This is probably one of my favorite places to visit for thrillers. They also have a really good clearance section. Unfortunately the staff isn’t very friendly, but on todays visit , a young lady by the name of Tessa was so pleasant. This was the first time I had seen her before. Her attitude was lovely as soon as I opened the door. I hope to see her on future visits.

I love this location - the employees are incredibly friendly (and funny!) and answer any and all questions I had about trading in my books and other items. They gave me an offer so quickly that I was able to just stick around and browse their books until they called me back over. They also have a good selection of classics and more obscure books for really good prices. My favorite place to look for books!

Everyone was so friendly! I went into the store to sell a few business textbooks for classes that I am finished with and they offered me a good amount of money for them. I definitely will be coming back in the future and they have a great selection of books/vinyl records/cds & a lot of other things.

HPB store is well organized by genre and authors. The staff is knowledgeable and ready to help. The books are fairly priced and in mostly good condition. There are other media that you can get like vinyl, CDs, DVDs, memorabilia etc. The book catalog is available online. There is free parking available and stores are now open until 8 PM 6 days a week. It's a good place to get gifts for book lovers and self proclaimed nerds :)

This was my first visit, and I hope to go back. I thought they had a good selection of many different genres plus they have DVDs. I wound up picking up two books today. The young lady who checked me out was very friendly, as was the other workers in the store who all said hello as I walked past them. I wish they had a bigger horror section, but I know they are at the whim of what people turn in.

They buy and sell books, video games, consoles, DVDs, blue rays, records, board games, puzzles, comics, and some toys. There’s not many places in Atlanta that do this and I can’t imagine they can do it as quickly as Half Price Books. It’s very similar, but on a smaller scale, to what McKays (in Tennessee) does. You will not get the best value for your things, in my opinion, but the evaluation is very quick and convenient. I like this place because they help the items that sell off find a new home. They sell a few Nintendo DSs and games and that’s worth noting

I turned in CDs and DVDs for sale, and the sales clerk when she explained to me about how much money I would get depending on how they were and if they were wanted by buyers. I looked around for 15 minutes, and received $4.06, which wasn't a surprise, since the CDs were pretty old. Salespeople and other employees were nice and friendly.

First off, the restroom was SURPRISINGLY clean, even more so than most hotels I've been to... The selection of books was fantastic and I will fully recommend this little shop to anyone in the market. There's also a decent selection of vintage gaming gear, including PSP games! You can also sell old books to the store if you're interested in that avenue.

Still one of my favorite stores to recycle books games knick knack pieces and so much more I even bought a couple of books some like the uniform commercial code and black slot dictionary the black clock dictionary book is a hundred and fifty dollars online I got it for $30 here the uniform commercial code book is about $200 online I was able to get it for 10 they won me over

It's an actual bookstore with actual books! Largely remaindered and used but really pretty solid. They've a solid selection of cds, lps, and dvds. They even have laser discs! They've a discount section too.

I bought several great bibles here, they have a killer Bible section, also you can get Korans, if you're into that thing, or you're into that type of thing. You can also sell your books to them, and I believe they'll give you store credit, or sometimes even cash for your books, they also sell playstations and game consoles, which I thought was a little bit weird for a bookstore, but I guess, get your hustle on; Furthermore, they have a 1001 Arabian nights, the book; It's about 50 bucks.

I love books! It was great being in my local bookstore. And this place gave me that down home local bookstore feel. Perfect size and great organization of books and material. I should have asked if they take donated books...because I have so many. Well, if you are ever in the area, this store is located on Decatur Road in the plaza next to Wal-Mart. Their selection is fantastic, and you can always find a deal. You can also bring your pet inside with you (assuming they're well-behaved). Love love love this place!

Half Price Books is a awesome place! The common thread in any of them that I have been in is the organization and layout. I want to buy more books and I would buy more books but while the staff is very friendly when you check out I still feel like I'm on my own when it comes to finding things. It's like the staff seems unapproachable or can't really direct me to where in the inventory at I can find certain things. Of course my tastes are someone obscure at times when it comes to certain books I'm looking for but it would be nice if the past there was alphabetized and more direct. Great prices though and while unapproachable a friendly staff.

Nice bookstore with a wide range of books, movies and dvd's. The staff is polite and helpful. The only negative is you get back a tiny amount for the items you sell to them. I read large print books I'll donate them instead.

Huge selection of books! No doubt you can find a really good deal on almost any used book your looking for. Because the books are used, I'd keep that in mind since some might have annotations from previous owners. But the workers were nice, and they have more than just books! You can find vinyl, VHS tapes (funny I know), CDs, DVDs and more! Definitely come by and check this place out!

