Great place to dig around and look for gems. Most used digital media seems to cost more than new copies found elsewhere, but you might find some obscure stuff. The vintage books and comics are always worth looking at

Really cool place, lots of good and books and comics. Most Comics were better organized than the other book nook, others were just laying any where. I do wish they didn't put a price sticker on the front of the unbagged comics, directly on the cover.

Went for the music books, found a musicians documentary from post-millenium. Found many many many great CD's from the 90's. They were also in excellent condition. Spent $150+, so given a 10% discount. 18 CDs and one autobiography for $135 is a good price. Also didn't have to pay for shipping and handling. Great place to go to find "rare" finds. The staff is wonderful too.

They have several rooms full of books. They look Unorganized, but they ARE relatively, considering their inventory. I was looking for dictionaries and I found dozens of them in one place. The books are categorized in sections and easy to look for what I was looking for.

I’ve been coming to Book Nook since they were located at the intersection of Buford HWY and Clairmont when I was young. I’ve only had pleasant experiences here and besides the occasional visit when they were reorganizing their very large selection of dvds, CDs, Comics, Books, and Toys I’ve never had a bad experience! Looking for something a new book store? You could spend hours in here so much information and is deceptively bigger than you would think. They have an impressive comic book and CD collection. I believe they buy as well as sell. Was very impressed and enjoyed the customer service. If you are in town worth a look though.

This place is a book lovers gem. Amazing selection of books for all ages with new and old titles, DVDs, some games, and an amazing selection of comics. The two people on staff were definitely believers in what they do and were full of information. You could spend a day in here in the maze of tall bookcases and not see it all.

We visited today after getting my tire repaired on this side of town. It's been almost 12 yrs since my last visit and I'm happy to say it's still the same as I remember😊. Very friendly, welcoming, and helpful store associates made our experience worth the visit. This place offers nostalgia like you wouldn't believe. It was as if my childhood was sewed into the shelves of every row, bringing back many memories of my youth. A must visit if you're in Decatur 💙

I LOVE The Book Nook. I have been to one in Marietta, but the one in Decatur is by far my favorite. This location has a big selection of DVDs and Blu-ray. I personally miss the days where physical media was in its prime. I always manage to find an old movie in this store to add to my growing collection of classic Hollywood. Their book selection is also impressive though the one in Marietta has an even bigger selection. I love to read, but since books have not become obsolete as DVDs I rather spend my time browsing their movie and TV show collection. If you love physical media whether books, DVDs, Blu-rays, or records go to Book Nork!!! This used bookstore never disappoints me. Their prices are very reasonable. I even found a Doris Day film on DVD for only $4.99.

A well hidden treasure right in plain view! I was amazed at the amount of books and material NEATLY organized inside. IF you loved the TV series Little House on the Prairie...They had the complete series. (One of a kind...so there is a possibility that it may be gone by the time you make it there.) If you are a comic book fan...they had hundreds. IF you need tech advice, yep, they have a few people there that can assist you. MOVIES, DISCS, BOOKS, and MORE!

Love the way this book store smells. I always go in here without a plan and end up buying way too many books. They have a good organization system and have A LOT of fiction. Was able to buy the entire Saga comic series here as well. The only reason I give them 4 stars is because they don't have a big selection on books about animals. Trying to find books on marine animals and they really only had books on dogs.

I’m a world of screens, screens and more (and larger!) screens, the book nook remains a bastion of sanity and peace. I love bringing my son here to find new manga and take his eyeballs off of the screens. Great, knowledgeable people and the fun of discovering the $30 book for just $5.

Lovely experience! When I went there wasn't too many vinyl records but everything else was really fun to look through. Could have definitely spent all day there and found plenty of things and probably not even dented the store. Staff was great. Definitely one of my favorite book stores I've been too. This style of a used book store just speaks to me. I'm from out of state and always look for stores like this in attempts to find anime, out of print comics and manga. The store is far larger than you think, and the people working are more than willing to help you with anything you are looking for. In fact, one of them went to the back and allowed me to purchase something that had yet to hit the shelf. This was an amazing experience, and I had a blast talking with the associates about my interest and hobbies. They were not only professional, had my best interest in mind, but were more than open about other places that could help me complete my collection. Thank you Book Nook!

