Reviews of My Parents' Basement
ISAAC
This place was very cool and inside is where all the stuff like comics, decorations, and arcade games are. Arcade games were like a dollar (dollar bill or quarters are accepted) and then there are some cool game machines that are free to play. Pretty chill workers and prices are decent. Only thing i didn’t really like was when you order you are requested to go up to this little table where you get your own water, forks, spoons, sauce, napkins, etc. that’s not even a bad thing it’s just not something I liked. Overall great place and fun for everyone.
Aaron Lee
Fun place to bring kids or just adults. Pretty good food (we mainly had appetizers) and beer selections. Got to sit next to the fire so that was great. Fun time with kids playing pinball. They have at least 10+ pinball machines and other arcade games. One of the machines ate a couple of quad but oh, well. Didn’t check out their comics but there were a lot. Awesome!
Lorie Oconnor
Very cool vibe. We were not expecting much from the outside, but inside there are many pinball machines and comic books. The food was delicious and a good variety of beer and drinks. Very old building with rustic charm!
Thomas Ford
Four stars because the food was tasty but not fantastic. Prices are fair, servings were fair and there was some unique touches on the menu. Beer list is amazing. But I did not give this place enough time to give it a full proper review as the inside is incredible. More comic books, figurines, collectibles anything you can think of including walls of video games (arcade upright styles! A dozen pinball machines I believe!) some free. Go check it out it's amazing..
Stephen Muza
WoW! Now THIS. Is a unique place.
Very impressive! Pinball machines, video games, a bar, delicious eats and...
(wait for it)
Comic books! Pops! Toys! Statues! Graphic Novels!
So many wonderful things!!
And a great & friendly staff!
Fantastic place. I can't wait to go back!!
Virginia Crandall
10/10 would recommend!
We went here for the first time last weekend and WOW! around every corner was something else exciting.
Pinball, Dig Dug, Galatica, Mrs. Pac Man, and other throw back arcade games. They have comic books, Dungeons and Dragons items for sale, and other fun "nerdy" items for sale.
Food is dive-y, drinks are good, atmosphere is amazing!
I am certain that before 2020 this place was a hot spot for a fun crowd. The patio is half open air and half semi-enclosed. Theres a fire place and great space for kids, dogs, and cats (yep, seen a cat in a backpack here) to be and chill.
Brian Inman
Vintage arcade games to time travel back to your younger years. A fun place to enjoy a trip down memory lane that will almost guarantee to make you look up buying an arcade for your basement! Lots of comic books too.
A Tecec
The experience was laid back. I love the old school music! The arcade and comic magazines was classic. I'll definitely return with my boys and ket them have at it while I have a beer lol! The Philly cheesesteak lacked onions they were tiny. The cheese wiz was salty but it was decent. The bun was toasted and fresh. The fries were hot and fresh. The mac was a NO. Louis I think bartender was A1. He's a vibe lol! I will go back for something basic Like tacos lol.
Denzil Walton
This establishment is pretty amazing and the food I ordered was very delicious. Yo, the Mac n Cheese was off the chain. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood. 😎
Mitchell Austin
Fun place with a good beer selection, good pub food including several vegan selections. The fun comes in the form of many pinball machines, arcade games, and comic books.
jennifer yarbrough
I love this place so much!! It truly has all our faves in one spot. Comics, pinball and arcade video games and most excellent tunes. And the best food!!! Their vegan Reuben is out of this world. Great beverages too and impressive NA beer list too!! Cannot wait to go back again soon!!
Stephanie Aremu
Great place for Comic Book Fanatics! Self Serving pub really feels like your parents basement. Staff is friendly. Pub food is decent. Great patio seating. Pinball games were a blast. Check it out!
Alex Kropp
Very cool spot with a definite character. The indoor comic shop is a really awesome touch and the pinball machines give the place a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food quality I've experienced so far has been pretty low. The items I've seen look hastily put together with mid to low tier ingredients. The menu is also quite limited with most items being some fusion of home style and the gastropub type. Absolutely worth the visit for the vibe and some drinks but I wouldn't plan it as a meal stop.
A Moks (Ohemaa MaMokowa)
Super chill place! The food was tasty [my son loved the cashew butter and jelly sandwich! ]and I love that it's a comic store as well as a restaurant/bar. Parking is free but it was a bit hard to find since the sign isn't that big. Nonetheless, I can't wait to return to play the retro games and check out the comics!
Abbas Naqvi
We love this place! Video games, pinball, comic books, vegan food and beer! What else could you want!
I always go for the vegan Rueben sandwich which is delicious. Their beer selection is great and video game.machines are fun. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. They also have outdoor seating as well as a covered patio. Highly recommend!
Michael Long
Great retro gaming and comics vibe. They have great taste and stuck to it. Alot of pinball machines. I loved the comics and the games and the beers, seems like good people. They have a large patio. The interior is not 2 stories or massive its not small but not huge. Somehow I expected a few more games besides the pinball games. But I loved it.
Jennifer Harrelson
Very friendly restaurant staff, safe dining with lots of outdoor, covered seating and many games offered inside.
Some of the video games we free but none of the pinball games were so I didn't play anything. (Be nice if just one pinball was on freeplay.)
Large collection of comic books and tons of decorations/figurines all over inside to look at while waiting for your food.
Peter Way
Great food, great service. If you get a chance to try it, they have amazing chili. Perfect for cooler days. If it's warm out, the Nachos are wonderful too! (The chocolate cherry cookies are definitely worth a taste, too)
L P
This place never disappoints with great food and excellent staff! It's a haven for comic book and pinball lovers and they have an amazing patio you can bring the dog to. Brunch drinks are delicious too. Most recently they introduced tetras tots! Delicious and fun for the adult thats a kid at heart!
Renita Knight
Very nice I loved the beer selection and I had a nice Club sandwich. They have lots of pinball machines and comic books for sale. It's a nice spot in Avondale Estates. The bar staff are very efficient, attentive and knowledgeable. I had a great time!
Brianna Lesnick
The ambiance of this place was great and they had a wide variety of pinball machines and other games to play. I was also impressed by their vegan options. However, when my boyfriend wanted to purchase some comics it was difficult for us to find out where to go to buy them.
John DeMicco
Great little comic shop, good & varied food, nice little cocktail program & great beer selection.
Menu hasn't changed much in a while. Good veg and vegan options (except for the vegan meat Reuben and Gyro; both are terrible, salty & dry), Miss that vegan chicken salad sandwich; that was awesome.
Cassey Brooks
Ok, Folks
This place is for everyone... The young, the old, the geeks, the nerds, the LaidBacks and the dog lovers. Great food, great atmosphere, indoor/ outdoor eats. A Bar, comic books, Retro video games, Outstanding food. Vegan friendly, and an awesome staff. Bring the kids or not, family Oriented, date night appropriate or it could be a singles domain. Free parking, no long wait times and the staff is A+. Shout out to Reno (staff member) for the great meal he prepared. He prepared the food with 💜❤️❤️ , delivered and presented the food to our table. All of the staff consistently waited on everyone. There didn't seem to be assigned waiters because everyone was attentive. I saw all ages from 2+ to 85yrs of age. So grab your keys and head on down to "My Parents Basement " and enjoy a wonderful atmosphere, you won't be sorry. Don't forget to ask for Reno when you need that special touch for your meal.
The owners have done a wonderful job with this one. So SHOUT OUTS to the owners.
Daniel Peña
Great place, excellent atmosphere. Burgers are really tasty. Definitely will come back.
Kathleen Mchugh
It was a great atmosphere we sat outside nice weather at the time. I loved the food . It was priced very well. My beer was awesome. I had lava cake yum....I'd go back again for sure
Tad Caudill
Need to fix Mando pinball but food and drinks great. New favorite place in Atlanta
Bill V
Very nice atmosphere and great food. The old school pinball machines are awesome. Not a comic book person, but if you are you need to check out this place
Jonathan Lewis
Nice arcade bar, 18 pinball machines in good shape. Godzilla and Jurassic Park pinball are wonderful fun with dynamic modes. Friendly and courteous staff. And this place is centrally located inside Atlanta.
Christan Stager
So much fun! Lots of options for pinball, wide selection of comics, and the food is good. All the staff is very friendly. Great place to have fun with family or friends or even by yourself!
karrie Weddle (Sylestia)
Great beer and pinball machine selection. I love the spinach salad with shrimp. I go for Ladies Pinball League on Wednesdays from time to time. They also have a comic book shop. Staff is very friendly.
Erin Scussel
I appreciate that they have more than one option for NA beer! Thank you for catering to the sober crowd, not many places do. The food and service was great. We will definitely return.
William Davis
Love the vibe of this place. Games and beer are great. Food is a bit lacking in my opinion, but if you just want some basic pub food then you are in business
Anna Kritskaya
I wanted to like it so bad. The drinks are decent, though weak. The games are fun to play, especially when a little tipsy. But the food…just awful. Even for bar food, it’s depressing and under seasoned. I never understood why places offer 8 different sides if they can’t do any of them well. We got chips/queso to start, a basket of chili cheese fries, and the bbq bacon burger with a side of Mac and cheese. The chips/queso were ok, too salty, and not spicy/seasoned enough. The chili on the fries was obviously canned, which was ok, but the fries were not crispy. And the burger…bland, overcooked, burnt bacon, almost no bbq sauce. The worst part had to be the Mac and cheese. It obviously had been sitting in their fridge far too long because it tasted like nothing but a fridge. Just gross over all.
