loved it , burger is so beefy

Review is for the brunch menu. Cracklins were delicious as were the boudin balls. Bottomless mimosas were a great deal and tasty as well. Coffee was very mediocre, and the shrimp fried rice and salmon toast were very disappointing. It’s the south and I know there are cockroaches everywhere, so it didn’t really bother me that there was one running around the floor for our entire visit, but it didn’t help either. Dinner menu looked way more appetizing, perhaps we just came at the wrong time.
Krysty S
Incredible as always. The Meatery Board is essential! Always something new on there every time I go and it's fantastic. I tried the seafood Couvillion this time and was blown away. Great cocktails, and the Cracklins are a MUST HAVE! Literally can't get better anywhere. I love this place, I love these people! I can't recommend this highly enough!
Kelsey Porter
Wonderful experience! The food was delicious. Service was great. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu items. She offered great suggestions and she was friendly.
Alyssa Carter
I am head over heels for the meat board. Everything is made in-house and the candied pork belly had my spouse and I trying to poke each other with the forks to get the last piece. The pork chop was out of this world and the dirty rice it comes with is like stepping back in time. We were so full our plans to go to the ice cream shop were shot, and we couldn’t be happier. The servers were polite and funny.
Joel Duran
I recently went here with my family. When I am dining out in Mid-city this place is always at the top of my list. Once again I was not disappointed. My family could not stop raving about the food. Everything on the menu is delicious with huge portions. Isaac and Amanda were both sitting at the bar and took a few minutes out of their busy day to chat with me. Amazing how they are still so humble even with all of their success.
William Stevens
Couldn't get in for dinner, optedfor a late lunch. Their wagu burger was amazing, the shrimp appetizer to die for. Service was great!
Anthony Gregory
I really enjoyed Toups. I stopped by because I saw the awesome outreach they did during Christmas to ensure that folks had a decent dinner and I just had to come support them. Cheese board and the meat board were great. Definitely try the craklins and the hog head cheese. 9/10, would definitely go back.
David Lee
Duck was sublime. Meat boat was a nice addition. Cocktails well balanced.
Carlos Castañeda
Great for a date night, especially the outdoor tables abutting a fairly quiet street. Food is all top notch and special (foia gras and Wagyu beef anyone?). They had plenty of space and we made reservations on a holiday when other places were all booked. The service was professional and even friendly too.
The only downside is the price. It's not surprising but, still, it's a place that serves relatively small portions for a lot of money, so leave it for special occasions when you're willing to splurge.
A K
The food was almost perfect here. I was nervous looking at the menu but wanted to try something new. Highly recommend the chicken thighs and cheese board. Excellent staff as well! I will absolutely be back soon.
Alex Strojny
Super amazing, best chicken my fiance has had, amazing shrimp
Duke Beasley
I would honestly give a 4.5. Some things were phenomenal. The burger was excellent, the cornbread, excellent, the cucumber salad, fantastic. We also had the meaty platter, which was more hit and miss. I thought the cracklins had too much Creole seasoning, although a good fry. Sausage, the pork belly pate, the hoghead cheese were top notch. I didn't care for the chicken liver pate, but I've never been a fan. Wasn't impressed with the candied pork belly. The roast beef was too thin to carry any flavor. The pickled things were very good. I had the in house made lavender soda, and it was delicious. Make a reservation.
Sean Bartz
Great steak and my wife liked the cats that come to the tables
Tom Jones
Interesting take on many items. I got the fried chicken sandwich and while pretty good, sauce was too vinegary for me. Pickle platter was all savory and again too vinegary for my liking.
C Startz
Had to try this place after watching Chef Issac on Top Chef and the amazing food he made on there. His restaurant lived up to the expectations. The staff was amazing and friendly and the food was delicious. Even things I would never normally eat I had to try and loved, amazingly with all the pork and beef dishes the most surprising was a squab dish that my non-red meat eating friends ordered. Not something I would pay all the time but definitely worth it when you want to treat yourself!
Patrice Cleghorn
Exceptional in every way!!! The meatery board was superb by far the best we have ever had. From smooth and silky to crunchy, salty and sweet. The meatery board left your tastebuds firing on all cylinders. Left you wanting more!!! The main dishes were as exceptional. They leave you with a great food experience from start to finish.
Monofuu
