Best book store in Anchorage! It's gone through a few changes through the years. They still give credit for books which is nice! Honestly, if you've lived in Anchorage a sufficient amount of time (3 months plus) and you haven't been here, you need to go this week! It's a great place to find great stories and information to read and learn! Plus you get to support local small business! Don't let Fahrenheit 451 come true!

I love this place. Look if you are looking for a book before you head out and buy a new copy else where. You should give this place a shot. I love to read and often times I'm looking for very popular books that have been in print for years. You can save a lot by just coming here. The customer service here is also very helpful and just great. Highly recommend if you love to read come check this place out.

A great place to browse for books. The kids section is all situated in the front. They deal in used books, as well as new, so you can find older titles or neat stories you wouldn't find at a chain bookstore, that wouldn't show up on your online recommendations. The only bad thing is the customer service. It's hit or miss. Sometimes, you'll get a smiling person, very interested in helping you out and seeing if you found everything you were looking for, even going so far as to check their system to see if they have it, sometimes you'll get a teenager who's very put out by having to ring you up and take your money.

Unanimous 5 star for me. I go here all the time, ever at their previous location since I was a kid. Even though they have comic book novels I wish they had a section where it was actual comic books. Even without that, they’re still the best and deserve 5 stars. Read a book, return it, get some store credit, get another book on a discount from you credit.

Great used bookstore. Fairly solid selection and do take books for sale or credit. Very selective on what they take for cash or credit, so don't go with a box full and expect every book to sell to them. Still a recommended stop for any book lover!

The staff here are always super helpful, so if you don't see something other shelf, always ask. Plus they've got a fantastic selection of bookish gift items, vinyl stickers, and wrapping paper.

My favorite kind of book store. Everything is well organized and reasonably priced. They often have a little island display with extra cheap books. Ive been there a few time either during or right after an author came 8n for a signing so you can tell the store is involved in the reading community and really promotes local authors especially.

This book store has something for everyone. Used and new I have gotten, books, CDs, puzzles, games, journals, and DVDs here and I can usually find any book I am looking for (and even some I didn’t know I needed) They will buy your books for credit. Their clearance selection is great too! The staff is friendly and helpful as well as knowledgeable about their inventory. Located right on Northern Lights it is easy to find and even though the parking lot is usually quite full I have always been able to find a spot.

Definitely a better option then Barnes and noble, you can get the same quality at title wave for half the price typically. The have a lot relating to books that they sell as well and I think they support local artists too but not exactly sure. But they have a good selection of books. The employees there rock! And they have notebooks, books, coloring books, puzzle books, I mean you name it. They even have the coolest kids section. Like if I was a creative kid I'd wanna go to this place everyday. I mean I think about coming here Everytime I get paid. Definitely don't waste your money at Barnes and noble! Go to title wave and live it up there! (Not meant to offend Barnes and noble just saying title wave is personally better in my opinion)

This is such a delightful bookstore. I would highly recommend to anyone in Anchorage. They had a nice selection of used and new books that were well labeled and organized. They also had a beautiful stationary and journal selection. The staff were courteous and helpful. Next to Yak and Yeti Himalayan food and Kaladi Brothers Coffee.

They are friendly and kind. I got a book of the first series. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. I called and asked them if they have the rest in the series and if they can hold it for me. They went and looked instead of looking on the computer. They hold them for me for 2 days. I will keep going back to this place.

One of my favorite places ever! The place is practically warehouse size, so there’s a huge selection of books, movies, music, and more to choose from. It’s really clean and all the books are in good condition. When buying books from customers though, be prepared to possibly make a trip to Good Will… I understand why, but Title Wave is kinda selective about the books they buy. Nonetheless, I highly recommend you check it out!

This store had a pretty large selection of used books and dvd's. Now the inventory is way down. I'd love to see what has been done with the books I turned in that they wouldn't sell, I'd love to have them back now. The staff is always friendly and helpful. But DO NOT bring books here to sell. You'll get very little for the books you turn in. I don't expect of money but getting all of $5 for bringing in over 30 books is pretty poor. And some of those books were books I bought at this store. I don't expect to get much money from a book I bought from them and then selling it back, but I do expect something if they are going to resell it. They have gutted so many history sections but seem to have plenty of romance novels. I may walk through once a year now and its just a shell of what it was.

I've gotten rid of a lot of paychecks in this clean, attractive, well-organized store. The books are all arranged logically & I never have any problem finding exactly what I want. If an item for which I am searching is not readily found, a quick question to any of their friendly, courteous, well-trained staff members can detetmine at once whether the item is in fact in stock or if not, whether it can be ordered. Title Wave! A bibliophile's delight. They also carry music and lots of other things.

