Love this store. It is like my Fortress of Solitude. It has books, comics, movies, gadgets, etc. all at great prices. Staff is super friendly. Would recommend this store for the nerd in anyone.

Loved this bookstore for years and I love it all the more now. I love that I can always find more than just the everyday best seller books. McKay’s has all those, but they also have the best selection and prices on books you won’t see anywhere else. I love browsing and finding something cool that piques my interest!

I love this bookstore. I make a stop every time I’m in Nashville. They have a massive selection of books, records, and even cds. I usually always leave with books that I’ve been wanting to read at more than half the price. I actually got one this week for ten cents. I also bought 15 cds during another road trip and just had my own nostalgic drive through the USA while listening to old music that cost less than $10 for all of it. Definitely recommend if you’re every stopping through.

The amount of books in this store is amazing. The shelves are organized and labeled for easy browsing. They also have a nice selection of games (both board and video). I love that the shopping carts had drink holders, because what's better than books and coffee? I had a great time perusing the store, and I could have stayed longer, but we were on a time crunch.

McKay’s has to be in the top 5 best used book stores in the country. It’s especially great for students because they have most assigned reading, usually pretty inexpensive. You have to really look and spend the time but you can find some treasures in there.

Oh my gosh. This place is better than Half Priced Books. It has everything from instruments to electronics. It also has a list of where to find different genres of books on each aisle which is very helpful. It’s giant in here so it’ll take you a couple of hours if you’re a book lover.

I love this place! Best used for browsing rather than looking for a specific item, I find it better to come in and see what I can find rather than getting frustrated not knowing the genre of the book I wanna read.

went in today to look for a vinyl for a band and some books; although i didn’t find the vinyl was looking for, i found some books that were interesting! the store itself is super big and you can always find something here 😁 the prices are reasonable, the lines move pretty quick, and the staff is very helpful! definitely worth the drive!!

Got a recommendation to check this place out. I was glad it was fairly close to me. Upon entering, my high expectations were lowered drastically because of the high energy. It almost felt as if it was a Brandsmart but for books and nerdy paraphernalia. Why is everyone rushing around? The selection of used books and certainly the prices were amazing - if you had the time and patience to browse in what felt like highways for aisles. A large portion of the store was books, while the rest consisted of board games, toys, records, CDs, DVDs, manga, comics, and misc. Don't want to spoil the reputation of the store because of one less-than-great experience, but I'll leave it at a 4. I'm sure lots of people will and do enjoy this place!

So many choices!! They’re way more than just a used bookstore. The puzzle section was huge!! I thought the hardbacks were a little overpriced but Nashville is overall more expensive anyways.

This bookstore is awesome!!! So so so many books to look at. We didn't even get to the second floor, maybe next time. I went in just to browse and came out with 3 sacks full of amazing books to read. The staff was friendly and very helpful. With the long lines at checkout it didn't take very long at all to check out. Our daughter in law finds the best places for us to visit when we come to Tennessee!! Loved this bookstore and will definitely come back!!!

This place is such a gem! My children and I loved it! There is a little of everything for everyone. I was a bit nostalgic looking at so many different movies, musics, games, toys and soooo much more! This is an all day fun experience for everyone. The only thing is don’t go right when school gets out. The right turn was crazy and I was waiting like 25 minutes for 200 feet! I know better for next time!

There is something nostalgic about McKays, and it brings you back down memory lane... but the prices have changed with the times and demand. Not terribly though! Everything is affordable and neatly organized! They have any and everything you could think of! A great afternoon to spend and pass some time. You will def find some cool stuff!

ALWAYS a fun visit. Two whole floors of books, games, gaming systems, cameras, toys, movies, music instruments... you name it, they probably have it. And the trade-in process is super easy. I've personally made over a hundred dollars every time I've brought in stuff to exchange. My only complaint? I wish they were closer to where I live!

One of my top two bookstores in the South. An amazing collection of used books at reasonable prices. I scan every book in Biography from A to Z and always come home with some obscure title I never heard of. It you love books, prepare to spend hours here. Easier shopping on weekdays. The other store is Mr. I'd in Johnson City, TN as well as NC and SC.