Ordered the pork chop with dirty rice. It was well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and HUGE. The fat cap was well rendered and it was overall the best pork chop I’ve ever had. They have an amazing charcuterie board with some delicious cracklin’s and rillons
John Berger
Had pretty high expectations going into my meal at Toup's, but was a little bit disappointed. While the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, the cocktails on the menu are strange (I still can't decide if I liked my black garlic/vinegar drink) and the food was flavorful and thoughtful but nothing to write home about. For the price, I think you can do a lot better.
Todd Smith
Great Place, best Pork Chop in Town. Try it and say it isn't, I dare you.
Lee/Luis Centeno/Daquin
We decided to tryout something different and we came to this restaurant just because we were looking for a brunch place. The hosts looked at me from top to bottom if I had reservation which makes me feel not very welcomed. He let us go in. The place wasn’t full but we waited a lot for our food, I think the food was good but a little bit pricey. The waiter never didn’t check with me for more coffee, I requested a toast and wait for a long time for it and I had to remind him.
Not a very good impression for a first time.
Joe Bost
Absolutely phenomenal. We went with a group and shared everything. Dishes were perfectly cooked and well thought-out. Excellent cocktails as well. I recommend the meatery board, beet martini, chicken thighs, and the beef tenderloin (but honestly everything is good)!
Matt Mitchell
Cool concept and delicious meats. The service on the other hand needs improvement. We arrived at 6 30 and were told by the waiter they are out of lamb neck and it had to cook another 4hrs....so your are not actually out your cook just showed up 4 hrs late? We were also told the same thing for the stew...."it needs another 45 minutes to cook". Regardless our order took a full hour to come out, how about some bread or something while we wait?! Nada!
Jolie Rain
This is one of my top favorite places. I have food dreams about Toups. The meat platter is ever changing but there is never anything bad. Chef Toup is an artist. The double bone in pork chop is worthy of kicking my husband out of bed and spending the night with it!! The venison was mind blowing!!! It really inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and try to create my own unique dishes. It gave me a fire that I was missing in my life.
Tawnya Guthrie
We can’t find decent boudin in Missouri (most people don’t even know what it is). This place has been on our list for over a year. The boudin balls were awesome. I didn’t think it could get any better, but that BBQ rabbit......not just the best rabbit I’ve ever had, but flat out one of the best cooked pieces of meat I’ve had. Hats off to the kitchen staff.
Taryn Alexandros
This place never disappoints. We shared some apps with friends at the outdoor tables, ordered entrees and drinks. A great night. Service was great even though they were clearly understaffed. Well done.
Joost Morsink
This is one of the most difficult reviews to write; hopefully I can explain why. Toups is a meat oriented restaurant that really challenges your taste. Some dishes are really phenomenal, like the lamb neck or bone marrow that just melt in your mouth. For other dishes, you need a more acquired taste. Personally, I like pate and most dishes with liver, but definitely not a table favorite. We also had a 20 Oz dry cured steak, which honestly smelled like fish oil. Even though the restaurant delivered exactly what we ordered, six people on our table didn't like it and most didn't like it at all. So here I am troubled: this is exactly what we ordered and it probably tasted like it should, but ordering a 20 Oz steak that is then mostly left untouched is kind of a bummer. That's why I gave it 4 stars.
Bart Colosino
Wow finally got to try this place for the first time. I really loved the place. Ordered the cheese and meat board samplers. I figured this was the easiest way to sample as much as I could. I was blown away with how good everything was. If you are in the area I would stop in. They are working on reservations only so call ahead. I didn't know this but they had an opening and got us a table right away. It's alittle pricy but worth the experience.
Jerrod Elliott
This place was amazing. 45 minutes to wait for the pork chop was worth it. Venison was delicious. Bourbon selection was extensive. Get there at for happy hour and they charge you their cost per ounce on a select top shelf spirit (they choose). Today was Thomas Hardy Sazerac!! I can not do this place justice with words alone.
Tiffany
The food is amazing. I am forever ruined. I'll never be able to eat cornbread again, because I'll know it could be better. The chicken sandwich. Do it.
Andre Sawyer
Really good food and atmosphere near Mid City. Try the chicken liver spread. Its not what you'd imagine from chicken liver. So good i can't remember what entree i had.
Andrew Schoeffling
Excellent. We go every time we are in New Orleans. Some of the best meals we've ever had. The service is also great . I would rate it a 6 if I could.
M Minchala
