This place is great. Large variety of games and very good prices. Of it isn't in the store, they can get it extremely fast from their warehouse. Plus you are supporting a small local owned business. The store is clean and we'll organized. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. They play all the game they sell so that they can give you real personal experiences and reviews. They have family friends games as well as competitive games and coop games for all ages. There is always people playing some type of game here. They always welcome everyone to join in the fun. Highly recommend coming here for all of your gaming needs.

Great place to find comics. I brought my 13 and 7 yr old into the store to find them some new reading material. Nathan was behind the counter and was so great in helping my 7 yr old pick out something. Was the first comic book store I ever went to. Every time I come here (primarily for mtg) I leave happily with the experience I had. The staff and the owner George are fantastic people and very helpful and friendly. Overall I can't speak highly enough about Empire Comics! They also carry board games if interested!

They have a fantastic selection of TTRPG's and their associated products, comics, Magic cards, and their board game offerings are second to none. Most importantly, they foster a sense of community. Shop their a few times and they recognize your face, remember what you're usually looking for, and even help make recommendations regarding new products that have come in. New to gaming? In a small nook next to macs hideaway, not handicap friendly, cozy environment however which is usually packed with people. Hours 1 to 7 only, also have players and tables. Cards are hit or miss if they will have it or not, sells mtg, pokemon, comics, mangas, dnd, board games, mini figures, & anime. All the employees are nice tho, also has bathroom restrictions.

In the past I have not had great experiences at Empire, however this time was completely different. The people behind the counter were friendly and willing to discuss products. They were willing to let us look at anything we wanted to see. We enjoy playing MTG as well as several other board games. I am still not sure I felt welcome enough to join in any tournaments they host or play any games there but I will be shopping here a little more frequently and who knows continued good experiences may change my mind. Pricing is pretty average dice sets are a little high but you can get a little bit of a discount on cards by buying whole boxes. All in all this time around not a bad experience and I look forward to more opportunities to improve my opinion of this local small business.

These guys are great we just started getting Into magic and they help us with all our questions and even let us play there so they could help when we got stuck. The staff is super friendly and it is a welcoming environment. Will definitely be making all my future mtg purchases from them.

Without a doubt my favourite nerd shops of all time. The owner, George, is one of the nicest and most down to earth people you could ask for. Kat and the other employees are insanely nice and helpful. And for what it's worth, most of the employees have been there for what feels like forever. Imagine how great of a boss someone has to be to keep employees in a comic shop for years on end. Not only that, George goes out of his way to recognize the efforts all his employees give. That's just the atmosphere. Product wise, they have a massive warehouse in another location that feeds the online half of the store, so they may not always have what you're looking for in the store front, but if you give them a day or two, they will absolutely pull anything and everything you could want from the warehouse and have it in the store for you. Price is fairly cheap more often than not. And if it's not on the cheap side, it's going to be average cost at most. There's always some sort of small crowd playing something, even George will jump in and play some games from time to time.

Despite the small size of the space, there's an amazing amount of space. I'm not a big comics guy, but they have a nice selection there. What was really impressive is the games selection and the discount on a lot of their stuff. They have a lot of demos available so you can try before you buy. The best part is the friendly staff. Everyone I talked to either knew what they were talking about or who to yell for if they didn't. They made everyone walking in through the door feel welcomed and didn't look down on them for what they were after.

A great place to shop for comics, games, cards...almost anything nerdy. Prices are great, but it is the family atmosphere that brings me back again and again. This shop really is the Cheers of New Albany. It is not a great place to find douches, though if you asked their friendly, knowledgeable staff where is the best place to find them they would have lots of suggestions to offer. They are helpful like that.

Always great staff, me and my friends shop here whenever we have some tabletop need. We've been coming here since high school and now that I've got a job in IT I plan on spending a lot more time and money here. Just recently went in and bought like 4 books for D&D 5e and the pricing was great, basically got one for free! Also bought my cousin a really great magic deck after getting some suggestions (he finally beat his brother). Just a generally great place to hang around at with great staff and fun games on display.

I drive 30 minutes just to go to this store. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a large selection of board games and if they don't have it in stock they can order any game and have it for pickup the following day. They have the best prices for any local game store I have ever seen. I will be buying all of my board games from here from now on. 2 thumbs up!!!! Highly recommend it.

The owner is one of the friendliest people I know. He doesn't run this shop to make a profit like other comic book shops (he has his website for that.) Instead he runs it so that he can share the things he loves with people. Generally everything in this place is always on discount, usually 20% off. Making it by far the most inexpensive place to feed your hobbies and interests. It has a great selection and always has people ready and willing to play any of the numerous boardgames. Usually the owner himself is playing along. Friendly helpful staff, and comfortable environment.

Best part about this comic shop is the holds program and the friendly shop employees. They are extremely flexible and easy to work with for holding comics or special ordering pretty much anything (i.e. books, toys, collectibles, pop culture items, etc), so I keep coming back. The shop is a little small and could use some updates, but the locals who frequent the shop don't seem to mind. They keep things very community-focused with ongoing game events. The owner is very friendly and supportive of those who frequent the shop. It's a cool place!

I have been going to Empire at least once a month for the last year and a half. It's always fun. I think the prices for all the games we get are reasonable (have rarely found better and if so has always been by less than a dollar or so), and there is usually someone around to play games. If they don't have the game they can usually get it fairly quickly (provided it's not related to a publishing issue). George and the staff are make it great.

