My daughter's absolute favorite place to go to even though we have seen and played with just about everything in the store. Great selection of comics and collectibles with an even greater selection of helpful and courteous staff members that really knows that there's stuff when it comes to comics and collectibles alike. They even offer what is called free comic book Wednesday for children, my daughter's favorite thing to do.

Love, love, LOVE Astro Zombies! Such a fun and funky little spot to get records, Funko pop figures, and vintage toys/collectibles. The staff are always friendly and super helpful and I pretty much always find something great when I stop in!

Great local comic shop. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Great selection of comic books and graphic novels. Can find a large number of vinyl records. They have alot of Godzilla merchandise that is very impressive. Tons of collector figures both in and out of boxes. Lots of Funko pops. Store is easy to find. Located on the corner and features a large mural on the side of the building. Great photo location.

Pretty solid comic shop. The staff was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Highly recommended to swing by if you’re in the area. I will say, their selection of manga was sparse, but ordering anything you want is very easy to do. Make sure you look up at the ceiling to see all of the signatures and art from various comic creators and movie/TV stars. The murals outside are AWESOME. Definitely worth snapping a few photos!

Wow! Not only is it a top-notch comic store plus record store plus collectibles (toys) store, but it’s owned by an amazingly funny dude. It’s expected that a comic store owner will be smart and knowledgeable about comics; it’s never guaranteed that he or she will be charismatic and funny. The owner of Astro-Zombies is exactly that! Picked up a Spider-man back issue and some sweet stickers, will definitely be back.

They were so amazing when we went to resell some Star Wars figures. They actually educated us and talked to us about the reselling process and how they wanted to go about it. They didn’t undersell us or try to low ball us in any way. They also understood that we cared about what we were selling and that we wanted to get the best we could out of it. They gave us an amazing value (more than anywhere else in ABQ) and some store credit. I love this place! It’s absolutely worth the visit.

This place is awesome!!!! I don't care if you're not into any of the cool and fun stuff they have in this shop, after you talk to the super knowledgeable and friendly staff you're bound to find something you can't live without, something from your childhood or just something cool to add to your life. Cool place, friendly staff, would give 6 stars if they had more Star Trek stuff and it was possible to give that many stars. Yeah I just docked a nonexistant star, why you ask? Because my complaint is frivolous, and unlike so many online reviewers I realize that my every whim not being met or my every fancy not being tickled does not need to reflect negatively on this solid business, because I am not the center of the universe.

Honestly one of the best comic book stores I have been in a long time. Staff are friendly and helpful but not clingy. If you want a comic they dont have they will order it at no extra cost to you. They also have D&D, Magic, Pop culture decal made by a local artist, and so many Transformers including Fortress Maximus. Highly recomend it. I have been building my Hellboy collection.

This review is long overdue. Such an awesome place! I actually called about Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers collectibles right around Halloween 2021, and they were super helpful. So I came by, spotted a Dale Earnhardt collectible as well, they hooked me up with all three and some stands, totally in my budget, very friendly the whole time, and I come home looking like a Halloween hero. Just a really great shop, with cool people.

I keep reviewing this place it seems because it is awesome. Don't be afraid to ask questions. They may be able to obtain collectibles not seen in the store as well. The place is extremely knowledgeable, and seriously pricing is all extremely fair, and based on the actual value.

This is an amazing shop. I go for their vinyl. The selection is overwhelming. I normally have to put stuff back and hope it lasts till next week. They put all the other local shops to shame. Great customer service, friendly people and great atmosphere. Couldn't recommend this place more. I buy alot of vinyl and if I am looking for new stuff or classics this is where I always end up.

Great place to buy, talk about and appreciate comics! They have tons of other collectibles including (but not limited to) action figures, records, display pieces and artwork. The staff was friendly and welcoming and encouraged me to browse and ask questions. I will definitely be coming back!