I would still go back considering the proximity to my house and the environment. But i won’t risk eating there again.
Alyssa Huenniger
The draft rotation never ceases to surprise me and offer up something novel each visit (I especially appreciate the mead selections)! The vegan corn dogs and meatloaf sandwich are my go-to items, and I'll gladly enjoy snacking on those while reading through a good comic book or after playing a couple of grueling rounds of pinball.
K Dillard
Vegan grilled "chicken" salad sandwich very good. Good lite snack and eat better I got the sauted spinach. I think something crossed contaminated or maybe I should gotten the gluten free bread. I say that because I'm itching. Otherwise ai would have given it 5 stars.
Fernando Baltazar-Coronado
Look. This is the place to be if you want a beer and be with your kid. It is a comic book shop, so don't expect club attire. If you do, then you are an idiot. Other than that, this place is amazing.
Leslie Wittenbach
MPB is a fun spot with an excellent beer selection, cool events, and nice sized patio (but limited indoor seating). The food is hit or miss, but the Tetris tots are fun.
Donnie Kicklighter
Can't think of a cooler place to chill with a drink, pinball and comics. Great selection of tables, excellent atmosphere and great bartenders. Can't recommend enough.
Jack Babalon
Great food. Fun atmosphere. One of the best selections of comic book back issues in Atlanta.
Carla Gonzalez
My Parent's Basement is a great place! The food and service is really good but the best part is the comic books and pinball machines! Perfect place to just grab a drink with some friends and enjoy the atmosphere! It's also very family friendly so there is some fun for everyone.
ProjectRawHealth
A great bar where the locals enjoy great games and drinks! Service is always awesome and people are so friendly.
Nicole Rydza
Wonderful establishment! The food is delicious, the pinball was fun, great alcohol selection. The music was awesome. Bartenders were super nice, funny, and accommodating. They had a great mead to drink for my Viking soul as well. They also have toys and comics to buy, which is great for my nerdy soul.
Juan Ortiz
This place is pretty neat! They have a small selection of comics, toys and pin ball machines. They have a bar and food as well. The food is alright, it could be better. I dont drink so I can't review the alcohol. The service was very good and friendly. I would recommend anyone to come check it out! 🤴 …
Steven
Pretty impressive selection of comic books, new, and vintage, trade paperbacks etc. Arcade and pinball games to play. Had a burger and chili cheese fries and diet coke. $19 total for that. Food was about average for a bar but was fresh and nice portions. Pretty good value. Service was great. Really cool place for comic geeks. Will definitely return.
Aaron Lynch
What a great combination - booze, balls, and books. Great beers on draft, pinball and arcade games, and tons of comic books and collectibles. The food looks amazing but I did not eat while I was there. I was peeping on a meatloaf sandwich the guy next to me ordered, I am definitely trying it next time I return.
Latricia
Loud crowded but has a cool retro gaming, comic, and nerd merch sections to play and purchase. Did not partake in dining or drinks might return to do so.
Christin Brown
Had a local Pilsner, ate a steak quesadilla, and ordered the Umberella Academy book series!! I'm hooked! Food and beer were both amazing. Service was great.
Amanda Young
The beer was good and cold, the food was not... The kitchen was having a bad night :( but they took some off the bill to make up for it. Took 2 hours to get food And nobody got what they asked for. But on the upside we had fun with our friends. And the server was very nice and was trying very hard.
I would go back for another try to see how it is on a great night.
Teresa Lynnette
Very fun and laid backed place. The food was delicious and the pinball fun.
Teundras Oaks
Very cool place and the staff was AWESOME. Took a friend here for his birthday because he loves comic books and the staff went above and beyond to make his day special. Can’t rave enough about how accommodating they were. Also plenty of vegan and vegetarian options which was great for the group I came with. We’ll never forget the experience!
Thien-Kim Quach
Simple menu with good pub eats and sizable drinks selection. Cozy and quirky vibes. Great place for lovers of comics and games to gather in ATL
davd jacob
This bar is comic book themed and has a very relaxed environment complete with comics to read and arcade games to play! Great selection off beer, just grab one at the bar and relax with your inner child!
Jenn Meschi
An establishment created by people who love food and comic books, and really appeals to the dork in all of us. Pinball machines and beer make this the perfect place to bring kids to play while parents can sit and socialize. Definitely worth the trip if you have never been!
Deborah S. D'Cruze
Good food, great drink menu that includes local offerings. Comic book atmosphere, so much so that they sell comics and fun collectibles. Indoor and outdoor seating (heated in the winter) and weekly events that reach out to the community (including a weekly geek trivia night - highly recommended). Perfect place to meet up with friends for a boardgame night, though you'll have to provide your own games (no reservations accepted, by the way). I highly recommend this place as a great group gathering place provided you aren't in a rush.
Charlotte Anne Bond
UPDATE: Service here can be so bad. The beer selection is good, but food is slow and service tends toward incompetence.
OLD REVIEW: I really wish I liked it more. The food is strange in a good way, but nothing special other than being odd. The beer list is good and the beer is cold. The first problem is, while the servers are really nice, they are not efficient so the service is not good. Actually, it is better to say the service is hit or miss. They are all friendly, but they are not all good at their job. I can't make myself go enough to get a grasp of the vibe of the spot. However, the patio is dog friendly and kid friendly. They have video games and board games to borrow. The patio is warm in the winter, dry in the rain, and cool in the summer. The place has a certain amount of charm, but they are missing the mark.
Yvonne Arrington
The music was loud. The cheesestake sandwich was disappointing because it was salty and served on hot dog bun. I expected more for $13.00. The bread pudding was good.
Rebecca Bussert
Great food, fantastic beer selection, and the kitchen is open late (til 10:45pm on a Monday). I had the wild mushroom hoagie with chicken added, spaghetti squash oin the side. Friendly staff, Angelica was my bartender.
Laura Lynn Brooks
Great menu, love everything about this place. Dog friendly and Family friendly. Even if you aren't vegan this place is a hit!
Jacki Peters
Great neighborhood place really cool fun arcade, some really unique graphic novels and art
Erika Howell
They have an amazing beer selection, food was on point & who can be bored when you have pinball to play or comics to peruse!
Lindsey Tingler
Wonderful bar with a seriously nerdy and friendly atmosphere. Can talk to anyone, barkeep/watress/waiter/patron. Delicious food and ample beer selections. Niche cocktails but still perfectly crafted. Overall the best bar in the area, but also family friendly. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
Alyssa Forrest
Hands down my favorite bar in Atl!! A comic book Shop and pub, what more could you ask for? Great drink selections, and serves food as well. Great atmosphere, so glad I found this place!
Rachelle Clark
Brought my son here for his birthday. Very friendly staff and great service! Comic books and pinball machines were a +!
Bradley Newton
Great service and food. Great store and games. I counted eleven pinball tables when we were there. Our office department drove across town for an extended lunch here. You should go!
brOOtal_bananas
The food, service, decor, and merchandise are fantastic. I should've just said the place is fantastic!
PS, they're pet-friendly on the patio 🐶🐱✌️
Brittny M
We came here during the Ale Trail and it was definitely the best place we visited. Tons of beers options, seems like they keep at least one cider available, and they have mixed drinks. The food was beyond delicious! It's simple, straight forward, and done right. Inside is even more amazing with tons of comic books for purchase, pinball machines, and novelty items. We will definitely be back!
michael farmer
Super friendly staff, dog friendly and plenty of vegan options...will absolutely be back
Clare Bear forever
Went during the day around 3:30. The service was absolutely great. The lemon mic drop drink was awesome. You can sit inside or outside. There are free old school arcade games to play & tons of comic books you can purchase. Didn't get to try the food but will definitely go back.
Melissa King
This one of my favorite restaurants! Lots of vegan options, above and beyond a veggie burger. Really good beer selection. I don't drink much, but I do at this place. Pinball machines, arcade games, and comic book shop inside. Lots of patio seating and fireplaces in the colder months.
Adam Toth
I had the Rueben and it was really really good! Also the place is so chill. Walk around, check out the comics while drinking a beer and play the free arcade games. Can't be beat!!!
Ms.T Dorsey
The atmosphere of the shop is wonderful. There are game machines, comics, action figures, board games and more. However for me personally, the food could have been better.
Ashraf Hossain
Great beer selection and good mix of old and new pinball and arcade games
Charlotte Anne Bond
I like the beer selection, the dessert choices and the very odd ambience. This is a comic book store and restaurant with a great bar. Better than all that they have pinball and video games. The outdoor patio is covered and can be heated in winter by using plastic sheeting to generally enclose the great outside patio.
I also like the food. The burgers are done well and the sides are fun. They offer tater tots and kimchi as sides. They offer a good selection of local beers which is great as there are quite a few breweries within a couple of miles, two in walking distance.
Daniele Xenos
Y'all. The patio at My Parent's Basement is completely open on one side for safety, and there are TWO amazing fireplaces. In the open portion of the patio, there is a huge gas lamp. Tables are distanced, and they've got a ton of precautions in place.
