I always enjoy going to Barnes and Noble! It has an excellent selection with books, games, puzzles, toys, planners, DVDs, cards, etc. There's something for everyone. There's a Harry Potter section and a discount section. There's even a cafe, although I haven't been to that. It's a very fun place to shop!

Changed my rating from 5 stars to 4. Barnes & Noble no longer accepts checks. I don't carry cash and don't like using a credit card. A vendor no longer has to wait for a check to clear - most debit your account immediately and even give you back your canceled check. I complained to a manager and he said just what you'd expect - it was a corporate decision. I'm sure there are fees to the vendor for the service; but assume there are also fees to process credit card transaction. Very disappointed in Barnes & Noble.....

Great selection and friendly staff. Great selection of books! Kids section is well stocked and maintained. Healthy selection of graphic novels and the audio/video section is nice too. Couple all of these with a nice Starbucks coffee store I the middle of B&N and you really can't go wrong. If possible, be certain to become a rewards member, it gives you access to enhanced coupon offerings on a regular basis.

This place is one of the best bookstores I've ever been to! It's always quiet and cozy with a really friendly atmosphere. There's even a coffee shop in the center of the stores to top of your books! They have more than just books. There's plushies, Pokemon and Magic cards, bookmarks, LEGO sets, and so much more!! The staff are always willing to help and the kids' area is so cute! Being my first time in a Barnes and Noble, I was blown away by how great of a store this is. Definitely one of the best and most relaxing places in the Boise area!!

They have so many manga selection and board games to choose from! It reminds me of the Barnes & Nobles located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This location also had 2 floors so there was so many books to explore and find. There was a fairly good amount of areas to sit down and read books other than sitting at the Cafe.

Probably my favorite store to waste an afternoon in. Always worth stopping in to see what's new, trending, or to just recluse to the aisle that suites your interest and skim aimlessly through all the books you're probably not going to buy. With my attention span and frivolous spending, it can be dangerous to peruse up and down the abundant genres that fill the store as my Amazon cart gets more and more expensive the longer I stay. I do buy at least one physical copy of a book I would like when I go there because I would hate to see the brick and mortar stores be a thing of the past just because you can save a few bucks on Amazon if you're patient enough to wait the 24 hours before it's dropped on your doorstep. I don't know, just something about the abundant selection of books, magazines, and other miscellaneous things they sell that makes me want to keep coming back to investigate their inventory.

Great place to come and find whatever book you're looking for on any category! The staff is very friendly and very helpful in directing you to what you would like. They even work with you to order books if they don't have it. Definitely coming back.

Huge selection of books! I love this place for doing homework and reading. The Starbucks employees are great and make the best drinks out of any other Starbucks. I do want to be able to use the 'find a book' computer without getting a membership though. Owner who may or may not be reading this: you need to make the books more accessible. No one likes it when you can't find a book and the employees don't know were it is.

I always bide my time and wait for a membership coupon to come in. When I use the coupon plus my membership discount, the book almost always ends up being cheaper than on Amazon, which is a really good deal! If I don't have a coupon, I like to come here to browse and add interesting books to my wishlist while getting some walking in for my health. I often come here for that purpose after eating out with my family. B&N carries my favorite sketchbooks, too (ring-bound; hardcover; smooth, white paper; perforated pages) so that's another reason I come here. I also love their cafe; they serve Starbucks coffee but their food options are WAY more delicious than at an actual Starbucks. There are a few negatives to the store. For one, the books aren't organized particularly well so it can get confusing trying to find the type of books you're interested in or even a particular book once you find the general area it ought to be in. They also don't stock a wide variety of certain categories of books nor bring in new ones very often. For instance, I'm always looking at the Japanese language learning section, but they only ever have the same introductory level options. Even when I buy one of the books, it just gets restocked with the same book without bringing in higher-level or similar-but-different books that I might want to buy now that I have the basic one. Overall, this is my favorite bookstore because it's close to home, offers good coupons from time to time, and is big enough to get a little light exercise in while browsing. Their yummy cafe options also don't hurt my opinion of them!

