A very cute and MUST VISIT bookstore if you are around. They have all kinds of books with a lovely seating area. I appreciate how they also have kids section for toddler, kids, and pre-teen readers. If you put more attention on their settings, you will find something hidden treasure and you will find out how thoughtful are they! I had fell in love with the store then I melted at the check out when I met the storekeeper who is also SUPER kind and welcoming!!

Staff were super fun, I went in to buy a book as a Christmas present on my break. They knew exactly where it was and grabbed it for me and then suggested the secret lives of colour to me after I said that I was an artist and I absolutely can not put it down. A lovely experience and I would highly recommend this book store!

Excelsior Bay Books is a small but cozy bookstore offers an intimate setting on a picturesque street in one of the best "historical" down-towns in the Twin Cities metro. It is a short walk to the lakefront, so I go there several times a year. It is a treat to pick up a book and then order an ice cream cone while enjoying the read. They create interesting book displays. Many are laid out on a table in an inviting manner. With is easy-to-browse format, it is less overwhelming than a block store book shop. We like its natural light which makes it easy to see to take in. Every ounce of floor space smartly adds to its great selection of books, puzzles, guides, toys, stuffed animals, art, cards, and fun gift items. The ladies working here know the books both in stock and available by order. They sure know a good book and are eager to help shoppers locate whatever they have in mind. It offers a nice selection of classics; parents can be confident they are buying a good read that will build up their children. Gift wrap is also available. The choices were as delightful as the books. The young lady who was the recipient of my gift of books was delighted with the fun hedgehogs and ribbon that presented them. If you get a chance, attend the annual LITERATURE LOVERS' LUNCHEON in November. It features multiple authors on their national and local book tours. This local independent bookstore is a true Excelsior MN gem! Their hours of operation are convenient, and all of the staff is nice. Yes, it is a pleasure to shop here!

I always try and visit local bookstores during my travels, and this one is a gem. Not only a great selection of treasures but the couple who were at the counter working (they might be the owners) were just so kind and friendly. They also pointed out their adorable poodle sleeping underneath the table. If you're in town or anywhere within an hours drive, definitely stop by.

This is my go to for Minnesota books and unique titles. Owners are local and super sweet. Ordering special titles like “Weird Minnesota” and “Boathouses of Lake Minnetonka” were easy and in stock or ordered quick. They are nicely located downtown Excelsior close to Excelsior Commons and Marina. This is a great destination for a girl’s shopping day out.

Very friendly and inviting from the moment we walked in. Very good prices for a smaller book store as well. Fiction, non-fiction and history had a broad selection as well as a good size children/young adult section. I would have liked a larger sci-fi/fantasy selection but that's mostly because it is my favorite genre. All in all it was a great experience at a great little store.

They are our go to book store! A great family owned business and are dog friendly. They have phenomenal service and great selection of books. Any books that they do not have in stock they have been able to order and get in fast. Including those ordered from their website. All of the books that they have recommended and been excellent. I cannot say enough on how happy we are to be their customers.

They have a great staff, a sweet poodle named Nell, and a wonderful atmosphere! They didn't have the books we were looking for, but assured us they could be ordered quickly and had some recommendations for us! We walked out satisfied customers!

Delightful small bookstore. It has a quaint children's section with good variety. The section on local authors/topics is fun. The staff (which I assumed were the owners) were wonderfully kind, and introduced their standard poodle to my children.

I've placed several online orders with this bookstore over the last few months of lockdown. They ship fast and pick-up is easy. It's a great store to browse for books, games, and toys for the kids (love the animal puppets!). This is a wonderful resource for the Lake Minnetonka community. For used books, I recommend abebooks.com which will connect you to independent booksellers around the world. Now more than ever, I want to support independent businesses -- particularly wonderful ones like Excelsior Bay Books.

This is such a quaint, accessible book store that is a must visit when in Excelsior! They have great staff, a dog named Nell and wonderful atmosphere. They are very accommodating with your needs in what books you are looking into. They will order and recommend:) Love this place.

This is why you need to shop small and support local businesses...I ordered a book from them and was going to have it shipped to my house. I got a call from them saying they could deliver it to my house at no cost to me and refund the shipping cost. No big box retailer will ever hand deliver your books and do it with a friendly smile! I didn't purchase any books, but I witnessed the staff of Exelsior Bay Books as they interacted with other customers. They were very friendly and helpful and had recommendations for customers. They were even friendly to a noisy group of young adults (my friends and I) who didn't purchased anything.

So happy Excelsior Bay Books is a part of the Excelsior community; it's nice to have a quaint bookstore in the neighborhood. Since I am now teaching my first grade daughter for the remainder of the school year I've ordered books for curbside pickup, seamless.

I just love this very, very nice little bookstore by the Lake. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. A good selection of local and Excelsior/Minnetonka focused books. If they don't have it they'll get it in a couple of days.