They also have really cool nerdy masks for sale. 😉
Ashley Marque'
Great establishment for the awkwardly chic and the geeks around the world! I go here and feel at home and also get to enjoy great food and an extremely diverse draft pick and drink menu! Go check it out!
Alex R
Very cool atmosphere, great beer selection, and has arcade games on free play mode to play.
Kate Fugate
Neighborhood favorite! We come here to celebrate with beer and pinball for tons of family occasions. Service is always great and the food is yummy with lots of veghead options!
Renata Picoli
Amazing place! Great environment, nice selections of beer, good option of food (even veggie) and awesome geek decoration. The staff is super friendly and the owners are great people!
Elyse Sims
Delicious! The bartenders were incredibly knowledgeable, and great with recommendations. Wicked neat atmosphere, scrumptious food, and copious drink menu. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Jodi Bogue
So much fun! Pinball comics and great food too! There were 7 of us and everyone enjoyed their food . The burgers were not dry and super tasty! I love the retro games!
Shauna McCullough
I liked it. The food was great, had a very long wait because of a large party that day but everything else was good.
Hadrian Agee
Pretty dope place. Lots of great comics to pick from, pinball machines to spend money at, and food items to select on the menu (with vegetarian and vegan options, as well). Can be a bit confusing at first glance, but there are plenty of signs around to help you navigate where to go and how to get started with ordering your food. Will definitely be coming back for sure.
Dione Ansah
A pretty cool location. This place has comics and graphics of many styles plus food and drinks. You can sit at the bar, inside at a table or dine outside. Great customer service from a cheerful crew.
Erika McFarlin
This place is awesome! The food was great and so were the servers. I LOVED the Tetris tots. And the fact that I could buy comic books and play arcade games after really sealed the deal.
Will Jones
Great place with lots of outdoor seating. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and plenty for the meat lovers as well. Nice friendly staff. Great comic book store inside with pinball machines and a nice bar. Worth checking out.
Sarah Falls
Used to be a 5 star place. Food is great and they have a nice patio that allows dogs! ...but I was just informed by the staff that the ordering at the counter and having to get your water and condiments and napkins is going to be a permanent thing and not just to deal with COVID. That's not cool. It's very cumbersome to have to go back and forth grabbing all of these items with my dog in tow. I find it strange that they ask for tips, if nobody is really taking care of you.
Craig Alexander
Cool atmosphere and great food. Plus the pinball machines are super fun.
Sobered Quasar
You have to try this place. It's amazing! I've dubbed if my new hangout. Nothing like working close enough to grab a bit for lunch, a few games of pinball and some great priced $1.00 back issues. The great selection of back issues alone is incredible. Great ambiance. Great music. Great mid-work day reset.
Invalidspin
Took my 6 year old son here so he (we) could look for comics. Solid selection and I was impressed with the variety of taps for beer. Atmosphere was very cool, loved the arcade games and the dude who sold me the Red Hulk #1 was very nice.
Honestly, our first experience was great. This place has character, personality and I look forward to going back!
Sam Hammond
I like bars that feel unique and have an identity and this one delivers in both counts. Booze, pinball and comics- what’s not go love?
Steven Stuglin
Cool ambiance and fun to look through comics/games. The food is tasty. The beer list is pretty minimal for a bar this size, and the lack of table service on the patio is still dissapointing.
Ryan Cox
Tons of vegan options with uick counter serve style set up.
Comics to buy. Games to play (although pinball isn't free).
Very nice outdoor patio.
Mike “Mode Master” Smith
Good brunch menu, great drinks, nice atmosphere & dog friendly. Only downside is having to get up to order, grab your utensils & water. Everything else is brought to your table though.
Two “Boogie” Gunz
Great customer service
Great food.
Vegan options
Kid friendly
Chas Welch
Food was pretty good. The atmosphere was fun. We will definitely go back. My only complaint is no indoor seating besides the bar.
Alex Pineda
This place has a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating. On top of that, it's got a comic book section and plenty of geeky décor.
jayinatlanta
No place like it! Come for a meal in a VERY COVID-safe outdoor dining arrangement, or indoors in nearly-as-safe conditions. They have a nice selection of food, including a couple really good vegan dishes, and great beer.
However, the comic book and collectables, and the arcade and pinball games, make a visit here all the more special.
Again, nowhere else like this in ATL. Highly recommended!
Ray Blount
This place has everything! Pinball; liquor, wine, and beer; excellent food; and covid sensible seating.
ryan geoghagan
Awesome experience. Huge beer list and the staff all work together to cover every table. Plus me amd my wofe are pretty competitive on the ping pong tables. Comic book selection was elite.
Juan Arreola
Interesting place, I read online about it, so I had some extra time tonight after a movie and went to see for myself. The games were outdated and mostly pinball machines, so if that's your thing, we'll welcome. They had many comic books, and collectibles. A nice outside deck and a bar to impress your date. I guess if they had up to date video games and more of them, I would think of coming back. But for a first date, this would a conversation piece and a way to interact with your date and have fun, but a repeated date place, I would say no thanks.
Mackenzie Iglesias
Vibe and atmosphere are awesome. Food was really good and not your average bar food quality! So many vegan options too!
Chanequa
The burger was juicy, the bacon was not too hard, the bun was salted with the toasted butter, the bbq sauce had a hit of smokey Chipotle. All around great burger!!!
Bunny Aug
Great bar with a fantastic beer selection. Friendly staff and a great owner. Worth the drive out.
Bennett Kane
This place is cool. Been on a couple of dates here, and they went well. I like that there are comic books and stuff to look at. It can give some stimulus beyond just being in a regular bar.
Sandro Gisler
Friendly service, nice comic books, good
food and beer
Azalea Sanchez Navedo
The location great, plenty parking spaces, indoor and outdoor set ups, interesting games. Food was pretty good. Definitely a serve yourself and pick up after yourself kind of place. A tad expensive for minimal service. Worth a visit for the food and extensive beer selection.
William Phillips
Nice fun place. Outdoor seating is cool with a half outdoor slash closed in area. Only tavern I know with comic books and free arcade. The pinball machines are a dollar to play...my only complaint. Decent beer selection and food is ok for a bar.
Krista K
I normally don't do 3 star reviews but I just plain regret eating here. My mouth was watering thinking about meatloaf and it was so dry even the beer wasn't enough.
Come for the free games and the bar, just eat beforehand.
Shay Adams
It felt like a Hogwarts bar experience, need to sell butterbeer. The cider was delicious. I'm not beer person but if you're like me, and like fruity tastes ask for one
Kristyn Sattelmeier
I’ve only been here once but I really enjoyed it. Great drinks. Fun atmosphere with the comic books and pinball machines inside. We sat on the patio on a nice evening and found it very enjoyable. Our waitress was cool and nice and had on a great cat dress!
Eston Melton
Really delicious burger and a great beer selection. Their menu is surprisingly vegan-friendly and I appreciate that the kids menu has a more variety than the usual children's fare. Will definitely return for the food, and probably also for a couple of comic books.
Ken Bressler
Love the atmosphere. Comics, pinball, and craft beer. What more could you want? We were visiting from out of town and it only made me wish there was a place like this back home. Will definitely return next time I'm in town.
Kellen Malone
This is such a unique spot. As the pubs in the area have gotten more and more upscale and lost their personality, My Parents Basement has leaned into their nerdiness. The staff is great and seems to care about the "soul" of the place. Please support this establishment, Decatur needs it.
David Washburn
Good food, great beer selection, and fun vibe at this comic book store and themed neighborhood bar. We were there for trivia night this time, but every visit had been worthwhile. Check out the selection of games while you wait (or while you drink), or debate Marvel vs DC with the next table. Not a nerd? No problem! Enjoy the shrimp tacos and a basket of tots and make fun of the folks who are.
Heather Lowry
It was ok. Lots of pinball machines and alcohol, but very few comics so didn't stay long.
Matt Hutchison
Really enjoy this place! It’s a cool atmosphere, comics and games. Have simple but tasty foods (corn dogs, chicken tenders, Philly cheesesteaks, etc.). Have a great beer selection and the servers were all really friendly. Would definitely recommend!
Vincent Kastelik
Awesome place to go. Love the food and the environment.
Vegan Reuben tastes better than real corned beef and thousand island dressing.
Vegan Gyro is great too! The crunchy black eyed peas are really interesting and tasty!
Mitch Leff
Very fun place to eat and play games, very friendly staff and great selection of drinks and games. Also pinball, comics and arcade cabinets.
Bradley Occhipinti
Really loved the selections of comic titles, everything was easy to find and it isn't another "climb over 10 boxes of past issues" comic store either with more of a focus on current titles and a few collectibles behind the counter. Beer selection also very good with lots of local options and friendly staff. Also loved that there are free classic arcade games in the back. Can't say the food was as good as the rest of the store, with stuff that just didn't have any flavor. Will go back for a beer and eat before or after but really love the rest.
Natasha Zloccowick
Great for families. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. The comic book store is fun and the free arcade games are a fantastic way to pass the time with kids while waiting on the food. Service was very friendly. We really enjoyed everything about our visit.
D Gehrke
Great place! Good atmosphere, 10 pinball machines! Lots of craft bears on tap. Food looks good although I didn't eat there. Only wish they would turn the volume up on the pinball machines, could barely hear them.
