Reviews of Ed's Editions Bookstore (ABAA/ILAB, ABA)
Aodhán Mac Raighailligh
This place is great for language materials, as I've found German, Hebrew, Old English and Icelandic materials. The staff is courteous and the selection is broad. One of the best book stores out there for history books as well.
Bridgette Walker
My first visit won't be my last. The experience here was personalized and appreciated. A great variety of books were on display and the folk working there were extremely knowledgeable. It's an especially great resource for things written about South Carolina.
Jennifer Bjorn-Muellner
Fun little used bookstore with really pleasant and knowledgeable folks working there. My teenager always finds great things and loves going there to hunt for treasures. There are some collector copies of books, but I am not knowledgeable enough on that topic to speak to their value. They look beautiful.

This is one of my favorite bookstores in the area by far. They have an insane collection of old, new, common, and rare books. They have plenty of shelves to get lost in, and plenty of genres to choose from. It’s impossible to leave here without a good find. They have an impressive amount of academic books as well so students might be able to find books required for class at discounted prices. The building they are in also gives the store a nice cozy atmosphere although the parking lot is pretty small and on an awkward corner. The employees are always very warm and welcoming and harbor adequate knowledge on books and their inventory. I wouldn’t say there is a great kids section based on other bookstores but they still have some good picks for young readers.

I cannot say enough how much I love this bookstore. Such a wonderful place. Everything about it is exactly what a real bookstore should be. It smells right, it looks right, it's just a little cramped like it should be. The selection here is amazing. I found several books by Theodore Roosevelt, a couple by Horace Kephart, all in amazing condition and for reasonable prices.
I come to this store every chance I get. It has quickly become one of my go to spots in Columbia. If you like books, or just need to find an older hard to find book, you owe it to yourself to try Ed's Editions.
Aaron Cade Warren
Wonderful store. I have bought many items here over the years, and also sold some items to them as well. I have never been to a book store that is more scrupulously fair in buy-back prices than Ed's; they are simply the best. Their collection is wonderful, you can get lost in their store for hours. They will go out of their way to help you if you are looking for a book, even one they don't have. I love the place and cannot recommend them enough. Keep Ed's Editions in business, they are wonderful and a local institution!
Phillip Stewart
Great selection and service! Prices are good.
Melissa Lovelady
Eric is awesome. Deals are awesome. Home away from home!
Aaron Miller
Great selection of interesting books.
Karen Copper
This is that rare used book store that has its books arranged in a usable order, and which also has them listed in a database for easier searching. It is a must - see mission every time we visit. It is just big enough to offer a great selection, but small enough to be cozy and comfortable, and to not wear the shoppers or their wallets out!

