I had been hearing positive reviews from friends about Scissors and Scotch, and they all proved to be warranted! Highly recommend this spot for a men's haircut. Staff is very friendly, service is high quality, and all around exactly what I was looking for in a relaxed environment. I've been to my share of other higher-end barbers in DC, and the complementary cocktail and facial included at Scissors and Scotch for the price makes this well worth the patronage. I will be back and bring friends with me next time around!

All of the locations have been amazing. They have been clean, managed well, thorough, professional, and a warm welcome. The barbers are great in giving you the best service you need, anytime of day. Along with a complementary drink after the service; should you wish to indulge yourself, you find yourself able to relax afterwards and enjoy your new look. I had a great experience with my stylist Maggie. The environment is very laid back, the bar is very sleek, and the haircut was fantastic. I recommend also doing the facial and hot towel treatment. Best thing about this place, they don’t rush you and really take their time pampering you. I will definitely be back!

Awesome experience! I was looking for a nice haircut and the experience I had here was easily the best I’ve had anywhere. The barber was really talented and could make suggestions, the shampoo & scented face towel were really pleasant, and the free drink just sent the whole experience into another ballpark. Would easily recommend this place to anyone looking for an opportunity to truly treat themselves. Also, the staff was really nice and the facility was really a nice place.

Very nice place and the barbers/stylists are very skillful. The bar and waiting area is pretty spacious and management does what they can to make things right when issues do arise. Parking isn’t optimal - you’re going to have to pay to park in the garage around the corner or make several laps in the hopes to find street parking so plan your travel accordingly. I had to recently cancel my membership because I moved out of the District but if they ever expand into western MD I would sign up again immediately!

***Great Experience!*** I am bald, but I do have quite a beard and I was beginning to look like a wild mountain man. So I signed up for the facial hair sculpting service. My barber was great! She made me feel welcome, asked about my skin sensitivity and how I liked my beard (thickness, fade, line-up, etc.) She then proceeded to sculpt my out of control growth into a work of art! Like Arnold, "I'll be back!"

Dan may be the best barber in DC. Have been looking for a solid barber in DC for the last year. Came from Miami so was looking for a similar cut in DC, and Siccors & Scotch is by far the best barbershop I have gone to so far. My barber was amazing listened to everything I wanted and gave me the best hair cut I ever had. Even with the thin scraggly beard I had she was able to line it up, trim it, and make it look good. The drink after the cut was just the cherry on top.

First of all, the Rye Manhattan was amazing. My barber, Ryan, was also great. I prefer a scissor cut to clippers, and she was happy to oblige, a pleasure to talk to, and gave me a terrific cut that immediately garnered me compliments!

Great first experience at S&S Navy Yard! I typically get a skin fade, hard part with a razor shape up. Deyon executed what I was looking for, to perfection. The free cocktail at the end was great as well (smoky old fashioned). I appreciated the hospitality that was provided to me during my ~hour at the shop. I got my haircut at a local place, and I don’t think we were on the same page so I needed to get it fixed. Joseph fixed it and you couldn’t even tell it had been my 13th reason. Scissors & Scotch can be a hit or miss. The look of the place is cool and the concept is interesting but my last two cuts here were quite a bad experience (I believe one barber tried to give me a perm with a blowdryer and almost burned my scalp and I wasn't offered the supposedly complimentary drink). The price is pretty exorbitant - considering what you get. I only went because they had a special that cut the price by at least 1/3. Do I really need to pay $60+ for a haircut at Scissors & Scotch when I can go to Bishops or The Bearded Goat and get the same thing for $40? True, S&S includes a "complimentary" drink (through likely baked-in to the price) but what stops me from simply making my favorite drink at home for less money? Also, do I really need a buzz between 11 AM and 5 PM? Additionally, it is also true that S&S offers a "soothing" scalp massage but, again, what stops me from going home and getting a free scalp massage from my girlfriend? It would be longer, less money, and done with more love and care. We need to ask ourselves... is this necessary? Probably not. If you enjoy the theater of it all, though, go for it.