Lezlie Cohen
If you are at all a nerd head this is the place for you!!! The inside has a ton of comic books for sale as well as assorted role playing games and accessories. The walls are filled with paintings and bobble heads galore. The outside is a very charming cozy place to eat and the food is tasty too.
Darrin Rumph
I love the concept of this location. Fun casual food with a game room/comic book store in the back. We arrived around noon and received a lukewarm welcome and was told to “Sit wherever you want”. We were warned by our server that there were big parties ahead of us, but we had a 1hr 20 min wait for our food and they missed some specific requests. The food was good (wifey loved the shrimp and grits) and our server brought out a free appetizer for the wait, but that wait was unacceptable. We might try them again and wish them luck..... P.S. We did buy a few comics.
Paul Dunbar
Seriously superior food to what you'd expect. Excellent burger, perfectly fried food, good beet salad and a great grain bowl for a healthier option. The smokey sauce on the grain bowl is a great touch. Excellent beer list too. Service can be a little less attentive than other places but is always nice once you flag them down. A good thing if you'd rather be left alone vs bugged a lot.
Eric Korotkin
Pretty solid bar food and an interesting place. There is a comic book shop inside and a good collection of pinball machines to play.
Good beer selection and a cool bar as well. If you're in the area and into comics and beer, you will love this house.
Russell Kirn
Awesome covered outdoor seating area. They have fireplaces and arcades and decent food. Don't expect a refill on your drink.
Dave Atkins
Great food, great people, great prices, great beer selection. I've brought people from all walks of life (different backgrounds and ethnicities) and everyone loves MPB! And so do I!
Free arcade games only pay for pinball, this combination can't be beat.
Jeremiah Westly
I come here with my family often. It's usually easy to get a table, the staff is very friendly, the food is good, the beer selection is one of the best in the area, and it's an easy place for my family to gather, and my 5 year old nephew can have fun.
They've got weekly trivia, a comic book store, pinball machines, and a friendly geeky atmosphere.
Jordan Cobo
The games were extremely difficult and way to hard to play this took away the fun of it will definitely not be coming back

Spectacular melding of bar, tavern restaurant, arcade, and comic book store, with no aspect suffering from this experiment. The owner took a decaying German style restaurant and turned it into a wonderful geek themed destination. Food and drink prices are reasonable, meals taste incredible. The comic book store is well stocked, with diverse new releases, omnibus collections, novels, and toys. Even if comics and geek culture isn't your thing, the bar and restaurant are a treat on their own. Check out the small arcade in the back for some real blasts from the past.
Andee Cantatore
This is such a cool spot! Part comic book shop, part bar, part restaurant. Their comic and graphic novel selection is impressive, they have a good mix of super heroes and indie books. The food is good, they have interesting beers on tap, and the staff is super friendly. PLUS, they have about a dozen meticulously maintained pinball machines.
Michael Evans
What a cool, welcoming place. The menu goes surprisingly far beyond the typical “bar food” fare—I had the spaghetti and meatballs. Service was solid, the food was great, and the atmosphere was very fun! Props to the guy with his hair done just like Wolverine!
Donald Jones
First time stopping in while on an adventure with my wife and stopped in to see the local comic shop. Staff was nice. And the ambience was fantastic! Loved the idea. Yes they could have a larger selection of comics however the place opened 6 mths ago and the set up is great! Will return to check out the food but the menu looks cool! Keep up the good work! Excelsior!
Brittany Redding
I love this place. I love the people who work here. I love the food (the mushroom grinder shows up in my dreams) and I make special trips just to get some of their delicious bread pudding. The atmosphere is great and I love that you can grab a beer and then shop around for a comic or play some free play retro arcade games. I come here at least once a week and will continue to do so!
Elizabeth Hague
2022 Update- STILL MADLY IN LOVE. I joined a pinball league here and MPB is one of my greatest sources of joy. Keep up the amazing work team. We love you!!
Previous review-
Always good selection of beer and great staff. They even serve vegan food options and are innovative enough to make every dive food option classic AND new feeling.
Sean Martin
Prices are good, atmosphere is better, bar food is even better than that.
Ordered the JJ burger with fries and a Coke. Food was served up fast, and it was pretty good! The bar area is really cool: the bar itself is an enormous slab of sealed concrete, with dark wood paneling in the back for shelves. Taps are clearly labeled, and the cooler/fridge has big glass doors, so you can see what kind of canned beverages they have. My server never let my cup run dry. In fact, because he saw my mouth was full (how am I gonna reply? Grunting? Talking like I'm at the dentist?) he made a pinching motion with his hand, like grabbing a cup. Pushed my cup over and got a refill.
Plus, there are a lot of comics, miniatures, and memorabilia to look at. I'll definitely return.
Mario DiAntonio
My Parents Basement is a great place for comic enthusiasts. They offer great food, excellent service, and a very cool indoor or outdoor atmosphere. It's a comic book / bar / awesome restaurant that also has a great selection of very well maintained pinball machines. Its been consistently great and I highly recommend this place.
Clayton Henderson
Really cool atmosphere! First time coming in the other day. Always heard about this place really wanted to go. My wife and I are always at Revolution Donuts and realized it was right down the road so we stopped by. The Bar area was really cool and the staff seemed really friendly. Cant wait to come back. Gonna have to try the food next time.
Meredith Lacy Williamson
Miss this place so much right now! Great food, huge amazing patio with fans, wonderful staff and fun,, quirky vibe with its multiple comic books, pinball machines and game and trivia nights. Love their wraps, shrimp pasta, tots, salads, and their seasonal bread pudding is to die for!
Serenity Hogue
It Is an amazing place! Such kind people, good food, not overpriced, and amazing comic book selections. However, my waiter did not give very good service. He didnt visit our table often to ask if we needed anything. Everything else was super nice !
Maugan Lloyd
good selection of well cared for beer and ten pin ball machines! There's a great mix of people, academics, nerds, families, business people, students....
I always end up having a good conversation with people at the bar, and the food is a cut above normal bar food.
I bought a house because it was within a reasonable distance from here.
Beau Buchanan
Service can be meh at times, but the food and atmosphere are good. We typically go for trivia and it can get kinda crowded. A pretty fun place overall. Enjoy some of the free arcade games and browsing the comics!
Marie Weeks
It has some very friendly staff and a pretty nice atmosphere. They have a few old arcade machines you can play as well as a bunch if comics and a general nerdy feel about it. It's a nice place to just chill and drink with your friends. Judging by the types of people we saw when we went, it appears to be family friendly as well. I also hear they do trivia on some nights and I've been meaning to check it out!
We only had some of their appetizers so I can't really comment on the food. The appetizers were ok. The only thing I really don't like about this place is the limited parking. Even though there are parking lots on both sides, there aren't that many spaces so it may be tough finding a spot if it's busy.
Erin Brown
Really great atmosphere, and fantastic, large selection of local and other craft beer. They have fun regular events like trivia and drink-and-draw. The food is the only semi-downside. Some items are wonderful - their salads are excellent, and the tetris tots are addictive. A few other items are also good, but some of the menu is mediocre at best. If they can even out the menu and get all items up to a good level of quality, it'd be 5-star easily. Also, the prices are FANTASTIC for a near-Decatur location. The beer and food are extremely reasonably priced.
Dusty Largo
Cool place! Me and my cousin stopped in for dinner and were blown away by their establishment. The decor was nerdy and exactly what we love. I even saw they had events throughout the month as well (drink & draw every third Monday, nerd trivia Tuesdays at 8, and something in December called a Bizarre Bazaar). Definitely going back. Would recommend.
Cameron Schriner
This place has a fantastic atmosphere! The comics are so fun to browse while waiting for your food. Even when they are busy, the staff keep you informed on every part of your order with a positive attitude. This is a must hang spot in Decatur!
Phillip Mader
Thank you 😋 I really enjoyed my philly cheese steak …
Mardi Graz
Great spot! The staff does always warm up to you eventually. I often go there and feel like I bein ignored but then without fail, whoever is behind that bar will turn around and just be the brightest, friendliest, most solid person you've encountered in a while without being forced or extra and it all just works! Decent food, fantastic decor! This spot is an absolute dream for geeks and comic nerds! They have a great selection of books AND figures including Pop! Like games? Old school arcade and pinball machines on deck! Come have a drink and a great chat that will stay with you!
E.R. Noche
Great local beer selection. Arcade/pinball area is spot on. Trivia is super fun. Mac and cheese is amazing! (a bit spicy from horseradish) I haven't been enough to try other menu items so 4 stars for now. Will change review when I go again.
Paul Distasi
Amazing pinball machines and graphic novel collection. Great staff with delicious comfort food on the menu. Breakfast all day! Bloody Mary's are amazing and there is an impressive beer list of local and national micro-brews. Really cool spot in Avondale Estates.
J Vignati
Very cool concept restaurant/bar/comic book shop all in one! Unique atmosphere- part Irish Pub, part geek chic with video games and pinball machines.
Chill service and tasty food (tots) both healthy and not as healthy.
Full bar and wide beer selection.
Worth a visit!
Hannah Green
This a really fun spot! They have a great beer selection and a yummy menu. My only complaint is that I feel the food is bit overpriced, but that's honestly par for the course with bars. My favorite thing about My Parents' Basement is that there's something there for everyone! Games, comics, nerdiness galore in addition to the good drinks and food.