Just received my wonderful mystery book early. Thanks so much. In great condition, and wrapped with much care. I look forward to doing more business with you.
Mary Wilson
My friend lost a book after her friend (who borrowed it) died. It was part of an expensive set and most places would not help us find a way to replace just the one book. These people have a big heart and went above and beyond what was expected. Now we can give an incredibly special Christmas present we didn’t think could happen.
Kim Lyles
This is a complete jewel I could spend hours just looking at all the books. Very extensive of all kinds and I'm pretty sure they will help you find what your looking for. Very nice people
Benton
This is a great place for finding older editons of books, or for happening upon books previously unknown to oneself. The owners are quite friendly and know their stock. My only wish would be that they would be open in the evenings and Sundays. Their short (and sometimes uncertain) hours have prevented many visits over the years.
Fred Davis
I know this store very, very well. It's an especially nice used bookstore with a wonderful selection of fiction and nonfiction, contemporary, collectible, and antiquarian. Owner is a honest-to-God expert bookman. Totally trustworthy, completely competent.
Pete Phifer
Wonderful store for nearly any book. Great people, and atmosphere. I can’t rate them high enough, 5 stars isn’t enough.
Matt Wormington
This is possibly one of the greatest bookstores in America, based on price, selection, and staff. Everyone that works there is amiable and kind, and they recognize me whenever I come up. The prices are very fair and they have both a 5-dollar shelf and a free book shelf, which surprisingly isn't full of unsellable nonsense (e.g. I found an 1888 copy of an oliver wendell holmes book for free). There are thousands of books, stacks taller than any human everywhere one looks. Their first friday sale is great. Highly, highly recommended.
Forestry First
This is easily the best bookstore in the midlands, new or used. I visited a retail chain store last night and was horrified to see they no longer carry any of the classic roman or greek authors such as Livy, even in the small Penguin Classics softbacks. They have of course entire racks filled with trash, such as Vixen Diaries and other regrettable works. The classics though you will now have to order. I love rare books and this place has plenty of rare and out of print volumes at reasonable prices. Many of the other shops I have been in have indefensible prices on some of their used hardcover books (perhaps they imagine them to be the last remaining copy). Ed has thousands of books and continually receives more. I always find new volumes. By far the best used book store in South Carolina.
Third Grade Teacher
Current books are limited, kids section is limited and picture books are in boxes to sort through, many collectibles and uncommon titles in other genres, prices are higher than I'd typically pay, staff is friendly, nice atmosphere with a sweet cat mascot
Austin Semmel
Was able to find just what I had been looking for...a signed copy of Vonnegut’s Breakfast of Champions or Cat’s Cradle. They had the former so I walked out with it. Very nice people. Worth your time to drop by!
Robert
I always love going to this classic, local bookstore. Ed is super nice as well as the staff that works there. You'll definitely find some unique items at this place.
Ryan Campbell
Great book store!!! Extremely friendly and informative staff as well. Will definitely be going back soon.
Tyler Watson
This is a great bookstore with loads of old, new, and collectable books. The store is laid out well and the sections are easy to find on your own. They do buy books but they are very picky about what they buy.
Real Qtii
2nd best (not new) book store around (here) WAS run by Mike Rowe's brother. (Don't know where he (Philip) went) Anyway, Ed's is the best. Has been for years (i just found out he's on the web (now you know why i shop for 'old' books - ha ha...). He has always 'worked' with me to insure my satisfaction.
Trudy Crawford
Definitely worth visiting if you love books. They have several old books, very friendly staff (including a black cat).
Nancy Campbell - The Grace Under Pressure
Our children grew up spending hours in this sweet shop, and as adults still stop by whenever they are in town. Delightful!
abdul omer
One of the best book stores in Columbia, they have an exceptional selection of books to maps. The staff are always kind and respectful anytime I'm there.
Amber Goff
Ed's is great. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. These are used books, so you can feel good about that. They also have lots of unique and older things.
Kim Yost
Love love love this place! Folks are friendly and they have some really neat old books as well as newer selections.
Alexis Johnston
Its such a fun place to visit for book lovers, I love looking at all the older books they have. It's quiet, and homey.
Traci Hatch
Such a beautiful used books store. Books of all types. Kind staff, and friendly store cat. We found a couple of treasures. We will be back.
Noname Noname
The store has a bunch of genres to peruse. There are a ton of old books, first editions, pulpy schlock, etc. Top selling point for me, they have a store cat!!!
Marguerite Sterling
Great selection, peaceful atmosphere, nice people. Quick decisions on whether they will buy your books or not. Thanks!
Ruby Scoggin
A source of exciting books, unique books, collector magazines, great novels and much more. When is the last time you've gotten lost in reading a book. It's wonderful.
James Hill
One of the last used book stores on earth. Friendly and helpful shopkeepers.
Shields “Scott” Varney
Decent book shop, dont try selling to them unless you got text books. Owner never seems to give a darn unless you got something priceless from antiquity. Should try using better people skills if you ask me
Cooper Lucas
Item arrived in a timely fashion and as described. Were willing to work with me and will be searching their catalog for a future purchase
Patrick Carroll
Really wonderful shop. Bibliophile's dream.

this nook is 100% worth the visit-the prices were unbelievable on everything from new editions to old, weathered, but well-kept collector's items.
Ray Cheadle
Small store but a wide variety. Picked up a Stephen King novel for half the cover price.
Susannah Simpson
This is the best bookstore in Columbia, and probably the state. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a great selection of books of all kinds.