Been coming here for almost six years now .This place always been nice. A lot of things to go trough. books DVD comics and all kind of figures. Nice place to bring kids who still trying to figure what they into. Prices are not always pair but all and all not bad at all. Watched the store switch more Generation of employees then star trek. Can't say they ever got better. Customer service in this place always been on the weak side. So many things that i don't even know where to start. From rude comments to no acknowledgement and my fav no body to help u. Like a bad dark souls game. Selling stuff here is very tricky too. From the guy who do the buying . who mostly give u the comic book guy from Simpsons treatment. To the fact they only let u use store credit only on 50% of what u buy. And if u ask for cash good luck with that.

Great place to explore and get lost in books. They have all kinds of books, comics, and even collectibles. The staff is very chill. You can sell your DVDs there for some extra cash. Update: I sold some books to them and opted for store credit instead of cash. What I didn't know was that you can only use the credit at 50% of the cost. So if you want a $10 book and have a $10 credit with them, only $5 of the credit applies. You'll have to pay the other $5 out of pocket. Plus, they hand write the credit on a piece of receipt paper and update it by hand each time you use (i.e. cross out the old amount, write in the new amount). If you lose that piece of paper, there goes your credit. I know this is a mom and pop but can't you come up with a better system? Google Sheets a spreadsheet and keep tabs that way.

I really like the Book Nook, but there has been one thing that has annoyed me for years. No matter who is at the desk, they dont care about your comics. they are ALWAYS eating and then put their filthy hands on the comics, or they just shove them around on the desk while they price everything. they show no concern to not bend them or crease them when they sell them to you.Its like they dont care. It's a shame because other than that, its great.

The moment you walk in there's that awesome scent of a used book store. It's one of the delights of an old fashioned brick and mortar store - the thrill of finding what you didn't know you were looking for. Vintage pulp novels. Classic literature on the cheap. An awesome comic book selection. Best of all the boxes of old action figures and other delightful pop-culture tchotchkies

Wonderful place to get lost in, they have stacks and rows of books, and they are arranged so that you HAVE to wander and explore. It's the way I love to discover books. It smells like books, it's very cool vibe, and the staff is super cool. I went there to get comics, and had no idea that I was going to love the place as much as I do. You could spend hours here. This is the antidote to Barnes & Nobles, this place has character and personality

Book Nook is a 90's kid nostalgia dream. As soon as you step in the doors you're immersed into a simpler time, back when Mom's had station wagons and we played with dangerous toys and made it in before the street lights came on lol. The staff is always very friendly and just the right amount of helpful. I highly reccomend this place for any good book you require as well as classic video games and collectibles. Nostalgia at it's finest Book Nook is a must Visit. P.S The Decatur branch is the best one by far.

This is my favorite bookstore! It's a treasure hunt; instead of stacks of copies of the latest best sellers, there are rows of single copies of books from current and past years. You'll find books you didn't know your favorite author wrote long ago, old friends that you wore to a nub rereading when you were young, and authors new to you but about to be among your faves. You can bring books and media to trade in (call first if you have questions). They won't buy everything but they give good value for what they accept. Take credit rather than cash; you'll get much more. And save that credit slip- it lasts forever

Nerds paradise! Books books and more books!!!! Sooooo many shelves and rooms upon rooms that make for an interesting maze of literature. But they also have movies, toys, posters, comics etc. great selection with even better prices. They offer trade ins for store credit and find extra parking in back or side of store. This used book store has an incredible amount of material, most of it at very good prices. A lot of the books are older, but they have a lot of cool stuff you won't find somewhere like Barnes & Noble. This is somewhere you could spend several hours if you like books, several days to see everything.

I used to live close by to the Decatur one and pick up shifts there so this review is a bit biased but the staff are a fun group of folks who are knowledgeable about books and nerdy stuff. If you're a huge book nerd like myself, who also enjoys nostalgia, this is the pace for you. They have everything from your favorite childhood games, books, movies, etc. They have a large collection of DVDs, games for various platforms and the biggest selection of quality used books for a reasonable price (they have new as well). You'll need at least a half day to peruse the store, but you won't be disappointed

This is my favorite place in the city of Atlanta and this is my preferred location.. Perhaps that’s a little underwhelming for some, but for me, Book Nook is the equivalent to Heaven. They have books ranging every topic, different languages, and some of the OLDEST books for sale in the city. I’ve found personal devotionals from the 1860s in this bookstore. If you’re a history buff, you’ll be sure to stumble upon something that immediately captures your attention here. I’d be lying if I said I don’t come here to read. I stow away in one of those corners...and find my nook, and get to reading. No one bothers you. It’s quiet. And the staff are always so friendly and helpful. Book Nook is truly my happy place. Please take all my money.