They have such a variety of book it's the one stop shop for it all. I also picked up some vinyl records and can't wait to put them to use! Would recommend checking it out but if you have no self control like me you might just end up walking out with the whole store! I wish they had like a bag or something I could use to carry all my books around because by the end I had to much in my hands I couldn't keep looking at more. Maybe they do have it I just never noticed tho. Overall would definitely check it out again anytime!

I love Barnes & Noble! They have a wide variety of music, books and gifts. I can always find what I want, even when I'm not sure what it is that I want! Really, I can find gifts for everyone, plus myself. If they don't have the book or music you want, they'll happily order it for you. This time I went in for children's books. I was in a hurry and was helped by a very nice lady. With her help, I found just what I wanted and was out in record time. Usually I like to hand out and take my time. It's a very relaxing atmosphere. They even have coffee and snacks. Every staff member I've encountered over the years, has been friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable! I love Barnes & Noble!!!!

This is a really awesome bookstore. Of course because it is a large bookstore is expensive but that's to be expected. I suggested even though things are cheap on Amazon and online that we still support our book stores because they allow us to have hours of endless toy just looking around and taking our children to the children's section so that they can have that experience of what a bookstore feels like. We love the story time they do. The kids book area is also gray and they have so many books! The whole atmosphere makes it really exciting and gets kids into reading. There's plenty for older audiences as well. Everything is labeled so it's easy to find the section you need.

Clean, cozy, a zillion items to choose from, they'll order in anything you want. I can hang out all day with free wifi, an in-store coffee bar, reading all the books I want. Heaven, that's what this store is. Always someone close at hand to help you find what you're looking for, or make suggesting for something new. My kids are grown now and no longer using it, but the kids section is fantastic! They have a table with trains to play with and a cozy reading area. My kids still love going here and are avid readers, thanks to an early love of books and bookstores.

Like to go to here to peruse the books. Found some good novels for the family reader. I checked out the transportation section for car books. It's getting smaller. This Barnes and Noble has a coffee kiosk which was neat. One of the last places to go to actually hold a book before you buy.

Always a great place to set up the laptop, enjoy a cup of coffee (and a delicious keish). All of my favorite books and cozy, quiet memories live in this gem of a structure. Chairs and benches are hidden throughout the shelves for yearning readers, coffee is readily available for hard working students to enjoy while they type, the atmosphere is warm and cozy. You can't ant go wrong here, that's for sure.

This store is so well organized and clean. The employees have always been very friendly and helpful. They had great safety steps in place during the Covid19 pandemic. They had 6ft distance tape all over the store, required masks, kept the doors open so you did not need to touch handles, plexiglass at checkouts, a place to put books you've touched so they can be sanitized and more.

This is my go-to for books, games, journals, activity kits for all ages, and more at Christmas time. I may shop here one or two other times a year, but I'd like to go more often. One thing that would motivate me to do so would be if they expanded their Christian Fiction section. They don't need a whole shelf for Karen Kingsbury and I'm puzzled why they have books that were first published over a decade ago by other authors as well, yet don't carry some of the more recent books by newer authors. I know I can order books too, but I like shopping in person and discovering new books while browsing.

It was super busy but it was right before Christmas so it's understandable. They quite a large selection and everything was labeled well. The staff was friendly enough if overwhelmed. The book sections had decent prices but almost everything else was super pricey. Always smells like coffee because of the cafe inside the store so a pro if you like coffee, con if you don't.

The cafe is nice with good seating and as it is a Starbucks you know what to expect from the coffee. I only drink black coffee so my order is quite easy, when I have gone with my wife she had had issues with even simple orders. Like anything these days don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

I like to come here and just browse around for awhile. Not only do they have a huge selection of books and magazines, but they also have some really cool puzzles and games. Their coffee shop isn't half-bad eithe; although, I never come here just for that.