I love the selection of figures. I like the way they label their high-dollar back issues with the reason they're collectible ("first appearance of so-and-so".) Their selection of trade paper backs and graphic novels is probably the best in town. Years ago, the staff seemed a little vibey, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I won't dock a point because it's just part of the area they're in, but it's probably the only comic shop in town where parking can be a problem.

First time visiting Astor Zombies my family and I were waiting on a table down the street. Joe, being the amazing human he is, reignited an old passion for Star Wars Legacy comics and also introduced us to fresh comics such as Saga while corralling/entertaining our rambunctious 2 year old. Most associates would be annoyed by a adventurous child capable of pulling whole shelves down but they were not. The visits began to multiply and soon after more discussions I jumped into comic collecting. A pull list was established. Between Chris, Jason, and Joe (being the 3 most I’ve interacted with) they run an amazing shop. The books are organized, boxes ready when you arrive, and always a warm welcome. Yes you will see that they don’t take kindly to pretentious snobs but who does? They look out for their customers and are willing to order anything missing or messed up. Wednesdays are now my favorite day of the week as it’s the day to swing by if even just for a little and chat while scooping up the new reads.

If your sad about Charles's records downsizing come check this place out. Also the staff was so helpful and listening to them talk they bring alot of people in for signings and promotions. Always a fun and expensive experience. I mainly go here for their great vinyl collection. It has something for everyone and mood. Most all the vinyl is new and unopened, and I always find my self having to choose what I am going to actually buy this time and what I hope is still there the next time. The staff is friendly and helpful, but hands off if you know why you are there. Added bonus is all of the other collectibles if you are into comics and pop culture. I honestly perfer this shop over Meca and Charlie's.

Super underrated vinyl selection! My sister and I were pleased to find a bunch of our favorite artists here after looking all over town. They might not stock a ton, but what they do have is a great variety of genres and artists outside the usual 60s-80s fare most record stores in Albuquerque stick with.

Friendly staff, great collection of records. Can't speak for the comics, but these guys really don't know the full extent of their music collection. Bought an album for 15 that sells regularly online for 110. Of course, that is no complaint.

Knowledgeable, and friendly staff. This is what a comic book shop should be, the staff encourage different novels, and ask about your interest. The store is full of action figures, table top games, and records. I'll definitely stop by again the next time I'm in ABQ.

Love this place customer service is amazing! Just getting back into comics and started to discuss comics that I was interested in with the owner. Started a pull list after a couple of weeks of going. Now example of amazing customer service is that he remembered what we discussed and put a comic in my box I mentioned but did not put on my pull list. Came to the shop on Wednesday and was surprised that he remembered and made sure to save the comic for me. Of course I bought it right away he also put another comic I was looking for two weeks ago into the been that I did find someplace else. What I am saying is that they really care about what you want and think about their customers even when they are not in the shop! AMAZING!!!!

I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with the primary intention of hunting some back issue comics. Very clean store. Comic back issues are all bagged, boarded, sorted, and priced. The back issue bins seemed to be priced at $5+ (I couldn't find anything cheaper). There is an impressive selection of wall books, but all seemed to be priced at about 2x what I would consider fair market value. New release comics were displayed on one wall. Another wall housed a thorough selection of trades. A great selection of punk rock vinyl LPs as well as some vintage toys was a nice bonus. Overall a great place to shop, but I didn't find anything for my collection at a price I would consider paying.

My father recently decided he wanted to give graphic novels a try. We were having brunch in Nob Hill when he mentioned it so we ventured over to Astro-Zombies. Jason was super knowledgeable (and nice!) and helped my dad find two different graphic novels to start with based on his pretty niche tastes. Jason also said he would do some research so he would have more recommendations when we returned for more. If I could give Astro-Zombies more stars I absolutely would!

Is down this is the best comic book store in Albuquerque. They have a great selection of comics and graphic novels. Wide selection of comic books and action figures. Also sells vinal records and Lego toys. Curbside parking for customers at City parking meters along both Central Ave and Richmond Drive, South of Central Ave. A fun and friendly place to shop. The staff always has a movie playing on a TV in a corner of the store.