One of very favorite places in Nashville! It is a must stop for me any time I'm in Nashville and I have made multiple trips to McKay's being the main destination. The employees are friendly and helpful. The shelves are fully stocked with a huge variety of books for everyone of all ages, a huge selection of different genres of cds and DVDs, musical instruments, collectibles, a very large assortment of video games, toys, microphones, iPads and so much more! There really is no way to describe what all is available in this place. If you are looking for something specific or enjoy looking to see what all really is there, then I would highly recommend carving out some serious time. I think the first time I went, I spent three hours there. The products are categorized very well. It is easy to get up and down the isles but it can be a bit crowded at times. The products are all very well priced as well. I have bought a plethora of items from this place and have never been disappointed. They do have specific policies about trading and buying products that you bring in so I would definitely check out their website to see the requirements. I have traded and sold items there and have always gotten a great trade in for them. This place is very well worth the time!

Great fun exploring the aisles of McKays. I felt it had a better selection than the Knoxville or Chattanooga locations. It was a little tough maneuvering the aisles as it was jam packed on a Saturday around noon. I will be coming back not on a Saturday to enjoy it even more than I enjoyed it this time around.

Great shop to find older books you may not find in the larger outlets! They also have instruments, electronics, and toys for sale. This is a large two level store to get lost in. I love it! For any book worms touring Nashville, this is a great place to stop! 😁

I love McKay's. I have loved them for at least 20 years. I'm super excited they have comics now. I only dropped one star because the comics are so out of order it would take a week for me to find what I wanted. I gave up after an hour today because I just don't have time to look through thousands of comics one by one.

This place is beyond massive and is quite interesting. I could easily see spending hours here and coming out with a few things. A lot of books and music (records, CDs). It definitely has a little for everyone. Has an elevator for the second floor too, but it would be a tight fit for anyone in a wheelchair up there.

Tidy and well organized and TONS of cool stuff; there’s something for everybody! Picked up some King of the Hill DVDs, some nerd t-shirts, and The Great Gatsby for a summer assignment. GG was cheaper than Amazon even, and they had several copies ranging from basic to super ornate. We had so much fun!

It's a neat store but they are asking to much for their used boardgames. You can get them brand new for a few dollars more on amazon or the same price at a boardgame store if you're a collector. If you're just trying to get a deal on good games just watch the weekly sales online and grab the same games brand new for cheaper than here.

Be great if there was a way to search what they have on stock (everything is already bar coded). Also, the trade in credit should be a little more equitable compared to what they will price the item for. Otherwise this place is awesome! Wish it wasn't so far away and there was more than one location.

I love the book selection and pricing on books. They have tons of records and CDs to choose from. The big problem I have is the pricing on electronics/games. Almost all of the used electronics/games are right at or over retail pricing. I'm not talking about old or hard to find electronics, I'm referring to newer and readily available ones.

McKay’s Nashville has an incredible library of books & DVDs for low prices. We bought a lot of DVDs for $1. The outside bins of free books in the front of the store were amazing. I got free books on music - Rolling Stone magazine and The Police. One of my favorite places in Nashville to visit, and it is near Sir Pizza.

5 star place, but a word of advice: don't go on the weekends. The place is a madhouse on Saturdays and Sundays. I've seen the line snake around through the stanchions they have and go well past halfway into the store. It's a big store, so that's a lot of people in line! COVID is still a thing, even though it's 2022. Everybody bunches up in the place. There's not really a way to move around in the place when it's crowded without being right up in the face of everyone you pass. Just be mindful of how crowded it is. ...But the store itself, and what it sells? I love it. They have video games, books, music, board games, toys, electronics, cameras, and musical equipment. You can even buy used cell phones and tablets there. I feel like it's never a good idea to go in there looking for something specific-- you never know what is there, and you can't ask anyone to check if something is in stock. The best approach is to just walk in on a weekday with money burning a hole in your pocket and walk out with a bunch of stuff!