Wendy McDowell
Great concept. No one checks on you. It would be better if someone checked on you and offered refills or boxes. High chairs where very dirty. Food was good for the most part but lacks seasoning especially the kids meals.
Daniel Land
Great place for comics & fod + beer. They have a small arcade area with some free games & cooler yet staff is knowledgeable about the comics & I scored 2 posters for free!
Will come back, with friends from out of town & put it on my must see list if your into the comic culture
Tamara Vanderhoof
Such a unique place. Great food, comics, so many pinball machines and super nice folks! Open patio made taking out dog one more cool aspect
Sonia Castillo
Super cool atmosphere, nice food and beer selection.. a MUST for comic lovers.
Douglas Lee
Nice atmosphere, cool spot to chill, play games, read, etc. However the food, especially for the price wasn't great. I might have caught them on a bad day, which happens, but overall, not a bad spot. I would consider going again, especially if they either dropped the price on the food, or made it better.
K.Alexander Wagenman
Great atmosphere, felt like I could just hangout with no pressure. Full bar with good service, and a descent collection of new & old comics. Some new comics have sustained slight damage from patron usage. So thoroughly inspect any prior to purchase.
Lana Hooks
Loved the customer service, friendly family environment even though they serve beer and wine. I had Kimichi and a Patty Melt for a main course . Appetizer was Salsa, Chips, and Queso. All was extremely good. Not overly seasoned just right. A plus is the comics, graphic novels and pinball machines inside the restaurant. Even if you sit outside they have huge fans to keep you cool. And they don't interfere in not hearing someone when they are talking. My go to for the summer. Huge comic book fan!😉
Wendy Kidd
Very quaint cozy place to go try wine! Very artsy as well!
Hugh T
Great bar, and the only original concept in the area. Would like to see more throw back video games in the future, but what they already have is great. The only room for improvement is the food. Although the menu is very nice, the taste is a bit bland. Very kid friendly (which is a drag if one of those little runts gets to the free vid games first 😆). Definitely worth the trip.
Amy Carrera
No place to sit but outside, with summer heat it was miserable as there were mere ceiling fans that didn't move air and was miserable. Food was good, beer selection and staff was good. Lots of comics and games to play.
36 Volts Son
Awesome place, lots of beers and lots of pinball machines
Supakimbop '
Probably one of the best places I have been so far. The drinks are amazing and well priced if you are on a budget. The food is delicious and the service was hands-down, great. The bartenders and waiters/resses were very attentive to each customer. They have a great selection of comics to read and buy, action figures galore, and pinball machines. The best was the fact that the arcade games were free to play. All in all, MPB will be my new hangout spot. Thank you guys for an amazing getaway.
Luciano Sanchez
Great drinks on tap! Delicious food - I got sides that were ~$3-5 each. The bartenders were very helpful in picking good beers. Pinball was solid too. Hope to return soon!
Brenden
This is a great beer bar and if you like comics even better. The food is always fresh and the staff always make you feel welcome. I'm working close to this place so always nice to pop in and drink and eat some food.
Cory McDaniel
Comic books, pinball, and a great cheesesteak. A must stop by.
John Carroll
Fantastic neighborhood bar/restaurant/comic shop/arcade. They have a winning formula here with a great beer selection and good food, as well as a large comic book selection. There's a large patio in front that's great for well behaved kids and dogs.
Kayla Diamond
The food here is amazing and most of it, if not all, is homemade! Excellent people work here too that treat you like family.
If you've never had their brunch before it just might become your new favorite spot ❤️
John Nacinovich
It's a Comic Book shop, Craft Beer Bar, and restaurant all in one. What's not to love? The food here is tasty and they have a great beer selection. Plus, you can buy some comics to read while you are eating. The free play video games are also a nice touch.
Nathan Teel
What a fun little hidden treasure. Friends introduced me to this place while I was visiting. I ended up going back two more times the next weekend I went down to visit GA. Their local draft selection is quite impressive, and I've not had anything from the menu I didn't enjoy. Also, the cookies are delicious!
Make sure you get a chance to visit the store to. The geeky memorabilia and comics selection is great.
Joshua Elek
My partner and I come here just about every Sunday for Brunch! A great place to get good food and drinks and even play a game or two. Excellent selection of pinball machines.
Be sure to check out their comics section on your way out!
Shane Remington
My favorite local bar. Food is great. Lots of beer taps. Comic book store is a plus. And I spend the majority big my time there playing pinball. You can try to beat my high score on Time Pilot if you think you have the chops 😉 …
Andrea Zoppo (Ms. Ladybug)
Very friendly staff with an easy and diverse menu. I like that they have vegan and gluten-free options. It's Fun to try new things on their menu. And of course the atmosphere is eclectic and interesting attracting all kinds of people.
Alexis Werner
Unique in-town pub that has become our go-to Friday night spot! It’s kid friendly, but definitely not a kids-only zone. Nice bar, friendly staff, excellent patio, and a wonderful variety of choices on the menu, including several vegan and vegetarian selections. Highly recommend!
Clint McMahan
Trendy and clean "Nerd Bar" If you like Comics, Superheroes, Dungeons & Dragons, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and let's not forget BEER!!! Then this place is a must for you and your friends. Browse comics, play pin-ball machines, try some microbrews and settle in for the evening by stacks and stacks of comic books or on the outdoor patio by a firepit. Either way, this place is definitely worth dropping in for a beer or two and just looking around or hanging out.
Rick De Michele
Fun place to catch a drink and a bite to eat. Comic hero's decor, bar has a nice height and overhang. The draft beers have large handwritten names above each brand that are easy to read. Then there are pinball machines (fee) and free Nintendo machines that will keep your interest and amusement skills going for hours.
All in all you can't go wrong by stopping in for a visit.
Warner Belanger
Good food and beer selection. Pinball machines and comic. Nice patio.
Ro Dennis, Realtor
The customer service is awesome! I stopped by for dinner with a friend after leaving the dog park with my furry baby! Parent Basement welcomed me and my furry baby and even served my baby fresh water in a dog bowl without me asking... Pet friendly atmosphere on the patio.
Adam Jones
Good pub food/beer! I just love that they have more than one vegan option(there were
7 apart from salads) and they're always delicious! tater tots ftw!
Marcel W. Foster
Fun, unique, and wonderful place to chill and party. Comfort food meets high quality. Nowhere else like it
Kari Lloyd
Quite frankly, my actual parent's basement was never this cool. Awesome staff and really great veggie/vegan options. Don't miss brunch on the weekend. I'm officially addicted to their biscuit sandwich and beet burgers! Perfect for kicking back while your husband plays pinball.
Michael Swain
First time and we will definitely return. My wife and I were looking for a place to play pinball and have a beer or two and this is the place. Great selection of beers and pinball machines. The dude tending bar was super nice and the Philly cheesesteak was great. We will be back.
John Shaw
"Your friendly neighborhood comic book bar" - That's really the only necessary comment that needs to be made. What's not to like about a place like this?!
Shrimp tacos were tasty. Good selection of "beers from around here" as well as "beers from somewhere else". I had Terrapin's Watermelon Gose, which was a perfect afternoon beer and a good pairing with my tacos.
rae powell
Love the atmosphere, really cool place to grab a drink and read through some comic books. Lots of pinball machines with fun themes. Drinks are very reasonable priced.
N T
Solid beer selection and good food at reasonable prices. They have a comic book store inside with a great selection. There are also a few multi-game arcade machines that are free, plus several pinball machines ($1 for one game, $2 for three games). This is the spot in Atlanta if you want to play some pinball.
Levi Woody
Where every body knows your name. Love this place. Great friendly atmosphere, was just my comic store and turned into my favorite bar. Can't say anything bad. Love the guys that work there.
Ashleigh D.
Great food, great service, and great comic options!
Bianka Binx
So this was a fun experience. I'm not into comics as others maybe but this place had comic books and old school arcade games in the rear of the building. Nice atmosphere. Service was ok. I had veggie tacos. They were tasty.
Lea Belanger Morash
Such an awesome place! Great food, great prices, and great people. Love it every time!
Sara Register
Awesome bar and restaurant! Something for everyone: interesting beverage selection, comics, pinball, special events. Food is creative and thoughtful. Owners are cool dudes! You can bring the whole family. Inside and outside seating. Free lot parking. Check it out!
Gavin Richards
Friendly staff and delicious food with plenty of room to spread out and play boardgames over a beer. There's always a great selection of local brews. Browsing the comics is always fun and the free arcade games are a great touch!
Steven Prior
Great indoor and outdoor ambience. Excellent local beer selection. Well organized comic books. Small but enjoyable figurine displays. Free comic book day was busy and fun, with many local artists offering free sketches.
Ynza Morgan Star
The only non-meat experience I've ever had that came close to capturing the Magic of Bacon is the Seitan they serve here! 10/10, will scarf again!
Steve Sargent (sargenttv)
So much fun (one star off for the janky atm which eats your $$). Great selection of pinball.
Brad Hardman
A whole lot of fun with the pinball games and old retro games! We love going there to get a beer and play some Mario!
Byron Love
Great scotch, whiskey, and beer selection with amazing prices, and probably one of the most comprehensive vegan alternative menus i have seen in a long time. Combine that with a true geek/nerd/fandom atmosphere, and you have a whole lot of awesome!
