Happy to give this place 5 stars. John has done a great job helping my whole family find bikes they love. Very knowledgeable, listens to your needs, and does not oversell you. He clearly genuinely cares that his customers are happy and on the right bike. I never hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone.

This is a very good bike shop. I stopped by 4 times so far. The first time was to shop for a bike. Although the shop did not have the one that I was looking for, the owner let me test ride 4 bikes to help me understand what would work and what would not. The second and third times were to ask some quick and specific questions. The fourth time was to ask about some chain noise of my bike. The owner addressed my questions very thoroughly. He is very easy to talk with. I feel I can always learn something new from him whenever I stop by. He did not charge me for anything. He said he did not replace any parts, so there was no charge. If I need bike service in the future, I will certainly consider this shop first.

Brown's Bicycles was a great experience! John the owner is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and most importantly helpful. He helped me get ready for my first Ragbrai by helping me choose a new road bike. There was zero pressure in his sales and he promoted that I ride as many bikes as possible before buying a new one. In the end I did not buy my bike from him but I will be going to John for all my service and parts because I enjoy working with him. He also tuned up my older bike and it rides like a dream. I'm happy I found a new bike shop I can trust.

Excellent customer service from John, the owner at Brown’s Bicycles. I purchased my first bike after buying used over the years. I visited several shops before his, and though the selection was similar at all these shops, everyone I spoke with provided subpar service to me and others around. John was very knowledgeable, courteous and easy to talk to. He explained things well and made it clear what would work best for me after I shared what I was looking for. He didn’t try to oversell me. I purchased a bike that day and he provided an in-depth fitting service for no extra charge. Can’t say enough good things and will absolutely be back for any and all of our bike needs in the future!

The inventory is quality, including Marin, Giant and other top brands. And there is every kind of bike imaginable from commuting, urban, hybrid, road and mountain bikes. Awesome bike shop!

Kind, helpful, knows his business well! John (owner?) seemed really happy to discuss my options and encouraged me to go test ride every bike I can before buying -- including visiting other stores to try stuff he doesn't stock. He also sold me a much less costly solution to one of my issues ($16 vs $60). To me, that says he'll clearly prioritize the customer, their bike, and the right solution above a quick buck for himself. That's the kind of value that'll earn him my business and recommendations for years to come. Seriously, stop by! THANKS!

I pass at least 3 bike shops on my way to Brown’s. John knows his stuff and is always willing to take the time to make sure I understand what he is doing with repairs. His ‘shop out front’ approach is great because he will literally throw your bike up on the repair stand and show you what he is going to do! Prices are very fair for both parts and labor. Fantastic shop for everything from kids bikes to racing bikes!

I purchased a bike from John Brown at his bike shop called Browns Bicycles. Not only did we get a great bike for a great price, but also he gave us an education on bike maintenance and repair. John has many years in the industry an is willing to share his knowledge. This was amazing customer service that you would never find at any larger bike shop. If you are looking for a new bike you should consider stopping in. Even if you leave without a buying a bike, you will leave more informed. Like any small business owner, the goal is to sell product. What was really impressive is John was more concerned that you ended up with the right bike even if it wasn't purchased from him.

We stopped in to look for a bike for my daughter and found a nice used bike. I figured I’d just pay for it and be on my way however I was wrong. He had my daughter test ride it and then made all the necessary adjustment from fit to brake handle placement. He also went the extra mile and replaced the tires due to him noticing dry rot in the existing ones and did it free of charge! His service completely blew my mind as it has been a long time since I received this kind of service from a retailer! We have 5 bikes in my family and I will not go to another shop ever again! There are plenty of Bike shops in cities. I had the experience of buying 2 bikes in 3 days (one for my kid and one for me ) from 2 different shops (didn’t know about Browns when I got my kids bike) and boy what a difference. John is passionate about biking and brings all his experience of riding and designing bikes in helping you find the ride thats best for you. And helps with fitting the bike to you by adjusting and tweaking so that you ride out like the bikes been with you forever. Great bikes! Phenomenal customer service!

Super kind and helpful. Went through how to change a tire with me very methodically and detailed. Also fixed my cable that he noticed was broken. Erik's told me I needed to order a tiny piece from Diamondback and then bring it in and they could try to fix it and he fixed it with a different part within 15 minutes. This is my new shop of choice. Great service.

There are a lot of great bike shops around south MPLS but this place is a hidden gem. John has so much knowledge and he's not afraid to share it with you. Every time I go into this place I learn something new. He also has very fair pricing on the items he sells.

I highly recommend this bike shop! I went to Penn Cycle and they told me they couldn't fit me in for 3 weeks. I found Browns Bicycles and John the owner fixed my bike on the spot in 10 minutes. He was kind and knowledgeable, and the price was fair. Head on over and give this place your business!

Great service with a super knowledgeable staff. I have a rear wheel that had given me problems off and on for a while, out of true, broken spokes, flats like crazy. The worst, I had totally given up and was going to buy off the internet, but I know nothing about wheels. I decided to take the bike to Browns bike shop to get some advice. As it turns out I had 2 small defective parts that were causing all the issues. I didn't need to replace the wheel and was able to get the repair; and a needed tune up, done quickly and for a good price. 78 miles later and no problems whatsoever, I am looking forward to getting my daughter her first bike here, and maybe a new one for myself. I would recommend a visit for sales or service, but the knowledge of the staff is what makes this shop a standout.

Love this shop! I’d always thought bike helmets were a necessary (and uncomfortable) evil until I came here; turns out, I’d just never had one fitted properly. John spent five minutes adjusting it and now I barely know it’s on. What a difference! I only wish I lived closer; this would be my go-to shop for sure.