Omg, what a great meal. The turkey necks are insane! The mussels with black eyed peas were perfection. From now on a trip to NOLA isn't complete without a trip to Toups.
Lucas Rifkin
Amazing food, original cocktails. Great service. Went here with some out-of-town guests and really enjoyed it. Apparently somebody saw the chef on a television show, Top Chef. I am not familiar with it. This chef was out of town at the time but everything was superb in his absence and nobody was disappointed.
Gary McNabb
Meat is the star here, and it shines brightly. Charcuterie board was a marvel, with the best boudin ball I ever had and pork cracklings that were almost good enough to bring a tear to my eyes. Everything was delicious and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend Toups Meatery to anyone visiting New Orleans.
Nadia Breaux
Amazing service and even better food. The Meatery Board was delicious and the waiter was very knowledgeable, and was able to explain everything on the board. Fair pricing for the quality of the food and the amount that you get.
Eric Snyder
Visit started with terrible service. Waited at least 30 minutes to be served water. The wait staff seemed to be a bit erratic. We got an extra dish and they forgot to bring another. The food was great however. We assumed it was an off night for the serving staff.
Katherine Farkas
My husband watches all the videos featuring Chef - to visit his restaurant and him in person - put a big smile on his face! The Rabbit Dumplings were amazing!!
Tony White
Every bite delicious. Had the meat board, seafood gratin, dirty rice, cornbread, lamb neck. Everything there is exceptional.
Nikki G
Everything was amazing! They had great mocktails as well! Very refreshing! I would absolutely go back the next time I'm in town!
Tyrus Gould
Went with a group of 5 people for lunch. Started with the meatery board and everyone got to try a little bit of everything. I had the seafood couvillion and it was amazing. Tried some of the venison as well and I would have been very satisfied if I ordered that instead for my main course. Next time I’m in town I will definitely be going back for dinner.
Lea M. Callais
Excellent food, this Cajun Chef knows how to do meat properly! My venison was so tender I cut it with no pressure on the knife- gravity was all that was needed. The gratons are perfection! I always have to get 2 orders for my sister & brother-in-law to go!
Lauren Johnson
1st. We felt like the LUCKIEST people in the restaurant.
2nd. It was packed and although they don't require reservations, it is strongly recommended as the reservations that are made fill the restaurant.
3rd. 2 spots at the bar available that we conqured.
4th. It's New Orleans, we were visiting, it was New Years week, and this evening we were not drinking thanks to all the other drinks from the previous nights.
5th. We ordered NA drinks, only crab claws, and were still treated like we were spending money.
This is so important. As someone who likes to have a little something from every place, people think you are cheap and genuinely put you on the back burner.
I wish I could remember their names as it has been over 2 weeks, but we left feeling like this is our local spot.
Highly reccomend for not the quality of the food, but the quality of the service.
Frank Furgal
Great food. We stopped in for just a quick bite. The marinated crab claws were fantastic as were the pickled vegetables.
Dustin Drab
Venison was absolutely amazing. Waitress was a bit overwhelmed but overall we had a good lunch. The meat board app was also fantastic; highlights included boudain balls, chicken liver pate, and candied pork belly.
Keunece Campbell
The food and drink was AMAZING! Dark haired and lovely male bartender made my drink to perfection and I managed to get his attention to tell him personally. Our server was a average height blonde. She was terribly rude. We joined our party after they'd finished their meal and asked for their check. We were rudely told they don't do separate checks. Not doing seperate checks wasn't the problem. I was very good at math, but the manner in which we were told was unacceptable as well as the reason. After our party had dined, we're not joiners. We could've been treated like a separate table, but I digress. I've worked in the industry for about 27 years. If one of my employees treated any of my guests like that, they'd be written up if not fired immediately. Only, and I mean only because she may have been having a bad day and the food and drink was amazing am I ever going back. I believe in second chances. I'll leave another report after next visit. Try it out. I hope you have better luck.
Daniel Campbell
This was nothing short of fantastic. Hot fried quail and catfish Benedict.
Mike Cyrana
The food was delicious and the service was great. I had the meat board and the venison and both were exceptional. The meat board contained way more different kinds of meats than I was expecting, and each one tasted great. The venison was prepared perfectly and tasted better than any steak that I have had in a steakhouse.
R C