Been a while since I’ve been to this place. Boy did this place bring back good memories. The staff were nice, they had a surplus of “trendy” or if I dare say “geeky” stuff, and I got a good deal on an expansion deck to exploding kittens. The only feedback I have is that I wish they had more games like “exploding kittens” and less like “relative insanity”. I ended up throwing away some of the cards in the relative insanity deck due to them being too crude for my family and I. Other than that, keep it up! You guys are a great store and I hope to drop by sometime again. :)

Oh Barnes and Noble...one of a few homes away from home that I hold dear. Sure it's a chain, but honestly who cares? To be surrounded by thousands of amazing books with espresso at your beckon call, (typically) good music and cool knick knacks...it's a happy feeling. The staff here is generally very friendly. They'll stop to ask if you're doing OK, but won't do so every 10 seconds while you're trying to browse. Helpful but not pushy. A fine line to walk. The coffee is Starbucks. And that's fine. Not incredible, not bad. Starbucks. As I mentioned though, when paired with books, all coffee tastes better. The kids section is way cool. Story time and similar such events seem to happen fairly regularly and overall, that section of the store has that atmosphere that can only be found in quiet libraries and fun bookstores that makes you nostalgic for the days when you were one of those kids sitting on the floor surrounded by amazing books. The good news? You can still do that as an adult. Try it--sit down on the floor in any section you choose and surround yourself with cool books (just remember to be nice to those employees and clean up). You'll thank yourself. Plenty of overstuffed armchairs to kick back in and partake in a good long read. Honestly, if you're a big reader, I think this is a cool place to bring a date. If I have one complaint against this place, it's one that probably shouldn't matter, but kinda does. The bathrooms here need some TLC. While the staff clearly cleans them, but they just seem to need some renovation. To the shop's credit, they've been vandalized a couple of times (Really? Seriously? Where are your parents? And why a bookstore?), and they've done a good job of repairing the damage. But...yeah, they could use a face lift. If you're looking for an area of the store off the beaten path that's worth a look, check out the little section of handmade journals they have. If you're looking at the main front desk/checkout area, turn left and walk toward the corner of the store. There are all these very awesome journals, mostly leather, with cool clasps and embossed designs and such. I don't know why, but I always find myself over there perusing them. They range a little high in price, but they're classy, and most of them are refillable (you can swap out the interior bound pages when you're ready to do so). This same area of the store also houses some cool other random items. If you do decide to visit Barnes and Noble: after you're finished enjoying all that it has to offer, do us all a favor and buy a book. Even if it's a bargain bin paperback that's marked down to $1.99. You're probably well aware that bookstores are struggling. If you're anything like me, the closure of any Boise bookstore evokes feelings of real loss. We need bookstores and libraries--please support them. And hey, if you do, you get books! Barnes & Noble is my go to place for books. I hate buying books online, and Ebooks just plain suck. They've got it all here. Books, toys, puzzles, games, music, it's all there. The cafe is nice too, if you've got some time to spare and enjoy chilling in book stores. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about everything they carry, and if they don't have what you're looking for, they can get it in quickly.

The last of the big-box book stores. It usually has the book I'm looking for. Prices are, naturally, more expensive than Amazon but sometimes I realize I need the get a book before my 2-day shipping date (like when I'm leaving town and forgot to order the book prior to my trip). The staff at this location are always very friendly, which is a plus. They have a pretty awesome selection of journals, too. And a (pleasantly) surprisingly large selection of occult and Wiccan books, tarot cards, and oracle decks. My biggest issue is trying to find my way around the bookstore when I'm looking for a specific book. I usually have to go to the help desk and ask what section it would be in if it isn't something obvious like a fantasy or sci-fi novel. But, as I said before, the people there are very friendly and very helpful so I never have any issues asking where something is. They'll even walk you right up to the book instead of just pointing vaguely into the yonder with a "in the fiction section, good luck." The customer service is a big reason I will still go there when I know I can get it cheaper online. And while I know they're required to ask me if I want to join their subscription program, they never pressure me if I say "nope."