The Book Nook is so Awesome that even after 8 years my husband and I still talk about our time we spent in their store. We lived in apartments close by and spent many hours looking for prize finds there. I still have many books on my shelf with the Book Nook stamp. We recently found a slip with credit and joked we need to travel to ATL to spend it (we now reside in Washington state). We laughed then both agreed that we even with having credit left at the store over $20 we still feel the deals and quality of service we got out weighed the money we left behind. I hope Book Nook stays a staple in the ATL community. We always recommend it to people visiting the area.

This used bookstore has a mishmash of collectibles and media scattered across the store without any discernible system of order. It vaguely resembles an episode of hoarders save that it's a bit less dusty. At least the people running it are nice.

Better set aside hours if you want to explore this gem. Huge selection of used CDs, books, and movies at good-to-great prices. I've never shopped their vinyl, but it's there if that's your thing. Also, it's an alright place to buy comics. They sell what looks to me to be all the major titles (Marvel, D.C., and Image) as well as some alternative and adult titles.

My friend had a fun date idea to peruse a bookstore looking for books whose titles describe your date. We came here with low expectations but with all the books, movies, cds, and more here, the date ended up going really well. The store is deceptively bigger than it looks and is loaded with all kinds of books including a large clearance section and sections of basically any genre of book. Definitely a cool find and highly recommend checking it out.

So many great finds and first-tier family memories over the years, going all the way back to the original Clairmont/Buford Highway location. This place can be expensive depending on your book addiction. Curious branching spaces are stuffed with every type of common and rare book variety. The discount room gets a lot of my business. They have a kids book room, big comic book area, games, music section, rare and antique books section, everything but porn. Think of a fun Harry Potter type bookstore/warehouse and you'll understand this one. Prices vary from $.99 in clearance to a $1,000 for a huge set of antique classics. Or you could find the same classic books in modern softcover for around $3.00 to $5.00. Cookbooks are abundant here. Go vegan! Modern writers you're looking for are easy to find here too.

It comforts the soul just knowing this shop is in the neighborhood. The best part of it is the utterly chaotic discount shelves in the very back. Beautiful useless weird twenty-five cent trade paperbacks on how to raise teenagers in the late seventies! And to wade into anything by Northrop Frye for $1 in a pile of mainly unreadable, but gorgeous rubbish is thrilling. Wished the philosophy and poetry sections were better though.

Book Book is a quirky place. Decent selection of used music and video, action figures galore, graphic novels and comics galore and oh yes tens of thousands of books. Almost every category covered at very good prices. A lot less corporate im feel so the books acquired may not have been your choice. But isn't part of shopping wanting to be surprised?

I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the Book Nook. I could easily spend a fortune in there and it would be worth it. This was my first visit and I'll definitely be back with friends. It is hard to say they have a selection of books because the place is more like several seas of book. Wall to wall and floor to ceiling in every genre of fiction you can imagine and every area of knowledge possible. Some sections reminded me of obscure topics I've been meaning to learn about. In others I found nerdy dragon fiction from my childhood that I've wanted to reread. Everything that my girlfriend has been telling me to read is there. The employees (guardians of the books?) were quirky and cool. I hope Book Nook thrives. What a special place!

Aside from wandering the endless aisles and bookshelves the coolest thing about book nook Isla customer service and hospitality. The staff was friendly helpful proactive and efficient and I was even blessed with a really cool button. They give fair prices on used books especially for store credit, so they are my go to place when I want to pare down my collection or help family and friends do the same. The Book Nook is an excellent full service book store. There are comics and some media but mounds of books. You could easily spend 30 minutes or more exploring every facet of print. In additional to the main store, there are two more 'rooms' to explore. If you get a chance stop in and let your mind roam.

I've been driving past this place for at least a decade and never managed to make it in. Boy have I been missing out. This place is packed with stuff. Books, comics, DVDs, CDs, Vinyl, and toys/collectibles. It is much larger than it looks from the outside. It can honestly be a bit overwhelming but the staff is super helpful. Organization is relatively good but the toys/collectibles are kind of all over the place. Regardless, this place shouldn't be missed. Don't be like me and keep driving by wondering what they have, just stop in and take a look!