Thomas B
What a cool bar and comics shop. The food and beer were delicious. The staff wonderful. It's also very welcoming to activities not seen at your typical bar (e.g. people playing board games, a child randomly dressed as a Ghostbuster, etc.). Totally recommend checking it out!
Keith Bell
One of my favorite spots. Normally I have to just pop-in to get my comics and can't stay to eat or drink. When I can hangout the beer selection is great and the food is always satisfying. Comics + beer + pinball + good food = a great time.
Ryan Dempsey
This is one of my favorite spots in the Atlanta area. Great beer selection, Great food, and very friendly staff. Comic shop and massive amount of Pinball machines. They have a few arcade games as well. Trivia on Tuesday nights. If you buy comcis, you should become a comic subscriber here. You get 15% off! They take care of you, get you special orders and have an online system for your personalized pull list.
Sublime Issues
Foods really good and semi-affordable. Beer choices are always amazing and so are the craft cocktails. Great deals on back issues (Comics) and older keys. Wish I still lived in Decatur, so I could go there more often.
Justin Groseclose
My Parents Basement is definitely a gamer bar. That includes all ideas about gamers. They sell comics, have pinball machines, and groups regularly meet there to play D&D. It is a great place. Additionally their food is good and their beer selection is big. When they are busy parking can be a bit hard to find. I'd definitely recommend this space to older (18+) gaming groups primarily.
Kenneth Rivard
The food is well prepared with an interesting variety on the menu, such as the BBQ kimchi sandwich. A very good selection of beer on tap. Free-to-play video games, some cool pinball machines and a comic shop round it all off make it the place to be especially if you are a part of nerdom culture.
Jackelyn Belcher
There are many reasons I love this spot! Reason 1 - it's laid back so a great spot to bring your family/kids. 2. AWESOME patio that is covered and has heaters so perfect for winter or summer! 3. Best beer selection! They are always rotating their drafts so there is always a new beer to try. 4. Arcade games and comic books inside which are fun to play and check out. 5. Food is good and comes out quickly which is important when you have littles with short attention spans.
Jessica Plante
great service and good for groups. nice to hang out at and buy comics, play board games, etc. food is okay, although I only ever order burgers. great beer list.
Krys Villian
10/10 replay ! They have pinball tournies and comicbooks. And if your just like the nerd aesthetic but like beer then they have great local drafts ! I recommend trying the Monday Night Brevis and Bretthead Sour beer on draft and try your hand at their Street Fighter II arcade game. If beer and comics aren't your thingthey also have really food and a amazing staff!
GeorgiaOnTap
Nerd out. Big Funko selection with the comics. Great beer selection. Tetras tots! You read that right.
Just about Jazz
Cool place. Great prices. Good food and menu choices. Shrimp and grits was only like $11! It was good but my shrimp were very salty. I still ate it all though.
Travis “Flight School Captain” Turner
Good service, Great draft list, Great Food, better action figures.
Craig Harkins
Great atmosphere. Comfort food fitting with the parents basement theme. Free 80s video games (Dig Dug!) and a comic book shop.
Good beer selection along with cocktails.
Mishca Miu
Friendly Staff great atmosphere
Bought some comics for my daughter..
Good was amazing too! Will be back!
Jon Flash
Great place for kids. Large patio, free board games to play, pinball and free arcade games inside and a comic book store. Also the food and beer is great!
The fried green tomatoes are some of the best.
Alex Edwards
I give it 2 stars for the food and the 3rd star is for the pinball machines. The kimchi is not good, so don't order it. The food is still fairly priced; everything hovers around $10. Our food took about 45 minutes to come out. The beer selection is okay. At least it's not all IPAs. I would like to come back for a few beers and pinball, but I don't think I'll be eating here again. Overall it's a cool place if you're a geeky college student, but I quit college now I'm just a geek and the pinball recovers a shred of that joy I felt as a kid. Back to a time when my dad took me to a bar to cheat on my mom and gave me five dollars to play on the pinball machine, which bought enough games to keep me occupied for what felt like hours. I scored millions of points, and reaped the bonuses, causing the steel spheres to convulse amongst the torturous chaos of the machine; a perfect illustration of my role in parents' marriage. This time, I wept, for I knew nothing of my own innocence, and neither did they. Did you know you could get cancer from HPV? Did you Mom, Dad?
Suzan
Great beer selection (rotating) with knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. Small but eclectic menu. Comics! Arcade area with pinball noises and kids, but it all works together.
Lisa Bi
Service kind ,quick and attentive. Foods....okay just get the sides or nachoes sandwiches will leave you wanting more. Drinks cheap and delicious. Atmosphere... one of your table is a pac man game so you tell me. Bring board games or read a comic or play pinball.
Colin Johnson
Don't be turned off by the location. Being stuck between Decatur and Avondale states keeps some of the riff raff out of this place. It's got a laid back vibe with pinball machines, excellent art devoted to comic book heroes, and a killer beet burger. The patio is partially covered for winter and a great place to bring your dog in the summer. The staff couldn't be friendlier and parking is free and usually plentiful.
Luca Maddaleni
Excellent atmosphere, food was good and the pinball machines are cool and modern. Also a selection of free to play arcade cabinets as well. Service could be a little better but it was slammed when we got there so it was fine for me.
Pulp Fanthirtythree
The beer and cider selection is great. I'm glad to see solid representation of many local breweries. Good comic selection for the size. Small plates but I've liked all that I've tried. Fun, laidback atmosphere.
chris dyar
Very cool spot, especially if you have little ones. There are tons of comic books to look at and purchase if you choose while you wait. They have old school arcade machines that are free to play. My 4 year old had a blast, he found a Venom comic that he wanted to buy. We told him he had to wait until after he ate, he spent the whole time worrying that someone else was going to buy it first. I had the CBJB and it was very good, just not enough bacon. So if you order that, do yourself a favor and add extra bacon. The wife had the kimchi bbq, fantastic! And my son went for the corn dogs, another win. They also have a small selection of local brews and other cocktails should you feel so inclined. All in all excellent choice for lunch with a different, but very cool atmosphere. We took a 40min drive to get there and it was worth it.
Dana Gunter
A bar and restaurant you can bring the entire family to. Free arcade games, $1 pinball machines (eight or nine total). Huge craft beer selection. Menu items also cater to vegans. Patio is dog-friendly.
A P
This is a cool place to come drink a beer and play arcade games. I like it better than Joystick, which is closer to my place. I never had a chance to play D'n'D Shadow of Mystara when it came out, but there it was, set to free play. Fun time! The fireplaces on the porch are cool too. Staff is laid back. My only gripe is that the food menu is a bit odd, and the portions are just a little small. I don't really go there for meals because I am poor and can't afford to buy two things to get full. The ice coffee and salads are... definitely...hmm... There seems to be a lot of instances where they try to make something unique, and a single ingredient throws off the recipe with these menu items. The kids grilled cheese with some kimchee on the side is a good cheap choice though. In summary, if you come here for drinks and games, it's a chill place and you're gonna have a good time.
Cara Pierce
Laid back atmosphere, excellent pinball. Don't bring quarters - each play is $1.
Andrew Kehn
Comics, Pinball, great brew selection, attentive staff, and great atmosphere. From the burgers to the saitan, cashew butter stawberry jam & bacon to the mac and cheese; food is above par for a corner bar.
It's the man cave/she shed any nerd would build themselves, but now you don't have to.
Garrett Groff
Best beer selection and service I've had in a long while. Great atmosphere, especially if you have kids to bring along. If you're not into having kids around don't worry, they're out of the way at the bar. Get the pimento foot long! Wow.
Aaron Moffett
Great beer selection, fun atmosphere and pretty good food.
Vincent Goard
Favorite place to have a casual lunch or dinner with my family or geeky friends. The food is good, there is plenty of pop culture to talk about all over the shelves and walls, and the comic book selection is impressive for how big the place is!
Joe Mitchell
I'm sad that I only just found out about this place! We drove there from midtown. Really good pub food; huge place with plenty of outdoor seating as well; tons of comics and knick knacks; but most importantly, the pinball machines!!!!!!!!!!! I guess they have a good selection of beers but we don't drink.
Shane Helton
Average bar food at best. Comic books are a neat novelty here where most comic book stores have died off. If you're looking for a patio to drink outside, this place has you covered.
Camille Sabino
Great atmosphere and great food. Love the variety of comic book selection. I enjoyed reading or browsing and eating with my significant other all at the same time. The staff was helpful and great.
Wes Highsmith
Always a great place to eat!
Erika Withers
I like the atmosphere and the concept of My Parents Basement. I would definitely steer clear of the food though. I suppose food is not the point of this place which is concentrated on comic books and craft brews. I for one was sick for 5 days after having their Bahn mi and am in no mood to repeat the experience.
Glenn Rollins
I just love this place. It makes the geek in me feel totally at home. Wish we had one in Charlotte, NC! Their menu is full of local drafts (ask for what's not on the menu), meads & wines. The menu is mostly typical pub food with a twist on almost every item. The Toasted CBJB (pronounce it "kehbeh jehbeh," they seem to like that) is great, I ordered it both times I was there with a side of tots. I love the action figures attached to the light fixtures, the old school video games, comic book, and toy selection. They also have board games to play for free if you'd rather just hang out with friends and a draft. Good times!