Great place to hang even just for a stroll. Go with your teenager for a shared experience. Have at least one thing in mind searching for to make it interesting. Buy a book or a puzzle for a smashing deal. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice store with plenty of options. Some okay prices, something's overpriced. They NEVER have bags anymore. I go maybe twice a year so this must be a management problem. They've also developed an odor that the other locations don't have, like cigarettes. I haven't experienced that at other McKays. They should check their items better before taking them in to resale.

I love it here! This place is a media wonderland. They have a ginormous selection of movies and music at fair prices. Even though the store has a very generous amount of space for book shelves, the book selection is surprisingly limited. This seems to be the unfortunate norm for Nashville.

From used books and comics to records, pop culture collectibles, and electonics, if you are into rummaging for things you just gotta have, then set aside an afternoon and check them out. The store is huge, like overwhelmingly huge. Records and CD's are on the upper level and just about every category you can think of is covered on the first floor for books, conics, action figures, games, electronic games and systems, musical instruments, etc. It's huge so this isn't a quick stop sorta place.

I went to McKay's originally to consign some items I had. The items they took they offered me cash or trade. I took the trade which is a voucher to buy things at their store because it was $13 more than the cash. It is very easy to do business with them and they offer a selection of items. If you have never visited McKay's it is definitely worth it to stop there.

McKay's is great, but to whoever is pricing the used manga higher than retail ... I know y'all have to make money, but at a consignment shop you expect used items at a modest discount. Paying 20-30% more than retail price for something used/damaged is just silly.

McKay’s is great. Huge secondhand store with lots of different used books, records, board games, movies, video games, etc. to choose from. It’s always organized very well. It can get pretty crowded but I assure you, they keep the line moving very quickly. Bring in your old used games, books, or movies and they will pay you or give you store credit. We always get store credit because they offer you more money that way. One of my favorite places to spend a Saturday morning.

Use to love going to McKay's as a kid. Prices for movies and books were very good back then. Now, they really expanded! They have electronics, toys, board games, Magic the Gathering, vinyl, comics, etc. Although some prices are still good, some of the things I've seen aren't much of a deal considering it is all used. Some of the items I've seen are similar in price to new versions.

I like McKay's okay. They have a great selection of stuff, from books, video games, comics, musical instruments, Funkos, CDs, albums, even board games. Prices are okay on some things, but absolutely insane on others. There was one board game that was sealed and new. This game is readily available on the mass market for its retail of $40, less online. It was priced at $48. Lots of their games were used and just priced way too high for anyone familiar with the market. I'm not a big fan of places that jack up prices on used items hoping that people who don't know better will buy. If I'm looking for something out of print, I expect to pay a premium. Otherwise, charge a fair price. I may be back, but I doubt it.

Lots of free parking and though a bit far off, its located near the highway. Fast checkout in a very busy store. A word of caution though- check the DVD’s, CD’s to make sure you have the correct product in the jacket.

Everyone from bookworms to geeks and nerds will have no problem finding something that piques their interest. With that being said, do be warned. The offers made for items you sell aren't the best and it is non negotiable. If getting top dollar is your priority, consider selling online. I've sold products I paid hundreds for in the past and sometimes (not always) am only offered less than $50 for the item(s). Also, some of their electronics, specifically their gaming consoles, are often overpriced. Get this: the PS4 Pro was $400 BRAND NEW when it first launched. Want to take a guess as to how much they want to charge for a USED one? $250? $300? NO! Try $475! Honestly! WHY? I understand you need to make a profit but charging more than the launch MSRP is unacceptable. It's not like these are rare either. Sony sold over 100 millions PS4s to date and at least 1 in 5 of those were upgrades to the Pro model. I don't like using this word to describe anything but it's truly scummy to have nearly a 19% mark up over the launch price. Other than that the staff is wonderful. I apologize for letting off a lot of steam there. It's just quite annoying to see anything from years ago being sold for more than it launched for. Many Ebay listing show used Pros for $300 or less. Please be careful

Great location. Right off interstate 40. Plenty of parking. Friendly and helpful staff. They give you your space to look and hunt for books, CD's, whatever it is you are in search of. Old items or brand new, this place has so many options when it comes to anything to do with learning or teaching. Computer accessories,phone accessories, build your own computer. Home Security systems. Routers, cords, cables, chargers. Microphone. Amps, speakers, gaming consoles, anything to go with gaming. Extras for PlayStation & Xbox. Switch. Apple. Samsung. LG. Punkt. The list goes on. cameras and everything to do with cameras. Puzzles. Games. Arts n Craft. Oddly enough they don't have car stereo or audio thiugh. They also buy your used, in goodcondition items. Free book boxes outside by the front door. It's fun and affordable. Awesome time killer. You will enjoy being a customer and will go back again.

