Reviews of Forbidden Planet
Racheal Mckinney
The staff were awesome and super helpful!! I loved the selection of action figures and comics. I wish I could’ve bought more but I don’t have the space in my luggage to do that.
Łukasz Jastrzębski
Great place for geek's 😋. A lot of cool stuff like marvel, DC, anime and all other fans. Comics, action figures and more. Great staff ready to help you find whatever you're looking for. …
Stanley George
Such an awesome place! Manga and comics everywhere. Staff is amazing and always a pleasure to work with
armani clare
Love this store. So happy to see a novel collection as well! Will be coming back to shop for some figures and books
Sophie Leigh Fisher
This is a beautiful and special place in NYC. It is a treasure trove of a wide variety of comics, graphic novels and pop culture merchandise that caters to lovers of superheroes, manga, to niche art zines of all sorts!

Got some great deals and chatted a bit with the friendly staff. Huge selection of everything SciFi, horror and comics related. Well worth a visit.
Javier Marin
Good comic store. Famous name as there are other with the same name in London.
Masked Maniac Reviews
Good selection. Lots of toys and books. Nice manga selection. Something for all collectors.
Jess Wells
I haven't been to the physical store in New York but I have made multiple orders online with them and they have been great every time. Items are packed securely and their system for keeping you informed after purchase doesn't leave you worried about if or when you might receive your order. I have stopped using 3 other places for my comic needs as Forbidden Planet triumphs them all.
Chiara
great place for action figures/funko pops. helped me grow my collection.
William Chu
Awesome place to buy figurines, toys, board games, shirts, cards and comics. They have mostly new releases but not a lot of back issues. They also have a great selection of graphic novels. Showing love to Sandman and Watchman !
Andrew McKenna
Forbidden Planet is a fun little comics and collectibles store near Union Square. They have a fun variety of merchandise both new and old, with quite a lot of comics for a relatively small store. The staff were really friendly. Definitely worth visiting if you like anything comics, gaming, movies or whatever related.
Sh ock
Great comic book store. Has a decent collection of popular manga and a few high-quality figures. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. If they don't have something, you can always ask them to see if they can get it or expecting it.
Mike Fury
Shopping in this place for years. Store does a great job to make sure certain items can only be once per customer. Ordering online for pickups has been very convenient for me and I'm sure for all collector's.
Jack Jordan
Didn't buy anything to be honest was there with a coworker. But a great selection of comics, books, RPG resources, printed T-shirts, action figures and more. Had I the money when i went in, I wouldn't have when I left. It's worth the visit.
Charles Becker
Primo joint for comics and collectibles. They have a great collection of graphic novels running dc, marvel, image and other indies.
They keep weekly newsstand of new comics. You can sign up as a member and they’ll reserve issues you want too which is cool.
If you’re around the area always worth diving in.
kate dubitski
This is our go to geeky store, and when friends out of the city come to visit, we always take them there to rock their socks off!
You can find so many cool items here, action figures, comic and manga books, board games etc.
Thomas Frehner
Cool 😎 comic shop with lots of comic and movie related things. …
Arda Anıl
Comic book heaven. You can find pretty much anything here, and they have great sales for some books sometimes. Expect market prices, but you get to find almost any trade paaperback you could ask for.
Jarrod Wiard
Placed an order online from them and got my package in a timely fashion. Packaging was great and the Clementine issue was in crisp condition.
*Jarrod will remember this*
Fausto Duque
Comic-books, boardgames, and etc. I'm in love with this shop, incredible selection of comic and boardgames. I have spent some hours looking everything which I really loved and bought some stuff. The staff are amazing and very kind. The atmosphere the is exceptional, very cool and well decorated. Also, if you like figures, they have a lot of them. If you're planning to go to NYC, I definitely recommend this place.
brett bedevian
Amazing selection of comics manga and toys! Glad my office moved to around the corner will be grabbing all my comic books from here now!
Synn “Pirate” Trey
Great shop with a wide selection of books and comics. Their collection of anime figures and other cool comic figures are some of the best I've seen. Definitely come here with money to drop tho. Pretty pricey.
Robinson Acosta
Good spot for collecting comics or figures not so much in the TCG section but over cool place
Matt Starr
Great staff and atmosphere, loads of stock definitely worth a visit if your into your comics.
Xander Skye
am a kid again! This feeling everytime i get in the store. Time flies by and imagination runs beyond the realm of this world.
Such an awesome place to shop for toys, books, souvenirs, t shirts, key chains from popular movie, anime or magazine characters. Even game stuffs are here!
I was looking for Minecraft stuffs as a gift for me niece and i was a mazed to buy 2 Minecraft books! Woohooooo
I am extatic and sure enough my niece will be very happy!
Tad Bixby
This place is wonderful Mecca for serious comic book and collectibles fans. It takes a mega city like NYC to support this uniquely fabulous mega comic store! I just couldn’t get over the immense size and quality of their inventory.
Eduardo Penna
Amazing selection of comics and collectables, with a less extensive but still nice offer of games and nerdy apparel. The aisles are wide and the shelves neatly organized, making browsing a pleasure. And the staff is nice and helpful, without being annoying, pushy or opinionated (also, out of the five or six employees I saw working there, two were women, which is nice in a type of store traditionally dominated by awkward nerd employees that make female shoppers uncomfortable). Price-wise you're still better off shopping online, but Forbidden Planet is the kind of store where you gladly pay a little extra for the pleasant shopping experience.
Obsidian Linnux
I just ordered my first book from Forbidden Planet NYC three days ago. It got down the whole east coast by then. The book was literally in the best condition I’ve ever gotten a comic book in. It looks brand-spankin’-new and I got it for a good seventy-something bucks less than I could find the exact same edition from anywhere else. It got here a day early. No compromising, no damage, no exorbitant fee, no joke, man. I called the store up to thank them personally and the guy I talked to was super genuine and friendly. It was seriously the absolute best comic-buying experience you can get. They’re my new fix, I couldn’t recommend them enough. Thank you guys again, man, you’re a dream.
Lisa Williams
This was my first visit to this awesome store, I could've spent the whole day in there. They have an awesome selection of merchandise and old school items. I was so busy looking at the Annabelle doll they sell from movie I didn't get to go see the rest of the store. The staff are wonderful in the way they treat the customers, I just had such a pleasant experience shopping in that store. I am definitely going back to see what other goodies I overlooked the first time. Please go and check them out...you won't be sorry !
Donna Fong
Awesome comic book store plus so much more. Action figures, books, posters, t-shirts, rugs, games, so many genres!
Juan Aviles
Been here over 30 years as a kid and now took my kids. Unique finds and great collections.
Warren Chan
A perfect place to geek out a little in NYC. I’m a avid Funko Pop collector and I’ve consistently found something inside to add to my collection. If you’re a Funko collector be sure to take a peek at the area behind the register. That’s where they keep new and popular Funko Pops.
Aside from toy collectibles they’ve got comic books, graphic novels and nerd merch to your hearts giddy delight.
They used to be located in a much larger store space on the corner. So I’m glad they’re still around this area. Forbidden Planet is a fixture and nerd holy ground in NYC.
Michael O
Great place to buy rare and hard to find figures! I just wish this place was a little bigger to accommodate all of the fans coming through the doors. I would return if I am ever in the city again!
KATHY WILLIAMS
I have been a visitor and shopper at Forbidden Planet in their Previous and present location for over 30 years and always have a great time in the store. A wide range of collectibles will appeal to many. On my most recent visit I found just what I was looking for- the Super7 Power Rangers Pudgy Pig. So a successful trip! Even if you don’t walk away with a purchase you will enjoy looking around the store.
Michelle Espíndola
They have Really cool stuff from comics, clothing, manga, figures, books, etc
Jason Lee
Classic outlet for all things fun! Incredibly knowledgeable staff and so many comics and graphic novels. A real gem.
Tim Bates
A must stop for any geek. Found several Star Wars toys to add to my collection. Huge selection of comics, games, and everything else any geek would want. Love it!
Matt Cacciatore
Bought online: Fast shipping (delivered the next day) with great packaging. Comics came with bag and board in excellent condition. 5/5
Michael Scott
Wonderful place with great staff and selection of material! Great place to find something new or old and some great collectables around. Busy, but always plenty of room to browse
Mayra Lorenzo
So many cool items to choose from. If you're a big comic book, MCU, gaming fan then you'll love the collectibles.
Tara Ray (Chex33)
Absolutely loved this place. Anything and everything for your nerd/geek needs! Great comic book/ graphic novel selection!
Justin Latham
Great shop for comic books tshirts, games, etc. If you're into comics, you must come here. Staff is always knowledgeable. The space is actually a bit more roomy than the original space they had down the street. Gets crowded on weekends, but that's pretty common around union square.
Jeffrey Gouse
Fantastic experience! Ordered a NECA ED-209 from them last Friday (9/2). Entertainment Earth kept pushing back the release date on their pre-order, and Forbidden Planet listed it as "In Stock". Mind you, this was a late-day order on the Friday before Labor Day, and it arrived this afternoon.
Got a little concerned when the shipping carton was for a giant Funko Pop Vinyl, but it was just a reused box. ED-209 was inside and packaged with so much bubble wrap that it took a good minute to get the item out of the carton. KUDOS to whoever packed that item! There was ZERO chance of damage!
I would definitely order from them again--and likely will in the near future!!
Krow Zero
Their selection of shirts, trade paperbacks, figures, board games, etc, is enormous. It's hard not to spend money here. Staff is very helpful.
Harold BOSSE
Great shop. Smaller than the London one, but the music is so much better! Makes me want to stay longer!!
Jaeung Sim
It's a wonderful place for Marvel and DC fans. You can get high quality figures and miscellaneous goods, which you can't easily see.
Andrej Klepan
Forbidden Planet it's been around for a very long time I remember I used to go there to get my comics and collectibles they used to have three floors when they were in a different location they have a very big collection of Japanese animation horror and variety of things comic books very rare videos this place is great lots of fun I would definitely recommend coming to see it if you like comics and sci-fi stuff and lots of Funko Pops I definitely give it a five star
Chingmin Chang
The best pop culture place in NYC.
Price is reasonable. Collection massive!
Peter Lyons
Brilliant shop.