Crazy selection of whiskeys, singles, rye, and bourbons! The food was really good, but come hungry! The lunch special that includes boudin balls, a beer and their excellent Toups burger was perfect for two of us to share.
Tip: If you are heading to/from City Park and are taking the sidecars, ask the conductor to drop you off near Toups, since it's conveniently close.
Edris Stone
Ok, only had the sides here. I really like the corn bread. Pork Cracklin is good and they giventou a decent amount. I prefer no seasoning but with, was good. The Hoghead Cheese is different but good. I really want to try the chicken Sandwich but they only make Sandwiches for lunch not dinner. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu.
Suzanne Cox
We came from Baton Rouge to try the Foie Gras. We also tried the cheese board, hog's head cheese and the Toups Burger. Amazing food! The attention to detail was in every bite. Everything even the potato chips were 5 star! We will be back soon!
Conan Smith
Wow! Exquisite dishes ... Pork and chicken the size of your forearm but cooked to flavorful perfection ... Real greens of multiple sorts ... Dirty rice that makes you think mud might be a delicacy. A fine and price-appropriate wine list, fun creative cocktails. To top it off, from the minute you enter the door the staff are ready to take care of you. The only complaint: it's accoustics are a bit difficult for the hard of hearing. But the option there is to shut up and eat!
James Putra
Excellent!! We stopped on the way to the airport and loved it. It's outside.of the crazy tourist area and well worth the trip. All dishes were great, I loved the meat plate. All meats made on site, great hidden gem.
Spencer Callahan
Toups' is a shining beacon of excellence in a city that is already a culinary Mecca. I am a regular visitor to New Orleans, and I went to Toups' for the first time this past weekend (April 2017). The service was great, but the food was transcendental. I had the Beer Braised Oxtail, my brother had the Wagyu steak and my friend had the Couvillion. All were spectacular. The appetizers were perfect, and we are still talking about the rib special. Dessert was a salted caramel, peanut butter, candied bacon, and cayenne cake. Let that sink in for a minute. They have an incredible whiskey selection, and the manager knew it like the back of his hand. Talk to him for pairing suggestions. Make sure you try the Thomas Handy rye from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. If you are a man (or woman) who loves a world class, heavy meal and great whiskey then go to Toups' and thank me later. You're welcome.
Megan Leone
The food....heaven isn't even accurate. Amazing service, wonderful cocktails, but the food is a religious experience. It was epically amazing food with a unique approach to old classics. We went for NYE and their tasting menu was divine.
Tarik Ward
Sometimes you laugh at cute names like "Meatery". But, Toups lives up to the name in the best way.
First thing, get the Meat Plate. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just get it. It has an assortment of house cured and prepared meats and other pickled goodies. It's just fantastic. The only downside is that you might fill up before your meal gets there.
And that would be a shame, especially if you order the double cut pork chop. If they serve pork chops in heaven, this is the dish. A wonderfully prepared pork chop the size of a small island is charred and glazed on the outside served on a bed of savory dirty rice. No frills, no messing around. It's just great.
Don't forget to give yourself some time to browse the (almost) unreasonably long list of whiskey and bourbon selections. It's worth it.
Hans Kuebler
Had the St Charles Seafood entree and can legitimately say I've never had something that tasted more like New Orleans in a bowl than this. Every bite I closed my eyes... just like Grandmaw's. Drinks were tasty and well mixed, and small plates were unique and scrumptious. I highly recommend for a date or anniversary.
Kim Manning
Sat at the bar with friends. Ordered drinks and plates. It was so good.
T “MajeZty” Smith
Great service, good food amazing portions.
alex willett
Toup Meatery is a cute industrial style restaurant with few tables and a mild atmosphere. Five stars to the chefs of this establishment. The food was incredible. The BBQ quail was lightly charred and juicy. The gulf seafood coutillion was spiced perfectly with a mild kick, but strong and distinctive flavor.
Now the reason I am giving toup 3 stars is because of the horredeous service. From the moment we entered, we were treated as if they didn’t want us there. The server had an attitude equivalent to an agitated, pmsing 15 year old girl. I had to ask several times to simply get a straw. We asked for recommendation for whiskey and he simply said “I don’t like whiskey”. He rarely checked on us and when he did, we felt like he really didn’t want to serve us. It was not a pleasant experience and we are unhappy a restaurant with such great food had such poor service.
5 stars for the food
0 stars for the service
Scott Applegate