Normally Mckays had competitive prices however for Funko pops they are INSANELY high. I saw a Post Malone Funko (normally around 12-20 bucks) for nearly 55(they had tons of other examples that's just the one that stood out to me).

It's amazing how much stuff they have. Plus it's a great place to unload stuff you may no longer want. This is one of my favorite spots in Nashville. It is a warehouse of used books, dvds, cds, vinyl records, video games, comics, board games, and puzzles. They also sell used electronics, board game systems, toys, and instruments. The prices are typically discounted or fair market value. The staff are friendly and helpful and the selection is killer. This is every fangirl/boy, teacher, music lover, and avid readers favorite place to spend their spare cash. It is conveniently located on the west side of the city and it has its own dedicated, free-to-use parking lot. As an added bonus their is a coffee shop in the lot built from an old airstream type trailer, which I believe is called Trailer Perk. This is a must visit for locals and tourists alike.

Great used book store! I like to go here if I am up for browsing for a while and have the time to hunt down good treasures. While the store is organized, it is large and can be challenging if you are looking for a specific title. This visit I found a copy of one of my favorite books for only 75¢. The store also has tons of comics, games, and movies. There’s also an area with legos you can sift through and purchase by the bag.

Once you know the routine, this place is great for getting rid of old books, games, music, CDs and finding a deal with your earnings. The line to cash in my trade looked long, but it moved very quickly. You may get trade in coupons or cash. I think you get a bit more for the trade vouchers. I love McKay's! I could (and have done) spend hours in this place. Books, movies, music, gaming, you never know what you'll find, and usually it's fantastic prices. Very well organized and kept as clean as it can be with the amount of traffic. Expect, at any time, for it to be crowded and a little crazy. I've never had issues with staff- they're all lovely!- but other patrons can be pretty rude and unaware of their surroundings. All in all amazing and worth the trip every time, just be prepared for a little bit of madness 😆

We found some good books didn’t find the particular ones we were looking for. Staff was very kind and helpful. Would still love it if one day you could actually have a inventory to see if they have the book at one of their other locations like Half-price books does. Parking lot was very clean.

Be sure to set aside plenty of time to wander through this enormous and eclectic collection of books, graphic novels, toys, books, games (tabletop and video) more books, music, novelties, DVDs, musical instruments, more books ... and oh, a few more books. 😍 It stays pretty dang busy on the weekends, with locals as well as I-40 tourists like me. Used books are priced according to some mysterious internal valuation, but are virtually NEVER full cover price except for collectibles. I spent less than $15 for books that would have cost me more like $40 if it were from some big online store. Just have to have the patience to look around! Books are arranged by genre and (ostensibly) alphabetically within genre, although with browsing there's a lot of opportunity to find a yoga book in the science section, or last summer's airport bestseller in amongst the used business textbooks. DVDs and games are grouped as well, I believe DVD by genre and games by platform, but I didn't spend much time there. Music is upstairs but with all the bookshelves to check out ... I didn't even have time to meander up there! They also do a book-purchase program, but I am not familiar with it other than that it sure seems to be well-organized. Worth your time if you love non-virtual books. 👍🏼

Prices are a bit all over the place, anywhere from 10c a book upwards up to 70% of a new book cost in the same condition is use. I had the misfortune of buying a book marked just over 50% ($4.79) from full cost ($8.99), got home and realized the sticker was covering a former price for half that at $2.54. I'm not sure why the prices are so inconsistent and why some books are later marked up so much. Their trade in value is also trash. It's pretty much like GameStop, but for books. Literally nothing for cash sales, very low offers for trade-ins, and then relatively high sales prices for used books.