Lots of amazing items for sale.
Once again, absolutely brilliant.
Aimee Patnaude
Amazeballs!! Found couple of variant cover Batman's I've been looking for for forever, & card game section blew me away! Lots of Funko Pops I've never seen before, & God of War action figures I WILL be back to claim! Just a really cool shop 👌 & love the gay Terminator @ the door! 😂 …
Erik Flores
Great place to look at at comics. Staff is very helpful. All around cool place to go to.
Marcus R.
This place is amazing. From comics to FUNKO pops to collectibles. They even had a few vinyls towards the back of the store. There was a downstairs section, but it was closed off.
Joan S
I didn’t know this store was here. I found a couple of Funko Pops I’d been looking for. The selection is excellent. It’s Pop Culture toy heaven. I shall return in the future.
Mac Adelman
I stopped in here last night because this place was recommended in a book I read. I’m not a huge comic guy but I wanted to see what Forbidden Planet was all about, and I was definitely impressed. For such a large inventory that they have, the place was very well organized. There was a computer library where you could click on a section of the store and find out what is being stored there. This definitely makes it easier to find the things you’re looking for. Also, I thought it was really neat that they had recommendations for readers who like certain books. As I said before, I’m not a big comic guy, but I’m sure that if I was, Forbidden Planet would be my go to.
D
Amazing location that is the have done expert on all thing comic books.
Additionally they have so much toys, games, collectables.
Ana Cris
This is awesome. I love all their books and the stuffed animals. Great variety for card cases!
Pink Procrastinator
Pretty neat place. Employees were very nice and helpful. All in one kinda store comic, figurines, manga, and memorabilia. I got some manga volumes one of which I haven't been able to get elsewhere and I got a sticker to one of my favorite Mangas. They have lot of stickers. They have lots of different trading cards including buffy. I saw they were open til 12am(not all days) which was great cause I got into the city late for my birthday.
Dean Lorenzo Tartaglia (DeanLorenzo888)
Obviously, great for comics, action figures and sci-fi books
However, amazingly enough, what is considered sci-fi today, sometimes becomes actual science of tomorrow.
Take for example, cellphones of 1960's Star Trek, extremely powerful computer programs
of 2001:A Space Odyssey and drones/
hovercrafts of the original Star Wars trilogy.
And most especially, "The Force",
of Star Wars.
Well actually, the real "living Force", was discovered by the ancient Chinese, well over 5,000 years ago. Written about in those ancient classics of antiquity and just simply called the Tao.
(If you learn authentic/traditional chi kung (QiGong), you will actually meet it face to face, no need to believe or have any type of faith whatsoever, it's purely scientific, with evidence. Although requires, at least,
10 years of hard work, to build your foundation.)
Yes, we may be only geeks today, but the geeks will inherit the future.
Perhaps back to the Future of ancient China. Do Love💜💙💜
Absolutely Like 🤙👍👍👍👍👍🤙
Megan Wilcox
Perfect store for anyone who likes: D&D, anime, Disney, cartoons, manga, etc. They had a ton of variety of everything, and the staff all seemed friendly and welcoming. It would be fun just standing and perusing all of their shelves. Lots of action figures for sure, but also a good book selection area. I'm always a little disappointed that no one carries Studio Ghibli merch, it seems like a missed opportunity, but I really enjoyed seeing anime merch here none the less.
Corie Rose Marketing
Every action figure from ever pop culture show, movie ,videogame ..is here, however little costly.and they focus more on 6 inch figurines than 12 inch.
Patricio Zenklussen
Great place. Went there a couple times last week. love horror and cult films and I found an expansive, awesome collection of new and used Blu-ray and DVDs there in very good condition.
Only taking one star off because the staff wasn't "very enthusiastic" when asked to go get one of the custom t-shirts.
amanda
Lots of books, and no wall of funko pops. That’s what I’m looking for in a comic book store.
Joseph de Leon
Great store and NYC classic without a doubt. Great selection of toys and books from every corner of pop culture. Books are priced MSRP but toys and collectibles are normally higher than online which is usually the case with mom and pop brick and mortars
Chris M
Such cool superhero stuff and funkos. Love this place
Joe Regan
For my money, best comic book store in NYC! Good selection. New releases are organized. Great for action figure fans as it always seems they have something interesting. Also a great cult-movie blu-ray selection.
Maria F. Saldeño
This place has great merchandise! Comics, accessories, toys, shirts, magazines...well you get gist. A whole lot of goodies, just not a lot of space. Overall, it's a spot to definitely go to.
destiny13777
I've been a customer here for years and they have a lot to offer! Toys, cards, comics and so much more! This is also one of the few places in NY that imports a lot of higher end Japanese toys and they even showcase figures that aren't even out yet!
Sofia Rivera
Went to get autographed copies of #laborinqueña and #ricanstruction. This is a well equipped comic book store with so many items to choose from. It's also in a great neighborhood offering a little bit of everything, shopping, dining, relaxing at the park or playing chess.
Joseph
Amazing store with a vast collection, but the customer service is even more awesome. A great place to check out. Highly recommended!
James Gunner
I Love this place I've been All over the country and this may be my favorite collectible store just visiting from Houston tx.
Sam Aleksandrov
One of the greatest comic book stores in New York! Big diversity of comic books, manga, board games and other collectibles. Wallet friendly prices and very competent and knowledgeable staff!
River Penzo
This is one of the best places in New York and one of the most amazing comic book stores in the world. The staff are so nice and always know what to recommend. The atmosphere is always fun and positive, When you leave, you are left better off and with something gained.
A
It's changed a lot over the years,so much they charge you 5 cents for a paper bag to carry the books you purchased in. Like I can just go to other shops and not be charged for a bag, but I was in the area. The staff is helpful and polite and I was able to find what I was looking for.
Martin Berg
Huge shop with lots of books, magasines and figurines. Worth a visit.
Jasprah Bluefeather
I have gotten some of the coolest science fiction and horror novels from there first time I was there was in the eighties it was awesome back then too.🖤✨ …
Benjamin Seegers
Nerds heaven! Found a lot of cool stuff there, from movies, comics, TV shows, etc. Also fair prices and very friendly and helpful service.
Yana Dektariov
Amazing book shop for comic geeks!
I fell in love whit this store.
kborton99
Just order a paperback from this place last week. Not only was shipping fast and efficient but the packaging of the book itself was amazing!! I cannot recommend this place enough for collectors!!
Hannah Madaus
Bring your nerdy friend here and anyone who loves obscure horror fantasy DVDs.
Alan Hom
We're still dealing with the pandemic, but the situation is better here in NYC than most other cities. So Forbidden Planet is open and all the staff and visitors were wearing masks like good heroes. I bought some new issues and a back issue that completed a mini-series in my collection...now I can finish reading the story! They gave free bag and board with each comic I purchased. Cool! They have tpbs, Funkos, action figures, t-shirts...this is not the same old FP I grew up with in the 80s...back issues are limited...maybe the equivalent of 10 shortboxes? But interestingly, I found some new releases that were sold out in Midtown Comics...not sure if that means anything. But still, it's a great place to shop, get gifts...and unlike Midtown Comics, it's on the ground floor. No stairs nor elevators to take. And it's next door to the Strand, another bookstore! Yay!
Daniel Adolfsen
A really cool place in New York. I would recommend ALL cult movie fans and collectors to stop by. I found some hard to come by movies here on dvd, and the prices were fair.
They have a good selection of comics as well and a really helpful, knowledgeable staff.
Lastly I would like to give a shout out to the cashier, he seemed like a genuine film fan and we had a quick nice chat about Cronenberg and Severin Films. No where else in my stay in New York did I experience such an interest in customers as I did here.
Love the place and will most definitely come back next time I visit New York.
Zaira Zafra
Helpful staff, plenty of amazing comics and fun toys to look at and buy
Natalie Butcher
If you like comics or gaming or anyth sci-fi, you'll love it. They have tons of mainstream and unique merchandise and all kinds of cool stuff to satisfy your geek side. Staff was awesome as well :) at least walk past the entrance and check out the Terminator skeleton in the window :) (Florida tourist)
LOU MARTIN
They have everything Marvel and DC!
Love the Store and the staff is very nice and Friendly!
Bryan Rosser
Haven't been there only shopped online but always fast shipping. Have called with questions on availability a couple of times and they've been amazing and nothing but focused on keeping the customer happy. By far a customer for life
Carlos Eduardo Cáceres Miraval
Very good place in Manhattan, but they have no actions figures from Die Hard (John McClane).
Giorgio Suraci
Huge store. It was very busy when I visited on a Saturday, so - quite reasonably - all the sales assitants and the manager were pretty occupied. Prices seem to be a bit on the high end compared to the other comic book stores I've visited in NYC...
Thundercat 129
One of my favorite stores that just leaves me so nostalgic of my childhood comic book characters and sci-fi memorabilia. There is a little bit of everything for everyone from toys, figurines, Manga, comics, puzzles, anything! I always walk out with something. They even had this bad ass replica of one of my favorite Marvel villains, Thanos the Mad Titan! Go here if u are looking for comic book and Manga stuff and if u r looking to geek out!
Cristina Antonelli
If you're looking for patches, stickers, pins, manga, anime, books, board games or comics, then this is your place! Lovely store with a very broad variety from merchandise to manga collections. When I went they didn't have some of the manga I was looking for but they offered ordering it for me, so if they don't have it; at least they'll try to get it for you (unfortunately I was only visiting NY). Totally recommended.
Paul-Adam Fehr
Good selection of comics, mangas and toys. Also a good place to start your comic craze 😍 …
Jill Nacnodovitz
I love this place. Everytime I'm at the Strand I make sure to stop in here as well. They have a wide range of merchandise and comics and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about what they do. Also their enamel pin game is strong.
Frank
The best place for your comic needs...
The best place for your action figure needs...
And simply the best place overall, makes you feel like a kid when you come here. I hope they never leave. Keep up the good work!
Martiña González
Forbidden Planet is a must go if you’re in NY and you’re an action figures- comis books fan. I usually score all my cool shirts from there. Its in a great location too!
Trent & Rachel Corbett
Great store. Awesome range of comics and collectibles.
Frank Chatterton
Really great comic shop extra large selection of graphic novels, t-shirts, and figures. Highly recommended. Well organized and compact with a nice feel.

