This is a pretty average comic book store as of lately because a lot of them have become commercialized…. When I walked in someone did say hello but then continue talking to their coworker as I walked in and didn’t even really know where to go to start looking for stuff…. Thankfully I’m pretty familiar with coma bookstores and know what to look for but no help was offered at all with no inquiring of what I might be there for….. friendly enough staff but probably needs to work on customer service a little bit with interaction with them other than when someone walks in because once I did get to the register they did seem pretty talkative and helpful…. Because from my accent it can be very apparent that I was from out of town and I would gladly come back if there was staff day or two be more helpful in trying to ask me what I’m interested in….. and we do have a few friends in the area eventually we plan on seeing again but don’t quite know if I’ll be back here….. Plus if I’m being honest the dollar bin section really was not great… I get trying to hold back certain books because some back issues are more valuable or more sought-after but those dollar been issues were primarily books that nobody’s heard of

I have been a customer here since 2009. You can not find a better comic book store in my opinion. They know me by name and are always willing to order me things of they don't have them. They have games on the weekends and the staff and owners are the friendliest folks you'll meet. And it's really nice that they don't make anyone regardless of gender or experince in comics or games uncomfortable.

The owner is a very nice gentleman who is very knowledgeable about all things comics. The store has a great selection of old and new comics, action figures, pops, board games, Heroclix and other cool geeky collectibles. I have a couple of pull lists with them and they are always good about letting you know when your comics come in. I definitely recommend this store if your looking for a comic place to frequent.

The staff here is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the selection of items (TPBs, new comics, back issues, toys and games) is vast, pricing is fantastic, and the atmosphere is relaxed, colorful and fun. This is one of the best comic shop I’ve ever used. I think Comics Carnival is one of the oldest comic retailers in the entire Midwest and it shows. The staff behind the counter have great recommendations. They don’t just sell comics, cards, games, posters, toys, and all other SEO friendly words, they provide a shop that can sever an entrenched Grant Morrison fanatic while also being somewhere that’s great for a kids first trip to a comic shop.

This comic store is a rare one, in terms of accessibility. The aisles are wide enough for canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Although they have high shelves, they are happy to help get you anything you want to see. As for stock, they have all the current goodies and will order anything else. Enjoy!

Has the most diversity of publication dates that I have seen in central Indiana so far. Plus, tons of fun to overhear the nerdy conversation while digging through massive boxes of single chapter comics. (They have full books too though :) ) Update: still slaps and I found Saga #55 ♥️

Great Comic Book store with a good supply of toys, statues, Pops, and of course comic books! On the day we visited they were running an extremely good sale! Very helpful and friendly staff! If you are a superhero, sci-fi, or comic fan make Comic Carnival a must stop!!!

Aesthetically it's one of the best comic shops you will see. Like back issues? They have TONS Like friendly and educated staff? They have the best. Love new issues? They have 3 walls full of them (and probably more) Without a doubt a 5 star shop. I would even consider this a tourist attraction if you're a comic enthusiast.

Pretty good store. Lots of reasonably priced back issues and magazines. The only reason I take off one star is that they had all of their high-priced books in boxes behind the counter and I couldn't just peruse through them to see if anything might be an interest, I had to ask for specific items that the staff would then look for. To be fair, I didn't ask if I could look through the boxes only because I was under the impression that was not allowed. As a Comic collector though I want to be able to browse through things I might not know I want until I see it. EDIT: I changed to 5 stars, as they responded and said customers are welcome to look through the boxes behind the counter, if they ask. My fault for not asking!

This shop is AMAZING. I’ve been looking for the Loki Agents of Asgard’s forever. They had ALL 3 of the collections for their original price. The only places I could find them we’re on eBay for over a $100. They also had an extensive collection of singles and the employees were wonderfully helpful, very pleasant and knew what they were doing. New or old they had it. I could easily spend over $500 there if I had it. XD The overall feel of the shop was amazing, it’s decorating was equally so. Best comic shop I’ve ever visited by far. Would certainly recommend to anyone and everyone comic book fan or not. This is a stop you have GOT to make.

For the size, this place has a good mixture of gaming products. Its main focus is comics obviously. Its always stocked with new products. The staff is very helpful and family friendly. I would recommend this store. The location is perfectly snug between downtown and Carmel.