What a treasure trove. If you love to read (or listen to music, play games, or watch movies) then McKay's is the go to place. Warning you may find yourself wanting to spend hours here. This is such a great used bookstore. The sheer volume of books is incredible. I found several awesome items at prices cheaper than Amazon. Some of them it's hard to imagine finding anywhere else. It's as though the esoteric book that only YOU would ever be interested in is waiting there for you, whether that's about 50s Chevy's or the mating habits of bees. I've attached a couple pictures. The first floor is 75% books and 15% DVDs, and the remainder includes board games, video games (including classic systems), musical instruments, tablets, phones, and even a "bag your own Legos" set-up. The second floor is CDs, LPs, and some RPGs. The staff is friendly and the location is nice and convenient. Most importantly, I had tons of fun.

If you’re looking for textbooks print which ones you will need for the next few semesters and then ask the professors/other students if you can get away with one edition old. Go often to find the best deals. Take books and DVDs you no longer want to get trade in credit. If you shop with the credit your purchase is tax free!

If you're looking for a throwback to your younger years with books, games, toys, and much more, this is the place for you. Selection is ample. Think of a two story big box book store, but more vintage-like. The only note I'd make is that this is not for thrifters. You'll won't pay pennies on the dollar for things, you'll pay fair market value for items that are well out of production.

This place is awesome! They have a positively massive collection of movies, ranging from 4k to regular, and most books are priced well below 10 dollars. Recently they added a large collection of collectible items and used tech that is pretty affordable, at least at pawn or collector store prices. They've begun adding a larger selection of comics and graphic novels on the same floor as a nearly limitless selection of records and cds. If I had to say my favorite thing about this store that really puts it above any other used book/movie store, it's the used DVD bins that they keep in the center of the first floor. There, they have hundreds of movies spread out in large bins that you can look through, with most movies being under a dollar, even for blu rays. It's the collector's scavenger hunting dream, and I've been lucky enough to get blu ray copies of movies like Seven and Machete for literally a buck apiece. Mckays has become a literal pilgrimage for my friends and I, and when I go, I come back with a nearly 20 item haul all the time. Don't pass this place up!

Love visiting McKay's. We bring books, board games & video games here for trade-in credit. They're also a good spot for comics & music. The staff is always friendly. If you have stuff to trade in, they give you a slip of paper with a number on it that you can check on screens around the store to know when they're done assessing your stuff. You can leave and come back but I'm always browsing so not sure how that works. When your number shows up on the screen, you go back to the same window and they'll let you choose between trade-in credit or cashing out. If anything is too commonly donated or in too poor of shape to resell, they'll offer the choice of returning it to you or putting it in their free bin outside. I love exploring all the cool stuff they stock here and I will continue coming back as long as I'm in the area. Everything about this store is a delight and a pleasure.

Impressively large store that does a number of things well. It has a great variety of product types (books, DVDs, CDs, games, video games, toys, and musical instruments). Their buy back system is pretty efficient - on a busy day, it took about 1 hour to process while we browsed, and the offer was cash or in store credit, and I thought fairly generous. Their used history section has a heavy mix of old standbys, but limited in more recent releases. It's quite an experience to go, and an interesting place.

We had the best service ever tonight at McKay. We have been coming here for years, and absolutely love it. But tonight we got exceptional service. I wish I had asked the employee’s name. We had a very large load of books and other media to unload, and were confused about our options. This employee took his time and was super helpful helping us decide what to do, whether day order, overnight order, or drop off long-term. He got us a hand cart to help unload all the items from our car, and was patient with all our questions. Other than the employee, our experience shopping was great too. I actually found a book I’d been looking for for a long time! I was excited about that because it’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for at McKay. They have SO MUCH STUFF, and the inventory is ever-fluctuating. Which is a good thing, but McKay is not always the place to come for a specific book. It’s best to just browse the shelves and see what you can find. I feel like every time I come, things are rearranged, there’s a new shelf of something, and my favorite sections have moved. But I don’t mind. It’s like a treasure hunt!

