B. HallI visit used bookstores everywhere that I travel. A stop at Jim Reed’s in Birmingham was a highlight of my first visit to the Magic City. This is organized and presented the way a good used bookstore should be: piles of books and ephemera, too. The sole owner and impresario, Mr. Reed, is the perfect antiquarian. No, he had nothing on my list, but I fond a gem there. I am sure that you will too. Closed Sunday and Mondays.

Liz HardyThis place is a gem. When I come looking for a specific book, I’m always able to find it. One visit last year, I had been looking for an extremely rare and difficult book to find. It was over 100 years old. Reed of course had it! To the ones commenting on it being cluttered, part of the fun is searching. You’ll find books you didn’t even know you were looking for. My husband and I drive down from the Huntsville area every few months to enjoy Reed books!