Comic Carnival is fantastic. I've always avoided comics because it seems very daunting to dive in on your own, but the people here have helped me find a good place to start into the Marvel Universe and help me find some comics that really define the characters like Captain Marvel. I'm now getting multiple comics pulled and I'm very happy with their prices, service, and attitudes. I will be only be sad that I have to find a new comic store in a few months as I move states. Been going for 30yrs It has the best selection of back issues in the City! Love the New store just 4-5 doors down from the the old store location! The New store is BIGGER Lots of Space ! I almost never do reviews, but I feel like this place is so outstanding I need to say something about it. I’ve been to dozens of comic book stores across the Midwest: Chicago, Indianapolis, and many places in between. But Comic Carnival is by far the best. Their prices are shockingly good, even better than most cons, and they have a wide variety of comics in stock as well as new titles. As a younger collector strapped for cash this is huge for me, many series I found daunting to collect have been made easy through comics carnival. But the price isn’t the only great factor. The two times I’ve been there, the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable, as well as just being genuinely nice people. If you’re a comic fan and youre in Indy, do yourself a favor and shop at Comic Carnival.

I am from Gary, Indiana and I came down this way so my wife could go to a bridal shower. I was not allowed there so I googled local comic shops. This place is one of the better places I went to. The younger guy at the counter was very nice and helpful. The place has a good selection of back issues. Highly recommend this place.

I love this place. They're doing some great stuff in the community and for the people in it. They host game sessions, allow local artists to set up tables to help promote their works, and they also host a podcast which they allow local creatives to advertise and promote on as well. The comic selection is usually awesome too.

This nice little comic store recently moved into this new space that is bigger and works better. They have all kinds of comic books and toys and are happy to order things for you. As you would expect from a good comic book store they are knowledgeable and friendly.

Cathair Apocalypse

Huge store with a great selection of vintage and new titles, mainstream and indies. The gaming tables are open till 8/9 most nights and the staff creates an awesome atmosphere you can spend hours here. Affordable prices. And YES they have Cathair Apocalypse!

Pros: Huge selection of backstock and graphic novels. Love interacting with the young guy, he always seems happy and excited by his job, super knowledgeable and is great at suggesting titles you might be interested in. You really get the personal, small-town comic store feel here. They also have a huge selection of Munchkin, which is fantastic. Cons: I really dislike dealing with the older lady. I always feel like a huge inconvenience to her, no matter how polite I try to be. Recent backstock (aka like 5 issues ago) is always marked up. A 6mo $2.99 issue is $4.50 here and is $1 at Downtown. Don't understand that.

Comic Carnival is not just a store., it's almost communal. I've been buying their comics for 30 years and I have built a pretty decent collection. The staff is fun and I enjoy seeing Rick still there after all these years. The back issue inventory is un matched. You can find just about everything you want want. Back issues worth less than $10 are on the floor, and the primo silver age collectible issues are behind the counter. It is a special place.

Found them with a Google Search while I was in Indy about a year ago. They do have a very healthy amount of back issues. I'd say majority is late bronze to current. There was some gold and silver that probably no one wants (LOL) which is why they're still there because most of the sought out books are on the wall or gone. A lot of books IMHO would probably be (or should be) in a 25c to $1 bin (and they still wouldn't get purchased) in other shops....maybe they do that on FCBD....Overall, this is a COMIC shop. They got rows and rows and walls of books. They probably carry every monthly comic published. Staff super friendly. Very nice. The shop attendant was very kind when somebody came in to sell one long box of comics that they did not have interest in purchasing. I was actually impressed how kind and professional they were in educating this lady clearly selling someone else's collectiong(LOL) maybe her sons (or exboyfriend!!! LOL) Overall a nice LCS.

We stop by here anytime we visit the Walmart nearby. Staff here are some of the most informative and friendly folks I've ever met. Great selection of comics. They're supportive of several local publications. Board game selection is small, but sometimes they get in older games that you can't find anywhere else. Back issue bins are awesome and so much fun to riffle though for something you love for cheap. Always have a little clearance table, and if you get lucky, something you love will be there at a discount.