Holy smokes! This place is huge, with an excellent selection. I could have spent a whole day in this store, but I arrived an hour before they closed, so I'll have to visit again soon. My only criticism is that the books Within each section don't seem to be organized very well. For instance, they have a huge quantity of books about knitting, but they are not subdivided into categories like patterns, techniques, etc. Maybe more popular topics are organized better, though. I'll find out next time!

McKay's is a great spot for mixed media, book hunting, and electronics from many eras. This particular visit to the store was quite remarkable because the power went out a few hours before closing while many patrons were shopping. The staff was incredible. With ease and calm they kept the store open for business, allowing shoppers to browse by phone light, and executing purchases via flashlight hand-writing tickets and bringing out the old-school carbon copy credit card readers as needed. Huge kudos to the store for holding it down for what was a memorable, excellent shopping experience at McKay's. Thank you!

Clean and well kept. Very easy to bring your stuff in for cash or store credit(like 75% more then cash) ...you drop your stuff as you come in, they give you a number as they take your stuff to assess it value. You can wait or go shopping up and down all the well organize aisle of book or music. When you stuff has been assessed you number is posted and you return to the counter to see what they will pay you or how much credit? If your not happy you have option to get your stuff back. Pretty easy peasy

McKay's was a great find when I moved to Nashville. The selection of just about everything you can imagine is off the charts. DVD's and Blu-Ray's as far as the eye can seen. Bins and bins of DVD's from as low as twenty-five cents. They buys, records, cd's dvd's, blu-ray's, puzzles, games, books, toys and more. They are pretty fair when it come to trade-in value. It is a great place if you are trying to fill in gaps in your collection of whatever it might be. You can even find open, used Pop figures for $5. Whether you are just passing through town, or a local, this place is worth the visit.

Great place to get or get rid of gently used books, comics, video games, electronics and much more! They also buy used stuff. The process for giving them items for evaluation and purchase is clearly explained and relatively painless. You have the option of a very fair amount of store credit or a reduced amount of cash. It does take a bit of time for them to evaluate your items but that's just extra time to browse the two floors of stuff for sale. There's camera equipment, computer components, musical instruments, toys, and so muxh more. The free bin out front is a great place for little gems if you want to do a little digging.

It was overwhelmingly crowded, which isn't the store's fault obviously, but the shelves are so close together it's hard to get through to the other side without going around. My biggest complaint is that they don't have a catalog to search or look through, so I may have totally missed what I was looking for if it had been put in a spot I didn't look. I definitely don't expect them to catalogue old books that they've had for years, but maybe for new arrivals. Organized decently enough on the main floor, books/comics/manga upstairs are a bit of a mess. Great place to find DVDs and board games at least.

For those of you not in the know, McKay's sells far more than used books. Movies, retro video games a s accessories, music production equipment and speakers, instruments...the breadth of stuff is staggering. This is easily my favorite place in the entire city of Nashville to shop in, only because you never know what you're going to find.

Have heard about yhis place, but took my 1st trip this week to McKay's! Lots of great deals in new & used videos, games, movies, electronics, board games, toys, collectibles, etc. And that was only from the spots in the store where I looked around. An amazing place...on a Sunday afternoon, the place was hummin' with lots of folks of all ages! For me, one downside was that there was only one place I found to sit in that huge store--a small bench to accommodate 2 or 3 average-sized people--while I waited for my daughter & grand-daughter to hunt for & purchase some affordable movies. So, I had to go sit in the car! EZ access from the highway. Would like to visit again before I fly home!

Some stuff is a little bit pricey for me but they have two huge bin's out front full of Free books!!! How awesome! Well what can I say about this place. I love it and I don't love it at the same time. I don't hate it bout. I guess it's a complicated feeling I have about it. What I hate about it is that they buy your stuff at such a low price that it feels like highway robbery, then they sell it at a price that is like 10 to 15 maybe 20 times higher than what they gave you for it. I guess that how the business goes. I love it because it has so many things that are hard to find. From movies to book to toys. For example. I'm a guy with a rock-n-roll heart and the guy that was checking us out to pay noticed that I was a classic rocker and asked me if I liked Led Zeppelin, I said yes and he showed me a box set of 16 CD"s but it's all in Japanese so I bought it without thinking about it. It's a great buy and I'm really thankful to the young man that told me about it. I do recommend it if you want to buy some cool and maybe rare things but if you want to sell your stuff do it only if you really need the money desperately. It does help for an emergency that you might find yourself in.