2022: downsize has restricted some, mostly the kid section. Seems as if there is more shelf space despite having less shelves. Staff still tries to be helpful. Impossible to get the books they throw out. Prior: Always something good for certainly reasonable prices. I have nothing bad to say about this place in the slightest except that it isn't closer to my residence.

One of my favorite places. I really wish they could of kept the extended kids area, but I love what they were able to do with the slightly smaller space. Staff (as always) is helpful and eager to give wonderful suggestions. If you love books, you will fall in love with this place.

I love Title Wave! I had the opportunity to return to Title Wave for the first time in several years and they've made a few changes to their layout, but it's still a great book store. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love the selection of leatherbound books they offer (at a very reasonable price I might add). And they have such a fun variety of unique knickknacks like the beautiful foil journals/drawing notebooks, stickers, wooden postcards, book themed scarves and pins, etc.

Tidal wave is fantastic, great books for fair prices (sometimes there are really great deals just depends on what you’re looking for). The staff is always kind and I greatly appreciate that they truly enforce their mask requirements it makes me feel safe! You’re not going to get a ton of cash for your books but that’s just how the system works and how they can afford to price their books so low so it really doesn’t bother me. Also they use plastic based stickers rather than paper which makes taking them off your book when you get home very easy! Staff is always knowledgeable and helpful, I had a great conversation with a staff member who went out of her way to help me find a book series I was looking for. If you’re visiting or a regular this quirky local bookstore is a must visit.

Tidal wave bookstore is an awesome place to shop and hang out. I was looking for a book that was written by Mike Gordon, and for sure I found it there. I thought that was very awesome anyway I took the book home and I began to read it and I was intrigued by it I almost read it for the second time if you're looking for something to read be sure to look up the books written by Mike Gordon here in Anchorage. Nice shop, but nothing overly special. I liked the section on specifically Alaska themed books, but most were overpriced. Staff seemed less than thrilled to be there and not overly friendly when I tried to make conversation. Would rate 3.5 stars.

Wide selection of books and media. Was not disappointed at all with my experience there. I enjoyed the highlighted book displays that were around the store. I even found a book that I have been searching for! Large variety of on sale books for $3.99. Also really enjoy the fact that they have a book buy back program. Super awesome way to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

I visited the bookshop during my holiday in Alaska. The first time I've been there was my first day in Anchorage. While dad found the historical book section very interesting I instead stopped by the classics and mystery/adventure section. Both of us were not disappointed. I ended up buying several books. What I liked the most though was the fact that all of the used books looked like new, even if they were several years old. Furthermore, I took advantage of the trading area at the shop. The staff at the counter looked so happy all the time and many popped by the shelves to ask if you needed any help. Finally, the book selection was one of the greatest I encountered during my stay in Alaska and I just had to go back on my last day there. Totally recommended bookstore! Wish they would open it near my place too.

Scaled down, with a much different selection of books than a few years ago. The atmosphere is less welcoming than it was, feeling more like a retail bookstore than a local reused bookstore where you are encouraged to browse, relax and enjoy your time. There have been far fewer shoppers than a few years ago on each of my recent visits and staff has ignored me unless directly asked a question and then the answer has been short and terse, as though I bothered them by interrupting with my frivolous questions. All in all, with a variety that is still eclectic and unique, there are reasons to visit, but it's not the destination I used to enjoy spending an hour or two in getting lost in all of their books and products. Update: +2 more stars!!!! Recent visits have been wonderful. Attentive staff on each visit. I agree that the selection has great variety and there's always something new to find even if you don't know what you're looking for, however am nostalgic for the old spaces. But that shouldn't and doesn't take away from what the store still offers. Thank you for your response to my review.

It's huge in here, there is lots more than books, some really interesting stuff, I'm not so much of a book reader, but I saw plenty of stuff in here that I'd like to buy, including books! Definitely check out their selection of foil journals! They're gorgeous!

Great selection, they always have an array of choices for any topic I'm looking for, even when it's something I think I'll have to go online for. The prices range from great to decent and there are usually discount tables with a variety of books for 3.99 each. The store itself also has a really nice layout and feel to it.

Even after the business shrunk down to 2/3 of its previous size, this is still my favorite local book store. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they have many eclectic choices ranging from books to vinyl to CDs to video games. I really like the various trinkets the keep on hand and their Alaska section is phenomenal, a great resource if you're looking for reasonably priced resources for bird watching, flora spotting, camp planning, or really any of the many wonderful activities Alaska has to offer.