Ahhh Astro zombies, really brings me back to when I was a kid. Going in with my stepdad to look at comics, to get my first comic here 10 years ago. I still go there with my friends or my boyfriend to look at some mangas. Hmm customer service is great I have no problems at all! They are very helpful when you ask them questions and they give you their honest answer! Lol I will say though, I forgot how small it was! But hey that’s cool; it’s what makes it special to me. I’ll be going there Saturday! Probably gonna call today to see if they can hopefully place some books on hold for me till I get there! Saturday! I prefer this place than any other comic book shop just cause they have a bigger and better selection.

I came in to the store looking for back issues and variant covers. I'm not a regular customer. The young lady that helped me was very friendly and went out of her way to answer all of my questions and help me locate items as best she could. None of the items I wanted were available in the store. Prices on back issues are very high. Access to the store was good once I got around all of the ART construction. Other members of the staff were less helpful. The store was well organized and appeared to have a wide selection of current comics.

This place is awesome. I love it. It has so many different comic books. They also carry things like Legos, Pop Figures, and action figures. The employees all know a lot about Marvel, DC, and all of the other comic book companies. They carry Arrow, X-Men, Avengers, Star Wars, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and many, many more. They carry old and new comics, which a lot of stores do not. The store is pretty big, and has a incredible mural on the side. It's fun to stop by and just look after some comics and admire the pop figures. The location is very convenient. Whenever I am in Albuquerque I always stop by. I really like this store, and if you like comics, you should certainly stop by.

A comic book and toy collector's paradise. This store has been a staple of the unique shopping experiences on Central Street. The huge homage hero mural outside the store is a reflection of the times, where once anything comic book was nerdy and dorky, today it is mainstream and our lives are for the better with superheroes to aspire to and inspire. Inside there is a huge array of comics and toys. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind and funny. I found classic and new comics and new titles and publishers besides the big two (Marvel and DC). Wish I had more time to visit; only got done perusing 1/3 of store. That's how much cool stuff they have.

I first met these guys at a comic book convention and then checked their store out when the Batman tumbler/Batmobile came rolling through town. Even though the store was packed with people, they were very helpful and have been helpful at other times I was in the store. Nice guys and great selection. Not the most original or creative looking comic shop inside, but pretty straight forward on merchandise. Outside the mural is amazing and adds to the Nob Hill feel.

Fantastic selection in a great location my only thing that is just a regular issue when it comes to most comic shops is the prices being very Stout due to the digital age screwing things up. But they have a lot of great sales so if you can't leave there with something that you're happy to read then you might just be too picky of a person.

Not gonna lie, their stuff is pretty over priced. I'll only buy comics from them if their price is a dollar more than the actual price because $5.99 for a $3.99 comic is a bit much. And the service could definitely be better. The first time I ever shopped there, I called in to see if they had a full volume I was looking for and the man who answered was very condescending, asking if I'd ever even read the comic before (which I had). The other times I went they seemed to pay more attention to me than the guys who were shopping, flirting with me any my friend. Over all, they're alright, but the guys there need to stop being high-and-mighty, thinking they know everything about every comic out there and start treating their customers with respect. Also the prices suck, you'd seriously be better off going g to Hastings and that's saying something.

The best comic shop in ABQ hands down. I love shopping here. The staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I'm a big collector of graphic novels, and I have no problem finding what I need, and if I can't there isn't any issue in ordering it.

