Great, quaint little bookstore in an old house. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The store has a unique atmosphere that bibliophiles will appreciate, and a large selection of religious and philosophical works. In addition, the Eighth Day Institute puts on several events that draw an eclectic mix of people for learning, fellowship, and serious discussions.

It's my favorite little bookstore I think I've ever been to. It's never very busy, the people working are always very sweet, and the layout of the store itself is very cool. It must be a Catholic/Anglican-run place judging by the art and different book sections. They still have a plethora of secular books, though.

One of the coolest places to visit. Has a huge selection of books. Well organized, with different stock every time we have visited. A favorite feature is the "hobbit hole" basement children's book section. Great books, great feel, friendly staff. 10/10 recommend. As a parent of littles with not much time for reading, this place always re-sparks my love for reading.

Best book store in Wichita. Best bookstore I have ever been to, in fact! Be sure to check out the "Hobbit hole" for children's books and the "C.S. Lewis and friends." Perfect for Tolkien fans and Christian classics (especially the Church Fathers).

This store is so beautiful. The staff are awesome. The atmosphere is incredible, just the way a good new and used bookstore should feel. It's built into a house, and it's accentuated with nice chairs, seating areas, and a good selection of fiction, non-fiction, religious, and so much more material. Take your kids and family on your way to getting some ice cream or something! The feeling and vibe hit the spot. A fun place.

Friendly staff. Don't let location fool you. This bookstore, tucked into every nook and cranny of an old house, has character. Has something for everyone. Extremely strong on Christian history and theology. I was astounded at the Patristics section. Separate division for Eastern Orthodox works. The church history takes up a room of its own. History is smaller in general but quality of works more than compensates for that. Poetry and literature sections are expansive too. I wish I'd known about this store sooner. Definitely a hidden gem.

Great local book shop that I will support when I can. They have turned an old two story house into a really cool book shop. They have a ton of books and can order any book they don't have in stock. They have all category of books, but I noticed they have a very large religion section and a rather small fiction section.

Fantastic store. So many different things to check out. I spent more than an hour just gawking at everything in there. Not only is the book selection huge, but it is so diverse and incredible. Not to mention the numerous icons available--they are all beautiful. Couldn't help but leave the store with one. Great staff running the store as well; very helpful and kind. Every time we come to Wichita we go here. There is an impressive collection of philosophical and religious critiques and texts, a corner dedicated to Tolkien and the other Inklings, and plenty of seating to sit down with a book. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Just an awesome place!

Lovely bookstore! We could have so.e t all day there. Lots of books and crannies to sit in the sunshine and have a good read. It is an old house with 2 stories and an eclectic mix of mostly religious books. They have a men's and women's reading group that they host weekly.

Eight day books is tucked on a cozy spot on Douglas, and is a hidden treasure.I was pleasantly surprised at the wide selection there. It's also local, which is always good. I'd recommend checking them out.

First of all, this is not your typical Christian bookstore predominantly focusing on the latest Christian bestsellers and geared to casual readers. This bookstore focuses on a wide variety of what might be broadly called academic-level writings in fields such as theology, liturgical history, philosophy, and a host of others. It's 25,000+ volumes are drawn from major publishers all over the world. Most are in English, although a reasonable number of works in Latin, German, and so forth are also present. Not everything you'll find will be books, of course. But, even the so-called "gift items" differ from the typical figurines you see at other religious bookstores. High quality icons, many kinds of crosses and crucifixes, and oversize "coffee table" books abound. This is certainly the finest theological bookstore I have happened across in more than 30 years of work in higher education. One question that seems to always come up is why is it in Wichita, Kansas (rather than near one of the major seminaries or theological graduate programs in the country)? The answer, it would seem, is simply that Wichita is where the owners lived when they decided to create such a bookstore. A significant amount of their business is done through the internet, which also explains why location is not as essential as it might have been twenty or thirty years ago.