Staff was amazing and super welcoming. Felt very at home. Food was absolutely immaculate. Perfectly cooked, flavors were amazing, Rillons are a must try. Do yourself a favor and visit this place.
Byron Croker
Had a great dinner here. First time to New Orleans and one of my coworkers brought us to this restraunt. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I recommend the venison.
Ian C
Loved our visit. We had the Gulf Seafood Couvillion and the Veal Schnitzel. Everything was delicious!!
Ben Banister
"Chasing the Gator" by Isaac Toups has been a staple in my kitchen for quite a while now, and I finally was able to make it down to New Orleans to eat at the Meatery.
Not a single negative thing could be said about my experience. The atmosphere, the drinks, the service, and the food were all incredible.
Trent Woodard
Chicken sandwich was great. Rillions are amazing. The fried baloney sandwich shouldn't be ignored either
Rasmus Østergaard
We had the Meat Board for 25$ plus some peeled crab claws (a bit pricey). It is a gastronomic experience. Many taste nuances. Obviously food with love into it. Our son is 10. A bit too advanced for him.
Luke
Wow! Amazing! Had a huge pork chop, tried all the deserts, great cracklins, boudin, hogshead cheese. Very impressed!
Rachel Moore
My husband can't stop talking about the meat plate we enjoyed here; it's worth the short drive out of the Quarter to enjoy the experience.
Definitely make a reservation: we got there early in the dinner rush, and I'm glad we had reserved our time.
Amy Owensby
Food was top notch and deserving of the hype. We arrived at 4:30pm before opening at 5pm. We were standing on the sidewalk near the place when a wait staff canme out and rudely announced that they didn't open until 5pm. We were aware and hadn't even remotely approached the front door. We had driven for 4 hours so we were just stretching our legs. Weather was misty rain and we asked at that point if we could just sit at the outdoor tables under the umbrellas, to which we got an "I guess." I was not terribly convinced that I wanted to stay and spend a dime with them. However we had a family connection to the chef/owner and had been wanting to try the place for 2 years or more. I was 100% prepared to share my thoughts if anything else rude took place. Thankfully we had an amazing server. The rillons were one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Our entrees were divine. No fuss and frills. Exactly what you would expect at a place with "meatery" in the name. A note for the staff: We had a reservation for 5pm that we completed from your website. We were 100% knowledgeable of where we chose to go and the time we arrived. Welcome the folks that are funding your paycheck NO MATTER WHAT.
Jane Hart
Helpful friendly staff. Excellent meatery board and cocktails. Group of 4 people had mainly small plates but perfectly sized for us. All meals were good but wine a little expensive.
Jessica Crutti
Interesting, although maybe a little too adventurous for both of us. Definitely "Hipster Cajun." Best boudin balls we've ever had! I had the artichokes which are whole artichokes with leaves in a vinegary sauce. I'm not sure I ate it correctly and it was a little difficult to eat, but I liked the idea of. Haloumi was good. BBQ quail was just Dry rubbed tiny chicken, not wet BBQ sauce. Salty but tender. Good veggies and watermelon martini.
John Ford Milton
Fantastic place to get Cajun flavors prepared with exceptional skill and served by some cool people. The meatery board is a must, and I highly recommend the shrimp and the crab claws as well. If you want to eat a piece of pork as big as your own head, then the double cut pork chop is the way to go. Toups is a cool guy and his restaurant serves great food. I don't know what more you could want, but if you order a bottle of Dixie lager then you get it in a branded koozie to take home--cool beans.
Candace McGowan
After seeing Isaac on Top Chef, my boyfriend and I had to eat at his restaurant. We grabbed lunch right at 11 and everything was extraordinary. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food was the star of the experience. I ordered the chefs lunch and we split an appetizer of the sweet bread poutine. My boyfriend also ordered the burger and boudin balls. The boudin balls were one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. I need to talk about the burger though. This burger, simply put, was the best burger I've ever had in my entire life. Perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful and juicy. I don't think I can remember a burger that has come close to this.
Overall, a fantastic meal, great service. As a bonus, the man himself was there today and I got to fan girl a bit. But seriously, don't eat here because a celebrity chef runs it. Eat here because the restaurant is amazing! I will absolutely return!
Stephanie DeVoe
Food was fantastic, service was atrocious and atmosphere was LOUD.
Franklin Gilley
Definitely one of the top burgers in town. Although this is not exactly a cheap lunch. I need to explore further on the menu although I suspect all the food is good here. Amazing bourbon selection as well.