McKay's offers a variety of media at a variety of prices. Our children love to visit the store to pick out books by Richard Scarry, guides to fossils and dinosaurs, coffee table books on animals and tractors, my wife looks for fun project books, and I like to find old penguin classics, Torch books, and books from the Great books collections. McKay's often fills with people but the line moves fast to check out your items. The only quibble I can muster deals with pricing consistentcy. A few weeks ago I picked up a copy of Schopenhauer's selections for almost nothing and when I returned the exact same edition, in the same condition, was selling for more than 10 times the price. Since people seldom return books to me, I purchase multiple copies of some books that I lend out and this is where I've noticed the inconsistency the most. It's not really a big deal it's just a few dollars difference I just don't understand why. McKay's is nevertheless cheaper than Amazon in almost all cases. The leather bound copies of the great book series go for between 2 and 10 dollars each.

McKay is such an amazing store. There is a wide selection of anything media wise you could want. A huge library of books, movies, video games, cds, records, and music equipment. There is more than enough merchandise to satisfy your nerdy needs. I always look forward going to the store and end up spending hours at a time looking through everything. I especially enjoy their graphic novels and collectibles sections. Another plus is that they have many bargain and discount sections filled with quality pieces and the prices overall are really fair. Almost anything you could want you can find it at McKay's!

McKay's is a brilliant experience for those who may fit within its niche, though the store has something for everyone, resulting in a great visit no matter your interests and hobbies. McKay's is known firstly as a used bookstore, mainly due to its large collection of used books. Its inventory has vastly grown over the years, however, and now includes DVDs, music CDs, vinyls, smartphones, game systems & games, cameras, musical instruments, comics, manga, board games, and more. The first thing to understand is that all of McKay's inventory is used. Staff inspects every item to ensure books are legible and comfortable to read, board games have all pieces, any media is playable, electronic devices work as intended, musical instruments play and are not damaged, etc. Inventory is sold at a discounted value, oftentimes much cheaper than MSRP, which is wonderful for people that like to find values for cheap. Books can go anywhere from $0.05 to $20.00, electronics are usually hundreds of dollars cheaper than bought at retail value, instruments are sold fairly cheaper than at retail prices, etc. It's a great place if you have some money looking to burn a hole in your pocket, and you actually want to get some value for your money. As of this review, McKay's accepts all forms of media for sale. You can take most anything media-related to them and they will buy it for a reasonable amount. Keep in mind they are already selling products at a discount, and so all items you sell to them will be bought for even less than what you might expect. McKay's mitigates this by accepting much more volume for sale then you might expect. Each individual that sells to McKay's must have an ID to present to claim the credit or cash, and each individual can bring up to three totes worth of material (McKay's totes, not those big ones you can get at Walmart). You turn in your totes and receive a ticket with a number on it. In the meantime, staff will inspect each item to evaluate its condition, reject what they can't sell (in which case they can give these back to you if you'd like), and offer either cash or credit. Cash will be of lesser value, and in-store credit is of greater value. It's an obvious ploy to keep your business, but it works for the business model, keeping inventory circulating regularly. Odds are, you'll want the credit anyway, as you will most likely find something you'll want to buy. McKay's can be very busy and crowded, which speaks well of its business. Lines can be long, but in all my experiences, staff are efficient and friendly, and the multiple cashiers work through the lines quickly. It's quite a thing to have cashiers who are pleasant to work with while being quick at their job. It's like they enjoy their job or something. McKay's is a great place! You don't find many places like this anymore, but there are many reasons that point to this place staying around for a long time, and for very good reason.

Everything was labeled, and eye level. Easy to find. If you needed service just needed to ring the bell, the people we're very friendly and helpful. I got everything that I needed in this place and I will be returning again. Very affordable pricing. Love this place, just wish we had one in the Madison area, where I live at. McKay's is a wonderful slice of heaven on earth. Broad selection of anything your heart could desire, media wise. Books, DVDs, music, video games, collectibles. The staff are kind and efficient. Store is brightly lit. It could be a little cooler in the summer. Prices are so beyond reasonable. I got 8 seasons of various TV shows and about 20 books for $80. Many of my books were 75cents a piece, and the TV series seasons ranged from $3 to $8.

