I am relieved and so grateful to have stumbled across this barbershop. My son was able to get his fade just the way he wanted it. They are quick and make sure that you are happy with the cut while you are in the chair. I haven’t had great luck with haircuts in this area because lots of the barbershops we went to didn’t have tougher combs or picks for kinky hair and they didn’t know how to cut his hair. We have had many too many bad experiences but at the barber’s name is TRY(pronounced tree). He did an amazing job on my sons head we will definitely be loyal to him so we don’t have to drive from Georgetown to southeast. We can come right to tenleytown. Thank you TRY

Mario is the king of barbers! Great service and perfect haircut every time and you really can’t beat the price. Make sure you book Mario ahead of time as he is very popular (rightfully so)

Stopping reading reviews and go see Mario at this shop. I’ve had haircuts all over this city. I’ve paid sky high prices for haircuts at other barber shops and salons but none them even come close to the incredible haircuts I am getting from Mario at this shop and for a fraction of the price! He is a master with a fade and pro with a razor shave! If you stop in for a haircut ask for Mairo and make sure you ask him for a shave you will not regret it

I went to Diego's in Dupont Circle for years to see Mario, and when he moved to Tenleytown I started coming here! Beyond Mario, everyone is really nice here and I enjoy visiting whenever I come. Mario is really the best in DC. Also having the taco joint next door is a plus!

Walked in for the first time today. I got a buzz / fade and a beard trim. It was busy, but not crowded. Everyone seemed to know their hairdresser, (obvious return customers). Amy cut my hair, she was great. I’m always skeptical of letting someone else touch my beard, but she did a great job. I used to visit Supercuts down the road, but this was much better for the same price.

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to for this. Hands down one of the best experiences and haircuts I have ever had in my life! Walked in and was greeted instantly by all the friendly employees. Zero wait time. The barber listened carefully to exactly how I wanted my hair cut and delivered flawlessly. The attention to detail was surgical and stunning. I then received one of the best shaves and hot towel face massages I have ever had. Fantastic ambiance and I left more relaxed than I have been in a long time. To top it off, I was handed a cold bottled water on my way out for free as it was an extremely hot day outside. This whole experience for a price that is way lower than all the surrounding barbershops in the area. This will be my #1 barbershop from here on out. Could not be any happier with my experience and will be spreading the word to all my friends.

(Slightly embarrassing) but until this week, my mother gave me basic hair cuts all my life until I decided to try Tenleytown's Barbershop. I was totally nervous because I hadn't been to a barber since I was a small child and didn't know how to ask for what I wanted. I was immediately greeting with a warm welcome from the entire shop's staff and sat down for a trim. Try was so friendly and talked me through my options (and also complimented my mom's previous work, so nice!). He was friendly while also giving me what turned out to be a fantastic haircut that I am so happy with! I would recommend this place to anyone and have already referred multiple of my close friends! You can't go wrong with any of their staff, the whole staff is so well trained, talented and friendly. The prices are also very reasonable! I will definitely be making this my regular barbershop for as long as I am here! 10/10!

Best deal for a barbershop in DC! I usually go to Lina or Try and they do a fantastic job. Normally you'd have to pay double for same quality of haircut in DC. I've since moved from the neighborhood to Arlington and still come back every month for a haircut.

Felt like they were just trying to get me out the door. Barber misunderstood my instructions and shaved off more on the side than I wanted and cut way more off the top than I wanted. Maybe it’s on me for not realizing quickly enough but by the time I knew what they were doing it felt like too late to stop them. Wish them all the best, but I’m not coming back.

The best haircuts at the best prices. The team here are all real pros. Very personable too! The waits are never long as they’re very efficient. Edit: I want to add that this barbershop takes Covid very seriously. Masks required, appointment only so the store is basically empty, and the barbers wear face shields in addition to masks and gloves. You should feel safe to come here!

I have been seeing Try (pronounced Tree) for the past two years since moving to DC. I get a tight fade and he truly and consistently gives me the best haircuts that I’ve ever had. The shop itself is clean and tidy and all the barbers/stylists take COVID precautions very seriously (double masks, gloves, plastic barriers, sanitizer, etc.). This is a great business with great people and I would recommend anyone to get their hair cut there. I’m regularly asked and compliments by friends on my haircut and they ask where I go thinking that it’s some high-end salon and I’m always glad to tell them that it’s a small barbershop in Tenleytown. If you’re relocating to the AU/Tenleytown area and looking for a shop look no further than here.

A great barbershop! I was able to walk in mid-morning and didn't have to wait at all. The barber who cut my hair was very knowledgeable -- I told him my usual cut, and he noticed that I usually wear glasses (even though I wasn't at the time) and suggested some tweaks to the style to make it work better with glasses. The cut itself was great, and the barber took his time to make sure everything was right, and even offered to even up my shave for no extra charge. For $20 plus tip, I couldn't be happier with the service.

I've had a lot of good haircuts. I will say Peter gave me one of the best skin fades I have ever had. He took his time and knew what he was doing. I'll definetly be back when I need another cut. Also the other barbers do great work. I saw them cut other peoples hair and I'd give them 5 stars as well. I am new to the area so I just walked in one day. I suggest bringing cash there is a $2 surcharge on credit. I'd also make an appointment I had to wait about 20 minutes or so. It was worth the wait though.

This is a new place not far from the Tenley metro in summer 2017. I highly recommend them! I've been getting my hair cut there all summer long, and they've done a great job each time. I like that they take their time with each customer and make sure the cut is exactly what you want. It is great customer service compared to what you often get at a big box place. So definitely check them out next time you need a cut.

Great new barbershop in Tenleytown! The owner / head stylist, Lina, has cut my hair for 10+ years (including when she worked at another salon), and she's wonderful. Excellent cuts, very good service, really nice new decor, and extremely reasonable prices - - only $20 for a top-notch haircut! I also bring my two kids, boy and girl (ages 6 and 3) here, and they love it here and also get good haircuts. A short walk from the Tenleytown metro, or plenty of street parking nearby. Highly, highly recommended!

This place was amazing! All the people there were really nice and friendly. They take walk ins, so I walked in and instantly was put in a chair. No wait time! Try asked me from the start what I was looking for and I gave him a general description. I also had pictures of the type of cut I was looking for which helped a lot! He was super nice and with great confidence said that he can do that. Throughout the process, he made some tweaks to it and explained to me why he was doing so. And in the end, the result was AMAZING! I will definitely be coming back for my next haircut here when the time comes. (It wasn't a bad price either!)

The place offers some great haircuts with top notch prices to boot. I got my ideal haircut and a shave on the back of my neck for only 20 bucks(just be aware that there's a two dollar fee for using a card). Everyone here is super friendly, definitely my go to spot

5 STAR barbershop. My normal barber is on vacation so I went to Arcade barbershop in Chevy Chase and had the worst haircut EVER. So went to Tenleytowns Barber to fix my hair. I highly recommend Tenleytown Barbershop. Lina is great at what she does; the service is great and she listens to what the customer wants, so that you're happy when you leave. I knew Lina from having lived in Dupont Circle and going to Diego's for years -- and was glad to hear she had opened her own place in my new neighborhood (once my wife and I moved to Tenleytown). The location is very convenient, just a block north of Tenleytown Metro (on the redline) on Wisconsin Avenue.

Pros: cheap (relative to US prices) Disadvantages: they shear like sheep, just for quantity: quickly, but surely. Looks like they don't sanitize haircut accessories. It seems to me that in this way you can bring some kind of infection The establishment itself is shabby, tired, looks worse than any of the cheapest hairdressers in Russia