Comfort atmosphere but not secluded. Seats hard not to comfortable popular place for a younger crowd. Bathroom small one for both sexes Clean& modernized. Meat eaters of course as named will enjoy menu not vegetarian friendly but there are 3 or 4 dishes to supplement consisting of a variety of vegetables pickles and cheeses overall great place waitress welcoming and friendly. A must check out

Meatery matches what this place is. Shared a Meat Board and the "Dirty Rice" for lunch. Even the rice has meat to it, and tastes awesome! The meat board holds 10 different types of meat dishes, i cannot name them, sorry. Also contains plenty of pickled vegetables. Service was fast, friendly and refilled our waters all the time. Place is clean. Would recommend. You can sit outside.

The best way to describe the food here is: OMG. The burger and fried chicken sandwich are so good, I dream about them at night. Eat here!

Are you ready to have the meat sweats and enjoy it?! then you are in for a treat! Not only is everything on the menu absolutely delicious, but the cocktail menu is just as great. The doberge cake with bacon solidified that I died and went to heaven.
Tara Piergies
This is a small but amazing meat lovers paradise. Must try is the candied pork belly!

The shrimp poboy and crab claws were amazing, the shrimp fried rice was fair at best. The service was poor and wait time for food was excessive (over 1 hr for lunch on a random Saturday). We had no idea that the owner was on Top Chef until we overheard Chef Rick Moonen that was sitting behind us mention it. Chef Moonen eventually left without ever receiving his food and no real apologies from the staff. We snapped a picture of Chef Moonen but can’t quite figure out how to post. We would definitely go back for another meal, but we would make reservations for sure next time. Yes, even for lunch. They also sat Chef Moonen (and us) outside on a chilly day. It seemed like the patrons outside were not a priority. We’re not famous and our waters were never filled, but Neither was a famous chefs. (He never even got his food.)The staff could definitely use some work.

Food was ok. Didn't care for dirty rice. Double pork chop was so so. Looked impressive but taste didn't overwhelm us. Shrimp (appetizer) had swampy taste. Cracklins were ok.
Beer was wonderful! Waiters were good.

