This bookstore is a truly welcome addition to the literature space as they create an opportunity to seek out new voices and perspectives that you might not find browsing the shelves of other bookstores. Much love to this local gem! I always appreciate the opportunity to support a local business, and it's made even easier through the opportunity to support an inspiring mission!
Kristen RascherBlack Garnet books has a fantastic selection of books in a great variety of genres! My friend and I looked through the entire store and saw some old favorites and a lot of new-to-us books that we’re excited to check out. There’s something for everyone here - I’ll definitely be back the next time I want to add a book to my shelf! The staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The store also has a great atmosphere - it’s open, bright, and modern, and they have a super friendly bookstore dog and some cozy seating!!

This was my first visit but definitely won’t be my last! I had book envy while seeing what others were buying and already know what books I want next.
Alexia TaylorIncredible, immaculate, and absolutely wonderful. I love the space they've curated and how welcoming it is. I never realized how badly I needed representation from authors of color until I stepped into this space and saw people that looked like me on multiple book covers all around the store, not just in a section labeled "black stories". This is exactly what Minnesota needs.
Isaura Lira GreeneI love their taste in books. A great collection of not only Black authors but other authors of color as well. They also have books related to queer/LGBTQIA intersectional identities. The color palette of the store is black, and gray, which gave me an aura of sincerity and futurism which seemed appropriate. I loved playing with one of the owners dog. She is kind to the customers and good at playing fetch if you want to play with her. She really lights up the space.
The shop owners are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. I wasn’t deterred in asking them any questions if I had any. I look forward to seeing author hosted events and activities to help the business reach out to the community.

Megan AmosGot to visit the brick and mortar store and loved every second of my visit! The store and space is thoughtfully laid out, and the selection of books and accoutrements (candles, bookmarks, stickers, etc) is vast in genre and authors. Highly recommend visiting.