We came for brunch so it was relatively busy and I can completely understand if service is a tad slow. What I find unacceptable is laziness. If you are new and unsure about something on the menu, totally understand! All you have to do is ask a colleague. Not a drinker and unsure how to answer a question, no prob! Ask the bartender. However, when your response is literally “I don’t know” and the unspoken thought “don’t ask anymore questions” is written on your face I have a huge problem. I asked about two different drinks because the menus that were originally given to us did not provide drink descriptions. Our server literally said he “didn’t know” and never followed-up with “let me check”, “sorry, I’m not a drinker but let me ask the bartender”, “what kind of drinks do you like? I can ask the bartender for recommendations”, etc. Nope, none of that. So I ended up with terrible Bloody Mary and more than three-fourths of it was left when he came by to clean up the table. My wife ended up with the wrong beer, but she had waited 15 minutes and decided it wasn’t worth saying anything. Oh, and after our drink orders were placed he brought us menus with drink descriptions...that could have saved al of us a headache and money. I ordered the egg-in-a-hole. The dish itself was really flavorful, but there was far too much pimento cheese used. Since it’s baked onto the bread there is not a way to remove the excess. I’m a vegetarian and was extremely excited to find a new restaurant, but Im not sure our experience can justify a 30 minute drive back here.
Ronald Williams
The food and drinks (the peanut butter stout was amazing) great but the best part was the atmosphere. Coming during comic trivia that was focused on black history was a fun and intriguing experience.
Tiffany Townsend
Great food and service. I didn't have any alcohol so I can't comment on that. Our whole staff stopped by for lunch and they let us rearrange the furniture to sit together. Our food came out as quick as could be expected and was served with a smile. And the decor is amazing!

First, let me preface by saying this is more of a 3.5 stars. This place is great for families. Our waitress was was very kind and accommodating to all the children out on the patio on a Friday night. She even built a small play area for them in the corner using the giant Jenga pieces. She was still attentive to our needs while doing so.
The beer here is solid with many options of local brews...I was surprised to see Creature Comforts on tap, the Amber, which I tried. They also have some local Decatur beers as well. The ambiance was nice, relaxing. Cool little comic book store in the corner of the restaurant, if you're into that sort of thing, along with video games in the corner to keep the kiddos busy.
The food. It was subpar for the price. We got the calamari to start...skimpy portion and bland aioli for dipping. They try to beef up the basket with fries and fried jalapenos, for $10 its nowhere near the caliber it should, stay away. The shrimp poboy was decent, $10, more bread than anything though. Same can be said about the cheesesteak, which was $13, total ripoff. It looked like a few straps of shoe leather on whole baguette. No onions, peppers, mushrooms, or anything of the like. Wait...there might of actually been some cheese hiding in there somewhere, you'll spend more time chewing all the bread than enjoying your time there. STAY AWAY from the cheese steak. Pesto pasta dish, overpriced to say the least. It looked good but was bland. Saving the best for last, brings ya to the, what I call, a fancy sloppy joe. Very tasty indeed, was the pulled pork kimchi ($10).
All in all its a fine place to take the family and enjoy some overpriced fried food. We'll go back but probably stick to the chicken fingers. You can't mess that up right?
Shadwanda R
First time visiting and it was a very comforting and friendly environment. Loved the pinball machines and the overall feel of the place. Nice and simple menu. Great for a group outing as well.
John Underwood
Love this place. Staff is always friendly. Great comic selection, small retro arcade in the back. I have only had drinks here, but will try the food one day
Michael Robinson
Great bar with a nerdy vibe. You can buy comics and toys here too. My buddies and I love to game at this bar. It's nerdy enough that you can play whatever games you want without drawing any weird side eyes from the other patrons
Jim Burnett
I was digging it. It's a bar with a Comic Book Shop in it. Food was good menu is kind of small. Even got free play retro video games
Joe Nolan
This place is cool. Great theme, food, drink and service. We were given well thought out recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, including buying some comics.
David Martin
If you have any geeky tendencies, this is the place for you. Video games, most free except for pinball, comics, and killer draft list and good selection of alcohol. The food is also very good. A nice place to hangout, very casual as you'd imagine.
T. DUMAS
I felt like a kid again! I love this place
Kamile Rose
I enjoyed the food...the spinach and goat cheese salad with candied pecans was yummy, and oh my the bread pudding was definitely a hit. the servers are warm and engaging. Highly recommend this spot.
Fred Peters
Great bartenders. Great comics. A terrible combination for my bottom line. The best combination for my state of mind.
Daniel Timmers
Great spot for craft beer and creative bar food. The prices are also really good for how exceptional the quality is of everything. MPB is on my short list of recommendations to anyone native to Atlanta or visiting
Carlo Mencarelli
Awesome staff and amazing decor. I honestly wish I found this place earlier so I could come multiple times on my trip. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. The beer is great and the food is really delicious.
Jesse Brand
Place seems okay, but the food wasn’t worth going back for. Beer selection lacking
Joshua Spivey
Holy tap dancing deities, this place is wondrous! Had the JJ Burger (pickled red onions for the win) and some pimento cheese toast that the wife and I decided, after two bites, was some the best pimento cheese we've ever had. Got my butt kicked at the Iron Maiden pinball table while my wife oppositely kicked butt at the Guardians of the Galaxy pinball table. Browsed the comics and wonderful merchandise. Being a 40 yeard old video game collector and comic book reader it was like being a kid in the candy shop. We shall be coming back many a time.
Daniel Pirkl
Really good pinball! Much better selection of comics than last time I came a year ago! And good pub food + 29 beer taps w/ lots of local breweries.
Cooper van Rossum
Great place to bring your kids of any age. Pinball and arcade games in the back - comic book store-no TVs.
Outdoor patio is wonderful.
most importantly: BEST NACHOS IN ATL.
William Carroll
Very eclectic establishment. I loved the comic book motif. The place actually has a comic book store on the premises...Nostalgic video games too. The food was pretty good as well. Looking forward to returning.
Bill Cutts
Great curated selection of craft beer. I hadn't been in a while and the menu had expanded and refined a bit - goid selection of well execured bar food. Comic Books, Burgers & Beer - it's geek heaven
Devin McCrea
This place has to be what Heaven looks like after you pass. Food, drink...nerd culture? Count me in. Tell them Devin sent you. Chances are that won't mean a thing to them, but it's always cool to walk into a place and say someone sent you. Like you are on a top secret mission or something, and your mutual contact agreed to a seriously awesome place to swap intel. I'd even suggest cracking open the briefcase full of gazillion dollar bills and throwing a few towards the shop for some sweet comics and other items. Gonna need entertainment on the private jet when you fly back to get debriefed.
I swear I don't work here. I just really loved the place and the people were very sweet. And I haven't had my morning coffee yet. Apologies.
Jessica Bryan
Realized my vacation fell on free comic book day and found this spot through the FCBD website. It was everything I could have hoped for. Amazing food, great draft selection of local and not local craft beers, video games, and comics. Will visit again whenever I'm in Atlanta.
richard tarantino
This iconic comic book/bar/restaurant/hangout does everything well. I've been here for a midweek lunch time burger and pinball and it's always lively andbinhad a good time and a good.meal.
Today I felt compelled to write because I ordered the spaghetti and house made meat balls and was blown away. I was raised on my Sicilian grandmother's meatballs in North Beach San Francisco. I think they have her back there in the kitchen...
You know how food can take you back to a memory. I was a kid again, mopping up every bit of sauce on my plate "Or else!"
Michael Stippich
Good food and good beers also they have a nitro Brew on draft which I always enjoy. If you are one who enjoys playing super smash don't forget that the first Sunday of every month is when they host their tournament
Aidan Brack
The idea of a combination comic book store and gastropub is a strong one and I am happy to say My Parent's Basement is a good example of both.
The comics selection is decent with good space devoted to issues of titles from the major publishers. Their children's comic selection is pretty good too, though those titles are all mixed in together on a spin display.
Next to this area are a set of 6 arcade machines that guests can play at no charge.
The real star for me though was the food and drinks selection. We started out with the pimento toast which came out like an open-faced sandwich. It was rich and delicious - my toddler wanted one all to herself.
I had the kimichi bbq sandwich, my wife had the shrimp po boy and the toddler had the grilled cheese. Both of the grown up meals were excellent though those items were milder than you might expect from the description (the remoulade in the po boy in particular). The grilled cheese was pretty standard though the Tetris tots were a huge hit.
Service was smooth and food came out pretty quickly. All in all this was a great lunch at a good price and I can see us making the drive over here again.
Nathan Wilson
What's not to like great food, people, and a ton of beers. This is my new favorite bar! The staff is awesome and the laid back environment is second to none. I would definitely recommend you check it out.
jenn schauer
Service was mediocre. Food pretty good. The pinball machines were very fun! I would go back to give it another whirl. I'd try for something else to eat and hope for a different waiter.
Brittany Griffeth
My friends and I come here often with small twins, there is always room for all of us, the staff is amazing and always helpful. The food is great! Atmosphere is wonderful, we can't get enough of this place!
Richard Anderson
Unexpected. Walked in with a buddy and ended up playing pinball for over an hour and a half. They also have comics and collectables, D&D as well.