I've always found a variety of interesting things here. They have a great selection of used books at decent prices. Usually about half the cover price or below. If you're looking for 25 cent paperbacks, though, this is not the place for you. If you're looking to find something to complete your sci-fi or fantasy series and you're willing to pay a couple of bucks, this is definitely the place to check out.

For a used book store, there's quite a modern selection of books and they are all very well organized. The store is massive and very clean. The books are sold as incredible prices that I almost refuse to go to book stores selling new books. There are two cafés next door, which is a perfect place to stop in after picking up a few new titles.

One of the best places to sell your books or find some new favorites in town. I always find fun, new books to read, and as a big Terry Pratchett fan I've found some super cool older versions with the crazy artwork there. Also have found some fun music in the CD section, classics and unknown artists, when it's only a dollar or two to buy it's easy to branch out and try a new artist.

Browsing here is an experience! Local, national and international authors! Call ahead to see if they have the book you are looking for and they will hold it for you. Some stickers by local artist Elora along with other very cool Edward Gorey apparel and other trinkets. Sell or buy your books!

This is a wonderful place. They have used books at great prices. I always find what I’m looking for and the staff are very helpful with finding things. They’ve downsized a bit so there aren’t as many tables to sit and study but it’s still the same great business. I always take my used books here to trade in for store credit. I then buy more books. It’s an endless cycle of reading happiness.

Title Wave is a great place to find that book with the blue cover you just can't remember the title of. They have smart, knowledgeable booksellers and a wide variety of new and used titles. You can trade in your lightly read books as well. They also carry music, CDs and even used vinyl. You never know when a treasure will pass through their doors.

I have always loved the atmosphere of bookstores. This one is no different, different titles and some good pricing. They have a small selection of activity books. A good place to go and browse, their pretty good at getting a title they don't have yet. Their system of things have improved over these past few years as well. So if it's been awhile since going or your visiting in town, give them a(nother) try. And I love their trade credit, a great way for a win-win when getting rid of your pile of books. Credit depends on what or how much you trade. The location is great too. Title wave is by a couple of cafes and resturaunts so you can make a small day out of it.

This is a new and used book store which can be hit or miss. I would suggest you call ahead of time before you drop by if you're looking for something particular. If you're just browsing for some new reading material you may find this place quite helpful. Is generally reasonably quiet and clean prices are fair and not too disappointing.

My favorite place in town to get books, or even just stop in to browse for a while. You can bring in your old books, CDs, DVDs, etc for cash or credit (just get credit, you know you'll use it!). You can ask for any books they won't take back, or you can just have them donate the remainder so you don't have to deal with them. Customer service is friendly and helpful. I love to bring people here for fun!

Title Wave is the best bookstore in town and has been a fixture in Spenard for over twenty years. Their selection is expansive and their service quick and responsive. Even their voicemail is amusing! Title Wave is always the first place I check when I'm looking for books, movies, or music. I visited a few days ago and found what I needed plus a movie I'd been looking for. Unfortunately, I also somehow accidentally rated the store one star without realizing it. I've now changed it to the five-star rating the store deserves. Don't be confused by the comment from the owner. Title Wave has never let me down.

I had a list of about 8 book titles and authors, and though they didn't have most of the items on the list, there is MUCH more to enjoy and purchase here! Helpful staff will point you in the right direction, but if you're independent like me, you can explore for hours on your own. I found one book on my list from the Brand New shelf, one from the Used Book shelf at about half the cover price, and lots of books and CDs NOT on my list but happily owned now.

Before I go to any other bookstore or even on Amazon, at least when it comes to physical copies of books, I go to Title Wave first. Nine time out of ten, they have what i'm looking for. And the staff have always been great at helping me finds things when I can't. My one real complaint isn't even the fault of the store, but of the occasional rudd customer that comes in and can't be bothered to put a book back where they found it when they change their mind about purchasing it; is it really so hard to take a moment to take something back where you got it from!? (They're probably the same people that can't be bothered to take a shopping cart to a return location even though they're only two parking spots over from it).

This is a very large, varied content used book store similar to the Half Price Book chain in our home area (Indianapolis). The typical book is half the list price although they also have significant discount books and DVDs. We were especially pleased with the large selection of Alaska theme books.

Best bookstore since. Time was yesterdy! Aeesome... recently repurchased "UBLASAUN". PERSONAL 2ND copy. Has the HX of pictured art work of my fathers uncle. JAMES KIVETORUK MOSES. MEMORIES of many visits watching the art work. Being created at his homes in Nome, Alaska. Soft spoken. Very much he liked his artistic work.