Great used bookstore. A lot of other reviewers have had issues with staff and clutter. But these are people unacquainted with used bookstores. It's the hunt that makes finding treasure worthwhile. And old book dealers are a breed unto themselves. It might take a trip or two for a repore to develop. End of story... if you want an old book that may not be available elsewhere, or if you don't also need a cappuccino while you shop, then check them out. But if your expecting booksamillion or Barnes and noble you will be dissapointed

This store is impressively big, but could be more organized and have better signage. It was pretty messy and hard to navigate. The signs labeling the book sections were in weird locations and all different sizes. Definitely will be back though!

This place has a good selection of popular fiction, comics, and DVDs. Selection of other types of books is hit or miss. You can turn in your used books for credit, but the credit only applies to purchases of used books of the same genre. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Although there are plenty of books to choose from on the floor of this Book Nook it it not organized in a fashion that invites browsing. There are not clear sections but more organized like a library where you have stacks organized by categories. No clear identification of where categories exist in store until you happen upon them. I spent over an hour and left with nothing.

Prices USED to be really good. ( For Trade & Back issues) Unfortunately not so much anymore. Now, they claim to use Overstreet as there "BIBLE", in order to low ball you on your treasures. This enables them to buy said goods at an even lower cost. They then, mark these items up to Ebay price Avg plus %20 ( give or take ) . Here are 2 Honest examples. 1. I brought in a stack of 20 comics and was offered $21.00 in cash. One of these books was a $90 book. ( Just one of the 20 ) I mentioned this and they couldn't careless. I left immediately and went to see Tim @ My Parents Basement, in Decatur. He gave me $140.00 for 3 comics , out of the 20 I had. ( Yep, Hand to God ) Example #2 I went in this Weekend and found a Ghost Rider #1 Blank Sketch Variant for $20. This book was $3.00 all day long 3 weeks ago. ***Please check your Overstreet*** Basically. They Buy or Trade using Overstreet to lowball you.They realize by using Overstreet ,they can buy your goods at a extremely lower price then True, Current Market Value ( It is now commom practice among many Book stores and Comic shops currently, to gauge active market value off of, the SOLD Ebay Avg) Everything they sell, is marked up to current Ebay prices that tend to have a 15/20 percent additional mark up. What really sucks is, 5 years ago this was my favorite store. Sadly, this weekend will be the last time I ever step foot in that store. If you do go there. PLEASE be aware of thr Current Market Price of your goods and what , those goods are Currently selling for.

It's great that Atlanta has somewhere like this. It reminds me of a smaller, one story version of my favorite used book store in Arcata. The smell of old treasures makes me want to spend all day in the stacks sitting cross-legged in a corner and reading like I did when I was a kid. This Decatur location is the BEST comic book shop in Atlanta. It's an ole-school used book store - possibly the largest in Atlanta - that also carries used albums, DVDs, and CDs. Back to comics, though they do carry new comics each Wednesday, the best aspect of this shop is the over 40 comic-long-boxes of 1980s-2000s comics priced from $0.50 to $1 each; most are $0.50 each. Thousands of used comics for $0.50! They also have bagged Silver-Age and Bronze Age comics of higher grade, most well below Overstreet Guide. Did I mention Thousands of used comics for $0.50!?

Contrary to many Yelp reviews the staff is very helpful, i have happily been given full rundowns on the trading and selling process. There are old games, cs, vinyls, and novels and comics from every genre in existence. There are even rare 90s figures/collectibles from franchises such as Spawn and Gen13. But the big mark on this place is that manga is treated as an afterthought, there is only one manga shelf and it's all obscure OOP series from years ago, there are no new manga releases to be seen. I am not a big fan of superheroes, but if you are this bookstore will not disappoint, but if you want manga you're much better off going to a B&N or Oxford Comics.

If you can't find it anywhere else, it is probably here. The selections are heavy in the comic book/ sci fi / fantasy area but there are CDs,. Movies, and books on subjects from the ethics of architecture to the script from Greenaway's "The Belly of an Architect". There are books in unfamiliar foreign languages, and books full of photos..... The price are not the lowest I have seen but the funky and helpful staff more than make up for the difference. One caveat - the maze-like warren of rooms, each stacked to the ceiling can lead to a dizzy spell if you lose track of where the doors are.