It is a great place to go for a wide range of book and movie selections. They have some movies that are hard to find elsewhere, but be warned that they charge a large sum for those titles. My husband paid $31.00 for Guardians of the Galaxy, and it wasn't even blu-ray. They offer a small coffee bar as well. It is a great place all- around, you just have to be a thrifty shopper.

I love Barnes and Noble. But I love bookstores and they are a bit of a dying breed. This place has mostly new and popular books; they don't sell used or take trades. There is a selection of classics and older stories but new editions of them. They do summer reading programs for kids and sometimes do kids give aways. There's a coffee shop in the middle as well as a movie and music section and a small but well diversified game section. They also sell pop figures and other collectibles. If they don't have something in store they can order it for you and have it shipped to your house.

Barnes and Noble is my "home-away-from-home". It is the only remining large bookstore in the Boise metropolitan area. I could spend hours here. I've often gone to the bookstore not only to look for books, but to spend time studying in the cafe which is in the center of the store). As for the cafe, they sell Starbucks coffee products as well as desserts, soups, and sandwiches. The Boise Barnes and Nobles also features a Music and Movies department. The employees are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.

I love bookstores! They have this atmosphere about them that's so warm and inviting. It's just plain cozy, especially when you get a nice drink from the Starbucks cafe inside! I feel that books are losing their place in the world because everyone has easy access to books online through their devices. Technology is taking over. It's embarrassing and dad to see that children now don't understand what or how books work and try to swipe their fingers to turn or scroll the page. It's rediculous! When I enter the bookstore it feels like a classic piece of history and I've gone back time. This B & N is HUGE! The cafe is in the center of the store and overlooks the shopping area. I was quite happy to see the "Borders-style" music section with numerous CDs and vinyls. I visited the location for about 15 minutes during the holiday rush on a weekend and was offered assistance at least four times. Much more than I expected, especially during such a chaotic time.

LOVE THIS PLACE. It's always clean, friendly. I like the people and smell. Only big problem I have is the crack outside on the pavement. It's roughly 14 mm and a squirrels foot is 12 mm long. A squirrel could easily be running and catch it's foot in this crack and be trapped. Surprised this hasn't beeen fixed yet. Not sure if its Barnes @ Nobles responsiblty to fix, but it needs to be done. Google won't let me upload photos for some reason, otherwise I'd post a picture of the crack.

The highlight of this place is the BN/Starbucks because it's basically a BN specific coffee shop. You can only get the pastries here, not other buxies. After the Hastings closures, the Barnes and Noble is really one of the only places to pick up physical copies of new release books and magazines. They have an abundant selection and it does help to be a member, as you can often save up to 20% off on purchases. McKillip, Kass Morgan, Margaret Atwood, Elizabeth Haydon, Tad Williams, Alice Hoffman, Tom Robins, Kij Johnson, are sadly nowhere to be found. A big beautiful and grand store that is sadly understocked and poorly utilized. As its one of the last bookstores in Boise, we need it. Frequent it often, have a cup of coffee, check out the gifts and discount books, games, puzzles, fun.

The employees were great! I had my awesome rottweiler with me and nobody complained. As they shouldn't. My rott is not only the most docile rottie there is, he is offended if you do not pet him. There was a small group of women in there who also appreciated his company as my rott very much appreciated their company. Also, the customer service is outstanding.

Solid Barnes & Noble with the café at the center. It's smaller than it's counterparts in other cities, but still provides the same great experience. It's also got good hours, especially given how other places close early in Boise. Also, by having the café at the center, there's an aroma of baked goods throughout the store -- definitely a plus!
