This is the only place I’ll bring my bikes. I brought mine and my husband’s in to get fixed before a trip. Sam helped troubleshoot my issues and was able to fix them right there! I thought I was going to have to pay $$$ for new tires, but nope! When I do have to get labor done, it’s always been incredibly well priced and fair. I love this place!

Love this place. My son was having issues with the gear switch on his bike. They said they might be busy and it *could* take a week. I got a call about 45 minutes later saying they resolved the issue! Not only that, but it was such a simple fix that they didn't charge us. I will be going to Farmstead for our annual bike service and maintenance for a long time to come.

Wow - just wow! I brought my bike in expecting to need to replace my breaks (not a cheap job) and the tech immediately determined it could be fixed with a small amount of labor. Also got advice on how to do a few minor items at home myself to improve performance. This is now my go to shop - such great service and integrity!

Great people and the prices for service are fair and way cheaper than some chain stores. I had an estimate of over $180 for bearings for my front fork at Erik’s and they did it for less than $40 here.

I am constantly impressed with Farmstead’s customer service and their mechanics abilities. They’ve worked on three different bikes in my household now. Every time the price is reasonable for the work being done. They’re totally transparent in the entire process and go above and beyond to check in with you. Would recommend for anyone in the neighborhood, or for those looking for a dependable bike shop!

Reasonable place if 1) you live very close by AND 2) your needs are straightforward. They are not great at communicating or considering your needs (price and performance). I would not recommend this place nor would I discourage people from shopping here. I had many separate interactions and was ultimately disappointed. I bought my bike here in March 2020 after the start of Covid lockdowns. They have consistently been more cautious than most other shops and I applaud them for that. I immediately had issues with my bike (poor shifting) that they fixed, then had repeated wheel issues. Had great service until my warranty wheel continued to have issues and the owner got involved. They rejected further warranty claims stating that it was part of the break in period and they couldn't continuously provide replacement wheels, even though I was riding under the advertised use. I reached out to Jamis and they agreed to provide more support, following the owners plan (the specifics of which I was not aware of at the time). I called frequently during the process (which included a crank breaking on its own as well as my bottom bracket coming loose), which dragged from March to January 2021. It was difficult to get information and updates, many of my calls for the owner went unresponded. We did have two 30 minute conversations during the ordeal, which were helpful, but there was little follow-through and a lack of response between them. Once, I had my wife call (immediately after I had been ignored) to get the owner on the line and then pass the phone over to me. Despite my requests, I rarely got updates on when a part would come back in stock that was needed to repair my bike. I called a few times to discover that my bike was repaired and ready to pick up. Horrible and changing timelines are a staple of the pandemic, but they know that the part is available when they physically have it and put it on my bike. During the initial purchase of the bike and at my last tune-up, generic references to parts contributed to them installing the wrong bike rack (they carry two versions but didn't differentiate) as well as installing a cassette that was 2 times more expensive than the standard replacement. Referencing specific products and prices would have been greatly appreciated.

This has become my new favorite bike shop. It's just down the street from my home and the employees are friendly. If I have questions about a product they are patient and have had experience using them. In addition they were able to accommodate me over the summer with an urgent service request. Other bike shops would tell me I could make an appointment 2 months out. Very happy and will continue to return.

I've gone in for repairs/service a few times over the past month, and everything's been super quick and affordable. Everyone I've talked to has been really nice, and I'm sure the in-store experience is great too. The only gripe I have is that it's difficult to get updates on anything special-ordered. They'll either forget about you, or not call back when scheduled. I'm still going to keep going here to get my bike fixed, or to buy things they have in stock, but I might try to fill those orders somewhere else.

This is a wonderful bike shop with very friendly and helpful staff. I brought my bike in since I had been riding it regularly for the last few years with no work done on it. They told me it didn’t need a full tune up but was due for a new chain, which they then replaced on the spot! My bike is riding super smoothly now, and the price was very reasonable. I also had very pleasant conversations, and overall an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

First class bike shop. Incredible service and product knowledge. I've been taking my bike here since I moved to the area and they usually have same day turn around for anything other than a full tune up. Their prices are also incredibly fair. Seems like a bike shop driven by people passionate about cycling which is always welcome and very refreshing while many shops are cliquey and pretentious.

After a flat tire nearby, I was able to get my bike to and out of Farmstead in less than 20 minutes. Their COVID precautions were clear and reasonable (wear a mask, wait outside, call for service) and staff was attentive. The service cost was reasonable and I would definitely recommend stopping by for a bike repair need.

I bike for an hour 5 out of 7 days of the week, and everyday my ride felt just as difficult as the day I started. It always seemed like my back tire was flat, my basket was missing screws, there was rust on the front and back tire rims, and my gears didn't switch when I changed them, and some piece of metal kept hitting another, so my bike was super noisy. These were problems I knew about and talked to Greg about fixing. He fixed these issues and made me aware of others I didn't know about. All of this was included in a tune up for $75. Riding my bike after, was like riding a brand new bike! It was so quiet, so clean, and so much easier to ride! The gears worked perfectly, and I wasn't afraid my bike would fall apart on me every time I changed gears or went over a bump. I brought my bike in on Saturday, and Greg had it done for me on Monday. He said they make an effort to get bikes back fast when it's your main mode of transportation. I was recommended this shop by a family member and I would definitely recommend them to others. Greg was super friendly and made me feel welcomed and not stupid for not knowing what was up with my bike. I don't think i'll ever take my bike to get fixed anywhere else.

I don't know much about bikes, just had a vague idea of what I needed, and the guy who helped me (I'm sorry I forgot your name!!) was super helpful and patient with my many questions and indecisiveness. What a cool bike shop. Kind of labyrinthine, lots of character, the staff are the friendliest, the prices are nice, and the selection is pretty unique. I got a fancy bell for my bike and a tire tube swapped out in about 15. Be sure to give the lovely shop dog Nova a scratch on the butt.

Fabulous service. Greg spent lots of time with me to make sure I had the perfect fit. I purschased a ladies small Reid steel frame sea green with a basket !!! Darling. I was able to ride it around Lake Harriet before I bought it to test ride it. It got lots of looks from the ladies walking around the lake . Great bike for my needs and excellent service. New to Mpls, I picked this bike shop on a bit of a whim to reassemble a recumbent I had shipped (Lightening P38). I am so glad that I did! Not only did the mechanic get it to run better than it ever has, but the owner, Greg, spent quite awhile working with me to adjust the fit of the bike after I explained that I had never been truly comfortable on it. I went from liking the bike to absolutely loving it. Great experience!! I also brought my old Burley Koosah in for a tune up, and it is now rides like a dream machine. Special thanks to the mechanic who fashioned a stand for my mirror from an old handle bar piece. Elegant solution.

They kept me informed about the progress of the job, and provided an itemized receipt to keep for my files. Definitely a positive experience; I would recommend them to others.

I have never had better or faster service in my life. My 1-year-old Opus Spark 4 was making creaky noises in the area of the pedals. Technician (tall thin guy, long dark hair, wish I had gotten his name) took the pedals off, did some adjusting and cleaning, put everything back together, took the bike for a quick spin, came back in, gave me the thumbs up. Whole thing took 10 minutes. I asked "Will that happen from time to time" and he said "not any more." Also LOVE the bike : )

I'm used to biking as my only transport, and left my beloved bike back East when I came home for a long weekend in March. Needless to say, with Covid-19, 3 months later I'm still here. I brought in an old bike that was lying in the garage to see if it was salvageable, and it was! The turn around was long, as expected, but huge shout out to Hilary for servicing me when I came to pick it up afters hours, and outfitting me with a helmet and lock.