This is an unusual store with a mix of comics, star wars memorabilia, figurines, cards games and more.
Butterz BMB
First time at this place and have to say I love it!!!! The staff is nice to their customers and very helpful!!! I personally enjoyed the TCG section of the store, it has a good variety from MTG, Yugioh, Pokémon, eta. I do recommend!!!
Nuri
They are usually fully stocked with the comics if they are sold out elsewhere.
Johnny Cash
Great place to grab the uncommon items. Went here to get some demon slayer things, staff was very helpful.

Frederic VALLUET
You're passionate about manga, comics, Pokemon, TV shows, SciFi, Pops, game cards, figurines...? Stop by Forbidden Planet and you'll find whatever you're looking for. This shop is amazing, the staff can teach you on any topic as they're deep in the culture, and the variety of items is incredible. Even if you don't need anything, the tour worths it.
Andy White
Love this place, I could spend all day browsing round! A great selection of stuff and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Gabriel Adam Cordero
Great store! Great destination for #NYCC enthusiasts. Fun place to visit with friends from out of town.
Merlin Parache
I enjoy my occasional visits to Forbidden Planet. They always have a great selection of Funko pops and various other collectibles and goodies. My only complaints would be staff watching customers as they look around. I'd rather have cameras at me then have an uncomfortable visit. And I don't get the vibe that makes me welcomed to the store. I think we need that atmosphere especially because this is the type of shop for nerds to get away from the crazy world, even for just a few minutes. The cashiers are usually talking up a storm and never paying mind to me. I like this store because it's an essential destination for collectors like me but there are some improvements to be made. Oh and the Funko pops and other collectibles in the glass cases are usually way overpriced so I feel no need to try buy something I might want.
Danny Yagud
Great store ! They didn't have the specific Comics that I was looking for, but had one heck of a collection there. There are tons of anime and new comic issues to choose from as well as collector books.
Being a horror fan, they have some really good HORROR DVDs that you can't quite find anywhere else. If you get a chance, go and check them out.
Shannon Ernst
Just the entrance alone made me really happy already! They're so easy to find and they have a lot of comics
kachoo45
My favorite place for anime, funko and trasformers.
Andrew L. Case
Love coming here. One of the few decent comic book establishments left. Friendly staff and an array of comics to choose from. Highly recommend. Bring your mask
Joyce Liang
One of my favorite places to visit. Great for comic and anime nerds. It has more comic related items if you're curious. I always come here to purchase gifts for my friends.
Carlos B.
Super variety. Every adult and child should visit. One of New York's hidden gems.
Brian Deyne
Awesome place for any nerd or geek both old and new
Michael Maya
I am always looking for my favorite macross figures and planes from all the series. Unfortunately they didn't have the ones I wanted nor did they have significant others I was interested in also. I wonder if Covid is playing a part in distribution or even trading process in the market.
Oren Caspi
Nice comic store with a lot of geeky stuff. Really enjoyed it
Tom Imperati
Toys, D&D, comics, graphic novels - I've gone to heaven!
Derek Villorente
I love this place. Great customer service. Large selection of comics, action figures and other Sci-fi merchandise. Got a House of the Dragon funko pop there.
Esthela Hernandez
Employees where welcoming and friendly. We found some amazing collectives. Definitely we will be back
Izumi Inoue
Very cool place, tons of interesting geeky/pop culture finds. Got myself a couple of Rick and Morty merchs when I was there.
Leticia Seaton
This place is amazing. Me and my kids loved it. If you're an anime geek, tshirt fanatic, or any other kind of fandom this is the place to go. I found my favorite tea mug here.
Kassidy Stewart
Fantastic place! I was able to purchase some Predator merch and it made my day! I’ll definitely be a return customer!
Mac Aguilar
The best ...collectibles store, this place is just to comic, manga and exotic toys collectors...and more.

Very recommend !!
Hentai Lord
It's a good place if you just starting to know the culture of comics & mangas and a little bit of collections hopefully they can expand to a full grown anime & comic store.
Crafti Comics
Awesome shop to order from. We love buying comic books sometimes just for the beautiful artwork : )
Genaro L Marrero
The store is Supreme Awesomeness every time I go. I hope sooner than later… Forbidden Planet can do a: First Ever In-person Signing (Autograph & Photo Opportunity) Events??? Like bringing Pro Wrestlers, Music Artists and other celebrities to the store. In addition, having them enjoy an awesome experience overall including with the amazing fans we have here in NYC👍🏼👍🏼
Dre Vin Fouric
There is only one comic book ( many amazing stories all within the... THE FORBIDDEN PLANET ) shop with many other cool and collectible things to buy. I called for a book they had one left - I was driving in the road had to park in fire hydrant no parking spot :( and run in to get the book Guess what they had what I wanted ready to go

Marina Barker
Amazing little gems and fantastic clothes, but not for the lighthearted or prude... 😉 …
OnlineHusk
My go to comic store in NY! With a great selection of both American comics and Japanese manga the only reasons this isn’t 5 stars is everything is a bit pricey and the staff while mostly nice have a couple of jerks in between…
XYD .S
Cute store have few interesting things
Sergi Perez
Good collection of new weekly books and stored trade paperbacks.
William S
One of the best in town. So happy to find it. Tons of mangas

I have been going to this comic book store since I was a little kid, and they were right on the corner. The anime section used to be upstairs. This store was a big part of my childhood. Always nice staff, cool statues, action figures, graphic novels and posters. Meet and greets with some cool artists and always on top of what's new in the comic industry. Since I have moved away 8 years ago, I always make sure I come back when I visit each time. You will not want to miss this if you are a collector, love comics, and love statues.
Luke Claudius
Forbidden Planet is amazing. It's the best comic experience in the city.
Antonio Ladron de Guevara
If you're a fan of punk music and collectibles, then just the moment you walk in will make you fall in love with the place and that's before you even find out just how much they have to offer and are always updating their shelves with the latest comic book related reading material and collectibles.
aqueelah white
This has been my favorite place since my brother introduced me more than 20 years ago. I love it! They have what I want majority of the time and if not they are more than happy to order it for you! Drew is a great help and they have a great selection of Pop figurines
John Ozed
I hadn't been there since the 90s. Still a fun visit with surly doorkeepers...!
Alexander Geppart
Nice shop. Could offer more possibilities to sit
Amanda Hull
Just ordered a few books for my daughter, one of which I couldn't find anywhere else! Not only was the shipping INCREDIBLY fast, the books were packaged with so much care! I will definitely be back! Thanks so much Forbidden Planet!!!
William Perez
Always a cool place to visit. They always have something I end up purchasing. Staff is helpful and friendly.
RobertJR Rodriguez
It’s a nice cool spot with a good selection of comics and manga to choose from. I think they’re best part may be the collectibles they have. Whenever the store is busy it takes very long to get help though, and they’re busy very often.
Falia
Wow. The selection is very large. They have a great amount of t-shirt and a huge amount of Funko! Pop Figures. The staff is very nice and helpful. They also have many different games just like Dungeons and Dragons. The prices are good. It's definitely a great place for geeks and nerds and other lovers of such things.
Barnaby Bienkowski
HUGE comic book shop. Very friendly staff who let me browse for hours before choosing the ones I wanted.
nicolany
Best comic book store in the USA. If you're a science fiction freak like me and my wife this is tha place to go. love it.
Emil Potersnak
Something for everyone. Very cool shop, friendly staff. Tons of items. Love this place
Rebecca Velic
A collector's paradise! So many awesome licensed products and a great selection of comic books and graphic novels. Staff are also very friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Amanda LaPergola
Great place for comic books, manga, collectibles, and those ubiquitous Funko Pop figurines. It is a wonderful place to browse for old favorite comics and discover new stories (I just picked up a few issues of the new version of "Excalibur" not long ago). And if you have a fondness for obscure grindhouse horror, they have an amazing collection of films for sale. It's nerd paradise!
Mario Gonzalez
They need to update there return/exchange policy. My receipt says I'm able to return/exchange within 10 business day's but when I accidentally bought a variant cover comic, same comic with different covers, they refuse to honor my receipt. Brand new. Very disappointed. Besides that, great place and great location.
Robert Americo
Great store for those into figures, merch, art books, and trades; they also have a decent wall of new/recent single issues.
Tomas Aviles
This is the best comic book store in town. With the number of comic book stores going down to the single digits here in New York it is comforting to see this store is still open and strong. I miss their conner location but they has to give that up inorder to grow.
Elvis Jimenez
Cool place to shop for gifts nice graphic t shirts and novels
DJ ACEOFSPADES
I used to shop here in the late 80's and early 90's when I collected comic books. I like that they're still around and they have tons of collectables. My only issue is that not everything has prices on them and I have to constantly find someone to ask how much a particular item costs. Other than that, I love the place.
ashley s
its cool if you're into comics, but i wish that their manga section had a larger variety.
Ray Anthony
I've been visiting Forbidden Planet for over 20 years now and always keep coming back for anything. Funko Pop, Super7, Necca, Kid-robot, and other toy collectables brands. Marvel and DC, Star Wars and Star Trek, Godzilla and King Kong, and/or any other movie, TV, comic book, video game, or pop icon characters available. Novel and comic books, trading cards and games, action figures and limited figurines, and also graphic t-shirts, patches, pins, keychains, and other little knick-knacks are available for sale. Can't miss this place, right on Broadway between 12th and 13th streets with R2-D2 in the stores display window.
L Wolfe
Came here for the Lloyd Kaufman signing had a great time! Lots of graphic novels funko pop and action figures
Jiahong Wang
They organized the book by alphabetical order
Sad Sin
Honestly this place is amazing!! It had Marvel comics,Wandavision, Loki, and many more they have Jojo manga and Death note manga! I was specifically looking for Saiki K manga but I’m not sure if they had it. They have so many good tshirts as well. Im definitely coming here for my birthday and spend A whole bunch of money!!
Plansito Diaz
Great Comic book selection as well as toys. Customer service could improve by being a bit more engaging but other than that this place is a gem especially for this area.
Caleb Crum
Great prices on action figures man
Michael Mackie
Hugh shops with to eat of stuff to look at. As a TTRPG player I would have liked to see more of that stuff. However, the amount comics, board games and merch are all amazing and well priced.