Awesome used bookstore. This place has all kinds of things from books to game boards to movies and smaller kids activities. You can sell your used media here and sign up for their email list to get coupons and event info. I enjoy this particular location because it has a wide selection, friendly customer service, and the option for them to check their inventory at other locations and to order it for you. There aren't too many shops like this around anymore and I think it's a great place to find new (gently used) treasures. I've also sold things here several times and find the process painless.

Nearly guaranteed to find whatever books you're looking for, even if you search specifically for a decently well-known title as the place is very organized and put-together. They mandate masks in their store, which is wonderful. It seems that I've discovered a hidden treasure with the wide selection to choose from!

They currently are limiting your shopping time to 30 minutes. I had never seen such a sign in any retail business since Covid started, and thought it was a great idea. They also request customers to wear a mask. Once in line for check out, there is a circle on the floor, indicating where to stand in order to keep a safe distance from the customer at the register. I purchased two gently used children's board books this time, but in the past I have purchased board books, cookbooks and new puzzles.

I discovered this gem of a used book store while running errands in Suburban Plaza. What amazed me the most was the high quality of used books and the excellent prices, usually in the range of a 50-75% discount to the cover price. In addition to used books, the store features a wide variety of CDs and vinyl records. I highly recommend this store for hours of browsing, accompanied by a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Awesome used book store! Having lived in Texas where I had several close to me, it sucks to have to drive 4 hrs from Charlotte NC to get here. But I still do! Bathrooms are always clean, and the people are always friendly. I love this place! Definitely worth your time to visit!

This is a really great used bookstore. I've been looking for a used bookstore that's organized, reasonably priced, and MARTA accessible since I moved here and I'm glad to say that I finally found one. I primarily buy computer science books, which can get expensive even when buying used. My purchases so far have been roughly on par with or even cheaper than Amazon for the same titles. They were in better condition than the cheapest offerings from Amazon; there was no highlighting, the covers and spines are clean and intact, and there's no water damage in any of the books I've bought. The customer service is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. They don't pay much for books if you're selling them; I got $2 for a fairly recent (2015) book in great condition. But if I were concerned about getting the most money from reselling it, I would have sold it on Amazon. I just wanted to free up some space on my shelf and use the credit to offset the cost of something else that caught my eye.

I love this location! I feel like they do a better job of pricing when it comes to buys from the community and I feel that they also have a staff that knows what their community wants. I have never felt like an unwanted bother here with a pile of "crap". Even their offers that I have felt we're too low were not met with an awkward departure. I have always been treated with respect. We loved it! My daughter has Down Syndrome and she LOVED it. She loves to read. 20.00 get you two hand fulls of books! Have VHS and cassettes and vinaly records from the good ole days. Oh even board games as well new video games. Those looking for Christian books and bibles they Have too. I found the bible on audio which I been looking for a while at a decent price.

This is a great used book store with incredibly reasonable pricing. Like any used book store the selection is based on what the buyer has bought. I check multiple sections and found a range of options. They have a great selection of comics and gifts. I found some great books that were reasonably priced. Check this place out before you spend full price on a book. The staff are friendly and helpful. Great place to find your next favorite book.

Half Price Books is a fun store. Used, and some new, books, music (albums, cds), games, toys, posters. Lots of cute interesting things for kids and adults. Well organized by topic. You can always find something you want! Selling books is easy & they'll give any the don't want to buy to charity IF YOU WANT. You don't get much for your books, unless they are sought after books, like recently published best sellers or the books in a series when a new one'spublished, or if it's popular because it's in the news or the author recently passed away.

If you have books you'd like to sell or are looking for books or games that might be out of print, this is your place. Selling is no hassle. They can donate books for you that they won't buy and will even recycle the box you in which you bring the books. They take your name and you can browse while they tally up what they will pay for your old books. Their prices are better than a lot of other places I've been. I have even found out of print table top RPGs and books numerous times. Everyone is helpful and inviting and, if you have the time, their clearance section is a treasure trove, though not a terribly organized one. But as a book lover, I hardly mind combing through titles to find something I think I'll love.

The name Half Price Books rings fairly true as far as their pricing goes. Their selection also includes comics, vinyl records and video games/ consoles (limited used selection on the games and consoles but some old ones you may not be able to find at other stores) The staff was extremely nice and courteous. The reason I would not give this overall interesting and unique store 5 stars has to do with the layout of the books. The store doesn't have a very efficient system to easily locate books or if they do it wasn't kept up or easy to navigate. When I asked if they had a certain book they looked it up on the computer and said they had 1 copy and gave me the general genre area to locate the book, however if I wanted them to look for it I needed to come back tomorrow to purchase it to give them time to locate it. That tells me that there is an extremely inefficient system in place or one that isn't kept up with. Overall though an interesting store to stop in if your in the area.