What an incredible experience Scissors and Scotch offers. I came to the Navy Yards location to get a cut during a quick weekend trip to DC. I was paired with Nicki and let me tell you that she is so talented! There wasn’t a single aspect of my experience that I would have changed. She listened to what I was looking for and what I liked. She took note of how my last cut was terrible and needed to get fixed, and then went to work! She is a joy to speak with and you will walk away from the experience with a new level of confidence. Up front, I don't drink so I can't speak to the alcohol (they do have non-alcohol options available) but the rest of the experience was very nice. You do pay a premium price tag, but it was definitely a premium service. Everyone I interacted with was very professional and knowledgeable. Nikki, my stylist saw what the last barber (from a different shop not S&S) had done wrong and fixed me right up. Highly recommend if you can afford it. As a poor grad student, it might have been a one time go until I graduate and have real person income, but I would definitely go again wallet allowing.

I walked in for a haircut and a cocktail. The service was nice however I was called up before my scheduled time and the barber started to cut my hair when the receptionist told me that she mistakenly called me up. I had to stop in the middle of the haircut and wait for the first customer. The cocktail was enjoyable. Once I was called up for real, the barber continued. He was nice and did a fair job, however my appointment felt rushed at the end since the place was set to close soon. It’s understandable as a walk-in that the timing might be inconvenient, but it detracted from the experience slightly. I am still on the fence if I would go for another haircut at this business. As a first time customer, I received a discount, but the service is still quite expensive, even for DC. I did enjoy the concept of a cocktail and haircut, but I still demur at the price. It’s maybe a nice treat every once in a while, but it’d be unlikely to be my go to barber.

They were extremely welcoming upon arrival and ready for me exactly when I had scheduled my appointment. Not only was the waiting area very stylish and pleasant to wait in, the room where I received my haircut was relaxing and extremely modern. Yasmin listened closely to what I had in mind for my haircut but offered suggestions and provided examples of how much hair I would expect to take off with each trimmer level. The hot towel and shampoo was exactly what I needed before leaving with an exceptional haircut. I came in a first time user but expect to be back next time I need a haircut!

Great experience, from when I just stopped by and Chaun made my appointment for the next day (not sure this business even could accommodate my natural Black hair), but she was welcoming and ensured me that I would be serviced. I came back for my noon appointment and was greeted warmly and soon met my stylist Nicola who was wonderful. She continually asked me if the cut she was giving me was what I wanted, and she was pleasantly conversational. I didn't even expect the shampoo and delightful eucalyptus facial towel. What a nice touch! And the free beverage was just a cherry on top! BTW the facility is beautiful. I'm right around the corner so I can walk to you. I'd really like to talk to someone about doing a community project.

Fantastic barber shop! Professional, clean, great at haircutting. I've been to a few different haircut places in Navy Yard / DC and this has been the best one so far. I can tell others like this place as well because when I was in the chair getting cut, a few people came in mentioning "I'll get what I had last time", which tells me 1) the workers know their clients, which is a wonderful thing; and 2) customers like coming back. Add to that, the cost is amazing priced, and you have yourself a great barber shop. Don't forget, they throw in a free drink at the end, which is a little different but is pretty cool. You get to hang around and chat with other dudes and meet some people you probably wouldn't have met otherwise. Definitely will be a repeat customer, glad I found this place.

Friendly, experienced staff; solid cuts; great atmosphere. It's a great deal for adults with a list of fine spirits they would like to try (complimentary top shelf shot with a cut and deals for customers for ultra premium spirits). For non-drinkers, still pretty competitive among the many local high-end barbers and salons. This is just about the best space in which I've ever had a cut. Tons of natural lighting, exposed vaulting ceilings, and lights selectively placed to support the stylist without annoying the customers.

Folks this is the real deal! I’d regularly gone to one of the original Scissors and Scotch franchises out in Omaha 7+ years ago when I lived out there and been super impressed. They expanded throughout the Midwest since then and I was psyched to check out their new DC location since I moved here. Incredible service and great experience, I got a 10 Year Haircut and my stylist Try did a fantastic job. She was very passionate, knowledgeable, and overall a joy to work with. This was too be my first haircut since before the pandemic struck. I wanted a consultation on my best look and confidence that the job would be done well. The twenty dollar credit for first timers convinced me it was worth it. I was well taken care as soon as I entered the door. Nicola was courteous, professional, and personable. I am more than satisfied with the results, but also with the experience. A cocktail comes with the price of the cut. I chose an old fashioned with Buffalo Trace bourbon. This is too expensive to become my regular spot, but from time to time, I'll be back.

The experience as a whole was amazing, the place was very clean, the staff were very professional and the drinks were better than what you’d get from a pub! My stylist was Try, I didn’t have a specific style in mind so she helped me pick the right look that suited my hair and head, and the end result was identical to the picture I picked online. I’m glad I finally found a barber shop where I can become a regular.