The owner is an amazing guy who gets to know his customers and actually remembers names and faces. I haven't been here in a while, but I spent many years going here. The owner, George, is a great guy and will help you find or order any comic you could possibly want. He runs great sales, and there seems to always be card tournaments or various TCG pickup games going on. A lot of the people have known each other for many years, so it can be intimidating for a newcomer. It is worth it to stay and get to know them and make friends though.

Empire is a great place to get any sort of board game you're looking for. If they don't have it, they can usually get it in quickly. I began going to Empire in the 90's back when Magic The Gathering came on the scene in full force. The owner has been extremely successful at keeping up with the gaming industry trends and his customers needs the entire time. He has a loyal customer base of all variety of comic and gamer geeks (myself included) who he treats almost like family. The store has a staff of hand picked, skilled younger folks who's knowledge seems to surpass their years in most cases. You can tell one thing about everyone who works at Empire: this is not just a job, it is their passion. I've moved to Louisville since I first started going to this shop, but even now with the bridge toll, the selection, service, and prices make it very much worth the trip.

This is easily the most fun and friendly comic shop in the area. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. Pricing is fair and a little haggling is even encouraged. Empire Comics offers regularly scheduled gaming events and has plenty of room set up for anyone to play ANYTHING ANYTIME. The customers and staff treat each other with respect and go out of their way to make new customers feel at home, like old friends the first time (and every time) they come through the door. Empire Comics offers a variety of comics and games in almost every genre and if you don't find what you're looking for the staff is happy to help and will go as far as finding and special ordering it for you. This is one of New Albany's Easter eggs that every comic or gaming enthusiast should take the time to see for themselves.

Words don't really express the amazingness behind this place. Everything from the inventory to the owner is 100% genuine. I don't get to stop by as much as I'd like but when I do I never feel like it was anything less than great. Everyone there is super helpful and are always looking for way to lighten the guests days. You're not going to find a better nerd shop anywhere else and why? The passion. Everyone who steps into empire has a huge passion and I have seen very few shop owners that could match George's enthusiasm and love for the very things he sells. A wonderful place to visit wether you need a comic or a friend.

This place is awesome, with amazing ownership and an incredible and supportive community. Like many successful businesses and things that people enjoy, there may be a few random trolls posting the odd review, but anyone with sense will realize that Empire Comics is the best.

My favorite local comic book store always coming through with what I need! Today it was a "xanthars guide to everything" book for dnd5e. I got their last copy which a friendly store associate gladly tracked down for me in less than 30 seconds all the while saying I hope I don't have to give you bad news then boom she says "here it's the last one we have"! Great service from entire staff every time I visit!

It's okay, I was expecting more organized place. I asked for sea serpents cards for Magic and was handed a binder full of "forest" cards witch wouldn't have a single one. The gentleman working didn't pay much attention to us after that. The female working register had to help us out with different cards. They seem to have little of everything. If you want to sell cards I'd look elsewhere tho.

I'm going to give this five stars, as far as mom-n-pop shops go along the lines of comic books. The space is cramped and the architecture hodge-podge as they expanded into spaces where other businesses left. But it makes it Homey. Its loaded with games, cerebral games (fun, dark, strategy), and tons of Magic cards among the various other card games. Good selection of comics, light on the collectables. This is a GAMER shop, most definitely. Staff is friendly and helpful. If they don't have it, they can order it.

They have a diverse selection of comics, memorabilia, and gaming supplies backed with an supremely knowledgeable staff that can help guide someone completely new to the gaming/comics culture into having a very enriching and positive expieience, or help the most die-hard enthusiest discover hidden gems and lesser known works to further deepen their knowledge and passion for gaming and comics. Pricing is good and the environment is comfortable and approachable, without pressure into upselling the customer. Moreso than simply having excellent staff and excellent product, this shop is a hub for the community. Welcoming all fans of gaming and comics culture and creating a place for discussion and enjoyment of the mediums as a whole. I personally apent a vast majority of my teen and early twenties here growing my love for gaming, strengthening my lacking social skills, and having a place where I felt welcomed and accepted. They offer play space and advice for many of the popular card and tabletop games, as well as help players find others who enjoy the gaming hobbies make connections with others. Thank you George for the fun and fantastic memories, the life lessons, and having a space where a pudgy akward teen can feel safe to unleash the depths of their nerdy fandoms with others as well as unite us all together. This store is one of a kind, and in an increasingly digital world it is a real world Oasis of fellowship and engagement. I learned several games (mage knight, shadowfist, marvel versus, MtG, heroclix) with each one bringing new and more positive expieiences along with it. The local events, drafts and tpurnaments are plentiful, and are made very enjoyable to all levels of skill. I digress though, thank you for showing this scrape faced teen what acceptance, comraderie, and community look like, as well as providing a safe and welcoming space to enjoy those things in.

Fun and personable atmosphere. You feel like your walking into a friend's house if your friend was a comic/dnd/board game/all things nerd fanatic. I've come here for years. As a Tabletop gamer it has helped me stay caught up with now products. George and Katt are great and always friendly. They focus on comics and board games of all kinds, and George runs one of the biggest card buying websites in the country. They are quite active on Facebook as a key to their success.