So I easily found this store tucked away around Central and Girard. It was my first time in a Comic book store and my experience was quite nice. I was immediately greeted by a Manager, who was happy to help me find some things that I was looking for. We had a nice chat about Marvel comic storylines, I was surprised on how much he knew. (Although he does work at a Comic store, I should know better.) Their selection was vast, having toys, figures, stickers, manga, and comics of course! Some sections were limited like their manga and anime, but it was still enough to satisfy people who are curious. In short they had a lot of want you want, and plenty of of what you need. Some selections were in these tight bins that were a little difficult to sort through without potentially damaging items. Not a huge issue but it could be a hassle of you like keeping things mint. Some comics were cheap, 4-5 dollars a piece, but other items like the figures and toys were considerably more expensive. I'm not sure if I'd spend $150 on Luke's snowspeeder from Hoth, but it's still nice that they have it. I didnt ask about a subscription plan, where I could choose a specific series, i.e. the new Captain Marvel, and have a copy reserved upon each release so I'm unsure about that whether it's a service that they have or not. I also heard that they do trades and even buy some comics, I plan on testing that in the future with some extra manga I have. The Service and staff, which I touched on earlier, were incredibly nice. I met a manager and another employee, both great people. I would've liked to have met the owner but he was on vacation. Again I had great service, found what I wanted easily and with no grumpy employees. Overall I'd definitely come back. If your a comic enthusiast or a beginner this is a nice place to check out.

Bad ass selection of the best comics you can think of. Bad ass selection of collectibles as well. But my most favorite of the whole store was the vast selection of vinyl records. Just switched to listening to vinyl lps. I must say Astro Zombies is a great place to dig through crates for records. Staff was genuine, very helpful and very friendly. Highly recommended stop in.

A big shout out to Astro Zombies for being the ultimate human beings! I was walking down Central when a stranger took notice of my family and me. This stranger was clearly lost and thought my son was her child. She yelled out a name that was very similar sounding to my son’s name which caught his attention and he responded. I believe that the acknowledgment from my son validated this woman’s belief that he was her kid. She began to follow us down the street and then started yelling that we “took her kid”, and “help, they have my son”. In an attempt to avoid confrontation or raise too much concern, we walked away down Central and turned into the comic book shop to hide. The staff at Astro Zombies were so quick to offer assistance and one staff member took my kiddos to the back to distract them from the lady following us. Thank you Astro Zombies for your big hearts and willingness to help keep our kiddos calm in a very frightening situation. I really have no other words to show my appreciation. I got into comics pretty late, but I never feel like I'm an outsider at Astro. The staff is friendly and informed, and they are always happy to take the time to give me suggestions and guide me into new series I never even knew I'd enjoy. Eventually I started a box with the shop (totally free), and I am up to 10 subscriptions which nets me a cool 15% discount on everything in the store. It has certainly paid for itself. The shop has real charm, and the community of comic-readers I've found really make me feel like part of the family. I always look forward to picking up my box and chatting about new story arcs and upcoming releases. TL:DR - Astro Zombies is a charming, helpful and inviting local comic shop. If I moved out of state, I'm absolutely certain I'd keep my subscriptions with them and just pay for the shipping because they're just that damn friendly. Real upstanding dudes and gals.

I've been getting all of my weekly comics from Astro Zombies since the first time I walked in there over 7 years ago. I had just self published my first comic book, and I found that the other shops I'd been shopping at since I was a kid had no interest in supporting or encouraging local small press offerings because there was no money in it, but Mike at Astro Zombies was super supportive from day one. He'd never met me, but immediately bought five copies from me on the spot, no wait and see consignment, just immediate support, and every time I came back he would hound me for the next issue. He's always been supportive of my various artistic endeavors, from featuring my old band Yoda's House in a showcase of musicians from his now defunct label the Lotus Sound, to donating art supplies for after school programs I taught at Zia Elementary School. Top that off with a truly superior selection of new comics, new and old toys, and the biggest selection of graphic novels in the city - it's no wonder this shop wins the Best Comic Shop in Burque every year in the Weekly Alibi. Haters are gonna hate, that's what they do, but my experience has always been super positive there as a customer, and my personal experiences with the owner have always been consistently positive as well, which is why all these years later I also call him a friend. also, one of these goofballs from a couple years back claims that you have to pay for subscription services in his "review", that is not only a lie, but you actually get a discount on your comics as a subscriber, even titles you pick up off the wall that weren't in your box.