Shannon O'Connor
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants! What isn't there to love about comics, craft beer, and a vegetarian friendly menu?
Psst.. Try the beat burger. You won't regret it.
Phil Mann
Comfortable and fun nerdy bar with a comic book shop and half a dozen pinball machines. Friendly staff serving draft beers, a modest wine selection and American bar food and desserts.
Patricia Pichardo
Decent comic book shop and decent bar. Not bad on either end but not a fantastic execution at either. But there are no other comic book stores near the city open past 8pm so great for your late comic book needs and a nice place to hang with friends and even read.
Vijay Alagarraj
Unique place: bar with comic books🙌 definitely ton of beer options to select from both draft and bottle / can. Nacho I got was bad but others in my group had burger and Philly sandwich were good. …
Tiffany York-Vargas
Always love going here. The food and service is always good. They've got a pretty good alcohol selection and can get in some pinball and get some reading material.
Ahead
The food ain't too special, but it's a pretty solid spot, decent service, and the arcade/comic area is hella dope. Highly recommended for any video game or comic nerds.
Christina Collandra
Awesome gamer bar with a great pub, lots of drafts some ciders and a lot of local stuff. Comic book store in the front. Choice pinball machines. Free classic cabinet games and board games!
Natasha Lynne
I loved it. The ambiance was awesome. Service was a bit slow but it was busy for the amount of staff present. I really enjoyed the food. The owner grows some of the vegetables himself. Would definitely visit again.
Michelle Mindala

Fun, quirky, comic book culture local bar with great draft beers! We like to grab a beer here and play some of the pin ball games when we get a chance.
Nicholas Carter
Best currently trendy beer list in the ATL! Food is basic but delicious for what it is..super friendly staff. Oh yea and they sell a bunch of comic books / pop culture stuff too! Best nerd bar in the ATL. They know their craft beer.

Logos Emre
Good beer selection, and cozy interior. But I actually came here to work on an academic paper in their outside patio, warmed by two fireplaces. Thanks to decent coffee and courteous service, it went great.
Lexi
Great spot with an interesting theme. Had the breakfast biscuit and it was delicious. Middle American comfort food. Great atmosphere and a small but good comic book selection.
HG Braf
Always a pleasurable experience visiting this place. They have made the the process of ordering food so accommodating especially during these times.
C Mac
Funky comic book / bar & restaurant! Great food and drinks. Do try the tetris tots, OMG! you really can play with your food as an adult ! 😀 They have a large patio great for large group and several video games in the back of the comic book shop. Just a unique spot in Avondale Estates, check them out! …
Amy Plasman
Every time I come here, I am impressed with the food and beer selections! Seasonal veggies, local brews, great atmosphere, great service . It is a real bar's bar--dark wood and stone everywhere , great patio.
Nicole O Johnson
literally my new favorite hang out spot. such a cool place and staff is so nice. i will be back in the future for more comic books and games!
marirosa hofmann
Vegan gyro was great. They make the vegan gyro meat so thin and tasty. Hard to find a vegan or vegetarian gyro. And theirs is great!! And beets good and the tots are super crispy. Will be back asap
Kenni York
My honey and I had our first meet up here. This place will always hold sentimental value for me...I also have my business' quarterly meetings here. Drinks are great and food is fresh and awesome always!
Lex
Food was great. Service was fast. Awesome game and comic selection. Wish they had more cocktail choices but the drink I had was still A+.
Miles Bondurant
I like MPB. We call it the Nerd Bar. Drinks are good and so is the atmosphere. The food is the only thing I would say is hit or miss. The CBJB is consistently really good. But some of the other stuff feels like it is trying a little too hard for my taste.
Julie Lane
Great place to hang out. Some healthier menu options. Really cool vibe plus comics and arcade games. The staff are wonderful.
Troy Green
Cool spot with pretty good food and interesting folks to talk to. Staff is always friendly. If you're into comics or anything nerdy, this is your spot.
Fole Gailor

Hey, it's comic book pub...what's not to like! Great beer selection, GF and veg options on the menu. The tempeh tacos are awesome!! Special events frequently.
Average Experience Gaming
Awesome food!. Great options for food and drink.
Erin Jean Santini
This place is so cool and so chill with great drinks and food and a super cool comic book store! Lots of pinball machines and arcade games. Great for kids too!
Kira Steinberg
LEGENDARY TOTS. Knowing I am incredibly sensitive to fried food, one June evening I chose to eat these tots even knowing the consequences. The ensuing 4 day migraine which ended with a shot in the tush at urgent care was WORTH IT for the tots. Their drink & draw events are also a great event!
Jessica Ruiz
Great food and great vibe. Please visit this place with your friends and play some pinball! Also has a comic book nook to peruse if you're into that.
Erin Hennessy
Staff could be more friendly or more helpful, and the food could be better, but it has a great outdoor seating that is dog friendly, and a great beer selection.
Evan Chagnon
Only played Pinball there. Had 7 or 8 Pinball machines and all were in working condition. Didn't have any food as I was only passing through. Will definitely stop by again when I am in the area.
Chris Bass
Staff is always really friendly. A great and wide selection of beers. And all the pinball machines are a lot of fun!
Ron Smith
Self-pro·claimed "geek bar" in Avondale Estates, featuring comics, pinball machines, good food, and drinks. Super beer selection. My fav meals are the Philly, quesadilla, and the tempah tacos. Veggie specials.
T Fink
Great atmosphere and tap list! A wide selection of board games to play there. Their food has improved immensely since when they first opened!
Joshua Underwood
Really cool idea, but food is mediocre and selection of graphic novels is limited. Great selection of single issues, if that's your thing.
Danielle Thomas
I went for the first time last night. Such a cool place! I spent hours there. My favorite game was Stranger Things
Renán O'Dugan
Lovely comic shop with fantastic cafe and bar. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful, and they had my comic in stock the day it released which was handy because I was in vacation and couldn't bear to miss it!
Elise Eigher
Great beer, delicious food, and a fantastic atmosphere. They have video games and pinball, and a nice collection of comics for sale!
Patrick Hedden
The bartenders and owners have treated me like a daily regular since the first time I walked in the door. If you have a bad experience here, it's probably because you brought the bad mojo with you. Good times, great people, free video games, comic books, weekly nerd trivia. Can't lose.
Juan Vargas
An amazing burger with tons of flavor. The place is also very cool with retro video games and pinball machines. Looking forward to repeating the experience.
Timothy Schmitt
Great food, nice drink selection, and tons of graphic novels! Also has a few old school arcade games (free to play) and pinball machines. It's basically what dreams are made of. 👍 …
Brent Sattelmeier
Hip, nerdy decor in a converted space that includes a bar, outdoor seating, classic pinball machines, and a shop that sells things such as collectibles, comics, and graphic novels. The food is pretty good, but on the pricey side, and the service is often very slow. They have weekly events like trivia too.
Trent Vigar
Very very tasty food, great beer selection, and really neat atmosphere, but the service was super slow so don't go for dinner if you're in a hurry.
Jonathan Bryan
Cool place, bar, restaurant, pinball arcade, and comic shop all in one.

Angie McAdam
Adorable bar and comic book shop. Great food with lots of vegan options and a full bar. The vegan corn dogs are so tasty!
B Richeous
Amongst evacuating Florida during Matthew, we stumbled into ATL. Which led to us stumbling into this fine establishment. I was actually googling local comic shops when I found them. Not only did I get the trade books I was seeking but also a solid meal, great atmosphere and wonderful service. Thanks Brandie and company for making our stay in Atlanta that much better.
Chaz Johnson
Good food. They have free games if pinball isn’t your thing. Friends and kids love it.
A P
Very nice place enjoy what other places will not offer
Comics, great food, plenty to do even arcade
Allen Kim
If you're into comics, pinball, vintage arcade, beer, or cosplay then you'll love MPB. Just make sure that you clarify with your friends that it's not your actual parents basement.... I get the bbq kimchi sandwich and the beet burger is super popular. They usually run trivia and gaming tourneys here too.
Scott Kent
Really interesting place. Restaurant, comic book store, and a retro arcade. The food was good. Good selection of beverages. Friendly staff.

Joe D
Cool place. I have been to places that have pinball machines in various stages of disrepair. This is not one of those places. Food and drinks were good as well.
Suzanne Miller
We had a large group that overwhelmed the wait staff. Understandable. Food not good. Chicken quesadilla was chicken inside with drizzled cheese on top. No flavor.

Steve Sargent
Comics, pinball, burgers, 80s music, what else could you possibly need?
T L
Good wait staff, good fries, good drafts. Food offerings are expensive and strange looking. For example, kimchi is offered as a side with no other Korean fare. Not even rice!
Laurie Israel
Good vibe. Great beer selection, good food and love the free 70s video games. Looking forward to enjoying the patio with fireplaces going this fall.

Peto Fallas
Not the healthiest food. Carnival, comfort food. Why 4 stars ? The decor , outside patio , al fresco eating, dog friendly.
Bryan Benefield
It's either the best comic book store with a bar in it or the best bar with a comic book store in it.
C Papillon
Great beer selection, but food is SLOW. I ordered brunch 45 minutes ago and it just got here. Tasty omelette, though.