Junan Suny
Really nice place, tidy and aesthetically pleasing. It is a little small for the amount of things they have, but granted it's in Manhattan, that makes sense. In addition, the staff are very down to earth people, they'll treat you as a human, which is quite hard to find nowadays in stores. They have a great selection of products, nearly everything you can think of when in a comic book store.
Albert Major
Not ny old planet but the staff was very helpful.
Arto Martin
Great place, for comic books, action figures, tabletop games, D&D and other RPGs, also has a huge selection of collectibles. Also great place to meet like-minded people who share similar interests.
Ross Smith
Amazing selection of toys and collectables - the good stuff, like 12" resin Godzilla's!
Yezmir Sheppard-Halika
Good selection. Professional staff.
Thomas Smith
This place is amazing. One of my favorite places to go explore my comic geek side. From anime to comic books this place has it all. The models and ornate and make me remember what it was like to be a child looking through the glass. I highly recommend. Customer Service A+.
ANTHONY AUSTIN
Awesome for Comic book Collectors or Occasional readers, they have a lot of Merch.patches,Enameled pins, tees, ect. If you're into Comics you have to visit at least once.
Robert DiNapoli
A bit disappointing. I haven't been here in about 20 years. Its moved to a much smaller location than the last time I was here. I had budgeted $100 just to buy some comic type books and magazines. The selection was "good", but it was a bit cramped even with about 20 people in the store and I wound up leaving without buying anything.
Hector Rosario
I've been going to this comic book store for years great place to go and escape. You will be enthralled by all this place has to offer. I was kinda bummed about them not having multiple floors anymore. It's usually where they held their competitive card game tournaments. The place still has magic left for anyone that loves a good comic book and is an avid collector of figurines. There are many other things to enjoy in the store as well but me telling you about it won't do it justice. Go ahead and pay a visit to this awesome place you wont regret it. The staff is also amazing; very knowledgeable on comics and all things forbidden planet.
Barre Flynn
If you like comments it is really an amazing collection of comic oriented memorabilia. Expensive but well worth it.
Luigi Leonardo
One of the best comic book stores in the whole city. The staff are really passionate about the culture. If you need any help, they can always set you up with recommendations, whether it's comic books or tabletop games. The vibe is just amazing. I've bumped into famous people here occasionally too!
Sam Bermolone
Not much to say about this place beyond the fact that if you love comics, you will love this place.
Richard Cruz Rodriguez
Excellent store for the sci fi,horror, comic books and action figures
ENJA 7
Very nice comic book store! A high variety of different series and comics and anything that is fiction. Even if you are looking for figures or toys they got them and quite the variety of different characters in stock! Nice employees willing to help you find or recommend a new read for yourself!
Justin Dean
One of my favorite places to go to weather i am looking for comics, graphic tees or to collect some more awesome action figures. Forbidden Planet is definitely the best place in NYC to visit if you haven't gone yet. The workers are awesome, they assist your every need and the vibes are very chill
Liam Wright
I've been going to forbidden planet for 40 years. And I still love it and take my kid now. Unfortunately the selection has waned a bit. It used to be like a museum, now it's filled with pop-art bobbleheads and low quality toys. Where's the $450 Gundam? And the $650 Terminator models? No Godzilla? No tacky 1964 classics? They should open downstairs up and make it ratty like it used to be in the old place on the corner. I still love FB though...
Steven Coleman
The Third Eye Comics of New York. You will find collector cult favorites of memorabilia portraying towards movies, comics, board games, etc. For film you will find interesting limited releases of cult horror movies and others from renowned labels Kino Lorber, Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome, etc.
The customers and the staff were very friendly inviting atmospheres and willing to help out, overall a great experience!
This place will drain your wallet in the best way. Next time I head downstate I plan to visit again and bringing my film buddies!
Cathy Korecki
I live in MD and I ordered a large quantity of comics on Thursday afternoon, within minutes I got an email that they processed my order and it was in the mail, I thought that meant that a label had been created but it would still take a bit. The package was on my doorstep by the following afternoon, and they packaged it with lots of care and even gave us some free comic book day comics! 100% I will do further business with them when I'm in the market for online purchases, if I'm ever in NY I will have to go out of my way to drop in!
Leon Perrot
Just a great place. All kinds of gifts, figurines, Magick the Gathering cards and of course hundreds of comics! I love to go and look at all the little treasures they have. You’ll always find funny and original presents in this store.
Saima Tariq
Amazing bookstore for all your Comic book and geekdom appetite
Karl Channell
I always love this spot for fresh inspiration in art, design, games, anime and comics. Staff are super knowledgeable.
John
Great selection of action figures and t-shirts. With the prices, it is what it is. Rent in Manhattan isn't cheap but the availability of products is among the best anywhere in NYC.
Toshi Tsui
Amazing store for collectors and geeks alike. A lot of cool figures, toys, cards, books, and games for everyone. Employees are kind and friendly and help you find what you need. If you love video games, movies, and geek culture then this is a must visit for NYC! 🎉 …
Lucius Gibbons
I love this place, it's been around for year's and it's a must go to if you love comics /books /figurines and etc they have it all.
Edana
Great place to go for graphic novels and comics. Helpful staff. Plenty of D&D gear, and some figurines. I wish they would get a large Japanese import collection, more specifically Studio Ghibli.
Lindsay Rutherford
My husband and I collect and trade comic books, and upon our visit to NYC we were told Oh... Go visit Midtown comics.... Honestly, this is a better store as long as you are not going specifically to hunt for back issues.
Batman Lin
One of the best comic book stores left on NYC. As there seems to be a decline in stores, this one still holds the mantle as a mecca of good reading.
The have an excellent assortment of collectables and a vast array of books and movies.
The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and willing to help you find what you need.
As a long time shopper here, I recommend this store for all your comic and collectable needs.
Mayhem Matt
amazing selection. the type of place you will always make additional trips there to see whats new.
Allie Smikun
Every time I'm in Manhattan I run to this place. Not only do they carry almost everything under the sun, but the staff is really cool and friendly. Always ready to help. Thanks for making Forbidden Planet one of the best comic book shops in New York!!!!
Janet L
We were happy to find a comic store in Ny when we visited. This was recommended to us by a family member when we were at dinner.
The place was decent. A very good selection of comics and other merchandise. Prices were average for this type of store.
Giving 3 stars because the staff was just.....just.....there. We needed help with a case and the guy acted like he had much better things to do then sell us the $18 item we wanted to buy.
The cashier barely spoke.
We did like the fabric bag we were given because it was kind of a souvenir itself.
Would we go back on our next trip to NY? Nah. Nothing that special here and the rude staff just topped that off.
Willissa Turner
Had a lot of great things for both comic and anime lovers. Unfortunately they didn't have the Manga I was looking for.
AnthonysDen
It's an amazing store in Manhattan: from comics and graphic novels to Blu-ray/DVDs & awesome toys, this place has everything even the most serious comics collectors could ever hope to find. Marvel, DC, independent titles, movie/TV characters...you name it, chances are they have it! 😎✌️ …
Edin
I could get lost in this store just browsing all the comics and collectibles, in fact, I think I'll do just that next weekend. So many rarities on these shelves.
Ravi Ramnath
Great location in city, fair prices, quality comics.
Sven
An incredibly wide selection of comic books with very helpful staff ready to help you find whatever you want. The store is also full of fantastic board games. You 'll find something to buy even if you weren't planning on it.
Adam Van Grover
Fun comic book store with statues on display, and a cool, curated selection of what's popular now in the world of action figures, comics, and assorted trinkets. Smaller space is a bit cramped and unruly, but a fun browse - no one will bother you if you want to flip through an art book (which is a must have in my opinion for a good comic book store). Finding someone to help may be a bit difficult (tend to stay behind the register, and/or stocking) - but when you do - service staff is friendly, and knowledgeable.
Ronald Olaizola
This store is super fun to browse. The selections are endless and the staff is friendly. I bought a Wonder Woman comic book for my wife and the experience was easy. Ultimately, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to buy comic books and comic book related items.
Stephanie C
I've been going to that place for years! Its a great place to buy your favorite comic books or manga! Friendly workers too! I even have a great conversation with the girl behind the cashier about some of my favorite comics! I would totally recommend stopping by there!
Wilfredo Figueroa
Forbidden planet always treated me well like A1 customer. The management and staff very polite very helpful all the time. It's my pleasure and blessings to shop there, love all those guys. Blessings 💖🙏💯🇺🇸😉👍 …
Caleb Rivera
This place is always fun to go to! Their collection of toys is huge and their graphic novels and comic selection is big too. Overall the aesthetic is awesome and it's a shop I like to check out when I can.
Allyson Smith
Great selection. Wonderful kind, knowledgeable staff. They even pulled a chair out so I could sit while my son browsed. I watched while staff members enthused over a little girls budding interest in a comic book series, helping her while never being condescending. This is a great storr.
Raphael Sosa
This comic book store by far is one of the best comic book stores I’ve been too. The atmosphere is of an atheistic comic book store. The employees themselves always with a smile on their face willing to help everyone that steps foot inside. Last time I visited i was looking for a particular item that just happen to be sold out. At the time i really waited this item and couldn’t wait for it to be shipped. With the help of an employee I was recommended a store nearby that for sure had the item. I asked the employee “Why would you recommend a costumer to go to different store”, they told me “my job is to help you find what you need to make the costumer happy”. To this day i still think about that and will always recommend this store to all my friends that travel to New York City.
Victor Durango
Forbidden Planet is one of the last bastions of geekdom in NYC. It's no wonder that I've been going to some iteration (they've moved of few times) for the past 20+ years. From plastic models, to role playing games and toys, they are more than just a comic book store. Super friendly staff that will help you out to the best of their abilities. Definitely worth a visit.
Garreth Blackwell
You'll be amazed at how much nerd-paradise can fit in what seems like a small spot from the street. Games, graphic novels, memorabilia, collectibles, everything! The selection is unmatched in NYC from what I have seen and the layout makes it easy to find and peruse what they have. It's a seriously great spot that should be on the "must-stop" list of anyone who enjoys pop culture.
Tammy Brookins
My baby wanted to go here and it had all the weird stuff she loves.