The story has a decent selection of titles but it is most items that were resold to the store, so it's limited. You have to go to the store directly and you cannot search the location online to see if they carry a title you want. The reselling of books to this company is somewhat shady. The price they quote you is farless then what you would get if you sold it online yourself. And many people have complained online about there buy back policy and pricing methods. Overall the store is good in its clean, organized and features local authors and events. Again my 3 star rating is based on the small selection they carry, their buy back service and some difficulty in finding a titles at the store when you are searching for something.

I have sold books to video games to them, honestly they will in most cases give you something but I would say it's a last resort. I have some video games and books in my trunk that I have been driving around for months with and just couldn't find buyers for so when I end up in the parking lot of the plaza I was okay with getting some money from them. If you are selling your college textbooks here do it within the last week of finals to get the most money you can like most college buyback shops. On the hand of finding a ton of books, records, dvds, video games and etc. you can possibly find them at an okay price. Don't know if I can recommend them for buying more than a hanging out place where you can read a bunch of cool books.

Good store. Always find a decent title somewhere in religion, linguistics, poetry, or even better in my all time favorite genre: DISCOUNT! There's a weird situation with the music in there that has almost driven me out of the store. Sounds like another ridiculously loud sound-system is booming in from another store adjacent to Half Price Books. Who knows.

For me, the location is great, because Walmart, Home Goods, Joann's and Ross is in the same location, so you can get more than one thing accomplished. As for Half Priced Books, they have a great selection of vinyl, CD's, DVDs, books, collectables, sound equipment and writing journals pens, cards. You can clean out your house of old music, movies collectables and bring them in. I did last year and made a pretty penny. The store is nice, clean, very organized. Staff very friendly and always helpful. Traffic can be bad sometimes, don't stress, Marta buses stop regularly and the Decatur train station is close by.

Best book store ever. I'm an avid comic reader and collector. Mindeesa just spent 20 minutes looking for a comic for me over the phone. The professionalism and true care she had shown me sets the standard. Aaron is the other truly amazing person I look forward to greet every week. The man is kind, generous, and always has something cool for me to look through. These people are the best. Everyone should check out the store, always has great stuff and hidden gems.

I really love this store! I do tend to go broke in there however! The majority of the staff is knowledgeable and friendly (only met one worker who I can't say that about). Their book selection is wonderful for both new and used books. Plus they also have so many wonderful collectable items. Not to also mention alot of CDs, Tapes, and records.

I found a book about nudibranchs here for $5. Couldn’t be happier. Pretty much cleaned out their nature section. They were kind enough to offer me some boxes and a cart to take my treasures to the car. 10/10 would shop again.

This was only partially true, as there was a wide selection of games, they were all clumped together, and it just wasn't what I was expecting. If they were to expand this section even a little bit I'd enjoy it much more.

Not only is there an incredible selection of books, DVDs, music and video games here, but if you wish to sell them your stuff, they offer you cash. This is unlike 2nd and Charles, which offers you a higher value if you elect to take it as store credit, but offers you less to take it as cash. You're sure to find something cool here!

They have a wide selection/variety, as is typical for HPB, a good store layout, and a friendly staff. Their prices are generally competitive for used books in the area, though I thought the children's books were a little on the higher side. I was able to find a few gems among the records and the person I was with found the new Zelda game for $35, which they said was a much better price than game stop. Comparatively, other HPB's I have been to in Washington state feel cleaner, that's why I have 4 stars instead of 5. I really like this company and was happy to see one in the area.

I love that Half Price carries class French Literature in French. It is so nice to be able to have a neighborhood book store that carries French novels, leather bounds, and trashy romance novels all in one store so that I don't have to go to three different places just to find what I want to read!

I needed to downsize my DVD collection fast, so I chose HPB. I had over 150 DVDs and they could only resell a few (so I got $15). I didn't want to take the DVDs back home, so they said they could donate them. I gladly left the boxes with them. I'm sure I could have gotten money for those DVDs elsewhere, but I was really happy they could find a home for them.

I had no idea what to expect when I walked in. My first guess would have been quite a bit higher prices with limited selection. Prices were shockingly good and the selection was even better. Add to that, they have a nice "receiving" desk for buying used. Go visit, you'll probably buy something.

I really like this book store. The last used bookstore I went to was crowded and the impossible to find what I needed. This store is organized clean and the employees are friendly. The prices are very competitive.