Wife and I dined at this fantastic establishment recently. We sat outside on their lovely terrace and had the best bone marrow outside of Europe. The portion sizes are hugewife couldn't finish half of her perfectly done chicken confit on a bed of sauteed greens. We were from out of town and only had a few days in New Orleans, and we're glad we found the time to come to the Meatery.
Nathaniel Welch
A great New Orleans' "hole in the wall". Space was limited but not cramped. Better than Google's keyboard when typing this. Our server was super attentive and the food was excellent. I will go again

Absolutely amazing, a must go if you are in NO
Brian Blazewick
Amazing as always! Everything on the menu is delicious, the venison especially. Glad we were able to celebrate at our favorite spot
Lonny B.
The meat tray ridiculously good! Fun people!

Excellent food and service. The foie gras and the venison were perfection. Wagu beef and chicken livers, delicious. I appreciate that they offer a mocktail (just one, but its a good one) and my boyfriend loved the whisky selection. Great place for perfectly prepared meat.

Went for Restaurant week, for the coolinary menu. The corn fritters were delicious and the gumbo dumplings were good. My lamb ragu was good, but very salty and greasy. I would recommend, though. My husbands spicy fried quail was just that, SPICY. Collard greens were good. We also ordered boudin balls, which I do not recommend. They were burnt and bitter, also not good boudin stuffing. Watermelon martini was delicious and refreshing. Service was great. Would recommend Toups, but would maybe suggest sticking to normal menu and passing on the boudin balls. Also, seating is CLOSE QUARTERS and uncomfortable seats.

So much good food to choose from, I wanted to try everything. I chose the foie grass and seafood stew and was not disappointed. My husband got boudin balls and pork. The boudin balls were as good as anything I've had and the pork was expensive but HUGE. We ate off it for 3 days. Still want to go back and try the meat board, which also sounded amazing.

Great food great service , highly recommend.
Brandon Chang
Really fantastic and unique meat dishes. Would highly recommend their pork chop which is superbly tender and enjoyable. I would also check out their venison as well. Staff is very friendly and approachable. Would definitely go again to try more dishes!
Brenna Johnson
My husband and I are here for dinner after having a heavy lunch we wanted something smaller to snack on. We ordered the meat board and the cheese board along with a bottle of wine and sipped and snacked on a lovely array of house cured meats. Would highly recommend!

LOVE this place. Do yourself a favor and order the charcuterie plate. Some people will turn up their nose to pork crackling but those people have not tried it at Toups.. the burgers are also insanely good, as is everything else I have tasted here. fantastic place.
Jason Thomas
Got the Toups burger for lunch. Amazing is an understatement. Will definitely be back for dinner one night this week.
Xavier Mitchell
One of the best meals I have ever had.

Toups Meatery is an outstanding experience, lunch or dinner! Toups' talented back-of-house, led by Chef-owner Isaac Toups, is driven and passionate about their well composed, locally-sourced Cajun fare. Specials change daily and have been known to sell out, especially on the weekends, so be sure to make reservations.
Their wait staff is well trained and knowledgeable about the food and drink pairings. General Manager, Larry Nguyen, does an excellent job keeping the wine and spirits fresh and changing often.
The atmosphere is rustic and unpretentious. I would make this a definite stop for locals and visitors alike.
Come hungry, with a bit curiosity, and you will leave happy!

Many places claim to be authentic Cajun. Toups is the real deal. They capture true Cajun classics with some delicious additions that will impress. Their drinks are delicious, too!