Osama Elokby
It is a nice place which shows children toys and books too i think it is good with my little know of us
vgamer11
Although it is a bit small and can get immensely crowded, it's for a good reason: this store has a huge selection of comic books, toys, and pop culture items that are hard to find elsewhere. I myself ended up finding several action figures that weren't even out in any of the other stores I looked in! This amount of exclusive items has a downside, though- they are always in small amounts, can occasionally be a bit expensive, and sell out VERY quickly.
N C
This store is awesome even though it smells terrible (like everything in New York) and is musty and dark. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable (except the man at the counter...he didn’t know anything about anything...). They have so many cool things. Plushes, pins, patches, figures, and of course comics. Basically everything you can think of comic or anime related can be found here. Definitely worth checking out.
Bailey Logan
I usually visit there to buy magazines and the occasional book. If you’re new to NYC, it’s definitely a nice place to visit and see if you’re ever near Union Square; the staff is usually very friendly with excellent customer service. And they have the most interesting figurines, books, mugs, T-shirt’s...truly a nerd haven.
Klee LeHorgen
It's a great comic and nerd merch store! It can be a bit pricey compared to some retailers, but the place has excellent presentation, clean cases and is fully staffed with on-floor and register support.
Will Sanders
Really cool comic store with everything sorted and organized as one would expect. Really cool vibe.
Arthur Rufus
Forbidden Planet is a strange name for a must-visit store if you're into comics. The store does not have a large footprint, but it is like the Walmart of comic book stores. There is something for everyone in there. I don't collect anymore, but I think new releases come out on Wednesdays(?) and they generally have a good supply. A great place to spend a Saturday afternoon browsing the shelves.
Nerd Grrrl Island
Forbidden Planet is my favorite comic book shop. I get immediately happy once I grab the door handles made out of Captain America's shield. The enormous assortment of Doctor Who, Star Wars, and Wonder Woman goodies inside always make me feel like a giddy child. Those things all excite me, but it's the people working there that make FP a place I can't recommend enough. They are helpful and don't talk down to you, and as a girl entering a comic book shop, that is huge to me. The staff happily offers recommendations to get you started on a new series or to show you some new indie comics you may not otherwise have heard of. They are also more than willing to pull issues for you if you call or tweet them and can't hit the shop until later that night, and they're awesome at keeping you up-to-date on items/toys you are looking to purchase. Follow them on Twitter for contests & guest appearance information!
Other things: it is a brightly lit store, always has new items, figures, toys, etc. Huge selection of comics, trades, and graphic novels. Lots of signed comics on-hand and in-store signings & events. Great music. Perfect location (okay, for me...). I can't imagine you going & being disappointed. So, go!!
James D
Always enjoy going to Forbidden Planet. Get my fix of different Manga and Graphic Novels. Staff are always very helpful and nice.
Rachel Antonio
I’m not as much of a fan for Forbidden Planet ever since they moved. The store is much smaller now! The Forbidden Planet I knew before was much bigger and filled with all sorts of cool comics and figurines/memorabilia. This store is brighter, a bit more modern. The same people shop there which is good. They have a loyal customer base. I remember Forbidden Planet from 25 years ago. It has such a good reputation.
James Avatar
COMIC ENTHUSIASTS ASSEMBLE! Best place to buy comics, graphic novels & branded merch. Largest selection of #grindhouse movies on blu-ray and DVD in the area. Please visit and support this local NYC business. (Mask required )
Bradley Farless
I've been going to Forbidden Planet for comics, graphic novels, and manga for about 30 years. My grandmother and mother used to take me there when I was a kid and as an adult I kept going back. I've seen this place in more than a few locations. They keep moving, but I'm glad they're still around and still in basically the same area. It's nice that they're next to Strand because it lets me hit both locations in the same shopping trip. To be honest, I get a lot of my comics digitally now, but I still shop there for memorabilia and a few comics or collected editions that are just too good to only have as a digital version.
Sleepy
This was a really cool place. It was sort of crowded like shelves and stuff close together but there was so much cool stuff its not really a complaint. The people who helped us were super nice, and it was one of the highlights of my trip. I wish there was a place like this in Nashville.
Juan Pablo Baene
I love to bring my eight year old daughter to this comic store.
I love the tshirts in the wall and the little merchandise. The people working there are fun and unique. Good New York spot!
Nomi L
Great for all kinds of geeks. The store is full of books, figurines, gifts, and almost any kind of collectible you can imagine. Prices vary from item to item (obviously). I would recommend setting aside a good amount of time because there are A LOT of things to comb through.
whiteyheads
Amazing selection of comics, manga, and all around pop culture items. Terribly limited supply in merch though and only half the staff seemed interested in actually assisting you. Was told they were out of multiple pins while the ones that were desired just sat in a display case. Possibly just caught everything on a bad day.
Codie Wright
Pretty decent collection. With about half the store dedicated to graphic comics and the like. Didn't find much for myself but definitely enough variety.
Erika Freeman
Awesome selection... from every genre! I am never disappointed with their stock of collectibles (I buy mostly batman, superman, JL, and X-men). From classic comics to new movies they have it all!
Bonnie Ellman
I love this place! I remember when it was in a different location down the street. They have added a bunch more cool stuff and merchandise. The store was also kept pretty big, so I'm happy about that and they do have a good amount of books on sale. A great place for the comic book and movie lover to browse.
Darius Fox
Staff is friendly and helpful. Orginization on the new releases could be made easier to understand but not a big issue. They also have a variety of board/card games and nerd gear as well as monthly events and signings for different comics.
Girls With Issues
More that just a comic store this place is the perfect blend of all things nerdy and geeky! They have a great library of books, weeklies and trades all for your reading pleasure. It's a kick to check out all the action figures and random nerdy finds. My favorite, the buttons posted by the door. They seem to change every time we go in.
Justin Burgess
Great selection of geek memorabilia and comics.
Jay Stone
This place is definitely my go-to
From comic books to collectibles to hot toys to anything they have in here one of the best collectibles toy stores in the city the guys behind the counter look a little grumpy but they're all cool the staff is amazing and the place is awesome love going there
Justin Space
Pretty cool place for comic book fans and fans of realistic looking toys.
Olvin Garcia
Great place to shop for statues and action figures, comic books etc.
Andreas Kessen (eisbaerdaddy)
Nice mixture of comics games and collectibles.
Elaine Vasquez
Entering the store is a dangerous place for comic, manga, pops, and board game fans. You'll always want to buy something. There's so much to see in the store and the people there are very helpful and know their stuff.
Federico Lusa
The best comic store in NYC so far!
Em
I only had a small amount of energy at the end of a long day, to walk around this magnificent store for about 15 minutes. Let me tell you.. I could have spent hours in there! Memorabilia, books, comics, odds and ends, old school Blu Ray dvds and the list goes on. Add a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and you've got yourself a great store; would recommend for everyone to go and have a look.
Morbo Rodriguez III (Morbo Rodriguez)
HAVE AT THEE!!!
If possible, I would pitch a tent in this place and enjoy. From comics to toys to random cartoon items, it is great. How do I put it so you understand? If bees had knees, it would be this place. Great staff, toys o plenty. Comic galore. I visit every week. This place has become my addiction. Keep your cigarettes, I have Forbidden Planet.
Len Yeh
I love this place more than any other large comic shop in NYC. They're like a small local shop in a big shop body. They are professional without sacrificing the chumminess.
Plus, they give you bag and board for free, instead of charging you like some other shops.
Sherwin Sacki
For years they were the enemy but this is a big comic store which really does more than sell comics.
It really is a modern pop culture of memorabilia with comics, cards, books, toys, posters you name it.
Covers genres such as sci-fi, manga and fantasy too.
Great to have a wonder on both floors
Captain Fantastic
Forbidden Planet is the go-to comic book shop in NYC! They're always well-stocked with the latest single issues and trades, as well as action figures, statues, shirts and any other paraphernalia you might think of. In short, it's a pop culture dream come true. And the staff is always friendly and helpful when you need assistance. Support your local comic book shop...especially FORBIDDEN PLANET!
W. Craig Clark
Really loud heavy metal music playing throughout store. I guess people like that. They have a great selection of comics and comic related stuff. Also have a good selection of games. As well as some really cool mini figures. 10/10, would recommend.
DioStarr Creations
Staff is always pleasant, search is always fruitful. Killed a few $$ and some time during my lunch break. Added a few of my "grails" to my Figure collection.
Bhavil Acharya
The best place in NYC. I had the most pleasurable experience here. The staff is excellent and everyone helped me to pack my stuff as i was to take it overseas. I SINCERELY RECOMMEND ALL AND EVERYONE who grew up reading comics to visit this store....I AM CERTAINLY COMING BACK FOR MORE.
Chris Grant
A well stocked haven of comic-bookery and associated magnificence. Very friendly staff, and lots to look at make this a nice spot to visit. Well worth a purchase for a gift or the flight home.
David Randall
This place was super cool. All sorts of great gifts and toys. A HUGE comic book selection. Like, HUGE. Not just current comics but some old ones too. It was a good way to start the day before heading into the Strand for regular books.
sunny crays
I really love this place. It's not just the diverse selection of great comics, it's the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Great for comic lovers, those invested in pop culture and people looking for gifts for that special nerd in their life. Worth checking out at least once even if you aren't a fan of comics.
Ashley Brown
Super fun comic store. They had a nice selection to go through. They also stock figures and such which is a plus. Nice staff too. Always good for a quick run in.
Ernest Parker
Always , always, always I and my friends find great collectibles at great prices at Forbidden Planet. The workers also have to take credit for getting me to return time and time again. They are quite a pleasant and very helpful group
Desmond Chow
There is just so much to see in this place that I forget it is a comic book store sometimes. There are so many toys and collectibles, it makes it hard to leave the store without something. The staff is nice and friendly esp helpful. Definitely a good place to bring your nerdy friends to check out.
Jennifer Lerch
Another store my husband loves people are amazing they offer a lot of different things
John Mariakis
Fantastic comic shop for new books and merchandise. There doesn't seem to be a back-issue section however. Beyond that, the store is huge (for Manhattan) and the staff from my interactions are friendly and approachable. I work around the corner and stop in a few times a month. Make mine Forbidden Planet.