It's got video games, dvds, speakers, books, records, manga, comics, cards, I mean this list goes on!! A truly glorious second hand store for you to check out. I happen to work close to here and go at least once to twice a week to check out what's new. Their movie selection and prices are great as well as their selections on all types of games. If your new to Nashville and or you've never been here, do yourself a HUGE favor and go check this place out. You will not be disappointed at all.

Book heaven, retro game heaven, movie heaven, music heaven, media heaven. Am introvert’s paradise. 9 times outta 10 they got what you need. They’ll take your old stuff for a reasonable offer. I recommend going to the website and/or reading the signs when you go. Makes trading easier for you and for them (it’s not rocket science). Also don’t be that guy who trades in 200 old books and then buys 200 more. Kinda inconsiderate, albeit you’re well within your rights to do it. Just a wonderful place all and all.

Great store with lots of variety. Books and media of all types, toys, LEGO, board games, small electronics, musical instruments, video games from all decades, collectibles... something for everyone. Prices on used non-book items can be a little high but they expect you to have trade credit and if you bring in stuff and trade it in for credit you get more value than buying the used items outright. Works great for us as we rarely have to spend out of pocket for things we want.

If you love reading or retro video games this place is for you. You could spend entire days searching through all of their books which are priced reasonably for the most part. Every time I visit Nashville, I always make a stop.at McKay's and usually come out with several books, CD's, and the occasional film even though the used DVD's or Blurays are a bit overpriced. Everything else is usually very affordable. I have had a lot of luck getting inexpensive classical music (many in the 95 cent range). I can see why it's always incredibly busy. I look forward to my next visit because I know I'll find at least a few things to capture my interest. If I had a complaint, it would be that if you bring in any used books or CDs, be prepared to make practically nothing on them.

For buyers: Store is clean, organized and reasonably priced for most things. For sellers: Will offer you the absolute bottom dollar, worse than GameStop or Pawnshops. If staff see something you have that they want, they won't take it, then ask if you want it back. (They ask this question after every transaction) so that they can keep it for themselves. I personally witness this so don't let them tell you otherwise.

This place is heaven for books and music. The amount of mint vintage vinyl and cassette media was enough for me to travel from out of state multiple times to visit! Book selection is amazing, and there are some pretty cool board games, too! An excellent location to burn time or search for new topics of interest. If you're passing through Nashville, you've got to stop and check it out.

Wow! There is so much stuff! It is very clean and organized, though, with nicely spaced aisles. I mostly looked at the books, which have a location list at the end of every row. The list is pretty thorough. They have a huge selection of Christian books, plus about everything else! I saw prices from 50 cents up. Older and newer books. Free books in bins near the doors. Plan to spend some time, because there is a lot to see!

I love McKay's, but be sure to check prices elsewhere before paying too much for second-hand items you'll find here. Particularly if you love board games, while McKay's may have that rare find you're looking for, staples like Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride are priced ABOVE retail ($60/$50 respectively). You can find either game brand new for about $35, so I'm not sure why anyone would buy games here. Even super common games like Sorry are overpriced for being second hand ($12-16 for a used copy at McKays, but only $10 brand new at Target down the street). McKay's has great stuff, just be cautious about their pricing on some items.

The selection is unmatched in my experience. The pricing is more resale than used. Meaning that most things are reasonably priced more than they are cheap. It does seem like you could find most of what you are looking for unless you are looking for the very rare find. Even then, they do have some rare finds.

McKay's is an amazing, large bookstore in a beautiful part of Nashville Tennessee. They have a large variety of titles available for every taste. In addition, they sell lots of used odds and ends that have mass sppeal. Find camera lenses, gaming accessories, musical equipment, vinyl, tees, and lots more in the downstairs and upstairs areas. McKay's also buys these various types of items. The staff is always super friendly and easy to work with!