Literally melt-in-your-mouth venison, succulent duck, fall off the bone lamb and an epic charcuterie plate. Wait staff were attentive and friendly. Food delivery was a bit slow, but the drinks came out very fast. Non-carnivores need not apply.
Danielle Craft
My husband said it was the best steak ever. Everything was great and our waiter was so awesome.
Scott Basinger
Some of the best food I've eaten in ages. The Poutine was AWESOME. Get yourself some cracklins and boudin balls too!
Our service was great and they let us sit and dine even though we were close to the end of lunch service. This place is the one thing I wanted to see when visiting New Orleans and it didn't disappoint!
I will be back here next time I get to town!
Clayton Smith
Food is great, the prices aren't exorbitant, and the atmosphere is pleasing. Can't give 5 stars to any place in 2019 that refuses to split checks, though. Restaurants are the heart of the service industry, after all, and splitting the check is a basic service that Toups doesn't provide.
Vintage Frenchie Adventures
Amazing staff! Fun playlist playing! Great food...still new at brunch and some hits and miss but mostly hits! Boudin Benedict needed more sauce, oxtail poutine needed a gravy not a au jus, now for the amazing stuff!! Cracklings are like crack...sooo yummy! Meat board awesome...multitude of textures, flavors and balance...the liver pate was my favorite...could have eaten it with a spoon! Would definitely go back! A great brunch for my first Mardi Gras parade day! ❤️

Very cool place with local Cajun Cuisine !

Chef Isaac Toups three times James Beard awards. Need I say more? Awesome place and a great way to experience some amazing NOLA cuisine. Casual atmosphere but can get crowded so I recommend reservations.

When I tell you that the couvillion will blow your mind, I’m not kidding. It’s a little ways off from the downtown area but man it was worth every second of that drive. Jump on in those gulf shrimp before the season is done and prepare to have your mind blown.

Loved the charcuterie! Had the Raynes Farm Waugh and amazing! Also, tried the Confit Chicken Thighs & can’t go wrong there. We had a large crew & the staff was very accommodating! Thanks for making the experience awesome all around! Highly recommend!
Brent Mann
Service was outstanding. Very knowledgeable on food served at restaurant. Everything we ate there was amazing. ( boudin balls, pig crackling, lamb neck, chicken cochin, and wagyu beef steak. )
Would recommend to anyone. Make reservations
RHYTHM & SMOOTH
Perfectly pair and Perfectly balanced plates. We will be back for more....

Great food - came here with my two kids. Service was prompt and kid-friendly. Food was tasty and savoury - it is clear that much thought is put into constructing the dishes. Highly recommended!
Mark Peacock
Outside the typical tourist path. Excellent "Americana" cooking - had a big charcuterie board with pickled vegetables, a dish of braised chicken thighs that stunned me. Great service with a mellow/ understated vibe.

Any time a place calls itself a bar and meatery, I'm definitely trying it out. I've visited Toups' four times since moving to New Orleans: twice for lunch and twice in the evening. The dinner menu is exquisite and the bar is very well tended, but the real attraction is the Toups Burger, only available on the lunch menu. This perfectly spiced, delectable pork/beef burger is topped with gourmet cheese and vegetables pickled inhouse, changed out weekly. If you haven't tried it yet, go find out what you've been missing ASAP!
Kate Kosche
Loved the charcuterie. Tri-tip was awesome as was the duck. Cocktails were super too. Service was good but some mild attitude issues with wait staff, hence four stars. Still, I would be happy to return.
Ken Welch
Unique selections, Lamb neck was outstanding.
Natalie Ortega
My boyfriend and I came in because we are huge fans of the chef. The food was absolutely amazing. He really is just an AMAZING chef.
Stefanie Ziller
Wonderful meal.. We had some foie Gras, boudin balls for appetizer and shared venison and veggie plate. Venison was cooked just right and full of flavor. I think the veggies were a bit too salty is my only complaint.
Maggie Chow
Amazing charcuterie board! Everything was delicious but the rillion was our favourite. Great ambience. Would highly recommend to foodies. We would love to go again when we are visiting New Orleans in the future.
EW L
Oh man, this has become one of our favorites. Good drinks, good food, good atmosphere. Good people watching too. The menu changes and I always look forward to that. The service is always perfect and fun.
Mark Ross
Just finished having what might be one of the best meals of my life. The love of my life and I had a beautiful week in New Orleans and ended our visit with Toups Meatery.... this will now become a must do on every visit to the NOLA....