Kaz Uy
I love going to this store! If you have money to spend, and you're into comics or anime, you should head over here. They have tons of comics, books, figurines, and shirts to choose from. They have plenty of merchandise, and the employees are really nice!
Jane Leung
I was looking for a particular item here but unable to find. The staff here was very helpful and one of them suggested something else. It was definitely in my price range so I made the purchase and was happy. Will definitely be back to see if I get anything else.
Manuel Clements
The driver taking as from JFK to the hotel was surprised to discover my son planned to go to this shop. He was himself a comic books aficionado and they both discussed about their likes and dislikes when it came to comics stores. After visiting Forbidden planet, a few days later, I have to say I fully understand their enthusiasm about this spot. B taken to the Z, taken to the max.
Daviann Morais (Divi)
Run by a lovely bunch of people. I have a box on hold to get comics I'm interested in. They have a variety of graphic novels, manga, comics and collectibles and toys. There is also a variety of card and table top games to choose from, figures, blind boxes and more.
Jemillie H
I didn't realize how much my son lovesss this store till yesterday. He's only 2 and walked out super upset at me that we were leaving. He said he wasn't done seeing everything 🤦🤦. Definitely will be back. PS the prices for these comic books, tshirts, hats and other features are supppeerrr affordable. They even have a section that offers $1 or $5 comic books 😄😄 my favorite section lol. Must visit.
MARINA justyaoi
They carry indie comics!!!! I mean, not just things that are released by the big three (DC, Marvel, Dark Horse). They carry actual comics created by independent artists and writers who are up-and-coming fresh voices! You don't know how great this discovery is... especially in the wonder that is New York City!
Brennan Ortiz
One of Manhattan's best comic book and collectibles shops. Upon walking in, you'll notice the huge selection of collectible figures, statues and busts, many of which are vintage, as well as new. There is also a seemingly unlimited selection of graphic novels and similarly themed merchandise from t-shirts to mugs. This is a great place to stop at if only to just browse.
Alex
Really like this store. they sell action figures, comic books, shirts, accessories, statues etc from new to vintage. their prices usually match what you can find online as well which is my favorite thing about them.
Adam Martinez
Long running staple of the NYC comic book community. Though I will confess I dont love this location as much as their previous one (this is the third location they've had in NYC) I will admit it is the cleanest, most modern and most welcoming location they've had. Combined with friendly, knowledgeable staff, this place is still a delight to visit, even if that's becoming harder and harder to do as of late. If you have the time, and the staff isnt too inundated, i highly encourage you to take the time to chat em up. Everyone there is pretty unique and fun to converse with, and hearing about their creative endeavors outside the workplace makes for good fuel for aspiring creators who visit the store.
Amauri Taveras
Nice location, nice crowd inside, good selection of geekery incoming table top games. Prices are OK at best. Staff helpful but often overwhelmed by the number of people. Good if you want to find a gift, maybe not so good if you need to haunt some aisles for an hour to find your selection.
Charlie Szymanski
Love this place. Board games. The latest comics. Wide graphic novel selection. T shirts. Toys. Lots of cool stuff. Very, very few back issues of comics, so don't expect that. But otherwise it's a lot of fun.
Kris S
Great comic alt to midtown comics. Great indie selection and was surprised by the bad movie section, that was a good surprise
Danny
Great selection of comics and collectibles + nice people working there
Damon Avinger
I have been going to Forbidden Planet since I was a kid and I'm approaching 50. The selection of comics, toys, t shirts and other comic related accessories is top notch. A must visit of you are a collector of comic related items.
Kara Thrace
Very knowledgeable staff is happy to help you find what you're looking for or recommend new comics. They have a wide selection of geeky t-shirts, figurines, key chains, etc. The manga selection covers the popular works and there are plenty of indie graphic novels as well. If you don't have the funds to buy at the time, no one complains if you stop in to read.
Luis Andrade
Love this place. Large selection and very knowledgeable and friendly staff. A must visit if you're into collectibles.
Desiree Cojulun
Great stuff, a shame there is no place to seat but still worth a visit. If you see a Funko you like, buy it immediately or else it will go fast! Look for the $1 comic stand, it's worth a visit.
steven keel
It's pretty cool. Smaller then midtown comics but alot better in terms of atmosphere...they play a really good radio station too. Comics are up to date and staff are helpful.
Aksel Holguin Abreu
One of my favorite stores to go get comic books. I have constantly gone to this place when I started collecting comic books. Atmosphere is pretty cool too (the music, the badges and stickers). Overall, a must go to for any comic book collector.
elyse irish
My favorite comic book store the people that work there are friendly and will answer just about any question. They will look up books for you and if they dont have it will suggest where to find it. The selection is great and ever growing. Lots of fun things to see
Liz Milizio
I've been going here for years. Besides a perfect inventory of books, graphic novels, new releases, toys, games, shirts, and collectibles, the staff is always extremely helpful (but not in a pushy way) and very nice.
Raul Espinosa
Great and helpful crew to find your toys, thank you!
N.
Forbidden Planet is a sacred place for action figure enthusiasts around the world! London has one too of course, but if you are visiting NY you MUST go and have a look! As always I was there for Star Wars Black Series hunting! It really has everything though! Go have fun!
Ben Clark
Whenever I'm in Union Square area, I make a visit to this little shop. It takes me back to my youth when I used to view comic book shops with awe and reverence. Forbidden planet brings all those feelings back in the best way.
Darrell Anderson
I've been coming here since it was across the street.. more comics back then...but even though they've changed with the times, still a go to place for your comic anime, manga, figurine, funky t-shirt fix. Staff remains knowledgeable, and just as into your thing as you are....and you can still hang around....
Ceairra Singh
Well really my boy friend loves it, everyone we pass union square we have to go 🙄🙄 but the staff is nice and the stuff in there is pretty cool (when I actually know who the character is) not really my cup of tea, but for people who love comics it's great. …
Jake Trashansky
I'm not one for writing reviews but I really felt the need here. Seriously awesome customer service. I placed an order for a volume from a series that I couldn't find anywhere. I finally found it at FP and ordered it right away super excited. About an hour after placing my order I got a call from Jeff at FP. He was calling to say he pulled my order and noticed that the book wasn't in perfect condition. He explained the damage, which sounded very minor, and explained my options. He said he would be happy to send me the copy and discount me 10% for the damage or he said he had a line on another copy that he could get me if I was willing to wait. He even went so far as to email me photos of the book so I can see for myself. When I looked at the photos, I laughed a bit. The damage was so incredibly minor that I barely noticed it. The bottom corner of the cover was slightly bent, that's all! But then I realized that Jeff takes pride in giving people perfect products that they can enjoy for a long time. I gladly accepted the "damaged" copy of the book, got refunded a couple bucks which really wasn't necessary, and 2 days later it was at my door. Overall extremely satisfied with this purchase from FP and especially the service Jeff provided me. The experience may not sound very crazy but I was truly amazed with the level of care and customer service that Jeff showed. Well done guys! Will be grabbing the next volume from FP as well!
Kelly Johnston
It's an intimidating place when you first walk in - not only are there tons of comics, but books, games, figures, statues, toys, t-shirts, etc. Don't let that stop you, however; you're now in one of the greatest comic stores in the States, if not the world.
Since the move from their old space on the corner, the layout is much easier to navigate and the shelving system makes much better sense. The staff knows their stuff and are very approachable, in my experience. They go the extra distance to answer your question or find your product.
There are often cool events (signings, new releases, etc.) and the ambiance is geeky friendly. Great place to get comics/get your geek on!
Armando Pesantes-Saenz
So glad this place opened back up. Its got so many of the comics and collectables I love in one spot. Staff is great too... everyone should stop by at least once to check it out.
Dallas Goldtooth
Terrific Place, lots of merchandise. Fairly busy when I went. I wish it was larger. It seems like it could use more space for all the merchandise that they have there. The staff was very knowledgeable about a variety of Pop Culture items.
Charlene
Great selection of anime items, graphic novels, and collectibles.
Dwayne Lowe
The staff was pleasant and very helpful. It's my 3rd fave comic shop in the city. I highly recommend dropping by if you like comic books.
Jonathan Rodriguez
The staff are knowledgeable on ALL the products here, whether it be comics, cards, or anime. They don't have that corporate rinse and repeat feel that other shops convey. The layouts of the revamped store really attract strangers to come in as well. You can get lost in conversation for hours here with all the folks that share these interests. This place is a haven for those passionate for the craft!
Garvey Smith
I LOVE THIS PLACE! It's been my LCS for the last year and I really appreciate how easy going and approachable the staff is. They also have a huge selection of newer indie titles and old classic comics as well as figures, manga, board games and other nerdy collectibles.
James Calabro
The most comic books I've ever seen in one place. Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Stefan Carpio
Into comics and/collectibles Forbidden Planet is a great spot to check out. The store houses an array of products making sure that there is something for everyone for any budget.
Looking for comics a good selection of Marvel and DC as well as indie.
Are collectibles more your thing, the sell a but of everything. Funko Pops are sold at a normal price unless it's a non specicalty series exclusive, for example Hot Topic, Target, Comic Con, etc; along with chases come with a premium price. There import figures are limited and wouldn't be my go it spot for them but worth a look if your looking for something, for imports Imagine Anime or Midtown Comics would are better for imports, but their amount of domestic figures are good, for example I would check them first if was looking for something from NECA.
Overall the store is a great place to check out if your in the area, waiting for someone or something, and of course taking your out of town family or friends that are into comics/collectibles.
Allen Hentscher
They have tons of stuff, more novelties/toys than comics but they have a lot of those too. Prices were pretty good for NYC and the staff was friendly. Easy to get to since the Union Square 14th St station is only a block away.
Sean Green
As a collector, it is very rare that I go to Forbidden Planet and not buy an item. I called them my toy drug dealers and I'm their junkie because I would spend hundreds of dollars on toy and collectibles. But I do get a discount since I've been a loyal customer for over a decade. Almost every week they have a different variety of toys, collectibles, comic books and graphic novels. Their staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. This place is my temporary Sanctuary from The Real World.