The beard trim was extremely on point. I did the beard sculpt option and was very happy with the results. As a part of the whole experience I think the drinks were over priced for what you get (barely an ounce of Rye for $14) and a lot of the services require you to have an expensive monthly membership. That is slightly off-putting, but it may be up some people's alley to pay for it. I suggest going for the cut and see the drinks menu as a slight addition. This is still 100% better than Sports Clips, or somewhere like that for overall quality if you can afford it.

I came initially when they were doing free haircuts and just returned for my first paid haircut. I saw Try and my wife definitely thought it was a good haircut (this is always the deciding factor). I haven't subscribed yet but will. I can also report that the liquors included with your haircut are good quality, some are local and they have choices other than scotch or whisky. They do have for $1 more upgrading to even better options. Lastly there are some high end choices but those are available with the haircut. That being said I was very happy with the selections that were included. Only downside is having to pay for parking on the street or in a lot/structure.

The experience pays for itself, truly. It’s more than worth it considering the custom consultation, use of product, washing, and additional available services for just about anything you need done for hair or beard. You won’t be afraid to hold conversation either as the experience is very laid back to make you feel as if you’re on vacation. It’s truly worth it, especially considering the free drink that would normally be 12-15 extra. As compared to a spot like Floyd’s or any other “nicer” spot, check it out, it would be worth the drive, time, and money. Plus, they keep your preferences on record for the future so you don’t have to start all over again; they really do meet you with figuring out whatever you really want and hold to it, even if that should change. Think of a high end restaurant style service for hair; wonderful experience that you simply don’t find at very many places for men.

The haircut and shave were excellent. Quality service hair and beard wise. The bar and atmosphere I found lacking. Scissors and scotch tries to force an atmosphere of a high end boutique, but falls flat especially with there bar. For the amount they charge for drinks, they could at least have a larger selection and a more experienced bartender. A few high end scotch’s and whiskeys with everything else seeming to be an afterthought. Again the barber aspect was excellent, but still overpriced. Frankly, you could go to an old school barber in any part of town and get the same service and skill for $20 instead of $150.

For both cuts I went to Deyon; an extremely talented barber/stylist whose laid back attitude kept things fun while delivering on the vision I wanted but didn’t know quite how to describe. She provided an EXCELLENT haircut and did everything I had requested for it. (I have thick, course hair and normally get a mid skin fade, short on top with part among other requests) SHOUTOUT to Nicola!! On top of that, they provided a shampoo and rinse BEFORE the cut and a conditioning and rinse after the cut and then used product to finish. Can't express enough of the excellency this place strives for. If you're looking for a next level cut and haircut experience, this is absolutely the place you want to go. 10/10

I attended an appointment during the soft-opening week while they worked through last-minute details. The establishment is outstandingly appointed, in an up-and-coming neighborhood, and very hip in terms of aesthetic. That's where the positives began. The staff was very kind, the stylist was quite knowledgeable, and there was a definitive desire to expand on services as the customer mentioned additional things they wanted done rather than a wholehearted upsell approach that makes a person feel like just another revenue source. The things that stood out in terms of the negative--the affair felt a bit rushed because I am guessing the bookings during that time were back-to-back and the complimentary drink(s) were unavailable due to alleged bureaucracy with the D.C. municipal government (no surprise there, right?). At the very end only did I learn about the monthly packages, but wasn't entirely clear on them. There was a digital representation available, but it would have been nice to see some sort of visual elements at the door, on the wall(s), or in a brochure available to understand what it really offers and how it actually works (in VERY SIMPLE terms with LOTS OF PICTURES for those of us who lack time bandwidth to dig into a program). Overall it was a solid experience and I would probably return at some point.

Michael was amazing, a 5/5. If I go back, I will definitely be looking to book with him. Scissors & Scotch itself is probably a 3/4 stars, so ultimately a 4 star experience. Fun experience but not worth the money. If the price for services was actually as advertised on its site (e.g. $58 for Fifteen Year), it would be fine. A regular cut and shampoo is about $25. Then add the towel treatment, back of neck razor shave, scalp massage, cleanser, and cocktail and I see the $58 value. But when you go to book a Fifteen Year on the website after being told its $58, it shows a price of $78, or a Twenty-Five year price. While $58 is reasonable, $78 is not; this makes Siccors and Scotch a splurge you do perhaps twice a year rather than your new regular baber shop.