Anthony Alcaro
An excellent store to go to when you want to let the geek in you shine! They have everything from anime, figurines, toys, card games, board games, to books, and more. They recently moved down the street from their old location, but still have plenty of space. If you ever need help picking a new game to play or just want to get involved in some new story, the staff have always given me great recommendations. Be sure to check Google Offers before you go; sometimes they have good deals here!
Jarron Smith
Great staff very organized sections great atmosphere. A must see for comic enthusiasts and sci fi fans. In my opinion one of the best graphic tee shirt paraphernalia and model figures.
Derek Arteaga
Great experience. So many cool things. From hard to find movies to cool decorations!! Awesome place!
Syd Padgett
Great selection of toys and graphic novels...short on back issue offerings. Staff were very nice. Place was a little croudes but not so much as to be annoying. Lots to looks at and browse through.
Lauralee Voy
I could get lost in here for hours! If you love anything from Marvel movies to Sailor Moon then this is your one stop shop for you or the nerd in your life! Prices are reasonable for the merch they carry! They have speciality items that will blow your mind! Definitely worth checking out or you're missing out!
James Zygmont
Huge assortment of books, board games, comics, figures, movies, and more! Pretty much anything you could thing of putting up a "nerd wall" you can find here. Staff are pretty friendly and they have a wide assortment of popular merchandise, as well. This place can get pretty crowded, though.
Acadia Einstein
They have a ton of comics obviously but also some good games and fun toys. Some staff is more helpful than others, but don't be afraid to go in if you don't know anything about comics.
Jennifer Montenegro Parra
It's amazing!! Had a lot of manga and collectinable toys
Kenneth Meyer-Lassen
Lovely shop with a lot of geaky stuff
Lucas Valdez Capuccino
The place is full with comics, books, figures and board games. Its the perfect place to let you inner geek flourish. But be careful, prices (at least on board games) me be a bit higher here than in other places. Still a great place to go
Luke Tzeng
Cool shop if you're into comic books and nerd stuff. A bit more expensive than most places, but being here you're really immersed in it. It's always cheaper to buy it online, but you can't really buy the experience of being surrounded by it online.
Erik Domnizky
What a great location!
For a while I thought Forbidden Planet had closed, seeing as its slot near Union Square had been replaced with a Zumiez, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shop has simply moved down the road a bit.
Forbidden Planet is a nice spot to stop over and browse. With a large collection of books, and a generous stock of collectibles and cards, I find it's the perfect place to visit while on the way to a movie at the nearby Regal Cinema. Staff is helpful, though on occasion items can be a bit on the pricey side.
Nevertheless, if you're in or near Union Square, check out Forbidden Planet.
Z Jazzerator
One of my most FAVORITE STORES !! LOVE LOVE ALL THE COLLECTIBLE TOYS they have!! Round the corner from Strand you just can't go wrong. A must see shop in NYC.
Ian Robertson
An expensive mid-town comic store with good selection. IMO the place could use an overhaul. They have a large selection for a brick-and-mortar, but it's so tightly cramped that even it's large location (for NYC) keeps you circulating and moving. Rarely have I ever felt the ability to slow down and find something I really like and want.
Elom Bowman
One of my favorite comic book stores in the city for years! Comics, figures, etc, they got it!
Gustavo Adolfo
The most attractive aspect of this store was the large variation of toys, action figures and comic book novelties they had. Everything is a bit pricey (which you can buy most of the stuff for half the price in the internet) but that didn't deter me away from still enjoying the large variation of things they had to offer.
Vernon Williams
One of my favorite comic book stores, Forbidden Planet is a survivor. It has been in several locations in the area and I've been an irregular customer for at least 30 years. They have a great collection of books, graphic novels, and manga as well as tee shirts and other merchandise. Their staff is helpful and knows it's stuff.
Ezekiel Lyons
This is one of those New York places that you have to visit if you come. There are Comics Galore along with all kinds of imported toys and clothing. this place brings out the child in all of us with products ranging from comic books to card games to clothing two bags and even lunch boxes and kitchenware imagine being able to get a Star Wars ice tray at the same place that you can get a tardis winter hat. Staff is friendly and professional and expert in all things comic game and manga related. It is situated in an easy to find location on Broadway just south of Union Square and right in the middle of plenty of other shopping destinations.
Dajion Grant
I didn't go in looking for anything rare or unique. Just a simple search for some cool pins. Glad to report that the staff helped me get some pins that I am very excited about. Their board of patches caught my eye on the way out. Will be returning for a couple patches to start my collection.
Jesus Castro
This was the first place where I first started buying my comics. Even though they don't have much of the rare comics, it is still a good place to go to.The do have great discounts for college students. This is also a great place to go and buy your comic con tickets.
David
I live in Oklahoma and we don't have a plethora of places to buy comics. NO ONE had Martian Manhunter #1, but Forbidden Planet came through with amazing prices and awesome delivery time! My comic is pristine and they even sent me an awesome postcard! I WILL be buying from here again!
RJ Perfetto
A nice collectible location, overpriced pricey, not much backstock on older comics. Excellent customer service.
Runar Pettersen
Huge selection of cartoons, figures, memorabilia, horror, science fiction, shirts and much much more. Here you can go nuts over cool and weird stuff. You can empty Donald Trump's wallet in a couple of hours by buying the most important things at Forbidden Planet. Let's go crazy!
Christopher Wood
There is no comic book shop in the city like Forbidden Planet, and their recent move only makes the store better. Gone are the cramped walking spaces, the bag checks, and the top floor. Everything is laid out in a nice open floor with lots of space for moving around and seeing all the awesome stuff this store has to offer. If you're visiting Union Square and are nerd-inclined, you owe it to yourself to stop by.
Yedmi Ochoa
Forbidden Planet just moved to its new location and it's amazing!!!!! It may be small but every comic is in reach. From batman to spider man. Great selection of toys and clothing from show like breaking bad and arrow. The prices and very cheap and the workers are helpful.
Yoon Yeong Choi
“A Must Visit for comics lover”
Located right next to Strand Bookstore, this shop is a paradise for comics lovers. Although a little bit lacking previous issues, you can still find most of the latest issues. Most importantly, they have much wider collections of toys, vinyl figures, Dorbz and Funko Pops than Midtown Comics. This place is worthy of visit.
Preston Leslie
Forbidden Planet is great at what they do: act as a front of the line for entryway into games, figures, comics and manga. But for the more serious collectors there are many better places around. It's also slightly strange that they're right next to The Strand and carry many of the same items...
Max Martinez
I ordered a lot of books from this shop ironically I haven't bought any comics since I was a teenager and now that I'm getting back into it I order online from where it all started and get my books shipped to me in mint condition no damages, and negligent-proof in case a delivery person wants to toss it around. Thanks for what you guys do!
Jose Cordova
It's a collectible store where you can find stuff you love to collect also has comics books, books, games, trading cards and etc. Great place to go always enjoy myself with my friend.
man s.
The biggest comic book and comic related figure and memorabilia store. What people don't know is that this is the cheapest place to buy any comic character-related t shirts. Two shirts of your choice for only $30 with plenty of design to choose from. Tends to get crowded in weekends so plan your visit accordingly. There is also another massive Forbidden Planet sister store by Covent Garden area on Shaftesbury street in central London.
Timothy Hutto
I love this place! There are a few stores in NYC that let you express your inner geek and Forbidden Planet is the best! From Funko Pops to trade paperbacks they have it all and then some. Do yourself a favor and visit tpday.
John Carlo Cruz (Aries0083)
This store is the best place to get new stuff. Right now they have the Marvel Universe Blastaar and Jubilee, while the biggest Toys R Us in New york still doesn't have them.
And bring a U.K. Store they have a great selection of Doctor Who merchandise and reasonable prices.
bda617
Better than Newbury comics! This place has everything, not just comics. They've got Pop dolls, collectible items, tshirts, and a large selection of mangas! And it's all fairly priced and not hard to find. I'll gladly come back to this place again!
Grace Sabella
This place is nerd heaven. I think they have just about every graphic novel known to man. The staff is super friendly and went out of their way to help me find an amazing Batman book featuring Art Deco architecture.
jonathan agosto
Very accommodating and helpful to customers whether they 1st time or 100th time. Prefer them over many other comic book stores in this city. They are very knowledgeable
Romattee Gopysingh
Comic books Nirvana. I take friends there all the time. Love the nostalgia and ambience. Reminds me of being kid with adult perks. Well stocked for all tastes with great selection of figures and accessories. Love this place definitely a to do for for all
Steven Riley
Forbidden Planet is a Comic Book, Sci-fi, and Fantasy fan hub. Its a great place to meet and socialize with others. Children should always be accompanied by adults in this day and age. It's a great place to plan events around upcoming films with graphic novels and comic heroes that inspired them. Forbidden Planet is truly a New York landmark.
Jonathan
Great comic book store! I go in there to look around and I want to just buy everything. They are well organized with a good selection. Friendly and professional staff.
Caryn D Prescott
Cool place to buy lots of pop and counterculture items. Comics, graphic novels, books, zines and magazines. Also great selection of games, clothes and memorabilia. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and have good taste in music :)
Koneko Your Average Nerd
I always really enjoy going into Forbidden Planet. Their (newer) location is really pleasant to be in even with the usual crowd of people. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable. Even if I am not looking to buy anything there is always something I want.
Mariya Mindyuk
In terms of toys, great selection. In terms of comic books and graphic novels, I wish they had more in terms of older material. Other than that, great location, very clean and well organized.
Charlie Shay
The place to go to geek out! Huge comics (and manga) selection. You can also find some unique and/or rare figurines here. I believe they also have a small anime section upstairs. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Now if only they have a board game section...
tea
Excellent place for comics, books shirts ,hats etc. Every chance I can get I'm in there, staff are helpful and experienced.
juniper a
It’s such a cute store. Plenty of different comic books and merch, manga, games, etc.
Aravinthan Aravinth
Store was amazing, but action figures prices are very high compared online (Amazon).
E 2818
They have a good selection of t-shirt,comics,and collectables. Staff is very knowledgeable on what they have.
Captain B
Honestly as a disabled person I would really appreciate if they had anywhere to sit. Sometimes it takes a while to decide whether or not to buy a graphic novel you've never read before. I understand they want to discourage people from reading and then not buying but I'd spend a lot more money there if it wasn't physically painful to shop.
Zeke Nieves
Irreplaceable. A heaven or every enthusiast, collector and nerd in us all. Long live Forbidden Planet.
Akshay Arora
This place has been around a loooong time. What it focuses on has changed over the years, but they usually have something for everyone. I've been coming here for nearly two decades to get things ranging from dice, d&d books to Magic cards. Big selection of comic related things.
Geek haven.
Erick Sossa
Shop is awesome eye candy. Their assortment of collectibles are nuts..really wide variety. Only draw back is their staff are usually very sarcastic and always act as if ur bothering them
riley parker
This is a good shop for Manhattan. Large selection of comics, trades, shirts, toys, games et cetera. More of a superstore than a "store for locals", but it's Manhattan, so that's expected. I stop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood, and highly recommend it to action figure and statue collectors.
Jansen Chan
I love Forbidden Planet! Forbidden Planet is my #1 comic book store. They have a student deal where you get 10% off your purchase! It doesnt seem like a lot but it really is a saver :) The people there are a little intimidating though.
Andre Cotto (Trustdre)
Had a great vist with my 10 year old son. They are aee very polite and helpful here. Just by coincidence we went on Free Comic day and even though it was extra busy I have no complaints.
Kenneth Huertas
A great place to NECA brand action figure at a decent price. Forbidden Planet charges less than Midtown Comics for the same NECA figure. The store is little cramped if you're visiting with a back pack on.
B COLLINS
Nerd heaven! Great selection of old and new comics. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. If you want to find that comic you read as a kid, find this place! ( ask your significant other first how much you are allowed to spend).
Becky Panda
For comic books lovers, collectors and so much more for every age. From kids cartoon, superheroes, popular shows and movies to manga and comics. Always great to visit.
Gordon Fisher
Thank You LORD JESUS for another day.
Upon arrival you see many figures, statues, comic books, shirts and this place is well stocked. Service is decent and knowledgeable, and expensive make sure you have cash cause window shopping is 👎
Jesus Loves You John 3:16 ❤
Sara S.
Had a great selection, but it was organized a little weird, thankfully their staff is nice and helpful, found a few things I'd been looking for for a while.
D D
A great spot to pick up books but keep in mind supplies are always limited here. The free boards and bags are a plus though unlike the fact that that "other midtown" places charges you for them.
Beverly White
Love this place, it totally takes me back to my use. It has an amazing inventory of comic books. And the customer service is A1, they're very helpful
DANY L
Comic book lovers this place is amazing! I've purchased comics and just recently a Rubix cube. Very busy, happening, people of all ages and a very fun place to be in. I will come back here.
Karl Bauer
Always a great place for comics, or toys relating to comics and movies. They have a very detailed dvd section on low budget and favorite films. They always update their comics daily, so you can always get the latest. They have a large selection of board games, and their staff is always helpful and knowledgeable in the all things related to comics and sci-fi. Their located on Broadway where they've been located for years. Just now a different building I believe. Always fun, and always a treat to go to. Located near 14th Street station, and accesable from everywhere. Expect to spend some quality time there. They have a lot, and if they don't they'll know where to get it from.
Rob K
Great selection of comics, graphics novels, and toys. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is organized in a way that makes it super easy to find that author or book you're interested in.
Shon Feliciano
I went to the Forbidden Planet this past weekend. And the Store & Staff are Outstanding. The staff is very knowledgable. courteous and they make shopping there Great. I bought several copies of the new Fangoria. Great Place !!!
Michael Whitley
Forbidden Planet is a haven for all things related to geek-dom. Everything from Yoga piggy banks, to domestic and imported comic books to statues of your favorite characters to trading cards, the list goes on and on like the clientele's struggle with virginity. (ha!)
Really, Forbidden Planet is a great place to stop by and peruse the items while you're in the area, convenient to Union Square and NYU. The prices can be a little extreme, but the items are undeniably pristine and the staff is usually pretty helpful.
Matthew Robbins
Completed an online order with them recently and the whole process was easy. The package arrived today and was very nicely packaged. Definitely am happy with my purchase and will be back. Thanks!
Mark Leneker
Great place for comics, Funko, etc. Especially appreciate the free bag and board with each comic purchased.
Hank Williams
My favorite comic shop in NY! Walls of comics, toys and geeky t-shirts that I’ve never seen elsewhere. The staff is friendly and helpful. Great place!
Ro Rosario
One of my all time favorite comic book stores. Large selection, helpful staff, good selection of manga, just wish they had a bigger adult section.
Ramy Stein
Nice new location with an excellent selection of comics, toys, t-shirts and many other things you expect from your local comic shop. Right around the corner from their old spot. Staff are very friendly and helpful if you need assistance.
Julie Connectict
We were led to believe that this was a huge science fiction store. it's just a comic book store. Not really worth the trip all the way into the city just to see it.
Russell
Very Nice Store. They have very knowledgeable employees on comics and comic book mythology.
Forbidden Planet should compete with Online Sellers, so there can be an actual sale.
For Comicbook collectors, there should be one Comicbook for reading and rest need to be in a protective sleeve. Wrinkled corners and Smudges are terrible for the collector's value.
They don't carry comics in a consecutive set lined on the shelf, like a new Smallville series, Comics 1-11, they are missing 3-9. There isn't a second comicbook in case someone else wants to buy.
Monimor
Love the place! 😍 Great amount of figures, shirts, comics and manga. Just AMAZING. …
Sami Saarelainen
If you are looking for the ultimate nerd experience in NYC this could be THE place for you. A big store with comics, books, figures, shirts and other sexy things. They have lots of things on display and for you to amaze. Really suggest you pick this place if you are interrested in gaming/movies and everything related.
JJ Ortiz-Carlo
If I could, I would marry this store and move into it. This is an unearthly paradise. Yes, it's that good.
Sean
Great shop right in the middle of the city. This has just about everything you could possibly need from a comic shop- comics, toys, shirts, trades, memorabilia! Staff is always eager to help.
Andi Lee Carter
Amazing selection of toys, games, collectibles, and comics. Only wish they had more tabletop merch for Legion, Armada, and Crisis Protocol.
Sydney
VERY EXPENSIVE but a cool selection if you’re into this stuff. bought a toy for toys for tots last month
Josean Ortiz
This place was a dream for a person like me. Geek heaven! From figures, to board games to small items for most interests, this place is awesome! You must pass by this one. Few stores are as cool as this one.
Sylwia Vogelgesang
Forbidden Planet has a great collection of action figures.
They have a variety of comics in the back. I was surprised to see Xena the Warrior Princess comic books. Great service when you are in need of help to find what you are looking for!
Jeff AL
Ever since I was a kid in the 1980s this Comicbook Shop has strived for quality in goods and services delivered. America, if you are in in the NYC area please visit Forbidden Planet, they are A New York Classic!👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 …
Cruffie
There are few places in New York City as comprehensive as this for comics, manga, sci-fi, horror, and everything in between, and their assorted merchandise. Forbidden Planet is THE high temple of Geekdom! They moved from the corner of Broadway and a few years back, and have only gotten better, not just bigger. Their customer service is still top notch, their selection is even more mind-boggling, what they don't have in stock they can easily get thanks to great relationships with the manufacturers, and they always have awesome specials just about every week. Bonus: if you're on their mailing list you get invites to screenings and events. It's enough to make a geek implode!
J Matias
This place is awesome! They have an insane amount of comics, figures, statuettes and general geek paraphernalia. Their prices are fair for NYC. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.
Matan Lurey
Small but awesome shop. Friendly employees
Kyle “MAC 316” Mcintosh
Another great Comic Book shop I love to visit. I trip to Union Square isn't complete until to set foot inside this place
Lamarr Hawkins
Randomly walked by the store and the Captain America shield door handles and Terminator replica in the window lured me in. Loved the selection from Metal Gear Solid Figures to everything Dr. Who. Didn't know I was looking for anything in particular but a helpful associate definitely pointed me in the direction of things I wanted. really looking forward to my next visit.
Davey Parekh
Amazing shop. Great stuff. Pricey. Stuff you can't really get access to easily in London. Other nice things also in the store like T Shirts and badges.
jonny b
I love going here. Been going here for years even when it was the other location. I rarely spend money here but its amazing if you wanna get info on cool stuff. They need the anime section back like they used to have😪 …
Anthony Stark
This place is a treasure trove! I've purchased many amazing bits and bobs here. Try to look at the back shelves for the good deals. I bought my daily Tardis mug and my Bioshock figures here, best store ever.
Leonardo Gonzalez
We are not 20 years ago where being a geek was looked down upon. This is the place to geek out over anything. While anime is the most displayed around you still got pops of MANY genres, full figures of DC or Marvel characters that rotate every now and again and cool staff that have some knowledge atleast of the things your interested in. Place is very inclusive and not bad place to go wether or not you want to invest in some manga (tho i have been there on a busy day and the aisles can be vety tightly packed so maneuvering around can be difficult and seems bad to idle on something too long.
Christopher Yanaranop
It's alright, nice displays other than that typical comic store. Nice thing is they provide boards and bags when you buy a comic book off the current shelve, that's good,
Fred Alluso
This is without a doubt the holy land for fanboys and fangirls all over the world. Ask anyone you know that is obsessed with Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Marvel Comics, Super Heroes, etc. - about this place and their eyes will begin to glaze over as they excitedly recount all of the wonderful collectibles, posters, book and pins they were able to source (or plan on buying) at Forbidden Planet.
This store is lots of fun to visit, especially if you are on a mission to buy your favorite trading cards, comic books, videos, manga, anime, character statues and even cos-play attire.
They also have book and art signings by contemporary creatives.
Gabriel Cao
Manga. Anime. Western comics. All sorts of curios and doodads. Trading cards and the like. Staff are around and friendly when needed. If you're buying a gift for a fellow geek, otaku, or enthusiast, come here. Expect good gifts to be around 20-50 dollars (grab boxes are 5-10)
Yash Kulshrestha
They have a huge selection of comics and comic book related things, I was able to find relatively obscure books as well as all the popular ones.
If you buy comics, they also include covers with cardboard sheets so that the comics survive transporting.
Chloe Lim
A lot of good collection and the staffs are super helpful. I especially like that they have an interractive monitor at the entrance that you can browse through the store layout and summary. Geeky yet lovely place.
